Flight Sergeant '''Greenbean''' is a blonde, tall {{TOS|Viper}} pilot attached to ''{{TOS|Galactica}}''.

Greenbean fights in the [[Battle of Cimtar]]. He contacts {{TOS|Starbuck}} and {{TOS|Boomer}} when notices ''Galactica'' withdrawing from the battle. Greenbean is one of the scouts that reports that there appears to be no Cylon pursuit after the exodus {{OS|Saga of a Star World}}.

[[Tigh (TOS)|Colonel Tigh]] "dresses down" Greenbean after he discovers that he "liberated" rations for the bachelor party that the pilots hoped to throw for [[Apollo (TOS)|Captain Apollo]]. However, like the rest of the pilot corps, he is infected with a viral agent that almost kills him {{OS|Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I}}.

After a cure is discovered, he fights at many other engagements and has a keen tactical mind. While defending [[The Fleet (TOS)|the Fleet]] from a raid, he and another flight sergeant, {{TOS|Jolly}}, realize that the [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylons]] are attacking the [[agro ships]]. However, this realization is belated, and most of the agro ships are destroyed; only one agro ship survives the engagement, sans its crops {{OS|The Magnificent Warriors}}.

Greenbean is among the Warriors who briefly vanished during the Fleet's encounter with the [[Ship of Lights]]; launched to intercept the mysterious white ships, he and the rest of Red Squadron disappeared {{OS|War of the Gods, Part I}}.  After counted as missing for a secton, Greenbean and the other eight pilots were found safe and well on the planet where {{TOS|Apollo}} had first discovered [[Iblis|Count Iblis]] {{OS|War of the Gods, Part II}}.

Sometime later, Starbuck wonders if Greenbean is one of those invited by Cassiopeia to the Spheroid Concert&mdash;while he himself is trying to repair things between himself and [[Aurora (TOS)|Aurora]], a past romantic attachment {{OS|Take the Celestra}}.

* Begley's last on-screen appearance was in "[[War of the Gods, Part I]]," but was mentioned by {{TOS|Starbuck}} in "[[Take the Celestra]]". 
* He is identified as an ensign in both the novel and script of "[[Saga of a Star World]]".
* Greenbean is a central character in the original novel ''[[The Nightmare Machine]]''.
* His name or callsign is evidence that something similar or identical to [[Earth (TOS)|Earth]] beans were among the crops produced by the Colonies.
