Sergeant '''Donald Perry''' is a young man selected as a candidate pilot ([[nugget]]) for Viper training under Lieutenant [[Kara Thrace|Thrace]], and is given the callsign "Chuckles".

Because he had some flying experience as a boonie jumper, Perry is selected from relative obscurity to become one of ''{{RDM|Galactica}}'''s first intake of trainee pilots after 13 experienced pilots are killed in a freak accident {{TRS|Act of Contrition}}.

Once on ''Galactica'' he finds himself commanded by Kara Thrace, and forms friendships with fellow nugget pilots [[Brendan Costanza]] and [[Louanne Katraine]].

Thrown into immediately flying {{RDM|Viper}}s because of the absence of flight simulators, none of the nuggets perform particularly well. This leads Thrace to wash out the entire class, but she reverses herself on orders from Commander [[William Adama|Adama]].

Perry is selected to fly [[Viper 4267]] in with {{callsign|Lee Adama}} during a [[Battle for the Tylium Asteroid|raid on a Cylon tylium refinery]] as part of Strike Force Two. He is killed during the operation when an anti-aircraft bullet pierces both his Viper's cockpit and his [[flight suit]] {{TRS|The Hand of God (RDM)}}.

Chuckles is later mentioned during a conversation between Captains Adama and Thrace about the pilots who have died, and is included in Thrace's toast to fallen comrades before the pilots in the rec room ([[TRS]]: "[[Scar]]").

*After Lee Adama's defection to the [[Laura Roslin faction]], Commander Adama considers a pilot named Perry to replace him as [[CAG]], before ultimately settling on [[George Birch]]. Because of his death in "[[The Hand of God (RDM)|The Hand of God]]," the "Perry" mentioned in "[[Home, Part I]]" has to be a different pilot altogether.
* Perry's first name and final rank at time of death are derived from [[:Image:Viper7961 handofgod.jpg|this high-resolution screenshot]] from "[[The Hand of God (RDM)|The Hand of God]]," which matches with his [[:Image:Chuckles nameplate - watermarked.jpg|much clearer nameplate]] from the production.
