Name: Bojay | |||
Rank: Lieutenant | |||
Position: Viper Pilot, Battlestar Galactica
Portrayed By: Jack Stauffer
Much of Bojay's past is generally remained in the throes of obscurity, however his career seemed to be ensured due to his piloting skills. Bojay is more of a fighter, imbued with the Commander Cain mentality, though is loyal and outgoing.
== | == Biography == | ||
Bojay | Bojay used to be attached as a Viper pilot to the Galactica before being transferred to the Pegasus and the Fifth Fleet two yahren prior to the Cylon-induced holocaust.
Bojay, as well as the rest of the Pegasus crew, were presumed dead at the Battle of Molecay, due to Cain's insistence that they take an indirect route to the Colonies.
Apparently typical of the Pegasus crew, Bojay found offensive strikes to be as easy as breathing, and worshipped the "living legend", Commander Cain.
Bojay | Bojay and Lieutenant Sheba intercepted Galactica Viper pilots Apollo and Starbuck while they were on a routine recon mission, subsequently escorting them back to Pegasus.
Bojay had bragged about the accomplishments of Cain during and after the Battle of Molecay, and was one of the first people (along with Cain's daughter, Sheba) to suggest mutiny after Adama relieved the war legend.
He, along with Sheba and a small, but armed, group of Pegasus pilots hindered Apollo, Flight Sergeant Jolly and Starbuck from completing a necessary fuel transfer from the Pegasus stores to the Fleet. (The Living Legend, Part I) Fortunately the oncoming onslaught of Cylon fighters fragmented this confrontation. After thwarting Baltar's devestating attack on the Fleet, plans were drafted to take the Cylon fuel stores on Gamoray.
Later, he was added to the team that would be dropped down to the planet to take care of the Cylon control center on Gamoray while the Galactica shuttles would stock up with tylium fuel to get the fleet past the besieged "outer colony". He was injured during the ground skirmish with Cylon Centurions, and had to be evacuated to the nearby battlestar Pegasus, by order of MedTech Cassiopeia. He and other injured and "non-essential" personnel were shuttled to the Galactica prior to the Pegasus attack on two Cylon basestars. (The Living Legend, Part II)
Bojay was absorbed into Blue Squadron and was one of the fighter pilots that went missing by the intervention of the Beings of Light. (War of the Gods)
== | == Notes == | ||
The character of Bojay, portrayed by Jack Stauffer, was very much like Laurette Spang-McCook's character of Cassiopeia -- the character was to be killed, but then saved and added to Battlestar's recurring cast of characters once found to be useful. Since Stauffer and Richard Hatch (Apollo) worked so well together, Larson and his peers elected to keep the character of Bojay on. Although the last time we had ever seen Bojay was in War of the Gods -- where he disappeared in the first act after encountering the Beings' colossus -- Stauffer would've had a strong recurring part like those of Herb Jefferson Jr., Laurette Spang-McCook, or Anne Lockhart, had there been a second season.
