| I deleted a scan of the Viper Mark II found in [[The Official Companion]] book. While stills of broadcast media is, in effect, an authorized reproduction in terms of fair use (since the derivative is not really a genuine ''motion picture'' element of the original work), we can never use scans of printed media since it's essentially a pirate of the original work, which is also a still image. It would be as if we moved an iTunes download of an episode to here; it doesn't change the aspect, or flavor of the original work and so is an illegal copy. Lord knows I, too, considered a scan of this for here, but knew this was not a good idea. We can transpose the technobabble details of the guns and other features from here to the wiki, however. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 13:58, 16 February 2006 (EST) | | I deleted a scan of the Viper Mark II found in [[The Official Companion]] book. | :Indeed. IANAL, but I believe that a screencap is fundamentally different in nature from the production from which it was taken (no movement, no sound), and it's fairly clear that nobody would use the few screen caps we have on the various articles ''in lieu'' of watching the show. However, there's a good case to be made that reproducing still images from a book creates a concrete disincentive to actually buy it. --[[User:April Arcus|April Arcus]] 19:49, 16 February 2006 (EST)

| == Low Adoption Rates ==
| |
| Due to a dropoff in adoption rates, and the increasing backlog of misfits, a number of the older misfits that have not yet found a home may soon be taking that long walk off a short pier. So, if there's anything on this page that you care to keep, please find a place for it and remove it from this page, or at least move it to the "adopted" section indicating you have some idea where it may eventually end up. Otherwise the some of the older misfits that are not linked elsewhere will be deleted. --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 08:50, 29 March 2006 (CST)

| ::Thanks! I was just about to call it a day on the cleanup, but I went ahead and took care of those. I have NO idea how much space we're currently taking up with images here, but it makes me feel better if we periodically "clean up our own mess". --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 13:57, 31 March 2006 (CST)

| == Stealthy Links ==
| |
| | |
| Links like <nowiki>[[:Image:Foo.ext]]</nowiki> don't seem to appear in the Links section on an image page. I wouldn't exactly consider this a bug, but I thought it worth noting. (It shows up in the case of the basestar launching raiders pictures.) --[[User:CalculatinAvatar|CalculatinAvatar]] 20:07, 31 March 2006 (CST)
