I was sad when this site went down a few years ago. I know Fandom isn't perfect, but it wouldn't it have been far better that this information had a few ads to go with it, than not having any of this hard work shared with the world. I get the noble argument that the owner of this site to keep this site private. This wiki was a collaborative effort and so it wouldn't be right to take money for something that wasn't his to give. Why doesn't the owner take the money to pay for his previous expenses and the rest of the site vote over what charity to give the rest of the money to? | ** Merging with Fandom would be (to my opinion) the worst idea. Fandom would become the owner of the wiki's content and nothing could not be undone after that. You cannot leave Fandom for another provider (even if you wanted to) and they won't want to close the wiki. That's like a dictatorship and you may be even fired from your "own" wiki for any reason. | ** Hello Oldag! Thank you for bringing this proposal up. I've considered Fandom (The Artist Previously Known as Wikia) previously, even when the "Wiki" was down, and find that despite some cosmetic changes they haven't changed much since my [http://web.archive.org/web/20100708074050/http://blog.battlestarwiki.org/2008/01/27/battlestar-wiki-buy-out-not-gonna-happen/ initial decision to reject their buy-out offer] nearly a decade ago. As for any issues with losing information, Shane L. at [http://www.battlestarwikiclone.org Battlestar Wiki Clone] has done a wonderful job in "forking" a clone of the Wiki for fandom (lowercase "f") despite Fandom.com and the temporary service interruption of this website. I have served as an administrator on the Civilization video game fandom site for about a year and a half. I personally have had no problems with the site, though I understand some of the arguments arguing differently. I feel bad that you have to pay for this site with your own personal money.
