The game is designed using the Cortex System, the rules engine created by MWP for their RPG based on [[w:Joss Whedon|Joss Whedon]]'s ''[[w:Firefly (TV series)|Firefly]]'' TV series and its motion picture [[continuation]], ''[[w:Serenity (film)|Serenity]]''.
