| == Biography ==
| |
| | |
| Nerling was born in Oliver, B.C. and raised in Vernon, B.C. Acting was a lifelong interest he did not actively pursue until 2001, when a close friend encouraged him to move to Vancouver and try the industry.<ref group="external" name="imdb_nerling_bio" /> He began with background and extra work, then took acting classes, secured a principal agent, and steadily expanded into stunt performance. He became a member of the [[w:UBCP/ACTRA|UBCP/ACTRA]] and the Vancouver Stunt Community, and describes himself as an actor first who is also a stunt performer — preferring that term to "stuntman."<ref group="external" name="imdb_nerling_main" />

| In addition to his on-screen work, Nerling operates a video editing business, ''Barry Nerling – Digital Editing'', specializing in stunt reels and actor demo reels.<ref group="external" name="filmlocal_nerling_profile">{{cite web|url=https://filmlocal.com/user/barry-nerling/#:~:text=accomplished%20Editor%20with%20over%2012%20yrs%20experience|title=Barry Nerling|publisher=FilmLocal|accessdate=March 20, 2026}}</ref> He has also produced and directed short-form projects, including the short film ''Stan's Plan'', in which he served as co-writer and co-director.<ref group="external" name="imdb_stans_plan">{{cite web|url=https://www.imdb.com/title/tt24106998/#:~:text=Stan%27s%20Plan|title=Stan's Plan (Short)|publisher=IMDb|accessdate=March 20, 2026}}</ref>
