'''Barnabas Greeley''' was the leader of a radical [[Soldiers of the One]] cell on {{RDM|Caprica}}.  Greeley was committed to violent action and rejected rival cell leader, [[Clarice Willow]]'s notion of [[Apotheosis]].  

==History==
Greeley's personal belief in a singular [[God (RDM)|God]] revolves around pain as a pathway to clearer thinking, to that end, Greeley practices self [[Wikipedia:Flagellation|flagellation]] {{CAP|Know Thy Enemy}}.

===The Package===
Working out of a dockside warehouse in [[Caprica City]], Greeley guides his cell in both the planning and carrying out of terror attacks, as well as in prayer groups.  Though she never takes an active role in his cell, [[Zoe Graystone]] is a member of Greeley's circle and has, in some way, made him aware of her "important" [[resurrection program|project]].  Active members in Greeley's cell include former students of Clarice Willow, [[Pann]], [[Hippolyta]], [[Ben Stark]], [[Keon Gatwick]] and, later, [[Lacy Rand]].

Lacy Rand comes to Greeley by way of Keon Gatwick, who believes Greeley is the only member of the Soldiers of the One who can support Lacy's endeavor of delivering Zoe Graystone's" [[Zoe-R|package]]" to [[Gemenon]].  Though it takes some convincing, Greeley agrees to help Rand and secures a cargo container that would clear customs.  In return, Greeley persuades Rand to plant a tracking device on Clarice Willow, though, in reality, the device is linked to a sophisticated bomb hidden in Willow's trunk {{CAP|Gravedancing|Know Thy Enemy|End of Line}}.

===Conflict with Clarice===
Greeley's more active and violent methodology chaffs against that of the more subdued Clarice Willow.  Labeling her notion of Apotheosis "some crazy plan that make you into a bouncer in some homemade heaven," Greeley gathers weapons and slowly builds a power base, undermining Willow's efforts to lie low.  Intercepting a shipment of weapons intended for Barnabas, Willow threatens Greeley at gunpoint, ordering him to toe the line.  Greeley does the exact opposite, using the bomb created by Keon Gatwick in an attempt at killing Willow as she travels to Gemenon {{CAP|End of Line}}.

Returning from Gemenon with the full support of the [[Monotheist Church]] and power over the Caprican STO cells, Willow immediately begins murdering the members of Barnabas' cell who had tried to kill her, with [[Lacy Rand|one exception]].  Trapping Greeley in a highrise construction site, Willow handcuffs Barnabas to a bomb and then remotely detonates it {{CAP|Retribution}}.

[[James Marsters]], who previously worked with ''Caprica''<nowiki/>'s first showrunner [[Jane Espenson]] on ''[[w:Buffy_the_Vampire_Slayer|Buffy the Vampire Slayer]]'' as [[w:Spike_(Buffy_the_Vampire_Slayer)|Spike]], portrays Barnabas Greeley throughout his appearances in ''[[Caprica (series)|Caprica]]''. The character's death scene was filmed in a highrise construction site set, with its visual extension created by visual effects artist [[Farrah Welch]]. Welch created "an unfinished office building" for the set digitally and provided lighting for both daytime rainy scenes and nighttime sequences.
