Following the unsanctioned rescue of Captain Apollo three sectons prior, the Cylons' super basestar is able to track the absconding Colonials back to their Fleet, leading to a fierce and fateful conflict between the two forces after only two yahrens of respite.
Reeling from the apparent death of Major Apollo and the reappearance of the Cylon threat, Commander Adama forbids any recovery effort for either Apollo or his remains. With the awesome threat posed by the Cylons' newest capital ship, dubbed the "super basestar" with its phalanxes of Raiders, Adama and the Colonials of the Fleet must continue to press on.

Background
Background
With the Cylons having failed to ensnare the Fleet, they recover and rehabilitate Apollo after his flight probe's encounter with the super basestar (doa-).
Cylons enact their plan to ensnare humanity by manufacturing psionic impressions of humans, which are sympathetically received by Countess Sephoni during her ten yahren separation from the the Fleet. Immediately following Major Apollo's final transmissions, Commander Adama arrests Sephoni and her entourage, on the belief that they are knowingly complicit in the treachery (doa-).

A daring rescue lead by Captains Athena and Starbuck, along with Countess Sephoni, recover Apollo from the bowels of the basestar, bringing him home to the Fleet. However, Apollo's injuries relegate him to duty behind-the-scenes, instead of the front lines (doa).
A grieving and intoxicated Captain Starbuck threatens to kill Sephoni in her brig aboard Galactica before being tranquilized by security (doa). Adama and Starbuck discuss Apollo's fate and the need to press onward, during which Adama elicits a promise from Starbuck to not mount any rescue attempt (doa).
Action
Action
The super basestar jumps into range of the Fleet, destroying Centara in the opening salvo before the Viper screens are deployed (doa).
Captains Athena and Starbuck, with fellow conspirators Breena, Boomer, Greenbean and Sheba, make plans to use the Cylon transport flanked by four Viper. Under the guise of a recon patrol, Boomer fills out a request for said patrol and Athena authorizes it. Also in the log is the scuttling of the Cylon transport, with Starbuck allegedly planning to abandon the ship in the Fleet wake, rigging it as a mine for any would-be Cylon pursuers (doa).

Following deployment of the Viper screens, Taurus Axillon is destroyed while Raiders push down the center of the Fleet. Hybrid missile carriers focus their attack on the Fleet's fuel ships.
Starbuck recruits Countess Sephoni, herself wanting to make recompense for being deceived, for her abilities as a psionic divining rod to ensure that Xam's message relaying Apollo's status and location is genuine. Now that Sephoni is able to discern between Cylon psionic misinformation versus the genuine article, she confidently confirms Xam's divination.

In core command, Commander Adama and Colonel Tigh review the analysis of the super basestar, determining that any offensive action against the ship would be futile (despite the protests of Captains Starbuck and, later, Athena) as the craft is virtually invulnrable.
Athena, Starbuck and Sephoni board the Cylon transport and launch, escorted by Vipers piloted by the quartet of Warrior conspirators. While Sephoni is able to divine the proper access codes that allow the transport to dock, the quartet of Vipers reveal themselves from an asteroid field, engaging the Cylons so as to divert their attention (doa).

Tigh, then Adama, join the Viper defense, using two of the sixteen reserve Vipers remaining. (All active pilots are engaged.) Apollo is reminded that he is unfit for pilot duty, and is told to "win this war" by coordinating Fleet defense with Athena.
After running-and-gunning through the hangar bay, the trio of infiltrators come across Apollo hooked into a medical apparatus. Sephoni and Starbuck accesses the ship's system, as the system is unified and can be controlled from any terminal, rigging various alarms that indicate a critical failure of the main reactor.

Cylons engage in communication jamming following Adama and Tigh's deployment, leaving the defense of the Fleet uncoordinated. Galactica<nowiki/>'s crew begins their fretful attempt to circumvent this.
The trio extricate Apollo, exfiltrating via the cargo-hoist to reach their exfiltration transport. Without taking any losses, the recovery group return to Galactica to be dressed down by an otherwise grateful Commander Adama (doa).

Countess Sephoni divines a singular weakness in the super basestar: a slight overlap in the basestar's shielding would allow a skilled pilot with a fusion missile to strike a fatal weak point. Unable to communicate this to the active Vipers, Apollo makes the logical decision of taking a Viper with the proper ordnance, despite his inactive flight status. Apollo makes his way through the fray, destroying many Raiders in his push towards the basestar.

Galactica<nowiki/>'s crew are able to thwart the jamming. Athena tells the Viper screens to cover Apollo, much to the consternation of Commander Adama.

Starbuck is able to break free of the fighting to cover Apollo. Starbuck fails in his attempt to take the mission from Apollo, as Starbuck's missile racks are expended. With Apollo the only properly-armed Viper in range, Starbuck covers Apollo by taking out four Raiders, while Apollo makes a run toward the vulnerability.

Apollo fires a fusion missile, striking the death blow to the super basestar, and is able to pull away from the explosion. Apollo's Viper is damaged in the explosion, and Apollo is locked into a dive into the nearby star, with his friends and family unable to assist (doa).

After-Action
After-Action
Apollo's death leaves the Fleet without one of its leaders, and Adama with only surviving child, Athena.
Apollo is examined by Doctors Salik and Madusa and is found to no longer be medically fit to fight in the front lines. He is relegated to duty in Core Command as a command operative (doa—).

The Cylons' super basestar is destroyed, leaving the question open as to the existence of others of its type, as well as any future threats-in-waiting (doa).
