It was created prior to the Cylon War during the conflict between Caprica and Sagittaron. The facility was made operational when the Caprican military decided to make use of robots to combat Sagittaron which led to Commander Ben Tanner being placed in charge of the project due to his history in robotics. The site served as the basis for the creation of the mechanical Cylons with the prototype being saved from a Sagittaron raid. (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon War 1) |
