::::Your understanding is correct. I do happen to believe that the infoboxes on Caroline Adama and Scylla are probably superfluous, but at least they contain interesting information. All this template does as of now is specify the location's name, owner, function, and... recursively, location. Since all this information should be present in the lead paragraph anyway, I think the template as currently formulated is redundant at best, and encourages loose writing at worst. --Peter Farago 14:02, 11 June 2006 (CDT)

Deletion[edit]

This template improves none of the articles it has been used on; it just combines a picture and some uninteresting details which can be quickly gleaned from the article text. --Peter Farago 12:02, 11 June 2006 (CDT)

Though the template is used infequenlty for now, there is still more places tp be added. New Caprica, other things that and places that we might see during season 3. For someone who did not want to read the next but get the "description" they would had read this Data block. Data blocks are designed so people can get the full skippy about the location. If this were the case, I vote to delete the Character Data block because then people would have to read the article. Blocks are used as a reference to an item, not for sole use. --Shane (T - C - E) 12:10, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
None of our "location" articles are so long that this is helpful; and none of the factoids selected for the data box are interesting or comprehensive enough to give a meaningful overview. --Peter Farago 12:21, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
It has been seen by the community. It has only been 1 day, and their was other edits to a page other than myself. So saying that it didn't have any "Uses" is bougs. --Shane (T - C - E) 12:23, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
That's reasonable. I've restored Cylon listening post to stand as an example while we discuss it. --Peter Farago 13:04, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
I believe that the template might have uses in larger articles. There isn't anything stating, at all, that the template needs to be consistently applied to each and every article on locations in the BSG universes. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 13:22, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
I beleive you are misunderatnding on Peter's orginal ideas for the deletion are. --Shane (T - C - E) 13:27, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
One more example: Caroline Adama --Shane (T - C - E) 13:39, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
Perhaps I am, however as I read the discussion thus far, here's what I found. In Peter's reply to your comment regarding the Character Data template, he states: None of our "location" articles are so long that this is helpful. So, therefore, I recognize that Peter believes that the infoboxes on larger pages are helpful for summarizing noteworthy information. Obviously, more views on this issue would be quite helpful, and would probably help what kind of information should be in this infobox, as that is a concern Peter expressed as well. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate 13:34, 11 June 2006 (CDT)
Your understanding is correct.
There does not seem tobe a concensous or any other objections so I have removed the delete status. --Shane (T - C - E) 19:51, 20 June 2006 (CDT)
