A tech spider crawls over Starbuck's Temporal Viper.

The tech spider[1] is a crawlon-like drone in use by the Cylons for repair and diagnostic purposes.

These eight-legged chrome machines feature egg-like bodies, with the distinctive "red eye" scanner at their front, and a pair of protruding mandibles at the mouth. Their overall size is comparable to a Centurion's head.

These are set upon Starbuck's Temporal Viper following its capture by the forces from Baltifer's baseship, and were able to provide Zee with information to construct a temporal warp drive (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #2 & #4).

The spiders are later deployed upon Apollo's own Temporal Viper with instructions to destroy the craft should Apollo fail to lead Baltifer into Apollo's original universe (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #5).

References[edit]

  1. The term "crawlon" is used in the Original Series to refer to a spider, so this is another case of terms being juxtaposed with their Earth counterparts by tie-in writers.
