Please explain to me what is wrong with this page and how to make any page useable. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kittenmaia (talk • contribs).

It's both the content and style. Content-wise we already have articles like The Twelve Colonies (RDM), Arts and Literature of the Twelve Colonies, Language in the Twelve Colonies or Religion in the Twelve Colonies (RDM) which cover this in far greater detail. Those articles are popular and sometimes of very high quality, so that's where people go when they want to know something about humans in BSG (a similar series exists about the Cylons). In a more general sense there are also science and technological articles like Science in the Re-imagined Series which comes with a whole series of sub-articles about medicine, navigation, propulsion, weapons or computers. Or Themes in Battlestar Galactica (RDM) for a meta-view on themes in the series.
So, I'm afraid that there is not really much reason to even improve it, since the content already exists elsewhere. If you have something new to add to those articles, feel free to do so. I realize, that you put some effort into this, and I really feel a bit bad about coming down you for the second time now, but other people would say pretty much the same :s
Regarding the style, it mixes both out-of-universe references with in-universe ones, which we rarely do. Sometime it's unavoidable, but generally we write from an in-universe POV and put real-life references into footnotes or a separate notes section below the main article. Secondly, you should write from a neutral point of view. That means saying "The viewer see" or "Viewers see" instead of "We see". Also note that the humans in BSG are not us. So writing "In BSG we don't have..." doesn't work. Rather you'd say something like "The Colonials don't possess <something> like on real-world Earth".
That stuff is covered in policies like Battlestar Wiki:Neutral point of view or Battlestar Wiki:Real point of view. --Serenity 08:38, 6 August 2007 (CDT)
Hi, Kittenmaia. To add to or clarify Serenity's comments: This article is what many of us call a "telephone" article, per on policy on descriptive terms for items and characters noted in the shows without an official name. As such, this is an article for what is an obvious, ubiquitous and self-explanatory group. For that reason we have articles that talk about their culture (humanity may be one genus but have many different cultures) and technology. For the Cylons, since they are both familiar but foreign, we need an article detailing them in the manner similiar to what's done here. Battlestar Wiki does not allow articles on the obvious--we're not a general encyclopedia like Wikipedia. Essay articles (as this one is because of its voicing and perspective) are allowed if they add a distinct analysis of show information not found consolidated in any other article. The article "The Destiny" is one example, and the "Science in the Re-imagined Series" articles are others. I'll re-read your article to be sure, but my initial read didn't note any items that weren't already in another article or too obvious to mention for the purpose of this encyclopedia. We'll let others put their two cents for or against this article here to let consensus help a decision on deletion per our policies. --Spencerian 09:17, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

Okay, thanks for your comments and i do understand your points. If you feel my article should not be here then do not worry about removing. I trust that you know best in this case. Raven 11:51, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

The article has been deleted. If you would like to have the original text so you can add information to other articles (like The Twelve Colonies (RDM) and friends), please notify me or another administrator. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 06:38, 16 August 2007 (CDT)

Humans in TOS[edit]

In TOS there are humans from all over, not just from the colonies. Currenly we redirect to the twelve colonies pages, which seems to miss out a lot. OTW 06:46, 19 October 2007 (CDT)

True. I suppose we should address that. :) -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Sanctuary Wiki — New 07:08, 19 October 2007 (CDT)
