Rank

I don't think we can assume Hot Dog is a Lieutenant just because Kat is. She's a much better flier than he is (she flies on par with Starbuck, apparently), so she may have been fast tracked a bit. I'm not saying Hot Dog sucks, but just that he's a "normal" pilot. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Kat had earned a promotion to Lt. JG for being a badass. That's on the promotion paper work, you know. "Badass" is. You know... Reason for Requested Promotion: Valor [ ] Bravery [ ] Extended, Quality Service [ ] Badassery [X]. I'm sure of it. --Day 03:06, 4 February 2006 (EST)

She was still nothing special in Final Cut, which was when we learned her rank, although perhaps we should just leave his rank as unknown. --April Arcus 03:09, 4 February 2006 (EST)
Hey, Hot Dog bravely assisted Starbuck in Act of Contrition, and destinguished himself well in the Battle of the Tylium Asteroid. My point is that he's one of the (what, like 3?) few surviving original batch of nuggets, so he's been in there a LONG time, plus he was pretty good to begin with (everyone else was a "boonie-jumper", he was a Viper academy washout). So although we really arent sure of his rank, I think he's most probably a Lieutenant. --Ricimer 03:14, 4 February 2006 (EST)
Okay. I'm convinced. Good thing I didn't edit it. Now I don't have to revert myself. *wink* --Day 04:29, 4 February 2006 (EST)
Hotdog may be a Lieutenant at the time of LDYB or even already at the time of "Scar", but he probably he wasn't one in "Final Cut." At least this is what I infer from Lee's dialogue: "Constanza, get the hell outta here. It's the last time you come in a senior officers quarters, go, move." Kat, however, appears to be allowed to stay there. But then again, I have no military experience whatsoever, so I'm not sure whether Lieutenants are senior officers or not. -- Pedda 07:54, 18 August 2006 (CDT)
Going by the uniform piping, everything up to Major is a "junior" officer. However, I'd imagine that- in this case- Lee was referring to the seniority of the pilots in question. --Madbrood 13:05, 29 September 2006 (CDT)
Just watching Unfinished Business, and I swear that when Tigh calls Hot Dog's name, he calls him "Captain Hot Dog". Can anyone else confirm that? If so, his rank needs updating. - Cavalier One 16:41, 13 September 2007 (CDT)
No. He says two things: "Next up is Hotdog! Hotdog, get your butt up here and pick a partner." and "Who's your partner, Hotdog?" --Serenity 16:55, 13 September 2007 (CDT)

Spelling of name

The organizational chart in "The Passage" showed his name spelled as Brendan Costanza with one "N". Other episodes have spelled his name with two "N's". Kind of confusing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 123home123 (talk • contribs).

Probably just another props goof, like the Raygun nametag --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 03:52, 11 December 2006 (CST)

Fighter Type

Is Hot Dog the only senior pilot who's never been seen in the cockpit of a MkVII? We see in season two Kat has her own Mk.VII, as well as Starbuck and Apollo. And yet we've only ever seen HotDog in Mk.IIs. Any speculation? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AnteaterFeeder (talk • contribs).

It's probably just a coincidence. The first few intakes of nuggets were trained on Mk. IIs. The first time we saw cadets flying Mk. VIIs was in "Scar". I don't think we saw him in the cockpit in that episode, and the only time we've seen him in flight since is in Exodus, part II. --April Arcus 16:23, 18 January 2007 (CST)

Picture

Interestingly, there is a promo picture of Hot Dog from "The Road Less Travelled" here. He doesn't look into the camera, but the current picture isn't that good either. At least it shows more of his face. -- Serenity 18:31, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Flight history section?

In my review/editing of this article, it becomes clear to me that we really need to arrange the content better. I was thinking of a "flight history/duty" section, since that's about what half the article really is. There's not much in here about his actual character, outside his sexual proclivities and general snarkiness. Thoughts? -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 20:30, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

The character stuff can be moved to the top to point out his personality a little. Reworded so it's less about the plot. Then then story stuff after that. -- Serenity 20:43, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
