The Promar Sector is a region of space most likely on the edge of, or just beyond, Colonial territories. It has at some point been mapped, as data is available for FTL jumps. However, it is well outside of normal Colonial FTL activities because it is considered "beyond the Red Line" for a single jump.
When attempting to flee the Cylon attack following the surviving fleet's arrival at Ragnar Anchorage, Command Adama selects the Promar Sector as a means of jumping away from Colonial space and hopefully escaping the Cylons (Mini-Series).
