Simon is a Cylon that was first encountered on Cylon-occupied Caprica, as a doctor "caring" for Starbuck after she received a gunshot wound, when he was in fact stealing samples of her egg cells, and preparing her for use in human-Cylon forced hybridization experiments. Simon actually has a kind and gentle personality as befiting a "doctor", and he seems to express regret at his actions against Starbuck, but he is readily willing to carry them out for the greater good of the Cylon Plan.
