Lion's Head Nebula

The Lion's Head Nebula, according to the Scroll of Pythia, was used as a navigational waypoint to Earth by the caravan of the Thirteenth Tribe.

The Scroll's passage notes:

"And the caravan of the heavens was watched over by a great lion with a mighty blinking eye."

The nebula's "eyes" consist of a red and blue pulsars that match that of the scripture's description.

Lieutenant Felix Gaeta briefs President Laura Roslin and Admiral William Adama on this information, based on Gaius Baltar's work, as the Fleet resumes its journey towards Earth.

At approximately the same time, the Cylons have chosen to search for Earth as well to make it their new home. Dr. Baltar, who lives on a basestar with Caprica-Six and other Cylon agents, is coerced into revealing the same research on the nebula. A basestar is tasked to enter the nebula's space before the Colonials and finds an unexpected surprise: A human-made beacon, presumably left by the Thirteenth Tribe.

The beacon is brought aboard the basestar and soon exposes the Cylons to an infection that kills every Cylon construct, be it Cylon agent, Centurion, Raider, or the basestar itself.
