The laser pump is a vital component of a Viper's laser guns. During combat, it appears that the laser pump may be capable of jamming.
During a simulated flight, Starbuck tells Athena that his laser pump is jammed and that she would have to dispatch the Cylon Raider (Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I).
Notes
- This is likely a reference to real-life Laser pumping; the process of transfering energy into a gain medium to increase the energy states of its valence electrons and thus enabling further photon production.
