Farm

The Farms are a series of facilities on occupied Caprica (and presumably the other colonies) constructed by the Cylons in an effort to solve their difficulties with sexual reproduction. One such center, to which Kara Thrace and Sue-Shaun were taken after being wounded in an ambush ("The Farm") held hundreds of women hooked up to medical equipment, being used as living incubators. Starbuck was held separately and had a number of her eggs harvested by a Humano-Cylon who called himself Simon.

In his Podcast for that episode, Ronald D. Moore suggests that "this farm that Kara is part of is one of many that are strewn all over Caprica and the other colonies, trying to conceive, trying to figure out ways that [the Cylons] can reproduce; and one would presume that they're using human women, and in others facilities they're using human men, and that a variety of in vitro programs are being tested..."
