Additionally, chip is a slang term for a miniaturized electronic circuit. The term has appeared numerous times in the Re-imagined Series, namely in an attempt to describe the nature of the Virtual Six that Gaius Baltar "interacts" with. Later, in "Revelations", William Adama voices his initial, but incorrect belief that Saul Tigh was implanted with a chip on New Caprica after Tigh confesses that he is a member of the Final Five; Adama wrongly and emotionally posits that this confession was false, and was part of a Cylon trick to make Tigh think he was a Cylon.
