They assert at some point that they are in fact human and not an alien race (saying something like "are we not human?"), though it is not clear what relation their group or planet had to the Twelve Colonies. Mature nomen have beards and carry weapons called laser bolas.
When first encountered in The Man with Nine Lives they are on a blood hunt for Chameleon.
