"Blackshirt" is a derrogatory term for Council Security. (Greetings from Earth). It is akin to the use of the word "pig" to describe a civilian officer of the law.

Notes[edit]

  • In the real world, the term "Blackshirt" was used for paramilitaries supporting Mussolini's fascist regime. Cf. also "Redcoat".
  • BSG's use of this term may have inspired the term "Brownshirt" in the much later science fiction TV series Firefly, which may in turn have been inspired by the Nazi Stormtroops.
