Upon arrival, it is reveled that she intends to upload a Cylon virus to a comm relay, however this turns out to be a ruse when Coker discovers she is actually uploading information about the Ghost Fleet hiding away. This in turn is a ruse itself, to lure much of the Cylon fleet away from their bases, and by the time they jump to the fleet's location, they are long gone. While this was being uncovered, she is shot by Coker, and then left for dead. She is discovered by an [[Cylon_Models#Inorganic_Humanoids|unknown Cylon model]], which then breaks her neck (''[[Blood and Chrome]]'').

Beka Kelly is a civilian software engineer working with the Colonial Fleet during the First Cylon War. She was previously employed by Graystone Industries, where she was involved in the production of Cylons and the last upgrade to their programming before the Cylons rebelled against the Colonies.

Becca's Mission[edit]

Ten years into the war, Ensign William Adama and ECO Coker Fasjovik are ordered to transport Kelly aboard the Raptor Wild Weasel to the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards in an apparently routine mission. Once out of DRADIS range of the battlestar Galactica, Kelly presents new orders from the Colonial Fleet and a new destination: the battlestar Archeron in Sector 12, near Cylon-controlled space. After arriving at the rendezvous point and discovering that Archeron has been destroyed, Kelly orders the Raptor to a set of coordinates deep in Cylon-controlled space, leading them to a secret Colonial "ghost" fleet. Hitching a ride on the battlestar Osiris, Becca is delivered to the moon Djerba.

Upon arrival, Kelly sets off to rendezvous with a spec ops team, and the sole surviving member, Xander Toth leads them to a former ski lodge, now used by the Cylons to store "spare parts" (human parts). Toth allows her rack time, and after settling in, she and Adama "break the ice". After a platoon of Centurions attack the lodge, Kelly gets scared and wanders off. She is discovered by an attacking Centurion, who has her dead to rights, however it stops and scans a special digital dog tag she is wearing. The Centurion is subsequently destroyed by Coker, but not before he sees it let her off the hook.

After being forced at gun point, Kelly finally comes clean about her plan, which is apparently to upload a virus to a Cylon comm relay. However, upon doing so, Coker realizes she is sympathizing with the Cylons and shoots her. Her "virus" is actually information about the ghost fleet the group just came from. At this point, she shoots Coker and then aims her gun at Adama. She claims the Cylons are only defending themselves, however Adama is able to see through her, and is also shot by Kelly. However, the bullet merely grazes Adama and he is able to take Kelly's weapon away from her after it jams. Coker surmises that the Cylons knew about the fleet, and destroyed Archeron as a result of looking for it. Adama destroys her dog tag, and additional computer terminals, stopping the upload.

Kelly is then abandoned by Adama, who flees with Coker in search of rescue. Sometime later, she is discovered by an unknown Cylon model. It studies her for a second before asking "Are you alive?", and then breaks Kelly's neck after feeling no sympathy for her. Kelly is killed by the very creations she is trying to defend (Blood and Chrome).

Aftermath[edit]

Somehow, the Colonial Admiralty knew of her plans, and simply let her go along with them. Kelly's plan actually gave the Colonials a chance to utilize the ghost fleet and attack every Cylon target in five sectors. By the time the Cylons showed up, the fleet was gone, and the damage to the Cylon fleet was done.

Personal Life[edit]

Before the War, Becca was married to a Colonial Marine named Ezra Barzel, who supposedly takes out an entire Cylon platoon single handed, which spurs military enlistment. However, it is a mere cover story, Ezra's scouting party having been shot up by men from his own unit.

Notes[edit]

  • Early information on Beka Kelly revealed her to be an "enigmatic, seemingly impenetrable software genius who gives Adama a run for his money in more ways than one." [1]
