| Her exact function is unclear, however, her tomb is on [[Kobol]] ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]], [[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]), which suggests that the Lords of Kobol may not be immortal, but can suffer death, either through natural causes, or due to accident or other event.

| ===Greek Mythology===
| |
| | |
| In Greek mythology, Athena is the daughter of Zeus who sprang from his forehead as a full grown adult in armour, the result of Zeus having turned her mother into a fly and swallowing her immediately after bedding her. She is the goddess of the city, handicrafts and agriculture and fierce in battle – but will only fight to protect the state and home from outside enemies. The favourite of Zeus’ offspring, a virgin goddess imbued with wisdom, reason, and purity.

| | |
| ===Possible Parallel===
| |
| | |
| Athena was the protector of the state and home. Kobol was subject to a cataclysmic event that forced its people to leave in a mass exodus. Could war be behind the both events. The Greek Gods are pernicious. Were the [[Lords of Kobol]]? Did Athena fall protecting a city [[Kobol]]?
