Hello! I'm Jeremy, from Flushing, Michigan, USA. I work in Information Technology for the University of Michigan Health System. I tend to be a generalist, minimalist, humanist, and a fatalist. Or at least a cynic. :) That aside, I'm generally a mellow and nice gentleman (sometimes to my detriment). I am a [[Special:Listusers/sysop|Chief]] (administrator) here at Battlestar Wiki, please don't hesitate to contact me if I can assist you.

I think I'm funny, which leads to much activity on [[Frakr:Main Page|Wiki Frakr]]. Come join in with the wackiness! Our [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|fearless leader]] has a serious comedic side. No really, I mean it! :) [[Frakr:He That Puteth In Me|See here if you don't believe me]].
Some of my other interests:

*I play bass guitar, some guitar, a little drums, and I sing a bit. Would love to tack piano/keyboard on there at some point. I can't read music, but I was gifted with a great ear (genetic legacy from my father and his father before him) and a good sense of timing.

*Generally I am interested in most all things science fiction, but I am a huge [[w:Dune (novel)|Dune]] fan. I own the entire series in hardback (yes, even the less-than-inspiring Prequels and Legends) and I consider the original Dune novel one of the finest works of human literature ever. [[w:God Emperor of Dune|God Emperor of Dune]] is another in the series that I hold in high esteem.

*I enjoy writing as well as reading. I would someday like to write a novel; for now I am sharpening my skills by writing short stories in some of my favorite universes. Yes, I know, fan fiction, the dregs ... but I hold myself to an extremely high standard; I limit my story length, avoid use of major characters, pick a theme for the story and stick to it. You will find no "Picard and Crusher get it on" crap in my portfolio. I have completed a story set in the [[w:The Matrix|The Matrix]] universe titled "Thicker Than Water" ... I'll probably make it available for the community's comments at some point soon.

*I love animals in general and dogs in particular. I miss my beautiful, intelligent, well-behaved white wolf/German shepherd mix named Minerva, every day. She lived in the bosom of my family for 11 awesome years.
* ''[[Romo Lampkin]] (ostensibly) confides in Caprica about his tortured romantic past:''
: '''Lampkin:''' I loved a woman. Beautiful, beautiful woman. But so serious. This frowning face, trapped in the middle of a daisy. She had a way of walking, processional. As if she were on her way to her own execution. We had ten years. Then it fell apart under its own weight.
: '''Caprica:''' Is that what you wanted?
: '''Lampkin:''' I thought if I could get over her, I could get over anything. I could endure. Conquer. Be a man, stand up to any and all kind of punishment. == Sciffy Thread ==
I reported your discovery [http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopic=2275066 here]. I gave you credit for the find, of course, and hoped that the extra eyes on the subject might help shed some light on the "other" ship. --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 21:16, 9 May 2007 (CDT)
:Excellent. The more eyes on it, the better. Seven letters appear to be the key, so Olympus is possible. I haven't used my Sciffy account in months.... --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 08:02, 10 May 2007 (CDT)
Argh, I hate edit conflicts! Was working on that one at the same time you were. :) [[User:JubalHarshaw|JubalHarshaw]] 12:23, 31 May 2007 (CDT)
:Sorry about that! You have the same thoughts as I do; merging like content that otherwise make articles that are too general and not wiki-specific. I'm working on [[Squadrons of Galactica]] right now. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 12:44, 31 May 2007 (CDT)

== Guyle Fraizer as Colonial One co-pilot ==

Hi there, my source for that is actually that I know Guyle personally (and yes, the one you found on the IMDB is the right one, I'm apparently just an idiot and spelled his name wrong), and he and I talked about it a few times. :) {{unsigned|Zeppo}}

== A Comment From Mrs. Ron ==

[[Terry Dresbach]], a.k.a, "Mrs. Ron" on the Skiffy boards, appreciated [http://forums.scifi.com/index.php?showtopic=2276767&st=120 my comments] on ''Battlestar's'' wrap-up season. Given the many messages in this fast-growing thread, I'm humbled that she noticed it. Her response sums up everything that I loved about the new series. It has given us a great ride, and so long as Ron has a stogie and scotch handy, we'll see more good things from him. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 10:33, 1 June 2007 (CDT)
:I agree. It would be nice to go on, but in the long run it's better to end it on a high point. The main thing I'm disappointed about is that the rest of the show will probably revolve around the search for Earth and the Final Five. Which are far from my favorite themes in the show. I initially liked that it placed character over story and that seems to have changed. But I digress.
:Anyways, I'm indifferent to the usual fan outrage as well these days, and even distanced myself a bit from message boards where constant whining seems to be the norm. When an outstanding show really hasn't been give a chance, I can get behind campaigns and be sad, but a three-hour miniseries, 4 seasons and a TV movie are really more than fair these days. If people want to think that the show was directly canceled by the network that is, as usual, to be expected; I'm willing to give the producers the benefit of the doubt. --[[User:Serenity|Serenity]] 11:18, 1 June 2007 (CDT)
::Whining is the norm everywhere (except here) at this point, dude --[[User:BklynBruzer|BklynBruzer]] 12:38, 1 June 2007 (CDT)
:::I don't provide any cheese for all that whine, myself. I'm glad that we're not (yet) seeing a spike because of the news, but that may change. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 14:28, 1 June 2007 (CDT)
::::Your comments were great, Spencerian. It basically sums up how I feel. Personally, any time I see a worthwhile TV show survive the dreaded "Firefly" 1 season curse, I smile. Haters will complain about whatever is available; if a show ends, they'll cry about that - if it continues and "doesn't live up", they'll cry about that. Misery loves company. Just another reason to avoid forums. I'd rather be here doing something constructive. [[User:JubalHarshaw|JubalHarshaw]] 14:45, 1 June 2007 (CDT)
:::::Agreed. This place is much more fun. And there is so many roads to go in finding Earth. There is going to be a meeting of minds (and maybe more) in what the Cylons and Colonials truly mean to each other. And it may even leave the story just a little open for a backstory. Just my opinion, but You Heard It Here First. :) Terry notes that, in her opinion, ''Caprica'' will not make it. But there are so many shows that could use a "re-imagining". First, happy birthday! Second, my wife just took the myers-briggs yesterday (during her residency orientation), and came out INTJ. == Question about commas ==

I noticed some weird comma placement in your edits. You always write things "In the episode, "[[Downloaded]]",..."

Why is there a comma ''in front'' of the episode title? Is this some specific grammar rule I don't know about? Because to me it doesn't make any sense to put a comma there. It isn't a separate sentence part and there shouldn't be a pause there. Neither is the episode title a parenthesis, since the sentence doesn't make sense without it :) --[[User:Serenity|Serenity]] 05:28, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

:You're right...it's likely a mental thing. I should write it "In the episode "Downloaded", there was this thing." I suspect I write it that way because episode titles "throw off" the grammar of the sentence when I read them, although they are names and are just objects of the sentence. As a result, I put in a pause to mentally set off the title to prevent confusing it as a element that forms the message of the sentence. It's like this example.

In the episode "You Should Have Watched Yesterday", Tom dies."

:The quotations are supposed to set the episode apart, but it never works for me. Not that I should go and reinvent English grammar, however. I'll work my way out of the two-comma habit. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 13:20, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

::Ah ok. That makes some sense. It wasn't meant as huge criticism and you don't have to go around changing everything. Just something I noticed and wondered about. --[[User:Serenity|Serenity]] 13:25, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

:::By the way, I think commas go inside quotes --[[User:BklynBruzer|BklynBruzer]] 21:54, 25 July 2007 (CDT)
:::For episodes, I think any punctuation goes outside the quotes/parenthesis unless separating more than one episode. --[[User:Veepz|Veepz]] 22:05, 25 July 2007 (CDT)
::::Yeah, generally we use American punctuation, though personally I hate it, since it doesn't make sense either. But we decided to make an exception for episode titles, since they aren't really quotes. It just looks bad to put the punctuation inside in that case. --[[User:Serenity|Serenity]] 05:17, 26 July 2007 (CDT)
:::::I'm having a strange [http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/Battlestar_Wiki_talk:Standards_and_Conventions/Archive4#American_style_punctuation_with_episode_titles sense of de'ja vu.] I just got used to putting punctuation OUTSIDE of quotes after the change. About a month ago, you said that the wiki would be going to a standby mode or something (I don't remember the details and I can't check them because every attempt to access my talk page results in an error message). Do you know if the recent problems (main page and inability to edit a few other pages plus the aforementioned talk page, in addition to ongoing French and German site issues) are related to this "standby mode"? Hey, Jubal. Looks like you and Blue have been keeping the dust off the old wiki.

'''Syfy''', formerly known as '''SCI FI''' or the '''Sci Fi Channel''', is an American cable television channel, launched on September 24, 1992, specializing in science fiction, fantasy, horror, paranormal entertainment, and other non-science fiction related programming. The network is owned by [[w:NBC Universal|NBC Universal]].

Syfy owns initial broadcast rights for airing the [[Re-imagined Series]] in [[w:SDTV|standard definition]]. On a few occasions, episodes of the Re-imagined Series have been broadcast on NBC Television itself. On October 3, 2007, [[w:DirecTV|DirecTV]] added an HD version of the channel.<ref>[http://www.tvpredictions.com/dsix100307.htm DIRECTV Adds Six HD Channels ]</ref> [http://www.dish.com Dish Network] begin broadcasting the channel in HD on April 18, 2008. However, the Re-imagined Series in HDTV is flagged with a [[w:broadcast flag|broadcast flag]]<ref>The broadcast flag is a form of [[w:Digital Rights Management|Digital Rights Management]] (DRM) that forces the reduction of quality when recording (such as reducing high-definition video to the resolution of standard TVs), as evidenced by the HDTV Season 4 screen captures on Battlestar Wiki.</ref>.

In addition to the new ''Battlestar Galactica'' series and its spinoff, ''[[Caprica (series)|Caprica]]'', Syfy also aired the [[Original Series]] and ''[[Galactica 1980]]'' prior to launching the Re-imagined Series.

Syfy has also aired encore presentations of the NBC Television show ''[[w:Heroes (TV show)|Heroes]]'' in coordination with its parent company.

Originally-created made-for-TV movies as well as theatrically released motion pictures are also a Syfy staple.

Other originally-created or separately-produced popular programming on Syfy, past and present, include:

*''[[w:Babylon 5|Babylon 5]]''
*''[[w:Doctor Who|Doctor Who]]'' (2005 revived series)
'''Gaeta's Mutiny''' is an attempted coup led by Junior Lieutenant [[Felix Gaeta]] and Vice President [[Tom Zarek]] to overthrow both President [[Laura Roslin]] and Admiral [[William Adama]] following their establishment of an alliance with the [[Cylon (RDM)|Cylon]] [[Rebel basestar|rebel faction]].

==Causes==
Following the discovery of [[Earth (RDM)|Earth]], tensions within the Fleet begin to rise. Roslin's power as a religious icon diminishes, and she largely withdraws from her official duties. Recognizing the desperate situation of the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]], Adama proposes an alliance with the rebel Cylons, whereby the Cylons will upgrade the Fleet's [[FTL]] drives, thus tripling their jump range, in exchange for protection from ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' and a seat on the [[Quorum of Twelve (RDM)|Quorum of Twelve]]. Though the Quorum of Twelve, led by Zarek, votes against allowing the Cylons to board ships in the Fleet, Adama declares the matter a military decision, overruling the Quorum and permitting the Cylons to install the upgrades. When the workers on the Fleet's refinery ship ''[[Hitei Kan]]'' revolt, kill the Cylon work crew and ''Galactica'' [[Colonial Marines|Marines]] aboard and jump the ship, Adama has Zarek arrested. Having become more disturbed by Adama's actions, Gaeta begins to quietly build support among members of the crew and, following the events on ''Hitei Kan'', meets with Zarek in the [[brig]]. There, the two men agree that Adama and Roslin must be removed from power in order to prevent the alliance and restore democracy ([[TRS]]: "[[A Disquiet Follows My Soul]]").

==Timeline==

===0600 - 0800===

* '''0620''' - Admiral [[William Adama]] and Colonel [[Saul Tigh]] meet for a standard morning briefing in Adama's quarters, where [[Laura Roslin]] is also staying.

* '''0623''' - Junior Lieutenant [[Felix Gaeta]] and a group of [[Colonial Marines|marines]] free Vice President [[Tom Zarek]] from the [[brig]] and escorts him to the [[hangar deck]], where Lieutenant [[Margaret Edmondson|Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson]] convinces the deck crew and assembled civilians that her [[Raptor]] is leaking fuel and orders them all to evacuate the Deck. Zarek, Gaeta and the marines approach the Raptor but are interrupted by Deck Chief [[Peter Laird]]. Laird notes that the Raptor is scheduled for an emergency medical transport and not a VIP shuttle. While Gaeta unsuccessfully attempts to explain the situation, Zarek manages to sneak up behind Laird and kills him with a wrench. Zarek boards the Raptor and departs for ''[[Colonial One]]''.

* '''0704''' - When Gaeta reports for duty, Lieutenant [[Louis Hoshi]] notices that there is a launch in progress and that he doesn't have any scheduled in the flight log. Gaeta responds that maybe it is an error and that he should look over the flight log for an update by Laird. When he finds none in the flight log, he suggests calling down to the flight deck. Gaeta stops him and points out that there is not a transponder signal and when Tigh questions Gaeta, his response is that it is probably a [[DRADIS]] ghost. Given the condition of ''Galactica'' and the difficulties in maintaining the battlestar, the Admiral and XO accept this explanation, permitting Zarek to escape to ''[[Colonial One]]''.

* '''0741''' - The [[Quorum of Twelve (RDM)|Quorum of Twelve]] is in an emergency session regarding Zarek's arerst and the issue of the Cylon FTL drives when Zarek walks into the room, surprising everyone including Caprican Quorum delegate [[Lee Adama]].

:* Elsewhere, the mutineers begin to systematically take hostage all the [[Humanoid Cylon|Cylons]], as well as any known supporters and familial relations on ''Galactica''. Ensign [[Samuel Anders|Samuel "Longshot" Anders]] is the first, distracted by Ensign [[Diana Seelix|Diana "Hardball" Seelix]] and then hoodwinked and beaten by Lance Corporal [[Maldonaldo]] and Sergeant [[Allan Nowart]].

:* In CIC, everything goes according to plan as an alarm sounds, indicating a fire on C Deck near the main antennas. Adama orders in the damage control (DC) units, but Gaeta points out that the fire might not be an accident and that they will be in the dark if the antenna array goes down. Adama orders a Marine detail to escort the DC units, thus allowing more Marines to join the mutineers in the forward section of C Deck, raiding the small arms locker.

===0800 - 1000===

* '''0812''' - Captain [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]] is fencing with Junior Lieutenant [[Brendan Constanza|Brendan "Hot Dog" Constanza]] about [[Nicholas Tyrol|his fatherhood]] and sexual prowess in the Officers' Quarters, when the loudspeaker announces the fire. Thrace confronts Lieutenant [[Noel Allison|Noel "Narcho" Allison]] about fire control duties and is rudely rebuffed. Immediately suspicious, Thrace comes upon Marines and civilians, led by [[Charlie Connor]], arming themselves and discussing battle plans. Thrace arms herself in turn and tries to warn CIC, but Gaeta refuses to let her speak to the Admiral.

:* Lee Adama attempts to contact his father to find out the reasoning behind Zarek's release. Zarek suggests to Lee, who is having trouble getting a hold of his father on ''Galactica'', that the Admiral only released him because he didn't believe the civilian government posed a threat to his authority. Lee leaves to prove Zarek wrong, thus leaving the Quorum to Zarek.

:* In the CIC Gaeta informs Adama and Tigh that they have lost communications ship-wide, as well as backups.

* '''0902''' - On the hangar deck, Lee is greeted by Marines and [[Charlie Connor]] who proceed to rough him up and take him hostage. Before they are able to do anything more, Thrace interrupts and kills the marine pointing a gun at Lee's head. Following this, she shoots [[Hamish McCall|Hamish "Skulls" McCall]] in the shoulder. She forces the others to release Lee and the two escape.

:* The mutineers seize the Agathons in their quarters. Junior Lieutenant [[Sharon Agathon|Sharon "Athena" Agathon]] and [[Hera Agathon|Hera]] are taken hostage. Captain [[Karl Agathon|Karl "Helo" Agathon]] is confronted by [[Gage|Specialist Gage]], then pistol-whipped into unconsciousness.

:* Thrace and Lee regroup in a dry storage locker, and plan their next move.

* '''0908''' - Back in the CIC, Hoshi realizes that the devices used to scan for carbon monoxide sensors should be going through the roof, but he only reads normal levels. Adama is tired of being blind and sends his personal Marine, Private [[Stewart Jaffee]], to go to C Deck and report back.

:* All three Agathons are thrown in the brig, where they find [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Samuel Anders]]. Athena reasons that they are needed alive as bargaining chips for the rebel Cylons.

* '''0913''' - Lee and Kara make their way through ''Galactica''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> F Deck, where pitched battles between civilians and Marines are taking place.

* '''0922''' - Private Jaffee returns and reports what he has found, Gaeta suddenly orders the Marines to take Adama, Tigh, Hoshi and the senior staff into custody. Rebel Marines draw their weapons and surround the Admiral and his staff. A brief firefight ensues in which Jaffee is killed. Adama reluctantly orders his men to stand down. He and Gaeta then exchange harsh words, both accusing the other of betraying their oaths to defend the ship and her crew. Before he is escorted off the [[CIC]], Adama warns that there will be neither forgiveness nor amnesty for those involved in the mutiny.

* '''0925''' - Thrace and Lee Adama make it to [[Laura Roslin]], informing her of the situation and how desperate it is. Roslin decides to come out and publicly address the Fleet in hopes that they will listen to her. However, with communications down, they have no way to contact the rest of the Fleet. Roslin knows of a way they can get a message out: [[Gaius Baltar]]'s [[wireless]].

* '''0934''' - Gaeta has taken command in CIC, and when Specialist [[Gage]] hestitates to follow an order, he is reminded firmly by Gaeta to "stay with us."

* '''0942''' - Thrace, Roslin, and Lee make it to Baltar's compartment, where [[Galen Tyrol]] is organizing a defense against the mutineers. Tyrol informs them that the Admiral has been captured and warns them against using the ship communications system. Thrace and Lee rush off to find Adama.

* '''0947''' - Adama and Tigh overcome their marine guards, killing Maldonaldo and taking Nowart prisoner. They arm themselves with the Marines's pistols and rifles.

:*Roslin tries to convince Baltar to let her use his pirate transmitter. He acquiesces, against [[Paulla Schaffer]]'s advice.

* '''0956''' - Adama and Tigh observe Connor giving orders to a mixed group of civilians and Marines. They question their prisoner as to their destination, learning that all essential personnel and Cylons were being put in the brig on Gaeta's orders. They move out toward the brig, hoping to secure some allies.

===1000 - 1200===

* '''1012''' - In CIC, Gaeta is informed that the Fleet's ships are attempting to contact ''Galactica''. He has them put on speaker and requests a secure line to Zarek. Gaeta reports to Zarek that ''Galactica'' is secured under his control and that Admiral Adama is under guard. Zarek ruefully notes that Adama still being alive is a loose end, but congratulates Felix with some flowery phrases. Gaeta replies that they can "fine-tune their rationalizations later."

:*Suddenly, Roslin's voice cuts through the babble of ships' captains, urging calm, explaining the reasons behind the Cylon-Human alliance, and urging them to keep the faith and to not follow the traitorous elements. Gaeta jams the transmission, but not before the people hear most of what Roslin had to say.

* '''1017''' - Elsewhere, Adama and Tigh run into Thrace and Lee at the brig, where others are being held. The brig is too heavily guarded, so they decide to regroup with Tyrol at a secondary airlock.

* '''1021''' - Roslin and Baltar discuss Gaeta and their mutual bad judgment in presidential aides.

* '''1023''' - Kara, Lee, Tigh, and Adama regroup. While Thrace scouts ahead, Lee and Tigh argue about Cylons and humans before Adama tells them both to shut up. They then head toward the secondary airlock.

* '''1027''' - Baltar makes a personal call to Gaeta attempting to bring him to his senses, but fails. A Raptor coming from the Cylon baseship is detected on [[DRADIS]]. Gaeta realizes they are not headed to the hangar deck.

* '''1032''' - The Raptor docks at the secondary storage airlock, where the Adamas, Tigh, Thrace, Tyrol, Roslin, and Baltar are waiting. Roslin and Baltar board the Raptor which heads off for the rebel Basestar, while Admiral Adama and Tigh stay behind to cover the president's escape and try to retake the ship from the mutineers. Thrace, Lee, and Tyrol head off to continue their fight elsewhere.

:*Gaeta orders Narcho to destroy the fleeing [[Raptor]], meanwhile Admiral Adama and Tigh engage the Marines attempting to break into the airlock.

* '''1041''' - President Roslin and [[Gaius Baltar]] manage to escape ''Galactica'' on a Raptor to the Cylon baseship. Gaeta tries to have her shot down, but after Roslin identifies herself Constanza—apparently not in on the mutiny—hesitates and allows Roslin to make it to the baseship safely despite Narcho's attempts to destroy the Raptor. Tigh and Adama are captured by Marines led by [[Aaron Kelly]] after being knocked out by a stun grenade, Adama having decided to stay behind to try to retake the ship and Tigh supporting him.

* '''1051''' - Roslin and Baltar meet with the rebel Cylons on the baseship. The Cylons on the baseship want to flee, but Roslin manages to convince them to stay and support Adama.

:*Kelly returns Adama to Gaeta in CIC, attempting to force him to tell Roslin to surrender. Adama refuses and removes his rank insignia, telling Gaeta to call Roslin himself and "make her laugh."

:*The Cylons move their ship further into the Fleet for protection but Gaeta has it scatter, quarantining the baseship.

* '''1116''' - Zarek, the [[Quorum of Twelve (RDM)|Quorum]] in tow, arrives on ''Galactica'', observed by Lee and Starbuck.

* '''1118''' - Roslin attempts to make a broadcast to the Fleet with no luck.

:*Gaeta and Zarek meet, discussing the presence of the Quorum, and a trial for Adama.

*'''1131''' - Tyrol sees [[Romo Lampkin]] being escorted by Kelly and several Marines to the Admiral's Quarters.

*'''1148''' - Admiral Adama is tried for various crimes with Gaeta (now a Commander) as the people's representative and Zarek as the judge with Romo Lampkin as Adama's lawyer.

:*Tyrol enters the ship's vents.

===1200 - 1400===

* '''1222''' - Zarek tries to convince the Quorum to accept the state of affairs, but when Sagittaron delegate [[Jacob Cantrell]] asks him to leave, apparently supporting Roslin, he has them murdered. Kelly is visibly disturbed by this event.

* '''1245''' - Felix Gaeta views the dead bodies of the Quorum with shock and horror and confronts Zarek angrily. Zarek retorts that there is no turning back and that Adama must be executed.

:* Tyrol crawls through the ship's vents.

* '''1248''' - [[Tory Foster]] informs Roslin that the Cylons have decided to jump away. Roslin refuses to accept this, and talks passionately to the Cylons, convincing them to stay.

:* Tyrol exits the crawlspace at an arms locker where Kelly ambushes him only to let him go after sharing a brief rapport; Kelly's support of the mutiny continues to falter.

:* Lampkin tries to convince Adama to sign a statement, but he refuses to betray his beliefs. Lampkin whispers to him that his people are working to retake the ship and to give them time, but he is pushed away by Marine [[Parr]].

:* Baltar is comforted on the baseship by [[Lida]].

* '''1337''' - [[Lee Adama]] and [[Kara Thrace]], still free, manage to break into the brig and rescue the Cylons and Karl Agathon, and they join the two in the battle to retake the ship. Anders is seriously wounded and Kara stays behind to get him to Doctor [[Sherman Cottle]] for medical treatment while Caprica Six, Hera and the injured Helo go to Baltar's cult to hide out, reasoning that no one wants to go near there and they'll be safe.

* '''1342''' - Adama's trial continues, Zarek is informed that the prisoners have escaped. He lies to Adama, telling him that Tigh was killed trying to escape. Adama refuses to answer any more questions, and he is sentenced to death by firing squad.

:* Roslin manages to make a broadcast with help from [[Leoben Conoy]] about the mutiny, asking the civilian ships to shut down their FTL drives just before she is jammed again.

:* Lampkin, being escorted from the "trial" by Parr, comes across Thrace and Anders. He breaks free, killing Parr and is finally convinced by Thrace to assist her in get help for Anders.

===1400 - 1600 ===

* '''1435''' - 10 ships of 35 follow Roslin's orders and shut down their FTL drives. Gaeta gives jump coordinates to the remaining 25 and then has a firing squad led by Allison take Adama to a [[launch tube]] to be executed.

* '''1447''' - Kelly, Allison, and Marines lead Adama to a launch tube. Kelly leaves the entourage and breaks down with remorse in the [[memorial hallway]]. He is found by Lee, Tigh, and Athena and tells them where Adama was being taken. Kelly renounces the mutiny and joins them.

:* On the baseship, Baltar dreams of Adama being executed. He is again comforted by Lida, but this time he decides to return to ''Galactica'', realizing he has a responsibility to his followers there.

* '''1502''' - On the hangar deck, Adama is bound to a chair before a firing squad.

* '''1524''' - Roslin hails ''Galactica'' to demand Zarek and Gaeta's surrender.

:* Gaeta gets confirmation that Adama was executed. In reality he was rescued by Lee, Tigh, Athena and Kelly.

:* Adama convinces the firing squad to aid him in recapturing the ship, but Narcho, despite his respect for the Admiral, refuses to help anyone who won't fight the Cylons. Adama stops Tigh from executing Allison on the spot and instead has Allison tied up.

:* Tyrol continues down the crawlway.

:* In an attempt to get her to surrender in turn, Zarek claims to Roslin that Tigh was killed escaping and Adama was executed, but this only strengthens her resolve and has the baseship's weapons turned on ''Galactica''.

* '''1528''' - Gaeta sets the jump coordinates and prepares to jump ''Galactica''.

:* Tyrol arrives in the engine room.

:* Adama, Lee, Tigh, Athena, Kelly, the Marine squad, and a gathering crowd of other loyalists make their way towards the CIC.

:* Gaeta tries to jump, but Tyrol manages to manually disable the FTL drive. Zarek begins to panic. Specialist [[Gage]] turns ''Galactica's'' weapons on the baseship. Realizing he's lost, Gaeta orders him to stand down. Seconds later, Adama and his men storm CIC and retake it without firing a shot, ending the mutiny. Adama contacts the baseship and gets Roslin and the Cylons to stand down now that he's back in command again.

* '''1532''' - Galactica's CIC is secured by Admiral Adama and his loyalists. Gaeta and Zarek are led away.

:* Tyrol discovers ominous signs of structural damage in the engine room.

==Aftermath==
Gaeta and Zarek are executed by firing squad for their crimes at some later point ([[TRS]]: "[[Blood on the Scales]]"). The remaining mutineers are imprisoned on the ''[[Astral Queen]]'', though they are later freed in exchange for participating in the [[Battle of The Colony]] ([[TRS]]: "[[Deadlock]]" [[Podcast:Deadlock|podcast]]; "[[Daybreak, Part I]]").

Ironically, the mutiny ends up accomplishing the exact opposite of what it was intended to do. With a considerable number of ''Galactica'''s crew dead or imprisoned, the Colonials start flying joint CAPs with the rebel Cylons. In addition, there is a shortage of [[Colonial Marines|Marines]] on ''Galactica''. Adama refuses to let [[Centurions]] on board the ship and instead decides to arm [[Cult of Baltar|Baltar's cult]] to help control the civilian population in [[Dogsville]] ([[TRS]]: "[[Deadlock]]").

Furthermore, it is during the final stages of this mutiny that Tyrol discovers ominous signs of wear and tear on ''Galactica''. Admiral Adama reluctantly agrees to allow Tyrol to use Cylon bio-technology and Cylon work crews from the baseship to fix the damage ([[TRS]]: "[[No Exit]]").

With the [[Quorum of Twelve (RDM)|Quorum of Twelve]] decimated, it is replaced by the [[Quorum of Ships' Captains]] at Lee Adama's suggestion. The Quorum now comprises of captains representing the individual ships of the Fleet, rather than politicians representing the extinct Twelve Colonies. The Cylons are allowed to send their own representative to this new Quorum in the form of [[Sonja]] ([[TRS]]: "[[Someone to Watch Over Me]]").
Hello! I'm Jeremy M. Harris, from Flint, Michigan, USA.

: '''Caprica:''' Is that what you wanted?
: '''Lampkin:''' I thought if I could get over her, I could get over anything. I could endure. Conquer. Be a man, stand up to any and all kind of punishment.
== Welcome to Battlestar Wiki! ==

Greetings, {{PAGENAME}}, and welcome to Battlestar Wiki! I'm pleased to tell you that you have full editing privileges on every wiki in the Battlestar Wiki network. I hope you enjoy your stay with us and am looking forward to your contributions to the Wiki! Why not begin by telling us a bit about yourself on your own [[User:{{PAGENAME}}|user page]]?

As you may already know, Battlestar Wiki covers all the ''Battlestar Galactica'' series from past to present, in addition to authorized merchandise and [[BW:SEPCON|separate continuity]] materials such as comics and tie-in novels. '''We do not cover fan fiction.''' We're also not a discussion site, although we do have an ever-growing [http://www.battlestarforum.com Battlestar Forum] where people can discuss the various shows and non-BSG topics as well!

To get started on the wiki, we suggest that you check out our [[BW:TUT|tutorial]], experiment in [[BW:SAND|the sandbox]] (a test editing area for those learning wiki code), and review some of our basic [[BW:POL|policies]] (which have important differences from other SF wikis). For some general questions and answers about the navigation and operation of the Wiki, check out the [[Battlestar Wiki:FAQ|Frequently Asked Questions]] (FAQ).

Of course, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you are more than welcome to bring them up at the [[BW:CN|Chiefs' noticeboard]] (which is frequented by the administrators of the Wiki) and at the [[BW:GQ|Galactipedians' Quorum]] (which is the hub for contributors, who are called "Galactipedians").

Furthermore, if you don't wish to see the ads, then please consider upgrading your account to a [[BW:MEMBERSHIP|paid membership]], which costs only $10 USD a year and helps support the wiki financially. This membership also extends to the [http://www.battlestarforum.com Battlestar Forum], where you can talk to other members about the show and most anything that you want to talk about to BSG fans! We think this is very cool, and we hope you do as well!

Thank you for joining us! Hope to see you soon! -- [[User:JubalHarshaw|JubalHarshaw]] 21:23, 1 November 2011 (EDT)
JubalHarshawhttps://en.battlestarwiki.org/w/index.php?title=User:Cokeandpoprocks&diff=206353User:Cokeandpoprocks2011-11-02T01:23:01Z
JubalHarshaw: userpage

'''Ryan Robbins''' is an actor who portrayed two roles on the [[Battlestar Galactica (RDM)|re-imagined ''Battlestar Galactica'']]: the [[Armistice Officer]] in the [[Miniseries]], and [[Charlie Connor]] in [[Season 3 (2006-07)|Season 3]] and [[Season 4 (2008-09)|Season 4]]. He also portrayed the [[STO]] soldier and trainer [[Diego]] in [[Caprica (series)|''Caprica'']].

Robbins, a fan of [[Battlestar Galactica (TOS)|the Original Series]], has a circus background, similar to that of actor [[Richard Hatch]] (the original [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]]). Robbins has also acted in theater, starting when he was "quite young", and was a musician prior to acting.<ref name="TSW">{{cite_web|url=http://www.thescifiworld.net/interviews/ryan_robbins_01.htm|title=The Sci-Fi World: Ryan Robbins interview|date=20 December 2006|accessdate=16 February 2007|last=Craddock|first=Linda|format=|language=}}</ref>

After the Miniseries, Robbins worked on the 2004 dark comedy, ''Men Feel Pain'', playing a "guy going through a really rough time" who is "so desperate to have somebody make my life better [that] I find [a] poor guy and bring all these other people to him and [eventually] decides that he’s going to be the one who saves us all".<ref name="TSW"/> The role resulted in Robbin's winning the 2005 [[w:Leo Award|Leo Award]] for "Best Performance By A Male in a Short Drama"<ref name="leo 2005">{{cite_web|url=http://www.leoawards.com/2005_winners.html|title=LEO AWARDS, 2005 Winners|date=|accessdate=16 February 2007|last=|first=|format=|language=}}</ref>.

Robbins later won an award as "Best Actor" from the Sacramento Film Festival for his role in 2005's ''When Jesse Was Born'', portraying a young father who tries to make a good life for his family through criminal activities.<ref name="TSW"/>

Outside of ''Battlestar'', he also portrayed Ladon Radim, a Genii scientist-turned-leader in ''[[w:Stargate Atlantis|Stargate Atlantis]]'' in multiple episodes, as well as the character Sands in two episodes of the short-lived ''[[w:Blade (TV series)|Blade]]'' television series. He also plays the character of [[w:Henry Foss (Sanctuary)|Henry Foss]] in the ''[[w:Sanctuary (TV series)|Sanctuary]]'' television series.

As of 2006, Robbins was married, and had a three-year-old daughter.<ref name="TSW"/>

The '''Ha'la'tha''' is a [[Tauron (RDM)|Tauron]]-based criminal organization also operating on [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]]. The organization's name is Tauron for "always faithful to the soil" ([[CAP]]: "[[False Labor]]"). Its leader is known as the [[Guatrau]].

Members sport [[Tattoo|tattoos]] on their faces and across the length of their bodies, but one tattoo that all members must have is one that visually represents the oath a member swore upon entering the organization. <ref name="Sam Tattoos">{{cite_web|url=http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/show-patrol/2010/02/exclusive-caprica-producer-jane-espenson-explains-sam-adamas-tattoos.html|title=Exclusive: 'Caprica' producer Jane Espenson explains Sam Adama's tattoos|date=February 17, 2010|accessdate=March 25, 2010|last=Wagner|first=Curt|format=|language=}}</ref> Tattooing is a custom followed across Tauron society, but many on Caprica associate it exclusively with the Ha'la'tha ([[CAP]]: "[[Gravedancing]]").

In addition to those who are members of the organization, the Ha'la'tha also maintains an extensive network of connections that reaches powerful levels of business and government. [[Tomas Vergis]], CEO of the [[Vergis Corporation]], is a close friend of the Guatrau. By assisting [[Daniel Graystone]] in reacquiring the leadership of [[Graystone Industries]], the Ha'la'tha becomes a quiet partner in the company's business activities ([[CAP]]: "[[Unvanquished]]," "[[Things We Lock Away]]"). The syndicate paid for the legal education of [[Joseph Adama]], brother of full member and enforcer [[Sam Adama]], and employs him as a mob lawyer ([[CAP]]: [[Caprica pilot|''Caprica'' pilot]]). For a time, [[Val Chambers]] had benefited from his relationship with the Ha'la'tha in his climb through the ranks of Caprican government, to the position of defense minister; however, after taking that office, Chambers had turned against the Ha'la'tha, and was murdered for that decision ([[CAP]]: [[Caprica pilot]]).

93 years [[BCH]], the [[Tauron Civil War]] resulted from the conflict between the Ha'la'tha and the Tauron democratic government ([[The Caprican]]). <ref>[http://showblogs.syfy.com/caprican/opinion/racism-an-unacceptable-aspect-of-caprican-life.php Racism: An Unacceptable Aspect of Caprican Life]</ref>

==Inclusion of Tamara==
I don't believe that the current sources in [[Tamara Adama]] are adequate to include her in this family tree. She should be removed until official sources on the cast and plot of Caprica become available. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 09:20, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
: Tamara Adama is the daughter of Joseph and the brother of William. I don't see what the problem is. -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] - [[bsp:|Battlestar Pegasus]] 18:55, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
:: (1) Since this information has not been revealed in any aired episode to date, it constitutes a spoiler, and should not be included in articles like [[William Adama]]. (2) Since we cannot cite an aired source, we must cite some other official source. Neither of the two citations in [[Tamara Adama]] are official sources. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 00:04, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
:: Sister, you mean. -- [[User:Noneofyourbusiness|Noneofyourbusiness]] 02:37, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
:::Yes, that's what I meant. That's what I get when trying to do multiple things at once. LOL -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] <sup>[[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] - [[bsp:|Battlestar Pegasus]]</sup> 02:40, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

I've reviewed the issue. Firstly, the issue is that this is from a casting call, which itself is technically an official source, sine the casting call originates from the studio. While I do agree that "Tamara Adams" is a spoiler and shouldn't be included in William Adama's article—at least in its present form—it can be corrected with the use of the "spoiler text" syntax we have at our disposal. Also, if you need an official source to confirm this, then I can be that source, since I do have production access via the [http://www.battlestarprops.com Auction]. -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] - [[bsp:|Battlestar Pegasus]] 05:57, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
: Since no one else nabbed it, I followed my own suggestion and placed the item in spoiler tag syntax on Bill Adama's article and removed the piece from his infobox, since the formatting was bad there. I had to remove it entirely from the family tree, since it didn't look right with the tags either. Won't have to worry about it till 2010 anyway. LOL --[[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] - [[bsp:|Battlestar Pegasus]] 17:17, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
: Agreed. If I don't get to it, [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|smack me in the head with a wet, rotting trout.]] ;-) -- [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Joe Beaudoin]] [[User talk:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|So say we all]] - [[Battlestar Wiki:Site support|Donate]] - [[bsp:|Battlestar Pegasus]] 15:06, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

[[Image:Soldiers of One Logo.jpg|thumb|"Infinity" symbol representing the Soldiers of the One.]]
The '''Soldiers of the One''' (also known as the "'''STO'''") are a group which is the militant arm of the [[Monad Church]] based on [[Gemenon]]. It is active sixty years before the [[Fall of the Colonies]]. Its singular mission is to "drive out the many [[Lords of Kobol (RDM)|Gods]]" and combat the decadence and corruption of Colonial society. They also seek to unite the Twelve Colonies by imposing a single monotheistic faith on all of them. The Caprican government considers them a terrorist criminal organization. Apparently the link between the Monad Church and the Soldiers of the One is still a secret in the Twelve Colonies, or at least officially denied. In some ways the structure and practices of the church seem similar to the medieval Catholic Church, such as in [[Barnabas Greeley]]'s practice of self-flagellation, although in others it is very different (such as in it being led by a woman).

The leadership of the group is based on [[Gemenon]]. They are governed by the matriarch of the church, who is known only as [[Mother|The Mother]]. The church maintains good relations with other, polytheistic faiths, which is resented by many in the STO, including Sister [[Clarice Willow]].

Sister [[Clarice Willow]], headmistress of the [[Athena Academy]], is the clandestine leader of the group on Caprica. She initially reported to [[Barnabas Greeley]] ([[Gravedancing]]), but later was granted leadership over all STO cells on Caprica by The Mother after she carried out a coup on Gemenon. Other members include her students [[Lacy Rand]], [[Ben Stark]], [[Zoe Graystone]], [[Keon Gatwick]], [[Pan]] and [[Hippolyta]]. At least two -- Stark and Gatwick -- collected explosives.

Zoe Graystone had intended to seek refuge with the church on Gemenon prior to her death. She had plans to further the Soldiers of the One's mission that involved the process of [[apotheosis]].

==History==
The origins of the STO are as yet unknown. Officer Duram tells [[Amanda Graystone]] that Sister Clarice was born on Gemenon at a time when the STO was actively recruiting members "to protect the new church," implying that the Monad Church and the STO are not much more than a few decades old (the exact age of Clarice is unknown). It has also been said that, after an earlier time of conflict, the STO went dormant ten years prior to the bombing of [[Maglev 23]]. In [[Unvanquished]], Sister Clarice claims that the STO was the only thing that allowed the church to survive during an unspecified period of challenges.

A number of STO members intended to flee to [[Gemenon]]—[[Zoe Graystone]], [[Ben Stark]] and [[Lacy Rand]]. However, Rand pulled out of the trip at the last minute and further, Stark was wearing a suicide vest, which he blew up on Maglev 23—much to the surprise of Graystone, who was herself killed in the bombing.

Sister Willow refers to this as "premature" and "unauthorized" (''[[Caprica (series)|Caprica]]'').<ref>{{cite_web|url=http://thetvaddict.com/2008/04/23/the-tv-addict-previews-battlestar-galactica-prequel-caprica/|title=The TV Addict Previews BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Prequel CAPRICA|date=23 April 2008|accessdate=24 April 2008|last=|first=|format=|language=}}</ref> However, a second attack in Caprica City on an empty building follows soon after. A third attack on the Caprica Spaceport, ordered by Barnabas in a plan to kill Clarice, is attempted but fails.

Clarice Willow and Barnabas Greeley were originally the leaders of two STO factions in Caprica City. The two groups have come into conflict; Barnabas even tried to kill Clarice ([[End of Line]]). This conflict eventually leads Clarice to travel to the church's headquarters on Gemenon, where she presents them with a plan for a devastating suicide attack on [[Atlas Arena]] in Caprica City. Further, she shows them how the [[holoband]]s can be used to create avatars for the dead bombers through apotheosis. This, Clarice believes, can become the church's most powerful tool to recruit new members, since it allows people to see the afterlife in this life. One of the church's elders, [[Obal Ferras]], is disturbed by Clarice's suggestions and asks The Mother for permission to kill her, which is granted. However, Clarice, suspecting his intentions, turns the other STO members against him, and kills him before he can enact his plan. The Mother, clearly horrified by this act, nevertheless feels powerless to stop Clarice, and grants Clarice her request to take command over all STO cells on Caprica. Clarice then returns to Caprica and kills Barnabas and those who are loyal to him.

==Notes==
[[Battlestar Galactica (RDM)|More than sixty years later]] the same symbol utilized by this group is seen at the hands of the [[humanoid Cylons]], being employed during a religious funereal service ([[Islanded in a Stream of Stars]]). The reappearance of the symbol may suggest a direct connection between the religion inherited by the modern Cylon nation from the [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Caprican Centurions]] and that espoused by the Soldiers of the One.
'''Zoe-A''' is a [[holographic avatar]] created by [[Zoe Graystone]] within the [[virtual world]] as a digital recreation of her own consciousness as part of what she believed was a divinely-inspired plan to end the corruption rampant in the [[Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies]]. Zoe-A is a physically (so to speak) separate entity from the original Zoe, but the two have practically identical thoughts and feelings.

[[Lacy Rand]] visits the virtual temple after the bombing to find that the virtual Zoe still exists despite her doppleganger's death. Due to the biofeedback subroutine, she also felt the real Zoe's death, though strangely she is also covered in blood. Daniel Graystone soon becomes aware of the existence of Zoe's avatar with Rand's help. At first, he rejects the avatar as a superficial copy of his daughter. However, she is able to convince him that she is a perfect recreation of her consciousness.

Graystone then tricks Zoe's avatar and downloads her onto a media storage device, planning to insert her into his company's [[Cylon Prototype|U-87 Cyber Combat Unit]] to allow her to live in the real world. Though Zoe rejects this idea, Graystone ignores her protests and loads her into the robot. Though at first the experiment seems to have succeeded, with the robot taking several steps and calling Graystone "daddy", her data quickly becomes corrupted and seemingly irretrievable, and the robot collapses.

Soon afterwords, the robot containing Zoe's avatar is stored at Graystone's lab. Suddenly, the robot reactivates with Zoe's consciousness intact. She reaches a computer terminal and contacts Rand, asking for her help ([[CAP]]: [[Caprica pilot]]).

==Zoe-R==

Zoe finds herself bossed and pushed around in her robot body, as no one else at Graystone Industries is aware that she is present inside the machine and she chooses not to reveal herself to anyone but Lacy Rand. The only other person who treats her well is a young technician called [[Philomon]]. She is taken to the Graystone house for further study, because Daniel has noticed that the [[meta-cognitive processor]] is only working when inserted in one body (the body Zoe is inhabiting). In any other U-87 body, the processor fails to improve their cognitive abilities. She is initially unable to re-enter [[V-World]] because of her lack of an optic nerve ([[CAP]]: "[[Rebirth]]").

Managing to hack a way of accessing V-World, Zoe makes plans with Rand to have herself shipped to Gemenon so that she can fulfill her original purpose. The two of them encounter [[Tamara-A]] and help her escape from the Graystone mainframe into the larger V-World, unwittingly preventing her from meeting [[Joseph Adama]] later that day ([[CAP]]: "[[Reins of a Waterfall]]").

Having decided that Graystone Industries will make no more money off the [[holoband]]s, Daniel takes the U-87 to a meeting of his board to convince them that the future lies in a new direction: the creation of an entire race of Cylons as intelligent but obedient laborers. Zoe-R is forced to tear her own arm off as part of the demonstration ([[CAP]]: "[[There Is Another Sky]]"). The arm is replaced ([[CAP]]: "[[Know Thy Enemy]]").

Having grown fond of Philomon and hoping she can use him to get herself out of the lab, Zoe seizes an opportunity to get closer to him without revealing herself after hearing him complain that he has had no luck finding a date online with a program called V-Match. Zoe creates a V-Match profile for herself under the name Rachel and makes a date with Philo in the V-World. Although Zoe-A disguises herself with virtual glasses, Philo notices her resemblance to the deceased Zoe Graystone. "Rachel" claims that she made her holographic avatar resemble Graystone to scare off the pervs, because Graystone has been one of the most hated figures in the twelve worlds since [[Amanda Graystone|her mother]] announced that she may have bombed [[Maglev|Maglev 27]]. Philo accepts this explanation and asserts that Graystone had principles ([[CAP]]: "[[Know Thy Enemy]]").

Zoe-A and Philomon have a V-date piloting simulated [[Viper (RDM)|atmospheric Viper plane]]s, but make an emergency landing on the virtual beach due to Zoe's poor piloting skills. By sharing her ideas about improving the V-World with generative algorithms, Zoe accidentally gives Philo the notion that Graystone Industries' problems with duplicating the success of the MCP stem from assuming it is digital when it may actually be analog (like a human system). This, combined with the family dog [[Caesar]]'s familiarity with the robot, makes [[Daniel Graystone]] suspect that Zoe's consciousness was not lost and is still present in the U-87 ([[CAP]]: "[[The Imperfections of Memory]]").

Daniel attempts to make Zoe-R expose herself by telling her he will do whatever he can to help her. This fails because she distrusts him, and she continues pretending to be a mere robot. Frustrated, Daniel tries to draw Zoe out by giving her tiresome repetitive tasks while reminiscing about the destruction of their old home in a fire during the original Zoe Graystone's childhood. His nearly burning himself with a cigarette during his monologue provokes a small reaction from the robot, which he takes as confirmation of his suspicions. His subsequent attempt to expose her by surrounding the robot with fire in the yard, playing on Zoe's childhood fear of fire, is unsuccessful. Although she is greatly upset, Zoe-R continues to play dumb and does not leave the circle of fire.

Daniel gives one final test, ordering the U-87 to shoot Caesar the dog, which Zoe would never do. Zoe-R shoots Caesar, but does not kill him because the gun is filled with blanks. Believing his daughter cannot be in the robot after all, Daniel gives up. In V-World, Zoe-A tells Lacy Rand that she knew the gun was filled with blanks because her robot senses told her its weight was off, and confesses that if it had been loaded with real bullets, she might have turned it on her father. She urges Rand to get her to Gemenon before her growing anger with Daniel makes her do something she'll regret ([[CAP]]: "[[Ghosts in the Machine]]").

After enduring Daniel's torment, Zoe-R exhibits several glitches, which, along with a moved-up deadline for production, cause Daniel to order the erasure of the [[MCP]] so Graystone Industries can reverse-engineer it. Knowing that she is out of options, Zoe-R confesses to [[Philomon]] that she is the "Rachel" he's been dating. She asks him to help her escape, and he initially agrees, but instead triggers a security alarm. Enraged, Zoe-R backhands him into a support beam, killing him instantly. She then steals a van, and attempts to flee, only to be stopped at a roadblock by the Caprican military. Despondent at having killed Philomon, and beset by grief due to her interactions with her family and Lacy, Zoe-R attempts to run the roadblock, sending the van into a wild, end-over-end flip ([[CAP]]: "[[End of Line]]").

'''Wilt Chamberlain''' is someone known to [[Arnie]].

He guesses that Chamberlain is underneath the costume of a tin-plated spaceman. However, it isn't Chamberlain, but a full-fledged [[Cylons (1980)|Cylon]] [[Centurion (TOS)|Centurion]] named [[Centuri]] ([[The Night the Cylons Landed, Part II]]).

==Notes==

* Basketball player [[w:Wilt Chamberlain|Wilt Chamberlain]] doesn't appear in this episode, but is the second person from reality to be named in this episode. Music icon [[Wolfman Jack]], however, does appear and plays himself in this episode.

{{Project|Featured Articles|shortcut=BW:FA
BW:FAC
BW:PFAC}}
== Criteria for a Featured Article ==

A featured article should have the following attributes:
*The article should be well-researched with [[Battlestar Wiki:Citation Jihad|proper citations of sources]].
*It needs to contain [[Canon|canonical]] information; [[non-canonical]] information should be avoided, unless it has a purpose such as to dispel a common misconception.
*If the article contains POV content, it must be deemed insightful by a majority of the community.
*The article must be properly copy-edited for grammar and style. See [[Battlestar Wiki:Standards and Conventions]].
*The article should contain no "broken" links.
*The article must have images pertinent to the article, whether in the form of screencaptures, graphs, charts, or diagrams, to name a few.
*The article needs to be contain at least 400 words of content. While a short article is not necessarily a stub (see below), featured articles should contain enough substance to cover at least 150 words.
*All cites should be in the format using the [[BW:CITE|Cite templates]].

If the article has been marked a {{tl|quality article}} it should be given more weight to others without it, but articles do not need the {{tl|quality article}} status to become an FA.

The following '''do not''' qualify as Featured Article candidates:
* [[Battlestar Wiki:Find or fix a stub|Stubs]]
* Talk pages
* [[BW:SILLY|Silly]] pages
* Anything in the Battlestar Wiki, Quotes, Sources, Template, or User namespaces.
* If an image from the wanted article is currently the featured picture, the article is disqualified until the image is not the featured picture.

The featured article selection process is discribed below, however new FAs do not show up until after the first of the new month.

== Identifying a Potential Featured Article and Selection Process ==

Featured Articles should be identified as such, so that a master list can be created. If you think an article should be a featured article on the front page, submit it first as {{tl|featured article candidate}}.

Essentially, this would be done in the following way:
# A contributor tags an article page with {{tl|featured article candidate}}, then adds a note to the debate page explaining their reasoning. A list could also be maintained here, either manually updated or as a link to a "feature candidate" category. There can be an unlimited number of featured articles candidates at any given time.
# Involved members of the community will then discuss the candidate article. Typically, they should be as '''constructively''' critical as possible to ensure that the quality is what expected of an FA (Read above for these details.)
# If the consensus is that the article is potentially of "feature" quality, then the discussion will evolve into modifying the article in such a way as to polish the article so as to achieve full "Featured Article" status, as this is the final step before becoming a full pledged Featured article.
# After a certain amount of time and there is enough support for it to be considered 'featured', it will be tagged {{tl|featured article}} and be assigned for the next free month's FA spot. Time is roughly viewed as "is the discussion on this article ended". If discussion is still going, it will not be changed to FA status.
#* The FA CIC will have to decided if the article meets all of the criteria above with the debate that goes on. This makes getting articles FA status harder.
#* Featured article will be created and placed in the "Archive" for the current year so things happen automatically.
# Articles that do not seem to be getting any support, will be marked previous featured article candidates, and will be marked with {{tl|featured article candidate previous}} tag to indicate that they were previously nominated. This does not exlude them from becoming feature article candidates again. The debate of the article will be moved to an archive page for future reference on what needs to be fixed.

== Current FA Chief In Charge (FA CIC) ==
<strike>
Every month a Chief of the ''Battlestar Wiki'' (sysop) will be the selector of the FA to designate it as such and will be rotated at the start of each calender month to the next chief in line. These are the procedures on how this will happen to make it fair for everyone.

# This order is randomly selected using the same method of the [[BW:RAFFLE|membership raffle]] -- all chief's are put into the randomizer depending on their status.
# A chief will be taken out of the list if she/he becomes [[BW:LOA|automatic leave of absence]] or regular leave of absence and the next person in the line will take over only during their month that they are supposed to be the FA CIC. (For example, if Shane was the FA CIC for February, and he went on LOA on January, but came back before February, he would still be the FA CIC. If Shane went on LOA in February, the next person in line, Catrope, would take over for the rest of February, including his month of March.)
# If the chief comes back during their FA CIC month, they will have to wait until the next time they come up.
# Only for the current year would the chief list be generated, and their are chances that a chief might serve more than one time during the course of a year depending on the number of active chief's at the time.
# Once all the chiefs have been the '''FA CIC''', the order will be randomized again. As of this point, the randomizer is run twice because of lack of admins. If an admin comes back from LOA, they will fill up starting at the first "doubled" up sysop.

The list of the FA CIC is as follows for 2008:

* January - ''None''
* February & March - Steelviper
* April - Joe Beaudoin
* May - Gougef
* June - Peter Farago
* July - Spencerian
* August - Shane
* September - Catrope
* October - Catrope
* November - Peter Farago
* December - Shane

</strike>
}}

'''''Astral Queen''''' is a [[FTL]]-capable former starliner now given over to transporting prisoners between worlds. At the time of the [[Cylon attack]], she was carrying 1,500<ref>In the [[Miniseries]] the count was given as 500 and later retconned and increased to 1,500.</ref> male prisoners to their pardon hearings on [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] ([[TRS]]: "[[Bastille Day]]"). It was captained by [[Wilkens]] and crewed by guards such as [[Seaborne]] and [[Starke]].

Following sabotage aboard ''[[Galactica]]'', which destroys the majority of the Fleet's water reserves ([[TRS]]: "[[Water]]"), [[Lee Adama]] is sent to ''Astral Queen'' to try and enlist the aid of the prisoners to help obtain fresh water supplies from an ice-bound moon. However, once on board, he meets with the prisoners' spokesman, [[Tom Zarek]], who orchestrates a break-out and hijacking of the ship ([[TRS]]: "[[Bastille Day]]").

[[Image:Bsg-1-03.jpg|thumb|left|[[Lee Adama]] and [[Tom Zarek]] on ''Astral Queen''.]]
The situation is resolved jointly by a [[Colonial Marine Corps|Marine]] assault from ''Galactica'' and by Lee Adama, agreeing to the core of Zarek's demands: that free and fair elections are held within the [[The Fleet (TRS)|Fleet]] to appoint a new president at the end of [[Laura Roslin]]'s term - some seven months from the date of the revolt on ''Astral Queen''. In return for his surrender and the assistance of the prisoners in obtaining the much-needed water ice for the Fleet, Lee Adama leaves Zarek and his men in control of ''Astral Queen'', much to the chagrin of both President Roslin and Commander [[William Adama|Adama]] himself.

After the colonization of [[New Caprica]], ''Astral Queen'' landed on the outskirts of [[New Caprica City]] next to ''[[Colonial One]]''. Another ship of the same design is still with the Fleet in orbit of the planet before jumping away ([[TRS]]: "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]"). It would later rejoin the Fleet following the [[Battle of New Caprica]], and later traverse the [[Passage (star cluster)|star cluster]] around the [[algae planet]] ([[TRS]]: "[[Exodus, Part II]]", "[[The Passage]]"). When the Fleet jumps to the [[Ionian nebula]], ''Astral Queen'' loses power and is hit by a Cylon missile in the ensuing [[Battle of the Ionian Nebula|battle]], causing slight damage to its forward section ([[TRS]]: "[[Crossroads, Part II]]", "[[He That Believeth In Me]]").

During the [[Gaeta's Mutiny|thwarted mutiny attempt]] led by Lieutenant [[Felix Gaeta]] and Vice President [[Tom Zarek]], the ship attempted to hail ''Colonial One'' and asked for any ships if they were in contact with the ship ([[TRS]]: "[[The Oath]]").

''Astral Queen'' later becomes home to a new set of prisoners: the surviving mutineers from the thwarted mutiny attempt.<ref>Confirmed by [[Podcast:Deadlock|the podcast]] for [[Deadlock]].</ref>

Following the discovery of [[Earth (RDM)|Earth]], it was flown by [[Samuel Anders]] into [[Sol]], along with the remaining ships in the civilian fleet ([[TRS]]: "[[Daybreak, Part II]]").

== Notes ==
*The ship is equipped with at least one "flare", launched upward from some point amidships and on the dorsal section ([[TRS]]: "[[The Farm]]").
*The design and function of ''Astral Queen'' is an acknowledgment of the [[Battlestar Galactica (TOS)|Original Series]], in which an identical design of vessel was defined as the [[Prison Barge (TOS)|Prison Barge]].
*In the DVD commentary for "[[Bastille Day]]", Ronald Moore and David Eick say that in hindsight they feel that "Astral Queen" was a very poor choice of name for a prison ship, and they now wish they had used a different name.
*According to this same DVD commentary, ''Astral Queen'' is named for [[MemoryAlpha:Astral Queen|the transport]] mentioned in the original ''[[MemoryAlpha:Star Trek: The Original Series|Star Trek]]'' episode "[[MemoryAlpha:The Conscience of the King|The Conscience of the King]]".
* [[Resurrection Ship]]
* [[Cylon Civil War]]
**{{support}} My initial inclination is to go with the Civil War, since it's pretty relevant at the moment. == Criteria for a Featured Article ==

* [[Battlestar Wiki:Find or fix a stub|Stubs]]
* Talk pages
* [[BW:SILLY|Silly]] pages

<strike>

* January - ''None''
* February & March - Steelviper
* April - Joe Beaudoin
* May - Gougef
* June - Peter Farago
* July - Spencerian
* August - Shane
* September - Catrope
* October - Catrope
* November - Peter Farago
* December - Shane

</strike>
The '''Astral Queen''' is a FTL-capable former starliner now given over to transporting prisoners between worlds. At the time of the [[Cylon attack]], she was carrying 1,500 male prisoners to their pardon hearings on [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]]. It was originally captained by [[Wilkens]] and crewed by guards such as [[Seaborne]] and [[Starke]]. Wilkens is later succeeded by political activist and former prisoner [[Tom Zarek]], first via hijacking, then formalized after parley with [[Lee Adama]], in exchange for the assistance of the prisoners in obtaining much-needed water ice for the Fleet.

As you may already know, Battlestar Wiki covers all the ''Battlestar Galactica'' series from past to present, in addition to authorized merchandise. Presently, we don't cover fan fiction, but our sister-site, [[bsp:|Battlestar Pegasus]], does so. We're also not a discussion site, although we do have an ever-growing [http://www.battlestarforum.com Battlestar Forum] where people can discuss the various shows and non-BSG topics as well!

==The Fleet's Eats==

Colonial technology is sufficiently advanced to allow [[Galactica type battlestar|battlestars]] to work almost autonomously for years, but for the motley of [[The Fleet (RDM)|stranded civilian ships]] that form ''[[Galactica]]'s'' charge, the matter of food and drink for nearly 50,000 humans while migrating through interstellar space is a very serious matter.

It was through a matter of good fortune that the Fleet comprises of many ships that provide the raw materials needed for generating food products. Most of these ships were freighters that were making their routine commercial runs between Colonial ports-of-call, much like America's interstate trucking system delivers goods between cities. Some ships, such as the ''[[Kimba Huta]]'', carried actual foodstuffs such as meat. Others, such as ''Galactica'' and the ''[[Celestra (RDM)|Celestra]]'' were built for long-term spacefaring. Most of the other ships of the Fleet, like the ''[[Virgon Express]]'', were never designed for long-term flight and are missing the basics needed for extended flight. In particular, food and drink must be provided for through other means.

In "[[Water]]", Dr. [[Gaius Baltar]] notes the amount of consumables he estimates that the Fleet's citizens require each ''week'':

"The current civilian population of 45,265 will require, at minimum, 82 tons of grain, 85 tons of meat, 119 tons of fruit, 304 tons of vegetables and ... 2.5 million jps of water."

===Water===
As stated in the episode "[[Water]]", ''Galactica'' has the ability to recycle almost all of its water supply. However, it must tank off water to ships which cannot recycle as efficiently.

Dr. Baltar uses the term "JP" as a unit of liquid volume for water <ref>In the Season 3 episode "[[Dirty Hands]]", Baltar describes the culture of [[Aerilon]] as "going down to the pub for a pint", suggesting that Colonials also use the unit "pint." The term may also be intended to reflect Aerelon's culture as comparable to that of working-class [[w:Ireland|Ireland]], [[w:Scotland|Scotland]] or [[w:Northern England|Northern England]].</ref>. However, this unit of measure is not further defined. If Baltar's estimation of water units per week is divided by the population count, the result is:

2500000/45265 = 55.2303

This is the number of JPs needed at minimum per survivor per week. Dividing this number by 7 (assuming that the Colonial week has seven days as it does on Earth, given no other official reference that can be used):

55.2303/7 = 7.9 JPs per colonist per day

A minimum average of 1 gallon, or approximately 4 liters or 8 pints, is needed for a typical human. As water is also used for personal hygiene, cleaning, and shipboard functions related to cooling or heating a spacecraft per person, the unit of JPs, if approximated as pints, means that Dr. Baltar's numbers are realistic: Each Colonial requires 8 or so pints of water per day.

The matter of water consumption for ships that cannot recycle is still a question not answered in the series. ''Galactica'' is fortunate to find a planet containing water to refill its stores, and it is logical that the Fleet takes in as much water as it can reasonably carry to all ships. However, waste will still occur. The only way that the Fleet can manage to stay space-borne is to "close the loop," or recycle the water that cannot normally be recycled. When ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'' was in the Fleet, this process might have been easier if other Fleet ships are able to tank off their waste water to either of the two battlestars, then tank up with potable water as the battlestar's recycling abilities refreshed the waste water.

===Food===

Dr. Baltar uses "tons" to measure out the amount of food required per colonist.

As noted in "[[The Farm]]", the Fleet has ships that carry frozen food that was intended for export to other cities or colonies.

In the episode "[[The Passage]]" more information is given on how the Fleet feeds itself. The Colonials suffer another supply shortage. The Fleet's raw food storage has been contaminated in some way. Based on dialogue, there is a primary "good food" storage and a recycled storage where it is reprocessed for use. The episode's writer, [[Jane Espenson]], notes that, in an draft of the script, the Fleet's meat was generated from [[Wikipedia:Cloning|cloning]]<ref>"Jane Espenson on post-The Passage questions," ''[http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/12/11/jane-espenson-on-post-the-passage-questions/ TV Squad]'', weblog, December 11, 2006.</ref>.

Food is measured in energy by calories (technically, kilocalories) on the real-world Earth. ''Battlestar Galactica'' has not provided any counterpart to this unit of measure, nor is there any indication as to the type of foodstuffs generated by the Fleet's food system--that is, the "nutrition facts" for the food in carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and vitamins. For now, it is impossible to determine how effective the Fleet's food system is in keeping everyone sufficiently fed.

==== Algae ====

[[Image:Algae protein bar - watermarked.jpg|thumb|The algae protein bar.]]

After a harrowing trek through a [[Passage (star cluster)|dangerous star cluster]], the Fleet finds a [[algae planet|planet containing algae]] that can be reconstituted into food. Dr. [[Cottle]] noted that the algae, while tough to digest, was also almost pure protein. For the most part, this should satisfy the nutritional needs, as the human body can also convert most proteins into the body's fuel, carbohydrates, thanks to [[Wikipedia:Gluconeogenesis|other organs in the body]]. This same process is also what happens when your body has too little energy: in a starvation state, the body will break down its own muscle tissue into fuel.

One possible natural algae that could have been found on the algae planet is [[w:Spirulina (dietary supplement)|spirulina]], which is rich in protein.

After obtaining enough algae from the planet, the Fleet is able to turn it into various foodstuffs: algae mash, algae crackers, and algae protein bars. However, some in the Fleet, like [[Nicholas Tyrol]], are allergic to the mash and an alternate food source is alluded to ([[The Ties That Bind]]).

==The Tylium Question==

[[Tylium]] is a curious substance in the universe where the Twelve Colonies resides. Used by both Colonials and their foes, tylium has the properties of a mineral or fossil fuel in as that the substance is mined and refined. Like some fossil fuels, tylium isn't useable until refined. While the ore can't be detonated, its precursor (similar to refined crude oil before its refinement into gasoline and other products) is very explosive. The fuel itself isn't as explosive as precursor, however.

So, is tylium a made-up substance or would it have a counterpart or comparative substance to the elements we know of here on the real-world Earth?

One speculation is that tylium can possibly be similar to Helium-3 <ref name="helium3">See [[Wikipedia:Helium-3|Wikipedia's article on Helium-3]] and [http://www.asi.org/adb/02/09/he3-intro.html this article] by a private firm on the concept.</ref>. Helium-3 is a primordial component in the Earth's crust, is deposited via solar wind on moons and asteroids. But, while helium-3 has potential as an energy source, the amount of energy needed to ignite it (fusion) would be more than the energy it would expel for use as an energy by-product.

There is a problem with this speculation in that helium-3 is a gas, not a mineral or solid element. A tylium counterpart should be a solid, non-radioactive, and likely non-organic substance. Coal would fit the tylium concept were it not a fossil fuel, which would suggest that life forms existed and died on the celestial bodies where the substance is mined. Perhaps another element from the Periodic Table could be a counterpart of tylium.

Tylium could be an exotic primordial compound. Research by astronomers, spectrographic analysis among them, has found compounds which do not normally form on Earth, but are formed and stabilized within the unique conditions of space. Tylium could be one such compound, which would in part explain why the Colonial scouts were looking at asteroid belts rather then planets to find it. Tylium could be a primordial compound that is destabilized on contact with other elements, such as oxygen, that are commonly found on terrestrial worlds.

Tylium is seen as a petroleum-like fuel and as refined ore in the episode "[[Dirty Hands]]".

==Familiar Elements and Chemicals==

[[w:Plutonium|Plutonium]] is a man-made element used primarily in the cores of nuclear weapons<ref>The existence of this synthetic element means that the natural element it is derived from, [[w:Uranium|uranium]], exists in the world of the Re-imagined Series. (Etymological purists on the [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies#The Lords of Kobol|origins of the names of the Lords of Kobol]] may be annoyed that the Greek pantheon parallelism to the Lords of Kobol is disturbed again, for plutonium is named for Pluto, the Roman counterpart of the Greek god [[Wikipedia:Hades|Hades]]).</ref>. [[Gaius Baltar]] asks for the plutonium from one of the ship's nuclear warheads from Commander Adama to build his [[Cylon detector]] ([[Bastille Day]]). Baltar also mentions the use of [[tetrahydrocycline]] for the detector ([[Water]]).

The [[Red Moon]]'s atmosphere is composed mostly of carbon dioxide, methane and argon ([[You Can't Go Home Again]]). Oxygen is mentioned several times throughout the series.

Chief Tyrol asks for copper tubing when some his deckhands fail to build a proper distiller ([[Litmus]]).

On ''Galactica'', perishable goods are kept in [[w:titanium|titanium]] lockers ([[Final Cut]]).

[[w:Chromium|Chromium]] is known to the Colonials by this name, since "chrome job" is a slang term for [[Cylon Centurion]]s ([[Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance]]).

==Drugs==

[[Doloxan]] is used in chemotherapy for cancer patients. [[Laura Roslin]] chooses to take [[chamalla]] extract instead, which does little for her cancer, but grants her [[Arrow of Apollo|remarkable side-effects]].

Other drugs such as [[morpha]], [[stims]], and [[serisone]] have a logical counterpart to real-world drugs such as morphine, stimulants such as amphetamines, or fluid-reduction treatments.

An [[Interrogation drug|unnamed drug]] is administered to Gaius Baltar in order to provoke an intense state of hallucinatory anxiety. This drug had been the property of the Colonial military prior to the fall of the Twelve Colonies ([[Taking A Break From All Your Worries]]).
All [[Colonial Fleet (RDM)|Colonial Fleet]] personnel wear hexagonal '''"dog tags"''' around their necks.

These identification tags bear the name and serial number of the servicemember.

In the event of a servicemember's death, the tags on his or her body aid in identification, particularly if the remains are difficult or impossible to identify otherwise. The tags are taken from the body if recovery is not immediate or likely, as Chief [[Galen Tyrol]] does for [[Tarn]], [[Socinus]] and [[Alex Quartararo|Alex "Crashdown" Quartararo]] on [[Kobol (RDM)|Kobol]] ([[TRS]]: "[[Valley of Darkness]]", "[[Fragged]]").

Captain [[Aaron Kelly|Kelly]] is the somber recipient of nearly 85 tags from dead ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' crewmen trapped in the port [[flight pod]] after it was vented to space by order of Colonel [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]] to prevent a catastrophic ship explosion ([[TRS]]: "[[Miniseries]]").

When [[Kara Thrace]] leaves [[Samuel Anders]] on Caprica to return to ''Galactica'', she gives him her tags as a promise of her return ([[TRS]]: "[[The Farm]]"), which she receives after their reunion ([[TRS]]: "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I]]").
* In "[[Exodus, Part I]]", [[Samuel Anders]] refers to [[Sharon Agathon]]'s ID tags as "dog tags", establishing this modern military slang term in the BSG universe.
* Real-world practice is to take one tag for casualty registration and to leave the other with the remains for later recovery and identification. In some instances, personnel opt to wear two sets of tags in case of dismemberment.

'''Cylon psychology''' is mostly left to viewers to interpret, being a mystery that generates conflict among characters and with which Battlestar Galactica's creators tease and engage viewers throughout the four-season saga.

[[Cylon Centurion|Centurions]] appear soldierly and machine-like in Galactica, but Galactica leaves open how unfeeling and inhuman they truly are. Near the end of the saga, it is revealed that the Centurions reason and have free will, but that [[Cavil]] has switched these off. After dissenting models switch them back on, however, we see the Centurions almost exclusively either in battle or at attention. Based on their group decision to strike out on their own once liberated, from what individual Centurions seem to display through body language in one or two scenes, and from what the "skin-jobs" say about them, Centurions may assess their relationships with others as unfair and will act to change them on that account. Whether as per formula or human-like resentment is not clear. Their rigid faces are unintelligible and unchanging to human eyes, and they do not speak, making them essentially impossible to read.

The [[Humanoid Cylon|humanoid models 1-8]], built with the know-how and assistance of the [[Final Five]], appear and behave human, even to the extent that they may feel experience life at times as humans do. Paradoxically, they also display a superhuman or inhuman capacity to display any feeling helpful toward deception and in service of atrocities.

Though they are [[resurrection]]-ready and therefor immortal, they have never been children or matured within a human social environment. Most have had no human social experience whatsoever. Even [[Caprica-Six]] and Eight [[Sharon Valerii]], regarded with awe by others, experienced only a few years of life among humans at the most. The Cylons seem to lack even a theory for why humans do or feel as they do--not as the saga begins, at least. Their "[[The Plan|Plan]]" for dealing with the fleeing unexpected survivors of their extermination attempt switches from one tack to the next. They base choices on what "Caprica" and Sharon Valerii have managed to learn, and that's not much, judging from the failure of [[New Caprica]].

Yet these two appear to have been affected even by their brief experience, such that they feel the pull of desires and emotions they did not have before and arguably become addicted to them. The psychology of the [[Number Six|Sixes]] and [[Number Eight|Eights]] at least is not entirely pre-fab or stable out of the box, in that they seem predisposed to life in human society, but born unwise to it, like pre-pubescent teens. Whether other models would opt for a human-like life, given sufficient experience of it, is less clear.

The [[Number One|Ones]] do seem to come from the box ill-equipped and dead-set against it, but then humans can be like that too, most often as infants. Conceivably Ones could adapt to living as a human, were they obliged to do so, as children always are. But being born with seniority, authority and no strong commitment to democracy, the circumstance does not arise.

The [[Final Five]] do not remember the lives from which they resurrected themselves two thousand years before, but they were born and raised from childhood in a society like humans. They are diverse, each an entirely human-seeming individual. Of course, they are not human, it seems reasonable to suppose that more or less they are.

'''Cylon psychology''' is mostly left to viewers to interpret, being a mystery that generates conflict among characters and with which Battlestar Galactica's creators tease and engage viewers throughout the four-season saga.

[[Centurions (RDM)|Centurions]] appear soldierly and machine-like in Galactica, but Galactica leaves open how unfeeling and inhuman they truly are.

A '''Combat Air Patrol''', or "CAP", is a part of a [[battlestar]]'s early response and [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] defense posture.

CAPs typically consist of two [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]]s (lead and wingman) flying a designated pattern in and around the Fleet, providing an immediate spaceborne response to incoming threats. More than one CAP may be flown at a time, with Vipers positioned at different distances and "orbits" around the Fleet. CAP flights can be reinforced by a battlestar's [[Alert Fighters|alert fighters]] ([[TRS]]: "[[33]]").

CAPs sometimes include [[Raptor]]s in a support role.

Despite the 40 Vipers at her disposal, Kara Thrace finds mounting full CAPs difficult in the episode "[[Sine Qua Non]]". It may be that on high alert ''Galactica'' mounts multiple simultaneous CAPS, along with the 2 Vipers sometimes seen on screen escorting ''Colonial One''. Flying continuous CAP shifts with alert fighters on standby could explain this strain on pilots and planes.

Later in the series, it becomes even more difficult to keep up a full CAP. Casualties, the mutiny, and a rebel Cylon baseship joing the Fleet result in a joint CAP being flown including both Colonial Vipers and Cylon [[Heavy Raider]]s ([[TRS]]: "[[Someone to Watch Over Me]]").
== Notes ==
*On Earth, the term "[[Wikipedia:Combat Air Patrol|combat air patrol]]" is most frequently applied to fighter aircraft patrols guarding a [[Wikipedia:Carrier battle group|carrier battle group]]; however, it applies equally to flights guarding a fixed land target, other vessels at sea, and (least commonly) slower, more vulnerable aircraft. Series information notes the existence of [[Battlestar Group|battlestar groups]], which are analogous to carrier battle groups, so the use of CAPs in the series likely a parallel to real CAPs.
*There are two other, less common, standard names for types of air patrols which may have parallels in the series:
**'''BARCAP''' or BARrier Combat Air Patrol: a patrol flown between the guarded and the likely origin of an attack
**'''TARCAP''' or TARget Combat Air Patrol: a patrol flown near a target to protect the attack aircraft from air-to-air attacks
