YeNguyen is obessesed with the new Battlestar Galactica and with good reason! Aside from the space porn we get every now and then, I love that it's a character-driven drama that knows how to keep a story and its players interesting. Urr, aside from a lot of Season 3, but that was the network meddling.

Battlestar was pretty much a gateway show for me, increasing my interest in well-written drama on the big and small screen. I've found a huge interest in all things movie and TV and I've put energy into acting, writing and directing, all thanks to BSG's influence. Whee!
::::Anders: Longshot, I got uh (he is either identifying himself, or winces because he realizes he just called Seelix by his own callsign and/or has trouble assembling proper fighter shorthand) ... Tally (I see your target)! I've got your back.
Thrace's claims discussion
Alpha Centauri's triple star system contains 1 star, Proxima Centauri, which is a 'flare star', capable of changing its luminosity in seconds (more akin to the flashing behaviour described by Starbuck). Another interesting factor is that the name of the constellation, Centaurus, refers to the half-man, half-horse mythological figure, which is also the figure represented by Saggitarus (the statue on the tomb of Athena on which the Arrow of Apollo was placed to reveal the path to Earth).
Although the triple stars of Alpha Centauri cannot be seen from Earth neither it is possible to see the rings of the outer solar system's planets. What seems more likely is that Starbuck saw both the rings and the triple star on her way back to the Ionian Nebula.
Mark Verheiden reports on his blog that David Weddle and Bradley Thompson are writing this episode. I've updated the article accordingly. Also, he reports that officially the production numbers for Razor are 401 and 402, and Season 4, Episode 1 is going to be 403. --Freevo 10:51, 18 August 2007 (CDT)
:I don't think writers need to be cited, though we can add a footnote if anyone feels the need. Production numbers can be very confusing. --Serenity 10:52, 18 August 2007 (CDT)
::Currently, 400 and 4.00 redirect to Razor, and 401 and 4.01 redirect to He That Believeth In Me, a system that I think is more logical than the production numbers. --Catrope(Talk to me or e-mail me) 12:33, 18 August 2007 (CDT)
Apollo: I don't know, but whatever it is, it's bearing on Galactica. We gotta take it out.
Hotdog: Apollo, Hotdog defensive. Three right, five at two.
Apollo: Tally, Hotdog. Kat, on me.

Now that we know that "tally' is part of the acknowledged jargon of Battlestar, I don't think they would give any pilot that callsign. -- Yenguyen 11:05, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Yenguyen: /* Analysis */

Overview
Galactica is besieged, first internally by Cylon computer viruses, then externally by a large imminent Cylon attack force. Faced with a Viper shortage, Tyrol tackles the difficult task of building them from scratch. Meanwhile, Helo is dealing with the repercussions of his relationship with Sharon Valerii, a known Humano-Cylon.

Summary
* Laura Roslin's illness has reached a critical level. While she is still well enough to walk, Dr. Cottle gives her approximately one month to live.
* Helo has become persona non grata to many of the crew who distrust him due to his romance with the Caprica copy of Humano-Cylon Sharon Valerii.
* Many of the crew, even the generally level-headed and reliable Lieutenant Gaeta, are showing the strain of the apparent futility and fatigue of running from the Cylons.
* Chief Tyrol, with also little else to do with scrapped Vipers, begins a project to craft a new fighter. Initially many crew are very skeptical, but soon many others help Tyrol.
* Helo suggests carbon composite material for the skin in lieu of the rare plate metal for the fighter. Like the American F/A-22 Raptor Air-Dominance Fighter, Tyrol's new ship is nearly invisible to DRADIS.
* A Cylon Logic Bomb has attacked ship's systems and will fully control Galactica once an expected Cylon force arrives to activate it by infiltration. Gaeta and Baltar work together to figure a way to rid the ship of it by erasing the hard drives of all computers. Doing this, however, would leave the ship a sitting duck for an attack while time is needed to restore function and data to the computers.
* Adama, after asking the advice of the President, allows the Caprica Valerii to connect herself to the ship's mainframe and communication systems while Gaeta and Baltar erase the hard drives of all computers.
* A Cylon fighter armada consisting of hundreds of Raiders and Heavy Raiders attempts to activate the bomb. However, Valerii responds by transmitting a version of the same bomb to the Cylon fleet, disabling it as the Cylons did the Colonial fleet during the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. The Viper squadrons annihilate the helpless Cylon fleet in a joyous moment of payback.
* Kara Thrace takes the new fighter, dubbed the Blackbird, for a initially ungainly test spin. This fighter was designed for speed, and delivers it. Wingman Lee Adama is horrified when the Blackbird disappears, but Kara rises above to face his ship quietly, proving the new fighter's stealth ability.
* In a ceremony similar to the one given to Commander Adama in the Mini-Series, President Roslin inspects and christens the new fighter. Many sign the ship. Tyrol reveals the name of this first fighter: Laura.
* The mere work on the new fighter renewed the creativity and hope of the crew--a reason why Adama allowed its construction to continue, despite the logic bomb crisis.

Questions
* This episode was rare in that Baltar's Number Six was completely absent in this episode, despite the Cylon-rich plot. What would she had to say about Valerii's aid or the logic bomb?

Analysis
* While Humano-Cylons appear human to the cellular level, Sharon could control a fiber-optic connection inserted into her forearm. This suggests that the humanoid Cylon design uses light-sensitive cells disguised as regular cells in their forearms as data access nodes, probably involving the cells interacting with her Silica Relays in her brain, the last vestiges of the humanoid Cylons' mechanical nature. Based on Valerii's extreme discomfort in having to cut herself to insert the data line to be connected this way, it could be presumed that this is not a typical practice for Humano-Cylons.
* Continuing from "Resistance", Dualla is shown being attracted to Apollo.
* Tyrol's comment to Lee Adama on the lack of miracles, and his answer to the problem, may remind some of another great miracle worker in science fiction.
* Despite Valerii's belief that she has become a "liability" to the Cylons, the previous episode made it clear that they considered the survival of her baby a paramount concern. The virus, installed before her arrival, was probably oblivious to this, but the massive fleet the Cylons deployed to interdict Galactica could not have been. Whatever the Cylon's mysterious plan may be, it is utterly beyond credibility that they would make such a massive material sacrifice without achieving any clear objective. We must therefore conclude three things:
*#The Cylon fleet did not intend the death of Valerii in this episode, and thus probably not the destruction of Galactica either.
*#The Cylons either failed to communicate this to Valerii, or she failed to take heed.
*#The Cylons did not anticipate the destruction of their fleet at Valerii's hands.

Notes
* Population count is 47,853. This is the first time this season that there has been no net change in the count from the previous episode (Final Cut).
* Literary/Film Reference: Flight of the Phoenix is the title of a 1964 novel where survivors from a plane crash in the middle of a desert attempt to rebuild the plane from the wreckage. Two movies, one made in 1965 and the other in 2004, were also made following a similar story line inspired by the book.
* The phoenix is a character from Egypt mythology where, at the end of its lifespan, the bird turns to ash -- only to have another phoenix arise.
* The name of new fighter, Blackbird, is also shared with the worlds's fastest supersonic aircraft, the American SR-71, which also has some stealth ability (though the Aurora is supposedly faster).
*There is a wide shot when apparently all of Galactica's Vipers are deployed where it's possible to count how many they have. Oddly, the current count says that there should be no more than 35, but there are 42 Vipers visible on screen.
**There are at least 7 Viper Mk. VII's visible in this shot.
*The first episode without an appearance by Number Six.

Noteworthy Dialogue
*<b>Apollo:</b> Nobody's expecting a miracle.
*<b>Tyrol:</b> Maybe that's the problem.
English, or some language that is universally translated into it (à la Tolkien) is standard. Loanwords from foreign languages ("fascist", "karma", etc.) occur with normal frequency, as do chronologically enigmatic borrowings such as the Battlestar Columbia.
In contrast to its predecessor, the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica employs relatively little in the way of ersatz vocabulary. It does employ a few terms outside of a normal american english vocabulary, mostly military jargon.
Spanish Accent
A woman rescued from Caprica by Sharon Valerii spoke with a spanish or portugese accent, and inquired after the whereabouts of her husband, who she stated was "stationed on Geminon". Her place of origin is unclear, but no other characters from either Caprica, Gemenon, or anywhere else have shared this accent.

Aerelon Accent
In the episode "Flesh and Bone", Baltar noted that Sharon Valerii spoke with a trace of an Aerelon accent. The actress who portrays her, Grace Park, speaks English with a standard american accent, but is also fluent in Korean.

Yenguyen: /* Season 2 */

<b>Meaning:</b> Prison; detention centre.

Brig is a US military term with one of two uses:

# A jail or prison on board a U.S. Navy or Coast Guard vessel.
# A jail or guardhouse, especially on the premises of a U.S. military installation.

The Galactica seems to have two brigs. One with at least two small cells with bunks. There is also another brig with one larger cell with no commodities for high-security prisoners. In the episodes in which the brigs has made an appearance, there is usually always a Marine guard standing watch inside the room. In the high-sec brig, there are usually around four.

After Galactica-Boomer was revealed as a Cylon, Colonel Tigh ordered a third custom-made super-reinforced brig to be constructed. It was built for the specific purpose of containing captured Humano-Cylons, who possess far greater than human strength, for an extended period (Resistance). The new brig was constructed with maximum security in mind; instead of having simple bars, it's walls consist of many metal grid screens welded tightly together, and reinforced by plexiglass (a telephone is used to communicate between one the inside and outside of the cell). After being brought to the Galactica, Caparica-Boomer was detained within the new Cylon-brig cell, presumably for an indefinate period. Number Six claims that Sharon's hybrid daughter will be born in this cell (Home, Part II).

Notable chracters who have spent time in the brig are:
Season 1
*Starbuck -- Striking a superior officer in the Mini-series
*Aaron Doral -- Under suspiscion for being a Cylon agent in the Mini-series
*Specialist Socinus -- Lying under oath and leaving a post in Litmus and is released in a deleted scene in Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I
*Gaius Baltar -- Act of treason by collaborating with the Cylons in Six Degrees of Separation
*President Laura Roslin -- consequence of a successful coup d'etat led by Commander Adama in Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II
*Apollo -- mutiny in Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II and appearing in Scattered. He is able to be let out of the brig when on duty.

Season 2
*Boomer -- shooting a superior officer twice in Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II and appearing in Scattered
*Chief Tyrol -- under suspicion of conspiring with the Cylon Boomer in Resistance
*Cally -- for discharging a firearm without permission in a crowded corridor in Resistance and appearing in The Farm
*Caprica-Sharon -- Permantly detained (for being a Cylon) in the new custom-built Cylon holding cell in Home, Part II.
Colonial Mythology
Zeus is the first Lord of Kobol (Bastille Day), from whom all other Lords apparently sprung. He is father to Apollo (33,The Hand of God) and, quite likely, to Athena as well. (The Hand of God).

Zeus mirrors the Olympian Pantheon from Earth.

Tom Zarek plays on Lee Adama's callsign Apollo in Bastille Day by referring to Commander Adama as "Zeus." The allusion was repeated again by Tom Zarek in The Farm.

Greek Mythology
Zeus Kroniōn (descendant of Cronus), or simply Zeús or Zdeús (Greek Ζεύς) or Dias (Greek Δίας) ("divine king") is the leader of the gods and god of the sky and thunder in Greek mythology. Typically symbolized as a bearded able-bodied man who can strike down people with lighting bolts he hurls. As demonstrated in the Greek Mythos (and mirrored in Colonial religion), he fathered many of the heroes and heroines (see the external links section) and was featured in many of their stories. Though he was the god of the sky and thunder, he was also the most supreme cultural artifact; in some senses, he was the embodiment of Greek religious beliefs and the archetypal Greek deity.

The various titles applied to Zeus emphasized different aspects of his wide-ranging authority:

* Olympios emphasized Zeus's kingship over both the gods and the Panhellenic festival at Olympia.
* A related title was Panhellenios, ('Zeus of all the Hellenes') to whom Aeacus' famous temple on Aegina was dedicated.
* As Xenios, Zeus was the patron of hospitality and guests, ready to avenge any wrong done to a stranger.
* As Horkios, he was the keeper of oaths. Liars who were exposed were made to dedicate a statue to Zeus, often at the sanctuary of Olympia.
* As Agoraios, Zeus watched over business at the agora, and punished dishonest traders.

The Mining Ship is a Tauron-registered ship that was designed to extract raw metals and minerals. In the fleet, it served a vital role in mining tylium ore, which is a highly-efficient fuel for all ships once the mineral is refined.

Mining ships are very hot, dirty, cramped vessels that are not suitable as a refuge for passengers.

Mining ships have a very limited refining ability. Because of this, mining ships work in concert with a Refinery Ship, which handle the bulk of the mineral processing.

Overview
: <i>Cylon Centurions board the Galactica and wreak havoc, and Lee leads a team of Marines to try and stop them.</i>

Summary
On Galactica
* After jumping successfully to the Fleet's location, the Galacticas power systems shut down.
* After landing on Galactica, Lee Adama, Kat, Hot Dog, and Flyboy are walking through the corridors with flashlights. Flyboy stumbles into a Cylon Centurion -- the Cylon kills him and the rest attempt to flee.
* As Hot Dog and Kat flee up the stair way, Lee attempts to kill the Cylon. A small group of marines come from behind the Cylon, using an explosive round that is able to take it out. Unfortunately, it was their last one, they'll have to get more as it is the only round that works against the centurions.
* Lee's group goes to the storage locker on deck 12. They find Jammer (a member of Tyrol's repair crew) and, unfortunately, only six explosive rounds.
* Gaeta states that the Cylon virus has infected some of the ship's isolated computers when they were networked; he has teams cleaning them out.
* Tigh gets reports that some of the Cylons have been taken out by teams throught the ship. He suspects that the Cylons are heading towards two sections of the ship -- one of which is aft damage control -- in order to vent the ship. (After the ship is vented and the crew terminated, Tigh states that the Cylons would turn Galactica's guns on the Fleet.)
* Lee gets into contact with CIC via a portable phone. Tigh orders him to go to the aft damqage control section to stop the Cylons from overriding the safeguards that prevent the ship from being vented.
* Lee, Jammer, Kat, and two marines station themselves near the aft damage control console. As they ready the defense against the advancing Cylons, Roslin, Billy, Dee and Corporal Venner hide in a passageway to avoid being discovered. The Cylons run down a hallway towards aft damage control, but are distracted when Billy accidentally fires off a round while running away. This gives Lee enough time to destroy the Cylon attackers.
*Having successfully destroyed the Cylons, Doctor Cottle is requested to be brought to the Galactica. In the sickbay, Roslin assures Apollo that Adama will be fine, and she is taken back to the brig. Tigh tells Lee that he is still shocked that he would side with the President instead of his own father, and that he is unfit to wear a Colonial uniform. Lee tells Tigh that when Adama wakes up, he will decide what to do with both of them.

On Caprica
*Helo and Starbuck discuss how the Cylons have a habit of fooling everyone.
*Starbuck leads them to her old house, where she reminisces about how she hated it and how she keeps fighting because it's the only thing she knows.
*They later leave driving Starbuck's old army truck.

On Kobol
*Baltar has a dream where Adama drowns Baltar's daughter.
*When he wakes up, he is in Number Six's arms, surrounded by human skulls and bones. Six tells Baltar that they were victims of human sacrifice, and that the Scriptures were lies, fabricated to cover up how barbaric life on Kobol really was.
*When he returns to the others, Baltar is harangued by Crashdown.
*Tyrol is feeling responsible for Tarn's death, but Cally snaps him out of it.
*The two return with the medkits, but it is too late to save Socinus' life. Telling him that he is going home, Tyrol reluctantly kills him with an overdose of morpha.

Questions
*The remains Baltar and Six find cannot be thousands of years old; they would not have survived in the open. Did the Thirteenth Colony leave Kobol recently? Do humans, at least until recently, still inhabit Kobol? Or were all the remains merely fabricated by Six?
*Why would later humans have felt it necessary to cover up the nature of civilization on Kobol? Is it related to the reason why Kobol was abandoned in the first place? How would the Cylons have found out? Or did Six just make it up?
*How did Tigh know where the Centurions were heading? Did the Cylons use this tactic in the first war?
** Note: It is stated in the series bible that during Tigh's enlistment in the first Cylon War, his ship was boarded -- it is likely that he learned of these tactics during this conflict. (see: Saul Tigh)
*Is Helo starting to fall for Starbuck?
*How did Starbuck end up with a military truck?
*While pointing out different parts of the ship where Centurions were destroyed, it's mentioned that Sgt. Hadrian was leading a group of Marines that managed to destroy several Cylons. However, at the end of "Litmus" Adama had her confined to quarters. Did Adama eventually release her before this episode? Did the Marines release her now because they needed every experienced Marine they could find?
*Why does Dee tell Billy they haven't met in person "in two weeks" when they were last seen dancing together on Colonial Day, two days ago at the most? (Kobol's Last Gleaming starts the night after Colonial Day, if Starbuck's wearing the same dress at the beginning)
**Presuming they take place concurrently, the captions for the scenes on Cylon-occupied Caprica indicate that Part I takes place three days after Colonial Day and Part II the day after that. Scattered and this episode almost certainly take place on the same day as Part II, however, so it has still been at most four days since they saw each other.

Analysis
Notes
*The fleet population cited in the opening credits is 47,874. This is one less than the previous episode—prior to the opening credits, a Cylon is seen killing a Galactica crew member.
*First episode without an appearance by Sharon Valerii (except in opening montage).
*Helo reveals to Starbuck that the Cylons recovered the bodies and brought them to cremation centers, hence the lack of bodies.
*Socinus, initially slated to die in early drafts of "Scattered", dies in this episode -- euthanised by Tyrol.
*Colonials used internal combustion engines (Starbuck's Humvee). Assuming that it was the Colonists that brought organic life along with them to the Homeworlds (terraforming) (as Kobol's wildlife (birds and trees and such) is identical to Caprica's, this is likely the case), it probably does not burn fossil fuels, though, since the Kobol's refugees arrived on the Colonies only thousands of years rather than the millions of years it takes for fossil fuels to form. However, Kobol's life forms could also simply have replaced or supplemented less evolved or less strong life forms on the colonial planets, as happened several times on Earth where non-ingenious life forms can wreck havoc on a local ecosystem; or the local life forms may have died out through a catastrophic event. Both scenarios leave enough time for original life forms to be turned into fossile fuels.
* Kate Vernon is listed as a guest star in the opening credits, even though her character, Ellen Tigh, never makes an appearance in this episode.
* The music which we hear in Kara Thrace's apartment and again during the closing act of the episode is Metamorphosis One, composed by Philip Glass. It is from Glass's 1989 album Solo Piano.

Noteworthy Dialogue
* On the surface of Kobol, Chief Tyrol and Cally are on their way to rendezvous with the rest of the Raptor crash survivors:
:<b>Cally:</b> (exhausted from walking) What do you say we take five?
:(Chief Tyrol is still in a state of shock [having lost Tarn to a surprise attack by the Cylons in the last episode] and leans against a tree)
:<b>Cally:</b> How much further, do you think?
:(Chief Tyrol ignores her)
:<b>Cally:</b> Tarn getting shot...it wasn't your fault, right Chief?
:(Chief Tyrol is silent)
:<b>Cally:</b> Talk to me, you motherfracker!
:(Chief Tyrol turns around and looks at her strangely)
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> (laughing) Motherfracker?
:<b>Cally:</b> Socinus better appreciate this.
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> He's probably lying in the sun, staring up at the birds like some Gods' damned emperor. He's an idiot.
:<b>Cally:</b> I hope he's okay...

* In her apartment on Caprica, Starbuck and Helo have stopped to take a rest:
:<b>Kara Thrace:</b> (sitting on her couch) You know, I never really liked this place anyway. The air conditioning doesn't work in the summer, the heater doesn't work in the winter, the rent's a crime...(lights a cigarette)...after they attacked, I never pined over any of my old crap. Never missed it. Stupid VO's in the parking lot, broken toilet in the bathroom...you know, everyone I know is fighting to get back what they had. I'm fighting because I don't know how to do anything else.

* Chief Tyrol and Cally have rejoined the others on Kobol, and they find out that Socinus isn't going to survive much longer:
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> How's he doing?
:<b>Selix:</b> He's not going to make it.
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> What? What do you mean? What are you talking about? We got the medkit! Give him a shot! Give him another shot!
:<b>Selix:</b> It's too late.
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> What do you mean, it's too late? I got you the medkit! What else do you want? (looking stunned) So we...got the medicine you asked for...Tarn...and for what? For this? Come on! You have to do something. You have to do something!
:<b>Selix:</b> We can't change that he's going to die, Chief. It's going to be slow and painful, and we can spare him that if we give him the morpha from my kit and the one that you brought back.
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> What? No. (looks at Crashdown) LT..LT, come on!
:<b>Crashdown:</b> He's your man, Chief.
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> Give it to me. (takes morpha from Selix and leans down beside Socinus) Hey buddy. It's the Chief. How you doing?
:<b>Socinus:</b> (wheezing) What's going on?
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> Oh, you know...listening to the birds. I got you a little something for the pain. (injects morpha into Socinus) Good news, buddy. The recovery party's here. Raptors just landed. We're going to put you on one and take you back to Galactica, okay?
:<b>Socinus:</b> We're going home?
:<b>Chief Tyrol:</b> Yeah...(tears welling in his eyes)...we're going home.
:(Socinus passes away)

* In the Galactica's sickbay:
:<b>Colonel Tigh:</b> I can't believe you sided with that woman against the old man. I wouldn't do that if you put a gun to my head...and you did! As far as I'm concerned, you're not fit to wear a uniform.
:<b>Lee Adama:</b> Huh. You're right about that part. I am not fit to wear the uniform...and maybe I never was. Then again, neither are you. But this isn't my ship, and it sure as hell isn't yours. (motions at Commander Adama) It's his, and when he wakes up, he'll decide what to do with the both of us. * "We've almost completed shooting the opening of Season Two, with Michael Rymer back at the helm filming a two-parter written by David Weddle & Bradley Thompson called 'Scattered' and 'Valley of Darkness.' Things have been going well so far, with a good mood on the set and a feeling of satisfaction and pride running through the whole team at their accomplishments in year one and anticipation for year two." --

* "Apollo's betrayal of Adama's decision to arrest the president is detracting from the believability of the show for me. I'm listining to your podcast of ep. 113 as I write this and you just said Lee is "a more capable, more competent, leader . . .". He's also struck me as a fairly honorable character. If he had doubts about this mission I think he would have at least voiced them and then not gone along with the strike team so he would not have been put in the position he was. I hope you won't use Adama's near death experience at the end of season one/start of season two to "write off" these betrayals, esp. Apollo's. His was much more unforgivable considering his relationship with Adama, his leadership role in the fleet, and the battle between the president and Adama. I find it hard to see Lee continuing as CAG after this. "

: You bring up valid points and we are planning to play out the consequences of Lee's decision as it impacts both him and his father over the course of the season. --
Kobol Questions
Regarding the relativly recent skulls found on Kobol, perhaps there are humans or humano-cylons living there, after the exodous. While Tyrol said that they were attacked by Cylons has there been any visual proof of that? There is also the possiblity it was an automated defense system since Tyrol and Cali were not pursued and it appears that the bullets were all hitting the same general area w/o much movenment. -- Danno Ferrin 10:19 MST, 23 July 2003

: I believe that they are Cylons; we just didn't see them. Of course, they probably wouldn't full out attack given that Baltar is with them -- it wouldn't be in the best interest of the Cylon's plan to massacre the whole party but leave Baltar alive. -- Joe Beaudoin 10:25, 24 Jul 2005 (EDT)

Is that the same Centurion model?
I'm not sure the Centurions that boarded the Galactica were the same model we've seen before. It was dark, but I think their color may have been gold instead of silver, and they were much harder to kill -- Helo took down at least one with his pilot's sidearm, but Apollo's had no effect. Could they have been special shock troops? -- JohnReese

: Are you referring to 33, where Helo dispatched two Centurions with a claymore? If so, Helo only took the surviving Centurion down after the claymore ripped its body in half... -- Joe Beaudoin 10:24, 24 Jul 2005 (EDT)

: No, I think he's referring to the one Helo got twice in You Can't Go Home Again and the one that he shot once in Litmus. I doubt he was using explosive rounds but they did make huge holes in the Centurions anyway. You have to realize that Apollo's sidearm is a different build, and the sidearm Helo has may be able to take armor-piercing rounds or something. That's what I'm guessing. -- YeNguyen 12:39, 24 Jul 2005 (EST)

: Another possibility is that the Cylons on Caprica don't want to kill him, but only mean to make him feel like he is in mortal danger, so he becomes more emotionally reliant on Sharon in order to survive. I however think it is more likely that the ammunition he is carrying is explosive. You see him in the Mini-Series shoot the guy attempting to jump on the Raptor as Sharon is taking off, and the impact exploded with guts flying out. RDM even talked about the explosive handgun during the DVD commentary as an idea he got from Bladerunner. OTOH if those were the same explosive rounds in Sharon's gun when she shot Adama... --Laven 04:20, 25 Jul 2005 (EDT)

It was one of three Raptors sent to survey the planet believed to be Kobol.
Incident
After entering Kobol's orbit, a phalanx of Cylon Raiders happened upon them suddenly. One raptor was destroyed in orbit via collision with a Raider, another left via FTL to Galactica, and Raptor 1 was damaged as a result of the fracas. Crashdown managed to crashland near an overgrown field, near ruins presumed to be from humanity pre-Colonization.
: When using potential spoiler information, the information on the wiki is only accurate as the reports that our contributors receive and review. As for Socinus, perhaps in a prior draft, he was going to die; things change from conception to shooting, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit. (Remember, Boomer wasn't revealed to be a Cylon in previous scripts of the mini-series.)
