In the [[Season 3]] ''Battlestar Galactica'' episode entitled [[The Woman King]], Davison plays [[Dr. Robert]], a civilian Physician. He is accused by a bereaved mother, [[King|Mrs. King]], of providing substandard medical care, which possibly resulted in the untimely death of her son.
#If this is in the same continuity as the re-imagined series, we won't need a separate namespace for it. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 01:51, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
::On the first, it looks it, but, like most people, I'm more inclined to believe things I like.
::I almost posted the second on Quorum, but I decided it was a conclusion we'd all come to anyway. I'm glad I was at least partially right. --[[User:CalculatinAvatar|CalculatinAvatar]] 01:56, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:::Actually, thinking it through some more, it might be handy to have a namespace for a new series - particularly for projects like the screencap categorization. I'll have to think on how they should coexist. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 02:00, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
::::Just for clarity, you cannot mean an actual namespace like Battlestar Wiki, Podcast, or Sources, since RDM and TOS use the same one. Assuming you mean something like the use of "RDM" as a parenthetical disambiguation term, I disagree. It should never be necessary to disambiguate between RDM and Caprica if they share a continuity. In fact, I think TOS/Caprica name conflicts should be resolved with RDM, as Ronald D. Moore is the creative force behind Caprica, too; it would also avoid a problem if something is mentioned first in Cparica, then in RDM.
::::I think a category would be sufficient for screen capture organization. (It's clearly necessary, anyway.) --[[User:CalculatinAvatar|CalculatinAvatar]] 02:09, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:::::Yes, I meant the parenthetical suffix. What we have now is, for example, "Screen Captures (TOS)", "Screen Captures (1980)" and "Screen Captures (RDM)". The reason (1980) and (TOS) are separate is that there are numerous other continuities that branch off of TOS and don't include 1980, a concern that wouldn't be relevant for RDM and "Caprica". However, wouldn't we want a category such as "Screen Captures (Caprica)" that would be distinct from "Screen Captures (RDM)"? That's why a parenthetical designation separate from "RDM" might be useful. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 02:13, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
::::::That's the category I meant. Category:CAP should probably just be [[:Category:RDM]], barring a desire to keep track of things mentioned in the re-imagined series only or Caprica only. Category:Episode Guide (CAP) would suffice for episode pages, which would also be in Category:RDM to indicate continuity, not series. --[[User:CalculatinAvatar|CalculatinAvatar]] 02:20, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:::::::I think this is horribly confusing. The best thing would be to have separate abbreviations for the current series and the RDM universe as a whole, but I don't exactly feel like going through the entire wiki, moving articles, categories and links. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 02:23, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
Not only is it real, when I saw the first rumor I immediately took it to the "Talk to Mrs.Ron" thread, and asked. She asked Ron, who within 30 minutes responded that yes, he had already publicly pitched it to ScifiChannel and the news sites weren't making it up and it wasn't a rumor. Talk about fan-base connection! Secondly Peter, we do need a template if only for the episodes: I mean Next Generation and Deep Space Nine are in the same continuity, share several characters and even have crossover episodes, but we still use "TNG" and "DS9" stuff to sort the two out. I mean one day they might have a "Caprica" episode called "Resistance". So we have RDM "Resistance" and CAP "Resistance". It's just a convention to use for episode naming really. I mean when Galactica shows up in "Caprica" it'll be the same ship, and we'll still call it "Galactica (RDM)", yes, but "CAP" would be mostly an episode thing. --[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 02:02, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:I sincerely hope they never give an episode the same name, but I suppose it's possible. I suggest not using " (CAP)" unless that forces it, and, even then, restricting it to that specific usage. --[[User:CalculatinAvatar|CalculatinAvatar]] 02:11, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
::Well, most series tend to wind up using 3 letter abbreviations after a while. And yeah even TNG had "The Emissary (TNG)" not to be confused with the pilot episode of Deep Space Nine, "The Emissary (DS9)".--[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 02:14, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

==Abbreviation==
For templating and just basic shorthand, we need an abbreviation we'll officially use for this series, just as ''The Next Generation'' is TNG, ''The Original Series'' is TOS, and Ron D. Moore's ''Battlestar Galactica'' is RDM. I think CAP would be good. Any objections?--[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 02:12, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:"Caprica" in full looks better and doesn't take much longer to type, while CAP is visually consistant with RDM and TOS. I don't much care one way or the other. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 02:14, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
::I guess so, well just in case anyone wanted it. I'm not staking a big discussion on this, I'm just tossing ideas around. Whatever works out. --[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 02:16, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:::Oh I just figured this out: both "Caprica" and "Voyager" have 7 letters, but Memory Alpha uses that "VOY" abbreviation all the time. --[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 02:17, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
::::So will RDM refer to both the RDM universe and the re-imagined series, while CAP refers just to the new spinoff? That is, suppose a new character named "Rigel" shows up in the "Caprica" series. Is she "Rigel (RDM)", or is she "Rigel (CAP)"? --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 02:18, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:::::She'll be summarily executed and all memory of her erased. ...That is a problem, though. --[[User:CalculatinAvatar|CalculatinAvatar]] 02:23, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
'''Thought''': There currently exist no pages requiring re-imagined series vs. ''Caprica'' disambiguation. "RDM" is currently used only for things that are part of both continuities.

'''Proposal''': "TNS" should be used for the things only belonging to the re-imagined series, i.e. Episode Guide (RDM) -> Episode Guide (TNS), Screen Captures (RDM) ->Screen Captures (TNS), and things named the same in both (like hypothetical Rigel and Resistance). "RDM" should be used for the entire continuity that Ronald D. Moore has created.

This minimizes changes, but it disambiguates what must be. --[[User:CalculatinAvatar|CalculatinAvatar]] 02:30, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

:I agree that this is probably the best way out of the problem, but I just want to emphasize how very, very much I don't want to make all these changes. We will need to carefully plan what needs to be moved and what does not, in order to avoid inconsistancies and broken links. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 02:37, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

Well actually I think it can be simpler, and moreover that we didn't want to use "TNS" anymore because it falls back into the "it's a new show, as opposed to the old show" mentality when they're really not comparable. <br>
'''Thought''': "RDM" covers...the entire "RDMverse" for lack of a better word.<br>
'''Proposal''': We'll actually keep using "RDM" for '''almost everything''', and "RDM" is the catch-all word for the "RDMverse", HOWEVER, in cases such as "The Hand of God" which is an episode titled "RDM"....we'll just keep calling those "RDM" because there's only a few of them and they're really easy to spot. ****"CAP" would really only be used as an episode guide abbreviation, and when *citing episode articles*.
--->For example, really the only time I think we'd really use "CAP" is like this: "The Cylon War began 52 years before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies <nowiki>([[RDM]]: "[[Colonial Day]]"), and was started when a Centurion named B166ER killed his human commander ([[CAP]]: "[[Cylon Revolt!]]"</nowiki>" check out a couple of pages on Memory Alpha, ones that cover alien races that span multiple tv shows like Klingons and such: that's the format they use to cite stuff between episodes, even though they're in the same continuity. But really, we can't use "BSG" because that means "BattlestarGroup", and not "TNS" because we don't want to stress that it is the new series. They're all part of the "RDMverse", while the current show is ''specifically'' "RDM", and events, objects, and persons on "Caprica" will still be put in the "RDM" category, but episodes will have "CAP". ---->'''Unless of course, you guys want to invent the term "RDMverse" for use on the Wiki as an all-encompassing term'''--[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 03:18, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

:CA's solution is really the only reasonable thing to do in the long term, even if it is going to be a bit like a root canal. --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 05:31, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

::Well, we've root-canaled before. Just need more laughing gas. Other wikis ''wish'' to have problems like ours. :) I'm in general agreemnent with CA's idea, though it's going to sting. (Oh, I got the B166ER reference, Merv. It wouldn't be an inappropriate way to start the conflict in this show either, come to think of it...) --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 12:40, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:::I hope I read this right... RDM to TNS? Can I work on a bot that does this for us? Does it have to be right now also? There is no set timetable yet for this to show. I was alsmost going to recommend {{tl|delete}} very early AM. --[[User:Shane|Shane]] ([[User_Talk:Shane|T]] - [[Special:Contributions/Shane|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/Shane|E]]) 12:50, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

::Well look I'm not so adamant about it that I'm willing to make some sort of Faustian pact in order to see it done, but I'd ''prefer'' if we didn't use "TNS" because "The New Series" makes it sound like we're trying to set it "as opposed to the Old" when really they're not comparable. I don't know what else we could come up with, but I'm working on it. Though I must say, we have several MONTHS before we get more news on this and we've got time to decide! Yes, Spencerian, other wikis do wish for this kind of spinoff info and discussion! :) Anyone ever read "Stranger in a Strange Land"? Sometimes discussions like this remind me of that thing they mention in passing, that a Martian religious epic poem got made by a nestling that turned into a non-corporeal Old One without realizing it, and thus made a work unlike any other: as a result, the Martians themselves are heavily involved in debating this "art", even HOW to judge it, and are unconcerned with the affairs on Earth in the story; and Heinlein mentions that it will take centuries before they're done discussing this vexing dilemma! :) ***Well yeah, indeed, it is ''more'' applicable than B166ER Spencerian: those bots were just used for grunt work, but according to RDM, the Cylons were used for heavy work like mining ''as well as'' soldiers for wars ''between'' the independent Colonies; like, an army of Cylons fighting for Caprica versus and army of Cylons fighting for Gemenon, stop and ask why they're being forced to kill their fellow Cylons all the time; plus they've already got weapons. Yeah, sort of like the Jaffa in that way, actually (the Goa'uld always fought wars which were essentially just petty rivalries between the Goa'uld System Lords, thousands always dying killing their fellow Jaffa for no real reason). --[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 13:01, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:::First: Heinlein rules. Excellent reference.
:::Second: When I take a step back, I can see how an outsider might consider some of the discussions/debates of this nature to be silly. Perhaps as silly and arbitrary as Green vs Purple (Green rules!), Black/White vs White/Black (Original Series Star Trek), whether the Chosen realm was [[Memoryalpha:Triannon|created]] in nine days or ten days (which should be obvious to any '''rational''' observer, but the debate raged anyway). However, I'm glad that there are people who care about sweating the details like this, and thoughtful (if sometimes energetic) debate about it is one of the great byproducts of the wiki experience.
:::Lastly, and regarding the abbreviation: I don't really have anything definitive to add, but I do ask that we try to disregard the implementation details at first, and try to come up with the "right" way to do it. When I first saw this, I cringed as I anticipated mass conversion of RDM marks over to a new abbreviation. (I even considered pleading "TOS" citizenship, but I think I'm too young.) However our goal is to be 100% correct in the end, which means not having to explain to a user years from now why the abbreviations are inconsistent. Fortunately, in this case we also likely have considerable lead time, and members with the technical expertise to implement whatever high-level category/abbreviation/etc. decisions that consensus arrives at. As for TNS vs TOS, etc. Even as a heavy editor of the TOS pages, I wasn't offended by a TNS (as I often read TOS as being "The Old... Stuff" anyway). However, technically 1980 is newer than TOS, as is any show in the continuity after this one. TRS? (The Reimagined Series?) Ideally these abbreviations would only be used at intersections in namespaces, but there is also the categories to consider. Would all the new material ALSO fall under RDM (so you have an RDM-wide content area), but then also fall under their own respective categories for their series? Well... there's a lot to consider. But we've got plenty of time, and hopefully we can work smart (as opposed to hard) on this to minimize the grunt work and maximize the accuracy, concision, and organization. Green! --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 13:38, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:I think I misunderstood: I'd prefer to use "RDM" to refer to the current BSG series, not TNS, but for destinguishing screencaps and images and such, yeah TNS is just a technicality yeah. I just don't want to see "The Hand of God (TNS)". --[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 13:04, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
::How do you feel about Steelviper's "TRS" idea? I rather like it for the increased accuracy. It seems we agree on leaving stuff from the combined continuity marked "RDM" where necessary to disambiguate from TOS or 1980. I just don't think continuing to use "RDM" for episodes and screen captures of the re-imagined series is appropriate, as it uses the same symbol for two related but distinct concepts (which is even worse than using the same symbol for two completely different concepts); it also breaks on characters with the same name, as normally "Foo (RDM)" would be used for a character from ''Caprica'' and, thus, two articles would "rightfully" have the same name. --[[User:CalculatinAvatar|CalculatinAvatar]] 15:06, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

:Well first off, "Chosen Realm" and Enterprise as a whole are a poor source of analogy, as it was poor writing. :) --->I'd actually prefer "'''RIS'''" , "Re-Imagined Series" over "TRS" "The Reimagines Series", on account of the fact that visually "TRS" is too similar to "TOS", witha difference of only one letter. New thoughts: I think I'd go with "RIS" for the current series because it is a "Re-Imagining" of TOS Battlestar Galactica's idea about a show centered on Galactica and such, but while "Caprica" is set *IN* the "Re-Imagined Universe", it's not a *DIRECT* "not so much a "remake" as a "Re-Imagining" of the essential concept" thing. ---->Therefore, I think now, I'd want to refer to the universe as a whole as "RDM", and characters places and objects like the planet Caprica, William Adama, and the Battlestar Galactica would be "RDM", but like images and episodes (we might get a name re-used or something else) for the re-imagined version of the series centered on Galactica leadering a rag-tag fleet of survivors would be called "RIS" for Re-Imagined Series, while "Caprica" stuff would be "CAP". So use "RIS" instead of "TRS", but otherwise (if I understand what he said correctly) I think I essentially agree with CA. (Either way, I'd prefer these ideas over "TNS") You guys like that idea?--[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 15:27, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
:: So basicly everything that is currently ''RDM'' will be changed to ''RIS'' and this new series would be ''CAP''?
:::No. RDM will continue to be used for things which pertain to the RDM continuity/universe. Only those things which need to be disambiguated from CAP within that framework will get the new tag. So, "Boxey (RDM)" will stay "Boxey (RDM)", but "Screen captures (RDM)" will become "Screen captures (TNS)" (or whatever we decide to call it.) --[[User:Peter Farago|Peter Farago]] 16:49, 27 April 2006 (CDT)

'''''Caprica''''' is a proposed television series to be produced by [[Ronald D. Moore]] and [[David Eick]] for the SciFi Channel. Writer Remi Aubuchon ("24") is the third executive producer, and is the actual showrunner. It is a [[Wikipedia:Prequel|prequel]] to the [[Battlestar Galactica (RDM)|Re-imagined Series]] that deals with the Adama and Graystone families on the planet [[The Twelve Colonies#Caprica|Caprica]] and the invention of the [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylons]].

== Summary ==

The SciFi Channel will delve into the backstory of "Battlestar Galactica" with a new series that looks at the creation of the race of robots known as [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylons]] by the humans of [[The Twelve Colonies|the Twelve Colonies]] of Kobol and the eventual revolt of the Cylons against their human masters, which will lead the two races to become locked to the death in a [[Cylon War|bitter war]] for their respective survivals.

The prequel, called ''Caprica'', heads a list of development projects the cable network unveiled April 26, 2006. ''Caprica'' begins over 50 years before the Ron D. Moore-created ''Battlestar Galactica'' series (RDM).

''Caprica'' will be set more than 50 years prior to the events of "Battlestar Galactica" and focus on the lives of two families: the Adamas (ancestors of future Galactica commander William) and the Graystones. The Twelve Colonies are at peace and on the verge of a technological breakthrough: the first Cylon.

As ''Battlestar Galactica'' is about a lot more than space battles, ''Caprica'' will be as much family drama as sci-fi tale. Remi Aubuchon (''The Lyon's Den'', ''24'') is writing the pilot script; "Galactica" veterans Ronald D. Moore and David Eick will executive produce it. <ref name="Zap2it"> [http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-scifi-galacticaprequel,0,6083698.story?coll=zap-news-headlines Zap2it article on Sci Fi development projects]</ref>

The [http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=2&id=35773 Scifi.com news release] on April 27th, 2006 stated:

:"SCI FI Channel announced the development of Caprica, a spinoff prequel of its hit Battlestar Galactica, in presentations to advertisers in New York on April 26. Caprica would come from Galactica executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, writer Remi Aubuchon (24) and NBC Universal Television Studio.

:Caprica would take place more than half a century before the events that play out in Battlestar Galactica. The people of the Twelve Colonies are at peace and living in a society not unlike our own, but where high-technology has changed the lives of virtually everyone for the better.

:But a startling breakthrough in robotics is about to occur, one that will bring to life the age-old dream of marrying artificial intelligence with a mechanical body to create the first living robot: a Cylon. Following the lives of two families, the Graystones and the Adamas (the family of William Adama, who will one day become the commander of the Battlestar Galactica), Caprica will weave together corporate intrigue, techno-action and sexual politics into television's first science fiction family saga, the channel announced. "

The series in only in early planning stages at the moment and the pitch by Ron Moore has not yet been formally picked up, and it might be a year or two before it begins. It is described as not just focusing on scifi battles and action, but on the complex family and character relationships and connections which interplay during this major event in human history.

==Production==

According to an [http://www.ifmagazine.com/feature.asp?article=1487 interview] with IFmagazine, David Eick said that they had been contemplating a spinoff prequel series since season 2 began and were tossing around ideas. About the same time, ''24'' writer Remi Aubuchon pitched a series that had a lot of similarities to the Cylon storyline. Realizing that they could not devote their full time to both ''Battlestar Galactica'' and a spinoff, Moore and Eick decided to merge with Auchubon, seeing it as an opportunity: "We took some of what we had and some of what he had ".

According to a [http://mboard.scifi.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=1818631#Post1818631 post] on the official Scifi.com messageboard by Ron Moore's wife Terry Dresbach, executive producer Remi Aubochon will be the showrunner for "Caprica", in charge of the writing staff. Ron Moore will oversee and approve the story arcs, casting, sets, and read the scripts, though Moore will probably rarely write an individual episode for ''Caprica''.

In an [http://scifipulse.net/battlestarnews/RemiAubuchon.html interview] in Dreamwatch Magazine in May 2006, Remi Aubuchon said that he originally pitched a series which was an "allegorical story about slavery with robots", when approached by Moore and Eick. Aubuchon stated that [[William Adama]] will be 11 years old when the series begins. Aubuchon described the new show by saying, "This is a very human story about how our own hubris can lead us to disaster". He goes on to say that ''Caprica'' is meant to stand on its own from ''BSG'': while still addressing backstory issues from ''Battlestar'', it will not be required to have watched it to enjoy ''Caprica''. However, "certain elements have been embedded into the first few episodes of season 3" of ''Battlestar Galactica'', which might refer to things which will be further fleshed-out in the prequel series.

On November 6, 2006, the Sci Fi Pulse website reported that Ron D. Moore updated Dreamwatch magazine regarding the new series:

:“It’s actually a prequel, and this would be a one hour pilot not a mini – series. It takes place 50 years before the events of ''Battlestar Galactica'' and it’s essentially about the creation of the Cylons.

:“It’s a very different show; it’s not action – adventure and it’s not even in space. It takes place on the Planet (sic) Caprica and it’s more of a family drama, with political and corporate intrigue. We’re well into the writing of it actually; we’re doing re-writes on the script right now and Sci Fi has been very happy so far. At the moment, we’re just waiting to see if they greenlight it or not. Generally, there’s always a two step process: there’s ordering the pilot and then there’s ordering the series, but because we’re not designing it as a mini – series, I don’t know that anybody would even see the pilot if they chose not to go to series with it.”

:“Tonally, it will be very different,” promises Moore. “This is Caprica before the fall. It’s a decadent world, but also a world that’s going at a very fast pace. It’s a prosperous society that hasn’t experienced the devastation of the first Cylon war yet, so this culture has really not been taken down a peg, and their hubris is getting the better of them. It’s a go – go society that’s teetering on the brink, so it’s not that apocalyptic survival scenario of ''Galactica''. The whole thing is tonally very different.” <ref>{{cite_news|first=Ian M. |last=Cullen|url=http://scifipulse.net/battlestarnews/RDM_Caprica_Update.html|title=Ron D. Commandant '''Leiter''' is an [[Eastern Alliance]] [[Eastern Alliance destroyer|destroyer]] commander who discovers [[Viper (TOS)|Colonial Vipers]]. Leiter is ruthless and fascist; a consummate Eastern Alliance commander. He comments that the people on Destroyer Two were incompetent and unworthy of the ship they were bestowed.

Upon discovery of the Vipers, Leiter orders [[Krebbs]] to alter course to [[Paradeen]] after the latter reported the fighters as having a power consumption of immeasurable scale. They subsequently track the landing beacon -- left on by [[Hector]] who neglected to deactivate and destroy the device -- and attempts to threaten [[Sarah]] with [[Walker]]'s life, hoping to reveal the locations of the Viper pilots. Much to Leiter's misfortune, [[Michael]], [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]], [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]] and their group had other ideas in mind and manage to overpower the dozen Alliance officers.

When the destroyer is escorted to ''[[Galactica (TOS)|Galactica]]'' by Apollo and Starbuc, Leiter attempts to boast about the power of the Eastern Alliance, to which Starbuck cheerfully points out [[Battlestar (TOS)|battlestar]] ''Galactica''. This leaves Leiter in amazement after Krebbs indicates the ship as being the largest that they have ever seen before ([[Greetings from Earth (TOS)|Greetings from Earth]]).

Leiter and his officers are imprisoned on the [[Prison Barge]], where [[Adama (TOS)|Adama]] later questions him regarding [[Terra]] and other aspects of the Eastern Alliance. Typical of his type, Leiter reveals little of worth before [[Reese]] interrupts Adama's interrogation.

The commandant is later involved with the escape of the [[Borellian Nomen]], [[Baltar (TOS)|Baltar]], and the Alliance officers. Thanks to Baltar and the captured Quorum members, he manages to get his crew and ship back, lifting off ''Galactica'' with the three [[Borellian Nomen|Nomen]] ([[Bora]], [[Maga]], and [[Taba]]) ([[Baltar's Escape (TOS)|Baltar's Escape]]).

== Biography ==
=== Background ===
'''Boomer''' is a reserved, thoughtful and loyal survivor of the Cylon's wholesale slaughter of humanity ([[Saga of a Star World]]). He became a [[Viper (TOS)|Viper]] pilot attached to ''[[Galactica (TOS)|Galactica]]'' sometime after his tours of duty on planets ([[Gun on Ice Planet Zero]]). Boomer seems the antithesis of his closest friend, [[Starbuck (TOS)|Lieutenant Starbuck]], and tends to think more logically. However, like Starbuck, Boomer is also a consummate Viper pilot, willing to risk his life for friend and innocent.

While there are gaps in his history, Boomer once pulled a tour of duty at Ice Station Thola; the experience of which would later be useful for taking out the [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylon]] occupying the [[Ravishol Pulsar]] weapon on [[Arcta]] ([[Gun on Ice Planet Zero]]). He also is fluent in Gemonese, which aids communications between [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]] and the Gemon woman on ''[[Gemini]]'', a freighter, were it not for [[Cassiopeia]]'s assistance ([[Saga of a Star World]]). His ''tour de force'' with appropriation of hovermobiles during his adolescence also proved resourceful during the ship-wide disaster that strikes ''Galactica'' within the first year of her flight ([[Fire in Space]]).

=== After the Cylon Attack ===
Boomer was instrumental in clearing the Cylon-laid minefield in the [[Straits of Madagon]], for which he would later earn a Gold Cluster for by the behests of [[Uri|Sire Uri]] -- albeit under a basically shrewd pretense to call for the disarmament of the remaining Colonials on [[Carillon]]. Boomer is the first person to pick up on the apparent façade projected by their [[Ovion]] hosts, although Starbuck attempts to ineffectively rebuke it. Boomer is instrumental in also picking up on [[Adama (TOS)|Adama]]'s deception with people donning Colonial Warrior uniforms during the aborted ceremonies ([[Saga of a Star World]]).
[[Image:BoomerPartyLostPlanet1.jpg|thumb|left|Boomer attends Apollo's bachelor party, infecting the other pilots with a mysterious illness ([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I]]).]]
Boomer and another friend, [[Jolly (TOS)|Flight Sergeant Jolly]], happen upon a Cylon outpost, skipping decontamination and bringing back a deadly viral agent that incapacitates all people that the two were in contact with. He and Jolly manage to incapacitate a majority of the pilots, thus necessitating replacements from [[Colonial Shuttle (TOS)|Colonial Shuttle]] corps ([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I]]). After he and the fellow pilots recover, Boomer spearheads a revival of the original [[Blue Squadron]], although they were still under the afflictions of the virus' symptoms ([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part II]]).

Boomer and Starbuck also manage to recover [[Apollo (TOS)|Flight Captain Apollo]] from [[Equellus]], after obtaining permission from Commander Adama. It should be noted that it was fairly obvious that they would have gone anyway, regardless of any permission given by Adama. Adama previously orders that no search be done for Apollo due to the perception he would favor his son over the Fleet's safety ([[The Lost Warrior]]). The lieutenant subsequently saves his friend Starbuck from the [[Proteus]] prison planetoid, as well as the planetoid itself from Cylon attack ([[The Long Patrol]]).

Another instrumental strike mission is on the ice planet of [[Arcta]], which he is involved in due to his experience on the Thola station. During the recruitment procedures, Boomer parlays the hypothesis that someone (Starbuck) manipulated the computer records so that he would be added to the mission team. Lead by Starbuck, Boomer is instrumental in taking out the Cylon garrison while Apollo, [[Croft]] and [[Leda]] take on the pulsar's mechanisms in tandem. The mission is a success, however it was not without its problems ([[Gun on Ice Planet Zero]]).

When the Fleet suffers from a lack of nourishment due to the Cylon's successful destruction of the Fleet's food stores, Boomer and Starbuck are tasked to trade [[Belloby|Siress Belloby]]'s [[energizer]] for seed on [[agron colony]] [[Sectar (planet)|Sectar]]. Unfortunately, the energizer is stolen from their hands and Boomer reports this back to Adama while Starbuck manages to win his way into [[Serenity]]'s constable position for the short term ([[The Magnificent Warriors]]).

Boomer is forced to see Starbuck into a controlled crash-landing on the Delta-class marsh planet of [[Antilla]], and returns to the Fleet to procure assistance. Apollo and Boomer land on the planet sometime later to see that the Cylons, lead by the unscrupulous [[Specter]], flee the planet. Of course, when they were leaving, Boomer voices the age-old question of Starbuck's charm on women to his Flight Captain: "How does he do it?" ([[The Young Lords]]).

With the return of [[Cain (TOS)|Commander Cain]], as well as the need for [[tylium|fuel]], Boomer is part of a commando unit that eliminates the Cylon's control center on [[Gamoray (TOS)|Gamoray]] and pilfering fuel from Cylon storage depots for the Fleet ([[The Living Legend, Part I (TOS)|The Living Legend]]).

Boomer is also instrumental in the rescue and well-being of everyone trapped in the Rejuvenation Center during a massive fire on the battlestar, managing to open a door in another section of the ship. Unfortunately, Boomer could not jury-rig additional doors as a fire on the other side blocked the only door within the storage room adjoining to the Center. He does get a note to [[Tigh (TOS)|Colonel Tigh]], informing him that they were alive and in need of rescue ([[Fire in Space]]).

One of the many warriors to disappear into the [[Ship of Lights]], although before this [[Iblis]] influences Boomer in a game of [[Triad (TOS)|Triad]] against Apollo and Starbuck. This causes the defeat of their Red Team, but since there was interference it probably wasn't considered a win for him, although he was tired of losing to both Warriors ([[War of the Gods]]).

Boomer later questions [[Chameleon]], who claimed to be Starbuck's father, breaking up a situation that happened nearly a [[centar]] prior concerning the [[Borellian Nomen]] and [[Taba]]'s activated [[laser bola]]. He fills Apollo in on his hunch, which turns out to be true as the two warriors attempt to get something out of the man. Of course, the story Chameleon tells them about testing a Nomen child is not true, and Boomer subsequently discovers that Chameleon was fleeing from them as he swindles [[Maga]] and his Nomen. Boomer also discoveres the two Nomen, Maga and [[Bora]], miraculously alive in the launch tube after Chameleon fires the Vipers lasers at them ([[The Man With Nine Lives]]).

The lieutenant must defend his friend, Starbuck, from a crime he didn't commit: the termination of [[Ortega|Flight Sergeant Ortega]]. He and Apollo manage to find out that Ortega had been blackmailing three people, [[Karibdis]], [[Riftis]], and [[Elias]], whom bribed the warrior for passage off the planet [[Caprica (TOS)|Caprica]] through the ''[[Rising Star (TOS)|Rising Star]]''. In a brash and rare act of insubordination, Boomer activates Alpha Channel without consent, allowing the Tribunal to hear the confession of Karibdis. This act saves Starbuck from being tried as a killer and sentenced to rotting in the [[Prison Barge]] with characters that would had liked to get their hands on him ([[Murder on the Rising Star (TOS)|Murder on the Rising Star]]).

Boomer fools the [[Council Security]] officers and spectators to the "unloading" of [[Michael]] and his passengers from the Terran space vehicle, as [[Salik]], Adama, Apollo, and Starbuck believe that the only way these "[[Earthlings]]" could be saved is by getting them off ''Galactica''. When found out, he utters, "Jolly, you forgot the kids!" ([[Greetings from Earth]]).

Sometime later, Boomer and [[Sheba]] are assigned to transfer the [[Eastern Alliance]] prisoners along with two other snobbish security [[Blackshirt|"blackshirts"]]. He manages to cause the shuttle's gravitational field to deviate, causing the immature Council Security men to quiet themselves, at least temporarily. Although the Security men threaten (privately, of course) to report him, the incident is forgotten or deemed unimportant as these same guards -- and the two Colonial Warriors -- are taken hostage by [[Baltar (TOS)|Baltar]], the Nomen, and [[Leiter|Commandant Leiter]]'s people. Baltar threatens to kill Boomer, eleven members of the [[Quorum of Twelve (TOS)|Quorum]], and the three original occupants by destroying the shuttle with explosive charges. Yet, the group manages to get through the situation unscathed, as Starbuck and Apollo relieve Baltar of the detonator on his [[Cylon Raider (TOS)|raider]] ([[Baltar's Escape]]).

[[Image:Apollo 11.jpg|thumb|right|Boomer analyzes the Gamma frequency signal ([[The Hand of God (TOS)|The Hand of God]]).]]

Something of an electronic/communications expert, Starbuck, Apollo, [[Cassiopeia]], and Sheba turn to Boomer for assistance on a recording they'd discovered on a [[Gamma frequency]] in a [[Celestial chamber]]. However, despite his attempts, Boomer manages to get only some clarity out of it; of course, he isn't able to consult [[Wilker|Doctor Wilker]] on it as the recording is destroyed in ''Galactica'''s attack on the lone [[basestar (TOS)|basestar]].

Boomer's desire to go with Apollo and Starbuck on the mission to board the basestar is outweighed by his experience as a Viper flight leader, where he was most needed. Along with a worried Sheba, Boomer manages to occupy the Cylon's Raiders while the ''Galactica'' destroys the basestar. Alas, Starbuck and Apollo lose their transmitter and are unable to identify themselves by scanning. Boomer, however, notices an irregular pattern in the flying, and exclaims with joy that Apollo and Starbuck piloted the Raider since "They're waggling!"

Despite the recording's destruction, Boomer sets up a Gamma frequency booster for Apollo, which does pick up a signal ([[The Hand of God (TOS)|The Hand of God]]). However, it is unknown whether or not Apollo or anyone else knows about this signal, which was clearly received, thanks to Boomer's contrivance.

Thirty years after the [[Battle of Cimtar|destruction of the Colonies]], Commander '''Adama''' has finally led [[The Fleet (TOS)|the fleet]] to the planet [[Earth]].

During the 30 years of exodus, a few changes have befallen Adama and the [[The Fleet (TOS)|Fleet]]. [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo has died]], although his son [[Troy (1980)|Troy]] is a captain in the the Fleet and becomes a key figure (along with [[Dillon|Lt. Dillon]]) in many of the missions to Earth. Adama's right hand man, [[Tigh (TOS)|Colonel Tigh]] has been replaced by [[Boomer (TOS)|Colonel Boomer]].

The finding of Earth does not prove to be salvation that the Colonials had hoped for, however, as they find Earth to be woefully behind in technology and culture.

Adama and his advisor, [[Doctor Zee]], determine that the Earth is not yet ready for contact with [[Galactica (TOS)|''Galactica'']] or the [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylons]]. They decide that covert action would be more prudent, and thus begin a plan whereby they influence the people of Earth in the hopes of helping to prepare them for contact ([[Galactica Discovers Earth, Part I|Galactica Discovers Earth]]).

Viannah: /* Re: Silly */

Hi, I've been an editing Battlewikipedian for a good long while now, but this is my first significant page I've created. (Between the lines....please don't burn me at the stake if I've done some aspects of this not quite in line with our voluminous rules).

Since everyone has been catching so many Easter eggs from time to time, a discussion on a BSG blog led to me wondering if there was a master list of easter eggs here. I tried "easter eggs," I tried, "easter," I tried "eggs, "homages," "hidden,"...but didn't see a match. So, here is the "Easter Eggs (RDM) page, which as you can see is quite sad, like all new pages.

Is this a silly page? It's not made to be funny, so I doubt it. But collecting easter eggs is, as the name suggests, not to be taken seriously. I'm sure someone out there has a good opinion on this and how to categorize these types of things.

So please now help us catalogue the touches to the show that normally had nothing to do with the plot.

It would be most useful if ecah can be labelled with a timehack, described where in the episode it occurse, and/or with an appropriately credited photo.
:Easter eggs are more like secret features on DVD's and things, this stuff is more like the [[Re-imagined Series References]] page --[[User:Mercifull|Mercifull]] ([[User talk:Mercifull|Talk]]/[[Special:Contributions/Mercifull|Contribs]]) 11:02, 23 October 2006 (CDT)
::Yeah, I was going to mention that. There is already some overlap with the "reference" page --[[User:Serenity|Serenity]] 11:27, 23 October 2006 (CDT)
::Concur. Also just wanted to note that it's a [[Pan Galactic]] logo. Though this does raise the issue of visibility of the Reimagined References page (linked by Merc above). If one didn't know about it, it would be (obviously) difficult to locate... --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 11:45, 23 October 2006 (CDT)

:::Thanks, Keithustus. I'm sorry that you had to have worked so hard to create what was already on the wiki. In which case, based on your search terms, the wiki let you down because none of your fellow contributors bothered to think of and add redirects for synonyms for easter eggs, redirecting them to the current article. Unless others have a reason against it, I'm more inclined to the use of "Easter eggs (RDM)" as a more appropriately named article. We'll probably have to mark Keith's article for deletion, but we should move anything new that's not in the References article. We should also visit the [[Talk:Re-imagined Series References]] to start this discussion. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 11:52, 23 October 2006 (CDT)
::::Well, the best part of digital distribution is that no, I didn't have to work all that hard. Someone had pretty much that list on the message board where the issue came up, so I added the Wiki code and a couple 'eggs' of my own. Nothing to it. As far as the whole article for deletion and moving/copying info from references, etc....I'm not a wiki master and must let the pros handle that. It will be quite a bit more useful if the "Easter Egg (RDM)" title and the references pages can be married. Especially for people, like me, who never thought to try the word, "references." - [[User:Keithustus|Keithustus]] 23:22, 23 October 2006 (CDT)

==Re: Silly==

I don't really find this page to be Silly (at least, not the way [[Toaster]] is Silly (and I love that article, by the way)) ... Easter Eggs are a common phenomenon in many forms of media and are often meant as in-jokes or homages to influences or other works. I say, remove the silly tag ... unless this article is just going to be moved/merged/deleted, in which case, it's a non-issue. [[User:JubalHarshaw|JubalHarshaw]] 12:51, 24 October 2006 (CDT)
:Concur. It is, as you point out, likely to be a non-issue as this space is likely to be bulldozed and either become the new site of the "Reimagined References" or a redirect to the same. Silly pages have a minimum humor threshhold, and while the content of this article was certainly worthwhile (and happens to be catalogued elsewhere) it really isn't all that funny. --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 13:03, 24 October 2006 (CDT)
:: Okay... so are we deleting/redirecting it or not? [[User:Viannah|Viannah]] 23:23, 26 October 2006 (CDT)
