Firstly i'd like to congratulate you on a top notch job on Battlestar wiki. It never dissapoints and it looks super slick. stupidly enough, i've left it until very recently to actually register, as opposed to just visiting all the time. I'd like to thank you for taking time to read this also and I hope I have not wasted your time by the end of the post.

Basically, I need you help. I am re-creating the BSG seal that sits nicely above the CiC door. I am making it out of wood and all the pieces you see on it are all individually shaped, sprayed, and then assembled. creating the pieces, eg. the caprican crest in the centre are not hard to make. the proplem is the colours used for the paint. I cannot get an accurate reading from a picture of the real thing and most other pictures have a light shining down on it and distorts the colour.

would you, or any of your colleagues know where I could find out the colour chart? it would be greatly appreciated. I am creating it for use in my own home. something to spruce the place up a bit.

== Protecting the Ranks Page ==

I read your comment and wanted to ask if you even looked at the reasoning behind my changes. I'm glad to know somebody is here who actually has reliable information because admittedly a lot of what I've got is based on speculation. However as I commented to Serenity, I think it unfair that he constantly reverses all my changes without even looking at them (this isn't the only page I've battled with him over) and I feel like you just did the same thing. If you are going to lock it ok but at least look at the two conflicting versions and decide which parts of each should go up in the interim, because they way it is now, it's simply not fair. I believe some of my changes warrant being up there now such as my removal of ranks for which their is no support at all (Vice Admiral and Senior Chief Petty Officer) and the addition of certain people to the rank lists. I have felt from the time I joined like I couldn't do anything, any changes I made were promptly undone and I felt like if I complained I'd get booted out entirely since he is an administrator, if you want a truely open community everybody has to feel like they can participate and to tell you the truth, I have not felt that way at all. I know you don't want me to take it personally, but if you were in my position, wouldn't you?
: A couple things... I understand where you're coming from. I do see that Serenity contacted you earlier this month via your talk page, explaining his reasons why he reverted your changes when you joined. (You're fear of retribution for offering criticism or complaint is unwarranted, and something you projected upon yourself; simply put, you didn't know either way, but assumed the worst. We can't control that. Fact of the matter is that you didn't respond to him the first time.) That being said, I will ask you this: what would you have done if our roles were reversed?
: As for the issue of reviewing your edits, I did review them. you did make massive changes that were incorrect both factually and aesthetically. There actually is a "senior chief petty officer" rank, for instance, and there is logic behind there being a "vice admiral" rank (or similar, it may be called "senior admiral"), since it's been established that there's a "rear admiral". Further, there was absolutely no need for the "Razor, Part I" and "Razor, Part II" designations you've assigned, since "Razor" is one whole episode. (It has two production numbers for budgetary reasons, since they had to rebuild the sets for "Pegasus" after they'd been struck after Season 3. The production team members I've talked to considers that outing an interesting experience.) Not to mention the capitalization issues that you've added back in—it is bad form to capitalize ranks or titles, unless you're referring to a specific person when doing so, like Commander Adama or Admiral Cain.
: Further, as I noted on Serenity's talk page, I am fully cognizant of the fact that editing the contested article now would be a waste of time and resources for both parties concerned, simply because there is new information available to us that needs to be entered, information that I have access to. The reason I didn't respond to Serenity's first post was because until yesterday I had been unable to figure out how. As far as fear of retribution, I've never really been involved with a wiki before so I wasn't really sure what to expect and was kind of intimidated. I appreciate you're addressing my issues. Not only did it help me understand why things were happening the way they were, but it also made me feel like my input was welcome and that was all I was asking for. I am anxious to see any clarification you can offer in the weeks ahead because I find this a rather fascinating topic.

It took me several views before I noticed that there was one there. In S4E1: He That Believeth In Me, at about 4:30, look at the Viper behind Tyrol when he yells 'Get that showboat bird in the tubes!'. You can see that it's the older style by the square wing, instead of the more triangular ones on the newer versions. I only noticed it when my computer happened to freeze at that exact moment-I saw it, and thought 'Hey, that's the MKI from the miniseries!'
That's the only other time I've ever seen it, I never shows up in the battle, it just looks like another cool little reference to the original series. {{unsigned|Marauder Pilot}}

Firstly i'd like to congratulate you on a top notch job on Battlestar wiki. It never dissapoints and it looks super slick. stupidly enough, i've left it until very recently to actually register, as opposed to just visiting all the time. Basically, I need you help. I am re-creating the BSG seal that sits nicely above the CiC door. I am making it out of wood and all the pieces you see on it are all individually shaped, sprayed, and then assembled. creating the pieces, eg. the caprican crest in the centre are not hard to make. the proplem is the colours used for the paint. I cannot get an accurate reading from a picture of the real thing and most other pictures have a light shining down on it and distorts the colour.

would you, or any of your colleagues know where I could find out the colour chart? it would be greatly appreciated. I am creating it for use in my own home. something to spruce the place up a bit.

I read your comment and wanted to ask if you even looked at the reasoning behind my changes. I'm glad to know somebody is here who actually has reliable information because admittedly a lot of what I've got is based on speculation. However as I commented to Serenity, I think it unfair that he constantly reverses all my changes without even looking at them (this isn't the only page I've battled with him over) and I feel like you just did the same thing. If you are going to lock it ok but at least look at the two conflicting versions and decide which parts of each should go up in the interim, because they way it is now, it's simply not fair. I believe some of my changes warrant being up there now such as my removal of ranks for which their is no support at all (Vice Admiral and Senior Chief Petty Officer) and the addition of certain people to the rank lists. I have felt from the time I joined like I couldn't do anything, any changes I made were promptly undone and I felt like if I complained I'd get booted out entirely since he is an administrator, if you want a truely open community everybody has to feel like they can participate and to tell you the truth, I have not felt that way at all. I know you don't want me to take it personally, but if you were in my position, wouldn't you?

I do see that Serenity contacted you earlier this month via your talk page, explaining his reasons why he reverted your changes when you joined. (You're fear of retribution for offering criticism or complaint is unwarranted, and something you projected upon yourself; simply put, you didn't know either way, but assumed the worst. We can't control that. Fact of the matter is that you didn't respond to him the first time.) That being said, I will ask you this: what would you have done if our roles were reversed?
: As for the issue of reviewing your edits, I did review them. you did make massive changes that were incorrect both factually and aesthetically. There actually is a "senior chief petty officer" rank, for instance, and there is logic behind there being a "vice admiral" rank (or similar, it may be called "senior admiral"), since it's been established that there's a "rear admiral". Further, there was absolutely no need for the "Razor, Part I" and "Razor, Part II" designations you've assigned, since "Razor" is one whole episode. (It has two production numbers for budgetary reasons, since they had to rebuild the sets for "Pegasus" after they'd been struck after Season 3. The production team members I've talked to considers that outing an interesting experience.) Not to mention the capitalization issues that you've added back in—it is bad form to capitalize ranks or titles, unless you're referring to a specific person when doing so, like Commander Adama or Admiral Cain.
: Further, as I noted on Serenity's talk page, I am fully cognizant of the fact that editing the contested article now would be a waste of time and resources for both parties concerned, simply because there is new information available to us that needs to be entered, information that I have access to. It took me several views before I noticed that there was one there. In S4E1: He That Believeth In Me, at about 4:30, look at the Viper behind Tyrol when he yells 'Get that showboat bird in the tubes!'. You can see that it's the older style by the square wing, instead of the more triangular ones on the newer versions. I only noticed it when my computer happened to freeze at that exact moment-I saw it, and thought 'Hey, that's the MKI from the miniseries!'

The first twelve battlestars were laid down in the early days of the [[Cylon War]]. Each of these twelve battlestars represented one of the [[Twelve Colonies of Kobol]] ([[Miniseries]]).

The original battlestars were space-going leviathans of some 4,720ft (1,438.64m) in length, housing at least 4 squadrons of 20 [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]] space superiority fighters apiece and nuclear warheads. A fully-armed battlestar is capable of a wide range of offensive actions, while her defensive armaments ensure she is fully capable of both protecting herself from attack and engaging an enemy at close quarters.

Following the end of the war, the original battlestars remained in service and many newer battlestars were built. At the time of the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]], the newer [[Mercury class battlestar|''Mercury'' class]] represented the top of the line. Ships such as these and the ''[[Valkyrie]]'' type battlestars have nearly completely replaced the original battlestars, making ''Galactica'' the last of this unnamed class still in its original condition. [[Unnamed battlestars|A few other ships]] of the class remained in service, although it is likely that these battlestars shared only their external configuration with ''Galactica'', and were upgraded and thus more technologically advanced <ref name="upgrade">[[Aaron Doral]]'s comment at the start of the Miniseries, that ''Galactica'' is the "last of her kind", suggests that other ''Galactica'' type battlestars still in service use equipment that may be entirely different, regardless of the external configuration. However, they are grossly inferior to [[Cylon]] systems in terms of [[Red Line|safe range]] ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]).

Battlestars are intended to operate for long periods without re-supplying. Their water purification capabilities alone are so efficient that, barring an emergency or unforeseen event, a battlestar can operate "for several years before replenishing" ([[Water]]). They also appear capable of undertaking large-scale repairs following battle damage ([[Miniseries]], "[[Water]]"). They have ammunition assembly capabilities in the armory ([[Epiphanies]]) and may have small general fabrication facilities ([[Litmus]]). The first twelve battlestars were laid down in the early days of the [[Cylon War]]. Each of these twelve battlestars represented one of the [[Twelve Colonies of Kobol]] ([[Miniseries]]).

The original battlestars were space-going leviathans of some 4,720ft (1,438.64m) in length, housing at least 4 squadrons of 20 [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]] space superiority fighters apiece and nuclear warheads. A fully-armed battlestar is capable of a wide range of offensive actions, while her defensive armaments ensure she is fully capable of both protecting herself from attack and engaging an enemy at close quarters.

Following the end of the war, the original battlestars remained in service and many newer battlestars were built. At the time of the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]], the newer [[Mercury class battlestar|''Mercury'' class]] represented the top of the line. However, the multiple nuclear weapons that they detonate create an [[EMP]] that blinds their [[DRADIS]], leaving them temporarily unaware of Colonial movement in the immediate area. Admiral Cain uses this to her advantage and orders her ship to [[Blind jump|randomly jump without a coordinates check]].

After their escape, Cain leads ''Pegasus'' on a series of hit-and-run attacks against Cylon assets. One such [[Battle of the Communications Relay|attack]] is against what is thought to be a lightly-defended communications relay but turns out to be a staging area with fifteen squadrons of [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Raider]]s. When Cain's long-time executive officer [[Jurgen Belzen]] refuses her order to launch all of the ships' Vipers, calling it suicide, she summarily executes him in CIC and promotes [[Jack Fisk]] to replace him. During the battle, the [[Cylon agent]] [[Gina]] allows a party of [[Cylon Centurion|Centurions]] to breach the ship's defenses and board, resulting in heavy casualties. When Gina is exposed as a Cylon, she kills several Marines before she is subdued. Once imprisoned, Admiral Cain directs her crew to use extreme methods, including gang-rape and other physical and emotional abuse, to break the prisoner.

Some time later, ''Pegasus'' realizes that a Cylon fleet it is tracking is not jumping randomly but is following a path along systems with natural resources. When it jumps to scout the Cylons' next projected position, ''Pegasus'' encounters the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] led by ''[[Galactica]]''; it turns out the Cylons are jumping to systems ''Galactica'' has passed through or explored. Cain assumes overall command of the Fleet and begins transferring supplies and personnel between the two battlestars, including Captain [[Lee Adama]] and Lieutenant [[Kara Thrace]]. Cain's indifference to the needs of the civilian ships prompts President [[Laura Roslin]] to raise her concerns with Commander [[William Adama]].

When Chief [[Galen Tyrol|Tyrol]] and Lieutenant [[Karl Agathon]] inadvertently kill Cain's chief "Cylon interrogator" Lieutenant [[Alastair Thorne]], Admiral Cain has no reservations sentencing them to death.<ref>During his interrogation by Colonel [[Saul Tigh]] in "[[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]", Chief Tyrol mentions that he served aboard a number of battlestars in his military career, including ''Pegasus'', but doesn't mention if Cain was in command at the time. If she was and ever knew him then, she makes no mention of it.</ref> Commander Adama demands their return, precipitating an armed standoff between the two ships ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]). The two later set aside their animosity and join forces to successfully destroy a Cylon [[Resurrection Ship]]. During the immediate celebrations that follow, however, Cain is ambushed in her quarters by Gina, who shoots her and escapes from the battlestar undetected ([[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]).

Jack Fisk succeeds Cain as commander of ''Pegasus'', who in turn is murdered after running afoul of the Fleet's illicit black market ([[Black Market]]). Command then falls briefly to chief engineer-turned-commander [[Barry Garner]], who dies saving the ship during the [[Battle of the Binary Star System]]. Rather than defend them as ''Galactica'' did its own at [[Ragnar Anchorage]], Admiral Cain uses them as a source of spare parts, deciding that ''Pegasus's'' military needs take priority over theirs.

Cain also reviews their passenger lists and draws up a list of selectees, people such as aeronautical engineer [[Peter Laird]] who would be of value, to forcibly draft into her crew. However, some are with their families and refuse to leave them. Facing an uprising aboard the civilian transport ''[[Scylla]]'' that spreads to the other ships, Admiral Cain orders Colonel Fisk to shoot the families of any who resist. When the angry crowd gets violent, Lieutenant [[Kendra Shaw]] and her Marines carry out the order, killing 10 people and cowing the rest into submission.

The civilian ships are stripped of useful items, including their weapons and FTL drives, and are left to their fate as ''Pegasus'' resumes her campaign of hit-and-run attacks against the Cylons ("[[Razor]]", "[[Resurrection Ship, Part I]]").

===New Caprica===

Following the founding of [[New Caprica]], ''Pegasus'' is assigned to the Orbital Defense Force that protects the planet. During this time, Commander [[Lee Adama]] keeps an emergency supply of medication aboard for the pilots, despite the fact that their crew are severely depleted due to colonization of the planet. One year after the founding the colony, the Cylons return in force. Unable to defend the planet, ''Pegasus'' and the remaining ships orbiting the planet jump away ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]).

Four months later, ''Pegasus'' and ''Galactica'' plan a rescue mission to recover the people left on the planet ([[Occupation]]). While the plans initially called for the involvement of ''Pegasus'' in the recovery, Admiral Adama decides that the remnants of the Fleet, the last free people of humanity, should not be left unprotected if things went awry. Adama takes ''Galactica'' in the rescue effort without ''Pegasus'', ordering his son to stay with the Fleet at a rendezvous point to await their return ("[[Precipice]]", "[[Exodus, Part I]]").

Despite Adama's orders, ''Pegasus'' leaves her fighters to protect the remains of the Fleet and returns to New Caprica to participate in the rescue. ''Pegasus'' jumps into the fight and finds ''Galactica'' under fire from four Cylon basestars. ''Pegasus'' destroys one of the baseships with her forward batteries and attracts the attention of the others while ''Galactica'' repairs its FTL drive and prepares to jump away.

As the evacuation Raptors jump away, ''Pegasus'', mortally damaged and now completely unmanned, collides with a basestar, destroying it. As ''Pegasus'' explodes, the remains of her starboard [[flight pod]] collides with another basestar, destroying it as well ([[Exodus, Part II]]).

Since these designations are later used for very different squadrons led by different people, they are very likely just [[wireless]] callsigns. Moreover, the standing [[Squadrons of Galactica|squadrons on ''Galactica'']] have more elaborate names and are numbered; such as the [[Vigilantes]]. The colors and group leaders could be assigned on an ad-hoc basis, while a more formal structure exists in the background.

Given that ''Pegasus'' suffers over 90 Viper casualties with 32 being destroyed during its [[Battle of the Communications Relay|attack on a Cylon communications relay]] ([[Razor]]), but is still able to field a sizable Viper complement at the time of encountering ''Galactica'', this suggests that her initial Viper load out was very large.
