Story note incorrect
The spoiler story note is incorrect as it does not happen in this episode. It should be moved to the article for Part II once this article is unlocked. 23skidoo 04:03, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Driving while intoxicated
I am wondering about the recurring reference to driving while intoxicated in this episode. C6 asked Balter if he often drinks and drives to which he replies, "I drink... he drives," while pointing at the unseen limo driver. Roslin's family is killed by a drunk driver in a later scene. Will the driver be someone we know? Probably not since there is really no time to explore this (maybe in "The Plan" if that indeed is going to air.) Not a big deal in the scheme of things, but it is curious that this pops up twice.

Also, when Lee got home did he drive home drunk? I wonder if it turns out that Adama was arrested for DUI and now must attend alcohol counseling or some such? Pure speculation, and probably not of consequence.

*Neither theory is likely, as the effects from such an event would have been apparent, even in the brief set of flashbacks seen from the characters. -Sgtpayne 1528 - 16 March, 2009 (EST)
Julius -- dead?
I found Caprica-Six's comment "He seemed happy when I saw him last" (or however the line actually reads) to be somewhat ominous. Am I the only one that thinks she may have killed him rather than put him in the home?
--Vodou 17:00, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
:That would not serve her purpose and would be easy to discover. -- Noneofyourbusiness 17:45, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
::I think that rather depends on her purpose. If she was getting rid of Julius so she could be near Baltar w/o interference, then Julius might be dead. And given the hatred Gaius demonstrated for his father, what are the odds he'd ever check up on her story?

::(Of course I'm quite willing to concede that I may be wrong.)

::--Vodou 19:13, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

:I agree, it is ominous. It can't be taken in reference to the imminent Fall of the Twelve Colonies because it is obvious the scene takes place at least several months earlier. Maybe she was freeing Baltar of the burden and telling him a story to ease the pain. She wanted Baltar to respect his father and this story would help. This was not answered in the series, so will only be mentionable in the article (beyond Questions section) if it is officially discussed by the creators in the future. Good discussion topic! --xlynx 12:29, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

::I think the point of the Julius-related flashbacks was to show that even in her genocidal days, Caprica Six was able to generate more compassion for Baltar's father than self-centred Baltar himself could. The weight on "the last time I saw him" just indicates she has seen him more than once, reinforcing that they have developed something of a friendship, which we saw hints of with the instant rapport they developed when they first met.--Hylas 15:37, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Are they Roslin's sisters? -- Noneofyourbusiness 17:56, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
:Yes. They were first seen in the initial flashback (one was pregnant). This is clarified in a later scene in that flashback when police come to Laura's home to tell her that her sisters and father were killed by a drunk driver. --Spencerian 21:47, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
::Indeed. The captions confirm it. -- Noneofyourbusiness 18:43, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Dialogue slip?
In one of the flashback scenes I heard Baltar say "fuck" rather than "frak". I watched the episode online since I don't have cable -- so was it the same with the on-air version? Has anyone else noticed this?--Space Travel 08:26, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

The memorial hallway was created by the crew of Galactica to aid the survivors of humanity to find any loved ones who may have been rescued from the Cylon destruction of the Colonies and were lucky to find themselves on one of the many ships in the battlestar's care.

Five days after the Fleet's escape from Ragnar, Specialist Socinus and other crew are gathering a record of surviving colonists for the new Colonial government, but cannot upload photos to the database (or possibly to other ships) at that moment. When Anastasia Dualla offers her photos to Socinus, he suggests to leave the photo with his group or to place it outside in one of Galactica's hallways. Opting for the latter, Dualla encounters hundreds of photos, newspaper clippings, drawings, and other mementos of loved ones presumed lost or missing in the new Cylon war (33).

Despite the Fleet registry's completion, the memorial has remained and is periodically updated and visited by many as a personal shrine. Crewmembers and civilians can often been seen praying there, lighting candles and mourning the dead. With no possibility of visiting their dead in cemetaries, the Memorial Hallway serves as a cenotaph or "Yahrtzeit wall" for Colonials and their newly-mortal Cylon allies alike.

Louanne Katraine adds a picture of Reilly's girlfriend to the hallway in hopes that she will not be forgotten as quickly as the pilot (Scar). Over a year later, Kara Thrace adds Katraine's photo to the wall beneath Katraine's addition, after Katraine succumbs to radiation poisoning (The Passage). Following a promise made by Lee Adama to Kara Thrace prior to her death (Maelstrom), he places a photo of her on the wall, near Katraine's photo (The Son Also Rises).

Since joining the fleet, Rebel Cylons have also been witnessed placing images and pictures of fallen comrades on the memorial wall. Most notably on the wall are an image of Natalie, as well as images of two unnamed Eights, a Six and a Two. At least one of the images seems to be a Colonial Identification card. President Roslin and Admiral Adama's discovery of the Cylons' adoption of the practice cements their realization that the two societies' integration is a fait d'accompli irrespective of their own ambivalence.

In addition to the memorial hallway, the Viper pilots on Galactica have a special picture in their ready room that they touch as they exit as a memorial to other fallen comrades; a copy of the same photograph hangs on the bulkhead of President Roslin's office aboard Colonial One (33).

Notes
*The storyline of the Re-imagined Series was heavily influenced by the tone of the 2001 terrorist attacks in New York.
**In the early days of this event, fences and sign posts in the area around the site of the attacks were covered by pictures of missing people by the citizens to ask help in finding their loved ones. As the rescue attempts at "Ground Zero" turned into recovery efforts, these many signs became makeshift memorials. The Galactica memorial hallway was apparently intended as an poignant allegory to these tributes.
**The terrorist attacks not only influenced the series, but created delays that led to the premature demise of an earlier planned Battlestar Galactica continuation in preproduction that same year.
*Similar memorials are created after many large catastrophes in the world, such as the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
Overview
: After rediscovering The Fleet, Cylon Centurions board Galactica and wreak havoc, while Lee Adama and a rag-tag group of pilots and marines attempt to thwart the Cylon's methodical plans.

Summary
On Galactica
* After jumping successfully to the Fleet's location once rediscovering their actual location, Galacticas power systems shut down unexpectedly.
* After landing on Galactica, pilots Lee Adama, Kat, Hot Dog, and Flyboy walk through the corridors with flashlights. Flyboy stumbles into a Cylon Centurion, which kills him as the rest attempt to flee.
* As Hot Dog and Kat flee up a stairway, Adama attempts to kill the Cylon with his sidearm, but the bullets ricochet off the Centurion. A small group of marines destroy the Cylon from behind with an explosive round. Unfortunately, it was their last round, and only explosive rounds work against this heavily-armored version of Centurion.
* Laura Roslin convinces Corporal Venner that she must leave her cell and escape the brig before the Cylons find them. On Captain Adama's advice, Venner leads the group to the safest location on the ship, sickbay.
* Adama's group finds the storage locker on deck 12. Inside, they find Jammer (a member of Tyrol's repair crew) and only six explosive rounds.
* Lt. Felix Gaeta manages to warn the remainder of the Fleet to stay away from Galactica by wireless before the Cylons jam external communications.
*Gaeta notes a Cylon virus has infected some of the ship's isolated computers while they were networked; he has teams cleaning out the infection.
* Roslin's group find the bodies of some of Galacticas enlisted crew, massacred by the Cylons except for one survivor: a shell-shocked Anastasia Dualla. As Billy tries to snap Dualla out of her shock, Venner discovers that the Cylons have depressurised the route they had planned to take to sickbay. The group, now with Dualla, heads out along an alternative route that goes past Aft Damage Control.
* Tigh gets reports that some of the Cylons have been taken out by teams throughout the ship. He suspects that the Cylons are heading towards two sections of the ship -- one of which is Aft Damage Control -- in order to vent the ship's atmosphere. (After the ship is vented and the crew terminated, Tigh states that the Cylons would turn Galactica's guns on the Fleet.)
* Captain Adama contacts CIC, where Tigh orders him to stop the Cylons at Aft Damage Control and prevent the Cylons from overriding the venting safeguards.
* Captain Adama, Jammer, Kat, and two marines station themselves near the Aft Damage Control compartment. As they ready the defense against the advancing Cylons, Roslin's group hides in a nearby passageway to avoid being discovered, unaware of how close their group is to Adama's squad and the Cylons. The Cylons run down a hallway towards Aft Damage Control, but are distracted when Keikeya accidentally fires a round. The distraction places Roslin's group in danger but gives Adama and his team enough time to destroy the Cylon attackers.
*Having successfully destroyed the Cylons and with sufficient ship control restored, Doctor Cottle is summoned to Galactica. In sickbay, Roslin assures Lee Adama that Commander Adama will be fine, and she is taken back to the brig. Tigh tells Captain Adama that he is still shocked that he would side with the President instead of his own father, and that he is unfit to wear a Colonial uniform. Captain Adama agrees but tells Tigh that he isn't fit to wear the uniform either, deferring what will happen with both of them to his unconscious father once he returns to work.

On Caprica
*Karl "Helo" Agathon and Kara "Starbuck" Thrace discuss how the Cylons have a habit of fooling everyone.
*Thrace leads them to her old apartment in Delphi.
*Thrace reminisces about how she hated the apartment. While everyone has been trying to gain back what was lost after the Cylon attack, Thrace wasn't attached to her apartment. The only thing she did was to fight, because it's the only thing she knows.
*To Helo's surprise, Thrace's apartment is full of abstract paintings, including one with a curious circular symbol, a poem written next to the symbol, and tapes of piano music composed by her father. Unfortunately, there is no food.
*The two exhausted Colonials take a rest. Thrace dons an old military jacket.
*A short time later, Thrace searches the old jacket and finds a set of vehicle keys. "Tired of walking?" she says.
*Helo and Thrace leave driving her old army truck, with the Arrow of Apollo in possession.

On Kobol
*Gaius Baltar has a dream where William Adama drowns Baltar's daughter.
*When he wakes up, he is in Number Six's arms, surrounded by human skulls and bones. Six tells Baltar that they were victims of human sacrifice, and that the Scriptures were lies, fabricated to cover up how barbaric life on Kobol really was.
*When he returns to the others, Baltar is harangued by Crashdown.
*Chief Tyrol feels responsible for Tarn's death, but Cally snaps him out of his self-pity.
*The two return with the medkits, but it is too late to save Socinus' life. Telling him that he is going home, Tyrol reluctantly euthanizes him with an overdose of morpha.

Questions
*The remains Baltar and Six find cannot be thousands of years old; they would not have survived in the open. Did the Thirteenth Tribe leave Kobol recently? Do humans, at least until recently, still inhabit Kobol? Or were all the remains merely fabricated hallucinations by Six?
*Were the human skeletons real, or a hallucination created for Baltar by Six? If the skeletons were real, was Six lying when she said they were the result of human sacrifice (i.e. they could have been from the cataclysm that drove humanity off of Kobol)?
:When asked about this episode writer Bradley Thompson answered: "The question at the bottom of this is: "Who is Six?" In such cases, I'm not going to embellish what Ron & David have put on the screen."
*Why would later humans have felt it necessary to cover up the nature of civilization on Kobol? Is it related to the reason why Kobol was abandoned in the first place? How would the Cylons have found out? Did Six just make it up, or could it be the Cylon interpretation of the Scriptures?

Analysis
*The Centurions in this episode can only be destroyed by explosive rounds, which is a large plot element. However, in episodes before and after "Valley of Darkness", Centurions have been seen being destroyed by regular bullets. These Centurions might have heavier armor because they are being used for a boarding action and will see heavy fighting. When episode writer Bradley Thompson was asked about this by BattlestarWiki, he answered:
:"Centurions are constantly being upgraded - new ones come out with better armor, quieter servos, better battle software. Some are designed for different uses (the ones designed for submarine use have REALLY heavy armor but are exceptionally slow, and have reduced ammunition carrying capacity.) Not to mention that the Colonials have remarkably bright backyard engineers -- they've been hot-loading our small-arms rounds, coming up with better armor-piercing projectiles -- it's the constant ebb-and-flow of wartime technology."

*The Colonials use internal combustion engines (Starbuck's Humvee. Also previously seen in "Act of Contrition"). Assuming that it was the colonists that brought organic life along with them to the Twelve Colonies -- as Kobol's wildlife (birds and trees and such) is identical to Caprica's -- the engines may not burn fossil fuels, though, since the Kobol's refugees arrived on the Colonies only thousands of years rather than the millions of years it takes for fossil fuels to form. However, Kobol's life forms could also simply have replaced or supplemented less evolved or less strong life forms on the Colonial planets, as happened several times on Earth where non-indigenous life forms can wreak havoc on a local ecosystem. Or the local life forms may have died out through a catastrophic event. Both scenarios leave enough time for original life forms to be turned into fossil fuels.

Notes
*The title refers to the well-known Psalm 23 from the bible.
*The fleet population cited in the opening credits is 47,874. This is one less than the previous episode—prior to the opening credits, a Cylon kills Flyboy
*First episode without an appearance by Sharon Valerii (except in opening montage).
*Helo reveals to Starbuck that the Cylons recovered the bodies and brought them to cremation centers, hence the lack of bodies.
*Socinus, initially slated to die in early drafts of "Scattered", dies in this episode -- euthanised by Tyrol.
* Kate Vernon is listed as a guest star in the opening credits. However, her character, Ellen Tigh, never makes an appearance in this episode. She is only shown in the deleted scenes.
* The music that we hear in Kara Thrace's apartment and again during the closing act of the episode is Metamorphosis Five, composed by Philip Glass. It is from Glass's 1989 album Solo Piano.
*The fate of the Heavy Raider in the starboard bay is unknown. It's possible that, like Starbuck's captured Raider, they kept it for study. However, the crash may have damaged it beyond repair.
*In the German broadcast redubbing of Cally's now-infamous "Talk to me, you motherfrakker!" line, "motherfrakker" is replaced with "blöder arsch", which translates as "stupid ass". The real world equivalent of the curse word "motherfrakker" doesn't really exist in German, and a direct translation into German would have sounded particularly obscene, so the line was changed, and the joke is therefore somewhat lost in translation.
*The apartment complex used in this episode is later reused as the prison-apartment on New Caprica in which Leoben Conoy holds Starbuck captive at the start of the third season ("Occupation" through "Exodus, Part II").
*The sun painting on the wall in Starbuck's apartment is later revealed to be a representation of the Eye of Jupiter subconsciously painted by Starbuck.

Noteworthy Dialogue
* On the surface of Kobol, Chief Tyrol and Cally are on their way to rendezvous with the rest of the Raptor crash survivors:
:Cally: (exhausted from walking) What do you say we take five?
:(Chief Tyrol is still in a state of shock from having lost Tarn to a surprise attack by the Cylons and leans against a tree)
:Cally: How much further, do you think?
:(Chief Tyrol ignores her)
:Cally: Tarn getting shot...it wasn't your fault, you know that right?... Chief?
:(Chief Tyrol is silent)
:Cally: Talk to me, you motherfrakker!
:(Chief Tyrol turns around and looks at her strangely)
:Chief Tyrol: (laughing) Motherfrakker?
:Cally: Socinus better appreciate this.
:Chief Tyrol: He's probably lying in the sun, staring up at the birds like some Gods' damned emperor. He's an idiot.
:Cally: I hope he's okay... — VOD - motherfrakker.mp3

* Regarding "Sharon, the Cylon":
:Starbuck: (to Helo, sarcastically) Your girlfriend’s from a lovely family, good people, great values. — VOD - great family values.mp3

* In her apartment on Caprica, Starbuck and Helo stop to rest:
:Kara Thrace: (sitting on her couch) You know, I never really liked this place anyway. Air conditioning doesn't work in the summer. Heater doesn't work in the winter. The rent's a crime...(lights a cigarette)...After they attacked, I never pined over any of my old crap. Never missed it. Stupid view of the parking lot. Broken toilet in the bathroom...You know, everyone I know is fighting to get back what they had. I'm fighting because I don't know how to do anything else. — VOD - why people fight.mp3

*Speaking to Marines:
:Lee Adama: "Let’s go toaster shopping." — VOD - toaster shopping.mp3

* Chief Tyrol and Cally have rejoined the others on Kobol, and they find out that Socinus isn't going to survive much longer:
:Chief Tyrol: How's he doing?
:Selix: He's not going to make it.
:Chief Tyrol: What? What do you mean? What are you talking about? We got the medkit! Give him a shot! Give him another shot!
:Selix: It's too late.
:Chief Tyrol: What do you mean, it's too late? I got you the medkit! What else do you want? (looking stunned) So we...got the medicine you asked for...Tarn...and for what? For this? Come on! You have to do something. You have to do something!
:Selix: We can't change that he's going to die, Chief. It's going to be slow and painful, and we can spare him that if we give him the morpha from my kit and the one that you brought back.
:Chief Tyrol: What? No. (looks at Crashdown) LT..LT, come on!
 He's your man, Chief.
:Chief Tyrol: Give it to me. (takes morpha from Selix and leans down beside Socinus) Hey buddy. It's the Chief. How you doing?
:Socinus: (wheezing) What's going on?
:Chief Tyrol: Oh, you know...listening to the birds. I got you a little something for the pain. (injects morpha into Socinus) Good news, buddy. The recovery party's here. Raptors just landed. We're going to put you on one and take you back to Galactica, okay?
:Socinus: We're going home?
:Chief Tyrol: Yeah...(tears welling in his eyes)...we're going home.
:(Socinus passes away) — VOD_-_Socinus'_death.mp3

* In Galactica's sickbay:
:Colonel Tigh: I can't believe you sided with that woman against the old man. I wouldn't do that if you put a gun to my head...and you did! As far as I'm concerned, you're not fit to wear a uniform.
:Lee Adama: Huh. You're right about that part. I am not fit to wear the uniform...and maybe I never was. Then again, neither are you. But this isn't my ship, and it sure as hell isn't yours. (motions at Commander Adama) It's his, and when he wakes up, he'll decide what to do with the both of us. (Captain Adama leaves for the brig)
:Colonel Tigh: Thank the Gods I didn't have kids. — VOD - not fit to wear the uniform.mp3

* In Aft Damage Control, preparing to fight the Cylons:
:Lee Adama: Sometimes you got to roll a hard six.
:Jammer: What does that mean, sir?
:Lee Adama: Uh, I don't know. It's something my dad says. — VOD - roll the hard six.mp3
* "We've almost completed shooting the opening of Season Two, with Michael Rymer back at the helm filming a two-parter written by David Weddle & Bradley Thompson called 'Scattered' and 'Valley of Darkness.' Things have been going well so far, with a good mood on the set and a feeling of satisfaction and pride running through the whole team at their accomplishments in year one and anticipation for year two."

Once funding was secured, the official announcement for the series' launch was given on 10 February 2004. Moore, a majority of the production staff, as well as every principal cast member from the miniseries returned to work on the series. Moore also hired the show's writing staff, including Toni Graphia, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, and Carla Robinson, who mainly worked from the Rock Hudson Building at Universal's Hollywood lot.

Principal shooting on the first season was from 19 April to 15 September 2004, with each episode taking eight days to shoot. In an interesting twist, the so-called "American series" was first broadcast on a European network, Sky One, between 18 October 2004 to 24 January 2005. While the first American airdate for the season premiere "33" was on 14 January 2005, this meant that the only way Americans could watch the show was to resort to retrieving digitized versions of the episodes from file sharing programs. In response to this, Moore and Eick asked fans on SciFi.com's bulletin boards on 18 November 2004 to stop downloading the episodes and to wait to see the series when it first aired on Sci Fi Channel, claiming that downloading the series would adversely affect ratings and a second season renewal., so I knew I'd have to change that character. I also never understood why the Cylons were so intent on pursuing these humans across the galaxy, so I changed the background of the Cylons and their relationship with the human beings. Making the Cylons the creation of humanity enabled the Cylons to have a much more complicated love/hate relationship with humans, and also provided us with a way to use humanoid Cylons in the series, which was something we knew we wanted to do because there would be limits on how much we could use CGI Cylons.
: Athena didn't seem to serve any function in the original show other than look beautiful and be a love interest for Starbuck, so I just got rid of that character. And while I thought Boxey was part of the family and decided it would be nice to include him in some peripheral way, I never considered keeping Boxey's dog for a second. The dog was just absurd! it was right out from the moment I took the show.

* Moore discusses the religious aspects of the series:
: The religious aspects of the show developed naturally out of my intention to reflect every aspect of the human experience. I was delighted because I'm fascinated with this notion of monotheism versus polytheism, and I felt its addition to the show enriched it and helped make it unique.

* Moore discusses using the series as allegory to current events:

: The original "[[MemoryAlpha:Star Trek|[Star] Trek]]" series ... dealt with a lot of hot-button issues at the time: It dealt with racism, and it dealt with war, and it dealt with a lot of ideas that were very, very timely and very important. And this was a chance to make a science fiction show that wasn't purely escapist, but actually dealt with the world that we live in.
Since "Number Six" may be a nod to Prisoner, it may be that "Cally" is a nod to the eponymous telepath on "Blake's Seven," another tough-edged science fiction series. Below 16:26, 2 February 2006 (EST)
:No. I was unaware that Cally was a character name on Blake's 7, but Ron D. Moore stated in the DVD commentary for "Bastille Day" that he picked the names of Cally, Socinus, and Prosna from an internet "Random ancient name generator". I actually had that in my transcript of the DVD commentary. Someone saw fit to remove it. == Time for a Cally romance ==

She's been in the background for too long. I enjoyed her early development, but it's slacked off to where she just seemed bitter. Cally was a perky upbeat person with a creative streak, and the attack (as did all characters) changed her. Not that I want Cally to become the Whore of the Battlestar, but it would be fun for, say, her and Gaeta to strike a rapport (if not romantic as Gaeta can be a bigger stickler of regs, even with the need to make babies). There's plenty of enlisted; perhaps even she and the chief, Laird...others from Pegasus. I don't want her to become a lost character as Billy K had become. --Spencerian 13:41, 14 February 2006 (EST)

:Be careful what you wish for. All the people who were asking, "Where's Billy?" probably didn't like the answer they got in Sacrifice... --Steelviper 13:46, 14 February 2006 (EST)

::Spencerian, as I dutifully selected representative of the cult-following that Nicki "Cally" Clyne has amassed (me and some of the other regulars on the messageboard are obsessed with her: Solium and Nibblerfan made the fanart and run things, while I wrote up our "thesis" of why Cally is great (read it on the site); basically because I think she's the "Anti-Seven of Nine" and embodies many of the character traits postulated by Naturalistic science fiction, and in short, just like after so much Voyager and Enterprise, there was a backlash with the fans and we all left for BSG, after so much Seven of Nine and T'Pol, there was a backlash in favor of Cally. So it turned into a craze, and they kind of realized how popular she was, gave her more to do in season 2, etc.) Anyway, when you say "she's in the backround"...that's just these past few episodes. *****Watch the spoiler pics for "Lay Down Your Burdens", she's going to have ***BIG*** things happening, not to meantion, the Tyrol-Cally- Galactcia-Boomer triangle taking place. No, she does not "just seem bitter", I don't know what you're talking about. She was cool in FotP and Pegasus.
::I'm sorry, but it doesn't seem that you've been obsessing over her for as long and in depth as much as we have; Gaeta is just a random name to say; rather, we've narrowed it down to two possible relationships: 1) Chief Tyrol 2) Seelix: Cally saved her life, so it would be really logical for her to be friends with Cally. Heck, like Cally, Racetrack, Helo, etc. Seelix was supposed to be a one-shot character (without even a name) but they liked her so they brought her back for FotP.

::Further, this is totally incomparable to Billy. I already thought of Billy as an underused character by the early episodes of season 2, and I didn't really like him, while CALLY was just great!

::Cally is not underused. Dualla is more underused than Cally. I like Cally more than Dualla, she's gotten more meaningful development, I think Apollo/Dualla is the most poorly executed storyline the show has ever produced, and frankly, everyone posting on the messageboards has generally been saying "wow....Dualla is not well developed and annoying....and I wish they were talking about Cally"

::Things may have focused on other characters for the middle of Season 2.5, but I assure you Spencerian, this post is unwarranted, from the spoilers I've seen for the season finale; "all is proceeding according to PLAN!...."--The Merovingian 16:43, 14 February 2006 (EST)
:::Well, it's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. Out of respect, of course, I presume you're disagreeing with my comments and not the right to post. My post is quite warranted--I want to see more Cally. Anywho...Hopefully the "big" things at season's end don't involve her shooting anyone or getting shot. Dualla is getting a bit more screen time, but seems more like a damsel, which is a shame. I would like BSG to have an episode like Babylon 5's "A View from the Gallery," where we see some day-to-day events with our lesser but pet favorite characters, like Cally, Seelix, Tyrol, Gaeta, Kat, Hot Dog, and especially Racetrack (don't know what she does to me, but she does). And what's with the lazy talk formatting of your comments? Do I have to call the Mop Boy to come clean up again...? --Spencerian 18:53, 14 February 2006 (EST)

::::Several points:
::::1) By not means; of course I wasn't attacking your right to post this etc., I'm just debating the comments, etc.
::::2)....You refer to him as "The Boy", now?
::::3)That's a better way of putting my Dualla complaints: she has little characterization on her own; first she was defined mostly by her relationship with Billy, and now she's kind of just devolving into the "prize" of Apollo. I don't like where her character is degenerating. That said, I like the actress and she is more than capable of good stuff, I just think that Dualla's handling, case in point the Apollo/Dualla Dualla is meant as a reward for him thing, was one of the few wrong this with the show; it was kind of good in theory (when RDM talked about it in the Resistance and FotP podcasts, etc.), but the way it just sprung up now was just so poorly executed. I mean, just walking up to him in "Black Market" and going "hey, so we have a relationship, right?" (shudder); Sacrifice was better, but she was mostly damsel in distress, and further, her opennign dialog with Apollo "weren't that great" ("wow, that moment was...electric", etc. and "I can't quite figure You out Apollo"), again, my whole thing just being "wow, they never had a relationship before. This came about completely randomly, and they're acting as if it was some longstanding thing. The actors make a good job of it as best they can, but I really just want them to drop this relationship in season three"., etc.
::::4)Yes, I've alwas wanted another "View from the Gallery"/"Lower Decks" episode. Oh, Flight of the Phoenix was KIND OF like that, but I'd like more of it. Racetrack is also cool too. The reason I like Racetrack and also Duck is because they're such downers and pessimistic/pragmatic, i.e. like normal people. Sort of, you notice how on Star Trek often times even in really bad situations everyone tends to still be cheerful and optimistic? Well, logically, more of the pilots and civilians and regular people should be a little distraught at their situation. None too happy or perky, like Dr. Cottle, etc. Racetrack is indeed cool. I wish we'd finally have Helo in a Raptor again, paired with Racetrack etc.; not enough Raptor team stuff lately. But my pet project, "wishlist" episode, is like, TNG had "Data's Day" so why not "Cally's Day" or "Tyrol's Day", which focus entirely on like Tyrol (in which case Cally would be a main character), etc. etc. etc.
::::5) Giving Cally armor and Katanas etc. doesn't really work. The point of why Cally is cool (the Anti-Seven of Nine) is that she's not some cliche scifi female warrior, kick-ass Lara Croft type She has to use a rifle in early season 2, she's totally inexperienced, distraught and out of her element. Shooting Galactica-Boomer did really seem in character and GREAT though, as she cares about the Chief and would hate her for hurting him. I must say, it was one of those PERFECT tv moments where you go "I had NO IDEA that was going to happen....yet it was entirely logical, and I SHOULD HAVE seen it coming"....like when Cardassia joined the Dominion in Deep Space Nine, I was totally shocked, but realized that it was so logical, I should have seen it coming but didn't. --The Merovingian 19:14, 14 February 2006 (EST)
::::I agree with the implication of them being married. However, that doesn't mean Cally will be taking Galen Tyrol's last name unless they say so. There are a lot of married couples nowadays that don't follow the "Western" tradition of the wife taking the husband's last name. With confirmation that Cally is married, we face a little problem in that this article uses the character's first name throughout, instead of the last name per convention. I'm OK on it because of the limited data we had to date, but we should consider the need to conventionize this article. --Spencerian 11:17, 15 September 2006 (CDT)
