== Analysis ==
*The [[Tauron]] Funeral Rite as seen in this episode mirrors the Ancient Greek rite of placing a coin on the head of the dead for the Charon, the ferryman who took the souls of the dead across the Rivers Styx and Acheron to Hades (The Underworld). In Ancient Greece it was two coins for each person to be placed on each eye; however, in the case of the Tauron rite it was a single coin each. The ceremony also differs in that it involved the Tauron custom of applying tattooes.
== The dying leader ==
Roslin is clearly the most likely candidate, however I think that Thrace has enough supporting evidence to warrent a mention. She played a major role in guiding the fleet to Earth, she may have died in Maelstrom, and as CAG, she was a leader. The main problem is that She doesn't have a literal wasting disease, however her obsessive and self-destructive tendancies are arguably a metaphorical wasting disease. -- [[User:Gordon Ecker|Gordon Ecker]] 22:55, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
:A interesting thought. Also, if Roslin is still the dying leader <i>(waves hand in Jedi mind trick)</i>, this may not be the Earth they're looking for. I'm still betting on Roslin, given what was seen. But, yes, "leader" is quite vague. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 16:44, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
==Verb Tense for Zak Stuff==
I reviewed the standards and conventions page, and it seems like the Zak Adama stuff really deserved the past tense since it occured "prior to the Mini-Series". The example in the second paragraph references Zak's funeral, which seems to be a pretty fitting example to apply here. So does all the pre-mini-series go to past tense, or are we going to 100% present tense (in which case we'd probably need to change the standards and conventions page). --[[User:Steelviper|Steelviper]] 17:28, 18 January 2006 (EST)

: We can change the standards if we want (I mean--''we''wrote tham, after all), but I think it makes sense... As I was editing that, I was already getting confused about tenses and such, and I only really touched the one paragraph. ==Paging Dr. Freud==

In the miniseries, Thrace doesn't tell Adama she doesn't ''have'' a big enough dipstick for his job, but that ''she's'' not a big enough dipstick. It's one line, but this is an unintentionally funny rendering of the quote... if you consider all the folks who were against Starbuck being a girl... [[User:Below|Below]] 16:20, 2 February 2006 (EST)
:Thrace has authority issues when crossed, yes. Not as cavalier about it as the original Starbuck, but then, this is a darker world. When compelled to, however, Thrace can obviously manage the work, even excel. She's still second CAG, now that Adama has returned to that status, and can effectively lead an attack as CAGs do, title or no. Thrace does have the "dipstick"; but she HATES having to deal with mentalities like Tigh. But she hates being out of the pilot's seat more, which gives her a greater sense of control than anything. I'd have Thrace plan any attack, anytime. And, in keeping with the dipstick metaphor, you can always expect her to be on top in almost anything she does. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 09:08, 3 February 2006 (EST)
Grin. I was thinking that an additional dimension to her authority issues was seen in the last few episodes. I think it would be interesting to integrate into this article if possible, but tonight's episode might have some more to say first. We know she had an abusive mother who served in the military, and identifies with her father. The Admiral is a positive father figure to her, but she's disgusted by Tigh, especially his drinking. (Was alcohol her mother's personal tinderbox?)
Enter Cain. On the one hand, Cain identifies with Thrace and gives her positive reinforcement: eg Do you always get what you want, I usually do. In my viewing, Sackhoff plays it as being both nervous and touched by Cain's approval. (Her mother had said she'd never account to anything: here's a much higher ranking woman claiming that she's capable of greatness.) Pretty clear that Cain wants to mentor Thrace, and sees a "younger self" in the pilot. At the same time, it's not a stretch to parallel the violent, volatile Cain with Thrace's absent, abusive mother. (Michelle Forbes would be a really interesting Medea.)
So Kara is being asked to choose between father figure Adama and mother figure Cain, and shooting Cain may feel like a kind of matricide.
Usually when TV shows or movies set up a young character against "two parents," one good, one bad, it's a young man torn between two fathers or father figures (witness "A Bronx Tale," "Platoon," "Star Wars", many others), so it's interesting to see that dynamic with a young woman. One more reason I love watching this show. [[User:Below|Below]] 11:18, 3 February 2006 (EST)

:Oh yes; for the past few weeks I've been repeatedly asking on the official site's RDM blog thread if they ''intentionally'' wrote it that Starbuck was won over by Cain because it was like her mother giving her the recognition that she never got. Of course, I ask a lot of things there....(I was annoyed when in his recent blog update yesterday A) people sometimes ask questions he's already answered many months ago (like, "Where is Boxey" and "Why don't we see the engine room?"), so B) he didn't realize this (I don't blame him, he's got a lot of work to do) so he wasted a blog entry answering questions that were already answered....except one, btw; apparently, the Presidential election is coming up soon. Probably not by the season 2 finale, obviously, but I got the impression he's playing around with script stuff for it now, and who knows? It might be the season 3 cliffhanger...or at most the season 3 finale. This, of course, would prove that they have indeed jumped several months ahead (once again, how could 2 months pass during Flight of the Phoenix?...but I digress....). --[[User:Ricimer|Ricimer]] 11:46, 3 February 2006 (EST)

:: How, you ask? Easily. See, all that we saw on the show was actually in ''fast forward''... See, for that month, Bill had decided that everyone was to do everything at ''one sixth'' of normal speed... Thus, all that took two months. ::Negative, Lieutenant. Kat said to Kara, "The CAG wants us spread out so we can cover more ground. It's right here in the briefings." I'm pretty sure that's accurate, anyway. Someone check me. Anyway, I thought it was clear she was talking about Lee. Now... Why was she doing all the briefings? I have no idea... I thought for a bit that maybe Lee was on ''Pegasus'' doing some kind of fleet-wide-CAG duties, but ''Peggie'' was off protecting the Fleet, so he'd probably not be jumping back and forth to almost have sex with Kara and all that. --[[User:Day|Day]] 02:56, 4 February 2006 (EST)
=='''Kara Thrace DEAD?'''==
Now I'm disappointed in Battlestar Galactica. Starbuck was killed off Sunday night or at least we are led to believe she is dead. I like to think there is more to this than what was shown.--[[User:Avazina|Avazina]] 20:21, 6 March 2007 (CST)
:She is definitely dead, but that means nothing in fiction. You're probably right. Don't feel too disappointed; the classical heroes of Greek mythology suffered and died often to fulfill their missions. We're very used to our western heroes always riding off into the sunset to fight another day. Some day the sun will no longer rise. There was a bit in the episode that suggests that Kara is visiting the space between life and death; we'll see. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 20:47, 6 March 2007 (CST)
::Don't worry, she's merely ascended to another plane of existence. She'll be back next season as an Ancient. I mean, Final Five. Wow, deja vu Atlantis. --[[User:David Templar|David Templar]] 12:49, 7 March 2007 (CST)
:::There's two reasons I'm not accepting her as dead. First, there was heavy foreshadowing in Rapture and Maelstrom hinting that she may be a Cylon. Second, she did not die the way the hero with an important destiny is supposed to. If she died in Resurrection Ship, Scar or The Passage I'd accept it. If she got captured by the Cylons and died trying to escape I'd accept it. If she got captured by the Cylons, decided she had no hope of escape or rescue and killed herself in a final act of defiance against Leoben I'd accept it. I won't accept this until the final five are revealed. -- [[User:Gordon Ecker|Gordon Ecker]] 17:19, 7 March 2007 (CST)
One possibility is that Thrace (in a past life as the Lord of Kobol, Aurora) helped ''build'' the Temple of Five, knew what the Earth hologram was in "Home, Part II" because she experienced it before, and that, while we may not see her again, bodily, Thrace will be the guiding force (through artifacts and other finds) that will be reflected in not-too-subtle messages on the path, leaving clues as to the clue's author (Thrace). Perhaps Kara Thrace, not Laura Roslin, is the "dying leader" in the Pythian Prophecy. Just a wild speculation, but it fits with some clues, particularly the Eye. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 07:40, 13 March 2007 (CDT)
---Bruzer you know part of my theory but for everyone here I'll post it as well. I personaly belive it will come down to Starbuck being a "Jesus" figure from a Lord of Kobol I'm not 100% sure how the writers will make this happen but I think what we saw in that ep was her basically going to meet "daddy". The speculation about her being one of the final 5 isn't true, she is meant for much more then that. I also think in addition to the final 5 we will see the Lords of Kobol on Sunday, this will be the biggest shock of the year as well. You know how the writers like to take us, make us expect to be surprised one way but shock us with something new in the finales. We may even see Baltar be found not guilty, on a side note I think he's the same as Starbuck here but his "daddy" is who I will call Hades, the Fallen Lord who became the Cylon god. --[[User:Hentai Jeff|Hentai Jeff]] 05:49, 21 March 2007 (CDT)
== By Your Command ==
While visiting [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maelstrom_%28Battlestar_Galactica%29 Wikipedia's article about Maelstrom], I noticed a neat trivia piece that I have confirmed independently. Right before Kara's Viper explodes at the climax of "[[Maelstrom]]", if one listens closely (on a DD 5.1 system or with headphones, if one has the iTunes download), one can hear the distinctive voice of an original series (or Guardian, as per the events of "[[Razor]]") Cylon Centurion say "By your command" (the word "command" is muffled by the explosion). At first I thought it was some sound effect used to illustrate the stress of the gas giant's atmosphere on Kara's Viper, but the words "By your" are clearly discernable. I'm not sure if this is something for placement in either the Maelstrom or Kara Thrace articles, so I will leave this up to y'all's better judgment. Thank you. {{unsigned|Jonfucius}}
: I've seen this discussion on the Skiffy boards after the episode aired... Frankly, I never heard it myself, even when this discussion first started way back when... ::I have a casual (at best) sound setup and my VCR seems so to be setting foot with its last legs and threading a warbling in the audio, but I played this and I can ceratinly hear an old school Cylon metallic noise as the Viper explodes, so I'm willing to believe this, but I'd prefer to hear a sample with a better audible pitch. --[[User:Mars|Mars]] 16:26, 5 December 2007 (CST)
==Season 3 - last episode==
Regarding the last part of the article there is a point that says that when Kara re-appears near Lee's viper she's riding a brand new Viper Mark II. Cause i read the wiki just after i saw the episode i think this is totally wrong imho. I have saved a screenshot , just at the moment camera seems to go away from both ships http://picasaweb.google.com/billbrando and you can clearly see the differences at the engine part and at the wings structure. If Lee is indeed flying a Viper Mark II what is Kara riding? {{unsigned|Bbm4n}}
:The point is that the Viper has a pristine paintjob and isn't scratched up like all the others (though that's only said in [[The Destiny]] and [[Ionian Nebula]] I think). Of course Lee is in a Mark VII. The article doesn't say anything else. -- [[User:Serenity|Serenity]] 11:36, 28 January 2008 (CST)
so if i get it right from the images, the red lined Viper (Mark II) is the one that is piloted by Kara and the unpainted one is a Viper Mark VII piloted by Apollo. ::Not necessarily from ''Pegasus''; ''Galactica'' did retain a few Mark VIIs after the Cylon attack, although they had to be downgraded to avoid the [[CNP]] backdoor. --[[User:Catrope|Catrope]]([[User talk:Catrope|Talk to me]] or [[Special:Emailuser/Catrope|e-mail me]]) 15:50, 28 January 2008 (CST)
He serves as [[Margaret Edmonson|Margaret "Racetrack" Edmonson]]'s co-pilot during the rescue mission for the [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] [[Caprica Resistance|resistance]]. When their Raptor misses their jump, they discover a habitable planet which is later dubbed [[New Caprica]]. After returning to the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]], McCall and Edmondson are commended for the accidental discovery ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I]]).

Over a year later, during the planet's occupation by the Cylons, McCall is Edmonson's ECO during their missions to detect communications from New Caprica's [[New Caprica Resistance|resistance movement]], in which they are eventually successful ([[Occupation]]).

On a routine patrol around the Fleet, his Raptor suffers from an engine and [[RCS]] malfunction, due to impurities in its [[tylium]] fuel. Unable to regain control and on a collision course with ''[[Colonial One]]'', he and Edmonson are forced to eject from the Raptor. The craft collides with ''Colonial One'', causing moderate hull damage and several injuries, but no fatalities ([[Dirty Hands]]).

McCall is one of the pilots who helps pull the body of [[Alan Hughes]] out of the Raptor after a bomb placed by [[Aaron Kelly]] explodes under his seat ([[The Son Also Rises]]).

As the Fleet approaches the [[Ionian nebula]], Edmonson and McCall are tasked to stay one jump point behind the Fleet to keep watch for possible Cylon pursuers. The two pass their time with playing [[Triad (RDM)|Triad]] and Edmonson teases him about being a "ladies man" who masturbates in his bunk. When a Cylon fleet shows up they barely manage to spin up the FTL drive and escape before being destroyed by a missile ([[Crossroads, Part I]]).

In another dangerous Raptor incident, Edmonson and McCall are forced to make an emergency landing that nearly results in their deaths, due to a failed repair job made by [[Galen Tyrol]]. While McCall is extremely angry over this, Edmonson soothes the tension between McCall and Tyrol by writing it off as a mistake, which she attributes to Tyrol's mourning of the recently deceased [[Cally Tyrol]] ([[Escape Velocity]]).

He was a member of [[Felix Gaeta|Gaeta's]] mutiny and was shot non-fatally by [[Kara Thrace]]. ([[The Oath]])

'''Peter Laird''' is a civilian aeronautical engineer pressed into service by order of Admiral [[Helena Cain]] after the [[Cylon attack]] on the Twelve Colonies. He is aboard the civilian transport ''[[Scylla]]'' when it, along with several other vessels, is found by the battlestar ''[[Pegasus]]'' about a week after the attack. Admiral Cain places military priorities above all else and orders that the ships be scavenged for anything that would be of use to ''Pegasus'': supplies, weapons, parts and skilled civilian personnel. Laird, because his aeronautics background, becomes a selectee for conscription into ''Pegasus's'' crew along with 14 other people on board.

Colonel [[Jack Fisk|Fisk]] and Lieutenant [[Kendra Shaw|Shaw]] take a team of Marines to the ''Scylla'' to carry out the order. Laird speaks as the passengers' representative and refuses to cooperate. When Fisk's show of intimidation fails to persuade the civilians, Cain orders that the selectees' families be shot to demonstrate the alternative. Fisk continues his threat to shoot them, but Shaw takes the initiative and shoots one woman in the head, triggering the Marines to kill nine more. Word spreads throughout the civilian vessels and breaks all resistance, and Laird and the others are transfered to ''Pegasus''. Laird's wife and family are likely among the dead, if not left behind ([[Razor]]).

He is put into uniform and assigned deck chief. When he pays ''[[Galactica]]'' a visit, he meets his counterpart, Chief [[Galen Tyrol|Tyrol]]. Laird is both appalled and impressed by the [[Blackbird]], Tyrol's new stealth fighter, and is surprised to find the plane is fitted with obsolete [[DDG-62]] engines he designed ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]).

Laird is transferred to ''Galactica'' as part of Admiral Cain's crew reassignments, and is made deck chief prior to Tyrol's arrest for Lt. [[Thorne|Thorne's]] death <ref>In the regular "Pegasus" episode, it seems like Laird replaces Tyrol ''after'' his arrest. However, the extended cut places it before Lt. Thorne's death as part of the crew integration.</ref>. He also makes a suggestion to ''Galactica'''s deck crew that increases the Blackbird's fuel efficiency by two percent ([[Pegasus (Extended Version)]]).

Laird has difficulty managing the hangar deck as Tyrol's substitute and lacks military bearing, but assures Commander Adama that all ships will be ready for "the [[Attack on the Resurrection Ship|attack thing]]" ([[Resurrection Ship, Part I]]).

Following Admiral Cain's death, her crew transfers are reversed and Tyrol is re-instated as ''Galactica'''s deck chief. Laird presumably returns to his previous assignment as the ''Pegasus'' deck chief ([[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]).

Over two years later, Laird is promoted to ''Galactica''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> chief of the deck after [[Escape Velocity|Tyrol's demotion]] by Admiral Adama; he retrieves the navigational data from [[Eammon Pike]]'s damaged [[Raptor]] that tells them [[Sector Delta 9|where]] the rebel baseship jumped to ([[Sine Qua Non]]).

==Notes==
*Ron D. Moore said in his [[Podcast:Pegasus#Act 2|podcast]] that he was tempted to give Laird a Scottish accent as a tribute to [[Wikipedia:James Doohan|James Doohan]] (''Star Trek'''s [[MemoryAlpha:Montgomery Scott|Montgomery Scott]]) at his recent death at the time of the episode's filming, but reluctantly decided against it.
== No evidence that Zarek convinced Baltar to run for prez ==

I know of no evidence in the show that supports the following statement:

"...Zarek decides not to run against her because he realizes he probably won't win the election...but he decides that there's someone else that might be able to unseat Roslin, vice president Gaius Baltar. Zarek manages to talk vice president Gauis Baltar into running in his place..."

As far as the scenes actually broadcast in the show are concerned, Baltar makes his decision to run for the presidency entirely on his own, probably on the spur of the moment at Roslin's press conference, and never with any prior consultation with Zarek. It is not the case that Zarek "manages to talk" Baltar into "running in his place..." The above statement imagines more contrivance on Zarek's part than is supported by the facts.--Elach

:No, Zarek encourages Baltar to run for president in The Captain's Hand: Baltar hadn't even considered it seriously before Zarek brought it up. --[[User:The Merovingian|The Merovingian]] ([[Special:Contributions/The Merovingian|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/The Merovingian|E]]) 22:06, 12 July 2006 (CDT)

No, you are wrong. I have reviewed the scenes in question and there is no indication that Zarek has convinced Baltar to run at the end of their scene together in The Captain's Hand. It is ambiguous, at the very least. Zarek may have opened his eyes to the possibility of running and winning, but there is no definitive indication that Baltar WILL INDEED run at the end of their conversation together. You are making unwarranted assumptions. I could just as easily argue that Six convinced Baltar to run since her image appears to him at the exact moment he appears to decide to make the announcement of his candidacy. She has many times previously pushed him to ascend to the presidency, and that interpretation is equally logical and supportable. I believe you are overstepping the bounds of reporting into the area of excessive interpretation. ----Elach 23:06, 12 July 2006 (PDT)
:Going to have to agree to the above statements pertaining to the scene evidence. --[[User:Shane|Shane]] ([[User_Talk:Shane|T]] - [[Special:Contributions/Shane|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/Shane|E]]) 01:18, 13 July 2006 (CDT)
::One could interpret Baltar's subtle encouragement of Roslin's abortion ban as an attempt to manipulate her into a position wherein he could run against her. I know that's how I saw it. I don't think Zarek convinced Baltar right at the start to run, but I believe that, after some thought, Baltar made up his mind. --[[User:Slander|Slander]] 10:08, 27 October 2006 (CDT)
He was born some time between the end of "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]" (c. day 680) and "[[Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance#Episode 1|Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance, Part I]]" (c. day 727), and is [[Dedication ceremony|dedicated]] to the service of [[Ares]] and [[Apollo, Lord of Kobol|Apollo]] ([[Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance#Episode 10|Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance, Part X]]).

Chief Tyrol tells [[Sharon Agathon]] that Nicholas is named after [[Cally Tyrol (grandfather of)|Cally's grandfather]] ([[Exodus, Part I]]).

When Cally finds out that her husband is a Cylon, she attempts to kill herself and her son. However, [[Tory Foster]], under the guise of dissuading her from her actions, takes Nicholas into her arms, only to [[Airlock|space]] Cally herself ([[The Ties That Bind]]).

== Notes ==
*Nicholas Tyrol was named after producer [[David Weddle]]'s maternal grandfather.<ref>{{cite companion|season=3|page=36}}</ref>
*He was originally thought to be a Cylon/human hybrid<ref>{{cite_rdm_podcast|episode=Frak Party Q and A|act=|id=hybridnick|timestamp=22:41|totalrunning=78:27}}</ref>, because his father Galen Tyrol is a Cylon ([[Crossroads, Part II]]). Doc Cottle later revealed that Galen Tyrol was not the biological father.

Colonel '''Tigh''' is the executive officer (XO) of the [[Battlestar (TOS)|battlestar]] ''Galactica'' and is a close personal friend of Commander [[Adama (TOS)|Adama]]. Tigh has a no-nonsense demeanor that assures that that the day-to-day operations and efficiency of his battlestar remain consistent. His friendship with Adama allows Tigh the ability to speak frankly in matters of protocol and defense. A former pilot himself, Tigh is stricter on the younger [[Colonial Warrior]]'s behavior as he is all too aware of their importance as well as their tendencies (and need) to become rowdy.

== Biography ==

In his younger days, Tigh flew a [[Viper (TOS)|Viper]] with Adama ([[Saga of a Star World]]).

[[Image:TighPartyLost1.jpg|thumb|left|Tigh orders the party to be in full swing ([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I]]).]]

Despite his reputation for being strict regarding regulations and discipline, Tigh reveals a lighter side when he covers for [[Greenbean]] in front of [[Council Security]]. After security leaves, Tigh light-heartedly reprimands Greenbean, before ordering that [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]]'s bachelor party be in full swing when he and [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]] return from their patrol. Colonel Tigh is more of a sceptic than Adama, and is quite concerned when Adama orders [[The Fleet (TOS)|the Fleet]] to head into the [[magnetic void]] ([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I]]).

When [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylon]] [[Raider (TOS)|Raiders]] attack while Adama is on [[Kobol (TOS)|Kobol]], Colonel Tigh commands ''Galactica'' in his absence. Tigh is surprised when the previously ill pilots report for duty during [[Battle of Kobol (TOS)|the battle]]. He points out that they are barely able to stand, to which [[Boomer (TOS)|Boomer]] replies that it is fortunate that the Viper is flown in the seated position ([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part II]]).

When Adama is reluctant to send out a patrol to search for the lost Apollo, Tigh is able to convince him otherwise. Boomer and Starbuck are already waiting in the [[launch tubes (TOS)|launch tubes]], and successfully find Apollo and guide him back to ''Galactica'' without attracting the attention of the Cylons ([[The Lost Warrior]]).

Adama volunteers Colonel Tigh to help him cover [[Athena (TOS)|Athena]]'s shift in [[Core Command]] so that she can go on a date aboard the [[Rising Star (TOS)|''Rising Star'']] ([[The Long Patrol]]).

On Colonel Tigh's suggestion, Adama orders the Fleet to maximum speed (rather than moving at the speed of the slowest ship) as they neared the [[Ravashol pulsar]]. They hoped to make the ships of the fleet more difficult targets by increasing the spacing between the ships, and reduce the collateral damage inflicted should one of the ships take a hit from the pulsar. Fortunately the pulsar is destroyed before the Fleet gets into range ([[The Gun on Ice Planet Zero, Part II]]).

After Cylon Raiders destroy two of the three [[Agro Ship]]s, Colonel Tigh personally inspects the [[Agro Ship 9|only one that survives]]. He learns that the fleet's entire crop supply has been destroyed in the attack and that the fleet's supply of seed has been exhausted and must be somehow replenished. This prompts Adama's mission to [[Sectar (planet)|Sectar]] to trade an [[energizer]] for the needed seed ([[The Magnificent Warriors]]).

Picking up a great deal of civilian Cylon radio traffic, Tigh reports that a large concentration of Cylons are nearby. Adama orders the Fleet to a halt, awaiting word from the recon patrol. Before the patrol can return, Colonel Tigh reports a large contact approaching. It appears to be a battlestar, and a communication comes in on Fleet Com-Line Alpha (which is only used between Colonial warships). Adama believes the message to be a hoax, as they are the last remaining Colonial war ship. Adama is delighted to learn that the message is from [[Cain (TOS)|Commander Cain]], and the sensor contact is [[Pegasus (TOS)|''Pegasus'']].

The honeymoon does not last long, however. Adama is forced to relieve Cain of command of ''Pegasus'' when he refuses to redistribute fuel from his ship to the other ships in the Fleet. Adama appoints Tigh to take command of ''Pegasus''. Tigh takes his place on the bridge of ''Pegasus'', and insists on beginning the fuel transfer over [[Tolan]]'s objections. Before any transfer can take place, though, Cylon Raiders attack. Cain has his command returned to him, and the crew of ''Pegasus'' cheers when they hear the news. Tolan asks Tigh not to take the cheers personally. Tigh understands and asks, "How can you fight a living legend?" Colonel Tigh resumes his role as executive officer aboard ''Galactica'' ([[The Living Legend, Part I]]).

As a Cylon attack approaches, Adama and Tigh begin to realize that the Cylons are attacking in force. They order the ship's compartments to be sealed, to prevent a hull breach. All squadrons are launched to defend ''Galactica''. The Raiders are not fighting back, and two manage to slip through. One is destroyed near the bridge. Despite closing the blast shield the bridge sustains heavy damage, and Adama is critically wounded. Tigh orders Omega to call for [[Salik|Dr. Salik]] to take care of Adama, and assumes command. The other Raider explodes against the port [[landing bay]], causing explosions fires throughout the ship. Tigh realizes that the Raiders were likely packed with [[Solonite]] or some other high explosive, in order for them to have exploded with such force. The explosions have damaged the ship's automated firefighting systems. A plan to extinguish the fires using Vipers firing [[boroton]] fails. Tigh puts [[mushies]] near the air ducts in hopes of helping [[Muffit]] find them. Muffit appears out of the Core Command air ducts, and they attach a note and some lifemasks to him so that he can ferry them back to the trapped survivors in the [[rejuvenation center]]. Muffit completes his task, delivering the lifemasks and the note. The fire is successfully extinguished by Apollo and Starbuck, and Adama recovers from his successful surgery ([[Fire in Space]]).

[[Image:TighCelestra.jpg|thumb|right|Commander Kronus berates Colonel Tigh for drinking before going on duty ([[Take the Celestra]]).]]

After a hard-fought game of [[Triad (TOS)|Triad]], Apollo, Boomer, and Starbuck are informed by Colonel Tigh of an emergency meeting in the war room. [[Bojay]]'s patrol has gone missing. The warriors are deployed to investigate, but Tigh doesn't like the looks of the seismic readings, and is afraid Bojay's patrol has crashed. The patrol discovers the wreckage of a ship, and returns with [[Iblis|Count Iblis]]. Colonel Tigh is immediately suspicious of Iblis. Tigh later informs Adama that Iblis had visited Core Command, and Adama is furious. Tigh is in Core Command with Adama when the [[Ship of Lights|mysterious lights]] begin appearing around the Fleet ([[War of the Gods, Part I]]).

Colonel Tigh presents [[Kronus|Commander Kronus]] with the [[Star of Kobol]] during an award ceremony, while Adama gives the speech. At the reception afterwards, Commander Kronus berates Colonel Tigh for drinking before going on duty. Tigh accepts the criticism, and respectfully leaves the reception early to get to his work. Later in Core Command, Starbuck requests permission to take his Viper aboard the ''[[Celestra]]'' under the pretense of a "maintenance scan" of his Viper's electronics. Tigh isn't convinced, but grants permission to the warrior. He also informs [[Cassiopeia]], who reclaims the concert tickets from Starbuck in the Viper bay ([[Take the Celestra]]).

Command Adama and Colonel Tigh are alerted by Apollo, Starbuck, Cassiopeia, and Sheba of the [[Gamma frequency]] signal they receive in the [[Celestial chamber]]. A Viper patrol is launched to investigate, and discovers a Cylon [[Basestar (TOS)|basestar]]. Adama is tired of running, and wants to launch an assault against the basestar, in a bid to escape the Galaxy without Cylon pursuit. Colonel Tigh briefs the Viper pilots on the capabilities of the basestar, painting a grim picture of the situation. The [[Battle at Galaxy's Edge|attack]] is successful, and ''Galactica'' escapes the galaxy, hoping to find [[Earth (TOS)|Earth]] ([[The Hand of God (TOS)|The Hand of God]]).

== Notes ==

* [[Terry Carter]] was originally a candidate for the role of [[Boomer (TOS)|Boomer]].

* Tigh does not appear in the [[spin-off]] series, ''[[Galactica 1980]]''. The fate of his character is not disclosed.

* The character appears as President of the Twelve Colonies in [[Richard Hatch]]'s [[continuation]] effort, ''[[Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming]]'' and Hatch's [[separate continuity]] ''Battlestar Galactica'' novels.

* Tigh is one of only five characters in the Original Series to be featured in every episode.
Canada's broadcasts for the last ten episodes of season for resume at the same time that the US does: http://forums.spacecast.com/forums/thread/370361.aspx This means that 4.11 is broadcast 10PM eastern 16 January 2009 on Space: The Imagination Station, can we get the front page updated please?
-- [[User:Xdroop|Xdroop]] 18:00, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
:Thanks, Xdroop. Not to slight Canadians, but because of space and format limits as well as the "home port" of Battlestar Wiki (the US), we show the US air times there on the Main Page. On the episode guides, the air date for the UK is also shown, but because we'd be doing that for every nation, we limit it at that. Good that you don't have to wait like the Brits to see BSG (they normally have 1-3 months delay!) --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 00:52, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
