*The [[Tauron]] Funeral Rite as seen in this episode mirrors the Ancient Greek rite of placing a coin on the head of the dead for the Charon, the ferryman who took the souls of the dead across the Rivers Styx and Acheron to Hades (The Underworld). In Ancient Greece it was two coins for each person to be placed on each eye; however, in the case of the Tauron rite it was a single coin each. The ceremony also differs in that it involved the Tauron custom of applying tattooes.

Roslin is clearly the most likely candidate, however I think that Thrace has enough supporting evidence to warrent a mention. She played a major role in guiding the fleet to Earth, she may have died in Maelstrom, and as CAG, she was a leader. As far as you actually see in the episode 'The Farm' there is only one new abdominal scar on Starbuck. This would suggest that only one of her ovaries has been removed, not two. The podcast may have more precise information, however.

I reviewed the standards and conventions page, and it seems like the Zak Adama stuff really deserved the past tense since it occured "prior to the Mini-Series". The example in the second paragraph references Zak's funeral, which seems to be a pretty fitting example to apply here. :Thrace has authority issues when crossed, yes. Not as cavalier about it as the original Starbuck, but then, this is a darker world. When compelled to, however, Thrace can obviously manage the work, even excel. She's still second CAG, now that Adama has returned to that status, and can effectively lead an attack as CAGs do, title or no. Thrace does have the "dipstick"; but she HATES having to deal with mentalities like Tigh. But she hates being out of the pilot's seat more, which gives her a greater sense of control than anything. I'd have Thrace plan any attack, anytime. Grin. I was thinking that an additional dimension to her authority issues was seen in the last few episodes. I think it would be interesting to integrate into this article if possible, but tonight's episode might have some more to say first. We know she had an abusive mother who served in the military, and identifies with her father. The Admiral is a positive father figure to her, but she's disgusted by Tigh, especially his drinking. (Was alcohol her mother's personal tinderbox?)
Enter Cain. On the one hand, Cain identifies with Thrace and gives her positive reinforcement: eg Do you always get what you want, I usually do. In my viewing, Sackhoff plays it as being both nervous and touched by Cain's approval. (Her mother had said she'd never account to anything: here's a much higher ranking woman claiming that she's capable of greatness.) Pretty clear that Cain wants to mentor Thrace, and sees a "younger self" in the pilot. At the same time, it's not a stretch to parallel the violent, volatile Cain with Thrace's absent, abusive mother. (Michelle Forbes would be a really interesting Medea.)
So Kara is being asked to choose between father figure Adama and mother figure Cain, and shooting Cain may feel like a kind of matricide.
Usually when TV shows or movies set up a young character against "two parents," one good, one bad, it's a young man torn between two fathers or father figures (witness "A Bronx Tale," "Platoon," "Star Wars", many others), so it's interesting to see that dynamic with a young woman. One possibility is that Thrace (in a past life as the Lord of Kobol, Aurora) helped ''build'' the Temple of Five, knew what the Earth hologram was in "Home, Part II" because she experienced it before, and that, while we may not see her again, bodily, Thrace will be the guiding force (through artifacts and other finds) that will be reflected in not-too-subtle messages on the path, leaving clues as to the clue's author (Thrace). Perhaps Kara Thrace, not Laura Roslin, is the "dying leader" in the Pythian Prophecy. ---Bruzer you know part of my theory but for everyone here I'll post it as well. I personaly belive it will come down to Starbuck being a "Jesus" figure from a Lord of Kobol I'm not 100% sure how the writers will make this happen but I think what we saw in that ep was her basically going to meet "daddy". The speculation about her being one of the final 5 isn't true, she is meant for much more then that. I also think in addition to the final 5 we will see the Lords of Kobol on Sunday, this will be the biggest shock of the year as well. You know how the writers like to take us, make us expect to be surprised one way but shock us with something new in the finales. Not wanting to separate this into its own article, and knowing that this article may not grow for a while (if ever), I added some [[BW:CJ#Derived Content|sourced speculation]] on Thrace's destiny based on series information in an attempt to tie it together. Hopefully it may enlighten some readers as to the sum data on what is known and lead some insight for the character's actions in the future (if any). While visiting [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maelstrom_%28Battlestar_Galactica%29 Wikipedia's article about Maelstrom], I noticed a neat trivia piece that I have confirmed independently. Right before Kara's Viper explodes at the climax of "[[Maelstrom]]", if one listens closely (on a DD 5.1 system or with headphones, if one has the iTunes download), one can hear the distinctive voice of an original series (or Guardian, as per the events of "[[Razor]]") Cylon Centurion say "By your command" (the word "command" is muffled by the explosion). At first I thought it was some sound effect used to illustrate the stress of the gas giant's atmosphere on Kara's Viper, but the words "By your" are clearly discernable. Regarding the last part of the article there is a point that says that when Kara re-appears near Lee's viper she's riding a brand new Viper Mark II. Cause i read the wiki just after i saw the episode i think this is totally wrong imho. On a routine patrol around the Fleet, his Raptor suffers from an engine and [[RCS]] malfunction, due to impurities in its [[tylium]] fuel. Unable to regain control and on a collision course with ''[[Colonial One]]'', he and Edmonson are forced to eject from the Raptor. The craft collides with ''Colonial One'', causing moderate hull damage and several injuries, but no fatalities ([[Dirty Hands]]).

McCall is one of the pilots who helps pull the body of [[Alan Hughes]] out of the Raptor after a bomb placed by [[Aaron Kelly]] explodes under his seat ([[The Son Also Rises]]).

As the Fleet approaches the [[Ionian nebula]], Edmonson and McCall are tasked to stay one jump point behind the Fleet to keep watch for possible Cylon pursuers. The two pass their time with playing [[Triad (RDM)|Triad]] and Edmonson teases him about being a "ladies man" who masturbates in his bunk. When a Cylon fleet shows up they barely manage to spin up the FTL drive and escape before being destroyed by a missile ([[Crossroads, Part I]]).

In another dangerous Raptor incident, Edmonson and McCall are forced to make an emergency landing that nearly results in their deaths, due to a failed repair job made by [[Galen Tyrol]]. While McCall is extremely angry over this, Edmonson soothes the tension between McCall and Tyrol by writing it off as a mistake, which she attributes to Tyrol's mourning of the recently deceased [[Cally Tyrol]] ([[Escape Velocity]]).

He was a member of [[Felix Gaeta|Gaeta's]] mutiny and was shot non-fatally by [[Kara Thrace]]. ([[The Oath]])

No, you are wrong. I have reviewed the scenes in question and there is no indication that Zarek has convinced Baltar to run at the end of their scene together in The Captain's Hand. It is ambiguous, at the very least. Zarek may have opened his eyes to the possibility of running and winning, but there is no definitive indication that Baltar WILL INDEED run at the end of their conversation together. You are making unwarranted assumptions. I could just as easily argue that Six convinced Baltar to run since her image appears to him at the exact moment he appears to decide to make the announcement of his candidacy. She has many times previously pushed him to ascend to the presidency, and that interpretation is equally logical and supportable. In his younger days, Tigh flew a [[Viper (TOS)|Viper]] with Adama ([[Saga of a Star World]]).

Despite his reputation for being strict regarding regulations and discipline, Tigh reveals a lighter side when he covers for [[Greenbean]] in front of [[Council Security]]. After security leaves, Tigh light-heartedly reprimands Greenbean, before ordering that [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]]'s bachelor party be in full swing when he and [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]] return from their patrol. Colonel Tigh is more of a sceptic than Adama, and is quite concerned when Adama orders [[The Fleet (TOS)|the Fleet]] to head into the [[magnetic void]] ([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I]]).

When [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylon]] [[Raider (TOS)|Raiders]] attack while Adama is on [[Kobol (TOS)|Kobol]], Colonel Tigh commands ''Galactica'' in his absence. Tigh is surprised when the previously ill pilots report for duty during [[Battle of Kobol (TOS)|the battle]]. He points out that they are barely able to stand, to which [[Boomer (TOS)|Boomer]] replies that it is fortunate that the Viper is flown in the seated position ([[Lost Planet of the Gods, Part II]]).

When Adama is reluctant to send out a patrol to search for the lost Apollo, Tigh is able to convince him otherwise. Boomer and Starbuck are already waiting in the [[launch tubes (TOS)|launch tubes]], and successfully find Apollo and guide him back to ''Galactica'' without attracting the attention of the Cylons ([[The Lost Warrior]]).

Adama volunteers Colonel Tigh to help him cover [[Athena (TOS)|Athena]]'s shift in [[Core Command]] so that she can go on a date aboard the [[Rising Star (TOS)|''Rising Star'']] ([[The Long Patrol]]).

On Colonel Tigh's suggestion, Adama orders the Fleet to maximum speed (rather than moving at the speed of the slowest ship) as they neared the [[Ravashol pulsar]]. They hoped to make the ships of the fleet more difficult targets by increasing the spacing between the ships, and reduce the collateral damage inflicted should one of the ships take a hit from the pulsar. Fortunately the pulsar is destroyed before the Fleet gets into range ([[The Gun on Ice Planet Zero, Part II]]).

After Cylon Raiders destroy two of the three [[Agro Ship]]s, Colonel Tigh personally inspects the [[Agro Ship 9|only one that survives]]. He learns that the fleet's entire crop supply has been destroyed in the attack and that the fleet's supply of seed has been exhausted and must be somehow replenished. This prompts Adama's mission to [[Sectar (planet)|Sectar]] to trade an [[energizer]] for the needed seed ([[The Magnificent Warriors]]).

Picking up a great deal of civilian Cylon radio traffic, Tigh reports that a large concentration of Cylons are nearby. Adama orders the Fleet to a halt, awaiting word from the recon patrol. Before the patrol can return, Colonel Tigh reports a large contact approaching. It appears to be a battlestar, and a communication comes in on Fleet Com-Line Alpha (which is only used between Colonial warships). Adama believes the message to be a hoax, as they are the last remaining Colonial war ship. Adama is delighted to learn that the message is from [[Cain (TOS)|Commander Cain]], and the sensor contact is [[Pegasus (TOS)|''Pegasus'']].

The honeymoon does not last long, however. Adama is forced to relieve Cain of command of ''Pegasus'' when he refuses to redistribute fuel from his ship to the other ships in the Fleet. Adama appoints Tigh to take command of ''Pegasus''. Tigh takes his place on the bridge of ''Pegasus'', and insists on beginning the fuel transfer over [[Tolan]]'s objections. Before any transfer can take place, though, Cylon Raiders attack. Cain has his command returned to him, and the crew of ''Pegasus'' cheers when they hear the news. Tolan asks Tigh not to take the cheers personally. Tigh understands and asks, "How can you fight a living legend?" Colonel Tigh resumes his role as executive officer aboard ''Galactica'' ([[The Living Legend, Part I]]).

As a Cylon attack approaches, Adama and Tigh begin to realize that the Cylons are attacking in force. They order the ship's compartments to be sealed, to prevent a hull breach. All squadrons are launched to defend ''Galactica''. The Raiders are not fighting back, and two manage to slip through. One is destroyed near the bridge. Despite closing the blast shield the bridge sustains heavy damage, and Adama is critically wounded. Tigh orders Omega to call for [[Salik|Dr. Salik]] to take care of Adama, and assumes command. The other Raider explodes against the port [[landing bay]], causing explosions fires throughout the ship. Tigh realizes that the Raiders were likely packed with [[Solonite]] or some other high explosive, in order for them to have exploded with such force. The explosions have damaged the ship's automated firefighting systems. A plan to extinguish the fires using Vipers firing [[boroton]] fails. Tigh puts [[mushies]] near the air ducts in hopes of helping [[Muffit]] find them. Muffit appears out of the Core Command air ducts, and they attach a note and some lifemasks to him so that he can ferry them back to the trapped survivors in the [[rejuvenation center]]. Muffit completes his task, delivering the lifemasks and the note. The fire is successfully extinguished by Apollo and Starbuck, and Adama recovers from his successful surgery ([[Fire in Space]]).

After a hard-fought game of [[Triad (TOS)|Triad]], Apollo, Boomer, and Starbuck are informed by Colonel Tigh of an emergency meeting in the war room. [[Bojay]]'s patrol has gone missing. The warriors are deployed to investigate, but Tigh doesn't like the looks of the seismic readings, and is afraid Bojay's patrol has crashed. The patrol discovers the wreckage of a ship, and returns with [[Iblis|Count Iblis]]. Colonel Tigh is immediately suspicious of Iblis. Tigh later informs Adama that Iblis had visited Core Command, and Adama is furious. Tigh is in Core Command with Adama when the [[Ship of Lights|mysterious lights]] begin appearing around the Fleet ([[War of the Gods, Part I]]).

Colonel Tigh presents [[Kronus|Commander Kronus]] with the [[Star of Kobol]] during an award ceremony, while Adama gives the speech. At the reception afterwards, Commander Kronus berates Colonel Tigh for drinking before going on duty. Tigh accepts the criticism, and respectfully leaves the reception early to get to his work. Later in Core Command, Starbuck requests permission to take his Viper aboard the ''[[Celestra]]'' under the pretense of a "maintenance scan" of his Viper's electronics. Tigh isn't convinced, but grants permission to the warrior. He also informs [[Cassiopeia]], who reclaims the concert tickets from Starbuck in the Viper bay ([[Take the Celestra]]).

Command Adama and Colonel Tigh are alerted by Apollo, Starbuck, Cassiopeia, and Sheba of the [[Gamma frequency]] signal they receive in the [[Celestial chamber]]. A Viper patrol is launched to investigate, and discovers a Cylon [[Basestar (TOS)|basestar]]. Adama is tired of running, and wants to launch an assault against the basestar, in a bid to escape the Galaxy without Cylon pursuit. Colonel Tigh briefs the Viper pilots on the capabilities of the basestar, painting a grim picture of the situation. The [[Battle at Galaxy's Edge|attack]] is successful, and ''Galactica'' escapes the galaxy, hoping to find [[Earth (TOS)|Earth]] ([[The Hand of God (TOS)|The Hand of God]]).
