:Slander survived the Cylon holocaust by spitting pure vitriol at an incoming nuclear warhead, causing the warhead to rethink its existence as a weapon of mass destruction and become a gardener instead. Unfortunately, this warhead was then spurned by [[Number Three|D'Anna Biers]] and blew up anyway, six weeks after the attack was over. Slander had, at that point, rescued an unconscious [[Ellen Tigh]] and placed her aboard the ''[[Rising Star]]''. Not wanting to be around when the obviously high-maintenance married woman awoke, he rocketed himself into space using sheer force of denial and ended up on ''[[Cloud Nine]]'' when it joined the Colonial refugee fleet. He transferred to battlestar ''Wiki'' and was appointed by [[User:Joe Beaudoin Jr.|Commander "Beau" Beaudoin]] to head up all Snark-related affairs and keep the other officers on their toes. He was tragically eaten alive months later, on the ''[[Gideon]]'', but was found to have lost little functionality in his transition to undeath.

:Yeah it's a bit ambiguous. Bodies are carried away and one crewmember goes to one of the stretchers as if that person still lives. On the other hand, it looks like Gavin dies and Adama's reaction seems to reinforce that. Maybe it'll be cleared up the in the next episodes.

:The music was TOS-like too. It was alright, but I don't like the TOS Cylon Raiders in this context. They even have windows. It makes no sense whatsoever for a machine to control another machine like that. If the Cylons have the resources to build their own stuff like the basestars (which should be explained at some point btw), they can also build ships that fly themselves. I'm not even looking forward to see the TOS Centurions if they don't update their movement. It is day 4,571 of the First [[Cylon War]]. On board ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'', [[Jaycie McGavin]] and [[William Adama]] are having sex in the [[duty locker]], during which McGavin asks if Adama left his boots out. Adama tells her that he ran into the Commander while he was taking off his boots, which leads into them mocking the commander with one of his apparently [[Nothing but the rain|well-known greetings]].

McGavin and Adama talk before joining a battle to attack an ice planet in the "ass end of nowhere", where a rumored [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] superweapon is allegedly being built. It is defended heavily by the Cylons: three [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Raider]] wings, ground forces, defensive batteries and nuclear weapons.

Another rumor they talk about is that peace negotiations are in progress and that the Cylons may unexpectedly surrender, which McGavin scoffs as unlikely. She runs off to report to a briefing for [[Raptor Squadron 2]], leaving Adama alone as the ship readies itself for possible nuclear attack.

Adama then spots two Raiders entering the planet's atmosphere. Out for revenge, Adama engages the two. He shoots down one in the high altitudes. Inside a cloud, he suddenly collides with the other and falls to the ground in his disintegrating craft.

As [[William Adama]]'s [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]] free-falls through the [[ice planet]]'s atmosphere, Adama manages to eject from a parachute-survivable altitude. However, he is not alone: a lone [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Centurion]] survives as well. The Centurion fires at the free-falling Adama, while Adama attempts to return the welcome. Quickly, they become entangled with one another, hand-to-hand fighting as they free-fall. As the Centurion's blade slides out of its arm, Adama pulls the rip cord and escapes, deploying the parachute.

Adama lands safely on the ground, crashing through what appears to be a warehouse sky-window. The Cylon seems to have crashed nearby and Adama wails on the Centurion with a pipe, severing the Centurion's head from its body. Adama wipes off the Centurion's oil and, now armed with the Cylon's weapon, leaves.

===Episode 5: The Lab===

Adama begins to explore the facility that he had landed in. As he enters what appears to be a laboratory, he finds evidence of human experimentation and human mutilations. He eventually finds a vat filled with a gelatin-like substance which is reminiscent of the [[resurrection tank]]s or [[Hybrid]] tanks that the later [[humanoid Cylon]]s would use. He kneels down and touches the substance, immediately he begins to hear the voices of torture victims and as he looks back at the tank, abruptly a hand grabs Adama's arm. Then the hand abruptly disappears and the visions and voices are gone, but this causes Adama to fall back onto the ground. A voice is heard, quoting from the [[Pythia]]n prophecies: "All this has happened before and will happen again."

Afterwards, a banging sound is heard from a locked chamber. As Adama approaches the portal window, an unidentified person presses his face against the window and begs for him to release him and the other captives. Adama then attempts to break open the door to the chamber.

While Adama tries to open the door in vain, the man tells him that they are civilians from the Gemenese ship ''[[Diana]]'', whose convoy was attacked by the Cylons, and that there were initially 50 of them who were taken away one by one. The room begins to tremble and then the audience is shown that the warehouse is actually next to a grounded basestar that is preparing to take off. Adama manages to open the door a little bit, but not enough to allow the captives to escape. The man urges Adama to leave them and save himself to tell others of what has happened. Adama finally complies after he realizes that he cannot free the prisoners, and runs out of the laboratory.

Adama tells her that he ran into the Commander while he was taking off his boots, which leads into them mocking the commander with one of his apparently [[Nothing but the rain|well-known greetings]].

McGavin and Adama talk before joining a battle to attack an ice planet in the "ass end of nowhere", where a rumored [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] superweapon is allegedly being built. It is defended heavily by the Cylons: three [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Raider]] wings, ground forces, defensive batteries and nuclear weapons.

Another rumor they talk about is that peace negotiations are in progress and that the Cylons may unexpectedly surrender, which McGavin scoffs as unlikely. She runs off to report to a briefing for [[Raptor Squadron 2]], leaving Adama alone as the ship readies itself for possible nuclear attack.

The Centurion fires at the free-falling Adama, while Adama attempts to return the welcome. Quickly, they become entangled with one another, hand-to-hand fighting as they free-fall. As the Centurion's blade slides out of its arm, Adama pulls the rip cord and escapes, deploying the parachute.

Adama lands safely on the ground, crashing through what appears to be a warehouse sky-window. The Cylon seems to have crashed nearby and Adama wails on the Centurion with a pipe, severing the Centurion's head from its body. Adama wipes off the Centurion's oil and, now armed with the Cylon's weapon, leaves.

Adama begins to explore the facility that he had landed in. As he enters what appears to be a laboratory, he finds evidence of human experimentation and human mutilations. He eventually finds a vat filled with a gelatin-like substance which is reminiscent of the [[resurrection tank]]s or [[Hybrid]] tanks that the later [[humanoid Cylon]]s would use. He kneels down and touches the substance, immediately he begins to hear the voices of torture victims and as he looks back at the tank, abruptly a hand grabs Adama's arm. Then the hand abruptly disappears and the visions and voices are gone, but this causes Adama to fall back onto the ground. A voice is heard, quoting from the [[Pythia]]n prophecies: "All this has happened before and will happen again."

Afterwards, a banging sound is heard from a locked chamber. As Adama approaches the portal window, an unidentified person presses his face against the window and begs for him to release him and the other captives. Adama then attempts to break open the door to the chamber.

Adama manages to open the door a little bit, but not enough to allow the captives to escape. The man urges Adama to leave them and save himself to tell others of what has happened. Adama finally complies after he realizes that he cannot free the prisoners, and runs out of the laboratory.

When I first saw this, I was concerned that it was proposing that WE strike. Which, while that might sound noble, I doubt would have any impact on the thinking on TPTB that make the real decisions. Stopping work (or, more extreme, shutting down the site) would hurt the fans without directly impacting the studios. (I'd like to think that our work does indirectly help them... but we're still here because they suffer us, so I don't want to get too big of a head.)

As for this proposal, I'd be in favor of it. Regardless of the position that we took, just having a visible position at all will help bring attention to the situation to those who weren't aware of it. As almost all contributions to this site involve writing, and are about the stories that the writers(and writer/producers) bring to the table, it's pretty reasonable to expect our community to align more on the side of the writers than otherwise. I'd certainly be welcome to hearing opposing views on the issue... :I have two polarized views on this, both important. (1) It is in Battlestar Wiki's interests as fans of the show to support the writers, since they are the content generators that actually make the show, and form it into something worth watching, worth reading, worth documenting. Without the writers, Battlestar Wiki would not exist. But, (2) Battlestar Wiki '''does not own''' ''Battlestar Galactica'' in any form. We are allowed to document the various ''Battlestar Galactica'' episodes and other media under the legally-specious "fair use" doctrines. In the end, the show is owned by NBC Universal, which, if we took sides in an issue that we do not own, can tick off people in the know and (in the worst case) order a cease-and-desist and shut Battlestar Wiki down in a heartbeat, and petition the transfer of the wiki's content to their wiki.

:Because of this, I recommend that Battlestar Wiki stay {{neutral}} on the Writer's Strike. Hey everyone, I know I'm still kind of new to all this so bear with me. I was just wondering how our Razor spoilers affect our status with the company, and how they would affect this decision. Now I know that for any wiki, when something like that happens (something gets leaked), it's nearly impossible to contain, and it's better to just embrace it rather than fight it, but I still can't help wondering if it really falls below their dradis so to speak. I think, at least politically, that it might have some bearing on your decision.
Although, on the other hand, I should also point out that supporting the writers, while a huge risk, might have rewards. It would probably ingratiate us with the writers and producers, and at the same time go a long way towards ensuring that some of the mistakes the network makes, some of which I've felt are unnacceptable, would never happen again.

I definitely have personal feelings on this and many related issues (writers require proper compensation, "fair use" and "public domain" have effectively been destroyed by corporate copyright extension lobbying, etc.) and I am extremely torn to also agree that BSGwiki should remain {{neutral}}. If everyone took the "we shouldn't piss off the corporation" attitude, however, necessary changes would never occur, abuses would run rampant, and profit would rule over any and every other consideration. The ranks may be confusing in that many fan sites use that convention in a similar way. We don't want to confuse Battlestar Wiki's nature with fan sites and their "ships."

I like Joe's original naming: Chiefs are administrators, deckhands are trusted users, all else are crew, except bots, which really should remain the same (it's got its own great name). Joe should get his own title, and "Commander" works for me. B-crats could get "Master Chief" maybe, but that may be confusing with "Halo" players. Maybe "Colonel," but again, avoid the uses of rank too much or we'll get too much into role-play. Perhaps b-crats could be "Senior Chiefs". The ranks may be confusing in that many fan sites use that convention in a similar way. We don't want to confuse Battlestar Wiki's nature with fan sites and their "ships."

I like Joe's original naming: Chiefs are administrators, deckhands are trusted users, all else are crew, except bots, which really should remain the same (it's got its own great name). Joe should get his own title, and "Commander" works for me. B-crats could get "Master Chief" maybe, but that may be confusing with "Halo" players. Maybe "Colonel," but again, avoid the uses of rank too much or we'll get too much into role-play. Perhaps b-crats could be "Senior Chiefs". It has always been my understanding that the FCC's authority to restrict content apllies only to broadcast stations (the idea being that the frequencies used to broadcast network telivision belong to the public), and that the FCC's authority to regulate content is also based on the hour of the day it is broadcast, with indecency being punished the most severly between 7 am and 10 pm. Given that RDM is shown on cable rather than broadcast and airs at 10 pm if I am in fact correct, especially on the first point, then it would appear that the FCC has little to do with the content of the series, except for when it is produced with the possibility for broadcast in mind.
