SkyWayMan is a 40 year old computer tech, instrument private pilot and aspiring author living in Phoenix, Arizona. Currently building flying time before working on a new rating in between watching episodes of Battlestar Galactica. A list of airports in my logbook as of the beginning of 2008:

However the Greeks considered it to be part of ship [[Wikipedia:Argo Navis|Argo Navis]]. It was made a separate constellation only 300 years ago, presumably after contact was lost with the [[Thirteenth Tribe]].

*On ''Pegasus'' Lee Adama and his wife have a conversation. Lee thinks that his father won't return from New Caprica and that the entire mission will fail. He also worries about his future responsibilities as the leader of the rest of mankind, but his wife tells him to not give up hope.
*On New Caprica Samuel Anders confronts Colonel Tigh about Ellen Tigh's betrayal and tell him that she needs to die.
*Ellen tells her husband what she did to free him and explains her reasons for betraying the resistance. Tigh consoles her and she falls asleep, her drink having been poisoned by her husband. He puts down her corpse saying that he still loves her.

He opens with fire with the forward batteries and destroys one basestar in the opening salvo.
*The Cylons realize that they have lost and decide to evacuate the planet. [[D'anna Biers]] voltunteers to stay behind and set off a nuclear weapon. She offers [[Gaius Baltar]] to join them.
*The Colonial ships are leaving New Caprica by jumping from within the atmosphere. ''Pegasus'' is getting heavily beaten, having left all of her Vipers back with the rest of the civilian Fleet. Admiral Adama realizes that his son planned a one-way mission and orders to retrieve his own fighters.
*On ''Colonial One'' [[Felix Gaeta]] points a gun at Baltar and accuses him of having betrayed everyone. Gaeta says that while he had been an idealist who believed in New Caprica, Baltar only thought about himself. Baltar admits to be an egotist and asks Gaeta to shoot him. Gaeta relents and give Baltar a final chance to redeem himself: stop D'anna Biers from setting off the nuke.
*With ''Pegasus'' dying, Lee Adama orders everyone to abandon the ship in evacuation Raptors standing by. He sets the ship on auto-pilot and on a collision course with a basestar, destroying it. The port flightpod collides with another basestar.
*Kara Thrace retrieves Kacey, but Leoben has returned and confronts her. She appears to give in to his demands, saying "I love you" and kissing him. Then she stabs him picks up Kacey.
*[[D'anna Biers]] searches [[Dodona Selloi]]'s tent, but the oracle has left. Outside, Caprica-Six and Baltar hear a baby crying and track the sound to a group of corpses. One of them is [[Maya]] and the baby turns out to be [[Hera]]. Biers sees them and Baltar gives her the child. She leaves, apparently no longer intending to detonate the nuke.
*Laura Roslin and a group of resistance fighters enter the now abandoned Colonial One and are the last ship to leave the planet.
*On [[Galactica]] many people are reunited. Among them William and Lee Adama, Admiral Adama and Colonel Tigh, Helo and Sharon and Galen Tyrol and Kara Thrace. When Thrace shows him Kacey another woman walks by and recognizes the girl as her daughter, whom the Cylons had taken away. She thanks Thrace for rescuing her. After believing Kacey to be her own daughter, Thrace is shocked, but gives her away. People are very jubilant, but some realize the price they paid.
*Tory Foster tells Roslin that Maya and Hera didn't make it off the planet.
*Admiral Adama shaves off his mustache and returns to a fully staffed CIC.

*With Baltar seemingly missing at the conclusion of the episode, will his Vice President, Tom Zarek, become President? Or will...somehow...Roslin become President?
**Tom Zarek resigned in protest after Baltar's surrender. Laura Roslin after sitting down at the President's desk immediately removes documents she had hidden on her and placed them on the desk. Her tender and careful mannerisms with them indicate they are extremely important. It is possible they will give her legal authority to resume the Presidency. On what legal basis this can be done remains to be seen. A previously secret Quorum vote may be the most likely means of investing her with the office.
*How many humans died on New Caprica during the occupation and escape? Will it be in the thousands?
**There were around 39,000 civilians trying to get off New Caprica, most of them under gun fire. How many civilians were left behind, either willingly or due to wounds?
*With ''Pegasus'' destroyed, will Tyrol's fighter construction continue?
**Since ''Galactica'' now has ''Pegasus''' [[Viper]] and [[Raptor]] compliment in addition to its own, will the starboard flight pod now be pressed back into service?
**What will become of Lee Adama? [[CAG]] of ''Galactica''?
***As Lee Adama outranks Colonel Tigh, XO of ''Galactica'' is an equally likely position. Likewise, as no such officer has been shown to date, the younger Adama might be officially assigned as the CO of the combined ''Galactica''/''Pegasus'' Marine contingent.
*Will Tigh become a disagreeable drunk, as he was before Ellen Tigh first boarded ''Galactica''?
*In order to build New Caprica City, the ships were at least partially stripped and supplies were offloaded. What remains on board them?

A religious text of the [[Kobol (faith)|Kobol]]lian faith.

It contained information regarding the exodus of humanity from the motherworld of Humanity, [[Kobol]], and stories regarding humanity upon that planet.

[[Adama (TOS)|Adama]] found it to be useful on his search for the lost [[Thirteenth Tribe]] and [[Earth]]; it aided in finding Kobol, as it told of an endless [[magnetic void]] and a lone star. (([[Lost Planet of the Gods]])

The Book of the Word of the Original Series is comparable to the [[Sacred Scrolls]] in the [[Battlestar Galactica (RDM)|Re-imagined Series]] as it, too, led [[Laura Roslin]] to assemble the pieces of the [[Pythia|Pythian Prophesy]] needed to find the direction to Earth in the new series.

===Overview===
In the original series, battlestars were the direct response to the on-going war with the Cylons. The length and beam figures given here are based on research carried out by [http://ravensbranch.allen.com/galacticasize.html Todd Boyce], a computer animator. There are many differing claims to the actual size of the original battlestars, ranging from some 2,000 (accepted length in a number of gaming systems) through to 2-3 miles in overall length.

Interviews with [[Glen A. Larson]] and [[John Dykstra]], the Visual Effects supervisor for the [[Battlestar Galactica (TOS)|original series]] stated that the original ''[[Galactica#Original Series Galactica|Galactica]]'' was around a mile long. If the scale of the master model used for filming was set at 1/960, then the overall length of the ''Galactica'' and her sister ships would be some 6,080ft - or one [[Wikipedia:Nautical Mile|nautical mile]]. However, there is no confirmation available that 1/960 (1 inch = 80ft) was in fact the scale of the model, and the figures have thus been "back engineered" to fit the case.

In undertaking his work, Boyce utilised an established baseline for his calculations: the full-size mock-up of a Viper built for filming purposes. This mock-up measured some 28.5ft in length and a wingspan of some 12.5ft, and formed a means by which Boyce could take key shots from various episodes, combine them with a scale model of the ''Galactica'' and extrapolate a reasonably-consistent set of measurements. Thus: using film footage alone, Boyce was able to determine the length of the ''Galactica'' to be some 4,143ft, while use of a scale model produced a figure of some 4,166ft: an acceptable difference of some 23ft. What is more, these measurements appear consistent with the overall size of the Viper launch tubes (calculated at some 16ft in diameter, based on the wingspan of the full-size mock-up and images of Vipers being launched).

Given this degree of similarity in final calculations, these figures have been adopted here as the probable dimensions of the original series battlestars. However, in using these figures, it should be noted that:

* Boyce also used a [[Cylon Raider#Original Series Raider|Cylon Raider]] as a benchmark for his calculations, and produced an overall length for the ''Galactica'' at between 12,818ft and 21,210ft (2.4 and 4 miles). However, these measurements can be discounted on the grounds that:
** They are initially based on assumed data: a shot of a Cylon Raider apparently "overflying" a Colonial Viper. However, no vertical separation distance between the two can be calculated, leading to a completely arbitrary figure (39ft) for the wingspan of the Raider
** These figures would yield launch tubes between some 50ft and 82ft in diameter - which is clearly not supported by film of Viper launches.
* Boyce also used close-up shots of Viper launches to try and calculate the size of the ''Galactica'', and arrived at a figure of 2,712ft, with the flight pods measuring 1,294ft. However, these figures cannot be taken at face value, as they would render the Viper launch tubes with a 10.4ft diameter, making them too small to contain Vipers.

===Myth of the Twelve Battlestars (Original Series)===
Within fan circles, it has always been assumed there were twelve battlestars. Given there are [[Twelve Colonies (TOS)|Twelve Colonies]], and a [[Quorum of Twelve (TOS)|Quorum of Twelve]], twelve battlestars was perhaps seen as a logical extension of the motif of twelve. However, [[Glen A. Larson]] has stated that there was never any decision to have a specific number of battlestars, nor did the [[TOS Battlestar Galactica|original series]] ever mention there only being twelve battlestars; indeed, only eight battlestars were specifically mentioned within the series. Given the length of the human / Cylon war, it seems only logical that overall, far more than twelve of these warships were constructed.

[[Saul Tigh]] about it in his quarters. Tigh says that it was he and not his wife who traded it to Fisk for good liquor, fruit, etc. for Ellen and himself. Tigh explains that Fisk was deeply involved in using ''Pegasus'' as a hub to fence black market goods.
*Dr. [[Cottle]]'s autopsy finds cubits jammed in Fisk's mouth, perhaps as a warning. Adama realizes that Fisk was trying to undercut one of his black market suppliers, and they took revenge.

She candidly asks Dr. Baltar, her vice president, to resign. While he never wanted any political power in his life or the office at first, he wants to stay VP now. Roslin tells him it's not an offer she'll make again, but he leaves anyway.
*Off duty, working out in ''Galactica's'' gym, [[Anastasia Dualla]] comes to [[Lee Adama]] to bravely ask if their flirtation while working out is leading somewhere. Adama has no idea what to say, and Dualla takes the quiet hint.
*Lee Adama rushes to Shevon's quarters on ''Cloud 9'' after she calls for help. He finds the bruised Shevon and Paya, and decides to take them to ''Galactica'', but is ambushed by thugs, who nearly garrote him. As he is held within a breath of his life, he is confronted by a well-dressed, blunt "businessman", who warns him to back off of the investigation.
*After the beating, Apollo notices the corpse of the man that garroted Fisk. [[Tom Zarek]] drops by the scene in Shevon's room later, and discusses the black market with Apollo.
*Zarek points out that the black market does get supplies where they are needed. Nonetheless, Zarek mentions the central hub of the black market, ''[[Prometheus]]'', a ship so lawless it's practically "off the grid", where you can supposedly get anything. Zarek gives a name to the "businessman" -- [[Phelan]] -- and tells Apollo that he probably took Shevon there. Additionally, he points out that Phelan has given Lee the murderer -- the thug with a bullet in his head -- and that it should be considered "a way out."
*On ''Prometheus'', alone, Lee Adama searches and finds Paya and other children locked up.
*Apollo encounters Phelan in the ''Prometheus's'' bar. Apollo warns that ''Galactica'' is fully aware of his location, and that the battlestar would vent ''Prometheus's'' air into space unless he gets Shevon and Paya back, and the black market is shut down.
*Phelan counters that the Fleet needs the black market; it's like a pressure valve. Whenever a ship falls behind in the supply schedule, the black market fills the need. Phelan states that they sell all things to fill all wants, including ''child'' prostitution. Adama is horrified. Shevon is dragged out and admits to her work for Phelan as a prostitute.
*Taking a gun from one of Phelan's guards, Adama threatens Phelan about the black market crossing the line and after several flashbacks, shoots him in the chest.
*Apollo turns to Phelan's guards, also in shock, and tells them that he's not going to shut down all black market trade because the Fleet needs it for vital supplies whether he likes it or not. However, they continue their business at his whim only. If there are more killings, if they hold back essential medicines or use children, he will annihilate them without restraint.
*Shevon rejects Apollo, telling him he he doesn't really care for her and only sees her as a replacement for the girl he left on Caprica.
*Back on ''Colonial One'', the Adamas present their reports to the President. Roslin is upset that Apollo did not shut down the black market, but Apollo counters that they will never have a perfect system and there will always be a black market.

== Questions ==
*How were the black market gangsters able to penetrate ''Pegasus''' security, causing the death of its second commanding officer in a short period?
**It is likely that ''Pegasus'' draconian command structure allows for abuse, and Fisk's own use of the market led to tacit protection of it, including its figurehead, Phelan.
*At the end of the episode, Zarek is seen walking in a crowd on the ''Prometheus'', with one of Phelan's old men nearby. Is Zarek going to try to fill the power vacuum left in the wake of Phelan's death? Was it just showing how everyone needs to use the black market, even someone like Tom Zarek who claims to wash his hands of involvement with it?
**Did Zarek somehow set up the entire incident to get Apollo to kill Phelan for him, allowing him to take over control of the black market?
***It's possible that Zarek is going to fill the gap with his own agents and use it as political leverage against President Roslin at some future point in time. This is just speculative however, more evidence would be required to prove Zarek's hand in the Black Market.
*The woman that William Adama (father) discusses with Lee Adama (son). Is it Shevon, the prostitute (the obvious, close-at-hand issue)? Or, is it the girl back on Caprica (the deeper-seated, much more affecting issue)?
**Could very easily be both, though it is probably the latter of the two choices. If Admiral Adama's relationship with his son was strained before the attacks, he might not know about his son's prior bedroom activities.
*Why hasn't Roslin openly accused Baltar of collaborating with the Cylons after "[[Epiphanies]]"?
**Possibly it is because she has no actual "evidence", and she remembered seeing him when her mind was in shambles dying of cancer, so she may not feel confident enough in this revelation to act on it more openly. However, it does seem to have influenced her to the point that unoficially, she no longer trusts Baltar.
*Did Apollo's pregnant former love on Caprica actually die, or is she perhaps one of the handful of survivors? Or worse, a prisoner in one of the Cylon [[Farms]]?
*Who will take command of ''Pegasus'' following Fisk's death? ([[Barry Garner|Answer]])
*Where does the Black Market get all their goods, given the finite supplies on the fleet?
**Possibly from freighters that were enroute at the time of the attack. Non perishable goods such as medical supplies, liquor, cigarettes and fumarello's could have become a currency they could negotiate with. Perishable goods such as the fresh fruit for Colonel Tigh are grown on the Agro ship.

== Analysis ==

*Ron D. Moore admits in his podcast that this episode did not live up to his expectations. The long complaint about failed goals he made in his blog was actually about this episode, and not "[[Downloaded]]", as speculated by other unofficial sources.
*It may be that Moore was attempting to work the story as a detective mystery, but fell short of the goal.
*This is the third episode to use a "Flash Forward" introduction to the storyline as a hook; the trope was also used just two episodes previous in [[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]. Moore has said that the device was added after he was disappointed with initial cuts of the episode to try to add suspense.
*Apollo's recent angst may appear to some viewers as rather hastily added to the character, much like the issues involving [[Laura Roslin]]'s miraculously fast recovery from her cancer in the [[Epiphanies|previous episode]].
**Then again, it was rather addressed in [[Resurrection Ship, Part II]] when Lee admits to Kara, "I didn't wanna come back alive."
*The Apollo-Dualla relationship, a story thread running since "[[Resistance]]", appears to have been stopped very abruptly, with only Adama's angst as an excuse in ending their flirtation. The manner in which Dualla and Adama speak to each other appeared out of character. Dualla later appears with [[Billy Keikeya]], where he says little, and Dualla appears ready to give Adama up and continue things more seriously with Billy. Actor Paul Campbell (Billy) has been filming a lot of TV pilots and other projects, so he hasn't had much to do this season. But, in comparison to [[Cally]] or [[Kat]], who now seem better developed, Billy's character appears underused.
**The relationship between Apollo and Dualla may have been a contingency plan in case Campbell left the series.
***Actually, RDM said it was introduced because they thought it would make an interesting love triangle.
*Much of the regular cast, including [[Kara Thrace]], [[Sharon Valerii]], [[Helo]], [[Felix Gaeta]], [[Galen Tyrol]], and [[Cally]] do not appear in this episode. Baltar's virtual [[Number Six]] is seen in what some may feel was a distracting appearance, taunting Baltar on ''Pegasus'' and in the meeting with Roslin.
*Col. Tigh is merely a person to be interviewed in Apollo's investigation. Dr. [[Cottle]]'s screen time has increased in the last two episodes, although his character's contribution may be too short for some.
*Like many "pulp" murder mysteries, the episode appeared without a special point or purpose other than to unravel the mystery. Perhaps the writers were attempting to stress the ''realism'' of living in a "Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet" of civilians; yes, there would probably be gangsters carving out fiefdoms who would run drug, medicine, and prostitution rackets. The show took a really dark turn when it made mention of child prostitution. Once again, this isn't anything that several police-dramas airing at the same time of night as BSG haven't done, and nothing is "shown"; a character just mentions in dialog that he runs a ring of this, and the "good guy" promptly kills him and shuts it down. However, the entire idea of the drug rings, etc. is a little disturbing, even if entirely logical.
*The storyline of Apollo's pregnant girlfriend on Caprica was unusual in that this episode is the first mention of such a crucial backstory thread. Considering the extent to which the memory seems to weigh Lee down, it seems contrived to introduce it so late in the series, especially when there have been [[Resurrection Ship, Part II|many circumstances]] in earlier episodes during which such reflection would have been considerably more apt. In addition, confusion arose concerning Shevon's line about Adama's old flame "want(ing) to give you a child." That is, many viewers may not have understood that Adama's old love was actually already pregnant. Further, the incessant repetition of the flashback, which did not vary, did little to advance the plot.
*[[Jack Fisk]] being killed as easily as Cain was implausible. Admiral Adama is now escorted by marines at all times. With Cain's [[Gina|killer still on the loose]], it would rational for Fisk to have some paranoia.
**Phelan and his men clearly had access to Fisk already, so it may not be all that implausible.
**Considering that an attempt on Adama's life has already happened once, marines should have been escorting him from the very beginning. With Fisk and Cain now both dead, there may be a standing Fleet or Colonial military order in place that automatically activates, similar to such real-world orders in the US military.
*The scene between Baltar and Roslin was interesting in its scripting and acting. Roslin is determined to be ''extremely'' polite, forceful, and cheery despite the fact that she's making a power play and now ''knows'' Baltar has something to do with the fall of the Colonies. Viewers should probably expect this revelation to come to a head at the close of season 2.

== Notes ==
*Survivor count for this episode was 49,597. That's one less than last week's episode, "[[Epiphanies]]" in which a suicide bomber attacked the tylium refinery. However, bodies are seen blasted into space, and Adama actually says in dialog "people are dead", so more than one should have died. However, this number is occasionally offset by new babies born in the Fleet, which can account for some small discrepancies.
*Zarek notes that he is the representative of the ''[[Astral Queen]]'', although in "[[Colonial Day]]", he was elected to represent the colony of [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Sagittaron|Sagittaron]]. Given the nature of the conversation, however, he may have been speaking of his status as ''de facto'' leader of the Astral Queen.
*Central characters [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] and [[Sharon Valerii]] do not appear in this episode.
*Fisk, Phelan, and Apollo all use the term "cigar" in this episode. The use of the term "cigar", as opposed to the normal term of [[fumarello]], was a curious find in the episode. Like the mistaken use of "RADAR" instead of [[DRADIS]] in a past episode, this is likely a problem involving writers who apparently missed doing their homework on terminology from the [[series bible]] and past episodes.
*As seen in [[Final Cut]], there are occasionally meetings of all the ships in the fleet.
*Bill Duke (Phelan) also appeared in the scifi film [[Wikipedia:Predator|Predator]], and will play Bolivar Trask in the upcoming [[Wikipedia:X-Men_3|X-Men 3]].

'''Eden''' is a city on the planet [[Kobol]]. According to the [[Book of the Word]], it was the largest city on the planet. Due to an ecological disaster -- which had caused the exodus from Kobol -- Eden had become a desert, populated by ruins.

The structures of Eden are similar to [[Wikipedia:Egyptian architecture|Egyptian architecture]], populated by pyramid structures. (An architectual trait that is also apparent on [[The Twelve Colonies (TOS)|Caprica]].) It is here that the [[Tomb of the Ninth Lord of Kobol]] was located.

The fleet was restricted in its speed for it had to accomodate the slowest ship within the fleet -- removing that ship (or ships) was not an option as all ships in the Fleet were filled to (or over) capacity.

In the [[Battlestar Galactica (TOS)|original series]], the fumarello was a fairly large cigar, similar to a [[Wikipedia:Cigar|''parejo'']]. Typically seen near or in [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]]'s mouth, much to the dismay of the Cylons and their chest armor.

In the [[Battlestar Galactica (RDM)|re-imagining]], the fumarello is much the same ([[mini-series]]), and is likely made from [[fumarella leaf]]. ([[Water]])

Once the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|Cylon attack]] began and many civilian transports, including ''Colonial Heavy 798'', were stranded with nowhere to go, the starliner engages in rescue missions under the direct orders of Secretary Roslin, locating and gathering other civilian vessels marooned in space around the vicinity of [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Caprica|Caprica]].

With [[Case Orange|confirmation]] that President Adar and the rest of his cabinet are either dead or missing from the attacks, [[Laura Roslin]] is sworn-in as the new President, and ''Colonial Heavy 798'' is re-named ''Colonial One'', in recognition of its status in transporting the President. While this ordinary starliner probably lacks many of the facilities and systems the original ''Colonial One'' would have boasted, Roslin has nevertheless made it her base of operations, thus helping to keep her civilian administration physically distinct from [[William Adama|William Adama's]] military leadership.

==Design Characteristics==
''Colonial One'' is a standard Caprican-designed starliner converted for the new government's use as a long-range transport. Its normal passenger capacity has been reduced to accommodate the offices and cabins required by government personnel. Civilian passengers on ''Colonial One'' reside in converted sections of the liner.

A large main cabin aboard the ship provides seating accommodation for dignitaries and press alike, while forward of this are small, more personal quarters reserved for ministers and their guests. Despite its conversion for government use, ''Colonial One'' retains its own docking bay, large enough to take a Colonial shuttle, and also boasts a cargo hold big enough to house a [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]]-sized craft ([[Miniseries]]).

The cockpit of ''Colonial One'' is a redressed original Space Shuttle Orbiter cockpit simulator. The current Orbiter fleet have since been refurbished with [http://www.space.com/businesstechnology/technology/sts101_new_cockpit.html newer cockpits.]

The passenger area of the ship is modeled after the interior of the Pan Am ''Clipper Orion'' space shuttle seen ferrying Dr. Floyd into orbit in the movie ''2001: A Space Odyssey''.

The ship was intentionally painted in the color scheme of the real world [[Wikipedia:Air Force One|Air Force One]] to evoke more of that "real world" feel from the series.

Half way through [[Season One|season one]], the ''Colonial One'' CG model was updated and the seal of the President of [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|the Twelve Colonies]] was added to the dorsal "hump" at the bow of the ship. The reuse of stock footage from early in season one and the Miniseries, however causes the seal to continually appear and disappear at random intervals.

* With the [[Resurrection Ship]] destroyed as well as most of the nearest Cylon fleet, the Cylons are far less brazen in attacks, sending only a few Raiders to harass the mining operation.

* There is too much debris in the system to use [[DRADIS]] to quickly sight and kill the Raiders. [[Combat Air Patrol]]s are needed instead, using their [[Mark One Eyeball]] to find the Raiders.

* [[Kat]], now a seasoned and very talented pilot, challenges [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] over the "Top Gun" beer stein with the downing of Scar, which Thrace has held for many days.

As a distraught Thrace leaves, Sharon tells her to be careful.
* When a rookie pilot from ''Pegasus'', [[BB]], is killed, Kat berates Starbuck for giving him "textbook" advice. Later, Kat berates a hungover Starbuck again for being late to lead her own pilot's briefing as well as assigning [[Jo-Jo]] in her place on CAP, which leads to his death at the hands of Scar.
* Thrace and [[Lee Adama]] talk over drinks, when Thrace propositions Adama for a "quick lay." The two pilots attack each other, clothes flying, but Thrace is too aggressive, which turns Adama's desire almost completely off. He asks her what was wrong, and she admits that her feelings for Samuel Anders are very confused. When Adama tells her that its the "living guys" she can't deal with, Thrace is so confused that she slaps Adama, then kisses him for his thoughtfulness in reminding her that he is her friend before she leaves his quarters.
* Kat and Starbuck on on patrol when they spot a Raider. Both chase the Raider, but Scar is using that second Raider as a decoy and tries to ambush them from behind.
* Starbuck's instincts tell her to check their "six" (rear), which successfully locates Scar but leaves her Viper with moderate damage when Scar scores hits on her Viper.
* For a time, Starbuck loses focus (sadly dreaming about Samuel Anders) as she leads Scar into a tunnel-like canyon and heads directly towards Scar. Kat helps shake Starbuck from her suicidal run.
* Starbuck is again chased by Scar, but she instructs Kat to nail Scar from behind in a similar ambush that he attempted on them. The ambush is successful, with Kat winning her challenge over Starbuck.
* Starbuck fills the "Top Gun" beer stein for Kat, then praises the memory of the many pilots lost to Scar and past battles. Admiral Adama and Colonel [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]], both laudable Viper pilots themselves in the [[Cylon War]], attend the celebration. Admiral Adama ends the tribute with "[[So say we all]]".

== Questions ==


*Is Scar a reincarnation of the Cylon Raider that Starbuck captures in [[You Can't Go Home Again]]?
*The Fleet has obtained enough metal ore to (eventually) construct two new squadrons of Vipers: will they be Mark II's, or Mark VII's?
**It is likely that the ''Pegasus'' production facilities will create Mark VIIs, as the ''Pegasus'' is a more modern Battlestar than the ''Galactica'' (which does not have these facilities). Since the Mark IIs are outdated models that were only on ''Galactica'' for museum purposes, the blueprints and equipment molds in the production facilites are most likely not set to produce equipment for the older Vipers.
*Did Starbuck and Apollo actually "have sexual intercourse" briefly and then stop, or did they never actually get that far?
*With Thrace serving on ''Galactica'', who is instructing nuggets on ''Pegasus''?
*If Raiders reincarnate so that Cylon forces can benefit from their learned experience, why don't Centurions? (It was noted that Centurions cannot reincarnate in RDM's blog on [http://blog.scifi.com/battlestar/archives/2006/01/#a000114 January 20, 2006]).
**The three basic Cylon models represent something of a spectrum of advancement: from their original, purely mechanical form (the Centurions), to the almost-entirely "organic" forms (the humanoid Cylons). The Raiders are described (podcast, "[[Six Degrees of Separation]]") as supposed to be "in the gap" between [[Number Six]] and a Centurion. Centurions cannot resurrect, and they also contain none of the more advanced bio-mechanical technology the Cylons have developed (as demonstrated by destroyed Centurions, etc). Raiders, on the other hand, ''do'' contain "bio-mechanical" technology, albeit not as advanced as that used in the humanoid Cylons. Perhaps the resurrection technology is based on that bio-mechanical "wetware".
**It is possible that Centurions are not reincarnated, as so relatively few were lost in the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]], that to reincarnate any lost to resistance attacks may not be cost-effective when compared against the need to have experienced fightercraft against ''Galactica's'' battlegroup.

== Analysis ==
*The title "Scar" refers to the "ace" Cylon Raider this episode centers around. While all Cylon Raiders appear visually identical, this particular unit has extensive hull damage, whether from asteroid impacts, scoring from near-misses or other debris, giving it a weathered, craggy look - essentially, "battle scars".
*Many of the pilots Starbuck toasts are minor and recurring characters who have died in previous episodes. In the order she lists them:

*During the "previously on Battlestar Galactica" intro, a clip of a scene which has never actually aired before in any episode was played. Judging by Adama's rank insignia, it appears to be from the time when he was still a Commander. In the scene, Starbuck argues to Adama and Roslin that they must mount a rescue operation to save the Caprica Resistance, but Adama and Roslin are in agreement that it is impossible and tell her they can't. What episode this was originally meant for is unknown:

Though the technique was used well in this episode -- aside from the use of the same endpoint, with Starbuck and Scar charging toward each other, for both acts III and IV -- its apparent prevelance in the series here detracts from the episode. (However, [[RDM|RDM's]] [[podcast]] for Black Market indicates that beginning that episode with Lee's confrontation with Phelan was not part of the original script and was done as an act of "desperation".)
**It should also be noted that this episode's use of the technique involved going back and forth between the ending and the preceding events. In this respect, it more resembled [[Act of Contrition]] than either of the Season Two episodes mentioned above.

== Notes ==

*As most of this episode is told in flashback, the survivor count is a little confusing. The episode begins with Kat and Starbuck's final mission against Scar, then flashes back to 4 days earlier, within the teaser. The survivor count is then shown to be 4 less than last weeks. Does this include the pilots killed by Scar? (because most of what we seen in the episode happens in the "past"?)
**At least three people died onscreen in Black Market (Fisk, Phelan, and Fisk's killer), and there was more than 1 pilot killed by Scar, so presumably the survivor count is for the "96 hours previously" section.
*As the episode begins, mining ship ''[[Majahual]]'' has been conducting operations in a thick asteroid field for 29 days.
**The last time ''Pegasus'' was seen with [[the Fleet]] was approximately three days before the end of "[[Black Market]]", meaning mining this episode takes place a minimum of 26 days after that.
***Just because we the audience last saw ''Pegasus'' three days before the end of "Black Market" doesn't mean that the Fleet separated before the end of that episode. This episode could still take place over 29 days after the end of that.
*Kat is now qualified to fly Viper Mk. VIIs.
*New nuggets are still being trained and added to the fleet's ranks. Kat's assertion that "no replacements are coming" in "[[Final Cut]]" appears to no longer be relevant with the arrival of ''Pegasus'' and her resources.
**It was mentioned in "[[Act of Contrition]]" that ''Galactica'' didn't have any flight training simulators and so preferred to train pilots that had prior flight experience. With the arrival of Pegasus it is likely that the fleet now has Viper flight simulators and so pilots can now be trained more easily.
*Nuggets enter the [[Colonial Fleet]] at the rank of Ensign after completing flight training.
*Pilot training apparently takes place on ''Pegasus'', with recruits being assigned to ''Galactica'' afterward.
**This is probably a result of the circumstances imposed by ''Majahual's'' extended mining operation. ''Pegasus'' is outside of the combat zone, guarding the civilians, while Galactica was constantly on guard for attack. Logically, trainee pilots would not be deployed to the combat zone until after they got their wings. Now that they have finished mining and have moved on, training may continue on both.
*Kara Thrace retains the rank of captain, but is now serving as a pilot on ''Galactica'' under CAG Lee Adama.
**''Pegasus'' has Viper production facilities, one of her more modern capabilities that ''Galactica'' lacks. During the episode, the ''Pegasus'' production team finishes its first combat-ready Viper.
*Anders appears in flashbacks (re-used footage) in this episode.

During the following scene when they're talking about Scar in the pilot's loungeroom ("88 hours ago"), if you look closely in the backround, you can see [[Brendan Constanza|Hot Dog]] reading it, as he is supposed to have won the auction.
*Lee Adama doesn't fly in this episode, and is never seen in a flight suit. A lot of the day-to-day work of being the CAG, such as assigning and briefing pilots, falls to Starbuck.

Approximately 2,000 years ago, twelve of the thirteen tribes of [[Kobol]] settled on nearby worlds ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]). * Other than for dramatic purposes, why do Adama, Belloby and Boxey join the shuttle mission?
** Belloby has a romantic agenda that seems to involve getting some alone-time with Adama on the planet. As the owner of the energizer, she may have insisted that they accompany the mission.
** Apollo indicates that this mission isn't very dangerous, which is his excuse for including Boxey -- and he turns out to be right; Boxey's involvement is almost non-existant. Apollo was probaby as glad as the viewers are to not have to suffer through one more scene of Boxey pleading with Apollo and Apollo having to make excuses for Boxey's exclusion.

*Why do the Cylons so ruthlessly pursue the ''Galactica'' as the "last remnants of humanity" when, in reality, humans clearly exist in abundance everywhere they go. Nearly every episode has them encountering some forgotten "fringe colony" teeming with humanity, yet the Cylons turn a blind eye toward them and myopically follow the ''Galactica''.
*When Colonials encounter a planet such as Antilla (specifically, a planet populated with humans), why don't they become inquisitive about the human inhabitants? In other words, why don't they assume that they're getting closer to Earth? * If the attack destroyed internal communication, then how did Omega know so quickly (within [[Centon (TOS)|centons]]) that Boomer, Athena and Boxey were stranded in the rejuvenation center? In most disaster situations, when chaos is reigning, initial reports are very terse, with extremely limited and fragmented information.
* In sickbay, a crewman tells Cassiopia that he saw Boomer, Athena and Boxey "go in there [the rejuvenation center] right before the attack". But how is this possible, as they didn't enter together at the same time? When Boomer is first seen entering the room, Athena and Boxey were already comfortably camped out playing the shuffleboard game (which Boxey was winning, as they made a point of mentioning in the dialog). Perhaps the crewman couldn't remember correctly because his eyes were constantly being diverting down to Cassiopia's ... uniform; he couldn't quit glancing down at it, even while being led away.
* Why was the storage compartment of the rejuvenation center so large and accomodating? It seemed to be about half as big as the rejuvenation center itself. It even had its own phone.
* How did the technical crews so quickly adapt the boroton pressure pumps to the Vipers' laser turrets? It sounds like a feasible plan in the long run, but it also sounds like something that couldn't be done at the snap of the fingers, given that the equipment comes from two totally separate systems (military attack craft, firefighting equipment).
* After activating the device interfacing the megapressure pump system with the boroton firefighting system, why did the engineer walk away from the device, leaving it completely unattended. Indeed, the unit would fail at a critical point soon thereafter, greatly jeopardizing their chances for success.
* If Tigh ordered Omega to "have some mushies sent up" to the bridge, then why is he (Tigh) seen fetching them himself soon thereafter? * In the rejuvenation center, crew members are briefly seen playing a board game resembling a combination of chess and checkers. Instead of being a two-player game, though, there are four players, each sitting at an edge of the playing board.
* Other rejuvenation center games include Colonial variations of billiards (without cue sticks), table tennis and shuffleboard.
* Boomer and Boxey agree to play a game called "Compartment Bulyarks" but are interrupted by the attack.
* Unlike the [[Officer's Club]], the rejuvenation center is open to everyone aboard the ''Galactica'', from flight officers to crewmen; even civilians, children, and daggits appear welcome. Presumably (although not explicitly mentioned), people on vessels other than the ''Galactica'' may reserve time in the rejuvenation center (after a short shuttle hop to the battlestar).

Battlestar ''Pegasus'' was the second battlestar known to have survived the [[Battle of Cimtar|Cylon Attack]]. It was commanded by Commander [[Cain]], whom [[Viper|Viper]] pilots [[Bojay]] and [[Sheba]] served under. It was the only surviving ship from the [[Battle of Molecay]], meeting up with ''[[Galactica (TOS)|Galactica]]'' in [[The Living Legend, Part I (TOS)|The Living Legend]].

The military genius Cain lead the ship against two [[Cylon Basestar|Cylon Basestars]] to permit the ''[[Galactica]]'' and the Fleet to escape. The question of the survival of Cain and his battlestar was always in doubt, though it is generally assumed by the fandom that the ship survived.

Pegasus is derived from the Greek mythos. Pegasus was a winged horse-god who was the foal of Poseidon; this image of a winged horse is emblematic on the Helmet of ''Pegasus's'' [[Viper]] pilots in [[The Living Legend, Part I|The Living Legend]].

The episode opens with [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]] and [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]] being pursued by unidentifed objects from behind them in the heart of the [[Delphian Empire]]. The two objects are none other then two other [[Colonial]] [[Viper (TOS)|Vipers]] flown by Lieutenant [[Sheba]] (Anne Lockhart), and Lieutenant [[Bojay]] (Jack Stauffer). Just as Sheba and Bojay are about to finish off Apollo and Strabuck Sheba's scanner shows that the occupant of the viper she is pursuing is Human and orders a cease fire. In the ensuing dialogue Apollo and Starbuck are informed that Sheba is strike leader of Silver Spar Squadron and are re-united with Bojay who was part of ''[[Galactica (TOS)|Galactica]]'s'' [[Blue Squadron]] before he was transferred to the [[Fifth Fleet]] that perished at the [[Battle of Molecay (TOS)|Battle of Molocay]], two [[Yahren (TOS)|yahrens]] previous. Sheba and Bojay escort a bewildered Apollo and Starbuck aboard the ''[[Battlestar (TOS)|Battlestar]]'' ''[[Pegasus (TOS)| Pegasus]]'' in the command of the legendary Commander [[Cain (TOS)|Cain]].

Meanwhile on-board the ''Galactica'' Flight Sergeant [[Jolly]] reports to Commander [[Adama (TOS)|Adama]] that the fleet is low on fuel and Colonel [[Tigh (TOS)|Tigh]] reports that there is what appears to be scans of something massive, the size of a [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylon]] city not too far off. Adama orders the fleet to dead stop while awaiting word on the fate of Apollo and Starbuck's patrol.

Apollo and Starbuck are re-united with warriors aboard the ''Pegasus'' and are informed that Cain pulled the ''Pegasus'' out into deep space after the Battle of Molocay and that they have been fighting the Cylons and using fuel and weapons from the Cylons to fuel their own personal war efeffort. Colonel [[Tolan]], Cain's second in command takes Apollo and Starbuck to Cain's quarters and they are re-united with the "living legend" and inform Cain of the fate of the [[The Twelve Colonies (TOS)|Colonies]] and off the 220 ship rag-tag fleet. Cain now with information of the ''Galactica'' surviving the war declares that the Cylon Empire is about to fall as he plans to mount an offensive.

Aboard the ''Galactica'', [[Athena (TOS)|Athena]] informs Adama and Colonel Tigh that there is a visual echo coming from the scans ahead. The echo shows a battlestar. [[Omega]] then informs Adama of a message coming over Fleet Com-Line Alpha which is only used between war ships, so Adama feels the message is a hoax. Cain appears on the monitor and informs, much to the delight of Adama that he will be aboard shortly.

Cain boards the ''Galactica'' and re-unites Adama with Apollo and Starbuck and informs Adama that the Cylons now control [[Gamoray (TOS)|Gamoray]], a society once thriving with 50 million people. Which means the Cylons now control power over half the galaxy. Cain had been doing strike runs on Gamoray for fuel to fund his war campaign but could not figure out why they didn't send [[basestar]]s to finish him off, his answer was now clear, the renegade traffic the Cylons were having problems with was the ''Galactica'' and her fleet. Cain tries to get Adama to side with him in an effort to conquer the Cylons on Gamoray. But Adama declines citing the safety of the fleet as her main priority.

Back on board the ''Pegasus'', Cain meets with Starbuck and Apollo and asks about a woman he once knew before the war. It turns out the woman was [[Cassiopeia]] the woman Starbuck is involved with. Cain then introduces the two to Sheba, his daughter who intercepted Apollo and Starbuck.

After the meeting Apollo asks Starbuck what he plans to tell Cassiopea about Cain being alive. Starbuck pretty much brushes away any suggestion of her being romantically interested in Cain again, but meets with her and informs her of Cain being alive. She leaves to find Cain and is quickly re-united with him aboard the ''Pegasus''. They share a tender embrace and reminice and Cassipoea tells Cain about her relationship with Starbuck. She asks Cain for time for her to think. Back aboard the ''Galactica'' Apollo asks Starbuck how Cassiopea took the news and for the first time we find some background into Starbuck's character as we find out that he doesn't form deep attachments to people after being raised on his own. [[Boxey]] puts in his two cents in and says that Starbuck still has a bunch of other woman in waiting for him.

Back on the ''Pegasus'' Cain and Cassiopea talk about Sheba and how the relationship may cause issues between Cain and his daughter. Meanwhile in the [[warrior]] lounge Apollo and Starbuck meet with warriors from Silver Spar Squadron and Sheba and Apollo butt heads over the military differnces between Adama and Cain. Cain enters the lounge with Cassiopea and Sheba leaves, very uncomfortable with seeing her. Apollo confronts Sheba about it and Sheba says that working with Apollo won't be a problem.

A meeting of commanders is conveined and a plan is made to interecept Cylon Tankers to provide fuel for the fleet. Adama proposes to use a squadron from both battlestars, Cain declines at first and Adama informs him of the need for the warriors to integrate for the boost of morale. Cain agrees saying that his warriors would be glad to pass along their expeirence to the ''Galactica'' warriors. Apollo is surprised by Cain's arrogance and tells Adama the people think highly of him as a commander.

During pre-launch, Cain joins the mission to the suprise of Sheba. During the mission they are interecepted by a Cylon patrol. Blue Squadron almost seems at the mercy of the Cylons until Silver Spar Squadron helps out. Cain orders Blue Squadron to pursue while he goes off to take care of the tankers. Cain destroys the tankers and tells a dis-believing Apollo that he was firing at a cylon fighter. Back on board the ''Galactica'' Cain maintains his story during a meeting with Adama, Apollo and Sheba and also cites the in-experience of Blue Squadron. Cain now pushes the campaign against Gamoray to Adama and Adama tells Cain, rather tersley, that he will give his answer in the morning. Apollo knows the truth but can't speak it and confronts Sheba. When cornered Sheba maintains that the tankers were hit by incidental fire and Apollo tells her that he had found a weakness or two.

Another war meeting is conviened and Cain pushes harder for a total victory at Gamoray. Adama again delcines citing too many losses of life. Adama offers an alternative; the ''Pegasus'' is carrying a full fuel load and Adama wishes to divide that load amongst the fleet. Cain still feels a victory is possible. Adama is still not interested and orders the fuel to be distributed. Cain declines this offer and Adama relieves Cain of his command.

Aboard the ''Pegasus'' Sheba and Bojay speak with Cain about going against Adama's orders and Cain refuses citing that he may be a stubborn warrior but he is the best one and won't leave the fleet defenceless.

Aboard Baltar's basestar [[Lucifer]] informs [[Baltar (TOS)|Baltar]] of the finding of the trailing vessles of the Colonial Fleet. Baltar tells Lucifer to prepare of an attack to finally finish off the ''Galactica'' for good without support from Gamoray. All Baltar wants is a celebration from Gamoray and to take command of Gamoray for himself. Lucifer questions this plan and Baltar tells Lucifer that there are other [[Cylons (TOS)|IL-series]] robots that will gladly be at his side after the victory. Baltar then offers to accompany the strike force to punctuate his point of victory much to Lucifer's surprise.

Meanwhile Apollo, Starbuck, Boomer and Jolly board the ''Pegasus'' for the fuel distribution. Tolan and Tigh confer on the ''Pegasus'' bridge and Tolan wonders if they should wait until the bad moods on board from the warriors over the treatment of Cain subside. Tigh disagrees and orders the transfers to begin. On the ''Pegasus'' Landing Bay, the ''Galactica'' warriors are met by resistance from Silver Spar Squadron. Just as it looks they are about to come to blows a red alert is sounded and an attack begins by the Cylons.

On the ''Galactica'' bridge Cain and Adama meet and Adama and Cain agree to pull out the ''Pegasus'' and put her between the Cylon task force (the biggest one since the destruciton of the Colonies).

Cain flies his viper back to the ''Pegasus'' and lets Tolan and Tigh know he is taking back command of the ''Pegasus''. The ''Pegasus'' crew cheers and Tolan informs Tigh is nothing personal. Tigh understands and says "How can you fight a living legend?"

The ''Galactica'' takes heavy damage to her Alpha landing bay and just as it seems the Cylons are going to have their victory and Baltar declares the her is finished, his Cylon pilot informs Baltar of the second battlestar. Baltar doesn't beleive this and the Cylon again says that there is a second Battlestar. Baltar looks to his right and sees the ''Pegasus'' and orders his pilot to turn.

Earth is the alleged location of the [[13th Colony|Thirteenth Colony]], destination of the [[13th Tribe|Thirteenth Tribe]] of [[Kobol]], as attested in the [[Sacred Scrolls]]. Earth is first mentioned by [[Adama, William|Commander Adama]] during a speech made after funeral services in the wake of the devastating [[Cylon attack]] on the Twelve Colonies, claiming that it is a real place and that top military leadership knew its location (see [[Mini-series]]). In a private conversation with new President [[Laura Roslin]] immediately afterward, Adama admits that he has not the slightest idea where Earth may be, if it exists. His true motivation was inspirational; he intended to bolster the morale of the population (especially his beleaguered crew) in the aftermath of the [[Cylon attack|near-annihilation]] of humanity.

While she is initially skeptical, going so far as to rebuke Adama for his dishonesty, [[Laura Roslin|Roslin's]] faith grows perceptibly throughout the events of the first season. This transition is at least partly due to her use of the hallucinogen [[Chamalla]] as an alternative treatment to her terminal breast cancer. These hallucinations are increasingly interpreted as prophetic vision by Roslin, and they continue as the Fleet ultimately finds the legendary Kobol in [[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]. Eventually, a [[Arrow of Apollo|religious artifact]] is recovered which reveals clues of the location of Earth ([[Home, Part II]]).

In a mysterious chamber, the stars of the Twelve Colonies are represented in the twelve [[Wikipedia:Zodiac|Zodiacal]] constellations, as viewed from Earth, recognized by Roslin as the shapes of the original flags of the Twelve Colonies. The chamber itself was intended by its builders to be a stylized replica of the night sky of the Earth, from which all twelve Colonies could be seen. This is corroborated by [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]], who quotes [[Sacred Scrolls|scripture]], saying that Earth was the place where the people of the Thirteenth Tribe could look up into the sky and see their twelve brothers. [[Lee Adama|Captain Apollo]] also recognized the [[Wikipedia:Lagoon Nebula|Lagoon Nebula]], also represented in the night sky of the mystery chamber. Apparently this astronomical object is known to Fleet personnel, since [[William Adama|Commander Adama]] remarked that this celestial body would take some time to reach.

As stated in the [[Book of the Word]], the [[13th Tribe|Thirteenth Tribe]] left opposite the other [[Twelve Colonies|Twelve Tribes]], the information of their destination residing in the tomb of the [[Ninth Lord of Kobol]]. ([[Lost Planet of the Gods]])

Transmissions from Earth -- i.e. the [[Wikipedia:Project Apollo|Apollo Moon Landing]] -- were picked up by [[Apollo (TOS)|Captain Apollo]] in the [[Celestial Temples|Celestial Temple]] on an obsolete [[Gamma frequency]], though the copy of the transmission was destroyed in the attack on the [[basestar (TOS)|Cylon basestar]]. ([[The Hand of God (TOS)|The Hand of God]])

Technology from Earth appears to be present at [[Athena (TOS)|Athena]]'s station in [[Saga of a Star World]]. As she runs a diagnostic on [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]]'s Viper the words MADE IN USA appear on the screen. This appears to indicate the diagnostic program may have been left over from a time when Colonials had contact with Earth. An alternate explanation is that USA could coincidently be a region on one of the colonies.

* In ''[[Galactica 1980]]'', Earth was discovered, but, much to the dismay of Adama and the survivors, the humans on Earth were underdeveloped and would not be able to defend themselves from the [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylons]].

* In one of the ''extras'' included on the five-disc DVD release of the first season of [[Battlestar Galactica (RDM)|Battlestar Galactica]], Edward James Olmos (the actor portraying [[William Adama|Commander Adama]]) remarks in a very jocular fashion that they will never reach Earth. Mary McDonnell (the actress who plays [[Laura Roslin]]) covers his mouth and tries to hush him while laughing. Although loyal fans may question the trustworthiness of this statement, it is known that the creators keep a "Bible" to the show, to which the actors presumably have access.

* Tigh notifies Adama of a blip on the scanner in quadrant Delta Nine, behind the fleet. Adama sees it and orders a patrol to investigate. The blip is a [[Cylon Raider]] awaiting a patrol so they can capture a [[Colonial Warrior]].

* Tigh pulls Apollo and Starbuck for the mission and Serina informs them that she is Apollo's wingman much to Apollo and Tigh's surprise. Starbuck wishes them well but instead of heading back to quarters he heads for the launch bay followed shortly by Apollo and Serina.

* Starbuck launches in Apollo's viper stating to the flight deck officer that he took Apollo's patrol for him. Apollo and Serina launch shortly after. Apollo orders Serina back to the Galactica and she refuses. The three venture out together.

* Starbuck ends up going beyond Apollo and Serina's scanner range and is captured by the Cylons.

* On board the basestar Starbuck interacts with [[Lucifer]] and lights a match on a Cylon [[Centurion]] for his [[fumarello]]. Lucifer playfully warns Starbuck it would go well for him if he showed a little respect. Starbuck to his suprise meets [[Baltar (TOS)|Baltar]].

* Baltar informs him that there is a change in the [[Cylon Empire]] favorable to humans and that he is there as an envoy of peace and will release Starbuck at the right moment.

* Lucifer and Baltar disuss Baltar's scheme to lure the humans into his trap.

* Back on board ''Galactica'' Apollo watches the scanners for Starbuck. Serina comforts him and says they should not wait any longer to get sealed and says that Starbuck would understand and approve.

* Adama performs the ceremony, Boxey as the protector gives Serina away. During the ceremony a bright star appears and Adama orders Tigh to scan for a planet in orbit. Apollo asks Adama what it could be and Adama says it could be the planet [[Kobol#Kobol In the Original Series|Kobol]].

* The colonials land on the surface of the planet, where there are pyramids and ruins. Adama chooses a site for a camp, and posts a guard even though the planet is supposed to be dead.

* Lucifer reports to Baltar that a star has appeared and guided ''Galactica'' to a dead planet. Baltar recognizes a chance to spring a trap, and orders Lucifer to prepare his craft. He will go alone, for only he can bring ''Galactica'' back to the [[Imperious Leader]].

* Adama, Serina, and Apollo explore the ruins. Adama suspects that it might be [[Eden]], the largest city and the first to fall. Adama recognizes the seal of the [[Ninth Lord of Kobol]]. He was the last leader of Kobol before the thirteen tribes went to the stars. Apollo realizes that Adama is hoping to find the location of the thirteenth tribe (and [[Earth]]) by looking here.

* The three find the entrance to the [[Tomb of the Ninth Lord of Kobol]], which bears a warning of death for those that enter. Serina recognizes that Adama's medallion is the same as the seal on the tomb, and it acts as a key to open it.

* They find the bodies of tomb robbers, and then are trapped by bars that descend, but lift when Adama uses his medallion again. They enter a room that appears to contain a sarcophagus.

* Baltar enters through a different door, greeting Adama. Adama lunges at him, trying to strangle the traitor. Apollo pulls him off of Baltar, saying that he should be left to the council.

* Baltar claims that he did not betray the colonies, and that Adama has been slandering him. He says he was trapped between his battlestar and ''Atlantia'', and was tried by the Cylons. He claims that he was spared to lure them into another trap through a message of peace through a new and more benevolent Cylon ruler.

* He claims that the Cylon forces are spread so thin looking for ''Galactica'' that the route to the Cylon homeworld is almost undefended. He says that a single battlestar could bring the [[Cylon Empire]] to its knees. He has the means to lead ''Galactica'' back to the Cylons as apparent prisoners, in order to launch a devastating counterattack. As proof of his good intentions, he has released Starbuck.

* Adama orders Apollo to remove him. Adama says that safety does not lay behind them, with either Baltar or the Cylons, but somewhere "out there" along the path taken by the thirteenth tribe, who founded [[Earth]].

* Baltar believes that Earth is a myth, but Adama believes it to be real, and believes the key is somewhere in the tomb.

* Back on the basestar, a Centurion reports that the prisoner (Starbuck) has been released. Lucifer (who is now sitting in Baltar's throne) inquires about Baltar, but the Centurion has not heard anything back from him. Lucifer concludes that Baltar's plan has failed. He speculates about the possible power gain he might make if there were a decisive military victory under his leadership.

* Starbuck returns to the camp, much to the joy of [[Athena (TOS)|Athena]]. He lets the colonials know that there is a basestar just outside sensor range, causing Apollo to order the breaking of the camp.

* Apollo brings Baltar back to Adama in the tomb. He informs Adama of the basestar that is just beyond range, suggesting they leave while the star is still dormant and shielding them from sensors. Adama refuses, as he wants to discover the path to Earth. Baltar claims that Earth might be a "myth of half-drunken star voyagers". He claims they must attack the Cylons and seize power.

* The star begins pulsing again, and reflects off of Adama's medallion, causing what appeared to be the tomb to retract revealing a staircase. Baltar rushes down the steps, pursued by Adama, Apollo, and Serina.

* Baltar pries off the lid sarcophagus, despite Apollo and Adama's protests, and seizes the scepter out of the hand of the mummy. He claims not to believe in all that "primitive superstition."

* The room starts shaking and a large stone block seals them into the tomb. Baltar apologizes, claiming that he didn't mean it, but the damage is done. He appeals to Adama to use his power, since the lords are with him, but Adama can do nothing.

* Cylon raiders begin attacking the colonials on the surface. The female Viper pilots at the camp (as well as Starbuck) get into their Vipers and take off.

* Back on ''Galactica'', the male warriors have recovered from their illness. They are hardly strong enough to stand, but Boomer points that Vipers are flown from the seated position.

* The female warriors begin to fight off the raiders as the male warriors begin to launch from ''Galactica''.

* Adama discovers the passages he had been searching for regarding the exodus of the thirteenth tribe in the last days of Kobol. As he gets to the part about where they went, a raider shoots the tomb causing the room to shake.

* A door has been blasted open by the explosion, but the writing has disintegrated. Baltar is pinned under a block of fallen stone.

* The male warriors join the combat, and the colonials start dealing heavy losses to the raiders.

* Adama, Apollo, and Serina are unable to move the stone that pins Baltar. They are forced to leave Baltar. Adama says that Baltar's friends (the Cylons) have sealed his fate as well as theirs. Baltar threatens to tear Lucifer apart, and claims that he has not heard the last of Baltar.

* The raiders are routed, and the Vipers are recalled to ''Galactica''.

* Starbuck and [[Deitra]] encounter Adama, Apollo, and Serina as they exit the tomb. Starbuck reports that they lost some good pilots, and that they should get back to ''Galactica'' before reinforcements arrive.

* A Centurion steps out behind some cover and shoots Serina in the back. The colonials return fire, killing both Centurions, but the damage is done.

* Back aboard ''Galactica'', [[Boxey (TOS)|Boxey]] is brought to Serina, who is laying on a medical table. Serina admits that she is "going away", but tells Boxey that his father (Apollo) will be there to love him and take care of him.

* Apollo and Serina say their goodbyes in private, and when Apollo emerges from the room Serina is dead.

* Apollo tells Boxey that they'll have Serina's love forever, and that he will make a fine warrior.

* They walk off down the hallway together, holding hands.

*Receiving a mysterious radio signal possibly from Earth, Adama and the crew are wary of a Cylon trap, and decide to turn the tables by attacking the Cylons with a stolen Cylon Raider. Apollo and Starbuck, in the series finale's last scene, narrowly miss receiving Apollo-11 moon-landing transmissions from Earth.

== Questions ==

*Boomer speculated that the signal they recorded could have been on a harmonic frequency, doubling or quadrupling the original frequency. If it was a harmonic it came from nearby. The planetary system they scouted had a large Jupiter like gas giant, a Venus like planet with a compressed carbon dioxide atmosphere, and a lifeless red Mars like world. It could have been our solar system but wasn't explored further for fear another Cylon basestar might be coming to investigate.
*Baltar was to have been marooned on a planet capable of sustaining life with rations and a short range transmitter. Were the Cylons to have rescued him so he could resume command of a basestar in season two?

* If and when the Galactica had reached Earth (No Galactica 1980) it would be easy to speculate that the Earth would indeed be far enough long tecnologically and politcally to help their brothers from the Colonies since the transmission received came from the Earth time of July 20th, 1969. Enough time would have passed given the theories of time and space that indeed the Earth would have matured. It would have been interesting if Glen Larson was intending his two Sci-Fi series (Galactica and Buck Rogers) to merge together somewhere down the road.

* Some open ended questions were left. What was the true fate of Baltar? Where was Apollo and Sheba's relationship going? Would Starbuck and Cassiopea take the seal? It's really a shame the series was ended at this point as alot of interesting plot developments were beginning.

* Overall a very good episode and it seemed to show from this episode that the series was beginning to finally come together, relationships were being developed and cemented, characters were coming into their own and future plot lines were beginning to take shape that would have given the series life.

* Had the series been done in the 90's along with other shows like Star Trek:TNG and Babylon 5, etc. the show probably would have lasted five or more seasons and it would have been a well rounded television show with great characters and stories.

* It would be nice to have an updated tele-movie or even a series of direct to DVD releases to give this franchise a proper send-off. Richard Hatch's novels are a great continuation of TOS even if there are some slight plot errors (such as Rigel being male) and his [[Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming|self made promo video for the contiuation of the series]] are all nice teasers and fillers. But a true movie or mini-series should be made to wrap things up. There is room for both "Galactica" series.

Doctor Horning was a [[Terra]] [[Nationalist]] officer with a medical and, evidently, a technological doctorate. He examined [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]] and the equipment he carried when apprehended by officer [[Brace]]. He pronounced Apollo fit and tried to make sense of the Colonial equipment. He was confused by the queries from [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]] for Apollo he had heard over Apollo's communicator, both of whom later retrieved the equipment from Horning's examination room. John was a [[Being of Light]] whom informed [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]] of the situation on [[Terra]], hoping that Apollo would be able to resolve it peacefully. His chief concern was that any outcome concerning the planet would have drastic intergalactic consequences. Although we don't know what those were, it is presumed that the Terrans are instrumental in some sort of long-term plan.

John told Apollo that his "physical appearance" was a reflection of intelligence (i.e., spirit), and that he could do nothing outside the colossus; ergo Apollo's assistance. John, like any other Being, apparently could cause memory blocks and unblock them, as well as work through them by giving them a protective aura. He also commented on the fact that he needed humor in order to communicate with other "child" races.

In the apartment of [[Brenda Maxwell]], Apollo was talking to John, who couldn't be heard or seen by anyone else; thus Apollo, under the guise of [[Charlie Watts]], was made to look a bit mentally unstable. John was instrumental in also recruiting [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]], who could hear him, but only see him after John gave him the protective aura.

Ironically, John's actions of having Apollo solve the situation peaceably were to no avail as the [[Galactica (TOS)|''Galactica'']]'s intervention forced the [[Eastern Alliance]] to accept the peace accord from the [[Nationalists]]. John did admit, however, after some pestering from Apollo, that Terra wasn't [[Earth]] and that they still had a long, interesting journey ahead of them. Evidently, the John character goes against the pre-established information given in "[[War of the Gods]]", for [[Iblis]] had a physical body outside of any [[Ship of Lights]] or anything remotely similar. This being the case, either John was lying or the Beings that are inclined to pure good do not have the capacity of a "physical" body outside of the Ship of Lights.

Additionally, it is interesting that Starbuck managed to hear John, albeit unable to see him until John touched him. (Yes, John touched Starbuck within the physical laws of the Universe, as Starbuck reacted to it.) Disproving yet again that he (and presumably other Beings of Light) can attempt some form of physical contact, at least on some level. Although Starbuck's past experience ([[War of the Gods]]) with the Beings may have something to do with it...

There is the possible hypothesis that John happens to be a young, maturing Being that could only be hundred or so [[yahren]] old. Thus, to use an antiquated Earth belief, John may not have his "angel wings". The Beings "angel wings" may quite possibly be similar to Iblis' demonstrated attributes, in the manner of physical contact outside the influence of the Ship or similar environment. Still this is not part of the canon, regrettably, and also proves that the writers of this Terra "mini-arch" didn't know where they were going -- at least in this writer's point of view.

People tend to ignore certain instances in the episode ([[Experiment in Terra (TOS)|Experiment in Terra]]) that featured John (Edward Mulhare), neither being fan favorites. There is particular chaff concerning the inconsistencies between this episode and the information provided in "[[War of the Gods]]" (one of the top fan-favorite episodes).

General Maxwell

General Maxwell is a career military officer for the [[Nationalists]] of [[Terra]] as well as father to [[Maxwell, Brenda|Brenda Maxwell]], his only child apparently. He knew Colonel [[Charlie Watts]], and probably was his subordinate, along with Colonel [[Stone]], whom he called "Stoney". He had some sort of friendship with President [[Arends]], whom he was forced to investigate later on after Arends began shutting out the [[Presidium|Nationalist Presidium]]. He attempted to bypass the [[Eastern Alliance]] forces of [[Lunar One]] to gather intelligence on the happenings there. His reconnisance mission failed and he returned to Terra.

After returning to Terra, he visited his daughter who told him that Charlie (actually [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]]) was also back on Terra. With this knowledge, he would have vital information to report, however [[Brace]] and his officers took "Charlie" away after Brenda contacted them. He chastised her, not that it mattered, as he and Brenda were captured and brought to "Charlie". Apollo tried to convince the three Terrans that he wasn't Charlie Watts, but failed until [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]] rescued them.

General Maxwell, Stone and the [[Warriors]] attempted to get an audience with President Arends, but were unable to do so alone. In front of the entire Presidium, he and, later on, Apollo attempted to convince Arends and the Presidium members that the Nationalists would not agree to the peace treaty. Sure enough, they were right, and as the members of the Presidium fled vainly to shelter from the nuclear weaponry, Maxwell derisively told Arends to frame the treaty because they would all be dead within six minutes.

The [[Galactica (TOS)|''Galactica'']], however, managed to destroy all the nuclear weaponry, scaring the Alliance into accepting the peace accord. When Maxwell tried to thank Apollo and solicit Colonial technology, [[John]] had pulled him out of the Presidium. ([[Experiment in Terra]])

Born in Santa Monica, California, on May 21, 1945, Richard Hatch was studying classical piano at the age of eight. In high school, he was a keen athelete, and hoped to participate in the Olympics as a pole vaulter.

However, following the assassination of John F. Kennedy, he read an article about the slain president to the rest of his oral interpretation class at school, and found himself orating and almost acting as he read. This lead him to enrolling in the Eric Morris Actors' Workshop a few years later. While he was uncertain about taking up acting as a career, he changed his mind after appearing a in version of the Tennessee Williams one-act play "This Property is Condemned".

His television career started in earnest in 1970, when he was cast as "Philip Brent" in the original series of ''All My Children'' (1970). following this, he took guest roles in the leading genre shows of the 1970s: ''Canon, Hawaii Five-O, Barnaby Jones, The Rookies'' and ''Medical Centre'', as well as appearing in shows such as ''Kung Fu'', ''MacGyver'' and ''The Waltons''.

In 1976 he was cast opposite Karl Malden in ''The Streets of San Francisco'', in which he replaced Michael Douglas for the final two seasons of the show. Following this, he was cast in the role of [[Captain Apollo]] in the [[Original Series|original Battlestar Galactica]] series - a role for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe.

Away from acting, Richard Hatch lectures on a range of subjects, including: overcoming fear and producing powerful results, success strategies for business and life, and becoming a powerful, dynamic and compelling communicator. He created the "Breakthrough to Success Bootcamps", which inspire people to achieve a more productive and positive lifestyle.

Since the end of the original series of ''Battlestar Galactica'', Hatch has demostrated his love of the show by writing tie-in books, and working to bring about a [[continuation]] of the original series. Amongst writing [[List of books|books]], numbering seven as of this writing, he also produced and starred in a promotional trailer called ''[[Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming]]'', which was shown at SF conventions to much acclaim. While he was initially openly sceptical about the [[Re-imagined|new ''Battlestar Galactica'']] series, he has recognised it as a different interpretation of the ''[[Galactica]]'''s voyages and accepted it to the point of appearing in the recurring role of Tom Zarek.

Brenda Maxwell

Brenda Maxwell was the daughter of career [[Nationalist]] military officer [[General Maxwell]]. Prior to his disappearance, Brenda was romantically involved with Colonel [[Charlie Watts]].

Brenda first met [[Apollo (TOS)|Apollo]] (who appeared to be Charlie), under the impression that she was phoned. She picked up "Charile", who appeared to be downright confused (obviously, as Apollo knew nothing of [[Terra]]), and rode him back to her apartment.

Since she was so concerned about Charlie, she contacted the Nationalist Security force, and officer [[Brace]] picked up Apollo. [[General Maxwell]] later came to her, lambasting her since she turned in what they both believed to be "Charlie". However, they could do little about it as they too were taken to the Nationalist government building.

After being incarcerated together, Apollo and [[Starbuck (TOS)|Starbuck]] managed to convince the Terrans that they were indeed from another galaxy all together. Starbuck had Brenda drive him to the site where he landed, aiming to prove that they were indeed "extraterrestrial". Despite managing to find the [[Viper (TOS)|Viper]], almost before it was too late, Brenda couldn't believe that the story was true.

It appears, however, that she never put everything together, at least during Apollo's visit there. ([[Experiment in Terra]])

The stealth features of the [[Blackbird]] allow her to fly to and within the superstructure of the [[Unknown Cylon Ship]], taking pictures along the way. Just before leaving the superstructure, she [[FTL|Jumps]] away to safety and the [[Fleet]].
*Thrace returns from her unsanctioned reconnaissance of the Cylon fleet in the middle of Adama and Cain's standoff, with recon images of the [[Unknown Cylon Ship]]. Her return appears on [[DRADIS]] as a [[Raider]] and causes Viper squadrons from both ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' and ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'' to stop a deadly game of "chicken", with neither side firing unless fired upon.

Adama smiles and says that he couldn't think of her as a blonde, but Roslin smiles and says he'd be surprised.
*Cain finds Thrace's initiative laudable, and promotes her to Captain and [[CAG]] ''Pegasus'' over [[Cole Taylor]]. She initially pulls [[Lee Adama]]'s flight status, but restores it a Thrace's behest and assigns him to her team. Thrace begins plans on an attack on the Resurrection Ship.
*[[Helo]] and [[Galen Tyrol]] are pleasantly surprised not to be dead. Lee Adama visits the two and catches them up on events, noting that his father pulled out the stops to ensure Helo's and Tyrol's survival.
*Thrace briefs the battlestar commanders on the attack plan. Adama consults with Thrace privately, asking her to shoot Cain in the head after the attack. Likewise, Cain instructs [[Jack Fisk]] to shoot Adama and his command after the attack after she transfers Fisk and a squad of Marines loyal to her to ''Galactica.''

== Questions ==
* Why doesn't Cain and her crew grasp the concept that survival of the human race supersedes the military way of life?
** Adama had similar ideas in the [[Miniseries]] until Roslin talked him out of it.
* If Dr. [[Cottle]] were to perform a psychological examination on Cain, could Adama strip her of command for medical reasons?
**Adama could have just had Roslin strip her of her rank because she's Commander-in-Chief; it doesn't matter: Cain's hold over Pegasus is so tight it would be fluffed off. Also, Cain is not clinically insane. It's not just "insane" humans who do evil things in wartime. Cain does bad things, and she doesn't have the excuse of not being in command of her mental faculties.
* Has Roslin's illness has brought her to terminally important attitudes on life and death? Unlike the option to kill the prisoners on the ''[[Astral Queen]]'' ([[Miniseries]]), Roslin does not hesitate to suggest to Adama to kill Cain.
**These two issues are not morally equivalent. The prisoners on ''Astral Queen'' were not posing an immediate threat to the safety of the fleet, as Cain and ''Pegasus'' were.
*Why does Commander Adama rely on gossip from Cally and Tigh, rather than debriefing Laird personally?
**Maybe Laird was so scared/broken in by Cain that he would be unwilling to say anything against Cain out of fear; thus Tigh had to ask Fisk.
**Were Laird's wife and possibly children executed on the ''Scylla'' because he was one of the two who resisted the ''Pegasus'' marine team?
*When did the Resurrection Ship begin following the Fleet? Was it able to rescue [[Aaron Doral#Suicide Bomber Copy|Aaron Doral (Suicide Bomber Copy)]] (killed day 17), [[Number Six#Shelly Godfrey|Shelly Godfrey]] (disappeared day 24), [[Leoben Conoy#Gemenon Traveler Copy|Leoben Conoy (Gemenon Traveler Copy)]] (killed day 25), or [[Sharon Valerii#Galactica Copy|Sharon Valerii (Galactica Copy)]] (killed c. day 54)?
* [[Starbuck]] got some pretty close shots of the [[Resurrection Ship]], so much so that [[Helena_Cain|Admiral Cain]] was able to ID the [[Humano-Cylon]] "Gina" (a.k.a. [[Number Six]]). Could any of the other [[Humano-Cylon]] models be identified, including the ones that the Fleet aren't aware of yet?
**Although logically possible, from a storywriting standpoint they were probably not lucky enough for that.
*Since Lee Adama was ultimately to be included in the mission to assassinate Cain anyway, why didn't his father deign to brief him at the same time as Kara Thrace? Having Thrace fill him in later doubles the chance of their plans being overheard.
**Since Starbuck is the ''Pegasus'' CAG, Adama has an excuse to ask her to stay. If he'd asked for her ''and'' Lee, it likely would have raised suspisions.
*Baltar said that he's tired of the fantasy-world in his head that he retreats into; not of Number Six herself, but of his bachelor pad on Caprica. Is this a further sign that Baltar is shifting closer into the Cylon camp? It could mean that he no longer misses his old life on Caprica and has stopped clinging to it.
*To what extent is the chain of command still in effect? Adama fully intends to have Cain killed, but still stops short of demanding Agathon and Tyrol's return, and Cain believes he will still accept Fisk's transfer to Galactica as a spy.
*Will Fisk carry out his order to have ''Pegasus'' marines execute ''Galactica'''s entire command staff? He seems to have found a friend in Col. Tigh, someone who he is more than willing to share otherwise privilaged information with and he does seem to be Cain's voice of reason.
*Is Admiral Cain telling the truth when she says to Starbuck that their "ultimate goal" is to return to the [[Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies]] and liberate them from the Cylons?
**On the one hand, she may be playing on Starbuck's desire to rescue the [[Resistance (movement)|Caprican Resistance]] led by [[Anders]] in order to lure Starbuck over to her allegiance (Cain was impressed by Starbuck's brazen recon mision, and now views her as a valuable asset).
**On the other hand, this is consistent with Admiral Cain's behavior so far: while ''Galactica's'' crew realized they had no hope of taking back the Colonies and left to try to find Earth, Pegasus has actually been engaging Cylon forces on the outskirts of the occupied 12 Colonies for months. Cain does truly seem to want to "take the fight to the Cylons", as it were, and fight to reclaim the 12 Colonies.
***Even if she is being honest about that, her comment to Starbuck that Anders' resistance "deserves to be saved" seems almost definitely just to be Cain manipulating Starbuck: As evidenced by Cain's treatment of her own [[Scylla|small civilian fleet]], she has completely prioritized the military assets of ''Pegasus'' over the well-being of any other small group of people.
***Even if Admiral Cain was able to lead the Fleet in successfully forcing the Cylons out of the 12 Colonies, doesn't she realize that they've ''already'' been nuked and are currently inhospitably irradiated? The few people left on the colonies need anti-radiation medication to survive there, there's only a finite supply of these and it's doubtful that they have any production facilities they could use.

== Analysis ==
This episode fails to skip a beat from the mid-season closer. With ''Galactica's'' and ''Pegasus''' Vipers in a scary game of chicken, the level of tension borders on the "fish in a blender" scenario.

Admiral Cain is clearly showing signs of stress indicative of some kind of sociopathic disorder; her orders and desire to follow the military way overshadow any compassion or understanding of the reality of her situation. She fails to understand that killing Helo and Tyrol worsens the Fleet, as she cannot simply find a suitable replacement.

The star of this show, albeit briefly appearing, is Mary McDonnell's Roslin. Like her namesake Blackbird itself, Roslin shows her toughness in staring down Cain ''and'' Adama, who actually looks ''ashamed'' in his actions while Roslin reads both "the riot act." Were not for the situation, Roslin's second talk with Adama, maybe the first time that Roslin does not appear with Adama in regular clothing, very casual, and obviously ill, seemed more like two old friends. Adama does something viewers have rarely seen with Roslin--his face relaxes and shows humor, sympathy, perhaps even sadness at Roslin's illness and her strength in looking her illness in the face and denying it anyway. He offers his hand and she accepts with a squeeze before she leaves. It seems in this moment that Roslin and Adama exchanged more romantic chemistry than the writer's attempts to do the same with Adama's son and Kara Thrace.

Baltar was generally neutral in this episode, playing both sides, Adama and Cain, Colonial and Cylon, to the advantage of all. His motives in saving Gina are still in doubt, and viewers are likely to see more development here.

Viewers are likely more interested not in the upcoming battle, now a more evenly matched fight between Colonial and Cylon (all things considered--[[basestar]]s generate Raiders like rabbits generate offspring), but in the battle for control of the Fleet, with both Adama and Cain performing similar strategies to kill the other.

*Cain wonders if debating morality is what Roslin and Adama have been doing "for the past six months"; however, as explained in the article [[Timeline (RDM)]], this episode only takes place a little over ''three'' months after the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]]. Specifically, the beginning of "[[Flight of the Phoenix]]" took place 30 days after "[[Resistance]]", when the crashed Raptor team returned from Kobol, which took place less than a week after "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]", which explicitly stated to take place 51 days after [[Helo]] was stranded on Caprica in the [[Miniseries]]. In "Flight of the Phoenix", Roslin was told that her cancer had advanced aggressively, and she had a month to live "at the outside". The idea that the episode "[[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]" (which took place immediatly before this one) took place ''three months'' after "Flight of the Phoenix" thus seems entirely impossible. This line should probably be regarded as exaggeration, or just a goof.

*Pilot [[Louanne Katraine]] has apparently got her groove back from "[[Final Cut]]", and has become the lead pilot on ''Galactica'' following the transfer of Lee Adama and Kara Thrace to ''Pegasus''. Given that the ungifted [[George Birch]] was apparently the best to be found within ''Galactica's'' regular chain of command ([[Home, Part I]]), it's unsurprising that a talented nugget has risen to the top.
**In hindsight, her abuse of stims is actually in line with the single-minded zeal she approaches her job with. She has apparently learned to channel her perfectionism into a more constructive outlet.

*Both Adama and Cain's assassination plans (taking advantage of a victory celebration in CIC) are exactly the same as the one used by Galactica-Boomer in Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II.
