*"[[Exodus, Part II|Exodus]]": Best episode ever... that one had it all. [[Ellen Tigh|Ellen]]'s death-scene had me in tears (never expected ''that'' to happen! – never cared for the character).
*Favorite characters: [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]] and [[Galen Tyrol|Tyrol]]. Damn them for making them Cylons: Stupidest plot device ever. I loved what they did with Tigh in the [[Season 3 (2006-07)|Season 3]] opening arc ("[[Occupation]]" through "[[Torn]]"). Tigh used to be my least favorite character. That made him my favorite, hands-down. (Except, again, I don't like them "turning out" to be Cylons.)

[[Caprica (series)|''Caprica'']] has grown; I'm just about hooked. The Graystones ([[Daniel Graystone|Daniel]] and [[Amanda Graystone|Amanda]]) strike me as the most interesting characters (my favorites). [[Lacy Rand|Lacy]] has potential. Still not ''BSG'' – lacks much of the latter's grittiness and dark, mystical impact – though that may change in the next season.

[[Baxter Sarno]] charged the game with contributing to the moral decline of [[Caprica City]] that led, in part, to the bombing of [[Lev|Maglev No. 23]]. ([[Gravedancing]])

New Cap City is a virtual recreation of Caprica City, but darker and with a violent mob atmosphere. The simulation is updated to reflect current events, such as the Maglev 23 bombing. The objective of the game, if it has one, is currently unknown. Some players believe that the goal is to acquire items – like money and weapons – which can be converted into points. Others believe that discovering the objective of the game is, in fact, the objective of the game. Players who are "killed" in the game subsequently wake up in reality, and are unable to reload their avatars into ''New Cap City''.

After the death of [[Tamara Adama]] aboard [[Lev|Maglev No. 23]], [[Daniel Graystone]] used software developed by his own deceased [[Zoe Graystone|daughter]] to create an [[Holographic avatar|avatar]] of Adama at the request of her [[Joseph Adama|father]]. [[Tamara-A|That avatar]] was later found in an unprogrammed space by [[Lacy Rand]] and Zoe Graystone's [[Zoe-A|avatar]], who helped Tamara escape into the larger virtual world, where she sought out the gamer [[Vesta]] in order to wake up. Discovering Tamara's unique ability to recover from game-inflicted damage, Vesta offered Tamara a trade: If Tamara-A helped Vesta in ''New Cap City'', Vesta would help find a way to wake Tamara in the real world.

Tamara traveled to the game along with another of Vesta's underlings, [[Tad|Heracles]], in order to "steal" the avatar of another high-ranking gamer named [[Chiron]]. Tamara and Heracles found Chiron at a speakeasy, where Tamara distracted him and his guards by posing as a jilted girlfriend while Heracles took a digital copy of Chiron's avatar. Tamara was shot in the altercation, but Heracles extracted her from the club, and demonstrated his new ability to shift between his own avatar and Chiron's. The two later visited a bank where Chiron kept a vault, and after dismissing the guards, Tamara entered a code which Vesta had discovered inscribed on manhole covers around the city.

Heracles proceeded to collect as much of Chiron's money as possible before the bank alarm sounded and two guards rushed into the vault. Tamara pushed Heracles to the ground as the guards opened fire and was hit with several rounds before summoning her own will to alter the code of the game, forcibly derezzing the guards before collapsing.

After the robbery, Tamara learned from Vesta that she had died in the Maglev bombing and could not be woken in the real world. Discovering that Vesta intended to continue using her as a pawn in the game, Tamara used Heracles' weapons to kill everyone in the room except Vesta, then instructed Heracles to return to the real world and tell [[Joseph Adama]] that she was trapped in v-world. After Heracles removed his holoband, Tamara told Vesta that she was "awake" and shot her, ejecting Vesta from the game. ([[There Is Another Sky]])

Firstly i'd like to congratulate you on a top notch job on Battlestar wiki. It never dissapoints and it looks super slick. stupidly enough, i've left it until very recently to actually register, as opposed to just visiting all the time. I'd like to thank you for taking time to read this also and I hope I have not wasted your time by the end of the post.

Basically, I need you help. I am re-creating the BSG seal that sits nicely above the CiC door. I am making it out of wood and all the pieces you see on it are all individually shaped, sprayed, and then assembled. creating the pieces, eg. the caprican crest in the centre are not hard to make. the proplem is the colours used for the paint. I cannot get an accurate reading from a picture of the real thing and most other pictures have a light shining down on it and distorts the colour.

would you, or any of your colleagues know where I could find out the colour chart? it would be greatly appreciated. I am creating it for use in my own home. something to spruce the place up a bit.

I read your comment and wanted to ask if you even looked at the reasoning behind my changes. I'm glad to know somebody is here who actually has reliable information because admittedly a lot of what I've got is based on speculation. However as I commented to Serenity, I think it unfair that he constantly reverses all my changes without even looking at them (this isn't the only page I've battled with him over) and I feel like you just did the same thing. If you are going to lock it ok but at least look at the two conflicting versions and decide which parts of each should go up in the interim, because they way it is now, it's simply not fair. I believe some of my changes warrant being up there now such as my removal of ranks for which their is no support at all (Vice Admiral and Senior Chief Petty Officer) and the addition of certain people to the rank lists. I have felt from the time I joined like I couldn't do anything, any changes I made were promptly undone and I felt like if I complained I'd get booted out entirely since he is an administrator, if you want a truely open community everybody has to feel like they can participate and to tell you the truth, I have not felt that way at all. I know you don't want me to take it personally, but if you were in my position, wouldn't you?
: A couple things... I understand where you're coming from. I do see that Serenity contacted you earlier this month via your talk page, explaining his reasons why he reverted your changes when you joined. (You're fear of retribution for offering criticism or complaint is unwarranted, and something you projected upon yourself; simply put, you didn't know either way, but assumed the worst. We can't control that. Fact of the matter is that you didn't respond to him the first time.) That being said, I will ask you this: what would you have done if our roles were reversed?
: As for the issue of reviewing your edits, I did review them. you did make massive changes that were incorrect both factually and aesthetically. There actually is a "senior chief petty officer" rank, for instance, and there is logic behind there being a "vice admiral" rank (or similar, it may be called "senior admiral"), since it's been established that there's a "rear admiral". Further, there was absolutely no need for the "Razor, Part I" and "Razor, Part II" designations you've assigned, since "Razor" is one whole episode. (It has two production numbers for budgetary reasons, since they had to rebuild the sets for "Pegasus" after they'd been struck after Season 3. The production team members I've talked to considers that outing an interesting experience.) Not to mention the capitalization issues that you've added back in—it is bad form to capitalize ranks or titles, unless you're referring to a specific person when doing so, like Commander Adama or Admiral Cain.
: Further, as I noted on Serenity's talk page, I am fully cognizant of the fact that editing the contested article now would be a waste of time and resources for both parties concerned, simply because there is new information available to us that needs to be entered, information that I have access to. It took me several views before I noticed that there was one there. In S4E1: He That Believeth In Me, at about 4:30, look at the Viper behind Tyrol when he yells 'Get that showboat bird in the tubes!'. You can see that it's the older style by the square wing, instead of the more triangular ones on the newer versions. I only noticed it when my computer happened to freeze at that exact moment-I saw it, and thought 'Hey, that's the MKI from the miniseries!'

The Music

Sasoriza:

As the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] approaches the [[Ionian nebula]], four people, [[Saul Tigh]], [[Samuel Anders]], [[Tory Foster]] and [[Galen Tyrol]], begin hearing fragments of strange music that only they can hear. The music becomes more distinct and distracting as the Fleet gets closer to the nebula.

Once the Fleet arrives at the Ionian nebula, '''the music'''<ref>{{bsgwiki term}}</ref> reaches a piercing shrill. The Colonials affected not only hear the music complete, but begin to add lyrics as well. As the Fleet plunges into darkness, losing electrical power for reasons unknown, the music compels the four to meet in an isolated room.

The four are able to assemble the lyric fragments with the intact music to form a strange song. The musical experience is associated with a "switch going off" in the minds of the four, who suddenly become aware that they are [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylons]]. The source or cause of the music is not known ([[Crossroads, Part II]]).

At the end of the episode the song starts playing as background music for the viewers to hear. These are the complete lyrics that are sung:

Thrace investigates their claim, and discovers a clue that ultimately leads the Fleet to [[Earth (RDM)|Earth]]: a Colonial emergency locator beacon signal. Norman later expresses his concern to Arnie over [[Andromus]]' questions regarding the radio station, particularly noting that they were asking about the security arrangements. Norman is present when [[Centuri]] is subjected to microwave emissions from the microwave, but does not see Andromus' destruction of the microwave via his energy weapon as he makes a quip about putting [[w:gunpowder|gunpowder]] in the meatballs. The destruction of the microwave subsequently begins a fire in Arnie's apartment.

Their two missions resulted in the successful destruction and occupation of the [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies]] as well as damage and terrorism strewn through its [[The Fleet (RDM)|spaceborne survivors]] ([[Downloaded]]).

A [[Number Three]] congratulates Caprica-Six with this title after her recent [[Resurrection (RDM)|download]] as the [[Cylons (RDM)|occupying Cylons]] on [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] continue their clean up of a city for their use.

Later, Caprica-Six and Valerii realize that the moniker has a taint; their status as heroes have marked the two [[humanoid Cylon]]s as being too individualistic due to their respective romantic involvement with humans [[Gaius Baltar]] and [[Galen Tyrol]], respectively (although Tyrol is actually a Cylon, the [[Humanoid_Cylon#Significant_Seven|Significant Seven]] are unaware of this). Three suggests that, if Valerii (and, by similar implication, Caprica-Six) does not accept her true nature as a Cylon and forget her emotional attachments to humans, her consciousness will eventually be [[boxed]]. Another possibility is that the show might take place in a completely alternate reality, in which humans did not evolve on Earth.

The Sacred Scrolls have been seen as an actual, ornate scroll (similar to a [[Wikipedia:Torah|torah]], as shown in the [[Miniseries]]), as well as a book (Both Adama and Roslin read what appear to be identically-created books in "[[Home, Part II]]").

The total volume of the Scrolls has not been revealed, so it is possible (albeit improbable) that the scroll that [[Elosha]] holds in the [[Miniseries]] as she swears in President Roslin and holds during the service for the dead may make up only a portion of the total texts, or key readings from the works. A shortened volume may not be different from the Roman Catholic Church's use of [[Wikipedia:Missal|missals]]: A specialized volume containing prayers and readings specific to a celebrant's use during [[temple]] ceremonies, Services for the Dead, weddings, [[dedication ceremony|dedication ceremonies]] and the like.

Much of the Scrolls appear to be handwritten. While the technology of the Twelve Colonies obviously support electronic printing and reproduction, it may be that the most authentic copies of the sacred texts are either authentic reproductions from a handwritten copy, or genuine handwritten copies. This practice may be for reasons of authenticity, custom, or aesthetics. The practice is similar to the work and purposes of the [[Wikipedia:Scribes|scribes]] before the invention of the printing press in real-Earth history. For comparison, an extreme example of the tradition of handwritten sacred texts in real-Earth history are the [[Wikipedia:Sefer Torah|sefer Torahs]].

Because Sagittarons are traditionally pacifists and do not believe in modern medicine for religious reasons, while the Gemenese traditionally interpret the Sacred Scrolls literally but do not share these practices, it is likely that the Gemenese and Sagittarons have different versions of the Sacred Scrolls, or that the Sagittarons have some supplemental religious document or oral tradition in addition to the Scrolls.

**Official sources suggested that Roslin's cancer cure in "[[Epiphanies]]" may not necessarily be a permanent matter, so the prophecy may still hold true.
*Is it possible that the dying leader may be referring to someone besides Roslin? It could be Admiral Adama as at the beginning of the Miniseries, he was a man who was "wasting away" before the Cylons attacked. He could be possibly another route for the writers to go through as having Adama not being able to enter the land that he and Roslin are leading the fleet to.
*In "[[The Eye of Jupiter]]", the [[Hybrid]] is looking directly at [[Gaius Baltar|Baltar]] while repeating the words "sins revealed... only to the chosen one", referring to. Plus, he did much of the work mapping out the location of the Lion's Head Nebula. Could this indicate that Baltar may be actually responsible for showing the path to Earth, thus fulfilling the role of "the leader"? Given his situation of being distrusted and hated by both Cylon and human, it would appear unlikely that he would survive to reach earth.
*Since the entire [[Number Three]] line has been [[Boxing|boxed]], could one or all of the Threes be considered "dying leaders"? Is it possible that they, and not Roslin, will be instrumental in leading the humans as well as the Cylons to Earth?

Within the context of the Re-imagined Series, the Model 0005 is over 40 years old, and was the last assumed appearance of the Cylons after the war.</ref>, glimpsed briefly in two scenes of the [[Miniseries]], was apparently the latest Cylon model to have been extensively documented by Colonial authorities after the [[Cylon War]]. It is a primitive model, resembling a short, clumsy humanoid with a single red eye - or as some of the Colonials contemptuously referred to them, "chrome [[toaster]]s". According to [[Saul Tigh]],<ref>From "[[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]", [http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/episodes/season02/202/deleted1.html deleted scene]</ref> they had a distinctive "stink" of machine oil.

These models were apparently the instigators of the Cylon rebellion, or their immediate descendants. They fought in all the major engagements of the Cylon War, including the boardings of ''[[Brenik]]'' and ''[[Galactica]]''. A painting by [[Monclair]] depicts a massive melee between early-model Cylons and joint Aerelon-Caprican ground forces.

Not only were these models sentient, they were far from emotionless — in his recollection of the ''Brenik'', [[Saul Tigh]] recalls their vicious tactics in hand-to-hand combat: "The first one was Duncan Raverty. I found him in the corridor. His guts were strewn around on the floor. Y'know, at first I couldn't figure out why the Cylons would bother doing something like that [...] You had to look into their red eye-slit. They hated us. They hated us so much it wasn't enough just to kill us" ("[[Scattered]]", deleted scene).

While remarks by [[Number Six]] in the miniseries state that "those [walking chrome toaster] models are still around. They have their uses," it is most likely that she is referring to the modern Centurions (below), which seem to have replaced the Model 0005 entirely.

The current mainstay of Cylon ground forces, the modern Centurion is a taller, swifter and more agile unit than the Model 0005. Its "fingers" serve as edged weapons in close-quarters combat, and can retract to make way for projectile weapons built into its forearms.

There are apparently two armor configurations - the Centurions encountered by Lt. [[Karl Agathon]] on occupied [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Caprica|Caprica]] were susceptible to normal small-arms fire, while a boarding party dispatched to ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' in a boarding action could only be impeded by explosive rounds ([[Valley of Darkness]]).

While the earlier Centurion models presumably took a leadership role in their war against the Colonials, modern Centurions appear completely mute and are subservient to the human models. [[Jackson Spencer]], encountering the newer model Cylon Raider for the first time, expresses shock that "nobody's flying these things." Lt. [[Kara Thrace]] later discovers that the Raider she has [[Skirmish over the Red Moon|shot down]] was, after a fashion, "alive." She removes most of its organic parts before returning with it to ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]''. There, [[Sharon Valerii]], a Cylon sleeper agent, guesses that the Raider is a Cylon in its own right, although "More of an animal, maybe, than the human models... like a pet" ([[Six Degrees of Separation]]).

[[Sharon Agathon|Another Sharon copy]] confirms that Raiders 'download' and reincarnate. These sleeper agents are programmed with false memories and appear genuine. Unplanned discovery of their true nature can be extremely disturbing for these units, and their behavior is not always predictable.

The existence or knowledge of the [[Final five|five remaining models]] appear to be something of a taboo in Cylon society. When Baltar mentions their absence to Caprica-Six he is told not to talk about them. The identities of these five models appear to be suppressed or missing from the Cylons' collective knowledgebase.

A Number Three model believes that the five silhouetted figures she sees in a vision of Kobol's ancient [[Opera House]] while she is in the "space between life and death" prior to [[Resurrection (RDM)|resurrection]] are images of the final five.

Inside the [[Temple of Five]], Number Three manages to return to the "space between life and death" and sees the faces of the five and retains her memories of them for the first time. She recognizes one of the five while she was in their presence but when her consciousness returned to the temple she promptly died before she could reveal who it was she saw. Her consciousness, and the consciousnesses of all other Three models has been [[boxing|boxed]] by the other Cylons and all the knowledge of the five has been boxed with her, for the time being ([[Rapture]]). Since only the Threes have seen these figures, and because the Temple itself was designed for descendants of the twelve tribes and not the Cylons, the actual nature of the final five remains a mystery.

They are specially constructed living computers that manage the autonomic functions of the basestar. ===Organizational Relationships===
The exact nature of the Cylon hierarchy remains unclear. The humanoid models, as the most evolved form of Cylon, are definitely in charge of the Centurions and Raiders. [[Caprica-Six]]'s statement in "[[Downloaded]]" that Cylon culture is based on unity and that celebrities such as herself are something new implies that there is no single "[[Imperious Leader]]" as there was in the [[Battlestar Galactica (TOS)|Original Series]]. Instead, each model appears to be equal in terms of power and authority and the Cylons appear to make critical decisions based on consensus, or failing that, majority opinion. One or two representatives from each available model gather and discuss matters in a forum-like environment then hold a vote on what course of action to take. Each model gets one vote that appears to represent the opinion of every copy of that model (except in one known instance where [[Caprica-Six]] disagreed with the other Number Sixes). The Centurions, Raiders and the [[Hybrid|Baseship Hybrids]] are not permitted a vote in the decision making process ("[[Occupation]]" through "[[A Measure of Salvation]]"). In "[[Rapture]]" a [[Number Three]] indicates that she does not know who programmed the humanoid Cylons or why, while speaking to one of the [[Cavil]]s, before being [[boxed]].

Second, [[Special:Allpages]] also lists redirect articles; A to Z doesn't. A to Z is mainly for articles with content, thus excluding redirects, talk pages, "shortcut" pages, and other non-content pages. Shortly after her escape, however, ''Pegasus'' encountered a small refugee fleet of fifteen ships. Unwilling to be shackled down by the responsibility of protecting them, she stripped the refugee fleet of useful hardware and personnel, and left them stranded without [[FTL]] engines. She then led the battlestar away from the [[Twelve Colonies]], following a Cylon fleet that trailed what they discovered as fellow battlestar ''[[Galactica]]''.

Upon meeting up with Commander [[William Adama]]'s [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]], she assumes command and transfers personnel from ''Galactica'' to ''Pegasus'', including [[Lee Adama]] and [[Kara Thrace]], indicating that Adama has let military discipline become too lax. Cain is more interested in fighting the Cylons, seemingly oblivious to the point that she and the ships around her are all that was left of the human race, whose survival is more paramount than offensive assaults. While Adama initially welcomes such attacks against a mysterious Cylon force that followed the Fleet (to stop it from following them), his attitude begins to cool about Cain's very strict and unmerciful leadership.

Cain's actions also raise concerns with President [[Laura Roslin]]. Cain recognizes Roslin and her former role as Secretary of Education. After the Fleet command transfer from Adama to Cain, Roslin makes several attempts to call Cain to request supplies for the civilian fleet, but all of Roslin's calls are ignored.

Cain may also show brutal behavior when commanding her own staff, according to a conversation over alcohol that Colonel [[Saul Tigh]] has with his ''Pegasus'' counterpart, Colonel [[Jack Fisk]]. Fisk comments that, after ''Pegasus' ''initially escapes, the battlestar once tries to attack a Cylon communications relay -- an easy target. On arrival in the system, however, it turns out the target is a Cylon staging area, filled with 15 squadrons of [[Raider]]s. Admiral Cain ordered her previous Executive Officer, a man she had served with for years, to carry out the attack anyway, but he refused the order in the face of such odds. Admiral Cain asked the XO for his gun, and shot him in the head in front of the crew in the Pegasus [[CIC]]. Cain then turned to Fisk and ordered him to launch the attack, which he did. After relating this story to Col. Tigh, Col. Fisk says he is joking about the incident.

Although the story could be unreliable because Fisk is drunk at the time, Tigh relays the story and his suspicions of his likelihood to Adama. Adama cautions that ''Galactica's'' crew has also made some questionable actions since the attack, and they don't know if the story was taken out of context or not. Even if the story is true, Adama is willing to give Cain the benefit of the doubt and not question the matter further.

===Court-martial, standoff===
After the suspect fatal assault of one of her crew members, Lieutenant [[Alistair Thorne|Thorne]], Cain arrests Chief [[Galen Tyrol|Tyrol]] and Lieutenant Karl "[[Karl Agathon|Helo]]" Agathon and flies them to ''Pegasus'', under Adama's protest, since traditionally a trial is held on the ship where an incident has occurred. Cain uses ''Galactica's'' log against Adama when he asks for a tribunal; Cain notes that Adama dismissed the last council unilaterally when the verdict did not suit him. Cain summarily court-martials the prisoners herself in a matter of hours, sentencing them to death. Commander Adama is far from pleased, and orders an assault crew to head for ''Pegasus'' to bring his men back. Cain responds by deploying her squadrons of advanced Mark VII Vipers against Adama's museum collection of Mark II Vipers in a tense standoff ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]).

The tense game of chicken that begins is ended by Starbuck, flying the [[Blackbird]] as she returns from her unofficial recon mission on the unknown Cylon ship. Starbuck transmits the pictures she took of the [[Resurrection Ship]] back to ''Pegasus'' [[CIC]]. Upon Thrace's return to ''Pegasus'', Cain is so impressed with her performance that she promotes Thrace to Captain and ''Pegasus'' [[CAG]], replacing the competent but uncreative and inflexible Capt. After Captain Thrace briefs both Adama, Apollo, and Cain on her plan to attack the Resurrection Ship, Adama pulls Starbuck aside and outlines a plan to assassinate Cain following the attack. At the same time, Cain instructs [[Jack Fisk]] to lead a detachment of marines to "terminate Adama's command" after the battle ([[Resurrection Ship, Part I]]).

When the moment arrives, neither commander decides to send their execution orders, leaving Thrace and Fisk visibly relieved. Cain survives Adama's plan, ironically, because Adama solicits advice from [[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|the second copy of Sharon Valerii]], who reminds him of his decommissioning speech that asked whether humanity asked itself if it deserved to survive ([[Miniseries]]). That is, Adama's actions in assassinating Cain would be a good example of why humanity deserved what the Cylons dealt to them so many months ago. Although it may have been due to realizing Adama's value as a commander during the battle, the reasons for Cain staying her hand were never revealed, and remain a topic of debate among fans.

Unfortunately for Cain, shortly after Adama's window to assassinate Cain had passed, [[Gaius Baltar|Baltar]] helps the Cylon agent [[Gina]] escape from the brig. Gina makes her way to Cain's quarters and shoots Cain at point blank range. A soldier to the last, Cain's final words are "[[Frak]] you."

Cain's funeral is given full military honors, with Fisk and Thrace giving eulogies. Though Thrace only knew Cain briefly, she obviously admired the woman, stating "We were safer with her than we are without." ([[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]).

The '''Cylon transponder''' is a small, ovoid device that is discretely placed under ''[[Galactica]]'s'' [[DRADIS]] console by a [[Cylon agent]]. A similar device was carried about by the Cylon agent, [[Number Six]], during her time on Caprica with [[Gaius Baltar]] ([[Miniseries]]), perhaps to better allow tracking of herself by other Cylon agents.

The transponder works as an [[IFF]] device, identifying anyone or anything that holds it as a "friendly" contact to other Cylons. Apparently this device was installed by the first copy of [[Aaron Doral]] shortly before the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|Cylon attack]] began while security throughout the ship was more lax during the work of transforming ''Galactica'' into a [[Galactica Museum|museum]]. It was likely intended by the Cylons to track ''Galactica'' during (or, if she were to escape, after) the initial Cylon attacks.

A second transponder is aboard the captured [[Raider]], piloted by [[Kara Thrace]] in her against-orders adventure back to [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Caprica|Caprica]] in search of an ancient [[Arrow of Apollo|artifact]] ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]). This transponder is obtained from the copy of [[Leoben Conoy]] found on the [[Gemenon Traveller]], in a scene cut from the episode "[[Flesh and Bone]]."

I was reading the quote from Eick, "...Adama begins to believe that on some level he might have been responsible for provoking the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies." and for some reason I felt that thie reminded me of Gorge Washington long before we was president or even commander-in-chief when, before the 7-Years-War, Washington was involved in a skirmish with the French over Fort Necessity, aka Pittsburgh (yes, we fought a battle for that city) that led to Washington signing a treaty stating, unbeknownst to him because he couldn't speak French and his interpreter sucked, that he committed attrocities against France in the name of the British Empire. This, according to many historians, led to the 7 Years War, known in America as the French and Indian War, that would decimate Northern Germany. I'm sure Washington at some level had to be aware of this error on his part and led him to remorse I imagine. Anyways, the story is different but I was wondering how many parallels there will be, if there will be, in this episode to Washington's conundrum. I wanted to ask a question on the article page but couldn't concise it enough for wiki standards. The fact that Baltar and Six are in a 'clutch' position makes it unlikely that it's his internal Six. Three would have noticed Baltar trying to hug thin air in his sleep. Baltar is also in the center of the bed, rather than on one side. In addition, Caprica seems to be aware of (and approves) Three's new interest in Baltar. Regarding the possibility of a relationship between Three and Six: that is only speculation, but just because we haven't seen a lesbian relationship between cylons doesn't mean one isn't possible.[[User:Dallan007|Dallan007]] 22:18, 19 November 2006 (CST)

==The Black Ops Mission==
Does anyone think that the entire mission was poorly concieved? First, the Colonials jump a Battlestar to very close range of the armistice line, which one would expect to attract attention in and of itself. Second, we see the ''Valkyrie'' track the S-Star after launch and over the line. This either means the Valkyrie tracked it directly on DRADIS, which indicates it's not much of a stealth ship and that the Cylons should be able to detect it as well, or the S-Star has some sort of transponder reporting its position, which is also something the Cylons should detect. Finally, as referenced in the main article, the S-Star maintains radio contact with the ''Valkyrie'' throughout the whole mission, again something the Cylons should be able to detect. :-The mission is quite similar to the United States' U2 overflights during the late 1950's and 60's. Certain similarities between the depicted incident and the [[:wikipedia:U-2 Crisis of 1960|incident involving Francis Gary Powers]] can be read. It also conjures up several dozen observation flights by aircraft such as specially outfitted C-130's flying perilously close to a boundary line — even going so far as to slip a wingtip across it to "call a bluff". Also, there's the incident involving the Chinese Gai-8 fighter and the US P-3 Orion.
:In the case of our Colonials here, the stealth craft is more than likely equipped with an "odd frequency" (either very low or very high), encrypted transponder that transmits on a specific wavelength, only for IFF purposes. If I recall correctly, F-117 Nighthawks can still use their radios when on ops (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I suspect that this mission was proposed in order to get a glimpse into ''any'' Cylon activity. The stealth craft would be dangled out as a tiny bit of bait – just enough to get a response. Its stealth characteristics would increase its ability to dash back across the Armistice Line untracked and unaffected, and then ''Valkyrie'' would be able to observe and record the arriving Cylons. If questions were raised ("What are you doing here?" ... "Good question, what are ''you'' doing here?" ... "We detected you over the Armistice Line." ... "Who, us? Noooo... We've been on our side this whole time, just trolling about, watching over our miners over there on that moon there. So why are you here again? == Insight into Cylon plan ==
If the Cylons know where the Colonials are, or at least know well enough to send Bulldog at them, it's common sense to ask, why don't they just attack? Well, maybe their goal isn't to destroy Galactica et al outright but something more complex. One thing that does seem consistent with their plan is their desire to kill Adama, perhaps because they want to send the fleet into disarray without him at the top. Examples: Leoben telling Roslin that Adama's a Cylon in Flesh and Blood, Boomer shooting Adama repeatedly in Kobol's Last Gleaming Pt. II. There may be more examples that I can't think of right now.

People have been crying out "plot hole!" with reckless abandon in light of Bulldog's ability to pinpoint Galactica's position, but if the Cylon plan really is as simple as ''kill all humans,'' as these detractors might claim, then much of the show falls apart. The reality is, we don't really know the Cylon plan, and at this point, there's really no reason to jump to the conclusion that the writers are just too lazy to think of one. :IMHO, "Hero" is the weakest episode of the series yet. There's just too many logic errors for me to dismiss as part of the "suspension of disbelief" process. For instance, how does Bulldog have the time to learn how to pilot a Cylon raider, when Starbuck took hours to figure out how to operate the thing? Also, how would Bulldog be able to operate the FTL drive -- Kobol's Last Gleaming pretty much made it clear that the FTL drive needed an actual computer, given that the brain had to be ripped out in order for it to be piloted manually. But that's another not so fine mess.

:I agree that a lot of people have seemed predisposed to cry foul lately--I can understand how the scientific goofs in "A Measure of Salvation" could've set people on edge--but I do think it's possible that if the Cylons are operating under a religious motivation, that their plan does go beyond a simple "kill all humans" approach. They may see the need to exact specific steps of revenge/torture against humanity, perhaps a particular punishment for each perceived offense. That's just one possibility, but it could well be they have the death of a thousand cuts in mind for the remnants of humanity. I think Drumstick's probably on to something here. Or you know, if they wanted Bulldog to escape, they could have trained a Raider (which wasn't injured like Starbuck's) to understand and obey his commands or even set it up with an interface that a human could use. Until we see proof or disproof of all the different theories, I think it's too early to try to claim BsG has jumped the shark or anything similar. I also have to wonder if anybody here has writing experience with writing a full-length work. I am working on my first novel, and keeping total, perfect consistency is <i>not</i> easy and while I tend to get the big things right, I am still finding a lot of subtle things that need tweaking, and this despite my best efforts. Yet on the Kara Thrace article, it states that Thrace "resigned from flight school as a instructor and transferred as an operational pilot aboard battlestar Galactica under the command of William Adama, where she served for some '''two years prior to the Cylon attack''' on the Twelve Colonies." They can't both be right.

Also, from the Tyrol article: "He served aboard battlestars from the age of eighteen, including Columbia, Atlantia, and Pegasus (Resistance). He has served under William Adama on Galactica for five years (Litmus)." If he served under Adama for 5 years, why didn't he mention the Valkyrie when he was being intimidated by Tigh in Resistance? ::It is quite possible that this is not an error ''per se''. Adama and some of his command staff could easily have been assigned to the more modern Valkyrie from Galactica for the mission. It wouldn't make much sense to send "the bucket" on a stealth mission anyway. So Adama could easily have been in command of Galactica for several years prior, been offered command of Valkyrie as a reward, for career advancement or just for the mission... and have been pushed back to Galactica when the mission failed. If they had put the entire affair a few years further into the past, it would have made much more sense not only in Adamas biography, but also in the overall plot. Boomer served on ''Galactica'' for two years and probably spend some additional time at flight school, so Adama must know the Cylon infiltration started long before the Stealth-Star incident. This should really get Adama to ask himself how long the attack had been planned, though he might convince himself that the Cylons put their infiltrators in place just as a precaution and his actions led to their decision to actually use them. A few years more time between the attack and the incident would put the estimated start of Cylon infiltration (which actually could be anywhere between 2 and 20 years before the attack) around the same time, giving Adama a far more powerful reason to believe that he started it right there. I would like to think that putting the incident one year before attack was just an accident, but then it would probably become even more difficult to explain how Bulldog survived that long.

If the screencap interpretation in the article is correct, then it is currently 21356 - based on the 45th anniversary of Adama's commissioning - which is consistent with what we know about Colonial Day and the Armistice. Therefore the Fall of the Colonies occurred in 21354, and that means the Valkyrie incident occurred in 21353 or thereabouts. However, the dossier goes on to state that Adama took command of Valkyrie in 21345, and Galactica in 21348. If the dossier is correct, then the Valkyrie incident had to take place in 21347 or 21348...which means that Adama's "graceful retirement" lasted for 6 years until the Fall. If this timeline is correct, then it basically blows all the dialogue in this episode out of the water, but validates everything we've seen and heard in the first two seasons. == Cylon detector problems ==

There's some inconsistency with the "Cylon Detector" that Doc Cottle used to determine that Bulldog was a human. First of all, if you look at the screen caps, [http://galacticabbs.com/index.php?act=module&module=gallery&cmd=si&img=56612|like this one], you can see that the screen says "-RESULTS NEGATIVE-" If he was testing the DNA against their military records, it should say "-RESULTS POSITIVE-" If it's negative, the DNA doesn't match. That, or it's supposed to be a Cylon Detector, and it's saying that he's not a Cylon. It seems like it could be a simple goof between dialogue and props.

However, going along with the DNA reasoning... that doesn't necessarily prove anything, does it? If they tested Boomer's DNA against the DNA they have on record for her, I assume it's going to match, since they probably took Cylon DNA initially. Who's to say that the same thing didn't happen to Bulldog? In that case, his DNA would match, but he'd be a Cylon. Seems like a poor determiner of race, that's all. I don't think that he's necessarily a Cylon, just that this is another "oops."

--It might prove something...if the Colonials have DNA records going all the way back to a person's birth. If they're matching against that kind of original record (heck, maybe they even have the parents' records, too), then that may well constitute proof. == Three's Opera house Scene ==

I was wondering if someone could elucidate their theories a little further on Three's opera house scene. The comments on this article seem to suggest that Three had never seen the opera house before. However, on first viewing the episode it seemed to me that she was ''trying'' to get there. Isn't that the reason she asked the centurion to kill her in the first place? (If not, what's her motivation for doing so when she ''knows'' that she will resurrect -- she's not escaping anything!) And her comments directly after she wakes up in the resurrection chamber seem to suggest that she doesn't need time to "process" what she's seen -- she's more confirming that yes, there is something there. i.e.- I've seen it before, I wasn't sure of what I was seeing, but now I ''know'' what I'm seeing and I want to tell the others about it.

On a sunny beach, Gaius praises Six for returning to him in his time of need, and states that he enjoys having conversations with her. Six implores him to learn anything and everything about the Cylons, as he will need the information in the days ahead. Six also tells him that the Cylons use forms of projection to see the world around them, and when asked what she is, Six tells Baltar that she is an angel of God.
*Having been allowed to stay on the [[Basestar]], [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Three]] talk with Baltar later on, inquiring about the location of [[Earth]]. Gaius initially denies having any knowledge of where Earth is, but then reveals that he does have clues as to where its probable location is. He then finds out that the [[Cylons]] intend to find Earth so they can use it as their new home.
*Baltar is apprehensive about helping the Cylons, and Caprica-Six tells him that the Cylons are also leery as to whether his intentions are true or not. Caprica-Six leads Baltar through the ship, telling him that she uses a projection of a forest to navigate the ship. In his mind, Baltar realizes that his form of projection is similar to what the Cylons are using, causing him to question whether he is human or a Cylon.
*Caprica-Six informs Gaius that his rescue of [[Hera]] and his assistance in finding Earth has made him a valuable asset, and has gone a long way in impressing the Cylons. Baltar asks why there are only 7 models on the ship, and inquires about the remaining 5 models. Caprica-Six informs him that they don't talk about it. He asks whether they would recognize one of the others, but their conversation is interrupted by Three before she can answer.
* Three informs Caprica-Six that there is a situation, and a [[Five]] states that the basestar that went to check the pulsar has not responded back. The group head to a control center, where Baltar finds out that the missing basestar has been infected by a disease, and that any Cylon that dies and uploads to a [[Resurrection Ship]] will spread the virus even further. On the urge of his internal Six, Baltar offers to board the infected basestar and collect scientific information.
* Before he leaves on his mission, Baltar encounters the [[Hybrid|Cylon hybrid]] that controls the functions of the basestar. The hybrid is hooked into the systems on the ship, and continually vocalizes her seemingly non-sensical thoughts. Caprica-Six informs Gaius that it is thought by most of the Cylon models that the hybrid has gone insane from being connected to the [[Basestar]] and that her words hold no meaning, however the [[Leoben]] model takes the hybrid's words as coming from God.
* The Cylons provide Baltar with a Raptor to board the baseship, and when he arrives, he finds numerous Cylons, either dead or dying. He collects blood samples and takes pictures of the area to bring back for analysis, and also finds a large manmade object in the hold of the ship. He then finds a dying [[Six]] model (curiously with black hair), who informs him that the device the Cylons captured, a probe left by the [[13th Colony]], infected all of them, and wants to die so she can be released from her pain. Even though Gaius offers to bring her help, she tries to attack him, and Gaius strangles her to death.
* Upon his return to the Basestar, Gaius denies finding anything that could have caused the outbreak of the virus, but Caprica-Six notices the probe object in Baltar's picture, but doesn't let on to anyone else what she has discovered.

* Is the virus biological or technological in nature? The "inevitable once we took human form" and "genetic pool" lines indicate that the Cylons think it is biological. On the other hand, their belief that it could survive through a download process implies that it is technological in nature (i.e. computer virus). This would seem to be a contradiction. Is the virus both biological and technological, like the Cylons themselves?
* Why did then-President Baltar investigate clues to Earth's location, given that he advocated abandoning that very search in his election campaign?
* Why is Lee Adama a Major again? Is it a case of [[w:brevet rank|brevet rank]]?

*The crew-position shuffle continues from last episode, but some definite decisions have been made:
**Lee has been demoted back to Major, and has resumed the CAG slot, with Kat and Hot Dog as senior pilots under him. Kara is as well, until Lee revokes her flight status for reckless behaviour.
**As mentioned, it seems Kat has been demoted from CAG to leader of Blue Group (Although "Blue Group" may only exist for training purposes and not be a permanent viper squadron).
**As implied in "Collaborators", Helo has resumed the XO slot aboard ''Galactica''.
**Gaeta appears to have inherited Baltar's mantle as the scientific advisor (it is unclear whether he holds any additional positions), and is focusing his efforts on refining a course for Earth.
**Cally is shown working the flight deck alongside her husband, showing that she is once again active in the Fleet.
*Following her actions during the Battle of New Caprica, Sharon seems to have garnered some degree of acceptance among the ''Galactica'' air group.
*"Athena" is the name of [[Athena (TOS)|Adama's daughter]] in the original series. This may be an allusion to the changing relationships on ''Galactica'': Sharon Agathon has replaced Kara Thrace as William Adama's surrogate daughter. == Friday Air - Server Idea Fix ==

Ok... this is my idea. Three hours before the episode, we sysop protect this page. Once the episode is aired/finshed on it's first round 9pm to 10pm, we unlock it. What this will do is keep the server queries down on the server before the mad rush. Talking with steelviper about this, he suggested we have three sub-pages off the episode guide, Summary, Questions, and Anylsis for people to work on during the episode. This will keep the conflicts down and the server in tip top shape. Before we unlock the main episode page.... we as sysops (Mop boys) would transfer the information from these pages to the guide and then kill the subpages. Shane, is there a way we can calculate how old a person is through a template? For instance, someone would enter their birth day in number format (such as 09-17-1978) and then the template would calculate how many years old someone is? (Admittedly, what brings this to mind is CA's birthday, which he updated on his user page.)
