:I don't believe Adama was divorced from Anne at all, but in any case no episode data confirms that status. Note he wears a wedding ring in the miniseries. Also note his sadness on announcing Caprica City's nuking, suggesting other loved ones (maybe Anne) was a victim, too. Wow. [[Resurrection Ship, Part II]] took me a bit by surprise at the end there. Not Cain getting shot, but Adama's little kiss with Roslin. That was an interesting turn. Does anyone know what "rolling the hard six" actually refers to? I know it has to do with the game of craps, but I don't know specifically what it means. It would help if i did, because I've started using it completley inadvertently in everyday speech, along with [[frak]]. "Rolling the hard six" means getting a high number, when your really need it in a difficult situation...as this is a statistically rare occurance, it is "hard" to do. ::Secondly, It would have been a simple matter to phrase your response without a condescending tone. Instead of what you actually said, you could've said "I think 'rolling the hard six' simply refers to actually rolling a six on a die. Since six is the highest number on dice, it means getting a high number when you really need it, and since rolling a 6 is statistically rare, it is "hard" to do."

You can roll a six 5 different ways (1-5,2-4,3-3,4-2,5-1) only 1 of which is "hard". When a player needs a six, any of the combinations will do. The odds against making a ''hard'' six are 10-1, since only 1 outcome is favorable and 10 are unfavorable (namely, the other 4 ways to make a six, and all 6 ways to make a seven). So the symmetry and low frequency of 3-3 lead to its special designation. The same is true of hard 4, 8 and 10. Say, is there a way to get the Character template to stop saying William "Husker" Adama? He has not been addressed as Husker, so it might be more of a confusion than anything to have it say that. There are lots of things in this article that weren't stated in any of the shows. Shouldn't these things have notes as to their sources?

We know his callsign because it was printed by the cockpit of his Mark 2 viper in the miniseries.

We don't know wny adama is estranged from his wife, but we know he was divorced because in the miniseries, apollo says that she is getting remarried.

We don't know why Tigh and Adama ended up on a freighter. Maybe they quit after the war? Maybe they were tossed out as reduction in force. It's never said.

Regarding the discharge of Adama and Tigh, I think that they were most likely honorably discharged, since the fleet eventually re-hired them. The issue here though is WHY were they honorably discharged? Did they themselves resign, or did the Fleet downsize them out of the service?

After World War II, the government didn't really have much problems with military size, as a great number of people merely did not reenlist.. and who could blame them? Did Adama and Tigh do the same thing? were they so sick of war that they got themselves out of the service, only to find civilian life unsatisfying?

We just don't know, and stating otherwise as fact probably isn't the best thing to do.

This article now possesses the first truncated character bio for a major character. Discussions of the article appear in [[User talk:Spencerian/Shortbio]] and the original mock page is at [[User:Spencerian/Shortbio]]. In short, the goal of this adjustment to highlight the important notes of the character with a minimum of narrative or rehashing of episode data already present in other articles. In short, the bio page reflects more on who the character is, and less on what he's done that's not something of remarkable note and which hasn't been noted ''ad nauseum'' to another article. Truncated character bios also reduce the article size to prevent issues with older browsers and readers, and make it easier for all to edit and update since historical information can simply be added in a few bullets. What doesn't make sense is that he was XO on ''Valkyrie'' only 3 years ago. I got the distinct impression that he was on ''Galactica'' for a longer time. For example Gaeta, Starbuck and possibly Tyrol make statements that they served with him for 2-3 years on seperate occassions.

== Is Adama a Cylon? ==

This might sound far-reaching, but I don't think it is. [[Leoben]] hinted at the possibility, and we see him in another episode (sorry, don't remember which one) crushing pecan shells (or walnuts?) with his bare hands. Who do we know has superhuman strength? The human-Cylons as evidenced by when Leoben rips apart a pipe at the Ragnar station, and when Kara is fist-fighting 6 on Caprica, along with some other shows of strengths by human cylons that I'm neglecting to mention.

He might be one of the Final Five. Perhaps the Final Five were a rebellious group trying to help the humans, and that's why the other seven don't talk about them.

"Boomer" Valerii appears to be a young pilot recently-assigned to shipboard operations. Assigned to flying the Raptor reconnaissance vehicle. Her inexperience is demonstrated through repeated heavy landings aboard the ''Galactica'' ([[Mini-Series]]).

As a pilot, she is assigned alongside [[ECO]] [[Agathon, Karl C.|Karl "Helo" Agathon]], with whom she has developed a close friendship. She has also formed friendships with other pilot officers aboard the battlestar, sharing off-duty activities, such as regular card games ([[Mini-Series]], [[Act of Contrition]]), all of which have helped her integrate into shipboard life and be accepted as a member of the crew.

Initially, "Boomer" Valerii is unaware of her Cylon status. As far as she is aware, she was born on the mining colony of Troy, the daughter of a family from Arilon ([[Flesh and Bone]]). Troy itself was destroyed in an unexplained cataclysm, allowing Boomer's background to be established as that of an orphan.

Following he arrival on-board the ''Galactica'', she enters into a relationship with the ship's Chief Petty Officer [[Tyrol, Galen|Galen Tyrol]]. Whether this is unintentional, or a subconcious reaction to her Cylon programming / personality is unclear.

At the time of the [[Cylon Attack|Cylon attack]], Boomer was flying her Raptor to [[Caprica]] with the [[Galactica|Galactica's]] last remaining operational [[Viper]] squadron to [[Caprica]] when they attempt to engage Cylon [[Raider]] fighters. However, the Viper squadron is destroyed, and the Raptor is damaged while trying to escape, forcing Boomer and Helo to make an emergency landing on Caprica.

With the Raptor repaired, they undertake an unexpected rescue operation, lifting a number of children and adults from the planet. However, this is at the expense of Helo, who gives up his place aboard the Raptor so that Doctor [[Baltar, Gaius|Gaius Baltar]] can be rescued ([[Mini-Series]].

Following this, Boomer works hard within the fleet, initially assisting [[Roslin Laura|Laura Roslin's]] attempts to gather together as many surviving civilian ships within the colonies as possible, finding a number of ships critical to the fledgling fleet's survival (such as a fuel tanker) ([[Mini-Series]]); she has also been engaged in other critical acts that have aided the continued survival of the fleet, such as the discovery of a [[tylium]]-rich asteroid, replete with an active Cylon mine ([[The Hand of God]]). It is her Raptor which also locates a source of water to replenish the fleet ([[Water]]).

However, at the same time as she is apparenlt working in support of the fleet, Boomer's underlying Cylon programming emerges. She is engaged in the sabotage of the ''Galactica's'' water tanks which results in the initial water shortage ([[Water]]); later she may have assisted the suicide bomber incarnation of [[Doral, Aaron|Aaron Doral]] gain access to a munitions store aboard the ''Galactica'' and construct a bomb which very nearly kills [[Adama, William|Commander Adama]] and [[Tigh, Saul|Colonel Tigh]].

Having "awoken" shortly after the bombs used to destroy the ''Galactica's'' water tanks had been planted to find herself soaking wet ([[Water]]), Boomer's human personality becomes increasingly concerned that she is not all she appears. This worry is increased when she experiences a degree of "attraction" to a captured Cylon Raider, and is able to give insight into how it can be properly assessed and understood ([[Six Degrees of Separation]], [[Flesh and Bone]]). Her concerns are further elevated when, following the bombing by Doral, the ''Galactica's'' [[Master-at-Arms]], Sergeant [[Hadrian]] suspects her and Tyrol of Cylon complicity ([[Litmus]]).

Isolated from Tyrol following this event, when he ends their relationship following the arrest of Specialist [[Socinus]] ([[Litmus]]) and facing Tyrol's own suspicions concerning her activities immediately before the bombing, Boomer finds herself emotionally isolated and stressed. Despite assurances from Doctor Baltar that she is not a Cylon ([[Flesh and Bone]]), Boomer finds short solace in his test rests, and also facing an accusation from another source when she finds the word "CYLON" written on the mirror of her locker ([[Six Degrees of Separation]]).

Confused and isolated, Boomer withdraws into herself, and attempts to take her own life, but finds herself initially unable to do so. During her second attempt, she is interrupted by Dcotor Baltar who, rather than discouraging her, essentially gives her his blessing on her attempt. Folloeing his departure from the bunkroom, Boomer does shoot herself. However, her Cylon personality apparently interrupts the attempt, and Boomer can only severely wound herself in the face ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]).

Following this, and with the ''Galactica'' having dispatched a Cylon basestar in orbit above [[Kobol]], Boomer is subsumed by her Cylon personality and visits [[CIC]], shooting William Adama and seriously wounding him ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]).

In the role of PR executive, he is efficient, polite and carries the correct about the difference to those around him to enable him to carry out his work without ruffling feathers, while at the same time being able to marshall and manage the media.

Following Gaius Baltars' arrival on the ''Galactica'', Doral becomes the fall-guy Baltar needs to divert any suspicions he feels may otherwise be directed at him following the Cylon incursion into the 12 colonies. In this, he is partially steered by Six - although the selection of Doral as his fall-guy appears to be Baltar's own choice [[Mini-Series]].

Arrested and thrown into the brig, Doral loudly proclaims his innocence of all charges, citing his backgound and upbringing: that he was born in [[Oasis]], a hamlet near Caprica City, grew up on the south side of Caprica city itself before going to Geminon, where he studied public relations at the Kobol Colleges ([[Mini-Series]]).

Later, after being left at the [[Ragnar Anchorage]] space station, Doral exhibits all of the symptoms initially shown by Humano-Cylon [[Leoben Conoy]], confirming the fact that he is a Cylon and that, however "coincidentally", Baltar selected the "right" man.

Given his protestations of innocence, and the palpable level of fear he demonstrated within the brig, it is possible that the Doral on ''Galactica'' was one of the Cylons that - like Sharon "[[Boomer]]" Valerii, was programmed to think he genuinely was human, until the radiation around Ragnar began to affects his silica pathways, causing his underlying Cylon identity to come to the fore.

In selecting Doral as his victim, Baltar accidently - assuming it wasn't so form of subconscious prompting from Six - acheived two goals: firstly, he increased his value to the Colonials by "developing" his first "[[Cylon detector]]". Secondly, he enabled a Cylon agent to pass on intel to its peers from a place where direct communications - because of the radiation - was impossible. Unfortunately, at the time of his arrest, Doral hadn't gained the information he may have needed to be of more value: Adama's intentions for the ''Galactica'' and the fleet.

However, any supposition that Doral was running in "human" mode while aboard ''Galactica'' must be offset against he actions while aboard ''[[Colonial One]]'', when he was firstly obstructive when Roslin started organising things and later tried to delay the departure of the [[FTL]]-capable vessels when a Cylon attack was known to be imminent.

Where these acts - particularly the second one - provoked by Doral's "human" side being concerned for "his" fellow citizens - or were they deliberate acts of a fully-aware Cylon, designed to confuse and delay?

=== Caprica Valerii ===

When [[Agathon, Karl C.|Helo]] is left on [[Caprica]], the [[Cylons]] use him in an elaborate experiment. Key to this experiment is another variant of Valerii, with variants of [[Doral, Aaron|Doral]] and [[Number Six|Six]] acting as overseers for the experiment. She is initially encountered "rescuing" Helo from capture by [[Number Six|Six]]. Following this, she leads Helo to "her" [[Raptor]], now in the hands of Cylons, thus convincing him that they have no direct way off of the planet ([[Water]]).

Following this, and having recived a "Colonial signal" on the radio receiver they are carrying, she leads Helo to a city where they find a fully-equipped "fallout shelter" in which two people can live in reasonable security, hidden from above-ground Cylon operations, and with sufficient supplies to last a considerable period of time ([[Act of Contrition]]).

The purpose in establishing this "nest" appears to be to elicit an emotional response in Helo towards Valerii. When this fails, and he continues to express a desire to get off the planet, the Cylons arrange for Valerii to be "captured", determining that if Helo does not seek to rescue her, the experiment has failed, and he must be killed ([[You Can't Go Home Again]]).

Following Helo's "rescue" of Valerii, genuine concern and mutual need result in them making love ([[Six Degrees of Separation]]), which she reports to Doral and Six. A new hideout, a cain in the woods, is being constructed for Helo and Valerii, and she is instructed to lead him there and have him stay with her there - or kill him if he attempts to leave ([[Flesh and Bone]]).

Faced with this, and the realisation that she has herself fallen in love with Helo, Valerii disobeys her instructions and attempts to lead Helo to [[Delphi]], where they hope to steal a vehicle and get off the planet ([[Secrets and Lies]]). On route to the spaceport, Valerii shows signs of being pregnant: she is sick ([[The Hand of God]]) and develops a ravening appetite ([[Colonial Day]]).

On reaching Delphi, she and Helo attempt to break into the Cylon facilities and reach the spaceport, but when Helo encounters another variant of Valerii, he draws the conclusion that she is a human clone created by the Cylons, and goes on the run - alone ([[Colonial Day]]). When Valerii catches up with him, her emotional condition is so confused, she challenges him to shoot her ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]). However, Helo is only able to wound her, then he takes her with him in the hope she can help him get off of Caprica.

*It is possible that the Caprica Valerii is the same Valerii appearing at the end of the [[Mini-Series]] who states the humans will be found. While, at the time the [[Mini-Series]] had been filmed, there were no plans to have [[Penikett,Tahmoh|Tahmoh Penikett]] reprise the role of [[Agathon, Karl C.|Helo]], the ending of the [[Mini-Series]] forms a link to [[33]], establishing that the Cylons have developed a plan for Helo's presence on Caprica.
*One further Valerii is witnessed, in [[Colonial Day]]. However, she is immediately killed by Caprica Valerii.

Currently, this position is held by [[Tigh, Saul|Saul Tighe]]. Often times he carries out the difficult decisions that sometimes must be made, thus taking much of the heat away from [[Adama, William|Cmdr. Adama]].
