'''Anastasia Dualla''' {{IPA|du.&#x02C8;&#x0251;.l&#x0259;}} is the executive officer of [[Mercury class battlestar|battlestar]] ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'' and wife of Commander [[Lee Adama]]. Both her marriage to Lee and her promotion to Pegasus' command structure occurred during the year which the fleet spent in orbit above [[New Caprica]]. Prior to this, she was a member of ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica's]]'' command staff before the start of the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]]. Then ranked as a Petty Officer 2nd Class, Dualla managed the main communications board in [[CIC]], and worked closely with [[William Adama|Adama]], [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]], and [[Felix Gaeta|Gaeta]] in serving as ''Galactica's'' eyes and ears to her fighters and [[The Fleet (RDM)|The Fleet]]. Her responsibilities included:

* Monitoring fleet-wide [[Wireless|communications]], including all of ''Galactica's'' incoming and out-going communications
* Ensuring shipboard communications are properly logged ([[Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down]])
* Relaying communications to all of ''Galactica's'' [[Viper (RDM)|Vipers]] and [[Raptor|Raptors]] during off-ship missions
* Managing other minor CIC operations in Lt. Gaeta's absence.

== Biography ==

Dualla's father thought that her enlistment in the [[Colonial Fleet|Colonial Fleet Reserve]] was crazy, and he viewed the military as a joke. She signed up anyway because she "wanted to believe in something." This rift with her father would continue throughout her service and the last time they spoke they got in a heated argument; three weeks later the Cylons attacked, and Dualla never got a chance to reconcile with him ([[Final Cut]]).

At the time of the [[Cylon attack]] she monitors fleet-wide communications. Dualla is among the first to notice the unusually high levels of shipboard malfunctions and failures aboard other battlestars ([[Miniseries]]).

After the Cylon attack, she coordinates Fleet activities like [[FTL|jumps]] with Tactical Officer [[Felix Gaeta]]. In this responsibility, she discovers that the ''[[Olympic Carrier]]'' fails to Jump with the fleet after yet another Jump to escape a 5-day long, relentless attack by the Cylons after their escape from [[Ragnar Anchorage]] ([[33]]).

Due to his attraction to Dualla, presidential aide [[Billy Keikeya]] "volunteers" her to join an off-ship mission to the ''[[Astral Queen]]'' ([[Bastille Day]]). Led by Captain [[Lee Adama]], the mission is to attempt enlistment of prisoners aboard the ''Queen'' in resupplying ''Galactica'' with water following an act of sabotage ([[Water]]). During the mission, the team is taken hostage by prisoners during a jail break lead by fellow Sagittaron and political agitator [[Tom Zarek]].

[[Image:Dee and bee.jpg|thumb|left|'''Dualla''' and [[Billy Keikeya]] in the [[observation deck]] on a date ([[Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down]])]]
Freed without personal harm during this situation, Dualla returns Billy Keikeya's affections, and they date during off-duty periods ([[Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down]]).

When a party of [[Cylon Centurion|Cylons]] boards the Galactica, Dualla receives a concussion, but survives the engagement ([[Valley of Darkness]]). Later, Dualla aids in [[Laura Roslin]]'s escape from ''Galactica'' after the President's arrest by covering up the tracks of their secret communications coordinating their movements in the Fleet, and getting Colonel Tigh to sign permission to close off a causeway which they use as an escape route. At this time, Dualla seems to take a greater personal interest in [[Lee Adama|Apollo]] ([[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]).

Dualla is assigned to give [[D'anna Biers]] a tour around the battlestar as part of Biers' documentary of the ship ([[Final Cut]]). Lee Adama seems to return Dualla's personal attraction during a sparring exercise with the petty officer ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]).

Dualla's [[avionics]] training helps in building a stable communications package for the experimental [[Blackbird]] fighter ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]).

Keikeya, apparently attempting to solidify his relationship with the petty officer, proposes to Dualla, but she refuses. Keikeya later sees Dualla with Lee Adama on ''[[Cloud 9]]'' and accuses her of leading him on. Shortly after Keikeya's accusation, four terrorists commander the lounge and its occupants in exchange for the surrender of [[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|Sharon Valerii]]. When a ruse by Admiral [[William Adama]] is discovered, the [[Sesha Abinell|leader]] of the the terrorists orders Dualla's death. Keikeya intervenes and manages to shoot one of the terrorists, but his target fatally wounds Keikeya before dying. In the same battle, Lee Adama is left severely wounded from a friendly-fire incident during an ill-fated reconnaisance by [[Kara Thrace]]. Dualla promises to watch over Lee Adama until he recovers in [[sickbay]]. When he finally regained consciousness, Dualla was so happy that neither of them noticed Starbuck leaving the sickbay with a heartbroken expression ([[Sacrifice]]).
[[Image:Dee LDYBPII2.JPG|thumb|Dualla as executive officer of battlestar Pegasus ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]])]]
A few months later, still involved with Apollo, Dualla assists in the counting of ballots for the Presidential election. Dualla conspires with [[Tory Foster]] and [[Saul Tigh]] to rig the election in Roslin's favor, indicating that she comprehends the disaster that would follow if [[Gaius Baltar|Baltar]] is elected. Though the plot initially succeeds, Lt. Gaeta's curiosity leads to Admiral Adama's discovery of the duplicity. Adama covers up the plot but returns the vote, for better or worse, to its actual result, with Baltar being elected to the Presidency.

A year later, Dualla serves as Communications and Executive Officer on ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'', part of its skeletal crew in orbit around [[New Caprica]]. Dualla and Lee Adama's relationship appears ongoing, given the look she gives young Adama when Kara Thrace calls in one day. It is revealed in the season three opener that Dualla is married to Lee Adama ([[Occupation]]). Dualla's keen eyes pick up [[DRADIS]] contacts, which gave the Fleet advance warning to the arrival of a large Cylon fleet. The remnants of the Fleet escape, hoping to return to liberate New Caprica another day ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]).

== Notes ==

*Dualla's counterpart in the [[Battlestar Galactica (TOS)|Original Series]] is [[Rigel]]. According to [[Ron Moore]]'s [http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/blogs/ blog entry] on April 18, 2006, Dualla is actually more or less directly inspired by Rigel, saying Dualla is "filling the role of another woman in the original BSG series who used to man the communication system on their bridge. That character was called "Rigel" but I didn't think that name worked in the remake, so I gave her the name of Dualla."
*Dualla was known throughout all of the first season and part of of the second season only as "Dualla" or "Dee". Her first name was finally revealed in the episode, "[[Final Cut]]" in an on screen caption during her documentary interview; her first name has yet to be spoken aloud. "Anastasia" means "resurrection" in Greek.
*[[Grace Park]] initially auditioned for the role of Dualla, before being asked to audition for the role of [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]], and finally being cast as [[Sharon Valerii (Galactica copy)|Sharon "Boomer" Valerii]].
'''Louanne "Kat" Katraine''' is a young woman with some flying experience. She was selected as a candidate pilot ("[[nugget]]") for Viper training under the command of Lieutenant [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]] ([[Act of Contrition]]). While she may still be a new pilot, she has a taste for fighting, and is often on the front lines when ''[[Galactica]]'' engages [[Cylon]] forces.

== Biography ==

Katraine is selected from relative obscurity to become one of ''[[Galactica|Galactica's]]'' first intake of trainee pilots after 13 experienced pilots were killed in a freak accident ([[Act of Contrition]]).

Described as a "boonie jumper", Katraine is placed under the instruction of [[Kara Thrace]], alongside nugget pilots [[Brendan Constanza]] and [[Perry]], with whom she forms a friendship.

Thrown in at the deep end - flying [[Viper (RDM)|Vipers]] on their very first day of training, none of the nuggets perform particularly well - Kat in particular fails to make a [[Combat landing|combat landing]] on ''Galactica''. Thrace washes out the entire group of candidates until Commander [[William Adama]] later forces Thrace to reinstate them.

Katraine's training continues until she is selected to fly with [[Lee Adama]] during a raid to secure a [[tylium]] mine from the Cylons ([[The Hand of God (RDM)|The Hand of God]]). Her fellow nuggets [[Perry]] and [[Stepchild]] are killed in this action, but she and [[Brendan Constanza|Hot Dog]] survive and are greeted as heroes on their return to ''Galactica''.

Kat participates in the defense of ''Galactica'' when the battlestar becomes separated from [[The Fleet (RDM)|the Fleet]], and has to face down a Cylon [[Basestar (RDM)|basestar]] in order to relocate it ([[Scattered]]).

After Lee Adama's defection to the [[Laura Roslin faction]], his replacement, the newly promoted Captain [[George Birch]] negligently endangers Katraine during a training exercise. She is almost killed when Birch incorrectly directs her to attack an asteroid target as [[Brendan Constanza|Hot Dog]] fires a missile at the target. Katraine's improving piloting skills save her from a dangerous collision with debris ([[Home, Part I]]).

Kat is later promoted from cadet to the rank of Lieutenant. She becomes increasingly exhausted with the mounting pressures of service in the Fleet with long hours, constant danger, and no possiblity of reinforcement. While trying to combat her fatigue, Kat becomes dependent on [[stims]], of which the effects of their overuse make her emotionally unstable. She "moons" a documentary crew for her "buddies" on [[Freighter 212]], berates Chief [[Galen Tyrol|Tyrol]] for mechanical failures that are beyond his control, and later crashes her Viper into the [[landing bay]], totalling the vehicle ([[Final Cut]], [[Flight of the Phoenix]]). She is pulled from flight status for some time, but is reinstated by the time that the advanced battlestar ''Pegasus'' joins the Fleet , when she flies wingman to [[Lee Adama|Apollo]] on [[CAP]] when first contact is made with ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]''.

In the wake of Admiral Cain's integration of ''Galactica'' and ''Pegasus''' officers, Kat appears to have been made the acting-CAG of the ''Galactica'' flight team. With Starbuck and Apollo both transferred to ''Pegasus'' and the failure of Cpt. [[George Birch]] as [[CAG]] during Lee Adama's absence, Katraine appears to be the most likely choice to fill the command vacuum. She is flight leader of the Viper wing that stands off against the ''Pegasus'' Vipers. In spite of making repeated requests for firing clearance, she manages to keep the situation from degenerating into a fire fight, and avoids several collision attempts in the fighters' deadly "chicken" game, each attempting to force the other side to fire first ([[Resurrection Ship, Part I]]).

On day 189 of the human exodus, Kat is assigned CAP with [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]]. Kat's maturity and past insensitivity show growth when Starbuck orders her to stop her small talk about Starbuck's off-hours behavior, which Kat does so without skipping a beat and returns to business by requesting permission to do a weapons check. As Kat test-fires her Viper's guns, an ammo misfire destroys Kat's port gun and sends debris at Starbuck's Viper, cracking her cockpit window. The two declare an emergency and safely return to ''Galactica.'' The cause of the malfunction was soon determined to be sabotage later blamed on a civiilan ammunition worker that is part of the "[[Demand Peace]]" movement ([[Epiphanies]]).

Katraine is more than personally upset with Starbuck's apparent behavior issues--and doesn't really care. While Kat obviously admires Kara Thrace, she tires quickly of Starbuck's drinking and bragging, which is affecting her work, and in turn affecting the pilots, especially the [[nugget]]s. Fed up with Starbuck's lording over the "Top Gun" beer stein as well as the rampaging Raider ace known as "[[Scar (Raider)|Scar]]," Kat makes a bet with Starbuck on who will destroy the morale-sucking Raider first.

Kat manages pilot combat reviews, having become a highly skilled tactical pilot herself. She grimaces at Starbuck's inefficiencies and chimes in often to correct or chide Starbuck, much to Thrace's chagrin. Things come to a head in their rivalry when Kat openly criticizes Starbuck for substituting [[Jo-Jo]] for patrol rather than flying herself (she awoke that morning hungover and unable to fly). Jo-Jo and his wingman are both killed, and Kat is incensed. But instead of Starbuck delivering the first punch, it's Kat that delivers it. Their fight is interrupted by Captain [[Lee Adama|Adama]], who orders them on patrol near the [[Big Spud]]. Kat and Starbuck find Scar, and Starbuck's Viper is damaged in a near-successful ambush. The consummate wingman, Kat continually speaks to Starbuck to get a bearing, although Starbuck resists out of pride rather than working jointly to destroy Scar. When Starbuck realizes that because of [[Samuel Anders]] she doesn't want to die in order to take Scar with her, she guides Kat in to her position, where Kat delivers the killing blow to Scar.

Kat chides Starbuck once more in the pilot's recreation room as she held the Top Gun mug. Starbuck pours champagne in the mug and tells Kat, "You've earned it." Kat's slight smile in response was not only that of smugness, but also that of honor--for Starbuck to tell her that she was (at least for the time being) the best--is pleasing as a master would compliment a student ([[Scar]]). Kat's smugness was short-lived, as Starbuck offered a toast to all the pilots who have died during their flight from the colonies. Overwhelmed with the memory of lost comrades, Kat nearly burst into tears.

By the time of the Cylon invasion of [[New Caprica]], with Lee Adama in command of the ''Pegasus'' and Kara Thrace having left the fleet and settled planetside, Katraine has been promoted to ''Galactica'''s [[CAG]] ([[Exodus, Part I]]). During the [[Battle of New Caprica]], she leads a group of Vipers escorting decoy [[Raptor]]s, and presumably assists in the defense of ''Galactica'' in the following space battle ([[Exodus, Part II]]). Following the destruction of ''Pegasus'', Lee Adama returns to ''Galactica'' and replaces Katraine as the CAG, who in turn becomes the leader of [[Blue Squadron]] ([[Torn]]).

==Notes==
*Katraine's first name, Louanne, was revealed in the episode "[[Final Cut]]" during her inteview with [[D'anna Biers]].
*Some of Kat's family may also have survived the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]] - Kat shouted "Hi, Mom!" while waving into the camera in "[[Final Cut]]". However, she may have been speaking facetiously.
*In the DVD commentary for "[[Act of Contrition]]", David Eick and Ron D. Moore elaborate on the increased role of the nugget pilots as the series progressed:

:Eick: This young actress playing Kat has proven to be--and there's Bodie Olmos, Eddie's son, in the center there who's Hot Dog, he's also become a recurring character.
:RDM: Well those three in the front, [[Chuckles]], [[Hot Dog]], and Kat, they all became "pilots" to us. And I don't think we really had any expectation of that. The idea was we were going to do "the nuggets", "the new pilots", was just going to be its own kind of story, and ''maybe'' you might see one of these guys again later. And what started happening is the writers just started putting them in, like almost every scene that we dealt with the pilots (of Galactica) so these ''became'' our "recognizable faces".
:Eick: Kat is quite fine. She's someone we're now talking about, and have already, built into a much more prominent character. She's just a really, really talented actor, and she's someone who in a very different way than Katee (Starbuck), just exemplifies that sort of masculine fortitude, despite being a woman, that is required to be a pilot like this. In one of the upcoming episodes ([[Scar]]), we're actually going to deal with the tension between Kara Thrace and Kat.
:RDM: Yeah, what happens when your protege starts outdistancing you. What happens when you train this young pilot, and it's great that she's a hot shot and all that, and then wait a minute, what if she starts being better than you?
Starbuck pours champagne in the mug and tells Kat, "You've earned it." Kat's slight smile in response was not that of __smugness__, but that of honor--for Starbuck to tell her that she was (at least for the time being) the best--is pleasing as a master would compliment a student (Scar). Kat's __smugness__ was short-lived, as Starbuck offered a toast to all the pilots who have died during their flight from the colonies. :::::Because everything has to be spelled out and everyone has their own option,

:::::''Commander, Air Group, or CAG, refers to the senior officer responsible for air operations aboard an aircraft carrier of the U.S. Navy. The term traces its origins to 1938 when the first Carrier Air Group was formed. Air Groups were redesignated as Carrier Air Wings, or CVWs in the 1970s, but the head of the air wing is still referred to as the CAG.On a Royal Navy aircraft carrier, the equivalent is the Commander (Air).''

:::::Anyone, even if are acting is considered reponsible. I beleive she was the one asking for permission to fire. Not other pilots. --[[User:Shane|Shane]] ([[User_Talk:Shane|T]] - [[Special:Contributions/Shane|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/Shane|E]]) 20:07, 26 March 2006 (CST)
::::::That just means she was the leader of the mission. If Starbuck was leading a flight of 10 Vipers and Apollo was on Galactica doing paperwork, she wouldn't be CAG but would still lead the flight. Now Kat could be the CAG but we are just never told one way or another. --[[User:Talos|Talos]] 20:15, 26 March 2006 (CST)
:::::::By that time Lee (Lt.) was in a Raptor, and Kara was coming back from the Reserrection Ship Recon. How could any one of those two people be CAG while they were not even on board Galalcita nor under Galalcicia control at the time? --[[User:Shane|Shane]] ([[User_Talk:Shane|T]] - [[Special:Contributions/Shane|C]] - [[Special:Editcount/Shane|E]]) 20:27, 26 March 2006 (CST)
::::::::I'm saying that Kat was a junior pilot. Any of the surviving pilots from before the attack would be more senior than her. If she wasn't the CAG, it's quite possible that it was a Raptor pilot. For all we know, Cain assigned a Pegasus pilot as CAG and he refused to fight his own ship (just speculation). --[[User:Talos|Talos]] 20:36, 26 March 2006 (CST)
==Smug?==

"Kat chides Starbuck once more in the pilot's recreation room as she held the Top Gun mug. Overwhelmed with the memory of lost comrades, Kat nearly burst into tears. {{unsigned|Niethan}}"
To clarify: is she smug or not? [[User:Niethan|Niethan]] 11:53, 20 June 2006 (CDT)

:That was my interpretation of the matter. Emotions were running high there, and even Commander Adama is grinning there, apparently aware of the mercurial nature of having to hand over the Top Gun mug when you're bested. Kat's grin might be more of "smug satisfaction" than merely the "nah-nah" teasing grin that Starbuck uses. The differences are small, I'll admit. --[[User:Spencerian|Spencerian]] 12:05, 20 June 2006 (CDT)

::Saying she isn't smug then saying the opposite ten words later is plain bad style, not a matter of interpretation ;) [[User:Niethan|Niethan]] 12:19, 20 June 2006 (CDT)

==Kat's rank==

Does anyone have a screenshot of her with Captain's insignia? I only have relatively low-res video files, but in "Torn" when she walks across the hangar deck at the beginning, she wears Lt. pips as far as I can tell.
:If I remember correctly, Kat's Viper Mk VII was marked "Lt. Louanne Katraine" during the mock dogfight scene. --[[User:Talos|Talos]] 16:44, 9 November 2006 (CST)
::Are Lt.s and Lt. JG's marked differently on Vipers? For, in [http://www.caprica-city.de/users/pedda/kat/newcag.jpg this picture] - which was probably taken during the production of early season 3 episodes - Kat wears Lt. JG insignia. - [[User:Pedda|Pedda]] 16:48, 9 November 2006 (CST)
::Watching over the mock dogfight scene, her rank/name/callsign are never shown on the Viper. However, based on the above photo and no hard evidence that she's a Captain, I'm putting her rank in the article back to Lieutenant. - [[User:Ratamacue|Ratamacue]] 17:42, 9 November 2006 (CST)

== Biography ==

By the time of the Cylon invasion of [[New Caprica]], with Lee Adama in command of the ''Pegasus'' and Kara Thrace having left the fleet and settled planetside, Katraine has been promoted to Captain and placed as ''Galactica'''s [[CAG]] ([[Exodus, Part I]]).

==Notes==

By the time of the Cylon invasion of [[New Caprica]], with Lee Adama in command of the ''Pegasus'' and Kara Thrace having left the fleet and settled planetside, Katraine has been promoted to Captain and placed as the ''Galactica'' [[CAG]]. ([[Exodus, Part I]]) During the [[Battle of New Caprica]], she leads a group of Vipers escorting decoy [[Raptor]]s, and presumably assists in the defense of Galactica in the following space battle. ([[Exodus, Part II]]) Following the destruction of the ''Pegasus'', Lee Adama returns to the ''Galactica'' and replaces Katraine as the CAG. ([[Torn]])

==Notes==

Lieutenant '''Felix Gaeta''' {{IPA|&#x02C8;ge&#x026A;.t&#x0259;}} is a young, capable officer in the Colonial military. For the three years prior to the [[Cylon attack]] on the [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies]], he has served as [[William Adama]]'s Senior Officer of the Watch aboard battlestar ''[[Galactica]]''.

Prior to the attack, he was studying biogenetics and planned to get a degree through the military extension program ([[Water]]).

He exhibits a strong attention to detail and is highly efficient. These tendencies and his overall ability have led William Adama to rely heavily on him as a member of ''Galactica's'' command crew, despite his relative youth and junior rank.

As well as performing the role of Tactical Officer, Gaeta also manages the ship's [[FTL]] systems, including the calculation and initiation of Jumps. Gaeta also manages the needs of the various primary [[Computers|computer systems]] used on the battlestar.

==Remarkable Brillance==

As a result of his studies in biogenetics, Lt. Gaeta is selected by Adama to assist Dr. [[Gaius Baltar]] in the development of the much-needed [[Cylon detector]] following the Cylon attack([[Water]]). During his time working with Baltar, Gaeta develops a certain respect and liking for the doctor - despite the latter's apparent eccentricities. When a woman called "[[Shelly Godfrey]]" arrives on-board ''Galactica'', Gaeta works hard to prove Baltar's innocence of the charges levelled against him ([[Six Degrees of Separation]]). Although he is ultimately successful, Gaeta fails to follow-up on the fact that the photographic evidence supplied by "Shelly Godfrey" looked as if the evidence itself had been faked in a way that ensured it was exposed as a forgery.

Gaeta shows his remarkable brilliance after ''Galactica'' mistakenly Jumps to a different set of coordinates than the rest of [[The Fleet (RDM)|the Fleet]] to escape a Cylon attack ([[Scattered]]). The [[FTL]] computers compensate for spatial changes, but due to the chaos after [[William Adama|Commander Adama]] is shot by [[Sharon Valerii (Galactica copy)|Boomer]], Gaeta does not have time to synchronize the spatial positioning with the rest of the Fleet, whose FTL computers had collectively different information. Complicating the issue, if ''Galactica'' returns to their original position, the Cylons would destroy the ship before it could retrieve the correct Fleet coordinates using standard procedure.

Gaeta blames himself (although [[Saul Tigh]] did not), but later realizes that by networking four computers of the ship (something Commander Adama may never have approved), he could reduce the coordinate calculation time from hours to minutes. Knowing the Cylons would try to crack his ''ad hoc'' network, Gaeta sets up five [[Wikipedia:Firewall (networking)|firewalls]] in the network to slow their progress while the ship's guns and Vipers buy the needed time to calculate. Unfortunately for Gaeta, the firewalls are not completely effective. Several power and CIC systems were disabled by a Cylon infection while [[Cylon Centurion]]s board the ship ([[Valley of Darkness]]). Gaeta scrambles to purge the systems of any remaining traces of the [[Virus|virus]].

==Under Pressure==

Gaeta's calm exterior shows signs of wear when his interview with [[D'anna Biers]] shows him somewhat drunk, smoking, and brandishing a rather garish [[tattoo]] of a tiger ([[Final Cut]]). Viewers learn from the footage that Gaeta's first name is Felix.

The Cylon virus rears its ugly head once more a few weeks later when shipboard malfunctions increase to a point where consoles begin to sputter and short out. Gaeta confirms that the same virus they thought they had removed from the formerly-networked computers had metamorphized into a heuristic program--a [[Logic bomb|logic bomb]]--that studied and probed flaws in the battlestar's computers and the hardware that each system manages. The logic bomb threatened to disable the ship's human control on a Cylon fighter's command--and a Cylon attack force was imminent.

After Colonel Tigh's command to perform the daunting task of inspecting many lines of computer code for a Cylon virus, the young lieutenant completely loses his cool:

:'''Gaeta''': A power surge energized the board. System's been twitchy ever since the Cylons infiltrated our network.<br/>
:'''Tigh''': Commander's right. I don't care if you have to go through this program line by line; fix it.<br/>
:'''Gaeta''': Excuse me?<br/>
:'''Tigh''': You heard me.<br/>
:'''Gaeta''': Sir, I'm running every diagnostic we've got. Checking each line of code could take days.<br/>
:'''Tigh''': I am not interested in excuses. Fix it!<br/>
:'''Gaeta''': It's not an excuse, sir. It's a [[frak|frakking]] fact!<br/>

Everyone on the bridge, especially Commander Adama, is shocked by Gaeta's highly uncharacteristic outburst, but Adama is not particularly surprised, knowing that everyone on ''Galactica'' has low morale after working for months with no relief or change to their routine.

Gaeta has a solution for the logic bomb: Wipe all computer hard drives and restore them from backups made before the Cylon attack. The problem in doing this is that ''Galactica'' will be completely vulnerable to attack, save for her Viper fighters, for several minutes as her computers are rebuilt.

Against his instincts and on [[Laura Roslin]]'s advice, Adama opts to use the unique abilities of the cooperative [[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|Caprica copy of Sharon Valerii]] to aid them. Gaeta gives the humanoid Cylon a fiber-optic data link with access to the battlestar mainframe computer and the ship's communications. After a few tense moments, Valerii asks Gaeta to perform the computer hard drive wipe after taking into her computer/brain a copy of the Cylon virus. She manipulates it and transmits to the massive incoming Cylon fleet, disabling the entire Cylon fleet in the same way that the Colonials suffered in the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]]. The Colonial forces [[Great Cylon Turkey Shoot|destroy the entire Cylon force]] without a single Colonial casualty ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]).

Gaeta is among the tense officers and crew in CIC that witness a standoff between their battlestar and the heavily-advanced battlestar ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'', whose commander, Admiral [[Helena Cain]], has opted to execute two ''Galactica'' crew members after she tried them herself and against Adama's requests for the rights of his crew to have a fair, open trial ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]).

== The Presidential Election and New Caprica ==

During the presidential election, Gaeta was assigned to aid and oversee the ballot counting process on ''Galactica''. He also aided in thwarting Roslin's plans to steal the election (though he never apparently knew -- or indicated any knowledge of -- who exactly was behind it, other than Colonel [[Saul Tigh]]) by discovering the illegitimate ballots from the ''[[Zephyr]]''. The only reason he realized that the ''Zephyr'''s ballots were tampered with were due to the fact that the ''Zephyr''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s original, valid ballots had misspelled Gaius Baltar's name -- the fixed ballots did not share this error. (Gaeta had authorized the go-ahead to use the misspelled ballots due to the lack of time to print new ones prior to the opening of the polls.)
Unfortunately, due to this happenstance discovery, Baltar, who had been rightfully voted as President-Elect, was sworn in as president and ordered the Fleet to colonize [[New Caprica]].

A year later on [[New Caprica]], Gaeta seems to be an adviser to President [[Gaius Baltar]]. His previous post on ''Galactica'' was assumed by [[Karl Agathon]]. While Gaeta was pleased that there had been no Cylon attacks during Baltar's presidency, he disapproved of Baltar's womanizing and was secretly infuriated at Baltar's devil-may-care attitude towards the New Caprica City Worker's Union and the Quorum of Twelve. Gaeta later brought news of the Cylon invasion to the president and was present when Baltar surrendered New Caprica to [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Number Five]]. ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]).

Gaeta was also the [[New Caprica Resistance]] inside source into the inner workings of the Cylons. He seemed to favor an assassination of President Baltar as he provides the group with information that he was going to attend the [[New Caprica Police]] force graduation, which was disrupted by [[Duck]]'s suicide bombing. However, upon learning that Baltar was not attending, he rushed to contact the group to warn them Baltar was not going to be there. ([[Occupation]])

== Inside Man ==
Being the "inside man" allowed him to help the [[New Caprica Resistance]] understand the inner Cylon related activities and security procedures on [[New Caprica]]. For him to contact the group he flipped [[Jake (New Caprica)|Jake]]'s yellow bowl upside down and left a note or information packet in a nearby tool bin for the [[New Caprica Resistance|resistance]] to find. [[Galen Tyrol]] did not know that he was the "inside man" and when they did talk, Tyrol accused of him being a Collaborator. ([[Precipice]])

== End of the Baltar Administration ==
As the Cylons were preparing to evacuate during the [[Battle of New Caprica]], Gaeta pulled a gun on a distraught President Baltar, clearly intending to kill him. [[Caprica-Six]] attempted to dissuade Gaeta from this course of action. In contrast to his companion's feelings, Baltar seemed fully willing to die; but he told Gaeta that he was the only one who could stop a [[Number Three]]-model Cylon from detonating a nuclear weapon hidden somewhere in the city of New Caprica. This convinced the reluctant Gaeta to let Baltar go, giving the disgraced leader a chance to redeem himself ([[Exodus, Part II]]). Gaeta is presumably on Colonial One when it leaves the planet and is in Galactica's hanger during the post-battle celebration.

== Return to Duty ==
Gaeta is initially isolated from the Galactica's crew and those who were on New Caprica. Because of his high position in the collaborationist government, they believe he carried out the will of the Cylons. When he arrived in CIC to help with repairs to the communication systems damaged during the recent battle, former resistance leader Colonel Tigh was openly hostile toward him. Gaeta attempted to defend his actions in a tense conversation with [[Kara Thrace]] by revealing himself as Tyrol's mysterious informant. Starbuck didn't know about the informant, since she was a captive of [[Leoben Conoy]] during the four-month Cylon occupation. She mocked her crewmate and dismissed his revelation as a poorly-fabricated lie.

When Gaeta's name came up for review in the [[The Circle]], he was convicted of the crime of collaborating with the enemy and sentenced to death, despite the lack of evidence against him. The six-person tribunal took him to a Viper launch tube to face his sentence. When asked to defend himself, Gaeta said that he already did and refused to beg for his life. This infuriated Starbuck, who lashed out at him in a physical attack and resumed the mocking she had started in the mess hall. Upon hearing Starbuck repeat information about the dog bowl, Galen Tyrol realizes that Gaeta was indeed the informant from inside the Baltar administration. Gaeta is released and sent on his way. He resumed his duties as a Lieutenant, still shunned by most of his crewmates except Tyrol ([[Collaborators]]).

==Note==
*While Gaeta is described as the "Tactical Officer", his role is closer to that of the US Navy's CIC Watch Officer (CICWO), combining it with elements of the Tactical Watch Officer (TAO), a role also partially fulfilled by [[Saul Tigh|Colonel Tigh]], both under the command of [[William Adama]]. According to the official SciFi.com character data file, Gaeta's title is "Senior Officer of the Watch", although the title of Tactical Officer may have a better "ring" to the ears of most viewers.
*The name "Felix" means "Happy" in Latin; the connotations of the Latin word imply being fortunate, lucky, prosperous, or "favored by the gods". It first appeared in the episode ''[[Final Cut]]''.
*[[Wikipedia:Gaeta|Gaeta]] is the name of a small seaport and resort in southern Italy. This goes well with his Latin first name.
*His counterpart in the original "Battlestar Galactica" is Sgt. [[Omega]], a [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Sagittaron|Sagittaron]] native.
*In the [[Miniseries]], Gaeta's name is usually pronounced "Guy-tah" {{IPA|ˈgaɪ.tə}}. However, in all subsequent installments of the regular series, everyone pronounces it as "Gay-tah" {{IPA|ˈgeɪ.tə}}; however, Col. [[Saul Tigh]] seems to vacillate between {{IPA|ˈgeɪ.tə}} and {{IPA|ˈgaɪ.tə}}.
*There is speculation among fans that Gaeta is another [[Cylon agent speculation|Cylon infiltrator]].
Leader of the human [[Caprica Resistance|resistance group]] on [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Caprica|Caprica]], '''Samuel T. Anders''' was also the captain of the professional [[Pyramid (RDM)|Pyramid]] team known as the [[Caprica Buccaneers]].

==Biography==
Anders was leading his team in high-altitude training in the mountains outside of [[Delphi]] when the [[Cylon Attack]] occurred and the planet was bombarded with nuclear weapons.

Being in a high-altitude rural area shielded Anders and his team from the blasts and most of the radioactive fallout that followed. He and the Buccaneers became ''ad hoc'' resistance fighters from that point forward, raiding armories and collecting caches of weapons, anti-radiation medication, ammo and supplies in the hopes of staying alive and defending themselves against the Cylons.
[[image:Resistance-Anders_Starbuck.jpg|thumb|left|'''Anders''' and [[Kara Thrace]] play [[Pyramid (RDM)|Pyramid]] at the [[Caprica Resistance]]'s HQ on [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Caprica|Caprica]] in "[[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]".]]
Anders was able to rally upwards of 100 people, mostly hikers and survivalists, to his resistance against the Cylons and from the former [[Delphi Union High School]] he was able to strike back at the Cylons for nine months. Unlike [[Karl Agathon|Helo]], the Caprica-based (and pregnant) [[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|Sharon Valerii]], and [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]], Anders seems to be focused more on surviving on Caprica than he is with leaving the planet. Anders and his resistance members encountered Starbuck and Helo two months after the initial Cylon attack ([[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]).

Anders' main focus for a time is keeping himself and his resistance movement alive long enough for Starbuck to return to Caprica once again with reinforcements from ''Galactica'' and evacuate them. Starbuck gave him her [[Identification tags|fleet ID tags]] as a promise that she would come back for him. Aside from surviving and waiting for rescue, Anders planned to locate and destroy as many Cylon hybrid-producing "farms" as possible before Starbuck returns ([[The Farm]]).

Anders and the resistance movement began conducting acts of terrorism against the Cylons after they appropriated Delphi for their own. His aim was to scare the Cylons into believing there is no safe place for them and to kill them in the most gruesome way possible so they remember when they are reborn what it is like to die violently, like in an explosion ([[Downloaded]]).

Anders' physical features vaguely resemble [[Lee Adama|Apollo]], which perhaps explains Starbuck's immediate attraction to him. However, Anders appears much more self-assured than Apollo.

Following the Cylon's reappropriation of Delphi, Anders and his fighters continued their insurgency, and carried out a series of attacks on the Cylons, the most notable of which was the destruction of a café which killed roughly 40 Cylons. Anders, having planted the bomb in a garage, was prevented from leaving when he had to stay and defend the bomb from a Centurion. Hiding behind a car on the other side of the garage, Anders was mostly protected from the blast but buried under some rubble, and was not comforted to be later "rescued" by [[Sharon Valerii (Galactica copy)|Sharon]] and [[Number Three]]. Anders was spared, as he would be a useful source of information. When [[Caprica-Six]] began talking about genocide and God's love, Anders didn't understand, but used the opening to try and kill Three. Sharon knocked the gun out of his hand, and Three was more than willing to take revenge, but all were astonished when Six suddenly killed her. Heeding Six's orders to get out, Anders fled, still puzzled by what had transpired ([[Downloaded]]).

Anders survived an assault by the Cylons at the resistance's headquarters -- the same morning that the Caprica [[SAR]] team landed nearby. When retreating to the Raptors, the Cylons assaulted them ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I]]), forcing them to go to higher ground. After the Cylons stopped attacking them, Thrace feared the worst and had Anders promise to kill her -- so that the Cylons would be unable to put her in one of their [[farms]] -- and she promised that she would kill him as well. Fortunately, this was not the case as the Cylons had left the Colonies and that the survivors of their attack were spared.

After Anders had been rescued, he and Thrace had developed a relationship -- eventually forcing a rift to occur between Thrace and Lee Adama. They had married and moved to [[New Caprica]]. During the 380th day of Baltar's presidency, he had developed [[Wikipedia:pneumonia|pneumonia]], forcing Thrace to beg Lee Adama to release some antibiotics reserved for the ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'''s pilots.

After the Cylons occupy New Caprica, Anders is visited by a copy of [[Leoben Conoy]] who inquires on Kara Thrace's whereabouts ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]). Since the Cylons had forced the ''Pegasus'' and the defense fleet away from New Caprica, the antibiotics are no longer avaliable to help Anders. Wowever he recoverers from his sickness ([[Occupation]]), and becomes one of the leaders of the [[New Caprica Resistance]] along with [[Saul Tigh]] and [[Galen Tyrol]].

Anders and Tyrol partake in a plot to bomb a Cylon Heavy Raider four months after the beginning of the "[[Occupation]]".

==Notes==
*"Ander" is derived from a Greek term meaning "Man" (a well known example would be that "Anderson" means "Son of Man", etc). Fitting, given that Anders is leading the last free humans alive on Caprica in a resistance against the Cylons: it's literally a fight of "Man" versus Machines.
== Overview ==

Following the end of the [[Cylon War]], the Cylons withdrew from Colonial space to a planet of their own. For some 40 years, nothing was heard of them, and no apparent attempt was made by the Colonials to keep an eye on them. The only contact expected between the two was created by the Colonial government through planned annual diplomatic meetings at [[Armistice Station]]. However, while the Colonials sent a repesentative to the station every year, the Cylons did not ([[Miniseries]]).

During their forty years of isolation, the Cylons developed or evolved a ''humanoid form''<ref name="humanoids">The idea of Cylons in humanoid form is not new. This concept appeared over 25 years earlier in the episode "[[The Night the Cylons Landed, Part I|The Night the Cylons Landed]]" in the short-lived spinoff of the Original Series, ''[[Galactica 1980]]''.</ref> that is indistinguishable with the human form, down to the cellular level, but not completely at a molecular level. These '''Cylon agents'''<ref name="name">Viewers initially lacked an authentic term to call the humanoid Cylons during season 1 of the series. Here on the ''Battlestar Wiki'', the descriptive term "Humano-Cylon" was used for a time. Dialogue in several episodes throughout season 2 have consistently used "Cylon agent" to describe the humanoid Cylons. Other names are also used, such as "humanoid-Cylons" (which [[Tricia Helfer]] often uses in interviews, but apparently more for convenience than an official name), or "Bio-Cylons" which is sometimes used derisively by fans of the [[Battlestar Galactica (TOS)|Original Series]].
*Some of the resistance fighters on Caprica refer to the Cylon agents as "Skin Jobs," a script reference to ''[[Wikipedia:Blade Runner|Blade Runner]]''.</ref> have the capacity to emulate many human physical acts, including sex, as demonstrated by the Number Six and Sharon Valerii models. Cylon agents also display convincingly human personalities (affection, jealousy, sadness, anger, sense of humor etc.) In fact, they do so even when interacting with other Cylons outside of Colonial scrutiny, making it clear that these personalities are real. The majority of the Cylons follow a monotheistic religion (with the possible exception of the [[Cavil|Brother Cavil model]]).

Cylon agents can be programmed to believe that they are truly human. These are known as 'sleeper agents'. Sleeper agents appear to have a low-level Cylon personality that can conduct operations while placing the human sleeper personality "on-hold." The [[Sharon Valerii (Galactica copy)|first copy of Sharon Valerii]], known by her callsign of "Boomer" on battlestar ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'', had little awareness of her true nature until her arrest for the attempted assassination of [[William Adama]] ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]). This sleeper agent conducts or aids in sabotage operations within the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] ([[Water]], [[Litmus]]). Most agent copies, particularly [[Number Five|Numbers Five]] [[Number Six|and Six]], imitate human behavior, but are fully aware of their true nature and behave more or less like a human "spy."

[[Image:Valerii_optic_input.jpg|left|thumb|[[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|Caprica-Valerii]] interfaces with ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica's]]'' [[Computers|mainframe computer]] and communication systems by fiber-optic link]]
Although they cannot do so remotely or wirelessly, Cylon agents can interface with a computer system or computer network through subdermal physical contact with input cables connected to the devices. In "[[Flight of the Phoenix]]," Caprica-Valerii connected to ''Galactica'''s computers by this method when she inserted a fiber-optic cable through her left palm and into her arm. This subdermal fiber-optical link suggests that certain tissues in a Cylon agent are photo-reactive. The process involves cutting an opening into the agent's palm and appears painful, so it may not be a common method of data access.

A Cylon agent's brain is certainly human in appearance, but is apparently still susceptible to damage from certain types of radiation. Upon the death of an agent's body, a Cylon agent transfers its consciousness into another copy of itself. This ability is limited by distance, signal integrity, and proximity to a resurrection node or, in space, a [[Resurrection Ship]] ([[Miniseries]], "[[Flesh and Bone]]," "[[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]").

Based on [[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|Caprica Sharon Valerii]]'s conversation with [[Kara Thrace]] in the episode, "[[The Farm]]," it appears that all Cylon agents may share a ''collective knowledgebase'' of data from other active or deactivated Cylon agents. (A collective knowledgebase works more like an internet chat forum, or even a wiki, which differs from the concept of the collective consciousness as seen in SF characters such as the Borg in ''Star Trek.'' Writers of the show have indicated this type of "hive mind" is not used with agents.)

Valerii spoke of a conversation between Thrace and the second captured [[Leoben Conoy]] copy in the Fleet. This information would only be known to that now-dead Leoben copy if sharing were not possible. Kara Thrace's call sign, Starbuck, was also a likely bit of information gleaned from the collective knowledgebase that [[Simon]] knew of the Viper pilot, although Thrace never told him of her call sign and used it to strike back at her abductors ([[The Farm]]). Also, during "[[Flight of the Phoenix]]," Caprica-Valerii asks [[Anastasia Dualla]] if she still carried her pocket knife, a fact which should have been known only to the ''Galactica'' copy. When under duress, "Boomer" Valerii is able to tell [[Gaius Baltar]] the number of remaining Cylon agent agents in the Fleet, information that would be impossible to gather without a collective knowledgebase to all agents ([[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]).

Some or all Cylon "female" models may have the capacity to bear children seeded by human males ("[[33]]," "[[Flesh and Bone]]," "[[The Hand of God (RDM)|The Hand of God]]", "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]"). The Cylons tested numerous methods of sexual reproduction, yet these failed due to a known flaw in the Cylon agent design. Cylon agents cannot reproduce with each other biologically, so in an attempt to subvert this deficiency, they try to interbreed with humans, creating hybrid offspring. "[[Farms]]" were apparently set up across all the occupied Colonies where survivors, specifically, young fertile women of child-bearing age, were rounded up, placed under heavy sedation and turned into "baby machines" through artificial insemination (Ron Moore said there are presumably also farms for male humans, plus in vitro experiment labs, etc.). However, this method has been unsuccessful thus far. Another drastically different approach is taken by attempting to conceive a child through a bond of love. It seems that [[Karl Agathon|Helo]] and [[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|Caprica-Sharon Valerii]]'s love-child is the lone success story of the relatively short history of Cylon sexual reproduction ([[The Farm]]).

== Known Cylon Agent Models ==
[[Image:Cylonagentdossier.jpg|right|200px]]
There are twelve models of Cylon agents ([[Miniseries]]), representing twelve archetypes the Cylons have witnessed in humanity. Thus far, seven models have been revealed to ''viewers'' as Cylon agents<ref name="dossier">The term "Known Cylon agents" is shown on a dossier on the models shown on [[Laura Roslin]]'s desk on ''[[Colonial One]]'' in the episode "[[Epiphanies]]."</ref>. However, only '''six''' models are actually known to the Colonial ''characters'' as agents as of the episode, "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]." Of each model there are many copies, probably tens or hundreds of thousands. Each Cylon agent has the same face, stature, hair, eye & skin color, gender, etc. as all the others of his or her model. The copies apparently start out with the same basic personality, but grow more distinct due to their individual experiences.

=== [[Number Three]] ===

[[Image:Biers Downloaded.JPG|thumb|left|Number Three]]
This model was witnessed by viewers posing as a reporter from the [[Fleet News Service]] and was revealed to be a Cylon at the end of "[[Final Cut]]" when a second copy was shown living on Caprica. Of all the Cylon agent models revealed to viewers, the Colonials are not yet aware that D'anna Biers is a Cylon agent as of the season two finale, "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]". Three's seem to be the most calculating and two-faced models shown. The copy that tried to box Sharon Valerii exibited these chracteristics the most. Part of Biers' mission within ''Galactica's'' fleet (which fits her work as a journalist) likely involves the relay of important intelligence within the Fleet, such as the status of the pregnant Caprica copy of Sharon Valerii. This model's status as a Cylon is currently unknown to the Colonials, except for the members of the [[Caprica Resistance]].

A copy of this model has appeared under the name/alias "[[D'anna Biers]]."
<div style="clear: both;"></div>

=== [[Number Five]] ===

[[Image:Doral.jpg|thumb|Number Five]]
This model attempts to sow the seeds of discontent or confusion, particularly during crucial life-threatening situations, and endeavors to undermine authority that threatens his objectives ([[Miniseries]]). Doral models are more covert, assuming an ordinary "everyman" appearance that's blended in what may seem to be insignificant behind-the-scenes issues (such as converting ''Galactica'' into a museum). Of all the models thus far, the Aaron Doral models are the most militant, fanatic and consistent in message and objectives to the Cylon objectives, whether he is dispassionately discussing the fate of humanity with his comrades or attempting to kill or maim Colonials in a suicide bomb attack ([[Litmus]]). Viewers first meet Doral during a tour of ''Galactica'' with other Colonial citizens (possibly the press) as we see the battlestar for the first time at the start of the [[Miniseries]]. Viewers aren't sure of Doral's true identity as the second Cylon agent until the Miniseries' conclusion.

Copies of this model have appeared under the name/alias "[[Aaron Doral]]."

A copy of Number Five is seen with [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Sharon Valerii (Galactica copy)]] at the end of Season 2, and seems to be in command of the others. While Six and Sharon express concern and warning to Baltar and the New Capricans, Five expresses a tone of unmistakable threat.

A copy of Number Five (presumably the same entity seen at the end of Season 2) has [[Jammer]] detained, and is questioning him at the [[New Caprica Detention Center]] in Webisode 7. He shows classic tactics to try to buy the young refugee's trust, and eventually glean information from him about the [[resistance]]. He provides [[Jammer]] with an unknown Cylon device which will allow him to alert this Five in order to report further uprisings for the sake of peace.
<div style="clear: both;"></div>

=== [[Number Six]] ===

[[Image:Whiterainsix 33.JPG|thumb|left|Number Six]]
This is the first Cylon agent model shown to viewers at the start of the [[Miniseries]].

This model utilizes the human need / desire for sexual relations to her advantage. She tends to be very religious and monotheistic. Model 6 desires to know what it is to be alive. There is something inherently enigmatic about her, more so than with the other models. Sixes have been described as "usually so hardcore", referring to their tendencies towards violence.

Typically she is the alpha female, as demonstrated on multiple occasions ([[Miniseries]], [[33]], [[Water]], [[Six Degrees of Separation]]).

Copies of this model have appeared under the names/aliases "[[Shelly Godfrey]]" , "[[Gina]]", and "[[Caprica-Six|Caprica]]" (in honor of her work on Caprica towards the destruction of the Colonies).

A virtual personality of Number Six haunts [[Gaius Baltar]] in a manner only he can see or hear. Throughout seasons one and two of the series, viewers presume this "virtual Six" was the "[[Caprica-Six]]" persona destroyed in the Miniseries. However, this persona appears not to be the same consciousness as Caprica-Six at all. Not only does Baltar's virtual Six appear to have a separate, destructive agenda from the reanimated [[Caprica-Six]] (containing the same personality template that infiltrates the Colonial military and falls in love with Baltar), but Caprica-Six is ''herself'' haunted by a virtual ''Gaius Baltar.'' See the [[Cylon-Related Hallucinations]] article for more on this confusing, but intriguing turn of events.
<div style="clear: both;"></div>

=== [[Number Eight]] ===

[[Image:Boomerraincoat Colonialday.JPG|thumb|Number Eight]]
Number Eight is generally a saboteur designed to infiltrate Colonial military units and is likely programmed to use any Colonial munitions to cause havoc ([[Water]]). The Number Eight model is the closest witnessed Cylon agent model to show its abilities as a soldier. This model has shown naiveté in many matters. She is apparently not as religious as other Cylon models, but has demonstrated that she can love, and is capable of being impregnated by a human ([[Six Degrees of Separation]], [[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]). She may be "defective", as the Cylon programming within the sleeper agent known as "Boomer" on ''Galactica'' conflicts multiple times with its human personality ([[Water]]). Also, the fully aware Sharon Valerii found by [[Karl Agathon|Helo]] on Caprica switches alliances from Cylon to Colonial after falling in love with Helo and aids the Colonials [[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II|for a time]] (several episodes, most notably "[[Flight of the Phoenix]]"). Number Eight is the third Cylon agent introduced during the [[Miniseries]]. However, viewers do not discover her true identity until the very end of the Miniseries when a second copy of Sharon Valerii appears at [[Ragnar Anchorage]] while retrieving an abandoned copy of Number Five.

[[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)|Copies]] of this model have appeared under the name "[[Sharon Valerii (Galactica copy)|Sharon Valerii]]."
<div style="clear: both;"></div>

=== [[Leoben Conoy]] ===

[[Image:CyLeo.jpg|thumb|left|Leoben Conoy]]
Leoben Conoy (Cylon agent model number unknown) was the fourth model witnessed by viewers (although viewers would not know until the end of the [[Miniseries]] that they had already seen the third introduced Cylon agent, Sharon Valerii). The Conoy model has shown to be religiously oriented, using dogma and intermixing truth with falsehoods. It was first discovered on [[Ragnar Station]], claiming to be a scavenger / arms dealer ([[Miniseries]]).

He can be likened to the serpent of the [[Wikipedia:Genesis|Genesis]] tale in the Earth [[Wikipedia: Christian Bible|Christian Bible]], taunting people with knowledge then watching as the negative consequences come into devastating fruition. Leoben copies have likely been encountered by the [[Caprica Resistance]], as [[Samuel Anders]] recites in jest some comments made by another Leoben copy captured in [[The Fleet (RDM)|the Fleet]] ([[Flesh and Bone]], [[The Farm]]).
<div style="clear: both;"></div>

=== [[Simon]] ===

[[Image:Simon Farm2.JPG|thumb|Simon]]
The Simon model (Cylon agent model number unknown) was encountered by [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]] on Cylon-occupied [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Caprica|Caprica]]. Posing as a doctor, Simon was actually involved with the Cylon hybridization program. Simon resembles a tall, somewhat thin middle-aged black man who speaks in a comforting strong voice ([[The Farm]]) Unlike other models, Simon doesn't seem to have many military aspects to his physical or mental configuration, and was easily overcome by a wounded Thrace. Simon may be a model based primarily on human intellectualism.
=== [[Cavil]] ===

[[Image:Cyca2.jpg|thumb|left|Cavil]]
Brother Cavil (Cylon agent model number unknown) gives counsel to [[Chief Tyrol]] after his maddened attack against [[Cally]]. Despite his disdain in prayer and religous pomp and circumstance ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I]]), Cavil conducts a prayer session with [[Laura Roslin]], the latter apparently hoping that prayer would aid her success in the elections. Another copy of Cavil appears on [[Caprica]], informing a [[Caprica Resistance]] [[SAR]] team that the Cylons had left the Colonies some 18 hours after Cylon units cease an attack on their unit. When the Caprica SAR team returns to ''Galactica'', Tyrol recognizes and identifies Cavil as a Cylon agent. For a priest, and especially for a Cylon, Cavil displays an utter disdain for both the beliefs of the Colonial's [[Lords of Kobol]] and the Cylon [[God]].

[[Cavil#Caprica-Cavil|Caprica-Cavil]] alleges that he is sent to ''Galactica'' as a messenger of peace. He relays what occurred after [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Sharon Valerii (Galactica copy)]] are rescued from the wreckage of the cafe bombing ([[Downloaded]]). The two "Heroes of the Cylon" use their new found celebrity to voice what many in the Cylon population felt themselves... The Cylon annihilation of the human race and occupation of the Twelve Colonies was wrong. Caprica-Cavil tells [[William Adama|Admiral Adama]] and [[Laura Roslin|President Roslin]] that the Cylons will go their own way, and leave the Fleet alone.

But Cavil's proclamation [[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II|proves false a year later]]. Whether or not the Cavils intentionally lie or if the Cylons change their mind unknown.

Interestingly, the Fleet copy of Cavil claims, in conversation with [[Tyrol]], that he had been preaching longer than [[Tyrol]] had been "sucking down oxygen" ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I]]). If Cavil is being truthful and, assuming [[Tyrol]] is roughly thirty years old, Cavil has been operational for at least thirty years. This information conflicts with aired information that suggests that Cylon agent infiltration of the Colonies began approximately two years prior to the Miniseries. Based on this information, it is likely that Cavil's comment is part of his "cover" as an older Colonial citizen.
== Hera/Isis ==

In deleted scenes from the episode [[Downloaded]], it is shown that [[Gaius Baltar]] attempts to steal the baby from Galactica in collusion with [[Gina]] and [[D'anna Biers]]. When Biers refers to the baby as Hera, Gina tells her not to call the baby by the name of a Human god, and to call her "Number Thirteen".
==Ron Moore elaborates on the twelve models==

In a 10/24/05 interview on "The Chase Show" on the SF webcast news site [http://www.thefandom.com/Article50.phtml TheFandom.com] with veteran "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" actress [[IMDB:nm0557732|Chase Masterson]], Ron D. Moore is interviewed and directly answers two key questions in the Twelve Models debate and the origin of Sharon Valerii in particular. Here is a transcription of that interview segment.

:'''Chase''': ... I just have to ask something... is there one Boomer that's just human?
:'''Ron''': No, there's not. I mean, the idea is not there was one like an original human model that they were copied from. The idea was that these were... these models of Cylon were developed out of their own study of us. The Cylons on some level looked at humanity and said, "Well, you know what, there's really only twelve of you... and these are the twelve." And then if you look at them, they kind of represent different archetypes of what humanity is. Um, Sharon, in particular &mdash; Sharon-Boomer, went through quite a trans-metamorphosis because in the original [[Miniseries]] script, in the first draft, she wasn't a Cylon at all. She was going to be just &mdash; I wrote her just &mdash; I wanted a youngish pilot, who was the rookie, who was sort of vulnerable in ways, who made mistakes in ways that you're not used to seeing your heroes on TV shows do, and I was really interested in this idea of the officer, the female officer in love with the male deck chief in violation of all the rules and I kinda thought, going forward, that she and the [[Galen Tyrol|chief]], in combination with [[Boxey (RDM)|Boxey]], who's really only in the [[Miniseries]] and one or two other episodes, would form sort of our family unit, that that was kind of a family...
:'''Chase''': OK...
:'''Ron''': ... and actually, after that first draft was written, it was [[David Eick]], my producing partner, who said, "You know what, if at the end of this thing, at the very end when all the Cylons walk into Armistice &mdash; into the [[Ragnar Anchorage|Ragnar station]] at the end... if you turn around and Sharon is one of the Cylons, he said, we're definitely gonna get picked up for a series.
:'''Chase''': (laughs) OK... that did make... that really did seal the deal...
:'''Ron''': ... and I just really went... that's a great idea and I realized that, because I'd had laid... I had written a story straight, I really hadn't cheated. There was no hint of who Sharon might be, and it really did suck you in, and really sort of, you believed her as a person first, and then we revealed her as a Cylon.
:'''Chase''': ... Right....
:'''Ron''': ... And so what happened after that was, I assumed going into the first season &mdash; well I didn't assume, I just planned... to slowly, over the course of the first year, peel back the layers &mdash; that Sharon would only start to sort of discover her Cylon nature by the end of the first year.
:'''Chase''': Oh, God... and it was heartbreaking, watching that unfold, because I loved her much as human, and she was just adorable, with him and then with the kid, it was like, oh, what a great girl, she's um... you know, young and cute, and &mdash; who's the actress &mdash; and that whole thing, and then you're like, WHAT?
:'''Ron''': Yeah...
:'''Chase''': ... She's the enemy...
:'''Ron''': I know then, she's the enemy, then she's the one that is your most worry, what's she gonna do next.
:'''Chase''': Yeah. You really took us on quite a journey there. I was still hoping for a human one running around somewhere, but no, huh?....
:'''Ron''': No.
:'''Chase''': Oh, well...

With this information from the show's main creative leader, it is established as canon that:

* There are precisely twelve ''human'' Cylon models. The other varieties of Cylon spacecraft or fighters are not factored into this count of 12 models.
* '''None''' of the Cylon agents were ''ever'' an actual human.
* The twelve models are based on on archetypes determined by the Cylons that form what they perceive were the specific kinds of human behavior and/or personality, distilled into twelve varieties.
