'''Jack Fisk''', is the [[executive officer]] of the [[Mercury class battlestar|battlestar]] ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'' when he and Admiral [[Helena Cain]] discover ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]''.

Fisk is a typical orders-only XO who generally keeps to the status quo established by his commanding officer. Like his counterpart on ''Galactica'', [[Saul Tigh]], Fisk is fond of drinking, although he appears far less likely to drink on duty than Tigh has in the past. He has a jovial personality, often cracking jokes to ease tension.

Serving in an unspecified role in ''Pegasus's'' [[CIC#Pegasus|CIC]], Fisk rises to the position of XO, shortly after the [[Cylon attack]] on the Twelve Colonies. When Colonel [[Jurgen Belzen|Belzen]] refuses Cain's reckless order to launch all Vipers against overwhelming odds during an [[Battle of the Communications Relay|attack on a Cylon communication relay]], Cain shoots him in front of the crew. She then turns to Fisk and repeats the order, who complies with little hesitation.

Later, Fisk and [[Kendra Shaw]] lead a Marine strike team onto the civilian ship ''[[Scylla]]'', to carry out Cain's order to strip the vessel of suitable resources and personnel. When the civilians refuse to cooperate and become unruly, Cain tells him to shoot the family of any selectee that refuses to comply. As Fisk threaten the civilian's families with execution, Shaw impulsively raises her gun and shoots a woman in the head, which leads to deaths of nine others. This effectively ends any resistance from the passengers and crew of the ''Scylla'', leading them to cooperate with the demands of the boarding party ([[Razor]]). He later relates this incident to Colonel Tigh in confidence over drinks ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]).

After Commander [[William Adama]] and Admiral Cain come to a near-shootout between their respective battlestars over Cain's quick conviction of [[Karl Agathon]] and [[Galen Tyrol]], Admiral Cain orders Fisk to take a contingent of ''Pegasus'' Marines to guard ''Galactica's'' [[CIC#Galactica|CIC]] in the event of enemy boarding during the [[Battle of the Resurrection Ship]]. She gives Fisk orders to have the Marines assasinate Adama and the rest of the [[Senior Staff of Galactica#CIC|CIC senior staff]] after the battle is over, once she calls him on the wireless and says, "Execute [[Case Orange#note|case orange]]" ([[Resurrection Ship, Part I]]). However, after the battle is won, she relents and does not give the order. Jack is relieved, and lets out a roaring belly laugh, much to the confusion of everyone in the CIC ([[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]).

He dresses down the men, warning them that striking an officer on ''Pegasus'' has severe penalties, and sends them on their way. When thanked by Helo and Tyrol, Fisk summarily dismisses their thanks, adding that he owed Lieutenant [[Alastair Thorne]] his life, as did others on ''Pegasus''; he broke up the beating more for the sake of the uniform than anything else. When Helo explains that Thorne was attempting to rape [[Sharon Agathon|Sharon Valerii]], Fisk says, "You can't rape a machine, Lieutenant."

'''Jurgen Belzen''' was Admiral [[Helena Cain]]'s long-time executive officer on ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'' and close friends with her.

When the battlestar puts in for a lengthy overhaul at the [[Scorpion Fleet Shipyards]], he plans to go paragliding on [[Scorpia]]. After the [[Cylon attack]] on the Twelve Colonies ''Pegasus'' conducts an [[Battle of the Communications Relay|attack]] on what is believed to be a small Cylon communications relay, but turns out to be a large staging area. When the Cylons jump in 15 squadrons of Raiders to close an apparent trap, Cain orders to launch all Viper squadrons. Not wanting to waste their outnumbered Vipers, Belzen urges Cain to reconsider and order a retreat. Cain views his persistence and official refusal to carry out her order as insubordination, asks for his sidearm and shoots him in the head in front of the entire [[CIC]] crew. ''Pegasus'' eventually wins the battle, but with staggering losses.

These events are later told to Colonel [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]] by Colonel [[Jack Fisk|Fisk]]. Although Fisk later says that he has been lying, Tigh remains convinced that he has been telling the truth ("[[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]", "[[Razor]]").

== Notes ==
* Although doubt exists to the veracity of Fisk's claims in the episode "Pegasus", Ronald D. Moore said in a [http://blog.scifi.com/battlestar/archives/2006/09/#a001323 blog entry] that all of it is in fact true. The events are later depicted, and thus confirmed, in "Razor".
* His first name should be written "Jürgen" or "Juergen", but it is not unusual to drop diacritical marks in English as the the name is pronounced with a "u" in it.
