The '''Monotheist Church''', sometimes referred to as the '''Monad Church''', was a religious organization based on [[Gemenon]] in the years before the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|Fall]]. Lead by the cleric known as [[Mother]], the Monotheist Chruch's goal was to spread the gospel of a single, all knowing, all powerful [[God (RDM)|God]] to the generally [[Lords of Kobol|polytheist]] [[Twelve Colonies of Kobol|Twelve Worlds]].

==History==

Formed in the decades leading up to the [[First Cylon War]], the Monotheist Church was housed in the rocky, seaside cliffs of Gemenese in a temple referred to as "the retreat". The location was considered by the monotheists to be the Holy Land. Inside the retreat was an elaborate cathedral distinguished by buttresses, stained glass windows and reflecting pools where the clerics met for worship as well as politicking. The halls of the Monotheist Church echoed with the sound of chanting and prayer, reflecting a bygone age of mysticism in the Twelve Colonies ([[CAP]]: "[[Unvanquished]]", "[[Blowback]]").

In the early years of its formation, the Monad Church came into conflict with its polytheistic neighbors with polytheist rebels in the east and the "Hephaistons" in the west. Despite these tensions, the Monad Chruch's relationship with the polytheist ones softened over time, though they still considered nonbelievers "unenlightened" ([[CAP]]: "[[Unvanquished]]").

The Soldiers of the One, or STO, was the militant arm of the Monotheist Church, formed in the movement's early years to defend the church, driving out the many [[Lords of Kobol (RDM)|Gods]] and combating the corruption and decadence of Colonial society. Considered by the [[GDD|Caprican Government]] to be a terrorist organization, the STO was at least in part seen by Obal Ferras, with training camps set up on Gemenon ([[CAP]]: "[[Unvanquished]]").

Meeting resistance to the monotheist movement, the Monotheist Church at first heavily utilized its arm branch, crediting it with its success in leaner years. Despite the fact that they were treated as saviors, the Monotheist Church ultimately took up a more distant relationship with its STO cells, going so far as to refuse to house its leaders within the church proper ([[CAP]]: "[[Unvanquished]]").

58 years before the Fall of the Twelve Worlds, the conclave came into direct conflict with the STO. Objecting to the church's newly found "coziness" with the polytheist organizations in the Colonies, [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprican]] cell leader [[Clarice Willow]] sought a new direction for the church. Meeting with the conclave on Gemenon, Clarice unveiled her notion of "[[Apotheosis]]" — the realization of life everlasting in a [[Virtual World|virtual]] heaven. Despite a convincing argument, however, Obal Ferras found Willow's notion blasphemous, relating his position to Mother and securing permission to have Clarice disposed of ([[CAP]]: "[[Unvanquished]]").

Willow's Apotheosis had nevertheless won over many other members of the conclave and the STO who conspired to murder Ferras instead. With the conclave stabbing Ferras to death before her eyes, Mother acquiesced, giving Willow the resources she needed to complete her "science project" and granting her full control over the STO cells on Caprica. Willow quickly returned to Caprica where she set out eliminating her competition ([[CAP]]: "[[Unvanquished]]", "[[Retribution]]").

====Ascension of Lacy Rand====

Monotheist Lacy Rand initially infiltrates the STO on Caprica in order to gain their trust sufficiently to smuggle [[Zoe-R]]'s [[U-87]] Centurion body to Gemenon ([[CAP]]: "[[Reins of a Waterfall]]", ""[[Gravedancing]]"). She becomes a pawn in the battle of supremacy between her mentor Sister [[Clarice Willow]] and the Caprican STO commander [[Barnabas Greeley]] who can facilitate the transport, and unwittingly plants Barnabas' bomb to kill Clarice ([[CAP]]: "[[Know Thy Enemy]]", "[[End of Line]]"). Lacy's efforts are for naught, as Zoe-R is captured and severely damaged ([[CAP]]: "[[End of Line]]"). Her fate sealed, Lacy actively trains under Barnabas, and attempts to bomb the [[Caprica Interplanetary Spaceport]] ([[CAP]]: "[[Unvanquished]]", "[[Retribution]]"). Clarice had survived; she hunts down Barnabas and Lacy, kills the former, and takes the latter prisoner ([[CAP]]: "[[Retribution]]"). Lacy manages to regain some of Clarice's trust and Clarice gives Lacy an opportunity for redemption, sending her off to the STO training camp on Gemenon ([[CAP]]: "[[Things We Lock Away]]").

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Lacy, the STO begins purchasing U-87s - the very thing Lacy had tried to smuggle - from the Ha'la'tha planted in [[Graystone Industries]]. The black market U-87s are sent to Gemenon ([[CAP]]: "[[Blowback]]").

When polytheists hijack the STO shuttle, Lacy takes the lead in successfully fighting the hijackers and personally injures one of them ([[CAP]]: "[[Blowback]]"). The incident is immediately revealed to have been an evaluation and training exercise. That evening, Lacy and her comrade [[Odin Sinclair]] witnesses the execution of those recruits who had renounced their faith during the evaluation; the executioner is a U-87 ([[CAP]]: "[[Blowback]]").

Soon thereafter, Lacy realises that the STO trainers and leadership are murderous thugs who routinely order U-87s to summarilly execute subordinates for petty infractions and mere disagreements ([[CAP]]: "[[The Heavens Will Rise]]"). When she instinctively calls out for one such execution to stop, the U-87 immediately removes its muzzle from its would-be victim's head and responds, "By your command." The Cylons' programming to follow all orders from (and ''only'' from) authorised leaders is discovered to be subordinate to their recognition of, and obedience to, Lacy Rand ([[CAP]]: "[[The Heavens Will Rise]]"). Lacy sneeks into the temple where the U-87s are stored to investigate further. Recognising the one that had obeyed her, because of its red chest markings, she asks it if it is Zoe, a question the robot does not understand; so she orders, "If you are Zoe, raise your arm." One by one, every Cylon in the temple raises its arm ([[CAP]]: "[[The Heavens Will Rise]]").

While the STO and Monad church know only of Lacy's inexplicable ability to control the one U-87 and of her opposition to the killing of innocents, that is enough to make her unacceptably dangerous. [[Mother|Blessed Mother]] orders Lacy be killed with the appearance of a training accident ([[CAP]]: "[[Here Be Dragons]]"). Odin recognises that such orders are necessarilly imminent, and convinces Lacy and their fellow trainees of the same. Thus prepared, the trainees double-cross and ambush Lacy's would-be assassins ([[CAP]]: "[[Here Be Dragons]]"). Lacy dismisses her comrades' proposition to escape from the base; instead, she leads them to the Cylon storage temple where she orders the Cylons to power up and directs them to follow her with the ominous, "We have work to do." ([[CAP]]: "[[Here Be Dragons]]").

With her tiny cadre of trainees supported by Centurions, Lacy stages a coup d'état, installing herself as Blessed Mother, with Odin serving as her lieutenant, and the red-breasted U-87 as her acolyte and/or praetorian guard ([[CAP]]: "[[Apotheosis (episode)|Apotheosis]]").

The kernel of Zoe-R's identity contained in the Cylons' fundamental programming which Lacy exploites, also makes them predisposed to monotheism. Ironically, the Cylon marines' killing of monotheist human terrorists to protect the thousands of polytheist humans at [[Atlas Arena]] (coincidental to Lacy's coup) ingratiates the Cylons with humanity and is the catalyst for their much more rapid popularity and sales than inventor [[Daniel Graystone]] had anticipated ([[CAP]]: "[[Apotheosis (episode)|Apotheosis]]").

Clarice Willow evades capture for her orchestration of the failed arena bombing ([[CAP]]: "[[Apotheosis (episode)|Apotheosis]]"). She eventually discovers the Cylons' monothistic instincts and establishes a Cylon congregation in V-World where various domestic, industrial, and military Cylon models attend to hear her sermons ([[CAP]]: "[[Apotheosis (episode)|Apotheosis]]"). Clarice preaches that Cylons are every bit as much God's children as humans are ([[CAP]]: "[[Apotheosis (episode)|Apotheosis]]").

Blessed Mother Lacy grants Clarice an audience at her see on Gemenon to discuss Clarice's proposal for divine recognition of the "differently sentient" - the Cylon race. Lacy greets Clarice with a smile, but commands her to kneel ([[CAP]]: "[[Apotheosis (episode)|Apotheosis]]").

The Centurions maintain monotheism through the [[Cylon War|first human-Cylon war]] and beyond. The continue to progogate the belief system into the root programming of the comrades they manufacture to fight humans, as well as with most of the [[Significant Seven|humanoid Cylon models]] they create with the help of the [[Final Five]]. Of the seven mass-produced models, only [[Number One|one]] is athiest. It is not known if the semi-sentient [[Raider (RDM)|Raiders]] and [[Cylon Centurion|second war Centurions]] have even the capacity to process religion. The humanoid Cylons' funerary services utilise ornaments and amulets in the form of the Monad church's infinity symbol ([[TRS]]: "[[Islanded in a Stream of Stars]]").

The 2003 [[Miniseries]] debut of '''''Battlestar Galactica''''' was a "[[Wikipedia:Reboot (continuity)|re-imagining]]," or updated version of the [[Original Series]] made [[Naturalistic science fiction|more suitable]] to the modern sensibilities of the 21st Century. Aiming to tackle issues of civil rights, survival, terrorism, and religion, ''Battlestar Galactica'' is an drama following the survivors of a race of humanity—which number under 50,000. The new ''Battlestar'' was spearheaded by former ''Star Trek: The Next Generation'' and ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' writer/producer [[Ron D. Moore]] and co-produced by [[David Eick]].

A familiar but different [[Galactica type battlestar|battlestar]] ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' finds herself leading a refugee [[The Fleet (RDM)|fleet]] away from the destroyed [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies of Kobol]] and on a (and [[Home, Part II|initially fictitious]]) quest for [[Earth (RDM)|Earth]], with turmoil from within and danger from without.

''Battlestar Galactica'' began as a four-hour miniseries pilot on the [[Sci Fi Channel]] in late 2003. As with the Original Series, the show begins with the destruction of the [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies]], but in a style more familiar and disturbing to today's viewers, making its events eerily reminiscent of feelings felt by many viewers to the sporadic and inconsistent news and chaos shown during the [[w:September 11, 2001|September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks]] in the United States.

While the design of the battlestar ''Galactica'' was probably the most familiar element derived from the Original Series, many elements of the new show were altered. The commander, [[William Adama]], is a battle-hardened, secularly-minded commander on the eve of retirement for himself and his [[Cylon War|combat-decorated]] old battlestar. The names of Original Series characters are now the pilot call signs for his son, [[Lee Adama|Lee "Apollo" Adama]] and the crack pilot, [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]]. Starbuck's change into a female character initially became a torrid issue to Original Series fans who feared this and other changes would render an inferior series.

However, some fans became pleasantly surprised of the quality of the miniseries and the regular series. Unlike its Original Series counterpart, the new series has not only survived to prepare for a [[Season 4|fourth and final season]] in 2008, but has received many awards and nominations, including several Emmy nominations, a Peabody Award, a Saturn Award, and a Hugo Award. Its popularity has even given the show its own spin-off series, [[Caprica (series)| Caprica]]. In addition, the series has been sold to many other countries across the world.

== Series development ==

After the miniseries, the regular series itself was not immediately approved due to financial considerations. Initially, Universal Studios and Sci Fi Channel both deemed that the series was unaffordable, despite [[David Eick]]'s and David Kissinger's attempts to secure funding for the series. Once funding was secured, the official announcement for the series' launch was given on 10 February 2004.<ref name="pg 41"/> Moore, a majority of the production staff, as well as every principal cast member from the miniseries returned to work on the series. Principal shooting on the [[Season 1 (2004-05)|first season]] was from 19 April to 15 September 2004, with each episode taking eight days to shoot. The basic story is still present: robotic [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylons]] conduct a [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|surprise attack on the Colonies]], thus forcing several stranded spaceships to coalesce around the last surviving [[Galactica type battlestar|battlestar]], ''[[Galactica]]'', to seek a mythical [[Thirteenth Tribe (RDM)|Thirteenth Tribe]] where the survivors hope to find shelter from the Cylons.

Many of the fine details changed from the Original Series.

* The Cylons were created by humanity itself and not by a [[Cylons (TOS)|separate alien race]].<ref>This shift in antagonists mirror similar dystopian man/machine stories found in such popular films as the ''[[Wikipedia:The Terminator|Terminator]]'' and ''[[Wikipedia:The Matrix|The Matrix]]'' movie series.</ref>
* ''Galactica'' is a 50 year old relic on the verge of decommission.
* The names of "Apollo", "Boomer", and "Starbuck" are changed to call signs. Most characters have standard first and last names; some first names were not given until later in the series, such as [[Felix Gaeta|Felix Gaeta's]] or [[Anastasia Dualla|Anastasia Dualla's]].
* The futuristic (and often confusing) terminology used to denote units of measurement, such as distance and time, in the Original Series has been replaced with understandable terminology, such as "year" and not "[[yahren]]".

* Instead of the other-worldly, Egyptian-esque clothing and city designs (i.e. pyramids) seen in the Original Series, objects are more contemporary in design and function. Indeed, many aspects of contemporary society are very common throughout the new series.
* The [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies (RDM)|religion]] for the Colonials revises the Lords of Kobol to be analogous in name to many of [[w:Greek mythology|the gods in real-world Greek mythology]], making the Colonial religion of the Re-imagined Series truly polytheistic (the Original Series' religion was more monotheistic as [[God (RDM)|God]] is referenced in tandem with the Lords of Kobol, who were more akin to [[w:saint|saints]].)

Characters are altered significantly from the Original Series.

* [[Baltar (TOS)|Baltar]], who was willingly complicit in the destruction of the Colonies due to his thirst for power, became [[Gaius Baltar]], an arrogant scientific genius that is tricked into working with the Cylons.

The show has taken a more realistic turn, scientifically.{{fact}} [[Science in the Re-imagined Series|Realistic science]], which was absent in the Original Series, is applied in this series as best as cinematic and storyline requirements permit.

Certain models of Cylons [[Humanoid Cylon|appear human, right down to the blood]], which generates some very disturbing problems in distinguishing friend from foe. This mirrors terrorist methods of infiltration and delivering destructive results to heavy population centers (akin to suicide bombers).

: I approached the original show and looked at what worked and what didn't work. I tried to keep as much of the original show as possible. I kept all the essential elements of ''Battlestar Galactica'': the aircraft-carrier-in-space; the rag-tag fleet; the Cylon attack, the escape and the search for Earth; Commander Adama; Adama's son "Apollo", who's the ''Galactica'''s lead fighter pilot; the rogue pilot, "Starbuck"; their friend, "Boomer"; and Baltar, the traitor. [[Kara Thrace]] travels to the rebel basestar to hear their Hybrid, whom [[Leoben]] believes will guide her on her quest for earth. She finds little sense in its ramblings:

Just as the Hybrid is being disconnected from its basestar she delivers one final, and unusually coherent, message to Thrace:

When President [[Laura Roslin|Roslin]] is informed of this message she goes to speak with the Hybrid ([[Guess What's Coming to Dinner?]]). She has little success talking to the Hybrid and does not get the answers she was expecting:

The [[first Hybrid]] also says several prophetic phrases, although this Hybrid's behavior displays far more coherence, grammatically. The First Hybrid also shows self-awareness, speaking in complete sentences when addressing [[Kendra Shaw]] ([[Razor]]).

The denial of the one true path, played out on a [[New Caprica|world not their own]], will end soon enough. ==Samuel Anders==
After a bullet penetrates his brain during [[Gaeta's Mutiny]] and the subsequent operation to remove the bullet from his brain, [[Samuel Anders]] is rendered comatose. Due to his Cylon nature, his brain functions allow him to become a form of Hybrid; he is first to mention [[The Colony]] and unlock the knowledge of the [[Final Five]]'s true nature, prior to the operation that renders him comatose and ultimately dependent on Cylon technologies. After his operation, members of the [[Significant Seven]] construct a Hybrid tank on ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' in the hopes of essentially restoring his mental abilities, ultimately becoming ''Galactica'''s Hybrid:

* ''The neuroanatomy of fear and faith share common afferent pathways. Flip a coin. Increased vascular pressure marks the threat response. Free will scuttles in the swamp of fear, do not fear the word. You are the harbinger of death Kara Thrace, you will lead them all to their end. End of line. New command. Resume function. * ''A closed system lacks the ability to renew itself. Knowledge alone is a poor primer...''
* ''End of line. Begin reintegration of right hemisphere subcommand routines ...patterns... the universe...sea... begin reintegration of command subroutines. There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza, there's a hole in the bucket. A/the long view returns patterns and repetitions... all has happened before and all will happen again...''

During the [[Battle of the Colony]], Anders is seen responding to commands by [[Galen Tyrol]]:
* ''There are secrets within lies, answers within riddles. Lay off the ACS, you betcha Galen. Open your mind and hear what your heart wants to deny. End of line.''

After the Fleet's discovery of [[Earth (RDM)|the second Earth]], Anders navigates [[The Fleet (RDM)|the Fleet]] into the planet's sun. When Anders' wife [[Kara Thrace]] says goodbye, he simply responds, "[[Maelstrom|See you on the other side]]."

==The Colony Hybrid==
Once [[Samuel Anders]] begins to communicate with The Colony's (Chief?) Hybrid, she utters one line before deactivating the defenses:

* ''Look through the eye to know thyself.''

This could be interpretted as she was herself looking within and shutting down the defenses, after realizing the truth of one of the Final Five's return.

==Rebel Hybrid's Message deciphered==
Some of what the rebel hybrid has said has come to pass and has been revealed.

What it said about the Dying Leader and the Opera House referes to Roslin and her visions but that has not been resolved yet. The truth behind what it said about Kara being the Harbinger of Death may refer to her part in the destruction of the Resurrection Hub but this too is unclear. However, the part about the Three leading them to the Five that come from the home of the Thirteenth is now clear and makes sense: D'Anna Biers saw the faces of the Final Five in the Temple of Five. She is ultimately unboxed and is able to lead them to four of the five with the identity of the fifth being discovered at Earth.

It is learned that the Final Five in fact ''come'' from Earth as they were born there and the Thirteenth Tribe are Cylons who were apparently created on Kobol. They came to the Colonies to help us after they had their own nuclear holocaust and had their real memories blocked by Cavil and were placed among humans with no knowledge of their true identities.

Many of the Rebel Hybrid's messages may also reference the ''Book of Jeremiah'' from the Old Testament. The ''Book of Jeremiah'' deals with themes of Judaism vs Paganism, Prophets and prophecy, destruction of home, and a main character overwhelmed by his task - concurrent with many of the themes in the show. Roslin later ''did'' come to know the truth of the [[Opera House Prophecy]]: it was a vision that came true in the final episode with Athena, Roslin, Baltar and Caprica Six protecting Hera during the [[Battle of The Colony]], but their actions exactly mirrored that of the vision except they were on ''Galactica'' and not in the Opera House although they did flash to that vision several times.

The room with the Final Five in it turned out to be ''Galactica's'' CIC and the Final Five were in similar positions on the balcony to the ones they were in in the vision.

* Frustrations over the lack of a plan and problems during exercises lead to a conflict with his son whom he attacks over his weight gain and perceived softness. While Lee is pragmatic and doesn't believe that they can rescue the people on New Caprica in their state, his father drives everyone to their limit, thinking it is his misjudgments that brought them into the situation.
*He only forgives himself for leaving almost everyone behind after a conversation with Agathon, where she explains that, after being through so much herself, she discovered that she first had to forgive herself in order to get through it. Despite their differences of opinion, the two have a heartfelt goodbye.

Beaten, he declares that he let everyone too close to him, which ultimately led to the fracturing of their family on New Caprica, and vows to not make that mistake again.
*After the discovery of the [[Temple of Five]] on the [[algae planet]], four Cylon [[Basestar (RDM)|basestars]] jump into orbit. A meeting with the Cylons occurs on ''Galactica'', but Adama threatens to nuke the planet should the Cylons make a claim to it. The two also come to blows over their dealing with Thrace's loss ([[TRS]]: "[[The Son Also Rises]]"). This results in a break between the father and son, with Lee resigning his commission and Adama questioning his son's integrity after Lee contributed to humiliating his friend [[Saul Tigh]] in court, not able to understand how he could do such things in order to defend a traitor, whom he believes is undeserving of a trial ([[TRS]]: "[[Crossroads, Part I]]").

* After Dualla commits suicide, Adama breaks down in tears over her body and believes he's failed everyone. He starts drinking excessively and eventually makes his way to Saul Tigh's quarters.
* Tigh tries to apologize for not telling him the truth, but Adama ignores him and instead starts drinking more and insulting Tigh. He questions whether Tigh was "programmed" to be his friend all these years. Adama then comments that Ellen must have realized the truth about her husband long before he did, which is why she slept around with half the Colonial Fleet. Tigh tells him to shut up, but Adama keeps goading him. Tigh finally can't take it anymore and points his pistol at Adama. Adama draws his own weapon which he points to his own head. He tells Tigh to kill him or he'll do it himself.
* Tigh suddenly realizes that Adama wants to die, but he doesn't have the guts to pull the trigger himself. Tigh calms down and sternly tells Adama that he still has a duty to this ship and that his death won't make things any better. Adama slowly comes to terms with everything that has happened.
* Later, Adama walks onto CIC and addresses a thoroughly demoralized crew. He acknowledges that they can't stay on Earth, but he promises they will find a new home. Adama then orders the CIC personnel to begin jump preparation and to plot a course for an area of space likely to contain a habitable planet. He reinstates Tigh to his rank and posting, despite the latter's Cylon nature.

=== Mutiny ===
* Adama approves an alliance between rebel Cylon faction without the consent of the Quorum of Twelve. These Cylons are given them full colonial citizenship an Quorum seat in exchange for Cylon technology and accepting the colonial command structure.
* Adama integrates the Cylon heavy raiders (piloted by humanoid Cylons who thus can communicate directly with the humans) into ''Galactica''’s combat air patrols (CAPs), their Six and Eight pilots assigned to Colonial squadrons.
* Adama orders the fleet to allow Cylons to install their more efficient technology aboard the various ships of the Fleet ([[TRS]]: "[[A Disquiet Follows My Soul]]").
* This unpopular decision ferments a [[Gaeta's Mutiny|mutiny attempt]] led militarily by [[Felix Gaeta]] and politically by [[Tom Zarek]].
* Adama is ''de facto'' removed from command, but before he is taken out of the CIC, Adama speaks of a reckoning of traitors.
* The admiral is able to escape the rebels temporary, and helps Laura Roslin and Baltar escape to the Cylon Basestar, but is recaptured in doing so ([[TRS]]: "[[The Oath]]", "[[Blood on the Scales]]").
* Against the advise of Tom Zarek, Gaeta attempts to have an informal trial of Adama charging him with treason.
* Adama is sentenced to death by Gaeta, but again evades death after a group of loyalists save him. His own executioners join him in his quest to retake the ship and he storms CIC with the group that rescued him, the marines who were supposed to execute him and many crew members who join up with him on the way.
* Gaeta attempts to jump away with the fleet, but is stopped by a large group of loyalists storming the CIC and reinstating Adama in command. Gaeta surrenders without a fight and Adama has him and Zarek executed by a firing squad that he personally commands ([[TRS]]: "[[Blood on the Scales]]").

=== Post-Mutiny and the second Earth ===
* With crew sizes stretched very thin, Adama is relying even more on the rebel Cylons, and further integrating the Fleet.
* ''Galactica'' begins to show small fractures through the ship. Tyrol recommends to Adama to use Cylon technology to fix these fractures. Adama initially disagrees, but eventually orders this to be done ([[TRS]]: "[[No Exit]]", "[[Deadlock]]").
*The increased presence of Cylons aboard ''Galactica'' leads to Adama and Roslin viewing them even more as the same as humans, when they realise that Cylons have taken to placing photographs of their own lost companions in the remembrance hall.
* Further damage to the ship caused by Boomer's FTL jump leads Adama to order ''Galactica'''s abandonment ([[TRS]]: "[[Someone to Watch Over Me]]", "[[Islanded in a Stream of Stars]]").
* Adama changes his mind, after discovering [[The Colony|the location]] of [[Hera Agathon]]. He plans to send the ship off in a blaze of glory in a volunteers-only apparent [[Battle of the Colony|suicide mission]] to rescue the child ([[TRS]]: "[[Daybreak, Part II]]").
* Adama rejects two volunteers: Doctor (Major) [[Sherman Cottle]] is needed by the civilian populace. Adama brevets Lt. [[Louis Hoshi]] to rear admiral and appoints him to command of the rest of the Fleet from the Cylon Basestar under appointed Acting President Romo Lampkin.
* Adama and the volunteers successfully save Hera and destroy the Colony. With the Colony detonating around them, Adama orders [[Kara Thrace]] to [[blind jump]] the ship away, without giving time to draw in the ship's Flight Pods. The ship ends up at a habitable planet, with it's structual integrity totally compromised and it's ability to Jump gone forever.
* Finding the planet habitable and sparcely populated by inexplicedly genetically compatable humans, Adama suggests it be named Earth to take the place of the planet they had long sought.
* The Fleet reunites with ''Galactica''. Adama reluctantly agrees to Lee's proto-ludite settlement plans for the new planet, and orders that the ships of the Fleet be flown into the sun by [[Samuel Anders]] (less the Cylon Basestar which the humanoid Cylons give to the Centurions with which to make their own destiny).
* He flies off in a Raptor with Roslin to find a good place to build a cabin, never planning to return and finds the perfect spot... moments after Laura Roslin dies peacefully of her cancer, after which he places his wedding ring on her finger.
*He builds a cabin in a mountain range for himself, and buries Roslin nearby. Afterwards, he lives in solitude in the cabin, often visiting Laura's grave and speaking to her ([[TRS]]: "[[Daybreak, Part II]]").
