'''"The Last Supper"''' is the unofficial name of a promotional picture concocted by the [[SciFi Channel]] to promote the [[Re-imagined Series]]. It is one of the first promotional photos from the [[Season 4 (2008)|fourth season]] to be released to the general public, first making print in ''[[w:Entertainment Weekly|Entertainment Weekly]]'' with brief comments by series producer [[Ron Moore]].

== The "Clues" ==

Attached to the photo were comments from Moore, who provided descriptions of each character's pose and position in the picture, while claiming that each pose is significant and holds insights into upcoming events of Season 4. From left to right:

*President [[Laura Roslin|Roslin]] lights a fire: "She's burning something of importance that has to do with a plot turn midseason."

*[[Natalie]] stands in commanding pose: "She assumes a leadership position for a group of Cylons [that have] a separate agenda from the rest of them."

*[[Saul Tigh]], missing eye turned towards the camera: "You might literally take that composition in terms of Tigh turning a blind eye."

*The [[Final Five|empty space at the table]]: "We have not yet revealed the final [unknown] Cylon." Does that mean the people already at the table ''aren't'' the final Cylon? Moore laughs. "You ferreted that out pretty slyly. I didn't really want to give that away."

*[[Lee Adama]] in civilian clothes: "He does not return to flight status."

*[[Gaius Baltar]] looks up to his [[Virtual Six]], who stands in the center of the picture: "Baltar's Six has proclaimed that she is delivering the gospel of the [Cylons'] [[God|one true God]], so it seems natural to place her at the center of the photo.

*[[Kara Thrace]] and [[Samuel Anders]] in a sensual embrace: "[Note] that the only one embracing Starbuck is Anders."

*[[Galen Tyrol]], knife in hand, glares angrily: "The Chief does not have a pleasant time of it this season." His child with fellow grunt Cally would seem to be the second human-Cylon hybrid, and hints Moore, "one should consider the knife in his hand in that context."

*[[Sharon Agathon|Sharon]] and [[Karl Agathon]] cast a worried glance across the table: "The person they're looking at is definitely reacting."

*Admiral [[William Adama|Adama]] sits on the end of the table, as far as possible from President Roslin: "They're also turned toward each other."

== Dismissal ==

In light of massive fan speculation, [[Aaron Douglas]] (Tyrol) publicly dismissed the importance of the photo via his LiveJournal.

According to Douglas, Ron Moore was not present at the photo shoot, which was part of SciFi Channel's promotional material production phase. The actors were given general directions by the photographer and SciFi Channel staff, but interpreted their characters as they saw fit. This indicates that the photograph was created for marketing purposes, as multiple different versions of the shot were produced. It was likely meant to fuel speculation, and thus there is probably no deep meaning behind its composition. Douglas added that neither he nor any of the cast believe there is any significance to the photo. Adama tells [[Saul Tigh]] to continue looking for the hub, since that's the only place the rebels can head given their objective: to [[Boxing|unbox]] the [[Number Three|Threes]].
* Tigh reports that [[Kara Thrace|Thrace]] (apparently [[CAG]], given her seniority) is having problems assembling a sufficient [[CAP]] to protect the Fleet; there are only 30 [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]]s left. As a result, Adama agrees with Thrace's recommendation (told via Tigh) of having the ships tighten their formation for easier defense, despite the inherent hazards posed by inexperienced civilian pilots.

* In the brig, Tigh questions Six about the Hub. After telling him what she knows about the Hub, Tigh believes that she's lying; she assures him that she'd never lie to him. Tigh slips, telling her that the rebels took off with half an air wing and Roslin. Six ferrets out the fact that Admiral Adama's primary concern is for Roslin. Six, who then appears to Tigh in the form of [[Ellen Tigh|his dead wife]], asks if Tigh loves her. Before he can answer, [[Condition One]] is called. * Adama faces down the gun-wielding Lampkin, who explains that Adama's the perfect candidate for president and thus should die. However, Lampkin says that hope is the last thing they need; he says that humanity is a doomed race and should accept its fate. Lampkin kicks over the duffel bag, which has Lampkin's rationale for his actions. Adama opens it, discovering [[Lance]], who had been dead for weeks. Lampkin explains that "those debased dregs of humanity" killed Lance, and are looking for a place to "roost and ''rot'' again". Lampkin explains that the cat is immaterial, but it is the last physical connection he had with his [[Faye Lampkin|wife]]. Adama assures Lampkin that everyone that survived had to make difficult choices: there was nothing he could have done for his wife and two daughters (Jennifer and Kate), noting that only a handful of people elected to stay behind on [[Gemenon (RDM)|Gemenon]] who were on Lampkin's shuttle during the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|attack]].
* Adama talks down Lampkin in a speech about having to make choices about their own survival at the cost of other people's lives, urging him to put the past behind him and move on. Adama believes that he can make a difference in the Fleet; Lampkin asks him if that's his final word, then asks him to swear by it.

[[Romo Lampkin]] arrives, comically commenting that Adama already has a [[Jake (New Caprica)|first pet]]. Lampkin is told of Jake's exploits on [[New Caprica]] and Adama gives the dog to Lampkin—who hates dogs more than cats—as a "new pet to loathe".
* President Adama visits his father, who is packing things in his [[Officer's quarters|quarters]]. Adama doesn't agree with Lee's thinking on retaining [[Tom Zarek]] as vice president; Lee replies that he doesn't agree with his father's thinking on his one-man mission to find [[Laura Roslin]]. Adama recalls a "good memory" of his first mission in enemy space during the [[Cylon War]], then, when pressed, admits that the reason he undertakes his current mission is because he cannot live without Roslin. He has faith that Roslin will get to the rendezvous point.

===General===
*Most civilians appear to have assumed that the basestar's disappearance was a deliberate act of kidnapping, possibly in retaliation for Natalie's shooting. It is as yet unclear if the [[Hybrid|Hybrid's]] jump at the end of the [[Faith|previous episode]] was an automatic response by the Hybrid, perhaps as a safety mechanism that returns an ostensibly critically damaged [[Basestar (RDM)|basestar]] to the resurrection hub, or if this Hybrid was specially programmed to jump immediately upon reactivation, perhaps by the [[Number Two]] who urged [[Natalie]] to stall the Colonials in the previous episode, in order to effect a kidnapping.
* The apparition of a loved one dredged up by a survivor—this time [[Lance]], the only remaining physical connection to [[Romo Lampkin]]'s wife, [[Faye Lampkin|Faye]]—is reminiscent of not only Adama's apparition of [[Carolanne Adama|his ex-wife]] in "[[A Day in the Life]]", but of Saul Tigh's apparition of [[Ellen Tigh]] during the fourth season, in which they cling to some memory of their wives.

* The apparition of loved one dredged up by a survivor—this time [[Lance]], the only remaining physical connection to [[Romo Lampkin]]'s wife, [[Faye Lampkin|Faye]]—is reminiscent of not only Adama's apparition of [[Carolanne Adama|his ex-wife]] in "[[A Day in the Life]]", but of Saul Tigh's apparition of [[Ellen Tigh]] during the fourth season, in which they cling to some memory of their wives.

According to [[Ron Moore]]'s [http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/blogs/ blog entry] on April 18, 2006, Dualla is actually more or less directly inspired by Rigel, saying Dualla is "filling the role of another woman in the original BSG series who used to man the communication system on their bridge. That character was called "Rigel" but I didn't think that name worked in the remake, so I gave her the name of Dualla."
*Dualla was known throughout all of the first season and part of of the second season only as "Dualla" or "Dee". Her first name was finally revealed in the episode "[[Final Cut]]", in an on screen caption during her documentary interview.

Credence for this etymology may be found in [[Kandyse McClure]]'s nationality of birth. It would seem fitting that the on-screen name of one of the few actors of African descent in the re-imagined series would share a connection to a real life African ethnic group.
