'''Jeanne'''<ref>The character is not given an official name until "[[He That Believeth In Me]]", and was credited in the "[[Crossroads]]" two-parter as "Young Woman".</ref> is one of the leaders of the [[Cult of Baltar]]. During [[Gaius Baltar]]'s incarceration and trial proceedings, Jeanne resides on ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]''. Her only son, [[Derrick]], is afflicted with viral encephalitis during Baltar's incarceration that lasts into Baltar's acquittal.

As medicines are proven ineffective against viral encephalitis, she appears before then-incarcerated Baltar posing as (or abusing her position as) a member of the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] [[Fleet News Service|press]]. She presents a picture of Derrick, beseeching Baltar to bless her child, expressing her belief that such an act would miraculously save her child. She is subsequently dragged away by [[Colonial Marine Corps|marines]] ([[Crossroads, Part I]]).

Jeanne appears with two other cultists in the courtroom on ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' where Baltar is being tried. During the trial, Jeanne glares contemptuously at [[Laura Roslin]], which Roslin returns. She and her associates are overjoyed by the tribunal's "not guilty" verdict in the case.

After this verdict, Baltar wanders aimlessly in ''Galactica'''s corridors, he finds himself alone as ''Galactica'' goes into action stations just after the jump to the [[Ionian nebula]]. During the power outage that follows, he is surrounded by Jeanne and her cohorts. She quickly assures the frightened Baltar that she will lead him to his new life, and begin to quickly pace down the corridor ([[Crossroads, Part II]]).

As the [[Battle of the Ionian Nebula|battle]] with the Cylons begins, Jeanne and her cohorts escort Baltar to a previously-abandoned dry stowage compartment, where the cult has made their commune. (Unbeknownst to them, they are trailed by [[Charlie Connor]] and his fellow Baltar-hating friend, [[Shaunt]].) Jeanne, with fellow cultist [[Paulla Schaffer]], inform Baltar that it is impossible to leave ''Galactica'' due to the heavy military presence—Schaffer bluntly points out that, even if it were possible to leave, none of the ships in the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] would have him.

She later brings Derrick to the commune, since she is horrified at the idea of Derrick dying in ''Galactica''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> [[sickbay]]. His conditions worsens and Baltar, initially reluctant at being trapped in a "looney bin", begins to offer [[God (RDM)|God]] a sincere prayer where Baltar offers to exchange his life for a boy who has "not even had a life yet".

Jeanne is emotionally moved by this prayer and her belief in Baltar as their savior is emboldened when Derrick fully recovers from his sickness ([[He That Believeth In Me]]).

She is later assaulted by members of the [[Sons of Ares]] as their members storm the commune in search of Gaius Baltar ([[Escape Velocity]]).

Jeanne is also present in Baltar's compartment listening to the various broadcasts by Baltar ([[The Road Less Traveled]]) and later when the fleet discovers Earth ([[Revelations]]).

Jeanne is later at a gathering when [[Galen Tyrol|former Chief Tyrol]] and [[Brendan Costanza|"Hotdog"]] get into a fight ([[A Disquiet Follows My Soul]]). She is also on the hangar deck, possibly working, and witnesses [[Thomas Zarek|Vice President Zarek]] kill [[Peter Laird|Chief Laird]]. She tells Baltar of this and is present when Roslin speaks to the fleet ([[The Oath]]).

Much later on, she is happy to see Baltar return while Paulla is unhappy about the matter. She is with Baltar when he goes walking through Dogsville and later on when Baltar acquires weapons from the Admiral ([[Deadlock]]).

'''Caprica City''' is the capital city of the [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies of Kobol]], located on the planet [[:en:Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]]. The city itself was divided into a number of smaller districts and neighborhoods that are given placeholder names for easier reference.<ref>{{bsgwiki term}}</ref>

==Overview==
[[image:CapricaCityBeforeCylonAttack.jpg|thumb|left|Downtown Caprica City.]]
Caprica City is an ocean-front urban center, bisected by a river that flows to the sea from lakes located in hills beyond the city center. The largest city on the colony of Caprica, Caprica City was home to the [[Richard Adar|executive]], legislative and judicial branches of the Colonial [[Government]] as well as its own police force, the Caprica City Police ("[[Maelstrom]]", "[[Daybreak, Part I]]"). [[Colonial Fleet (RDM)|Colonial Military]] installations including spaceports ([[Razor]]) and the [[Colonial Defense Mainframe]] ([[Six Degrees of Separation]]) were also located within the city limits.

A large civilian airport/spaceport linked the city with other cities and the rest of the Twelve Colonies, while the hills behind the city provided secluded living space. The city was also surrounded by a number of smaller hamlets, such as [[Oasis]]. Luminaries of colonial life living in Caprica City included famed scientist Doctor [[Gaius Baltar]] ([[Miniseries]]).

Prior to the [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|attack]] on the colonies, Caprica City was home to some 7 million people; Caprica City is completely destroyed by a Cylon nuclear detonation (in the [[Wikipedia:Tsar bomb#The test|50 megaton range]]) during the Fall. After the Fall, the city abandoned by its human inhabitants and occupied by a force of [[Cylon Centurion (RDM)|Cylon centurion]]s and [[Humanoid Cylon|humanoid model]]s who worked to rebuild the city ([[Downloaded]]).

[[Richard Adar]] once served as mayor of Caprica City before later going on to run for Governor of Caprica, then President of the Colonies ([[Daybreak, Part I]] & [[Daybreak, Part II|II]]).

===The Riverwalk===
[[Image:Caprica City.png|thumb|right|Caprica City prior to the First Cylon War.]]

The {{inlineref|Riverwalk}} section of Caprica City is located on a river that bisects the Colonial capital. This neighborhood's main attraction was the Riverwalk Market, an open-air bazaar full of vendor stands selling fresh fruit, construction materials and other goods. Various types of citizens congregated in this zone, from businessmen to shoppers and construction workers.

It is in a smaller area of Riverwalk, the Government Center Plaza that [[Dr. Gaius Baltar|Baltar]] first strolls with [[Number Six|Six]] after meeting her ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]). The market was also the site where [[Number Six|Six]] murders [[Chantara]]'s baby in a form of mercy-killing. Surrounding the market stalls was a snaking complex of glass and steel supported by columns. Various landscaped gardens and reflecting pools occupied the unused land between the market and complex. Behind the market complex, a few of Caprica City's trademark silver office towers could be seen (Miniseries).

===City center===

This is the area reached by Baltar and Six after they passed the Riverwalk. The city center contained the highest density of skyscrapers, occupation parks and hi-tech industries. Since all city traffic was airborne, the city center had no paved roads. Instead, the spaces between the buildings were occupied by a system of walkways, steps, plazas, gardens and water features. This provided the perfect municipal commons area where citizens could jog, take infants out for walks, play with friends, buy a balloon or simply take a pleasant afternoon stroll. In the Miniseries, Baltar and Six walk through one of the central city's landscaped gardens. While Baltar talks about himself, Six is stealing curious glances at various citizens as they pass by.

===Government center plaza===
This complex contained the Colonial legislative, executive and judicial branches of government ([[Epiphanies]]), as well as the [[Ministry of Defense]]'s mainframe ([[Six Degrees of Separation]]). It was located in the Riverwalk section of Caprica City, presumably in the complex over the district's marketplace. Through its gardens and walkways, much human traffic could be seen. President Adar's office was here ([[Epiphanies]]). During the Cylon attack, a reporter for [[Channel 7 News]] is reporting from there on the population's reaction to the nuclear bombardment before he and a background cafe table are blown away by the shockwave of a bomb that detonates over Caprica City (Miniseries).
