Shortly after the destruction of the [[Scorpion Fleet Shipyards]], [[Mercury class battlestar|battlestar]] ''[[Pegasus]]'' attacks a Cylon [[communications relay]] that is believed to be lightly guarded. Intelligence reports conclude that only half a dozen [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Raiders]] are in proximity to the station.

When ''Pegasus'' jumps into the area, twelve enemy contacts are picked up on [[DRADIS]], and Admiral [[Helena Cain|Cain]] orders the launch of [[Blue Squadron (RDM)|Blue Squadron]]. As the Vipers are deployed, 15 Raider squadrons jump into firing range and the crew realizes, to their horror, that the installation is not a communications relay at all, but a staging ground for Cylon forces.

Recognizing that they are outnumbered four to one, Colonels [[Jack Fisk|Fisk]] and [[Jurgen Belzen|Belzen]] recommend the immediate recovery of Blue Squadron, and a swift retreat from the area. However, in a surprise move, Cain orders the remaining Vipers launched to provide cover-fire for Blue Squadron as they make a run at the relay. When Belzen officially refuses to carry out this order, Cain asks him to hand over his sidearm, whereupon she shoots him in the head with it. A shocked Fisk, fearing the same fate should he refuse the admiral's orders, immediately deploys all reserve Vipers.

As the Vipers commence their attack, Cylon operative [[Gina Inviere]] covertly takes the ''Pegasus'' weapons grid off-line, permitting two Cylon [[Heavy Raider]]s to access the port landing alcove with a [[Cylon Centurion|Centurion]] boarding party. In an attempt to hold off the enemy boarding party, Cain orders the surrounding sections of ''Pegasus'' to be vented of atmosphere, hoping that the resulting vacuum will subdue the Cylons. The tactic is unsuccessful, and the Centurions make their way into the ship.

While investigating the sudden collapse of the battlestar's weapons grid, Lieutenant [[Kendra Shaw|Shaw]] spots a [[Number Six]] among the advancing Cylon boarding party, and deduces that Inviere must be an enemy agent. She pulls a rifle from the grasp of a dead marine and fires at the surprised Six. After shooting the Cylon, Shaw returns to [[CIC]], and reveals Inviere's true nature by displaying a security feed of the killed automaton. When Marines try to apprehend Inviere on Cain's orders, she breaks the neck of one and uses his sidearm to shoot another. When Inviere hesitates as she aims at Cain, Shaw knocks the Cylon unconscious with the end of her rifle <ref>In "Pegasus", Lt. [[Alastair Thorne|Thorne]] states that Inviere killed seven people. Since only two kills are shown in "Razor", he either refers to actions before or after her arrest as well.</ref>.

'''Operation Raptor Talon''' was a [[Colonial Fleet (RDM)|military]] operation that took place on the 4,571th day of the [[Cylon War|First Cylon War]]. The [[Galactica type battlestar|battlestars]] ''Galactica'' and ''[[Columbia (RDM)|Columbia]]'' were among the Colonial vessels taking part in the mission.

The objective was to attack an [[ice planet|unnamed "ice planet"]], that was rumored to house a [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] superweapon. According to intelligence on hand, the Cylons had three [[Raider (RDM)|Raider]] wings, ground forces, defensive batteries and nuclear weapons ([[Razor Flashbacks]], Episode 1). Additionally, the Cylons had at least two [[basestar (RDM)|basestar]]s defending the planet from orbit (Razor Flashbacks, Episode 3).

[[Raptor]]s from [[Raptor Squadron 2]] were the first Colonial vessels to be launched in the operation, but were ambushed by Cylon forces soon after. Among the casualties of this skirmish was [[Jaycie McGavin]], who was severely injured when a console exploded on board her Raptor (Razor Flashbacks, Episode 2).

During an orbital engagement with the enemy, ''Columbia'' was destroyed by incoming missile salvos. Presumably, all crew members were killed at this time ([[Razor Flashbacks]], Episode 3).

Shortly after ''Columbia'' was destroyed, [[William Adama]] pursued two Raiders into the atmosphere of the ice planet. He managed to destroy one but suffered a collision with the other, sending him plummeting toward the planet's surface.

On the planet below, Adama discovered a facility where human civilians were imprisoned. After speaking to a survivor on the planet, he discovered that the Cylons were experimenting on humans for reasons then unknown to him. He attempted to free the prisoners, but was forced to leave when the facility began to shake. Exiting this facility, he saw a [[Guardian basestar|new kind of basestar]] leaving the planet. When establishing wireless contact with ''Galactica'', he learned that the Cylons had signed an armistice, thus ushering the end of the first Cylon War (Razor Flashbacks, Episodes 4 through 7).

The '''Battle of The Colony''' is the final engagement between the [[Twelve Colonies of Kobol|humans]] of ''[[Galactica]]'' and the [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylons]] as well as the final battle of the [[Cylon Civil War]].

The Colonials begin a rescue mission, the most dangerous and daring offensive ever undertaken by Admiral [[William Adama]] and a skeleton crew, to rescue [[Hera Agathon]], kidnapped by [[Sharon Valerii|Boomer]] and taken to [[the Colony]] for experimentation ([[Islanded in a Stream of Stars]]).

The battle comprises of people, both rebel Cylon and human, who volunteer to stay aboard ''Galactica''. There are only perhaps several hundred human or humanoid fighters, but fortunately the Cylons also add a few hundred [[Cylon Centurion]]s to the attack and defense forces.

Racetrack and Skulls are sent on a reconnaissance mission in a [[Raptor]]. They find the Colony in orbit of a black hole and also find the only place that a ship can jump in and out safely: within a kilometer of The Colony: point-blank range for The Colony's weapons.

Admiral Adama turns over command of the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] to [[Hoshi]] while [[Romo Lampkin]] is made the new President of the Colonies (as [[Lee Adama]] chooses to stay on ''Galactica'' to fight).

==Battle==

''Galactica'' jumps in directly in front of the Colony, which opens fire with its gun batteries as it's too close for missiles or nukes for both sides. ''Galactica'' takes a pounding until [[Samuel Anders]] (now effectively ''Galactica's'' [[Hybrid]]) manages to hack into the Colony and shut down its Hybrids and their weapon control.

''Galactica'' immediately launches her [[Viper (RDM)|Vipers]] to engage the Colony's Raiders while the battlestar's Raptors jump directly from the starboard [[flight pod]] in a flanking position to board the Colony. The Raptor's jumps rip open the side of the flight pod, but safely arrive at the battle.

As ''Galactica's'' gun batteries fire at the Colony's gun batteries and Raiders, Admiral Adama orders flank speed on ''Galactica'', ramming the battlestar's dense "alligator-head" bow into the Colony. The collision punchs a hole in the Colony's side, ''Galactica's'' bow effectively docked in the enemy ship. From ''Galactica's'' bow enters allows a strike force made out of marines and Rebel Centurions. Raptor strike forces led by [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]], [[Helo]] and [[Sharon Agathon|Athena]] cut their way in elsewhere on the Colony's hull.

The fight is not without serious losses. Racetrack and Skulls arm their nukes aboard their Raptor but are killed when an asteroid hits their ship, punching a hole in the window and smashing their helmets.

Inside the Colony, both strike forces push onwards despite opposition from not only modern Centurions but older [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Model 0005 Centurions]].

[[Kara Thrace]]'s forces discover Boomer, who has retrieved Hera out of sympathy and because she feels she owes Adama a favor. She hands the child over to the rescue team without a fight, warning the team that their Raptors have been destroyed and cannot be used for escape. Fortunately, the battle plan was to abandon the Raptors and return to ''Galactica'' through her bow.

After Sharon Agathon kills Sharon Valerii, Thrace's team meets up with [[Lee Adama]] and his team. All retreat to ''Galactica's'' airlock to escape the Colony.

Cavil, [[Simon]] and a [[Number Five]] go on the offensive, leading a platoon of Centurions in a boarding attack on ''Galactica''. Firefights break out all over the ship, with both sides suffering heavy casualties. [[Gaius Baltar]] and [[Caprica Six]] are among the many that help defend the ship from the boarders.

Karl Agathon is wounded by a Five. Hera runs away in the chaos. Her mother goes after her at her husband's insistence. [[Laura Roslin]], working in [[sickbay]], senses Hera's return and chases after her as well in what becomes a parallel of the [[Opera House Prophecy]], each person in turn part of a vision that protects the child from harm as she wanders through decks filled with gunfire and enemy forces. Caprica Six and Baltar eventually find Hera and take her with them to [[CIC]], recreating their movement as seen in their visions, encountering the [[Final Five]] there, standing on the CIC balcony.

Cavil is captured in CIC. During an explosion, Cavil takes Hera hostage and plans to leave with her as he sees her as the only hope for his kind. Baltar successfully talks Cavil into a truce in exchange for Hera's life. [[Saul Tigh]] sweetens the pot by offering [[Resurrection (RDM)|resurrection]] in exchange for the permanent true between humanity and Cylone. Cavil calls off his forces and the battle seems to end.

==Broken Truce==

However, the truce is short-lived. Shortly after the Final Five begin downloading their knowledge of resurrection to the enemy forces, [[Galen Tyrol]] breaks the download and kills [[Tory Foster]] when he learns that she is responsible for the [[The Ties That Bind|murder of Cally Tyrol]]. Believing themselves betrayed, the Cylons restart their attack, but after the Doral and Simon that joined him in CIC are killed, Cavil swears and kills himself. The Raiders resume attacking ''Galactica''.

In space, another asteroid strikes Racetrack's Raptor and causes her dead hand to accidentally hit the launch button for the remainder of the nuclear missiles from Galactica and Pegasus to fire. All 8 of the missiles hit the Colony, badly damaging it and knocking it out of its orbit towards the black hole nearby--and pulling ''Galactica'' with it.

Admiral Adama orders Thrace to jump the ship--[[blind jump|anywhere]]. Without the coordinates to the Fleet's location, she realizes that [[The Music|the mysterious music played by her father]] forms FTL coordinates. She enters the coordinates and ''Galactica'' escapes as the Colony is sucked into the black hole and destroyed.

==Aftermath==

The toll of battle and her structural frailty are too much for the old battlestar. As she completes the jump, ''Galactica'' suffers a series of critical structural failures, breaking her backbone and permanently losing her FTL ability.

But Thrace's coordinates take ''Galactica'' to a habitable planet, lush and filled with life. They name this planet [[Earth (RDM)|Earth]] and, after retrieving the other Colonials at the rendezvous coordinates, the population of the Fleet is able to settle without concern.

The Rebel Cylons settle down with them and give the [[Rebel Basestar]] to their Centurions to find freedom and their own destiny.

The Hybrid Samuel Anders is instructed to autopilot ''Galactica'' and the last of her charge into the Sun, destroying the ships and allowing humanity and the Rebel Cylons a fresh start, sans technology.

It is not known whether the Cylons on the Colony were able to transmit any data or if any of them were able to escape before it fell into the black hole. The fate of the loyalist Cylons who were not on the Colony is likewise unclear, however, with both reproduction and the recovery of resurrection technology unlikely, their extinction is a foregone conclusion.

The '''Battle of The Colony''' is the final engagement between the [[Twelve Colonies of Kobol|humans]] of ''[[Galactica]]'' and the [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylons]] as well as the final battle of the [[Cylon Civil War]].

The Colonials begin a rescue mission, the most dangerous and daring offensive ever undertaken by Admiral [[William Adama]] and a skeleton crew, to rescue [[Hera Agathon]], kidnapped by [[Sharon Valerii|Boomer]] and taken to [[the Colony]] for experimentation ([[Islanded in a Stream of Stars]]).

The battle comprises of people, both rebel Cylon and human, who volunteer to stay aboard ''Galactica''. There are only perhaps several hundred human or humanoid fighters, but fortunately the Cylons also add a few hundred [[Cylon Centurion]]s to the attack and defense forces.

Racetrack and Skulls are sent on a reconnaissance mission in a [[Raptor]]. They find the Colony in orbit of a black hole and also find the only place that a ship can jump in and out safely: within a kilometer of The Colony: point-blank range for The Colony's weapons.

Admiral Adama turns over command of the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] to [[Hoshi]] while [[Romo Lampkin]] is made the new President of the Colonies (as [[Lee Adama]] chooses to stay on ''Galactica'' to fight).

==Battle==

''Galactica'' jumps in directly in front of the Colony, which opens fire with its gun batteries as it's too close for missiles or nukes for both sides. ''Galactica'' takes a pounding until [[Samuel Anders]] (now effectively ''Galactica's'' [[Hybrid]]) manages to hack into the Colony and shut down its Hybrids and their weapon control.

''Galactica'' immediately launches her [[Viper (RDM)|Vipers]] to engage the Colony's Raiders while the battlestar's Raptors jump directly from the starboard [[flight pod]] in a flanking position to board the Colony. The Raptor's jumps rip open the side of the flight pod, but safely arrive at the battle.

As ''Galactica's'' gun batteries fire at the Colony's gun batteries and Raiders, Admiral Adama orders flank speed on ''Galactica'', ramming the battlestar's dense "alligator-head" bow into the Colony. The collision punchs a hole in the Colony's side, ''Galactica's'' bow effectively docked in the enemy ship. From ''Galactica's'' bow enters allows a strike force made out of marines and Rebel Centurions. Raptor strike forces led by [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]], [[Helo]] and [[Sharon Agathon|Athena]] cut their way in elsewhere on the Colony's hull.

The fight is not without serious losses. Racetrack and Skulls arm their nukes aboard their Raptor but are killed when an asteroid hits their ship, punching a hole in the window and smashing their helmets.

Inside the Colony, both strike forces push onwards despite opposition from not only modern Centurions but older [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Model 0005 Centurions]].

[[Kara Thrace]]'s forces discover Boomer, who has retrieved Hera out of sympathy and because she feels she owes Adama a favor. She hands the child over to the rescue team without a fight, warning the team that their Raptors have been destroyed and cannot be used for escape. Fortunately, the battle plan was to abandon the Raptors and return to ''Galactica'' through her bow.

After Sharon Agathon kills Sharon Valerii, Thrace's team meets up with [[Lee Adama]] and his team. All retreat to ''Galactica's'' airlock to escape the Colony.

Cavil, [[Simon]] and a [[Number Five]] go on the offensive, leading a platoon of Centurions in a boarding attack on ''Galactica''. Firefights break out all over the ship, with both sides suffering heavy casualties. [[Gaius Baltar]] and [[Caprica Six]] are among the many that help defend the ship from the boarders.

Karl Agathon is wounded by a Five. Hera runs away in the chaos. Her mother goes after her at her husband's insistence. [[Laura Roslin]], working in [[sickbay]], senses Hera's return and chases after her as well in what becomes a parallel of the [[Opera House Prophecy]], each person in turn part of a vision that protects the child from harm as she wanders through decks filled with gunfire and enemy forces. Caprica Six and Baltar eventually find Hera and take her with them to [[CIC]], recreating their movement as seen in their visions, encountering the [[Final Five]] there, standing on the CIC balcony.

Cavil is captured in CIC. During an explosion, Cavil takes Hera hostage and plans to leave with her as he sees her as the only hope for his kind. Baltar successfully talks Cavil into a truce in exchange for Hera's life. [[Saul Tigh]] sweetens the pot by offering [[Resurrection (RDM)|resurrection]] in exchange for the permanent true between humanity and Cylone. Cavil calls off his forces and the battle seems to end.

==Broken Truce==

However, the truce is short-lived. Shortly after the Final Five begin downloading their knowledge of resurrection to the enemy forces, [[Galen Tyrol]] breaks the download and kills [[Tory Foster]] when he learns that she is responsible for the [[The Ties That Bind|murder of Cally Tyrol]]. Believing themselves betrayed, the Cylons restart their attack, but after the Doral and Simon that joined him in CIC are killed, Cavil swears and kills himself. The Raiders resume attacking ''Galactica''.

In space, another asteroid strikes Racetrack's Raptor and causes her dead hand to accidentally hit the launch button for the remainder of the nuclear missiles from Galactica and Pegasus to fire. All 8 of the missiles hit the Colony, badly damaging it and knocking it out of its orbit towards the black hole nearby--and pulling ''Galactica'' with it.

Admiral Adama orders Thrace to jump the ship--[[blind jump|anywhere]]. Without the coordinates to the Fleet's location, she realizes that [[The Music|the mysterious music played by her father]] forms FTL coordinates. She enters the coordinates and ''Galactica'' escapes as the Colony is sucked into the black hole and destroyed.

==Aftermath==

The toll of battle and her structural frailty are too much for the old battlestar. As she completes the jump, ''Galactica'' suffers a series of critical structural failures, breaking her backbone and permanently losing her FTL ability.

But Thrace's coordinates take ''Galactica'' to a habitable planet, lush and filled with life. They name this planet [[Earth (RDM)|Earth]] and, after retrieving the other Colonials at the rendezvous coordinates, the population of the Fleet is able to settle without concern.

The Rebel Cylons settle down with them and give the [[Rebel Basestar]] to their Centurions to find freedom and their own destiny.

The Hybrid Samuel Anders is instructed to autopilot ''Galactica'' and the last of her charge into the Sun, destroying the ships and allowing humanity and the Rebel Cylons a fresh start, sans technology.

It is not known whether the Cylons on the Colony were able to transmit any data or if any of them were able to escape before it fell into the black hole. The fate of the loyalist Cylons who were not on the Colony is likewise unclear, however, with both reproduction and the recovery of resurrection technology unlikely, their extinction is a foregone conclusion.

* [[Doctor Zee]] is in [[Adama (1980)|Adama]]'s [[Adama's quarters|quarters]], asking him if he believes that dreams are relevant. Adama replies that some of them are.

* Zee tells Adama that he had a dream that he was neither born aboard ''[[Galactica (1980)|Galactica]]'' or any of the other ships in the [[The Fleet (TOS)|The Fleet]]. Adama confirms this.

* Zee asks who he is and of his origin; Adama instead asks about his dream.

* Zee relates to Adama that his dream is not about him, but of "a great [[Colonial Warrior|Warrior]]" whose name was [[Starbuck (1980)|Starbuck]]. A shocked Adama stands up and tells Zee to please tell him of the dream.

* Years back, Starbuck and [[Boomer (1980)|Boomer]] are on patrol, but are ambushed by [[Cylons (TOS)|Cylon]] [[Raider (TOS)|Raiders]] as part of a "great battle".

* A Raider manages to damage Starbuck's [[Viper (1980)|Viper]], but is able to execute a reverse thrust and thus the Cylons overshoot him. He then fires on a Raider, destroying one.

* In another, apparently damaged Raider, a Centurion comments that the move is unexpected and that the Warrior is very good; a small consolation, given that they will crash.

* In the battle, Starbuck's Viper is damaged severely, and he realizes he will not be able to make it back to the Fleet, much to Boomer's dismay.

* Boomer offers to stay with Starbuck for as long as he can. Starbuck balks at the offer, noting that the Fleet cannot afford to lose two pilots and their ships. Despite Boomer's insistence that he will get help, Starbuck tells Boomer that his first duty is to warn the Fleet.

* An emotionally distracted Boomer then asks if Starbuck will drift or try to find land; Starbuck affirms the latter. Boomer tells Starbuck to take care of himself, to which Starbuck replies in the affirmative.

* Starbuck tells Boomer to send [[Cassiopeia]] and [[Athena (TOS)|Athena]] his love; but makes note that "tell them to not sit around waiting, I might like it where I'm going." The conversation is cut short when Starbuck tells Boomer that his [[support vapors]] are running low.

* Starbuck tells Boomer that he will be seeing him; Boomer gives his pal a thumb's up, Starbuck returns this gesture.

* Boomer veers off, telling his "dear, dear friend" that "if I could switch places with you, I would".

* Starbuck heads toward a system with three visible planetary bodies.

* Back at ''Galactica'', the battlestar and her Vipers fight off Cylon Raiders.

* In a smoke-filled [[core command]], Boomer tells a clean-shaven Adama that Starbuck is out there and needs their help. An emotional Adama replies that they can't go back for him, and that they would be lucky if they were able to save the Fleet from the Cylon attack.

* In reply to a question to Adama about never coming back, Adama informs Boomer in a raised voice that they can never do so, as there is "no going back, our enemy pushes us on and on and on, and until we're strong enough, or can find [[Earth (1980)|Earth]] and get help, we can never stop, or turn away, or look back!"

* Boomer begins to walk away without a word, but turns around and thanks Adama for his honesty. An [[Girl on Bridge|officer]] notifies Adama that the Vipers want permission to pursue the retreating Cylons, but he orders that they land immediately and the Fleet increase to flank speed.

* He says his tearful farewell to Starbuck, telling him both that he loves him and that they all love him.

* Out beyond the Fleet, Starbuck begins landing procedures as he approaches [[Planet Starbuck|a planet]] and then crash lands on a sand dune.

* In the crash site, Starbuck's Viper cockpit has become an escape pod and jettisoned from the rest of the fuselage; Starbuck is alive, but is whimpering and has a headache. He then thinks the headache is wonderful. "Pain, I love you," he says, thankful to be alive.

* Climbing out of the wreck he discovers nothing but sand and barren rock on this desert planet. He activates his [[automatic beacon]] for help he knew would never come, takes a knapsack and begins his trek on the planet, thinking that he may find an oasis, or thousands of primitive people who would worship him like some sort of "winged god from the heavens".

* During his trek, he decides to call the [[Starbuck (planet)|planet "Starbuck"]], after himself for he discovered it.

* Exploring the terrain for a while, and experiencing some hopelessness, since he only has three days of food rations, Starbuck suddenly happens upon the wreckage of a Cylon fighter from the battle.

* Starbuck surveys the wreckage, asking what he had done to anger the Gods so as to bring Cylons upon the planet Starbuck as well. With his pistol drawn, he surveys the wreckage. None of the Centurions appear to be functional.

* Later, during a wind storm and cold enough to require a [[Uniforms (TOS)|parka]], Starbuck begins pulling the Cylon ship apart to construct a shelter. He starts a fire with his [[laser pistol (TOS)|laser pistol]] and wonders if his being marooned on the planet is repayment for every selfish act he's ever done.

=== Act 2 ===

* In the morning, Starbuck talks to the "dead" Cylons to give them his orders of the day. He wants the area whitewashed, boundaries manicured and the uniform of the day will be "polished metallic". They'll dine at dusk in dress silvers, and he'll expect some form of entertainment.

* One of the Cylons falls out of its chair. Starbuck whips around with his pistol drawn, telling the Cylon never to do that again. He adds that they speak only when spoken to and they speak directly to him and never amongst themselves.

* He asks if they have any questions. The Cylons do not reply and Starbuck says he's heading to headquarters. They may continue with their duties.

* Of the Cylons, Starbuck says they are a loose group and it would take some time to whip them into shape.

* On the third day, Starbuck decides to cannibalize the Centurions and try to rebuild one into a functioning unit to deal with his boredom. Starbuck runs a line of wire from the Cylon to the Raider wreck.

* When the task is complete, the Cylon activates and immediately threatens to kill Starbuck. Starbuck manages to win over the huge robot soldier with a combination of persuasion and threats to turn off his power.

* After the Cylon has managed to convince Starbuck not to switch him off for good, he asks why Starbuck reconstructed him.

* Starbuck explains, rather wanly, that after three days alone, he decided he needed a friend. "We are enemies," the Cylon states. "We're cultural dissidents," Starbuck rationalizes, since there are only the two of them on this planet.

* Starbuck offers to teach the Cylon everything he knows about humans, in the process names the hulking machine "[[Cyrus|Cy]]." He also asks the Cylon if he's ever heard of a Colonial card game called [[pyramid (TOS)|pyramid]]. Cy replies in the negative and Starbuck comments that Cy has all the makings of a perfect companion.

* As Cy and Starbuck create a table outside the encampment, Cy and Starbuck discuss the Cylon Empire and its quest for perfection. Starbuck asks how the Cylons can have an empire without love and the two different sexes. Cy notes that in the Cylons' studies of humans, they noted that women were weaker then men. Starbuck replies that they have other strengths and tend to live longer than men.

* Starbuck gets uncomfortable and asks to change the subject. After Cy asks if he's irritated Starbuck, he replies that he just doesn't want to talk about women anymore and proceeds to teach Cy the Pyramid card game. After making sure the Cylon hasn't played the game before, Starbuck asks Cy to cut the deck, which results in a slightly sloppy mess of cards.

* That night, Cy and Starbuck play Pyramid. Starbuck claims to win, however Cy contests this as he had four pyramids while Starbuck only had three. Starbuck tries to weasel his way out of the discussion, with his grammar being corrected in the process, but Cy notes that Starbuck has grown bored with the card games over time and is thus cheating to keep himself interested.

* Cy adds that he is disappointed and leaves. Starbuck asks himself how does one hurt a Cylon's feelings. Starbuck goes outside into the windy dusk and apologizes to Cy, noting that two weeks on the planet have begun to get to him. Cy realizes that Starbuck would prefer the company of a "woo-man". Promising to locate a woman for Starbuck, the Centurion heads out into the bitter cold.

* Feeling guilty, Starbuck searches for the runaway Centurion all night, but is unable to find him. He notes to himself that had anyone asked him if he were capable of feeling sorry for a Cylon, he would have answered in the negative.

* Starbuck awakens in the morning, but doesn't have the courage to face the day. He tries to go back to sleep, but is shocked when Cy arrives the next morning, carrying [[Angela|an unconscious, pregnant woman]] in his arms as his "surprise". Cy sets her down on a makeshift rock-ledge bed.

* Starbuck notes that she's alive. Cy comically replies that he believed that Starbuck would have preferred her that way. Starbuck adds that she's a living breathing human being, believing Cy abducted her. Cy replies that since he feels he's betrayed his beliefs already, what is helping another human to that end.

* Starbuck notes that the woman is different, with Cy replying that there "wasn't much of a selection", and tells the Cylon that she's pregnant. After explaining that she's about to birth a child, Cy notes that he is "rapidly being surrounded" by humans.

* Starbuck asks Cy to fetch some water where Starbuck's laser opened an underground stream. Cy replies "[[by your command]]", but notes that Starbuck has no authority over him. Cy goes off to get water.

* Starbuck tends to Angela, who is still unconscious.

* Later, Angela is awake, but has not said anything. Starbuck believes she is in some kind of shock, perhaps the last survivor of an entire race. She stands outside with Cy and Starbuck, the latter of whom splits logs with his pistol.

* Despite her apparent inability to talk, Starbuck relates his life story to her. He speaks of his relationship with women, saying that he found it difficult to commit to any one woman and was afraid of getting hurt.

* After piling up logs, Starbuck notes that she's walked away. Cy comments that while he doesn't find Starbuck's stories fascinating, he doesn't walk away at least.

* Starbuck asks if he said something. Cy replies in the negative, "What could I possibly have to say to you, I'm nothing but a machine." Cy walks off as well.

* At night, Cy is turning a hand-crank generator as Starbuck doles out rations, which he notes are rapidly being depleted as they now have two mouths to feed.

* As Starbuck begins eating, the woman asks Starbuck a short question from out of nowhere: "Would you die for me?" Starbuck finds that question odd, particularly for a first question. Starbuck chastises her for not speaking earlier, which she apologizes for. Starbuck notes he's been babbling for seven days; he says he's not only embarrassed but angry. The woman, named [[Angela]], tells him not to be angry.

* Starbuck tells her that he has questions. She happily replies that he can ask her anything he'd like. Asked where she come, Angela answers that she is from a "dimension beyond" and she came in "the usual way". He then inquires about her ship, but she replies that she was dropped off. Starbuck sarcastically posits that she was dumped on the planet because she couldn't pay for her fair, which she finds amusing.

* She leaves. Starbuck vainly tells her not to go out, saying its minus 50 outside. She exits anyway. Starbuck tells Cy that she can't go out there, but Cy notes that she already did.

* After grabbing his parka, Starbuck caustically praises Cy that the Cylon knows how to pick them, saying that she's as "loony as they come". Cy answers that he doesn't know what this means, adding that it's her turn at the generator.

* Starbuck leaves, giving Angela his parka. She then begins strangely referring to her unborn baby as "our child," referring to her and Starbuck, and indicates a vehicle must be built to transport the baby. She notes that it will not be safe on planet Starbuck for long, noting that the automatic beacon from the Cylon ship will soon bring the Cylons to the planet.

* Starbuck backtracks and asks her about her use of the term "our child". He notes that it would look bad in the [[Commander's Court]], given that they're the only two humans on the planet. She corrects him and mentions that the child is his spiritual child. She asks him if he's ready for progress, asking him if he's spent enough energy and resources on himself.

* Starbuck admits that he was honest in discussing his appetites and bad habits. Angela tells him to put those aside and notes that they must begin making plans at dawn for the ship. If he chooses.

* Angela kisses him on the cheek and heads back toward the shelter.

=== Act 3 ===

* In the morning, Starbuck makes a hanging cradle out of the rudder of Cy's fighter. After telling Cy this, Cy inquires as to the baby's time of arrival. Starbuck replies that Cy makes it sound like a battle squadron landing, and that babies arrive on the time of their choosing. Cy replies that whenever they need to have a new Cylon, they merely make one. After Starbuck explains the gestation and pregnancy periods to Cy, the Cylon notes that it is a primitive way of doing things.

* Cy opines that they will, at least, have another pair of hands at the generator. Starbuck drops the bombshell that the baby won't be able to be of any use to them for that. In fact, Cy will have to do more work on the generator for at least the first few months.

* Cy comments that the entire operation "sounds like a typical human plan. Impractical and clumsy." He adds that "it is not a wonder you lost the war".

* Angela exits the shelter and asks Starbuck about the ship. Starbuck replies that he's come up with various ideas, but they're not practical. Angela notes that they have no choice as the Cylons are on their way. Starbuck asks her how she knows this, particularly when he ripped out the automatic beacon. She replies that it was working and that they know the course. According to her, everything has already been predestined.

* Starbuck tells her that by taking the Raiders engines and supports, he'll be able to add them to his escape pod. He asks her what they'll do after they fashion the craft, as the Fleet is so far away that they won't be able to reach it. She pleads with him to prepare the craft.

* She begins having contractions. She retreats to the shelter, telling him to begin work on the ship.

* In part to appease Angela, Starbuck enlists Cy's help in building an escape vessel from the combined wreckage of the Viper and the Cylon Raiders. After initially protesting his need for an engine from his ship, Cy willingly helps.

* When Cy asks where they will be going, Starbuck replies that he doesn't have the faintest idea. "Another great human plan heard from," Cy opines.

* Starbuck tells him that he may be humoring her to help her through the pain, saying that pregnancy is a painful process. Cy suggests that the humans should try the Cylons' methods of expanding their numbers. After Starbuck mentions that he'll have to mention it to Adama after they reach the Fleet, Cy asks that Starbuck not mention that the idea came from him, since "you humans are emotional about our having destroyed you".

* Cy and Starbuck begin removing the engine and building the ship. After building the [[hybrid craft|hybrid Galactican/Cylon craft]], Cy is proud and mentions that they did it without Angela's help. Starbuck makes a point of mentioning that it was her idea, which reminds Cy that he is outnumbered by humans on planet Starbuck. He falls back on the fact that Cylons cannot be friends with humans and Cy walks off.

* Starbuck hears Angela calling out for him. He rushes back to the shelter where Angela announces it's time.

* Starbuck bucks out of the shelter and calls for Cy, telling him that the baby is coming. Cy runs toward the shelter.

* After the baby is born, Cy, who turns the generator, comments to Starbuck that the Cylon way is better. Starbuck remarks that the baby is beautiful. After complimenting her on it being as beautiful as his mother, she remarks that they have a healthy baby boy.

* Cy stops cranking the generator and hits it. Starbuck assures him that Angeal would sure be happy to have him as grandfather. After Starbuck answers the question posed by the Cylon regarding the term, Cy replies that they cannot be friends and leaves.

* Starbuck offers to take the baby off Angela's hands, allowing her to rest. She instead asks if he's willing to sacrifice his life for the child. He replies that everything is going to be all right and that they're going to start their own new world.

* Angela tells him to prepare for what is to come. He tells her that the ship is already done, but she tells him to prepare for the final judgment.

* She tells him that tomorrow is their last day on the planet. However, he puts the baby in the cradle and hopes for the best, believing the pain of childbirth was an emotional and psychological burden for her.

* The morning after the baby's birth, Starbuck is shocked to see another Cylon fighter landed close to the crash site. The Cylons apparently picked up the distress beacon, and are coming to investigate.

* Starbuck hustles back to the shelter to warn Angela about the Cylons' arrival. Cy is also there and, upon hearing this, tells them that he must go.

* With his laser pistol drawn, Starbuck pleads with Cy not to let him shoot. Cy says his goodbyes and leaves, Starbuck not having the heart to shoot him.

* Starbuck believes that Cy cannot help himself from betraying the humans' presence on the planet. Starbuck is ready to escort Angela and baby Zee to the completed hybrid ship, despite not getting a direct answer to his question about her foreknowledge of everything that is about to happens. She only tells him that this is the judgment day she spoke of last night.

* Starbuck helps load Angela and her son inside. He asks her what she meant by judgment day and who would be judging him. She replies that everyone judges themselves. He jokingly replies that he hopes so, because he plans on lenient in certain categories.

* In the event something is to befall him, Starbuck tells her how to launch the ship, informing her that he's programmed the Fleet's secret heading into the computer. He tells her that the ship will automatically lower their body temperatures so that life can be sustained for a maximum period of time.

* She tells him that he is a good man, knowing that Starbuck has no intent of coming with her, seeing as their fuel would last twice as long if he did not come along. "Who says I'm not coming along?" Starbuck replies with his maverick bravado. Angela bids her goodbye to Starbuck, saying that she truly loves him.

* He closes the canopy "just in case" and, using an external control panel, begins the launch of the ship.

* As the ship disappears into the sky, Starbuck is suddenly pinned down by the Cylon laser fire, but is surprised to see Cy appear, carrying his own laser. Cy admits to having repaired the laser and tells Starbuck to wait behind the rock.

A rescue team of 20 Raptors is sent by ''[[Pegasus]]'' to [[Caprica]] to rescue any remaining survivors. 3 Raptors are lost on the way and On the final jump to Caprica, [[Raptor 612]] is lost because it jumps right into the middle of a mountain. The remaining Raptors continue on, then Starbuck, [[Karl Agathon|Helo]], [[Sharon Agathon|Sharon]] and the Marines continue on foot.

One klick away from the resistance's base camp, they see movement, and find [[Samuel Anders]] and his whole group. [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] is overjoyed to see him, but Anders warns that the Cylons are right behind them; the resistance's base was ambushed that morning, and half of Anders' men are dead ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I]]).

The Marines and [[Caprica Resistance]] members start coming under Cylon artillery fire. The team retreats to an old stone fortress and then the bombardment stops. They wait 18 hours only to discover that the Cylons have left permanently; [[Cavil]] mysteriously appears and claims that the Cylons are leaving and that humanity is spared. The rescue team returns to ''[[Galactica]]'' and Caprica is completely abandoned.

== Events leading up to the battle ==

When a [[Raptor]] with a civilian science team goes missing, Admiral [[William Adama|Adama]] orders a [[SAR|search and rescue]] mission - his [[Lee Adama|son]]'s first mission as commander of ''Pegasus''. After jumping to the Raptor's last known location, a Viper patrol encounters Cylon [[Raider (RDM)#Cylon War-era Raider|fighters]] of an unknown configuration. ''Pegasus'' fights off the attack and eventually jumps out again, but a Raider is shot down in one of the [[landing bay]]s. The wreck is discovered to be a Cylon War-era Raider crewed by [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Centurions]] from that time, its navigational records pointing to the possible location of their home base.

Remembering Cylon [[Razor Flashbacks|experimentation on humans]] during the first [[Cylon War]], Adama transfers his flag to ''Pegasus'', hoping to rescue the missing people and maybe learn what exactly he witnessed over forty years ago. Not wanting to risk both battlestars, ''Pegasus'' is dispatched alone.

== Confronting the Cylons ==

''Pegasus'' initiates the confrontation by jumping to the basestar's location, then commencing an attack that draws off the vessel's Raiders. The battlestar shuts down its [[FTL]] drive and simulates engine damage, ensuring a concentrated attack by the Raiders that leaves the basestar's immediate perimeter unguarded. ''Pegasus'' successfully engages the fighters, taking only minor damage in the process.

While this is happening, a Raptor - carrying a rescue team and a nuclear weapon - jumps past the advancing Raiders and heads for the basestar. When two enemy fighters spot the Raptor, the crew fakes an engine malfunction and abandons ship with the warhead in tow. The Raiders subsequently destroy the Raptor and break off their attack, believing the crew to be dead. No longer pursued, the team continues on its way by means of thruster packs.

Upon successfully boarding the basestar, the rescue team locates the room where the science team is being held. While freeing the prisoners, the rescue party is ambushed by [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Centurions]], and [[Dasilva]] is critically wounded. As two Centurions drag him away, Major [[Kendra Shaw|Shaw]] shoots and kills him, believing that he would have been used by the Cylons for experimentation. Shaw is subsequently shot in the abdomen by one of the Centurions.

The basestar begins jamming [[wireless]] communications, and not knowing if his boarding party is still alive, Commander Lee Adama orders a [[Missile tubes|nuclear missile]] to be fired at the ship, but Admiral Adama countermands him. As the men attempt to determine a decisive plan of action, communications are restored, and [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] reveals that the warhead's remote detonator was damaged in the firefight with the Centurions. The only way to set the warhead off is to do it manually. Lee suggests evacuating the rescue team and then launching the missile, but the admiral points out that the Raiders will destroy anything they fire at the basestar - ultimately, a member of the rescue team will need to stay back and detonate the warhead. Reluctantly, Lee orders Starbuck to fulfill this role, and she complies.

''Pegasus'' immediately launches a second Raptor, getting it close enough to the basestar to land within a hangar bay and to evacuate the rescue team. Starbuck is ready to stay behind when Shaw orders her to leave at gunpoint, intending to detonate the warhead instead. The two argue, but Starbuck eventually concedes, boards the Raptor, and returns to ''Pegasus'' with the others.

With blood streaming from her open wound, a delirious Shaw descends deeper into the basestar, eventually coming across the [[First Hybrid|Hybrid]]'s chamber. The Hybrid knows she wants redemption for her [[Scylla|past actions]] and tells her to come closer, as he has something he needs to tell her. He explains to her that Starbuck will [[The Destiny#The Warning from the First Hybrid|lead mankind to its end]], and that they must not follow her. Shaw attempts to contact ''Pegasus'' and warn them, but can't deliver the entire message due to Cylon jamming. As Shaw prepares to destroy the ship, the Hybrid calmly adresses that "all this has happened before, and will happen again" repeating "again...again" over and over. Shaw detonates the nuke, destroying the Guardian basestar, along with herself, the Hybrid, and the entire Centurion crew ([[Razor]]).

When a [[Raptor]] with a civilian science team goes missing, Admiral [[William Adama|Adama]] orders a [[SAR|search and rescue]] mission - his [[Lee Adama|son]]'s first mission as commander of ''Pegasus''. After jumping to the Raptor's last known location, a Viper patrol encounters Cylon [[Raider (RDM)#Cylon War-era Raider|fighters]] of an unknown configuration. ''Pegasus'' fights off the attack and eventually jumps out again, but a Raider is shot down in one of the [[landing bay]]s. The wreck is discovered to be a Cylon War-era Raider crewed by [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Centurions]] from that time, its navigational records pointing to the possible location of their home base.

Remembering Cylon [[Razor Flashbacks|experimentation on humans]] during the first [[Cylon War]], Adama transfers his flag to ''Pegasus'', hoping to rescue the missing people and maybe learn what exactly he witnessed over forty years ago. Not wanting to risk both battlestars, ''Pegasus'' is dispatched alone.

== Confronting the Cylons ==

''Pegasus'' initiates the confrontation by jumping to the basestar's location, then commencing an attack that draws off the vessel's Raiders. The battlestar shuts down its [[FTL]] drive and simulates engine damage, ensuring a concentrated attack by the Raiders that leaves the basestar's immediate perimeter unguarded. ''Pegasus'' successfully engages the fighters, taking only minor damage in the process.

While this is happening, a Raptor - carrying a rescue team and a nuclear weapon - jumps past the advancing Raiders and heads for the basestar. When two enemy fighters spot the Raptor, the crew fakes an engine malfunction and abandons ship with the warhead in tow. The Raiders subsequently destroy the Raptor and break off their attack, believing the crew to be dead. No longer pursued, the team continues on its way by means of thruster packs.

Upon successfully boarding the basestar, the rescue team locates the room where the science team is being held. While freeing the prisoners, the rescue party is ambushed by [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Centurions]], and [[Dasilva]] is critically wounded. As two Centurions drag him away, Major [[Kendra Shaw|Shaw]] shoots and kills him, believing that he would have been used by the Cylons for experimentation. Shaw is subsequently shot in the abdomen by one of the Centurions.

The basestar begins jamming [[wireless]] communications, and not knowing if his boarding party is still alive, Commander Lee Adama orders a [[Missile tubes|nuclear missile]] to be fired at the ship, but Admiral Adama countermands him. As the men attempt to determine a decisive plan of action, communications are restored, and [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] reveals that the warhead's remote detonator was damaged in the firefight with the Centurions. The only way to set the warhead off is to do it manually. Lee suggests evacuating the rescue team and then launching the missile, but the admiral points out that the Raiders will destroy anything they fire at the basestar - ultimately, a member of the rescue team will need to stay back and detonate the warhead. Reluctantly, Lee orders Starbuck to fulfill this role, and she complies.

''Pegasus'' immediately launches a second Raptor, getting it close enough to the basestar to land within a hangar bay and to evacuate the rescue team. Starbuck is ready to stay behind when Shaw orders her to leave at gunpoint, intending to detonate the warhead instead. The two argue, but Starbuck eventually concedes, boards the Raptor, and returns to ''Pegasus'' with the others.

With blood streaming from her open wound, a delirious Shaw descends deeper into the basestar, eventually coming across the [[First Hybrid|Hybrid]]'s chamber. The Hybrid knows she wants redemption for her [[Scylla|past actions]] and tells her to come closer, as he has something he needs to tell her. He explains to her that Starbuck will [[The Destiny#The Warning from the First Hybrid|lead mankind to its end]], and that they must not follow her. Shaw attempts to contact ''Pegasus'' and warn them, but can't deliver the entire message due to Cylon jamming. As Shaw prepares to destroy the ship, the Hybrid calmly adresses that "all this has happened before, and will happen again" repeating "again...again" over and over. Shaw detonates the nuke, destroying the Guardian basestar, along with herself, the Hybrid, and the entire Centurion crew ([[Razor]]).

The '''Battle of Tauron''' shares joint status with [[Operation Raptor Talon]] as the last battle of the first [[Cylon War]]. On the last day of the war, the colony of [[Tauron (RDM)|Tauron]] was besieged by a [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] invasion force. Fighting was rampant, with the Cylons appearing to have possessed air, space and ground superiority.

With at least three [[basestar (RDM)|basestar]]s in orbit, the Cylons sent ground forces and [[Raider (RDM)|Raider]]s onto the planet's surface. Colonial military ground forces engaged in urban warfare with [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|Centurions]] amidst bombed out buildings, trapping civilians (such as [[Helena Cain]]'s family in the city of [[Hypatia]]) in the crossfire.

It was during this operation that the Cylons finalized an [[Cimtar Peace Accords|armistice]] with the [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Colonies]], and instigated an immediate retreat from the surface of Tauron, as well as Colonial space ("[[Razor]]", extended version).

A rescue team is sent by ''[[Galactica]]'' to [[Caprica]] to rescue any remaining survivors. One the final jump to Caprica, [[Raptor 612]] is lost because it jumps right into the middle of a mountain. The remaining Raptors continue on, then Starbuck, [[Karl Agathon|Helo]], [[Sharon Agathon|Sharon]] and the Marines continue on foot.

One klick away from the resistance's base camp, they see movement, and find [[Samuel Anders]] and his whole group. [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] is overjoyed to see him, but Anders warns that the Cylons are right behind them; the resistance's base was ambushed that morning, and half of Anders' men are dead ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I]]).

The Marines and [[Caprica Resistance]] members start coming under Cylon artillery fire. The team retreats to an old stone fortress and then the bombardment stops. They wait 18 hours only to discover that the Cylons have left permanently; [[Cavil]] mysteriously appears and claims that the Cylons are leaving and that humanity is spared. The rescue team returns to ''[[Galactica]]'' and Caprica is completely abandoned.

A discovery of a [[Eye of Jupiter|mysterious religious artifact]] leads to a standoff between [[Galactica (RDM)|''Galactica'']] and [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] forces.

Shortly after the [[Temple of Five]] is discovered during day 14 of the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]]'s [[The Passage|food-collection operations]] on the [[algae planet]], four Cylon [[basestar (RDM)|basestar]]s [[FTL|jump into orbit]]. Admiral [[William Adama]] orders all civilian ships to escape to emergency jump coordinates (keeping ''Galactica'' behind to support the ground team) as the Cylons discreetly deploy one [[Heavy Raider]] to the planet's surface.

Uncharacteristically, the Cylons do not attack, but seek a parley with the Colonials. After a [[wireless]] transmission from the basestars to ''Galactica'', [[Gaius Baltar]], a [[Number Three]], a [[Cavil]], and [[Sharon Valerii|Boomer]] of the basestars' command group come to ''Galactica'' in order to negotiate for control of the [[Eye of Jupiter]], reported to be in the temple. The Cylons claim that if they gain possession, they will leave the Fleet alone and turn over Baltar. Admiral Adama delivers an ultimatum: attempt to land on the planet and ''Galactica'' will destroy the temple with a nuclear strike. The meeting ends in a stalemate.

The Cylons soon jam all Colonial wireless frequencies, but not before Colonial command manages to relay most of the situation. On the surface, Major [[Lee Adama|Adama]] plans a defense for the temple, placing [[Samuel Anders]] in command of all civilians present, and using Captain [[Kara Thrace|Thrace]]'s Raptor, the only one on the surface, for reconnaissance. Chief [[Galen Tyrol]] and his team place [[G-4]] packs around the Temple's central spire to destroy the Temple in the event of its compromise.

Meanwhile, [[Cylon Centurion]]s from the first Heavy Raider build a surface-to-air missile battery. As Starbuck conducts her reconnaissance, she encounters the battery. Evasive maneuvers by Starbuck avoid a direct hit, but her Raptor is disabled and crash-lands.

Six Heavy Raiders are deployed from the basestars toward the planet as part of the Cylons' plan to both defend Baltar and D'Anna-Three, who are heading to the temple and to call Admiral Adama's bluff.

Admiral Adama counters by preparing ''Galactica'''s nuclear arsenal, arming seven missiles at the surface ([[missile tubes]] 4 through 10) to obliterate the temple ([[The Eye of Jupiter]]).

The Cylons realize that Adama's threat must be taken seriously, and order recall all but one of the Heavy Raiders (an internal dispute with their [[Number Three]] units and the other Cylons prevent the last recall). Admiral Adama reconsiders the risk and rescinds the missile launch.

On the planet, both Starbuck and her Raptor are generally intact after the crash, but the Raptor's fly-by-wire system is damaged and the pilot has serious burns to her hands, making it impossible to fly.

Lieutenant [[Anastasia Dualla]] is assigned [[SAR]] detail with Sergeant [[Omar Fischer|Fischer]], who is killed in a sniper attack. Dualla manages to reach the Raptor, and, after repairing the damaged [[avionics]], return Starbuck to ''Galactica'', despite her lack of flight training.

Major Adama's team place [[tylium]] bombs within a narrow trail where the terrain would require any enemy forces to walk through. Three Cylons enter the kill zone, but detect the bomb before all of them are inside the zone. The Colonial's detonation mostly disables one Centurion, and two retreat, but [[Hillard]] is killed. After a later offensive by the two remaining Cylons, Major Adama calls for a withdrawal of Colonial forces and the destruction of the Temple. Chief Tyrol refuses Major Adama's order and this delays the detonation.

When the Colonials activate the detonator, nothing happens. A small Cylon team, including deposed president [[Gaius Baltar]], had entered the Temple moments before and removed the G-4's detonator caps.

The Cylons' official intention, to retrieve information on the whereabouts of Earth, are ignored by the Number Three copy in the Temple. A [[Cavil]] model assigned with the group attempts to kill the Three, but Baltar kills the Cavil unit.

The Colonials witness the star's nova event. Not wishing to be caught in the shockwave, all Cylon forces jump away. The star's appearance tells the Colonials that the star itself, not anything within, is the Eye of Jupiter marker. The Colonials quickly investigate the Temple to find Baltar, who is rendered unconscious and captured.

All Colonials are quickly retrieved by Raptor back to ''Galactica'', which escapes as the nova shockwave tears through the star system and destroys the planet.

Lieutenant Gaeta is able to use the information about the nova to discern the next waypoint: the [[Ionian nebula]].

The Cylons, failing to obtain information from the Temple due to the unauthorized actions of the Number Three models to seek the forbidden identities of the missing five humanoid Cylons, intentionally [[boxing|deactivate]] all Number Three models throughout the Cylon race ([[Rapture]]).

Through various means of tracking one of the Colonial's fuel ships, the Cylons continue their pursuit of the Fleet ("[[The Son Also Rises]]", "[[Crossroads, Part I]]").

Admiral [[William Adama]] orders all civilian ships to escape to emergency jump coordinates (keeping ''Galactica'' behind to support the ground team) as the Cylons discreetly deploy one [[Heavy Raider]] to the planet's surface.

Uncharacteristically, the Cylons do not attack, but seek a parley with the Colonials. After a [[wireless]] transmission from the basestars to ''Galactica'', [[Gaius Baltar]], a [[Number Three]], a [[Cavil]], and [[Sharon Valerii|Boomer]] of the basestars' command group come to ''Galactica'' in order to negotiate for control of the [[Eye of Jupiter]], reported to be in the temple. The Cylons claim that if they gain possession, they will leave the Fleet alone and turn over Baltar. Admiral Adama delivers an ultimatum: attempt to land on the planet and ''Galactica'' will destroy the temple with a nuclear strike. The meeting ends in a stalemate.

The Cylons soon jam all Colonial wireless frequencies, but not before Colonial command manages to relay most of the situation. On the surface, Major [[Lee Adama|Adama]] plans a defense for the temple, placing [[Samuel Anders]] in command of all civilians present, and using Captain [[Kara Thrace|Thrace]]'s Raptor, the only one on the surface, for reconnaissance. Chief [[Galen Tyrol]] and his team place [[G-4]] packs around the Temple's central spire to destroy the Temple in the event of its compromise.

Meanwhile, [[Cylon Centurion]]s from the first Heavy Raider build a surface-to-air missile battery. As Starbuck conducts her reconnaissance, she encounters the battery. Evasive maneuvers by Starbuck avoid a direct hit, but her Raptor is disabled and crash-lands.

Six Heavy Raiders are deployed from the basestars toward the planet as part of the Cylons' plan to both defend Baltar and D'Anna-Three, who are heading to the temple and to call Admiral Adama's bluff.

Admiral Adama counters by preparing ''Galactica'''s nuclear arsenal, arming seven missiles at the surface ([[missile tubes]] 4 through 10) to obliterate the temple ([[The Eye of Jupiter]]).

The Cylons realize that Adama's threat must be taken seriously, and order recall all but one of the Heavy Raiders (an internal dispute with their [[Number Three]] units and the other Cylons prevent the last recall). Admiral Adama reconsiders the risk and rescinds the missile launch.

On the planet, both Starbuck and her Raptor are generally intact after the crash, but the Raptor's fly-by-wire system is damaged and the pilot has serious burns to her hands, making it impossible to fly.

Lieutenant [[Anastasia Dualla]] is assigned [[SAR]] detail with Sergeant [[Omar Fischer|Fischer]], who is killed in a sniper attack. Dualla manages to reach the Raptor, and, after repairing the damaged [[avionics]], return Starbuck to ''Galactica'', despite her lack of flight training.

Major Adama's team place [[tylium]] bombs within a narrow trail where the terrain would require any enemy forces to walk through. Three Cylons enter the kill zone, but detect the bomb before all of them are inside the zone. The Colonial's detonation mostly disables one Centurion, and two retreat, but [[Hillard]] is killed. After a later offensive by the two remaining Cylons, Major Adama calls for a withdrawal of Colonial forces and the destruction of the Temple. Chief Tyrol refuses Major Adama's order and this delays the detonation.

When the Colonials activate the detonator, nothing happens. A small Cylon team, including deposed president [[Gaius Baltar]], had entered the Temple moments before and removed the G-4's detonator caps.

The Cylons' official intention, to retrieve information on the whereabouts of Earth, are ignored by the Number Three copy in the Temple. A [[Cavil]] model assigned with the group attempts to kill the Three, but Baltar kills the Cavil unit.

The Colonials witness the star's nova event. Not wishing to be caught in the shockwave, all Cylon forces jump away. The star's appearance tells the Colonials that the star itself, not anything within, is the Eye of Jupiter marker. The Colonials quickly investigate the Temple to find Baltar, who is rendered unconscious and captured.

All Colonials are quickly retrieved by Raptor back to ''Galactica'', which escapes as the nova shockwave tears through the star system and destroys the planet.

Lieutenant Gaeta is able to use the information about the nova to discern the next waypoint: the [[Ionian nebula]].

The Cylons, failing to obtain information from the Temple due to the unauthorized actions of the Number Three models to seek the forbidden identities of the missing five humanoid Cylons, intentionally [[boxing|deactivate]] all Number Three models throughout the Cylon race ([[Rapture]]).

Through various means of tracking one of the Colonial's fuel ships, the Cylons continue their pursuit of the Fleet ("[[The Son Also Rises]]", "[[Crossroads, Part I]]").
