==[[Six of One]]==
:''The episode continues directly from the previous one.''

*[[Tory Foster]] sleeps with Baltar in order to gain access to his knowledge about the Cylons and the Final Five.

==[[The Ties That Bind]]==
:''The first scene shows Number One [[Resurrection (RDM)|resurrecting]] from his death in the previous episode. The bulk of the episode, however, takes place 21-22 days after "[[Six of One]]".''

* [[Cally Tyrol]] finds out that her husband is a Cylon and is killed by [[Tory Foster]].

==[[Escape Velocity]]==
:''No definite markers exist, but the episode likely takes place soon after "[[The Ties That Bind]]", given that it opens with a memorial service for Cally Tyrol.''
* Violent clashes between Baltar's cult and other religious denominations cause a debate among the Quorum about the group's religious freedoms. They are eventually tolerated.
:''The episode takes place 58 days into the ''Demetrius''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s mission, or 36 days after "[[The Ties That Bind]]"
*When the ''Demetrius'' is scheduled to return to ''Galactica'', it encounters a [[Heavy Raider]] with [[Leoben Conoy (New Caprica copy)‎|Leoben Conoy]] aboard, who proposes an alliance between the humans and his faction. Thrace decides to jump to his baseship, but her crew refuses and relieves her of command.
*On ''Galactica'', Tyrol despairs over the loss of his wife, confronts Baltar, but eventually makes up with him.

==[[Faith]]==
:''The episode continues directly from the previous one and the events take place over a timespan of 15 hours. In regards to the overall timeline, over three years have passed since the Cylon attack.''
*The standoff on the ''Demetrius'' is defused and Thrace, [[Samuel Anders|Anders]], [[Sharon Agathon|Athena]] and [[Jean Barolay|Barolay]] take Conoy to his basestar. There they meet with [[Natalie]], who takes them to the [[Hybrid]]. They eventually repair the ship's FTL drive and return to the ''Demetrius''.
*After the ''Demetrius'' returns with the Cylon rebels and their basestar, Natalie requests the Colonials' help in un[[box]]ing the Threes and offers them the chance to destroy the Cylon [[Resurrection Hub]] in return.
* Gaeta's leg has to be amputated and he deals with the loss and pain.
* [[Sharon Agathon]], after having another vision of the [[Opera House]] fears that Natalie will take [[Hera Agathon|Hera]] from her, and shoots Natalie after she runs into the child.
* Laura Roslin visits the Hybrid on the baseship, but when it is reactivated, it jumps the ship away.

==[[Sine Qua Non]]==
:''The episode continues nearly directly from the previous one, takes place concurrently with the next episode, and ends shortly before the end of the next episode. During an interview, [[Tom Zarek]] states that it has been 5 years since the holocaust. However, this appears to be a considerable overestimate, since - judging from several other comments by characters and the time that passed between episodes - only about three and a half years have passed since the Miniseries.''

*With Roslin gone and Adama not wanting to acknowledge [[Tom Zarek]] as president, a leadership crisis erupts within the Fleet. [[Lee Adama]] and [[Romo Lampkin]] search for a suitable candidate to become interim president. The choice eventually falls on Lee Adama himself.
*Admiral Adama admits that he can't live without Roslin, and decides to risk waiting alone in a Raptor at a rendezvous point, while the Fleet jumps away. He temporarily puts Saul Tigh in command of ''Galactica'' and the Fleet.

==[[The Hub]]==
:''The episode continues directly from "Guess What's Coming To Dinner?", takes place concurrently with "Sine Qua Non", spans two days, and ends shortly after the end of "Sine Qua Non".''
* The alliance of Cylons and humans successfully destroys the [[Resurrection Hub]]. [[Number Three|D'Anna Biers]] is unboxed and demands to be returned to the Fleet before revealing anything that she knows.
*Roslin has visions of [[Elosha]] and hears [[Gaius Baltar|Baltar]]'s confession about his role in the downfall of humanity.
*''c. Day 1218'' - Boomer and Cavil inform Ellen of the Hub's destruction and demand her help in rebuilding it. Ellen tells them that she is unable to do it without Saul, Tory, Galen, and Sam. Cavil replies that he will mine her brain for the information if need be ([[No Exit]], this scene is "four months ago", fourteen months after Ellen's resurrection)
*After the mission, and after the main events of "Sine Qua Non", the basestar returns to the rendezvous point where Admiral Adama is waiting.

==[[Revelations]]==
:''The episode continues nearly directly from the previous one. When the Fleet arrives at Earth, Admiral Adama states that it had been three years (~1,095 days) since he promised to lead the them to a new home. He likely means "over three years".''

:''The episode continues directly from the previous one.''

==[[No Exit]]==
:''The main timeframe of this episode begins soon after the previous one, while the scenes with Ellen Tigh span a timeframe which begins soon after Ellen's death in [[Exodus, Part II]].''

:''c. Day 1336'' (these scenes are "two days ago")
*Cavil and Boomer inform Ellen that the Simons are getting ready to operate on her brain to extract her knowledge of resurrection technology.
*Ellen accuses Cavil of sadism, and tells Boomer of how he murdered the seventh model, the Daniels, because he thought Ellen was playing favorites.
*Boomer helps Ellen to escape from the basestar in the captured [[Raptor 702]].

:''c. Day 1338'' (Ellen's resurrection was "eighteen months ago")
*Dr. Cottle opens Sam Anders' skull to prepare him for brain surgery. Dr. [[Gerard]] will operate to remove the bullet from Anders' head.
*Anders wakes with his memories from the time before he was boxed by Cavil intact.
*Anders attempts to relay as much about the backstory of the Final Five to Saul Tigh, Galen Tyrol, and Tory Foster as possible before undergoing full surgery.
*Lee Adama and Laura Roslin decide that the new Quorum should be composed of ships' captains, because the people of the fleet are no longer truly divided on the basis of colony.
*Surgery to remove the bullet from Anders' brain is successful, but he is left comatose for unknown reasons.

==[[Deadlock]]==
:''This episode takes place soon after [[No Exit]], and roughly four months after [[Sine Qua Non]].''

==[[Someone to Watch Over Me]]==
:''Several weeks have passed since the end of [[No Exit]], based on Doc Cottle's comment that Anders' EKG readings "haven't changed in weeks."

==[[Islanded In a Stream of Stars]]==
:''This episode takes place shortly after the end of [[Someone to Watch Over Me]].''

==[[Daybreak, Part I|Daybreak, Parts I]][[Daybreak, Part II| & II]]==
*Hera Agathon is rescued from the Cylon [[The Colony|Colony]].
*The Cylon Colony is destroyed.
*Kara Thrace jumps the ''Galactica'' to [[Earth (RDM)#A New Earth|a habitable planet]] already populated by primitive humans who naturally evolved there.
*The Colonial humans and their humanoid Cylon allies settle on the newly discovered planet to pursue a hunter/gatherer lifestyle and mix with the native pre-verbal tribal humans. The fleet, including ''Galactica'', is sent into the Sun. The rebel Basestar is given to the Centurions, who jump away to pursue their own destiny. Kara Thrace disappears, her task complete.
*The newly discovered world is named Earth, after the original planet settled by the Thirteenth Tribe of Kobol. Laura Roslin finally succumbs to her cancer while taking an aerial tour of the planet with William Adama in a Raptor.
*The fleet population is distributed into independent colonies in various continents and regions.
*Hera has at least two daughters, but dies while still a young woman in what will become Tanzania.
*150,000 years later, Earth is home to an advanced society that greatly resembles that of the Colonials, though without spaceflight, and is beginning to develop robots. Hera Agathon's remains have been discovered and identified as [[w:Mitochondrial Eve|Mitochondrial Eve]], most recent common ancestor strictly through female descent of all living humans on the new Earth.<ref>Contrary to what is read from the fictional National Geographic Article, mitochondrial Eve is not the "most recent common ancestor" of humanity. That person perhaps lived 90,000 years later, and virtually all breeding persons living more than 60,000 years before the present (of whom mitochondrial Eve is merely one) were common ancestors of all humanity.</ref>
:''The episode continues nearly directly from the previous one. When the Fleet arrives at Earth, Admiral Adama states that it had been three years (~1,095 days) since he promised to lead the them to a new home. He likely means "over three years".''

*[[D'Anna Biers]] forces [[Saul Tigh]], [[Galen Tyrol]] and [[Samuel Anders]] to reveal themselves as Cylons. The three are arrested, while [[Tory Foster]] secretly joins the Cylons.
*Kara Thrace investigates her [[Starbuck's Viper|Viper]] and discovers a signal that gives them a bearing to Earth.
*President Adama gives the Final Four a full amnesty and shares all information about Earth with the Cylons. Together they jump to the planet, but discover it be a nuclear wasteland.

==[[Blood on the Scales]]==
:''This episode begins immediately after the previous one.''

==[[No Exit]]==

==[[Deadlock]]==
:''This episode takes place soon after [[No Exit]], and roughly four months after [[Sine Qua Non]].''

==[[Someone to Watch Over Me]]==
:''Several weeks have passed since the end of [[No Exit]], based on Doc Cottle's comment that Anders' EKG readings "haven't changed in weeks."

==[[Daybreak, Part I|Daybreak, Parts I]][[Daybreak, Part II| & II]]==

:''For information on an Original Series [[BW:SEP|separate continuity novel]], see [[Destiny (book)]].''

The nature of '''[[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace's]] specific destiny''' began in the Season 1 episode, "[[Flesh and Bone]]", continues through "[[Maelstrom]]", where the character dies, and continues with theological ramifications in the season 3 cliffhanger, "[[Crossroads, Part II]]". Indications from the series' events strongly suggest that Thrace has an unknown connection to one or more locales or entities: The [[Temple of Five]], the Cylon's [[final five]], the [[Thirteenth Tribe (RDM)|Thirteenth Tribe]] and the [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies (RDM)|The Lords of Kobol]].

Thrace is told of her part in a destiny by the second copy of the Cylon [[Leoben Conoy]] in the season 1 episode "[[Flesh and Bone]]" during his interrogation. The lines suggest that Thrace's destiny also involves the Leoben himself:

<div style="font-size:90%"><blockquote>"This is not your path, Starbuck. You have a different destiny."</blockquote>
<blockquote>"All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again."</blockquote>
<blockquote>"You kneel before idols and ask for guidance and you can't see that your destiny's already been written. Each of us plays a role, each time a different role. Maybe the last time I was the interrogator, and you were the prisoner. The players change, the story remains the same. And this time...this time, your role is to deliver my soul unto God. Do it for me. It's your destiny, and mine."</blockquote></div>

In this same dialogue, the Leoben talks of the abuse that Thrace suffered at the hands of her mother, [[Socrata Thrace]].

==The Eye of Jupiter==
[[Image:Valley of Darkness-Starbuck Helo.jpg|thumb|The [[Eye of Jupiter]] in Starbuck's apartment]]
Fewer elements are noted about the destiny in season 2. In the episode "[[Valley of Darkness]]", [[Helo]] and Thrace enter Thrace's old apartment, where, among other paintings, a noticeable "bullseye"-like painting is seen. Several episodes later, in "[[The Farm]]", the Cylon later to be known as [[Sharon Agathon]] tells Thrace after her rescue from the [[farm]]: "They know who you are, Kara. You’re special. Leoben told you that. You have a destiny." A [[Simon]] also reflects knowledge of Thrace's abuse as a child through a medical examination in the same episode.

[[Image:S3-eyeofjupiter.jpg|thumb|The 'mandala' in the [[Temple of Five]]]]
By late into season 3, the episodes "[[The Eye of Jupiter]]" and "[[Rapture]]" reveal the [[Eye of Jupiter]], a symbol left by the [[Thirteenth Tribe (RDM)|Thirteenth Tribe]] in the [[Temple of Five]]. As the home star of the [[algae planet]] goes nova, the star's discharge is very similar to one that was observed in the distant [[Ionian system]] at the time of the Thirteenth Tribe's journey, and greatly resembles the symbol of the Eye in the temple. Only Helo had seen what is now called the "[[w:mandala|mandala]]" by the Fleet leadership before, and shows Thrace the photo of one mandala from the Temple of Five, comparing it to Thrace's symbol. Thrace remembers the words of the Leoben from "Flesh and Bone."

By "[[Maelstrom]]", Thrace is seeing the mandala in many objects: the dripping of wax, and as the colors of a gas giant's planetary storm. Thrace becomes increasing distracted by and attracted to the symbol whenever it appears. When she is knocked unconscious during her last flight and "awakens" in her old apartment (where the mandala appears again), a [[Virtual Leoben|person in Leoben's likeness]] greets Thrace and allows her to relive the last moments with her mother. This section vaguely alludes to information that Socrata knew about her daughter's path in life and tried to prepare her for it as best she knew how. The [[Podcast:Maelstrom|podcast]] for the episode by [[Ron D. Moore]] supports this by stating:

<div style="font-size:90%"><blockquote><nowiki>[. . .]</nowiki>"(In) this episode, you could see that there was really something behind it. That Kara really does have a destiny. That Kara really was fated for a particular end. And that mom was trying to prepare her for that. And prepare her for those roles, on some level, even if she couldn't quite articulate why and what she was doing to her daughter, that her mother believed and had seen oracles and had felt that Kara was special, and that out of her desire to toughen her daughter and make her daughter strong enough to take on the challenges that she was gonna face one day, she had really stepped over the line and had abused the daughter and had created this really toxic relationship between mother and child."</blockquote></div>

Socrata Thrace's use of [[oracle]]s strongly support the connection between Thrace and the Lords of Kobol.

==The Aurora Connection==
When Thrace visits the oracle [[Yolanda Brenn]], the pilot finds a figurine of [[Aurora, Goddess of the Dawn|Aurora]], ostensibly a figure of worship in the Colonial faith, if not a Lord of Kobol itself. The oracle tells Thrace to keep the figure until Thrace realizes who should receive it. That person is [[William Adama|Admiral Adama]]. After Thrace's death, Adama places the Aurora figurine on his sailing ship model as a [[w:figurehead|figurehead]]. The figurehead on a ship given by Thrace may allude to a connection to the path to Earth through Thrace and her destiny, but little more can be determined by this aired information.

The most mysterious element towards the end of the episode involves the revelation by Thrace that the [[Virtual Leoben|Leoben in her vision]] is not in fact Leoben (nor does it claim to be). What or who the vision was that guided Thrace in the vision is unknown, but "Leoben's" presence with Thrace in her last moments before choosing to die reflects the "Flesh and Bone" line from an actual Leoben: "You have to deliver my soul unto God. Do it for me. It's your destiny, and mine." The "Leoben" claims to guide Thrace to what lies "between life and death". Thrace then reawakens in her cockpit, and finds herself rapidly losing altitude, endangering her Viper. After briefly saying goodbye to [[Lee Adama]], she intentionally lets her Viper drop below the critical altitude. Thrace sees a vision in a white light (viewers also see Thrace as a young girl) after which her Viper explodes.

In the [[Crossroads, Part II|Season 3 finale]], Kara Thrace's destiny as a possible [[w:Avatar|avatar]] of Aurora appears to gain support when she reappears in a pristine Viper Mark II, flying alongside and speaking with Lee Adama. The fact that Apollo spots Thrace's Viper on his DRADIS suggests that it is a physical object, not a hallucination or [[Virtual beings|other vision]]. The method of Kara Thrace's resurrection is unclear. The [[Podcast:Crossroads, Part II|podcast]] for this episode confirms that Thrace ''did'' die, and has returned— something that, prior to this episode, only a [[humanoid Cylon]] could do. The resurrected Thrace is ''not'' a [[virtual beings|virtual being]] <ref name="ign-sackhoff">{{cite_web|url=http://tv.ign.com/articles/797/797776p1.html|title=Katee Sackhoff Talks Battlestar and Bionic Woman|date=19 June 2007|accessdate=21 June 2007|last=Goldman|first=Eric|format=|language=}}</ref>.

==The Hybrids' Warnings==

===The Warning from the First Hybrid===

In the ending of "[[Razor]]", during the raid on the Cylon basestar, the Cylon [[First Hybrid|Hybrid]] tells [[Kendra Shaw]] that "all of this has happened before and will happen again" and that Kara Thrace "will lead the human race to its end. She is the herald of the [[:w:apocalypse|apocalypse]]. The harbinger of death. They must not follow her." Despite being unable to fully understand any importance of the Hybrid's warning, Shaw tries to warn Commander [[Lee Adama]] aboard ''Pegasus'', but Cylon jamming prevents Adama from receiving the full message.

===Return of Leoben Conoy and the message from the Hybrid===

While leading the ''[[Demetrius]]'' on a mission to find [[Earth]], [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] flies a [[Combat Air Patrol|CAP]] herself with [[Brendan Costanza|Hot Dog]] as her wingman. While in space they encounter a severly damaged [[Heavy Raider]] piloted by the [[Number Two]] copy that held her captive on [[New Caprica]] and is likely the same one from the ''[[Gemenon Traveler]]''. Thrace takes him prisoner and he tries to convince her to jump to his basestar to meet with the [[Hybrid]] and form a truce between the rebel Cylons and the Colonials. She ultimately agrees, but ends up in a power struggle for the ship that ends when [[Samuel Anders]] shoots [[Felix Gaeta]] in the leg. Thrace ends up taking a Raptor carrying herself, Leoben, Athena, Anders and Barolay to the baseship. There, Barolay is killed by a Six who is then killed by Natalie to appease the Colonials. Thrace meets with the Hybrid who leaves her with a cryptic message and who also tells her that she is the harbinger of death and will lead the human race to its end, echoing the words of the First Hybrid to [[Kendra Shaw]] before their deaths ([[Faith]]).

The "harbinger of death", spoken by Hybrids, may refer to Thrace's role in the chain of events which lead to the destruction of the [[Resurrection Hub]], rendering the humanoid Cylons mortal<ref>[[Podcast:Revelations]]</ref>.

Hybrids have historically shown to be able to sense or foretell momentous events for both Cylon and human characters<ref>The first Hybrid seen in the series tells [[Number Three]] and [[Gaius Baltar]] of the [[Eye of Jupiter]], sourcing nothing else save its own resources.</ref>. Colonials have similar individuals which have had the same ability and spoken to both Colonial and Cylon: [[oracle]]s.<ref>[[Dodona Selloi]] was in apparent communication with ''both'' Cylon and Colonial deities when speaking to a [[Number Three (Downloaded copy)|Number Three]] ([[Exodus, Part I]]).</ref>

In popular usage, the term "apocalypse" has incorrectly been used as a synonym for "armageddon", the end of the world through a great war between good and evil forces. The correct meaning of apocalypse is "[[w:Revelation|revelation]]", defined as an uncovering or disclosure via communication from a previously hidden or unknown divine source that could not be known apart from the very moment of the source's time of unveiling itself. The [[Hybrid utterances|babble of the Hybrid to Baltar]] also refers to the "five lights of the apocalypse," presumably the [[Final Five]] and/or the [[five priests]].

If this stricter definition of apocalypse/revelation is used, Thrace's destiny may lead to an encounter with the Lords of Kobol, the Cylon god, or another divine source -- an event that neither side may be prepared to do as of the conclusion of "[[Revelations]]", based on previous events where both Colonials and Cylons have denied the existence or divinity (and, in short, the validity) of the Lords of Kobol and/or the Cylon god.<ref>Examples include the cynicism of the Cylon [[Cavil]], Gaius Baltar and his agnosticism to both Cylon and Colonial faith, the Cylon majority's decision to [[boxing|box]] all Number Threes after one discovered the identities of the Final Five ([[Rapture]]), and Commander [[William Adama|Adama's]] resistance to [[Laura Roslin]] and her quest for the mythical [[Tomb of Athena]] ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]).</ref>

Starbuck finally fulfills her destiny in [[Daybreak, Part II]]: Lead the Fleet to a new home where human and Cylon can live in peace. She had previously learned that [[The Music|the song]] which activated four of the [[Final Five]] Cylons was in fact a song which her father had taught her when she was a child. In an attempt to make sense of the song, she tried assigning numbers to the notes and performing mathematical calculations on them, to no avail. At the conclusion of the [[Battle of The Colony]], as the Cylon ''[[The Colony|Colony]]'' and the battlestar ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' were falling towards the event horizon of a black hole, Thrace was ordered by [[William Adama]] to jump ''Galactica''. As she did not know the rendezvous coordinates for [[The Fleet (RDM)|the Fleet]], she input the numbers as a set of FTL coordinants and jumped the ''Galactica'' there. The ship ended up in orbit over the moon of a habitable planet. It was on this planet, which the Colonials christened [[Earth#A New Earth|Earth]], that the remnants of humans and Cylons lived, abandoning their advanced technology and living with the [[w:Australopithecus|australopithecine]] natives of this second Earth. Shortly after settlement began, Starbuck declared to [[Lee Adama]] that her journey was now over, and disappeared, apparently some kind of angel sent back from the dead to finish guiding the Fleet home.

[[Image:Earth (RDM).jpg|thumb|right|300px|The second Earth seen from space in "[[Crossroads, Part II]]".]]

'''Earth''' is the believed destination of the [[Thirteenth Tribe (RDM)|Thirteenth Tribe]] of [[Kobol (RDM)|Kobol]], as attested in the [[Sacred Scrolls]]. Its existence was more myth and legend than reality to the modern world of the [[Twelve Colonies of Kobol]].

Earth, in the course of events, was actually not one but ''two'' planets. The first was a planet which was not only destroyed by a nuclear holocaust thousands of years ago, but was entirely populated by a type of [[Final Five|humanoid Cylon]]. The second Earth is a lush, habitable world already filled with bands of primitive humanity. The [[Fleet (RDM)|fleet]] was led to both Earths by [[Kara Thrace]]. It is on the second Earth that the beleaguered inhabitants of the Fleet find their new permanent home, leaving their ships (and technology) all behind.

==A Cause for Hope==
Earth is first mentioned by Commander [[William Adama|Adama]] during a speech after the battlestar's funeral services after escaping from [[Ragnar Anchorage]]. Adama claims that Earth was a top military secret that can now be revealed (see [[Miniseries]]).

In a private conversation with new President [[Laura Roslin]] immediately afterward, Adama admits that he has not the slightest idea where Earth may be, if it exists. His true motivation was inspirational; he intended to bolster the morale of the population (especially his beleaguered crew) in the aftermath of the [[Cylon attack|near-annihilation]] of humanity.

==Tangible Faith==
While she is initially skeptical, rebuking Adama for his dishonesty, Laura Roslin's faith grows perceptibly throughout the first season. Her use of [[chamalla]] to treat her cancer causes vivid dreams and hallucinations. Roslin increasingly interprets these as prophetic visions, especially after the Fleet accidentally discovers the legendary homeworld [[Kobol (RDM)|Kobol]] ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]).

Eventually, a [[Arrow of Apollo|religious artifact]] is recovered which later aids in revealing the general location of Earth ([[Home, Part II]]).

In the activated [[Tomb of Athena]], the stars of the Twelve Colonies are represented in the twelve [[Wikipedia:Zodiac|Zodiacal]] constellations, as viewed from Earth, recognized by Roslin as the shapes of the original flags of the Twelve Colonies. The chamber itself was intended by its builders to be a stylized replica of the night sky of the Earth, from which all twelve constellations could be seen. This is corroborated by [[Kara Thrace]], who quotes [[Sacred Scrolls|scripture]], saying that Earth was the place where the people of the Thirteenth Tribe could look up into the sky and see their twelve brothers.<ref>Some viewers may question how information on Earth's location could be recorded in the Tomb before the Thirteenth Tribe left for Earth. Had the tribes already visited Earth? Did the tribes ''originate'' from Earth? For more information on the circular origins of humanity as it pertains to the Re-imagined Series, see the article on the [[Sacred Scrolls]].</ref>

Morerover, [[Lee Adama]] recognizes the [[Wikipedia:Lagoon Nebula|Lagoon Nebula]], also represented in the night sky of the mystery chamber. This astronomical object is known to Fleet personnel, since [[William Adama|Commander Adama]] remarks that this celestial body would take some time to reach.

==More Clues to Earth==
Over a year later, the Fleet discovers a derelict [[Basestar (RDM)|Cylon baseship]] near the [[Lion's Head Nebula]], a celestial marker revealed by [[Felix Gaeta]] to Admiral Adama and President Roslin ([[Torn]]). The information is derived from [[Gaius Baltar]]'s research on the path to Earth. The derelict basestar finds an [[Lion's Head beacon|ancient beacon]] left by the Thirteenth Tribe. While a Colonial boarding party finds the probe, it also learns that the [[Humanoid Cylon]]s aboard the basestar are dead or dying, suggesting a deadly pathogen was released by the beacon. In their haste to leave and for the safety of the Fleet, the beacon is abandoned on the basestar, where it is destroyed when the basestar self-destructs ([[A Measure of Salvation]]).

After the Fleet must gather needed foodstuffs from the [[algae planet]], believed previously uninhabited by humans, [[Galen Tyrol]] senses and finds the [[Temple of Five]], an ancient [[temple]] built by the Thirteenth Tribe, as told in the [[Sacred Scrolls]], apparently built during a stopover on this world. Believed to be hidden inside the Temple of Five is the [[Eye of Jupiter]], an artifact that may provide more clues to the location of Earth. However, a Cylon force arrives with the same intentions on the Eye, leading to a standoff between Adama and the [[basestar command]] ([[The Eye of Jupiter]]). The Eye is later revealed to be the algae planet's own star as it began to nova, taking the form of the circular starburst patterns throughout the Temple of Five. While the Colonials are not privy to the special holograph feature of the Temple that the Cylons witness in the early moments of the nova, the Colonials are later are able to discern the information of the new nova as a waypoint to the next marker, a nebula in the [[Ionian system]] ([[Rapture]]).

When the Fleet arrives at the nebula, it is intercepted by four basestars. Unable to escape due to a mysterious, crippling Fleet-wide power outage, ''Galactica'' is forced to prepare for attack and launches Vipers and Raptors. [[Lee Adama|Apollo]] breaks off from the attack to track an "Unknown" contact on [[DRADIS]]. The contact is Captain [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]], miraculously [[Maelstrom|returned from the dead]] with news that she has been to Earth, knows its location and how to take the Fleet there.

The episode "[[Crossroads, Part II]]" concludes with a sweeping zoom from the Fleet, the Cylons, the Ionian nebula and to an arm of the [[W:Milky Way|Milky Way]] and to a zoom in to the second Earth, confirming that Earth is an actual location (from the perspective of the viewers), showing Earth's North American continent.<ref>The depiction of Earth includes a geographically accurate landmark: the Balize lobe of the [[w:Mississippi River Delta|Mississippi river delta]], a feature formed between the 16th and 20th Centuries of the real-world Earth. However, in [[Daybreak, Part II]] it was shown that the series was set circa 148,000 BC. This is most likely an error in graphic effects.</ref>

According to the [[Hybrid]], the [[Final Five]] are from the "home of the 13th," generally interpreted as the first Earth ([[Faith]]). This matches statements made in the "[[The Eye of Jupiter]]" claiming that the Temple of Five was built by people from the thirteenth tribe.

===Starbuck's Visit===
[[Image:Kara Thrace Reconnaissance Photos.png|thumb|right|200px|Starbuck's guncam photo of Earth.]]
Starbuck claims she visited Earth in her Viper, a trip lasting 6 hours according to her Viper's clock but months having passed in the Fleet. She is unaware of how she got to and from Earth in a Viper with no FTL capability. She describes Earth as having blue seas and white clouds, and took a variety of photos from her Viper. She also describes a "yellow moon and star" matching the descriptions by Pythia. Her photos have star patterns matching the zodiacs seen in the [[Tomb of Athena]]. On the return trip, she describes seeing a ringed gas giant planet, a "flashing triple star" and a comet. This turns out to be a vision of a burning basestar (the comet) around a gas giant at the site of a [[Cylon Civil War]] battle ([[Faith]]).

After the Fleet leaves the Ionian Nebula, Thrace feels pain with each jump and is overcome by a strong sense that the Fleet is going the wrong way ([[He That Believeth In Me]]). She confronts President Roslin, the only person she reckons can persuade the Admiral to change course, with a pistol in his quarters, which gets her thrown in the [[brig]]. She is later released to take command of the ''[[Demetrius]]'' on a mission to find Earth ([[Six of One]]).

== Arrival and Ruins ==
[[Image:Ruinedcity.jpg|200px|right|thumb|The ruined city found by the landing party.]]
After being informed by [[Samuel Anders|Anders]] and [[Galen Tyrol|Tyrol]] that something about [[Starbuck's Viper|her Viper]] is different, Starbuck climbs in the cockpit and powers up the electronics, detecting what appears to be a Colonial emergency locator signal, which only the Viper can receive. After determining that it is likely a bearing to Earth, the Fleet plots a jump and arrives in the planet's orbit, leading to ecstatic jubilation throughout the Fleet.

However, the happiness is short-lived when a combined human-Cylon team lands on the planet and arrives at a shore, overlooking a destroyed city. Moreover, Geiger counters detect radioactivity, indicating the city — and possibly the whole planet — suffered a nuclear catastrophe ([[Revelations]]).

The ruins are "thousands of years old." ([[Battlestar Galactica: The Top 10 Things You Need to Know]]).

Further scans on the planet reveal that the planet suffered a nuclear holocaust of some kind about 2,000 years before. There was still low-level radiation in the ground and water from the disaster and it is unsafe for living on even after so long. Further investigation reveals the truth about the inhabitants of the planet: they weren't human, they were Cylon, all of them. Among them lived the Final Five who have no memory of this and only realized this as they got small flashes (mostly of their deaths) while among the ruins. Ultimately the decision is made to abandon Earth as it is apparently uninhabitable and look for a new planet that supports life. Also on the surface is found the remains of a crashed Viper and apparently the dead body of Kara Thrace which is as of yet unexplained. ([[Sometimes a Great Notion]]) It is implied by Anders in ([[No Exit]]) that the Centurions on Earth did kill their masters. When he describes when the Final Five finally reached the colonies, Anders says, "It happened again!"

==A New Earth==

During a cataclysmic battle in which the Cylon [[The Colony|Colony]] is destroyed, Kara Thrace jumps ''Galactica'' into the vicinity of a habitable planet, already populated by a rich diversity of wildlife and by primitive humans that evolved independently from those on Kobol. The Fleet is given coordinates to this planet by a Raptor from ''Galactica'' at the scheduled rendezvous, and jumps into the system to settle the planet.

The people of the Fleet decide to abandon their technology in an attempt to avoid repeating the cycle of destruction and rebirth, and the planet is named after the original Earth. ''Galactica'' and the rest of her Fleet are destroyed by being flown into the system's Sun by [[Samuel Anders]]. The [[Two]]s, [[Six]]es and [[Eight]]s decide to live on the new Earth as well and give their [[Rebel basestar|basestar]] to their [[Cylon Centurions|Centurions]] so that they, too, can have freedom and find their own destiny.

Over 150,000 years later, Earth is home to a technically advanced civilization. (They are all, of course, of native human, Colonial human, and humanoid Cylon descent, but knowledge of this extraterrestrial seeding does not exist). Its people on the verge of major breakthroughs in robotics again.

The fossilized remains of [[Hera Agathon]] have been recovered from the land of Tanzania by archaeologists from the Smithsonian Institute in the city of Washington, who have identified her as the "Mitochondrial Eve", the most recent common ancestor of all living humans in the direct maternal line ([[Daybreak, Part II]]).

Admiral Adama said that the new Earth was a million light years from the Colonies. Whether he was just exaggerating, guessing or really knew that is unknown.

== Official Statements ==

* ''[[Edward James Olmos]] jokingly describes how he thinks the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] could find Earth:''

:I personally — this is not [from] any of the writers, but my thing — I wanted to come into [the present day], find Earth, cruise on top of it, see it for what it is, and as we're coming down to it, we're blown up, we're nuked.
[[Hybrid]]s, the central computer of a [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] [[Basestar (RDM)|baseship]], appear to constantly '''utter incoherent phrases and thoughts''', punctuated by what seem to be computer or system observations, results, or instructions of the basestar's operation.<ref>The behavior of speaking with little pause in an incoherent fashion is a condition known as [[w:Logorrhoea|logorrhoea]], and is generally considered a type of illness in humans. This differs from [[w:glossolalia|glossolalia]]: constant nonsensical speech, and [[w:xenoglossy|xenoglossy]]: speaking in a language not ordinarily known by the speaker. Glossolalia is also known as "speaking in tongues." While the Hybrid speaks the same common language as the humanoid Cylons and Colonials, the content of her speech contacts religious and prophetic messages related to the series storylines as classic glossolalia is claimed to exhibit.</ref> Despite their seemly nonsensical nature, they sometimes seem to relate to the wider world around them, perhaps with a prophetic nature. [[Number Two]]s believe that the Hybrid's words have religious significance.

[[Gaius Baltar]] and [[humanoid Cylon]]s are present when one Hybrid is speaking:

* Two protons expelled at each coupling site creates the mode of force, the embryo becomes a fish that we don't enter until a plate, we're here to experience evolve the little toe, atrophy, don't ask me how I'll be dead in a thousand light years, thank you, thank you. Genesis turns to its source, reduction occurs stepwise though the essence is all one. End of line. FTL system check, diagnostic functions within parameters repeats the harlequin the agony exquisite, the colors run the path of ashes, neuronal network run fifty-two percent of heat exchanger cross-collateralized with hyper-dimensional matrix, upper senses, repair ordered relay to zero zero zero zero. ([[Torn]])
* Mists of dreams drip along the nascent echo and love no more. End of line.
* The five lights of the apocalypse rising struggling towards the light, the sins revealed only to those who enter the temple only to the chosen one. (Staring at Baltar:) The chosen one. The chosen one. The chosen one. The chosen one.([[The Eye of Jupiter]])
** (alternate version: The Final Five revealed only to those who enter the temple only to the chosen one.)([[Rapture]])
* One degree angle nominal. Seascape portrait of the woman child cavern of the soul. Under pressure-heat ratio ides of evolutions have buried their fears.
* Gestalt therapy and escape clauses.
* Throughout history the nexus between man and machine has spun some of the most dramatic, compelling and entertaining fiction.<ref>This "[[w:Fourth wall|fourth wall]]" dialogue references the drama of man/machine conflicts in science fiction as seen in the ''Battlestar'' series' themselves as well as movies and novels such ''[[w:The Terminator|The Terminator]]'', ''[[w:I, Robot|I, Robot]]'' and ''[[w:The Matrix|The Matrix]]''.</ref>
* (Grasping Baltar) Intelligence. A mind that burns like a fire.
* Find the hand that lies in the shadow of the light. In the eye of the husband of the eye of the cow. ([[The Passage]]) <ref>These two lines are quoted in the music for "[[Rapture]]" as [[Music of Battlestar Galactica (RDM)#Temple of Five theme|theme for the Temple of Five]] and sung in Latin.</ref>

At least one Hybrid has spoken utterances that suggest a knowledge of the 'activation' of the [[Final Five]]:
* The excited state decays by vibrational relaxation into the first excited singlet state. Yes, yes and merrily we go. Reduce atmospheric nitrogen by 0.03%. It is not much consolation that society will pick up the bits, leaving us at eight modern where punishment, rather than interdiction, is paramount. Please, cut the fuse. They will not harm their own. End of line. Limiting diffusions to two dimensions increases the number of evolutionary jumps within the species. Rise and measure [[The Temple of Five|the temple of the five]]. Transformation is the goal. They will not harm their own. [[Data-font]] synchronization complete. ([[Six of One]])

===Rebel Hybrid===
[[Kara Thrace]] travels to the rebel basestar to hear their Hybrid, whom [[Leoben]] believes will guide her on her quest for earth. She finds little sense in its ramblings:
*Then shall the maidens rejoice at the dance.
*They'll start going ripe on us pretty soon.
*Centrifugal force reacts to the rotating frame of reference.
*The obstinate toy soldier becomes pliant.
*The city devours the land, the people devour the city...
*Intruders swarm like flame, like the whirlwind; Hopes soaring to slaughter all their best against our hulls.
*All these things at once and many more, not because it wishes harm, because it likes violent vibrations to change constantly.
*But you are a spark of God's fire.
*The children of the one reborn shall find their own country.
*Compartmentalize integrity conflicts with the obligation to provide access.
*No ceremonies are necessary.
*Contact is inevitable, leading to information bleed.
*Assume the relaxation length of photons in the sample atmosphere is constant.
Just as the Hybrid is being disconnected from its basestar she delivers one final, and unusually coherent, message to Thrace:
*Thus will it come to pass. A dying leader will know the truth of the [[Opera House]]. The missing [[Number Three|Three]] will give you the [[Final Five|Five]] who come from the home of the [[Earth (RDM)|Thirteenth]]. You are the harbinger of death, Kara Thrace. You will lead them all to their end. End of Line. ([[Faith]])
When President [[Laura Roslin|Roslin]] is informed of this message she goes to speak with the Hybrid ([[Guess What's Coming to Dinner?]]). She has little success talking to the Hybrid and does not get the answers she was expecting:
*Filters, Filters, the sublime elevation of the lifter and the filters
*The wing beat of the dove drown out the heartbeat of those who follow the [[Number Six|Six]] is back in the stream.
*The [[Natalie|Six]] who went among the maker is no longer.
*Back in the stream that feeds the ocean that feeds the stream.
*Such a format will close the door.
*[[D'anna Biers|The three]] is online.
*Protect the [[Hera Agathon|child]].
*To remove the pump with the attached hose and wiring, simultaneously release the three tangs while pulling the pump out of the retainer along with the line and wiring. ([[The Hub]])

== First Hybrid ==

The [[first Hybrid]] also says several prophetic phrases, although this Hybrid's behavior displays far more coherence, grammatically. The First Hybrid also shows self-awareness, speaking in complete sentences when addressing [[Kendra Shaw]] ([[Razor]]).

*At last, they’ve come for me. I feel their lives, their destinies spilling out before me. The denial of the one true path, played out on a world not their own, will end soon enough. Soon there will be [[Final Five|four, glorious in awakening]], struggling with the knowledge of their true selves. The pain of revelation bringing new clarity and in the midst of confusion, he will find her. Enemies brought together by impossible longing. Enemies now joined as one. The way forward at once unthinkable, yet inevitable. And the fifth, still in shadow, will claw toward the light, hungering for redemption that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering. I can see them all. [[Humanoid Cylon#Significant Seven|The seven]], [[Number Three|now]] [[Boxing|six]]<ref>At the time of this utterance, [[Number Three]] has not yet been [[Boxing|boxed]]</ref>, self-described machines who believe themselves without sin. But in time, it is sin that will consume them. They will know enmity, bitterness, the wrenching agony of the one splintering into many. And then, they will join at the promised land, gathered on the wings of an angel. Not an end, but a beginning.
*Come in Major. I've been waiting for you for a long time.
*What am I, a man? Or am I [a] machine? My children believe that I am God.
*I have seen[/can see] things. Your life, Kendra Shaw, the things you have done. The things you felt you had to do, all leading to this moment. You wish to be forgiven, my child. Do you wish to be forgiven? Then come closer, there's something i have to tell you. Come.
*[[Kara Thrace]] will lead the human race to its end. She is the herald of the apocalypse, the harbinger of death. They must not follow her.
*As my own/lone existence comes to a close, only to begin anew, in ways uncertain.
*All [of] this has happened before, and [it] will happen again...again...again...again...again...again...again...

==Samuel Anders==

[[Samuel Anders]] is left in a comatose state after a successful operation to remove a bullet from his brain, but his brain begins to show very unusual readings. Other humanoid Cylons hook him up to a Hybrid tank on ''Galactica'' in the hopes of helping him reboot, and he essentially becomes ''Galactica'''s Hybrid:
*The neuroanatomy of fear and faith share common afferent pathways flip a coin increased vascular pressure marks the threat response free will scuttles in the swamp of fear do not fear the word you are the harbinger of death Kara Thrace you will lead them all to their end end of line. New command resume function resume function resume function...
*A closed system lacks the ability to renew itself knowledge alone is a poor primer...
*End of line. Begin reintegration of command subroutines ... there's a hole in the bucket dear Liza dear Liza there's a hole in the bucket the long view returns patterns and repetitions all has happened before and will happen again...
*Spins and turns, angles and curves. The shape of dreams, half remembered. Slip the surly bonds of earth and touch the face of perfection - a perfect face, perfect lace. Find the perfect world for the end of Kara Thrace. End of line.

During the [[Battle of the Colony]], Anders is seen responding to commands by Senior Chief [[Galen Tyrol]], another of the [[Final Five]]:
*There are secrets within lies, answers within riddles. Lay off the ACS, you betcha Galen. Open your mind and hear what your heart wants to deny. End of line.

After the Fleet's discovery of [[Earth (RDM)|the second Earth]], Anders navigates [[The Fleet (RDM)|the Fleet]] into the planet's sun. When Anders' wife [[Kara Thrace]] says goodbye, he simply responds, "See you on the other side."

==Rebel Hybrid's Message partialy deciphered==
Some of what the rebel hybrid has said has come to pass and has been revealed. What it said about the Dying Leader and the Opera House referes to Roslin and her visions but that has not been resolved yet. The truth behind what it said about Kara being the Harbinger of Death may refer to her part in the destruction of the Resurrection Hub but this too is unclear. However, the part about the Three leading them to the Five that come from the home of the Thirteenth is now clear and makes sense: D'Anna Biers saw the faces of the Final Five in the Temple of Five. She is ultimatly unboxed and is able to lead them to four of the five with the identity of the fifth being discovered at Earth. It is learned that the Final Five in fact ''come'' from Earth as they were born there and the Thirteenth Tribe are Cylons who were apparently created on Kobol. They came to the Colonies to help us after they had their own nuclear holocaust and had their real memories blocked by Cavil and were placed among humans with no knowledge of their true identites. Many of the Rebel Hybrid's messages may also reference the Book of Jeremiah from the Old Testament. The book of Jeremiah deals with themes of Judaism vs Paganism, Prophets and prophecy, destruction of home, and a main character overwhelmed by his task - concurrent with many of the themes in the show.

== Galactica 1980 ==
*The opening narration was read by Lorne Greene:
:''The great ship [[Galactica (1980)|Galactica]], our home for these many years. We have endured the wilderness of space. And now we are near the end of our journey. We have at last found [[Earth (1980)|Earth]].''

== Re-imagined Series ==

The Re-imagined Series opening credits are similar in form to its predecessor:

*A prologue is shown with title cards saying "The Cylons were created by man. They rebelled. They evolved. There are many copies. And they have a plan."
**In Season 1 this also includes several cards saying "They look and feel human. Some are programmed to think they are human." because of the emphasis on Boomer as a sleeper agent.
**The first half of Season 4, from "[[He That Believeth in Me]]" through "[[Sometimes a Great Notion]]," is different with the title cards saying "Twelve Cylon models. Seven are known. Four live in secret. One will be revealed." This prologue did not appear in "[[A Disquiet Follows My Soul]]," "[[The Oath]]," or "[[Blood on the Scales]]."
**In "[[No Exit]]," a completely different prologue appears, stating: "This has all happened before, and it will happen again. The Cylons were created by man. [[Cylon War|They rebelled]]. Then they vanished. Forty years later [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|they came back]]. They evolved. [[Survivor count|50,298 human survivors]] hunted by the Cylons. Eleven models are known. [[Ellen Tigh|One]] was sacrificed."
*The series title appears, with a voice over by one of the series' actors: "Previously on ''Battlestar Galactica''...". This voice changes from episode to episode.
*A brief series of past scenes appear from previous episodes to impart important past events to new viewers
**On occasions these flashbacks have been edited, or [[List of Deleted Scenes (RDM)|deleted scenes]] (such as [[Kara Thrace]]'s initially-failing argument to [[William Adama|Adama]] and [[Laura Roslin|Roslin]] to rescue [[Samuel Anders]] and the [[Caprica Resistance]] in "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I]]") are included, for additional context.
*The episode begins with a teaser prologue often showing a pending crisis.
*The credits quickly show [[Caprica City]], ''[[Galactica]]'' and the start of the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]] with the nuclear bombing of Caprica, and the [[Case Orange|swearing-in]] of Laura Roslin on board ''[[Colonial One]]''. During this sequence, the main actors' names are shown.
*The civilian [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] is shown with ''Galactica'' within it.
*The [[survivor count]] is typically shown from Season 2 onwards with the words "... survivors in search for a home. Called Earth."
*The credits conclude with a short (approximately 10-15 seconds) sequence of flashes of scenes from the upcoming episode. This is overlayed with fast-paced music, culminating at a crescendo. At the end the [[Colonial seal]] is displayed in Season 1 and the normal ''Battlestar Galactica'' logo from Season 2 on.
**This part is missing at the beginning of Season 2, but returns in "[[The Farm]]".
*After the commercial, the episode begins, with the names of guest stars being shown.

=== Notes ===
[[Image:Enterprise in fleet.jpg|right|thumb|The [[MemoryAlpha:USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)|USS ''Enterprise'' (NCC-1701)]] tucked away in the background behind the ''[[Space Park]]''. Lower Right: Magnified and enhanced.]]
*The [[MemoryAlpha:USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)|USS Enterprise]] from ''[[MemoryAlpha:Star Trek: The Original Series|Star Trek]]'' can be seen as part of the Fleet in the opening credits, comically inserted by [[Zoic]] in the Miniseries.
*Each season's credits includes some different scenes to reflect the ongoing story line.
*The first four [[Season 3]] episodes are markedly different. Changes include an alternative sequence of scenes involving the captives on [[New Caprica]], the remains of the spaceborne Fleet that escapes with ''Galactica'', and a missing survivor count. Instead of the survivor count, the words "The human race. Far from home. Fighting for survival." are displayed. The opening credits return to their previous conventions (albeit with changed scenes) by the episode "[[Collaborators]]".
*Because [[Kara Thrace]] "died" in "[[Maelstrom]]", [[Katee Sackhoff]]'s name is omitted from the title credits for the remainder of the season.
*In the last two episodes of Season 3, "[[Crossroads, Part I]]" and [[Crossroads, Part II|Part II]], the "Previously on..." voice over and the main credits were cut due to time constraints.
