There's a minor issue with the gallery feature in this skin. As seen by [[Viper (TOS)#Related images]], the bottom cell in the second column isn't filled to the bottom like the other two that flank it. When I looked at the announcement for the new Razor previews here on Battlestar Wiki, naturally I was excited.. So when I went to check them out on YouTube, I found that there were not two new videos, but three (or at least, that's how it seems to be)..

:Yeah, that one is specifically to promote the Webisodes. Sure we can link to them all, but on the other hand we are not a news site. We document the show, but generally post only the most important stuff in the small news section. Or put something up when it hasn't been updated for a while. We often include information from news into spoiler articles as you see in the "Razor" or Season 4 articles, but you'll see that the latest "Razor" teasers aren't included in the episode article. I don't know how others feel about this, but I don't think it's really necessary. For our purpose, I think it's better to note stuff like the appearances of [[Kendra Shaw]], [[Gina]], [[Alastair Thorne]] or [[Jurgen Belzen]] than linking to the teasers for their own sake.

== Analysis ==
* Not having any real options for defending his actions during the Cylon occupation of New Caprica, Baltar has opted to use class warfare as a distraction from the real issues and to drum up support as a victim of "the aristocracy". His booklet appears to inspired by classic Marxist/Leninist rhetoric. Historically, such approaches to political change and power are most effective when conditions are unacceptable and dangerous for large numbers of workers.
* Adama's explanation and pending orders to execute Cally and the rest of the knuckledraggers to force Tyrol to call off the strike is reminiscent of the style of leadership found with Admiral Cain. However, once Tyrol relented and called off the strike, Adama immediately displayed his familiar style of leadership by informing Tyrol of his meeting with Roslin.
* This is the first time that an emergency cockpit ejection from a Raptor is shown during the series.
* Ever since her murder of Boomer and following detention and eventual release, Cally has displayed an attitude of disrespect towards the Fleet leadership, especially to Adama recently. Her recent demeanor and naive assumption that Adama would not do anything more than arrest the strikers may highlight a growing problem amongst the military workers that are beginning to dissent from the leadership.
* This episode, as well as "[[The Woman King]]" display an ongoing theme since Season 2 that focuses on how human beings are self-destructive by nature without any Cylon intervention. As was stated in "[[A Day In The Life]]", the Fleet hadn't encountered any Cylon forces for approximately 2 months. This state of complacency has allowed the typical in-fighting amongst the colonials to resume, especially with the depreciating state of quality of life amongst the ships in the fleet.

Colonel [[Saul Tigh]] informs Commander [[William Adama]] that Admiral [[Helena Cain]] has ordered the summary execution of Chief [[Galen Tyrol]] and Lieutenant [[Karl Agathon]] over the death of Lieutenant [[Alastair Thorne]]. On this news, feeling deceived that a genuine court martial would occur for his crewmen, Adama orders a [[Raptor]] (with [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]] escort) to board ''Pegasus'' to retrieve the men.

When Adama communicates to Cain of his intentions, Cain launches ''Peagsus''<nowiki>'</nowiki> full [[Viper Mark VII]] forces and orders [[Action Stations|Condition One]]. ''Galactica'' follows suit, launching her Vipers, led by [[Louanne Katraine|Kat]] and [[Brendan Constanza|Hotdog]] ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]).

Each side attempts to goad the other. Kat repeatedly requests permission for "[[weapons free]]" on the incoming Vipers. During this, each side plays a deadly game of "chicken," attempting to force the other to open fire. Under Colonial rules-of-engagement, the opposing side fired upon could return fire.

The fracas is interrupted by [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]] piloting the [[Blackbird]]. After then-Lieutenant [[Lee Adama]] text messages Starbuck over [[wireless]] aboard a ''Pegasus'' Raptor, her ship only showing up on [[DRADIS]] due to her reply transmission being detected. Both [[battlestar]]s and their respective Viper squadrons read the Blackbird as a Cylon (the Blackbird is either not equipped with a Colonial transponder or had disabled it for the unauthorized recon mission). The two opposing groups join forces to engage the "real" enemy, but Starbuck succeeds in confirming her identity before the Vipers fire upon the Blackbird.

A truce ensues after Cain receives recon photos of the Cylon "[[Resurrection Ship]]". Both commanders agree to bring their ships to [[Action Stations|Condition Two]] and meet on ''[[Colonial One]]'' to determine a course of action ([[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]).

The '''Skirmish over the Red Moon''' is a battle between eight [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Cylon Raiders]] that surprise a group of [[nugget]] [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]] pilots under instruction by Lt. [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]] in the orbit of an unnamed reddish moon orbiting a gas giant.

Starbuck orders the nuggets to return to ''Galactica'' while she engages all eight Raiders at once. However, Cadet [[Brendan Constanza|Hot Dog]] disobeys and follows her general order of always having a wingman.

Hot Dog succeeds in dividing the Raiders enough between the two Vipers long enough for Starbuck to shoot down six fighters. Hot Dog destroys one Raider (his first kill in a Viper) before suffering damage from incoming fire, pulling back from the engagement.

Starbuck destroys all but one Raider, and the two remaining fighters make a final run at each other.

Both the Raider and Starbuck's Viper exchange fire. The Raider's "pilot" is hit, but the ship remained intact. Starbuck's Viper experiences [[Computers#Avionics|electrical problems]] during the battle, which first causes her fighter's communications and transponder to go offline. Damage inflicted later by the Raider disables the Viper's flight controls.

Both fighters tumble out of control and fall into the [[Red Moon|red moon's]] gravity well. The Raider softly crash-lands onto the moon, but Starbuck must eject from her Viper after it goes into an uncontrollable [[Wikipedia:Spin (flight)|flat spin]] towards the moon's surface. ''Galactica'' recovers Hot Dog and his critically damaged Viper.

Starbuck lands by parachute on the moon, severely injuring her knee after being dragged by her parachute toward boulders and a cliff on the moon's surface.

With a broken [[wireless]] handset, she wanders on the moon looking for higher ground to await rescue. In her travels, she finds the crashed Cylon Raider she had fought earlier. Starbuck finds a way inside the Raider and discovers the bio-mechanical nature of the new generation of Raiders. Starbuck's attack of the Raider had left the "pilot" of the Raider shot in its "head," leaving it brain-dead.

Inside, Starbuck finds oxygen to stay alive after she exhausts her [[flight suit]]'s life support, and determines how to control the Raider by manipulating its internal organic actuators. Starbuck's strong flight instructor skills and [[Flight of the Phoenix|test-pilot savvy]] allows her to determine the basic mechanics of the new spacecraft quickly.

Starbuck repairs the damage she inflicted on the Raider by using a portion of her [[flight suit]] to seal the hole and repressurize the interior of the fighter. Starbuck flies the Raider off the moon and returns to ''Galactica'' once [[Lee Adama|Apollo]] successfully identifies her as the pilot of what would normally be an enemy target.

This is the first time Colonial forces are able to capture and examine the updated Cylon Raider. The '''Battle of Ragnar Anchorage''' is the successful breakthrough by [[Galactica type battlestar|battlestar]] ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' from a Cylon blockade around [[Ragnar Anchorage]], and subsequent escape from its armada after being tracked and attacked for 5 continuous days ([[Miniseries]], "[[33]]").

At the time, ''Galactica'' was considered to be the last [[Pegasus (RDM)|known]] surviving capital ship able to mount a counterattack against the [[Cylons (RDM)|new Cylon menace]] after the devastating attack that lead to the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]].

After getting telemetry that many battlestars, including flagship battlestar ''[[Atlantia (RDM)|Atlantia]]'' are destroyed, Commander [[William Adama]] assumes field command of the [[Colonial Fleet (RDM)|Colonial Fleet]] and orders any surviving units to rendezvous with his ship at a remote munitions depot, [[Ragnar Anchorage]], for a planned counterattack.

Orbiting within the tenuous upper atmosphere of the gas giant [[Ragnar]], the ammunition station holds critical ordnance needed by ''Galactica'', which had destroyed its own munitions earlier as part of its scheduled decommissioning<ref>The destruction of the battlestar's munitions occurs in a [[List of Deleted Scenes (RDM)#Miniseries|deleted scene]] of the Miniseries.</ref>.

The depot's location also offers effective cover against Cylon attack, as a particular form of electromagnetic radiation generated by the planet's upper atmosphere causes interference or damage to [[Silica pathways|Cylon technology]] with sufficient exposure, and also jams any [[DRADIS]] detection, making attacking within the cloud threshold problematic at best.

''Galactica'' is later joined by a convoy of faster-than-light capable civilian ships rescued from throughout the spacelanes near [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Caprica|Caprica]] by new President [[Laura Roslin]].

Despite the overwhelming odds, Commander [[William Adama|Adama]] intends to proceed with a counter-offensive. However, after persuasion by Roslin, Adama realizes that the ship is in a no-win situation: the Colonies are destroyed, ''Galactica'' is massively outnumbered, the human race is near extinction, and he is surrounded by nearly 50,000 of its only known survivors.

Lieutenant [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]] discovers at least two Cylon [[Basestar (RDM)|basestars]] and their fighters outside of the cloud during a reconnaissance mission, further decreasing the battlestar's odds in any offensive plans.

Adama decides to take the new [[The Fleet (RDM)|rag-tag fleet]] away from the home solar system of the Twelve Colonies<ref>In the [[Re-imagined Series]], the home solar system of the Twelve Colonies is not named. With an avoidance of attack made impossible since an [[FTL]] jump within the cloud would likely distort the FTL calculations with fatal results, ''Galactica'' leaves the Anchorage and positions itself at Ragnar's storm's threshold, orienting itself as a shield for the remainder of the Fleet to safely jump from behind the battlestar and to their new coordinates. With her weapons now fully armed, ''Galactica'' creates a defense perimeter against two basestars while her Vipers engage any [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Cylon Raiders]] that attempt to move around ''Galactica'' and to her fleet. A third basestar soon appears to pummel ''Galactica'' with successive missiles.

Once the last civilian ship is away and the last of the Vipers return to the [[flight pod]], ''Galactica'' jumps away to escape the onslaught. The Cylons enter the station shortly after the battle, and retrieve a suspected [[Cylon agent]] left there by the Colonials, a [[Number Five]] copy posing as a man named [[Aaron Doral]].

After the battle ends at Ragnar, approximately one day later, the Cylons continue tracking and pursuing the remnant of the Colonial Fleet, appearing every 33 minutes for five consecutive days and over 240 jumps.
A passenger liner, the ''[[Olympic Carrier]]'', fails to join the Fleet after the last jump. However, the Cylons don't appear in the next 33-minute interval.

When the ''Olympic Carrier'' reappears a short time later, a suspicious Commander Adama commands the 33-minute countdown to resume immediately. Adama's fears about the vessel are confirmed when the Cylons appear 33 minutes after its return, indicating it was used to track the Fleet throughout that time.

When ''Galactica'' detects a [[Radiological Alarm|radiological signature]] from the ''Olympic Carrier'', suggesting it was boarded by Cylons and now carries a nuclear warhead, Vipers are dispatched to destroy the the ship.

After the Fleet jumps once more, the Cylons can no longer immediately track their movements ([[33]]).

*[[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]] flies from ''[[Galactica]]'' to the harvest camp in a [[Raptor]], intentionally creating more noise than usual. [[Lee Adama]] is managing the harvest operations with his wife, [[Anastasia Dualla]].
*When Major Adama leaves to greet Kara Thrace, Dualla's face barely hides her disappointment and frustration at Adama's hasty departure.
*Major Adama greets Thrace with an admonishment of her piloting, but his comments are very brief; the two pilots embrace and passionately kiss.
*Adama wants he and Thrace to stop hiding their feelings and divorce their respective spouses. Thrace reminds him that marriage in the eyes of the [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies#The Lords of Kobol|gods]] is a sacrament; she has made a vow she will not break. Adama reminds her that their repeated secret encounters would be frowned on by the gods as well. Adama becomes frustrated, Thrace holds her position, and the two are left trapped in their feelings.
*On a [[Basestar (RDM)|basestar]], the little human/Cylon hybrid, [[Hera]], is crying and is not well. [[Gaius Baltar]] is awakened by her cries and visits the child, who is attended by the [[Number Eight]] known once as [[Sharon Valerii]].
*[[Galen Tyrol]] is part of the harvest team. He is repeatedly distracted by something which apparently only he can sense, and keeps looking out towards the unexplored hills beyond the harvest site. [[Samuel Anders]], also working on the harvest, comments that the algae harvest tastes as badly as it smells. Tyrol jokes that the algae is "breakfast, lunch and dinner until we can find a hot-fudge planet."
*After sensing something strange one time too many, Tyrol leaves the harvest camp and begins a trek to a mountainous area. He discovers a door--not a naturally-carved one, but a rectangular door, apparently constructed by human hands.
*Tyrol enters the door and walks through a passageway into an immensely large domed room, carved from within the mountain. In the center of the room is a center spire that reaches high into the structure. The spire is surrounded by five pentagonal obelisks. The center spire has ancient tribal carvings at the bottom, as well as illuminated crystalline pillars atop it. Tyrol, the son of a [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies#The Clergy|priest]] and an [[oracle]], has a fair idea of what he has discovered: The [[Temple of Five]].

*Carbon dating of the temple indicates that is is approximately 4000 years old, which matches when the 13th colony left [[Kobol]] in search of Earth.
*[[Laura Roslin]] discusses what she knows with Tyrol over [[wireless]] about this special [[Temple|temple]] as it is told in the [[Sacred Scrolls]] in Admiral [[William Adama]]'s quarters. But before they can digest the information further, they are alerted to four [[Basestar (RDM)|basestars]] that [[FTL|jump]] into orbit of the planet and move towards the Fleet.
*Admiral Adama orders the civilian Fleet to escape to [[emergency jump coordinates]], but leaves ''[[Galactica]]'' behind; Adama does not want to repeat the situation on [[New Caprica]], where he retreated with the remains of the Fleet and abandoned the colonists there. Adama chooses to stay to protect his harvest team until they can escape. He and Roslin also agree that, if the Temple of Five has a marker to [[Earth]], they must not let the [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylons]] take it.
*However, very uncharacteristically, the Cylons do not attack. In fact, they request communications with Adama. The voice that Adama hears is not a welcome one: It is [[Gaius Baltar]]'s.
*The Cylons request a meeting on ''Galactica'' to discuss the [[Eye of Jupiter]]. The [[Number Three]] copy that Baltar calls [[D'Anna Biers|D'Anna]], a copy of [[Cavil]], Baltar, and the [[Number Eight]] copy once known as [[Sharon Valerii]] board the battlestar under heavy [[marine]] guard.
*The virtual [[Number Six]] in Baltar's mind warns him that, while he may feel like he has returned home, he cannot stay: The Colonials would "toss (him) into an airlock and have a party."
*On the way to the meeting, [[Sharon Agathon]] recognizes the Eight copy as the former "Boomer" Valerii. Colonel [[Saul Tigh]] denies her entry into the meeting. The two Eights are left outside the doorway, facing each other with mutual looks of contempt.
*The two sides meet. Baltar attempts to take the initiative in an attempt to serve as a mediator, but this infuriates Roslin so strongly that she leaves the meeting. Adama receives the Cylon's terms: Leave peacefully so that they can gather the [[Eye of Jupiter]], and they will not attack. Cavil, with a sardonic face, adds the surrender of Baltar to the terms as well, to the former president's and Three's shock, "to sweeten the pot."
*Boomer-Eight tells Sharon Agathon that Hera is alive, but unwell, on their basestar. Agathon refuses to believe her.
*Admiral Adama is not amused by the Cylon's deal. Close to Three's face, Adama states his terms: ''Galactica'' will lay waste to the whole continent, destroying the planet's treasures with his nuclear arsenal should the Cylons attempt to land on the planet. The two sides depart in a state of détente.

===Act 3===
*Admiral Adama manages to get an order to his son of the situation and to destroy the site if the Cylons invade before the Cylons jam all wireless communications.
*Major Adama instructs Samuel Anders to organize fireteams to defend against a probable Cylon incursion. Anders, also realizing what Adama has been doing with Thrace, is very angry and initially refuses to oblige until Thrace asks him to comply.
*[[Cally Tyrol|Cally]] and Galen Tyrol speak in the temple. He tells her of how he was annoyed at his parents and their worship. Cally sees reverence on his face, despite his general mood of disbelief.
*Lieutenant [[Felix Gaeta]] has conducted some scans of the star system of the algae planet. He warns that the sun of this system is in danger of becoming a supernova very soon. Gaeta, who normally is as secular as his commander, finds it very strange how the Cylons and Colonials arrive at this one place at this time just before the planet's imminent destruction. Adama notes that the "higher powers" at work appear to have a strange sense of humor.
*The [[basestar command]], with Baltar in attendance, discuss their plan to get the Eye. Cavil feels that annilihation of ''Galactica'' is the best option with the standoff (given that they are machines that can wait out humanity for years, or even millenia, and find Earth eventually).
*D'Anna, without consulting the other Cylons, has solely initiated the jamming of Colonial communications, and has already sent a [[Heavy Raider]] with a squad of [[Cylon Centurion|Centurions]] to the planet as the basestar fleet jumped in, successfully avoiding Colonial detection. This action confuses the others, particularly [[Caprica-Six]].
*D'Anna notes that, as soon as the Centurions recover the Eye, the other Cylons can destroy ''Galactica''.
*The Centurions on the planet are seen connecting additional materials to their back as they march away from their ship.

===Act 4===
*The Colonials, with Anders at the lead, plan out their defense on the planet. One team will manage ammunition distribution, another team will create [[tylium]] mines.
*As the harvest team-turned-point defense teams leave the tent, Major Adama compliments Anders for his honest, to-the-point direction to the group, indicating that Anders would make a good officer. Anders scoffs at Adama's compliment, inferring that he knows what Adama and Thrace have been doing. When Adama tries to object, Anders tells Adama not to insult his intelligence, as he is aware that Adama is not that only one that Thrace has enjoyed sexual company with.
*On the basestar, in the [[Hybrid]]'s room, D'Anna-Three is savoring the opportunity to see the faces of the final five [[Cylon agent]]s--"maybe the face of [[God]] himself." The Hybrid notes, in her quizzical manner, that the "five lights of the apocalypse" and the "sins" will be revealed only to the "chosen one," lifting her head and staring directly at Baltar as she says "the chosen one" repeatedly. D'Anna's eyes are closed and is not aware that the Hybrid is addressing Baltar.
*Caprica-Six enters and questions D'Anna's intentions. D'Anna dismisses their three-way relationship as she tells of her plan to leave with Baltar to discover the secrets of the Temple. Six is visibly hurt at being left behind.
*The planet team begin their final preparations, led by Dualla. With [[wireless]] jammed, she notes how hardwired observation points are to be created to warn of any Cylon advance, with Starbuck's Raptor taking point with directions to fly to the nearest observation point to relay any sightings. Thrace's annoyance at Dualla's precise direction leads to some catty replies by Thrace, which Dualla ignores.
*As the observation teams take their positions, Starbuck begins her recon flight. As she turns along a ravine, she spots the Centurion emplacement and is immediately fired upon by the Cylon's missile battery. Starbuck tries to evade and successfully manages to relay that she found Centurions before her Raptor is struck by a missile. With the controls on fire and visibility lost, Starbuck screams as she keeps her hands on the flight controls and fights for control of the Raptor. The [[Battle of the Algae Planet]] begins.
*As President Roslin explores what little is known about the Temple of Five from the Sacred Scrolls, Admiral Adama interrupts her, telling her of Boomer's return and asking if the story of Hera's faked death was true. Roslin admits the truth. When she tries to explain the reasons why, Adama abruptly leaves in anger.
*Adama tells the Agathons of Hera's discovery, and both are incensed. When Helo argues how painful it was for them and how Adama should know the pain of the moment, Adama reminds him that, unlike [[Zak Adama|his son]], their child is still alive, and that they should be grateful for that. Sharon Agathon glares at Adama and says she wants to see her child, inferring a greater intention.
*Major Adama reports to Anders that Starbuck's Raptor has gone down, but also tells him that a rescue mission is out of the question; they haven't enough manpower to rescue Thrace and defend their position.
*Six Heavy Raiders leave a basestar towards the planet.
*''Galactica'' sees the Heavy Raiders on [[DRADIS]] immediately. Tigh feels that this is a test to see if the Colonials are bluffing. Roslin believes that they were bluffing until Adama orders [[Hoshi]] to arm of a series of missile tubes, each containing a nuclear missile.
*As Anders argues for Thrace's rescue, Lee Adama explodes in defense of the mission, arguing the point that he has known and cared for Thrace for much longer than Anders, who tells Adama he is going after his wife. Adama's troops hold Anders at gunpoint.
*Unaware how events are escalating around and above him, Chief Tyrol illuminates the carved writings of the Temple with his flashlight and reads the inscriptions, trying to locate the actual resting place of the Eye. At one point, his flashlight's beam moves close to the target-shaped symbol in the center of the central spire.
*The basestar command detects the [[Radiological alarm|radiation signature]] of the missiles as ''Galactica'' targets the Temple.

== Analysis ==
*At least eighteen people perished as a result of navigating through the radiation field of the star cluster. Most of these casualties are likely the skeleton crews of the ''Adriatic'' and the ''Carina'' and one of them is [[Louanne Katraine|Kat]].
*This episode ends the debate whether [[William Adama|Admiral Adama]] knew about [[Laura Roslin|President Roslin]]'s secret plan to hide [[Hera]] ("[[Downloaded]]", "[[Exodus, Part I]]") -- he did not know.
*[[Caprica-Six]] and [[D'Anna Biers|D'Anna]]'s dialogue indicates that they have been intimate with each other as well as with [[Gaius Baltar|Baltar]].

Any thoughts on him acting as the Officer of the Watch? Personally, I doubt he stopped being Landing Signals Officer, and we also saw Helo sitting at the Dradis console in LDYB. *The final moments of "[[Precipice]]" are reshown as the captured detainees are being taken off the trucks. [[Cally Tyrol]] is freed, as the Centurions march up the hill. Tyrol continues to run as gunfire is heard. As the screen goes to black, the words "One Hour Earlier" are displayed.
*[[Galen Tyrol]] is frantically talking with [[Saul Tigh]] about a list of detainees he received from his [[Felix Gaeta|source]], Cally Tyrol is among the listed. Tigh snaps him back to his senses, noting that they can locate the people now that they cracked the Cylons' coordinate system.
*Chief Tyrol immediately gets to work, succesfully calculating the location of the execution, and gathers a team to rescue Cally and the others.

**The Cylons might want to minimize the trauma of downloading into a new body, although comments from Number Three to Cottle dispute this.
**Cottle is a physician, and has likely taken a vocational pledge to aid. Allowing a sentient being to die, regardless of their ideology, is breaching this oath through omission of action. He helped [[Sharon Agathon]] through her pregnancy for similar reasons.
***At least in TV drama, doctors in wartime have an affinity for helping everyone. There are plenty of [[Wikpedia:M*A*S*H (TV series)|M*A*S*H]] episodes that illustrate this.
*Where is "[[Download City]]"?
**It is possible that [[Seelix|Seelix's]] use of the phrase "Download City" is merely a euphemism for the download process the humanoid Cylon models go through.
**Download City may also be a reference to a downloading facility present on New Caprica.
***The Cylons would likely keep such a facility hidden to all humans on the planet, no matter what their relationship is to the Cylon occupation. The destruction by suicide or planted bomb of a download facility on New Caprica would spell real death for all agents there if Basestars aren't actually used for this purpose (this isn't likely, else the [[Resurrection Ship]] would not have been protected ''by'' Basestars).
*Is there any possibility at all that Adama wasn't aware of Roslin's plans for Hera?
**There are no direct indications that Adama is aware of Roslin's conspiracy regarding the baby. Given the positive changes in his relationship with Sharon Agathon, that seems to now be based on complete mutual trust, it is unlikely that he would keep such a profound secret from her, if he was aware of it.
**Additionally, Adama was quite direct with Helo regarding the plans to abort the child. Whatever his relationship with Sharon, it seems unlikely that Adama would rob Helo of his paternal rights in this way, particularly after Helo [[Epiphanies|brings up their respective fatherhood]].
**Dr. Cottle is a military officer and his actions would have to have been cleared through Adama. There may well be other reasons why Agathon wasn't told, including keeping the information from the Cylons in the event she was captured or downloaded.
***In military parlance, the president's authority supersedes that of an admiral, and a military officer does not need to report back to his commanding officer orders that originated from the president.
****However, Adama and Roslin agreed that ''all'' military matters rested with the Admiral, whereas Roslin was the civilian leader of the fleet. It stands to reason that Adama would have known.
*****That unofficial agreement was broken in "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]" and there is no indication that they have restored it.
**The expression on Adama's face during his conversation with Sharon Agathon in "[[Occupation]]" suggests that he is aware of the conspiracy regarding Hera.
***Said expression may also be a reference to his guilt over the whole situation with Sharon Agathon/Boomer/Number Eight in general, and not a specific reference to Hera.
*What other operations are the Cylons busy with elsewhere in the universe, that are straining their resources for their experiment on New Caprica (also referenced to by Ron Moore in his podcast)?

**It is very reasonable to assume that the carrying capacity of the ships approximates the number of people on the planet, since it is very resource-intensive to move people around in the ''Battlestar Galactica'' universe. The attrition suffered by the Colonials only improves this probability.
**Will the Colonials find time to also evacuate much of their critically-rationed supplies and equipment as well as themselves during the chaos of evacuation?
*Is Maya suspicious about Roslin's protectiveness of her and Isis?
**As mentioned in "[[Downloaded]]", Isis is said to have been a child given up by a senior ranking officer for political reasons. Maya may have been told that Isis, should she be captured, would make for a very valuable kidnapping asset, given her (supposed) parentage.
*What exactly has Caprica-Six given up for Gaius?
**To an extensive degree, Caprica is mistrusted by the other Cylons and while not thought to be a traitor per se, is probably considered a [[Wikipedia:Quisling|Quisling]]. This is what she may have meant.

== Analysis ==
* The [[Number Three]] that has been having dreams about Hera saw [[Sharon Agathon]] and was able to tell that she was the copy that had been left with Helo on Caprica. She may have deduced this from the fact that Sharon was taking the launch keys, or she may have been able to sense her identity somehow.
* Roslin's line about [[Hera]], "She may well be the shape of things to come", echoes similar lines by Six in "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]" and by Adama in "[[Valley of Darkness]]". "The Shape of Things to Come" is also the title of the orchestral music piece at the end of "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]".
*Anders seems to know, or at least suspect, what is so special about Maya's child.
*[[Caprica-Six]] has been [[Cylon rebirthing tank|redownloaded]] after her "death" in [[Precipice]]. She was not "boxed".
*The Cylons on New Caprica appear to not have any sort of attachment to the humans they rule as evidenced by their willingness to just nuke the colony if they can't make it work as desired. This conflicts with the decision that their earlier attempt at genocide was a mistake. This is additional evidence of fundamental contradictions and disconnects within the Cylon psyche that they are blind to. Based on their actions to date, skinjob behavior tends toward the sociopathic with the exception of Boomer, Sharon, and Caprica-Six.
*Baltar has become a suicidal drunk - his appearance has become slovenly and he appears to have given up on basic grooming. He is also having trouble performing the act of sex with Caprica-Six.
*The speech Admiral Adama gave to his crew is reminiscent of the choice given to Achilles by his mother before he left for Troy to do war. The option Achilles chose was to go to battle, and in doing so perform feats that allowed his name to live on through history. Adama states that his crew will receive similar immortality for their deeds, showing a common thread between the Colonies and the bronze age Hellenic culture their civilization is based upon.
**Bradley Thompson and David Weddle said that they have hardcover copies of ancient stories, like Homer's Iliad, and deliberately draw inspirations from them.

*The final moments of "[[Precipice]]" are reshown as the captured detainees are being taken off the trucks. [[Cally Tyrol]] is freed, as the Centurions march up the hill. Tyrol continues to run as gunfire is heard. As the screen goes to black, the words "One Hour Earlier" are displayed.
*[[Galen Tyrol]] is frantically talking with [[Saul Tigh]] about a list of detainees he received from his [[Felix Gaeta|source]], Cally Tyrol is among the listed. Tigh snaps him back to his senses, noting that they can locate the people now that they cracked the Cylons' coordinate system.

The destruction by suicide or planted bomb of a download facility on New Caprica would spell real death for all agents there if Basestars aren't actually used for this purpose (this isn't likely, else the [[Resurrection Ship]] would not have been protected ''by'' Basestars).
*Is there any possibility at all that Adama wasn't aware of Roslin's plans for Hera?
**There are no direct indications that Adama is aware of Roslin's conspiracy regarding the baby. Given the positive changes in his relationship with Sharon Agathon, that seems to now be based on complete mutual trust, it is unlikely that he would keep such a profound secret from her, if he was aware of it.
**Additionally, Adama was quite direct with Helo regarding the plans to abort the child. Whatever his relationship with Sharon, it seems unlikely that Adama would rob Helo of his paternal rights in this way, particularly after Helo [[Epiphanies|brings up their respective fatherhood]].
**Dr. Cottle is a military officer and his actions would have to have been cleared through Adama. There may well be other reasons why Agathon wasn't told, including keeping the information from the Cylons in the event she was captured or downloaded.
***In military parlance, the president's authority supersedes that of an admiral, and a military officer does not need to report back to his commanding officer orders that originated from the president.
****However, Adama and Roslin agreed that ''all'' military matters rested with the Admiral, whereas Roslin was the civilian leader of the fleet. It stands to reason that Adama would have known.

**It is very reasonable to assume that the carrying capacity of the ships approximates the number of people on the planet, since it is very resource-intensive to move people around in the ''Battlestar Galactica'' universe. The attrition suffered by the Colonials only improves this probability.
**Will the Colonials find time to also evacuate much of their critically-rationed supplies and equipment as well as themselves during the chaos of evacuation?
*Is Maya suspicious about Roslin's protectiveness of her and Isis?
**As mentioned in "[[Downloaded]]", Isis is said to have been a child given up by a senior ranking officer for political reasons. Maya may have been told that Isis, should she be captured, would make for a very valuable kidnapping asset, given her (supposed) parentage.
*What exactly has Caprica-Six given up for Gaius?
**To an extensive degree, Caprica is mistrusted by the other Cylons and while not thought to be a traitor per se, is probably considered a [[Wikipedia:Quisling|Quisling]]. This is what she may have meant.

== Analysis ==
* The [[Number Three]] that has been having dreams about Hera saw [[Sharon Agathon]] and was able to tell that she was the copy that had been left with Helo on Caprica. She may have deduced this from the fact that Sharon was taking the launch keys, or she may have been able to sense her identity somehow.
* Roslin's line about [[Hera]], "She may well be the shape of things to come", echoes similar lines by Six in "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]" and by Adama in "[[Valley of Darkness]]". "The Shape of Things to Come" is also the title of the orchestral music piece at the end of "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]".
*Anders seems to know, or at least suspect, what is so special about Maya's child.
*[[Caprica-Six]] has been [[Cylon rebirthing tank|redownloaded]] after her "death" in [[Precipice]]. She was not "boxed".
*The Cylons on New Caprica appear to not have any sort of attachment to the humans they rule as evidenced by their willingness to just nuke the colony if they can't make it work as desired. This conflicts with the decision that their earlier attempt at genocide was a mistake. This is additional evidence of fundamental contradictions and disconnects within the Cylon psyche that they are blind to. Based on their actions to date, skinjob behavior tends toward the sociopathic with the exception of Boomer, Sharon, and Caprica-Six.
*Baltar has become a suicidal drunk - his appearance has become slovenly and he appears to have given up on basic grooming. He is also having trouble performing the act of sex with Caprica-Six.
*The speech Admiral Adama gave to his crew is reminiscent of the choice given to Achilles by his mother before he left for Troy to do war. The option Achilles chose was to go to battle, and in doing so perform feats that allowed his name to live on through history. Adama states that his crew will receive similar immortality for their deeds, showing a common thread between the Colonies and the bronze age Hellenic culture their civilization is based upon.

*Three inquires with Dr. [[Cottle]], who is treating a Five wounded by a human attack, about Hera's alleged death.

*Roslin and Zarek seem to have reconciled their differences and become friends. Given Saul Tigh's feeling that Roslin will resume the Presidency once humanity has left [[New Caprica]], and that Zarek used to be Baltar's vice president, will he assume the mantle of vice president under Laura Roslin?
**Or, will Zarek claim the presidency by legal succession if Baltar is removed from office?
*A Cavil mentions that he has different sensations after each download. He suffers a slight headache after the first and, after the third, a sensation like a white hot poker inside his skull. Is there damage to the consciousness during each downloading and is there a point where after so many downloads the consciousness is destroyed or corrupted?
**In the podcast for this episode, [[Ronald D. Moore]] reveals that the intent of Cavil's description was to show that there is a "cost" associated with downloading.
***Although [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Cylon Raiders]] are not sentient to same degree as humanoid Cylons, [[Sharon Agathon]] describes a similar traumatizing after repeated deaths of the berserking Raider known as [[Scar (Raider)|Scar]].
*[[Number Three]] had commented in "[[Downloaded]]" on feeling refreshed like starting a new life when describing her download experience. [[Caprica-Six]] expressed adjustment issues, including her [[Cylon-Related Hallucinations|visions]] of Gaius Baltar.
*Are the [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies#The Lords of Kobol|Lords of Kobol]] real? Why are they sending accurate dreams to a Cylon? Why is a human oracle helping Three interpret the dreams?
**The gods are "real," at least as historical entities that lived on Kobol, a fact that even the Cylons acknowledge. The Cylons (and a number of Colonials) dispute their actual divinity. The Colonials appear to have some foresight from the gods through their [[oracle]]s. The connection of the Lords of Kobol to the Cylons is a curious (and unexplained) event in the case of the dreams of Number Three.
**The oracle stated that she received visions from all the gods, even the Cylon one.
*Why does Doctor Cottle work to heal critically injured Cylons instead of just letting them die and be resurrected?
**The Cylons might want to minimize the trauma of downloading into a new body, although comments from Number Three to Cottle dispute this.
**Cottle is a physician, and has likely taken a vocational pledge to aid. Allowing a sentient being to die, regardless of their ideology, is breaching this oath through omission of action. He helped [[Sharon Agathon]] through her pregnancy for similar reasons.
***At least in TV drama, doctors in wartime have an affinity for helping everyone. There are plenty of [[Wikpedia:M*A*S*H (TV series)|M*A*S*H]] episodes that illustrate this.
*Where is "[[Download City]]"?
**It is possible that [[Seelix|Seelix's]] use of the phrase "Download City" is merely a euphemism for the download process the humanoid Cylon models go through.
**Download City may also be a reference to a downloading facility present on New Caprica.
***The Cylons would likely keep such a facility hidden to all humans on the planet, no matter what their relationship is to the Cylon occupation. The destruction by suicide or planted bomb of a download facility on New Caprica would spell real death for all agents there if Basestars aren't actually used for this purpose (this isn't likely, else the [[Resurrection Ship]] would not have been protected ''by'' Basestars).
*Is there any possibility at all that Adama wasn't aware of Roslin's plans for Hera?
**There are no direct indications that Adama is aware of Roslin's conspiracy regarding the baby. Given the positive changes in his relationship with Sharon Agathon, that seems to now be based on complete mutual trust, it is unlikely that he would keep such a profound secret from her, if he was aware of it.
**Additionally, Adama was quite direct with Helo regarding the plans to abort the child. Whatever his relationship with Sharon, it seems unlikely that Adama would rob Helo of his paternal rights in this way, particularly after Helo [[Epiphanies|brings up their respective fatherhood]].
**Dr. Cottle is a military officer and his actions would have to have been cleared through Adama. There may well be other reasons why Agathon wasn't told, including keeping the information from the Cylons in the event she was captured or downloaded.
***In military parlance, the president's authority supersedes that of an admiral, and a military officer does not need to report back to his commanding officer orders that originated from the president.
****However, Adama and Roslin agreed that ''all'' military matters rested with the Admiral, whereas Roslin was the civilian leader of the fleet. It stands to reason that Adama would have known.
*****That unofficial agreement was broken in "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I]]" and there is no indication that they have restored it.
**The expression on Adama's face during his conversation with Sharon Agathon in "[[Occupation]]" suggests that he is aware of the conspiracy regarding Hera.
***Said expression may also be a reference to his guilt over the whole situation with Sharon Agathon/Boomer/Number Eight in general, and not a specific reference to Hera.

**It is very reasonable to assume that the carrying capacity of the ships approximates the number of people on the planet, since it is very resource-intensive to move people around in the ''Battlestar Galactica'' universe. The attrition suffered by the Colonials only improves this probability.
**Will the Colonials find time to also evacuate much of their critically-rationed supplies and equipment as well as themselves during the chaos of evacuation?
*Is Maya suspicious about Roslin's protectiveness of her and Isis?
**As mentioned in "[[Downloaded]]", Isis is said to have been a child given up by a senior ranking officer for political reasons. Maya may have been told that Isis, should she be captured, would make for a very valuable kidnapping asset, given her (supposed) parentage.
*What exactly has Caprica-Six given up for Gaius?
**To an extensive degree, Caprica is mistrusted by the other Cylons and while not thought to be a traitor per se, is probably considered a [[Wikipedia:Quisling|Quisling]]. This is what she may have meant.

== Analysis ==
* The [[Number Three]] that has been having dreams about Hera saw [[Sharon Agathon]] and was able to tell that she was the copy that had been left with Helo on Caprica. She may have deduced this from the fact that Sharon was taking the launch keys, or she may have been able to sense her identity somehow.
* Roslin's line about [[Hera]], "She may well be the shape of things to come", echoes similar lines by Six in "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]" and by Adama in "[[Valley of Darkness]]". "The Shape of Things to Come" is also the title of the orchestral music piece at the end of "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]".
*Anders seems to know, or at least suspect, what is so special about Maya's child.
*[[Caprica-Six]] has been [[Cylon rebirthing tank|redownloaded]] after her "death" in [[Precipice]]. She was not "boxed".
*The Cylons on New Caprica appear to not have any sort of attachment to the humans they rule as evidenced by their willingness to just nuke the colony if they can't make it work as desired. This conflicts with the decision that their earlier attempt at genocide was a mistake. This is additional evidence of fundamental contradictions and disconnects within the Cylon psyche that they are blind to. Based on their actions to date, skinjob behavior tends toward the sociopathic with the exception of Boomer, Sharon, and Caprica-Six.
*Baltar has become a suicidal drunk - his appearance has become slovenly and he appears to have given up on basic grooming. He is also having trouble performing the act of sex with Caprica-Six.
*The speech Admiral Adama gave to his crew is reminiscent of the choice given to Achilles by his mother before he left for Troy to do war. The option Achilles chose was to go to battle, and in doing so perform feats that allowed his name to live on through history. Adama states that crew will receive similar immortality for their deeds, showing a common thread between the Colonies and the bronze age Hellenic culture their civilization is based upon.

* There is also a comic called ''[[Exodus!]]'', which covers the events of [[Battlestar Galactica (TOS)|the Original Series]]' episode, "[[Saga of a Star World]]" (Part 2).
* This is the first episode where viewers have seen an [[oracle]]. Oracles such as [[Pythia]] and [[Galen Tyrol]]'s mother have been mentioned but not seen.

== Summary ==
*Baltar visits Roslin in her dentention cell to discuss the suicide-bombimgs, after which he releases her.
*Colonel Tigh is running the resistance effort, with Tyrol and Anders acting as his second in command officers.
*After sending Duck in on a suicide bomb run in an effort to kill Baltar, the Cylons begin a crackdown and round up random civilians.
*Gaeta continues to give information to the resistance, though Tyrol is unaware that Gaeta is his source inside the presidency. Tyrol calls Gaeta a collaborator.
*Every day a Raptor jumps in and listens for a wireless broadcast. With the list of jamming frequencies provided by Gaeta, Tyrol manages to contact the Colonial Fleet.
*Adama swears in Sharon as an officer and sends her down to New Caprica to help the resistance.
*Anders and a crew meets Sharon in a canyon outside of town after she jumps in inside the planetary atmosphere.
*Ellen Tigh, after being threatened with more harm to Colonel Tigh, gives the Cylons information on where the meeting is to take place. Sharon and Anders are ambushed by Cylon Centurions.
*The Cylons force Baltar to sign an execution order for 200 civilians, including Cally, Roslin and Zarek after another suicide bomber takes out the power plant. The detainees are transported outside the city.
*While stopping to ostensibly let the detainees stretch their legs, Jammer cuts Cally's bonds and tells her to run and not look back. Just as she gets away, Centurions show up to execute the detainees with Zarek pulling Roslyn away from the front of the crowd. As Cally runs through the forest, the sound of automatic gunfire rings out.

== Questions ==

*If [[Sharon Agathon]] is killed during her mission on [[New Caprica]], will she be able to download into a new body?
*Where will [[Cally]] be able to run to? She was ordered to face execution by the Colonial Government.
*Why did the Cylons abandon their plan for a public execution? More Importantly, if we are to assume that the gun fire at the end of the episode is not from the Centurions, who then?
**There is the possibility, however remote, that it was the New Caprica Police who opened fire on the Centurions. However, story-wise that might be a cop-out, and it is unlikely that the NCP would take such action, Jammer's release of Cally not withstanding.
**Another possibility is that the gunfire we heard is somehow coming from Sharon/Anders and their rescue team. Ofcourse they would've had to escape/defeat the ambush and somehow come upon the execution scene.
*What is the role of the five unseen Cylon models in the occupation? Are they present and simply remaining off-camera for the benefit of the audience? Have they attempted to hide themselves from the Colonials?
*[[Cally Henderson]] and [[Sharon Valerii (Caprica copy)]] both took their husbands' names upon marriage, as did [[Ellen Tigh]], [[Caroline Adama]] and [[Sesha Abinell]]. Are [[Anastasia Dualla]] and [[Kara Thrace]] now Anastasia Adama, and Kara Anders, respectively?
*What is the relationship between Caprica-Six's shooting and the reappearance of [[Cylon-Related_Hallucinations#Baltar.27s_Internal_Six |Baltar's Internal Six]]?
**It is possible that two events are not directly related. The reappearance was not immediate, but happened after Doral and Cavil continued to threaten Baltar with death. Since Caprica-Six's support was gone, Baltar was under severe stress and thought that he might likely die. Internal Six has shown a tendency to appear at those times, especially if Baltar's survival is at stake.
*Now that the Battlestar Sharon has landed on the surface of New Caprica, how can she be distingushed from other Sharons there?
**Other than her flight suit, it remains unclear how Galactica-Sharon will be distinguished from other Eights.

== Analysis ==
*We learn a little bit more about the nature of the various humanoid Cylons here. Apparently a single copy is usually qualified to speak for its entire model. Interestingly, [[Caprica-Six]] was unable to dissuade her "sisters" from voting to execute the dissidents.
*As one of the Cavils notes, adherence to the Cylon creed has become increasingly perfunctory. The Cylons sought the President's signature as a mere formality.
*If Leoben's story is true, [[Kacey]] can't be older than 16 months. As of this episode, it has been about 27 months since the fall of the colonies. Kara's incarceration at the [[Farms|Farm]] on Caprica took place about two months after the fall of the colonies.
*Even if Ellen's actions are as reprehensible as ever, her motivations this time around are rather more laudable. These two episodes seem to indicate that she truly does care for her husband.

== Notes ==
*"[[Occupation]]" and "Precipice" is edited as one 2-hr episode with only one intro. However, in the podcast, [[Ronald D. Moore]] indicates the "beginning" of "Precipice" as the scene with Baltar and Roslin in the detention cell.
*In the podcast, [[Ronald D. Moore]] states that references to "The Twist" and "The Swirl" are a homage to ''[[Wikipedia:Seinfeld |Seinfeld]]''. The episode in question is "The Fusille Jerry".
*Felix Gaeta's given name, first revealed in "[[Final Cut]]", is spoken out loud for the first time.
*Caprica-Sharon has married Karl Agathon and taken his last name. She continues to be confined to her cell, but it has been decorated and furnished. Ironically enough, she still calls him "Helo".
*Sharon Agathon and William Adama have continued to develop the rapport which they established in "[[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]". In this episode, he comissions her as a lieutenant and apparently releases her from her cell.
*Anders and Caprica-Sharon last saw each other at the end of "[[The Farm]]", although it's possible that they had a reunion after his rescue from Caprica and before his settlement on New Caprica.
*Number Three's claim that Caprica-Six's assault on her was the first case of Cylon-on-Cylon violence in their history is not really true. Sharon Agathon shot and "killed" another Eight outside the Delphi spaceport on Caprica. The Cylons may not look on this in the same light because it was within one model. Alternatively, Number Eight may have been unable to identify her shooter. This is plausible because she was looking at Helo when she was shot, and afterwards could only stare up into the sky for a few seconds before dying and presumably downloading.
**Actually, Sharon Agathon also shot a Six previous to that, but we may presume that Six consented as part of the Cylons' plan for Helo.
*Ironically, a Five shoots Caprica-Six in the head shortly after Three's statement. Cavil indicates, however, that she won't be "boxed", as Caprica feared in "[[Downloaded]]".
*The shooting of the captives and Cally's escape at the end of the episode are an homage to ''[[Wikipedia:The Great Escape|The Great Escape]]''.
*Baltar's Internal Six appears only after Caprica-Six is killed.
