Colonel Jen Kassia was Galactica's XO, stationed aboard the battlestar during the early days of the Cylon War. She was always looking out for the young Viper pilot, William Adama.

A tough, non-nonsense woman, Kassia had never known anything other than military life. She was born aboard the battleship Orion in Tauran space, with a hard childhood spent on the New Caprica colony. Her youth was marred by the capture of her lover Callisto during a Cylon raid, and the incident affected her deeply; Callisto’s body was taken for bio-mass processing in Cylon hybridization experiments and never recovered. Kassia’s harsh early life has gave her a personality that is reflected in her former callsign, ‘Hardcase’ – she lived for the here and now, mindful that during war, death is always lurking nearby. After the capture of her CO, Commander Magus, by Cylon forces, Kassia briefly assumed direct command of the Galactica.

Kassia looked on Adama with an uncommon degree of fondness, as a rookie Viper pilot in need of some guidance that she’s was happy to give – even if he wanted it or not. Kassia and Commander Magus were trusted friends as well as fellow officers.

Within the Video Game, three variants of Viper are available: the Mark I, which is designed to be an earlier version of the original series Viper; the Mark II, which is largely based on the Original Series Viper, and the Mark III, which is described as "superior to the Mark II in every respect". The Mark III is distinctive because of its two-seat cockpit and the lack of the characteristic dorsal fin common to most Viper designs. The Mark III is also known as the Strike Viper.

Re-imagined Raider
Overview
The Raider is the primary aerospace attack craft used by the Cylons. Two variants are know to have been developed:
* The Piloted Raider
* The Automated Raider

Piloted Raider
The piloted Raider was first encountered during the Cylon War (Miniseries).
The piloted raider is the same as the Original Series raider, see below.

Notes
* Within fan circles, when discussing the re-imagined series, it has been hypothesised that the original Raider was in fact a <i>Colonial</i> vehicle designed to be flown by a human crew. However, with the development of the Cylon Centurion, they were crudely adapted to be flown by Cylons. Thus, their use during the Cylon War prompted the development of the Colonial Viper. Currently, there is nothing that is canon to support this.

Autonomous Raider
The Autonomous Raider was first encountered more than 40 years after the Cylon War, when the Cylons launched their devastating surprise attack on the Twelve Colonies. It is the new model that has superceded the old piloted Raider.

The vehicle is substantially different to the piloted Raider, comprising a small fuselage mounted between two large forward-curved wings.

The autonomous Raider was initially thought to be wholly mechanical in design, with a high-level AI controlling it. However, following the recovery of a Raider that had been forced down onto a planetoid during a firefight with Lieutenant Kara Thrace (Act of Contrition), it was discovered the new Raider is, in fact, bio-mechanical in nature (You Can't Go Home Again), incorporating a number of large organs in its design, including an bio-mechanical brain.

Much like the Cylon agent models, the Raiders are capable of transferring their consciousness into new bodies after their death (Scar).

The autonomous Raider has a broad weapons capability:
* Conventional missiles carried in internal wing bays (Mini-Series)
* Nuclear missiles mounted on under-wing racks (Mini-Series)
* Two different caliber sets of twin kinetic energy weapon guns mounted under the leading edge of the wings (33 onwards)

During the Cylon attack, the new Raider was also capable of transmitting an electronic virus to any Colonial vessel utilising the Command Navigation Program (CNP). The CNP had been compromised prior to the attack, and provided a backdoor by which integrated systems aboard Colonial vessels could be rendered inoperable, rendering the ship defenseless (Mini-Series).

The new model of Cylon Raider is also equipped with a small-scale FTL drive system (Mini-Series). Following tests on the Raider captured by the Galactica, this FTL system was found to be far more capable than Colonial FTL systems. Estimates showed that the drive could carry the Raider from somewhere near the vicinity of Kobol back to Caprica in a single jump (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I).

Like the previous model of Raider, it is atmosphere-capable (You Can't Go Home Again).

Overall, the new Raider is an agile fighter craft, far more manoeuvrable than its piloted forebear, and able to match Colonial Vipers in combat.

Technical Specifications
Dimensions
*Length: (approx) 29.34ft (8.94m)
*Wingspan: (approx) 18.33ft (5.59m)
*Height: (approx) 5ft (1.52m)

Original Series Raider
The original series raider is the same as the piloted raider, seen in photo above.

The Cylon Raider is the primary fightercraft of the Cylons. Piloted by a crew of three, it was armed with two forward-firing kinetic energy weapons and could carry missiles in bays within the wings and on racks mounted beneath the wings.

Oval in shape, the piloted Raider had two sublight engines for propulsion, but probably did not incoporate FTL technology. On extended missions, Raiders have been known to be accompanied by fuel tanker escorts. This allows wings of Raiders to cross large areas of space (relatively speaking) at sublight speeds without the aid of a Basestar. This tactic is normally used on sneak attack missions, allowing Raider wings to slip past enemy defences undetected, whereas a Basestar would easily be spotted by enemy scanners. ("Saga of a Star World")

The vehicle was both space and atmosphere-capable.

Cylon Raider (Video Game)
Also known as the 'Standard Raider', this version of the Raider was the primary fightercraft of the Cylons in the Battlestar Galactica Video Game. It was similar in design to the Original Series Raider. Piloted by a single Cylon, it was armed with two forward-firing kinetic energy weapons. Several other Raider variants also exist in the video game continuity.
Sure, Peter. I wrote the script and story documentation for the Battlestar Galactica videogame and I'm drawing this information from material I produced for Vivendi Universal Games. Some of the information appears in the game in an edited form; I'm including material that also never made it into the final draft of the project.

Mr. Swallow, thank you for your additions to the video game character articles. Can you please provide details on the source of this information? Is it presented in the video game itself, or in other documents? If so, can you please cite them? --Peter Farago 21:43, 19 March 2006 (CST)
Sure, Paul. I wrote the script and story documentation for the Battlestar Galactica videogame and I'm drawing this information from material I produced for Vivendi Universal Games. Some of the information appears in the game in an edited form; I'm including material that also never made it into the final draft of the project.

The Battlestar Galactica video game was released in November 2003 (just before the Miniseries),

In the game, the player takes the part of Ensign William "Husker" Adama, and flies his Viper on missions against the Cylons, lead by Imperious Leader Lord Erebus, during the opening days of the Cylon War. The only other character from the shows to make an appearance is a young Garris Cain; however, using cheat codes, the original characters of Starbuck and Apollo can appear as your wingmen (and are even voiced by Original Series actors Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch, respectively).

Both the Galactica and Atlantia make an appearance; it is the former which the orphaned Adama lives on, having fallen in love with Iphigenia, the daughter of its commander, Magus.

Developer: Warthog Games (UK), on behalf of Vivendi Universal.<br>
Platforms: X-Box and Playstation 2

Note
The 2003 Video Game draws elements from items found in what was to become the "Re-imagined" (RDM) Series as well as elements familiar to the Original Series (TOS). Because of this and new elements, the Video Game creates a continuity that is generally separate from the TOS and RDM series. The game was designed to complement both the Original Series and the "Re-imagined" series; an earlier incarnation of the game developed but never produced in 2001 was based on the Singer / DeSanto continuation project.

*In the game, William Adama is romantically involved with a woman named Iphigenia. In the Original Series, his wife is named Ila.
*In the game, Adama has a full name, "William Adama." The Original Series character had no such name, but the same name (and callsign) are used for the character in the Re-imagined Series.
*Using a special cheat, the Original Series characters of Starbuck and Apollo are available as wingmen to the player character, Adama. This wholly contradicts the characterizations of both Original Series and Re-imagined Series, where Starbuck and Apollo are subordinates to Adama. Further, Adama is Apollo's father in the Original Series, so for young Adama to fly with his son of the same age (game cheat notwithstanding) is a temporal contradiction. An additional bonus mission for the game was scripted but never implemented in the final build; this mission would have featured the Original Series characters of Starbuck and Apollo traveling back into the past to prevent the death of the young Adama. Details of that mission, including the script, are available here.
The battlestar Galactica is the central ship in the video game "Battlestar Galactica", released in 2003 by Vivendi Universal Games.

The setting of this game depicts Galactica as a veteran battleship in a setting that makes it a "prequel" of the events of the Original Series and the Miniseries by approximately 35-45 years, but with significant differences to both.

The player takes on the role of "William Adama", a character that shares the name of his Re-imagined Series character, but whose history and continuity, and space fighter follows more of the Original Series. As such, the battlestar Galactica shown in the game seems mostly integrated in the Original Series continuity, but not fully.

The young Adama grows into leadership throughout the course of the game. Confirming Adama's growth is the character page of the Imperious Leader Erebus, which speaks of the young Adama in the game as the one that, according to "sacred prophesies," will "lead the last surviving humans to the location of the 13th tribe." If the game is taken as canonical, Galactica is eventually fully refitted to the status seen at the start of the Original Series, without alien technology needed to aid it. The age of the battlestar as stated in the game implies that Galactica has fought for at least half of the Thousand Yahren War.

The Galactica of this video game is predominantly based on that of the Original series, but with notable changes designed to reflect her 500-yahren service and the fact that she has had to rely on alien technology for upgrades and refits. Text from the game notes:

:"The Battlestar has been repaired often and parts of its structure are clearly newer or are made of stranger, alien materials. Parts of the huge engine nacelles are broken and partly scaffolded, the repairs half-complete, the exposed structures vast and skeletal."

Given the ship is based on the original, it is logical to assume her displacement, capabilities and dimensions mirror those of the Original Series Galactica, and its design.

Galacticas commanding officer in the game is Commander Magus and his executive officer is Colonel Jen Kassia; neither character is mentioned in the Original Series or the Miniseries.

Five battlestars are mentioned in the game:
*Battlestar Atlantia
*Battlestar Columbia
*Battlestar Galactica
*Battlestar Pegasus
*Battlestar Rycon

Notes
This game debuted in stores on November 18, 2003. The Miniseries of the Re-imagined adventures of a new Galactica premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel less than a month later, on December 8, 2003. Despite suggestions that this game was based more on elements from the defunct Singer/DeSanto revival project, it was in fact created to encompass elements of both the 1978 and 2003 shows. An earlier incarnation of the game based on the Singer/DeSanto project was scripted but never produced.

Galacticas commander in the game is Magus, a character not mentioned in the Original Series.

Bryn Magus was the commander of the battlestar Galactica, father of Iphigenia and Paulus, and a father-figure to Lt. William Adama. Some time prior to the Cylon War (as depicted in the game), Adama's father often saved Magus' life; when Adama was orphaned, Magus looked after the boy as part of his debt to the elder Adama, later welcoming him onboard Galactica when he graduated from flight school.

At the age of 55, Magus was an imposing character, a formidable man, a tactical genius to his troops, and a strong father-figure to pilots such as William Adama, and his two children, Paulus and Iphigenia. Magus owed his life to Adama’s father, who saved him several times when the two men were junior officers, and it is to his eternal regret that he couldn’t save his friend from the Cylons when they were both shot down; Magus subsequently spent a year as a prisoner-of-war on a the Cylon penal world of Ixion before being rescued by the crew of the Battleship Perseus, and ever since felt a duty to protect the younger Adama in memory of his best friend. Rising to the command of the Galactica, Magus was one of the most decorated Colonial officers of his age.

Commander Magus was born on Aerelon in Cyan Province. During his years as a fighter pilot, his callsign was 'Hawk'. During the course of the "Battlestar Galactica" video game's plotline, Magus is abducted by Cylon forces and converted into a half-human, half cyborg agent and turned against his own people.

Note
The "Battlestar Galactica" video game has its own continuity that uses elements from both the Original Series and the Re-imagined Series.

In some write-ups of the game, his name is written as "Magnus" (Latin for "great"). However, the write-ups are in error, as in the game he is clearly named Magus.

Little is known about the being that called itself Erebus beyond speculation and ill-remembered myths. A dark, devious and hate-filled individual, Erebus was driven by a desire to wipe out all humans, a species he saw as inferior. Not a native of the Cylon Alliance, he apparently only served the Cylons only because it furthered his own ends. Some observers believed that Erebus was an incredibly long-lived being, possibly one of the mythic Lords of Kobol who were the progenitors of the Colonial peoples. Ancient records from the Tombs of Kobol speak of Erebus being exiled from his race for terrible crimes, and of his metahuman abilities that allow him to predict future events and project telekinetic force with his mind. Although it cannot be confirmed, it was suspected that Erebus commanded the Cylon forces that attacked Sagitara early in the war; it was during this assault that William Adama’s father was killed and Bryn Magus was captured and imprisoned. Whatever the truth about this aberrant, corrupt being, Lord Erebus proved himself to be a clear and present danger to all humans. Erebus was served by modified Cylons as part of his Crimson Elite Guard. He was finally killed by Adama in the upper atmosphere of the gas giant planet Golem Five.
Erebus was voiced by veteran actor Dwight Schultz, who starred in the TV show "The A-Team" with Original Series actor Dirk Benedict.
