Shevon is a prostitute residing on Cloud Nine with her daughter, Paya. Through means unknown, Lee Adama began to solicit her services sometime after his ordeal during the operation to destroy the Resurrection Ship. Adama likely sought her out because Shevon reminded him of a love he left behind on the Twelve Colonies.

More than a sexual relationship, Shevon also comforted Adama. Though unbeknownst to the captain, she was working for the black market's leader, Phelan. Upon Shevon summoning Adama to Cloud Nine, Adama was attacked and left unconscious. After regaining consciousness, he had discovered that Phelan left him Commander Jack Fisk's killer, complete with the murder weapon.

Despite the gesture, Tom Zarek relenquished information that Phelan was aboard the freighter Prometheus with Shevon and Paya. Summarily, she was released upon Phelan's death at Adama's hand, though Shevon made it clear to Adama that she was in no way similar to the woman he had left behind on the Colonies (Black Market).

It is unknown whether or not she and Paya died in the destruction of Cloud Nine (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II).

Rumors amongst the Colonials indicate that this ice planet houses a superweapon, since it houses an impressive amount of defenses: three Raider wings, ground forces, nuclear weapons (Razor Flashbacks, Episode 1) and at least two basestars (Razor Flashbacks, Episode 3).

When Adama crash lands on the planet, he discovers a grounded basestar and several warehouses. In one of the buildings he finds a laboratory, where the Cylons experimented on humans they abducted from civilian vessels. Unable to free the survivors, he leaves the building when the basestar takes off (Razor Flashbacks, Episodes 4 through 7).

Over 40 years later, Adama realizes that this was a base where the Cylons created the Hybrids by experimenting on humans. The first Hybrid was on the basestar that escaped and the crew of that ship were the only remaining original Centurions left as the other Centurions were created non-sentient. The ship that escaped is destroyed by a strike force from Pegasus with a nuke in the Battle of the Guardian Basestar (Razor).

In preparation for Galactica's future as a preserved relic after decommissioning, a museum/visitor center was constructed in the starboard flight pod. Massive canopies were installed over the fore and aft bays to contain an atmosphere, and a number of vehicles and educational displays relating to the first Cylon War, including a Viper Mark I, an old "flying wing" Raider, a landram, a shuttle, the armor of a old-style Cylon Centurion, and a complete squadron of 40 Viper Mark II fighters were spread throughout the pressurized landing deck (Miniseries, Razor, Daybreak, Part II).

The starboard flight pod's conversion into a museum included the transformation of its launch tubes and launch station into a gift shop, rendering it unusable for flight operations.

A ceremonial flyby of Galactica's last remaining active Viper squadron and the decommissioning ceremony was held here just prior to the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies.

The Galactica deck crew hurriedly restored some of the exhibits to working condition upon news of the attack. First priority was the Viper Mark II squadron, which was needed to defend the battlestar which had no ordnance and Viper Mark VIIs vulnerable to Cylon computer viruses (Miniseries).

What was left of the museum was heavily damaged several months later when a Cylon Heavy Raider crashed into the starboard flight pod and depressurized it. From here, a wave of Cylon Centurions were able to board Galactica, resulting in many casualties (Scattered).

Later, a squadron of Raptors, carrying crew members exposed to Lymphocytic encephalitis from a derelict Cylon basestar landed in this flight pod to avoid exposing the rest of Galactica's population to the disease (A Measure of Salvation). By this time, the starboard flight pod had not yet resumed normal operations and the enclosed canopy remained (Maelstrom).

During the assault on the Cylon Colony, a group of Raptors was placed within the starboard flight pod museum. The Raptor group jumped directly from the inside of the flight pod in a surprise attack on the Colony. The spacial distortion from the jump, however, resulted in severe hull damage, destroying at least part of the museum (Daybreak, Part II).

Notes
*While the museum pieces are largely meant to be homages to the Original Series, many of these items appear during the series in slightly altered and updated form:
**A landram appears in "Scar" and "Escape Velocity"
**Cylon War era basestars, Raiders and Centurions appear in "Razor"
**A shuttle is docked at Armistice Station at the beginning of the Miniseries
*Because the Original Series and Re-imagined Series use highly different types of weapons and procedures, readers should not assume that these Original Series-style replicas in the museum infer that their Cylon War counterparts used the same Original Series technology.

The Cylon Centurion Model 0005 (henceforth referred to as "Centurions") appeared some years prior to the first Cylon War, during which time they were used by Humanity to make life easier on the Twelve Colonies (Miniseries). Unbeknown to the survivors of the second Cylon attack, the Centurions practiced monotheistic religion, somehow having come to believe in a single, loving God ("No Exit").

Fifty-two years before the Fall of the Twelve Colonies, the Centurions rose up against their masters and rebelled, waging a brutal war that lasted twelve years. The first Cylon War was staged both in space and on the surface of several Colonial planets, including Tauron and other outlying worlds. Centurions were present at these locations, fighting hand to hand against the Colonial Military and civilian fighters, as well as piloting raiders and commanding basestars in battle against the Colonial Fleet ("Razor").

During the war, the Centurions captured prisoners and conducted scientific experiments on them. Performing brutal operations on live victims, the Centurions strove to create fully biological Humanoid Cylons. Their experiments resulted in the development of the Hybrids - an evolutionary "dead end" - the first of which was created shortly before the cease of hostilities ("Razor").

Unable to create life that could live on its own, the Centurions agreed to end the war in exchange for help from the Final Five survivors of the Thirteenth Colony who possessed resurrection technology. The Centurions signed the Cimtar Peace Accord with humanity and withdrew with The Five to a mobile space station called The Colony. Located somewhere beyond the designated Armistice Line, the Centurions and Final Five developed eight humanoid models and instilled in them monotheistic beliefs ("No Exit").

Guardians
The Guardians were a group of Cylon-War era Centurions that piloted a single basestar, containing the first Cylon Hybrid, into deep space following the Armistice. Utilizing decades old Raiders and weaponry, the Guardians operated entirely separately from the rest of the Cylon civilization, becoming something of a Cylon legend.

These Centurions guarded the original Hybrid, still alive over 40 years after its creation. Seeking to further their evolution and continue the experiments begun during the first Cylon War, the Guardians captured a civilian science team from the surviving Fleet following the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. This triggered a battle between the Guardian baseship and the Battlestar Pegasus, under the command of Lee Adama. During the battle, an assault team lead by Major Kendra Shaw boarded the basestar and rescued the science team, detonating a nuclear weapon that destroyed the ship and killed the Hybrid ("Razor").

The Colony
Despite the development of the Modern Centurion by the humanoid Cylons, some of the original Centurions remained in operation aboard the Cylon Colony. Serving alongside their modern counterparts, these Centurions were instrumental during the Battle of the Colony, when remaining Colonial forces launched an all out offensive to retrieve the half-Cylon, half-Human child Hera.

Armed with advanced weaponry, these Centurions engaged in combat against rebel Cylon Centurions, dubbed "Red Stripes" by the crew of Galactica. The Centurions also acted as shock troops, boarding the Galactica at platoon strength. Ultimately, though, the Cylon boarding parties were repelled and the remaining Centurions were presumably destroyed when the Colony itself was knocked into a black hole ("Daybreak, Part II").

Design
Likened to "walking chrome toasters" by the Colonials, the Cylon War-era Centurions still had their place in Cylon society far past the initial conflict. Iconic features such as the red, pulsating "eye" were carried into later generations of the Cylon Centurion and even into the modern, autonomous raiders (Miniseries). Still many of these models were scrapped before the second Cylon attack on the Colonies ("Razor").

The Cylon War-era Centurions were, like their predecessors, bipedal androids, with an average height of 6'6" and composed of silver-chrome plating. They carried backpack-like power cells and were armed with flexible rear armor which protected otherwise exposed internal mechanisms . Physically stronger than humans, the Centurions were designed with sufficient dexterity and capability of using weapons and tools. Centurions communicated at least partially vocally, but were also capable of receiving radio signals internally ("Razor").

Unlike their successors, these early Centurions did not possess built-in projectile weapons, but were armed with retractable blades, built into their forearms. There are indications that Centurions also used bladed weapons such as swords in at least some Cylon War conflcits.)

Variations
There are at least four variations of the Cylon War-era Centurion based upon function and placement within the hierarchy of early Cylon society. In addition to standard Centurion models, more compact "Warrior" versions and sturdier "Soldiers" have been observed. Centurion warriors were distinguished by more helmet-like heads and were heavily armored, possessing flexible coverings over the torso and upper arms and ammunition clips around their waists. These warrior versions were used in great numbers to defend the Colony during the final days of the second conflict. Gold-colored Centurions were also in service during the Cylon War, observed commanding Cylon raiders in combat.

Demeanor
The Colonial-designed Centurions used artificial intelligence, and were designed as sentient beings. By the time the first war ended, they were already practitioners of a religion centered around what would come to be considered the "Cylon God" ("No Exit").

Saul Tigh, who possessed false memories of the First Cylon War, recalled the Cylon boarding of the Brenik, and the apparent hatred the Centurions had for humanity - despite the physical inability of the Cylons to show emotion on their faces (deleted scene from "Scattered"). This reflection of animosity and intensity is also apparent in the stylized Monclair painting in William Adama's quarters, depicting Cylon War-era Centurions battling Colonial forced utilizing relatively primitive weapons ("Islanded In a Stream of Stars ").

Connection to the Original Series
The readable text of the Armistice Officer's Cylon Specifications sheet shows:

: <center><b>CYLON SPECIFICATIONS</b></center>
: <center><b>Cylon Centurian </b>[sic]<b> Model 0005</b></center>
: <b>The Cylon:</b>

<blockquote>A Cylon is a bipedal robot. They are self-aware, and usually quite logical. They are not especially fast, but they are quite strong. They are artificial in nature, and are larger than a human, around 6' 6" (2m), although this varies with their type. Cylon eyes glow red, and pulse back and forth. A Cylon is powered by internal powercells which allow it to function without outside aid for around nine to ten yahrens.</blockquote>

Notes
*Centurions in "Razor" and the Razor Flashbacks move with greater agility and speed than their Original Series counterparts, and utilize projectile weapons instead of a laser pistol or laser rifle.

*A built-in switchblade knife is part of the left hand/forearm. The blade is approximately 8 inches long and is used in close combat (Razor Flashbacks).

*In a scene in the Miniseries, some children can be seen running around in costumes which are patterned after this model.

*The typical catchphrase of the Cylons in both series is the iconic statement "By your command."

Behind the scenes
The Centurion models for "Razor" were designed by Pierre Drolet, who had, among other things, previously designed the Viper Mark II, which is also a homage to the Original Series. Drolet said: "I always thought it was a great design. My goal was not to redesign it from scratch, but to work with the original and make subtle additions."

The armor of a Cylon Centurion from the Original Series can be seen in the museum aboard Galactica during the Miniseries. This is later retconned in "Daybreak, Part II" to reflect the redesigned Centurion from "Razor". Still, this redesigned museum version possesses some details carried over from the original design not present in the "living" Centurions.

__NOTOC__

DRADIS is a highly sensitive detection, identification, navigation and tracking system, analogous in function to radar, used aboard Colonial spacecraft.

DRADIS can be used in stationary configurations as well on ships. A group of Cylon Centurions are able to jury-rig a DRADIS assembly from their Heavy Raider into a stationary tracking array in an attempt to eliminate any SAR missions from Galactica (Fragged).

A "DRADIS contact" is an object or objects detected by DRADIS. Contacts are typically identified by cross-referencing with an IFF system (in the case of ships) or an astronomical database (in the instance of planets or other celestial bodies).

The symbols used on Colonial DRADIS displays for the representation of battlestars, Raptors, and Vipers are visible in the picture to the right.

DRADIS is also used to report radiological alarms.

DRADIS is likely a central component of the navigation computer on Colonial ships such as battlestars, as they do not navigate in sublight mode by visual means. Galactica's tactical and navigation data is displayed on a series of screens that form the DRADIS console, suspended above the CIC's Command and Control console.

The DRADIS can be blinded by external sources of electromagnetic radiation such as artificial radiation by EMP generators (Miniseries), nuclear detonations ("Pegasus", "Razor"), pulsars (Sacrifice), star clusters and binary stars ("The Passage", "The Captain's Hand"), or other phenomenona such as the nebula around New Caprica (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I).

Carbon composites absorb and diffuse DRADIS scans, rending any vehicle comprised of such material largely invisible (Flight of the Phoenix). Conversely, false positive contacts can be induced though electronic interference or malfunction, producing contacts that either misrepresent their actual configuration or do not actually exist. In the case of the latter, such false positives are referred to as "ghosts" ("Exodus, Part II", "The Oath").

Sourcing of the term
The "Direction, RAnge, and DIStance" breakdown of the acronym "DRADIS" was listed in an early manuscript of the first half of the Miniseries. Since some major elements of this script were changed (such as Kobol being the sole home of the Colonies, and not separate worlds) in comparison to the completed teleplay, canonical use of this breakdown should be taken with some skepticism.

There is some evidence to suggest that the original breakdown is the canonical version. In "Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I", Crashdown performs a DRADIS sweep of Kobol. The aerial survey is later presented to the President. For a brief moment, as Roslin takes the survey image out of Billy Keikeya's hand, the DRADIS information printed on the image is visible. The letters on the image are clear and are as follows:

:Aerial Survey
:D. 41376
:Ra. 145.8
:Dis. 43.5

The letters represent numerical values. While this is not conclusive evidence, it is consistent with the original manuscript definition.

Notes
*The Original Series counterpart to DRADIS is simply referred to as the scanner.
*The Cylons also employ DRADIS on their spacecraft. No visual representation of the Cylon DRADIS exists, as the corresponding tracking data appears to be uploaded directly into the consciousnesses of the Cylons in charge of command and control via the Baseship datastream (The Ties That Bind).
Backstory
* The Cylons were created by the people of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol as a labor and military force. Approximately 52 years prior, the Cylons turned on their human creators and the Cylon War ensued. After an armistice was declared, the Cylons left the Colonies, apparently to seek a homeworld of their own.
*The Colonials maintain an Armistice Station as a place where Cylon and Colonial representatives can meet in order to maintain diplomatic relations. However, the Cylons have never sent an ambassador. No one has seen a Cylon since the end of the Cylon War, over 40 years ago.

Summary
Act 1
*At the Armistice Station, the Armistice Officer, with pictures of his family on his desk, is dozing off when the unexpected happens: Two Cylon Centurions enter the station and take guard at the station's Cylon entrance. These Cylons appear similar to the expected Cylon Centurion Model 0005, but are distinctively taller and more menacing.
*The Colonial officer is further surprised by the entrance of a a beautiful female. Instead of sitting at the negotiation table, the woman walks over to the officer's side of the table in a seductive fashion, leans over to examine him, asking, "Are you alive?"
*The woman kisses the Colonial officer as the station shakes from the impact of a Cylon missile, fired from a basestar - a massive Cylon capital warship that dwarfs the tiny station.
*The woman restrains the officer, preventing him from escaping. "It has begun," she says as she forcefully kisses him - and the Armistice Station and its occupants are destroyed.
*Some distance from the colony of Caprica, the battlestar Galactica, one of the last relics from the Cylon War, is preparing for its decommissioning ceremony. Instead of being scrapped, the ship is slated to be turned into a museum in honor of its wartime service.
*Aaron Doral, a P.R. representative for the government, provides a tour of the battlestar to the press as life goes on in the battlestar. Lt. Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, a Viper pilot, jogs through the corridors.
*Commander William Adama prepares his speech for the ceremony, occasionally being interrupted by well-wishers of his crew on his pending retirement. As Thrace passes by, he and she exchange their personal pilot's greeting.
*Lieutenant Gaeta, the ship's Watch Officer, notifies him of various bits of Fleet housekeeping news, including a request from Fleet Headquarters asking any available FTL-capable ships to visit Armistice Station, as the officer there is overdue from his mission there. Adama notes that his ship's decommissioning ceremonies that day would make Galactica a bit too busy to aid there.
*The hangar deck crew, led by Galen Tyrol, gives Adama a parting gift for the retiring battlestar and its commander. The crew has found and refurbished Adama's old Viper Mark II from the Cylon War, and has readied it for flight. Specialist Prosna also gives Adama a picture from the Colonial Fleet archives that shows a young Adama with his two sons, Lee Adama and Zak Adama. When Adama sees the picture, he appears shaken. Adama's youngest son was killed two years before, which has caused a rift in his relationship with his older son, a captain in the Colonial Fleet.
*Thrace is locked in the brig after striking Colonel Saul Tigh, who starts a fight during a card game.
*Another seemingly identical twin of the blonde woman from the Armistice Station walks through the Riverwalk Market. During her walk, she runs into a young mother, Chantara, and her baby boy. She begins observing how small babies are and asks to hold it. After obtaining the mother's permission to do so, the blonde begins to cooing the crying baby, telling him that he'll soon no longer cry. She makes a disturbing observation about the baby's neck being able to support his head's weight, which disturbs the mother. However, she is momentarily distracted by her husband and the blonde snaps the baby's neck, and walks away from the crowd as the mother screams frantically about her now-deceased child.

Act 2
*Captain Lee "Apollo" Adama arrives in his Viper Mark VII as part of the decommissioning ceremonies. He appears ambivalent about his role, given the rift between he and Commander Adama, his father. He questions the use of manual landings for Galactica, which Chief Tyrol explains as standard procedure on the old battlestar.
*Famed scientist Gaius Baltar gives a remote television interview with reporter Kellan Brody at his home. While Baltar speaks in the interview, a woman enters his home with the familiarity of someone who has entered the home many times. The woman is identical to the blonde woman seen on the Armistice Station.
*Baltar and the young blonde woman have sexual intercourse. As she gyrates atop Baltar, the spine of the young woman glows a bright red color.
*On Caprica, Secretary of Education Laura Roslin sits in a doctor's office. The doctor arrives with grim news. She has breast cancer and it has spread aggressively.
*Roslin later boards the government-chartered civilian transport, Colonial Heavy 798 as the government representative that will attend Galactica's decommissioning ceremonies. She is joined by a government aide, Billy Keikeya, who briefs her on the events. Roslin, however, is too distracted by the news of her illness to fully absorb Keikeya's notes.
*Later, Baltar and his blonde girl friend discuss the success of his Command Navigation Program. He boasts that her involvement with the project should help her later in future work with the government, but the woman tells him cryptically that future government work wasn't the reason that she helped. She leaves Baltar to meet another person, whose identity is not shown.
*Colonial Heavy 798 arrives. Secretary Roslin meets with Commander Adama, who denies her request to add a student computer network in the battlestar. Unlike her sister battlestars, Galactica has a tradition where its commanders have never allowed networked computers in the ship.
*The next morning, Baltar's young blonde woman ejects another woman she finds Baltar in bed with, and soon tells Baltar of the truth of her existence, and her mission, to Baltar's disbelief.
*The woman is a type of android, a Cylon agent that has used him to access critical Colonial Fleet facilities to, among other things, compromise his CNP software. When Baltar becomes upset, denies involvement and reaches for his phone to call his lawyer, the blonde woman tells Baltar not to worry, since in a few hours, no one will be alive to accuse him of any crime. The flash of a distant nuclear explosion appears outside Baltar's scenic windows.
*Captain Adama and the last Viper squadron flies overhead the starboard landing bay to the Colonial musical fanfare, where the new museum is located.
*Commander Adama completes his address at the decommissioning ceremony. His derision of humanity and their creation of the Cylons leaves a quizzical expression on several attendees, including Colonel Tigh.

Act 3
*Baltar watches two news channels as Kellan Brody and a second reporter attempt to report on the explosions. A bomb strikes near Brody's studio, likely obliterating it, as the shockwave of the same bomb blows the second reporter off the air seconds later.
*On Caprica, the young blonde explains that she cannot die, and that her consciousness will download into a new body. She also tells Baltar that there are twelve human Cylon models: She is "Number Six."
*The Cylon protects Baltar as a shockwave from a nuclear bomb rips through Baltar's home, destroying it.
*As Colonial Heavy 798 flies back to Caprica, passengers and crew hear news over personal shortwave wireless sets that the Colonies are under attack. The chaos and intermittent contact make confirmation of the news difficult. Captain Lee Adama, flying escort with the starliner in his father's old Viper, acknowledges the news but warns that the old Viper may not be useful for any real combat.
*Commander Adama is notified of the attacks by Lt. Gaeta and calls the battlestar to action stations.

Act 4
*Most of the crew, including Colonel Tigh, are caught off guard; very few of them have ever assumed action stations except in drills, especially on a battlestar that hasn't any ammunition for its batteries or even a Viper Mark VII squadron remaining aboard. Tigh enters CIC, believing that some shipping accident has occured.
*Commander Adama uses the general ship address system to tell his crew of the "massive assault" by the Cylons, and that Admiral Nagala, on battlestar Atlantia is leading the Fleet attack after Picon Fleet Headquarters was destroyed.
*Adama orders Gaeta to begin a plot of all space traffic, "friendly or otherwise", orders Kara Thrace out of the brig, and orders Tigh to search for munitions depots they can reach to rearm Galactica.
*Galactica's last Viper Mark VII squadron, led by Jackson Spencer, en route to Caprica for reassignment, receives the attack news and moves to intercept a Cylon fighter group. As their support Raptor, piloted by Lt. Sharon "Boomer" Valerii, moves away, Spencer moves his group into attack range.
*Gaeta notes that the bulk of the fight is massing near Virgon.
*Lieutenant Thrace is briefed on the situation. She is aghast that a quarter of the Fleet's 120 battlestars are already lost. She reports many pilots but no fighters. Commander Adama reminds her of the squadron of functional Viper Mark IIs in the museum.
*Communications officer Anastasia Dualla receives word of "equipment malfunctions" throughout the Fleet, including the ominous news of a battlestar completely losing power before being destroyed by the Cylons.
*The Viper Mark VII squadron near Caprica finds only two newly-designed Cylon Raiders, but before the Vipers can attack, the Cylons access the backdoor programming of the Vipers' CNP, disabling every Colonial fighter. The Cylons launch missiles and obliterate the squadron while Boomer's Raptor retreats with the Cylons in pursuit.
*In the Raptor, Boomer and Helo, her ECO, manage to shake off two Cylon missiles using swallows, but not without damage. They make an emergency landing on Caprica for repairs, powering down to escape detection. The planet's surface is still periodically illuminated with flashes of nuclear bomb detonations. Strewn around Caprican space are many undamaged Cylon basestars and the wreckage of a battlestar and other Colonial fighters.
*Adama tells the crew of the extent of nuclear bombings throughout the Colonies, but asks his crew to mourn the dead later and get Galactica into the fight.
*On Colonial Heavy 798, Laura Roslin succeeds in confirming the news of Caprica's plight. After informing the starliner's passengers officially, she manages to contact a fellow official about the attack, including the whereabouts of President Richard Adar. Before she can get more news, a Cylon missile is detected approaching the ship.
*Apollo is able to decoy and destroy the missile, but his Viper is disabled and must be retrieved to 798s cargo bay.
*Boomer and Helo, making repairs, are soon besieged by Colonial refugees who are desperate to escape Caprica. Overwhelmed in a mob, the pilots create a lottery to save a few people, including a child named Boxey.
*Several Cylon Raiders soon engage Galactica and her older Vipers while it performs evasive maneuvers. Unlike the newer Mark VIIs, however, the attack squadron of older Mark II Vipers cannot be electronically compromised by the Cylons. Starbuck finally enters the fray after several aborted launch attempts.
*A Raider fires three nuclear missiles at Galactica. Starbuck manages to down two of the three missiles but the third strikes Galactica in her forward port flight pod.

Act 5
*The fighters rid themselves of the last Cylon fighters, but the battlestar is now in a slow uncontrolled lateral spin. The port flight pod has suffered intense fires and decompressions.
*Chief Tyrol and Captain Aaron Kelly work from the Damage Control console to control the damage, but it is too severe to manage as water mains have been damaged. Deckhand damage control teams are fighting the fires with handheld gear.
*Colonel Tigh orders decompression of sections of the flight pod to prevent the battlestar's fuel lines from being caught in the flre, which would destroy the ship. The decompression works, but 85 crew members are killed in the process, including Prosna.
*Seeing Gaius Baltar is in the crowd, Helo gives up his seat on the Raptor to Galactica, believing that Baltar was more important to the welfare of humanity than a mere Raptor ECO.
*Baltar begins to experience visions of the Number Six Cylon that only he can see and hear.
*The captain of Colonial Heavy 798 discovers an automated government message on wireless. Secretary Roslin instructs the pilot to respond to the message with her government identification. Soon, a response returns from the automated message: Roslin is the only government official alive, and is now assigned the duties of President of the Twelve Colonies by emergency succession. She is sworn in by a priest, Elosha.
*Tigh notifies Adama of the death count, and of Ragnar Anchorage, a munitions depot on the opposite side of the Cylon fleet. Adama orders for confirmation on the depot's storage.
*Chief Tyrol meets with Adama to berate Tigh for acting too quickly, but the commander (with some level of sympathy) dresses down Tyrol. Adama tells Tyrol that, if he were at the damage control station, he would have done the same as Tigh.
*Dualla gives Adama more fateful news: Nagala's ship, Atlantia, as well many other battlestars such as the Triton, Solaria, and Columbia are destroyed.
*As the only senior officer remaining in the Colonial Fleet, Commander Adama assumes fleet command and issues a system-wide order to all Colonial Fleet units to rendezvous at Ragnar Anchorage for counterattack preparations.
*As Roslin's transport, renamed Colonial One, begins a rescue of several civilian ships, two Cylon Raiders launch nuclear missiles at the Colonial ships. Roslin refuses to leave the area, but Lee Adama activates Galactica's old electric pulse generators stored in Colonial One's cargo hold.
*Galactica Actual is in communication with Colonial One before the attack as Captain Adama and Commander Adama argue over his orders to regroup at Ragnar, which conflict with Roslin's orders to initiate civilian rescues.
*When communication is cut off as Captain Adama deals with the missile attack, Galactica is able to get a remote telemetry of the incoming missiles. The telemetry registers what appears to be a nuclear explosion as the signal disappears.
*Commander Adama mourns the loss of another son, but orders that jump preparations to Ragnar continue.

Notes
* Principal photography for the miniseries occured between 1 April and 12 June 2003.. However, Eisner left the miniseries to work on other projects, including Sahara, a film adaptation of Clive Cussler's 1992 novel of the same name. While Michael Rymer was eventually selected, Jeff Woolnough (who would later direct episodes of the series) was also considered as the miniseries' director.

* Michael Rymer discusses the first sex scene between Gaius Baltar and Number Six:

: I think science fiction tends to be a little antiseptic in its depiction of sexuality. It's clearly aimed at teenage boys and usually consists of just a babe in a tight outfit. So I wanted to do something that had more of a relationship to reality and shows that sexuality is a huge part of life.
: The scene between Baltar and Number Six is all about lust. I was fascinated by the way Number Six uses sex to get the information the Cylons use to destroy humanity, because I thought that was very believable and had a great contemporary relevance – there have been a lot of scandals over the years involving national security and military secrets being exchanged for sex.

* Moore on focusing on people's reactions to the destruction of the Colonies, than on the destruction itself:

: I wanted to keep the focus on our people. It's more effective and scarier if the attack is happening out there some place, and you're stuck on a ship and can only hear about it. That was very reminiscent of 9/11, and also harked back to the movie In Harm's Way, which focused on what was happening on John Wayne's cruiser during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

* Matthew Bennett discusses auditioning for the Miniseries:

: I had heard that they were going to be shooting the Battlestar mini-series well before the auditions. We had all heard about it. It was a big show that was coming to town and I had watched the original show as a kid. When it came to the audition I didn’t actually know I was auditioning for Doral. The scene I was given to read when I showed up was the tour scene that starts the show. It was a lot of dialogue, but the director, Michael Rymer, told me that he wanted me in the show and so we worked in the audition room to find it. It seemed to work. Michael likes actors and for me that’s everything. He’s a guy who has a lot of trust in what we do and so I wanted to work with him.

* Aaron Douglas discusses his growing involvement in the Miniseries:

: Oh God, read the original script. In the original script, Tyrol is just this relatively small character. There is not a whole lot going on. There’s not a lot of scenes and there’s not a lot of dialogue. I mean, he was there and he was in place and everybody understood who he was and everything like that, but oh yeah, David Eick was on the set as sort of helping us do the re-write as we go, constant communication was going on and Michael Rymer would just sort of say, “go Aaron, go.” And I am a big improver, if the line doesn’t make sense I’ll change the line, and originally I had nine days in the shooting schedule, and I ended up with 14 because David just kept adding scenes and adding scenes and adding lines, and I would show up and David would just go, “OK, I’m putting you to this scene, I’m not really sure what the dialogue would be but here’s the situation...” And then: Go. And I’d go out and just improv something and he would say “Fabulous! It’s great , do it again!” Or he would say, “Good. I really need this one word hit.” And so, a lot of my stuff is improved and ad-libbed. And they just kept adding me to more and more scenes.

:The Cylon War is long over, yet we must not forget the reasons why so many sacrificed so much in the cause of freedom. The cost of wearing the uniform can be high, but...sometimes it's too high.

:You know, when we fought the Cylons, we did it to save ourselves from extinction. But we never answered the question, why? Why are we as a people worth saving? We still commit murder because of greed, spite, jealousy. And we still visit all of our sins upon our children. We refuse to accept the responsibility for anything that we've done. Like we did with the Cylons. We decided to play God, create life. When that life turned against us, we comforted ourselves in the knowledge that it really wasn't our fault, not really. You cannot play God then wash your hands of the things that you've created. Sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide from the things that you've done anymore.
* Mini1 war.mp3

: Adama: This is the commander. Moments ago, this ship received word of a Cylon attack against our home worlds is underway. We do not know the size or the disposition or the strength of the enemy forces. But all indications point... to a massive assault against Colonial defenses.

: Admiral Nagala has taken personal command of the fleet aboard the battlestar Atlantia, following complete destruction of Picon Fleet Headquarters in the first wave of the attacks.

: How, why ... doesn't really matter now.

: What does matter is that, as of this moment, we are at war.

: You've trained for this. You're ready for this. Stand to your duties, trust your fellow shipmates and we'll all get through this. Further updates as we get them. Thank you.

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) generator is an anti-electronics weapon that mimics the intense EM radiation created by a nuclear explosion in an atmosphere. The resulting EM field couples with nearby electronics systems, inducing electrical currents and voltages, thus damaging sensitive electronic equipment.

Just before the Cylon attack, "electric pulse generators" are being transported to Caprica from the decommissioned battlestar Galactica on Colonial Heavy 798, presumably to place in a planet side museum or school as a historical artifact, or for re-use on another ship (Miniseries).

As the destruction of the ship by Cylon nuclear missiles is imminent, Lee Adama activates the devices, giving the appearance that Colonial One had been destroyed by a nuclear blast. This ruse is successful, as the Cylons do not immediately return. The missiles were disabled by the EMP with an energy pulse so strong that Galactica's DRADIS picks up the pulse, which leaves William Adama grieving for the apparent loss of his last son.

The human passengers are stunned unconscious by the pulse as well, but soon recover. Colonial One's electronic systems seemed to be fully functional after the attack.

Notes
*These devices are probably standard equipment aboard ships such as battlestars, given Lee Adama's knowledge about the electric pulse generators.
*Such devices might have been part of a battlestar's fighting tactics against Cylon attacks in the first Cylon War, (but not in the second), since Cylons were purely mechanical at the time and their circuits were vulnerable to EMP attacks unless shielded. Given that a non-military craft such as Colonial One recovers very shortly after the pulse, the EMP may not be an effective ship-disabling weapon. Lee Adama mentions that simulations performed at the Colonial military academy resulted in low probabilities that a generated EMP would fool Cylon forces, suggesting that EMP's are a defense and deception tool rather than a weapon (Miniseries, Night 2).
*During the Fall of the Scorpion Fleet Shipyards, the battlestar Pegasus gains valuable time to escape by a blind jump when the radiation from the Cylons' nuclear weapons temporarily blinded their own DRADIS (Pegasus).
