::::The drop down does not format on lists correct. Like before, it would create a new line and interrupt the list numbers. Also, from our previous discussion on javascript expanding boxes in the middle of episodes pages (which are not at the top), templates that expand huge things of text change the entire format of the page layout when they expand. == Question on editing etiquette ==

Hi,

I'm a newbie here. So this is a question so I can hopefully avoid stepping on anyone's toes. If you see an existing article and wish to add to the information and content, would it always be best to ask the original contributor before doing so? Especially if to do so, I would have to move some items around in the original article.

For example, I want to put in a new reference to supplement the article, however, it would need to go before an existing article, requiring renumbering of all of the references.

I'm just trying to get a feel of what is good editing and bad editing before I put foot in mouth.

:In a word, no. In addition to greatly slowing down the ability for the community to keep things up to date, it also ignores the fact that once you hit "save page" your edits become community property. There really isn't an "ownership" of articles, outside of perhaps articles in the "User" namespace. So feel free to [[BW:BOLD|be bold]] and get in those edits. If somebody takes issue with your edits they can either change it back themselves, take it up in the talk page of the article in question, and/or potentially bring it up on your talk page. == How Can This Not Be Canonical? ==

On the [[unnamed battlestars]] page, there is section dealing with the [[Berserk Class Escort]]. A notation notes the specific information on this class of ship is non-canonical. Presumably because it comes from the ship designer's own website vs that from one of the sanctioned websites or sources. But the ship WAS used in [[Razor]]. So how can one on one hand use it in the show and on the other hand say that any specific information on it from it's creator is non-canonical simply because TPTB never bothered to put it with a sanctioned source? It either is or isn't in my book. I'm sure this discussion has arisen many times before, but I'd like to find out the final arguement that finally determined why this source, which straddles the line, should be excluded as non-sanctioned? :The ship described on the website is on the show, but canon starts from the aired content and trickles down from there. So while we do see the ship, we aren't given any in-show identification of the ship. Also, there's nothing from the producers on the matter. However... the information coming from "crew" does seem to place it somewhere in category 3 in the [[BW:CITE|source hierarchy]], so it should have some weight (IMO). Anyway, I can see where the note was coming from (in that none of the information about the name of the ship, etc., came from any aired info or from RDM, etc), but I think you've got a decent argument. Given Joe's edit to the article, it appears he at least checked out the source website enough to correct the spelling to match it. Personally, I'd consider replacing the "canon" note and just replace it with a reference pointing to Chu's website. I do have to agree that it's not necessarily a battlestar, and in fact given the escort designation it's likely not a battlestar. Very, very new here. I'm wondering if the contents of the newzine "The Caprican" will be included in info on the Caprica series?

It's been really great to read it, and join in the group that's been posting in character. I wouldn't think that the comments would be included as material, but the actual articles seem like they're going to be good fodder for Colonial life in general.

Just to illustrate my point (and bring the discussion up again): Most of you are probably aware of this but I think [http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Ronald_D._Moore Memory Alpha] is a very good example for what I mean. ==Citation Links, Templates and...other things==
I have a suggestion for the wiki, I hope this is the right place to put this (The above discussion leads me to believe that it is), but it concerns the citation links to episodes, their placement and formatting. I was thinking that a series of templates would allow the proper formatting this wiki wishes to obtain, while being able to properly link to the intended pages (for instance, having CAP lead to Caprica, instead of a disimbig page). Some others from other wikis may get an idea of what I am trying to suggest (and perhaps it already has been done so). This is not without it's flaws though, most wiki's have found (unless a better system can be put in place, or someone knows what they are doing are far better with wiki coding then I am) that episode pages all need to be moved to "title (episode)" to prevent false/unwanted page/wanted page requests. Basically, the idea here is, when one wants to cite an episode of the reimagined series, they'd have to write <nowiki>([[TRS]]: "[[33]]")</nowiki>, my idea would have them writing out <nowiki>({{TRS|33}})</nowiki>, you'd get the same formatting, but less coding to do, especially if you going to cite multiple episodes. --[[User:Typhoeus|Typhoeus]] 07:25, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

First, this would not work for paragraphs where citing multiple episodes—perhaps across multiple series, like TRS & Caprica—would be necessary. Secondly, it's not really a matter of coding, but the number of database calls such a template would do each time the page is viewed—and, frankly, cost of increased database calls is not really worth that. == Query regarding suicide bombing in Battlestar Galactica ==

Hi. I'm currently writing an essay on the suicide bombing in the episode occupation. I'm framing it from Bill Adama's perspective looking back on the events of the suicide bombing and trying to debate the moral conundrums that the episode so cleverly draws out. I am going to try and reflect on past events both fictional and within our world now that may have happened in the past. I am intrigued to know whether there is anything in the scriptures of the twelve colonies or in cylon prophecy that mentions martyrdom or the cult of the hero? I was also wondering if you had any more info on how Adama's Mom and Sister died, I know it was a suicide bombing but is there any more specific information on how it happened and why?

Why are articles in the reimagined series that need disambiguation marked "(RDM)" instead of "(TRS)"? I understand where the RDM comes from, but [[Battlestar Galactica (TRS)|the series article itself]] uses TRS and reimagined series episode names in articles are supposed to be prefixed with TRS:, so it would appear that it's been decided that "TRS" is the appropriate series identifier. I've created some simple templates like those on Memory Alpha for displaying episode titles with the appropriate prefixes and punctuation. They are:

:::Well, there are more than 4,000 pages that would call the script, and with the average page using roughly 5 of these episode templates per page... it gets to be a bit of a quagmire, as I mentioned before. Now times that by how many visits we get on a daily basis (40 to 50k)... So that's an additional 800,000,000(ish) calls per day—in addition to whatever the other templates (infoboxes and so forth) that each article calls. Now, Shane's done a good job at trying to reduce the server calls (because MW has this annoying habit of calling everything whenever the page is ''loaded'', as opposed to when it is ''updated''). Now our new server has some real power behind it, so I do feel that we could more than handle that... Still, I'm very cautious so I will have to speak to Shane about this, because he knows more about the tech stuff than I do.

:::As for the bot code, Shane wrote (or modified) many of the bots. I spoke to him about that a few weeks ago, and (from what he and I understand) MW changed the way bots work in the 1.15 series. Hi,

I'm a newbie here. So this is a question so I can hopefully avoid stepping on anyone's toes. If you see an existing article and wish to add to the information and content, would it always be best to ask the original contributor before doing so? Especially if to do so, I would have to move some items around in the original article.

For example, I want to put in a new reference to supplement the article, however, it would need to go before an existing article, requiring renumbering of all of the references.

I'm just trying to get a feel of what is good editing and bad editing before I put foot in mouth.

In addition to greatly slowing down the ability for the community to keep things up to date, it also ignores the fact that once you hit "save page" your edits become community property. There really isn't an "ownership" of articles, outside of perhaps articles in the "User" namespace. So feel free to [[BW:BOLD|be bold]] and get in those edits. If somebody takes issue with your edits they can either change it back themselves, take it up in the talk page of the article in question, and/or potentially bring it up on your talk page. On the [[unnamed battlestars]] page, there is section dealing with the [[Berserk Class Escort]]. A notation notes the specific information on this class of ship is non-canonical. Presumably because it comes from the ship designer's own website vs that from one of the sanctioned websites or sources. But the ship WAS used in [[Razor]]. So how can one on one hand use it in the show and on the other hand say that any specific information on it from it's creator is non-canonical simply because TPTB never bothered to put it with a sanctioned source? It either is or isn't in my book. I'm sure this discussion has arisen many times before, but I'd like to find out the final arguement that finally determined why this source, which straddles the line, should be excluded as non-sanctioned? :The ship described on the website is on the show, but canon starts from the aired content and trickles down from there. So while we do see the ship, we aren't given any in-show identification of the ship. Also, there's nothing from the producers on the matter. However... the information coming from "crew" does seem to place it somewhere in category 3 in the [[BW:CITE|source hierarchy]], so it should have some weight (IMO). Anyway, I can see where the note was coming from (in that none of the information about the name of the ship, etc., came from any aired info or from RDM, etc), but I think you've got a decent argument. Given Joe's edit to the article, it appears he at least checked out the source website enough to correct the spelling to match it. Personally, I'd consider replacing the "canon" note and just replace it with a reference pointing to Chu's website. I do have to agree that it's not necessarily a battlestar, and in fact given the escort designation it's likely not a battlestar. ==Citation Links, Templates and...other things==
I have a suggestion for the wiki, I hope this is the right place to put this (The above discussion leads me to believe that it is), but it concerns the citation links to episodes, their placement and formatting. I was thinking that a series of templates would allow the proper formatting this wiki wishes to obtain, while being able to properly link to the intended pages (for instance, having CAP lead to Caprica, instead of a disimbig page). Some others from other wikis may get an idea of what I am trying to suggest (and perhaps it already has been done so). This is not without it's flaws though, most wiki's have found (unless a better system can be put in place, or someone knows what they are doing are far better with wiki coding then I am) that episode pages all need to be moved to "title (episode)" to prevent false/unwanted page/wanted page requests. Basically, the idea here is, when one wants to cite an episode of the reimagined series, they'd have to write <nowiki>([[TRS]]: "[[33]]")</nowiki>, my idea would have them writing out <nowiki>({{TRS|33}})</nowiki>, you'd get the same formatting, but less coding to do, especially if you going to cite multiple episodes. --[[User:Typhoeus|Typhoeus]] 07:25, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

First, this would not work for paragraphs where citing multiple episodes—perhaps across multiple series, like TRS & Caprica—would be necessary. Hi. I'm currently writing an essay on the suicide bombing in the episode occupation. I'm framing it from Bill Adama's perspective looking back on the events of the suicide bombing and trying to debate the moral conundrums that the episode so cleverly draws out. I am going to try and reflect on past events both fictional and within our world now that may have happened in the past. I am intrigued to know whether there is anything in the scriptures of the twelve colonies or in cylon prophecy that mentions martyrdom or the cult of the hero? I was also wondering if you had any more info on how Adama's Mom and Sister died, I know it was a suicide bombing but is there any more specific information on how it happened and why?

Why are articles in the reimagined series that need disambiguation marked "(RDM)" instead of "(TRS)"? I understand where the RDM comes from, but [[Battlestar Galactica (TRS)|the series article itself]] uses TRS and reimagined series episode names in articles are supposed to be prefixed with TRS:, so it would appear that it's been decided that "TRS" is the appropriate series identifier. I've created some simple templates like those on Memory Alpha for displaying episode titles with the appropriate prefixes and punctuation. They are:

*<nowiki>{{CAP}}</nowiki>

However, as there's already a <nowiki>{{TOS}}</nowiki> template (which has been a candidate for deletion for some time), I couldn't make that one.

The template can be used by simply putting an episode name after a bar, and can fit up to eight episode names. So <nowiki>{{TRS|Miniseries, Night 1|Miniseries, Night 2}}</nowiki> produces {{TRS|Miniseries, Night 1|Miniseries, Night 2}}. Will these be considered useful? :::Well, there are more than 4,000 pages that would call the script, and with the average page using roughly 5 of these episode templates per page... it gets to be a bit of a quagmire, as I mentioned before. Now times that by how many visits we get on a daily basis (40 to 50k)... So that's an additional 800,000,000(ish) calls per day—in addition to whatever the other templates (infoboxes and so forth) that each article calls. Now, Shane's done a good job at trying to reduce the server calls (because MW has this annoying habit of calling everything whenever the page is ''loaded'', as opposed to when it is ''updated''). Now our new server has some real power behind it, so I do feel that we could more than handle that... Still, I'm very cautious so I will have to speak to Shane about this, because he knows more about the tech stuff than I do.

:::As for the bot code, Shane wrote (or modified) many of the bots. I spoke to him about that a few weeks ago, and (from what he and I understand) MW changed the way bots work in the 1.15 series. :[[The Face of the Enemy]] was released before "[[Sometimes a Great Notion]]" for promotional reasons, but it takes place between "Sometimes" and "Disquiet" and the episodes make the most sense when viewed in that order. Air date is usually the best way to go, but in this case I'm leaning towards internal chronology, especially given that all three were aired pretty close to one another.
:As for Razor, I think that while it takes place during season 2, it makes more sense positioned where it is now, given the "Harbinger of Death" reveal at the end, it would be too much of a spoiler back in season 2, and it assumes knowledge of the Cylon Hybrids when introducing the First Hybrid. Also, moving it by more than one season in the chronology section is more of a big deal than moving the webisodes one episode away.

:Also, Razor is a kind of flashback, since it shows past events in a new light, while "Face of the Enemy" viewed before "Sometimes" is actually a flashforward, showing events that happen a few days later. So there are reasons to watch them as aired, while there are none for "Enemy", since that was done for promotional purposes only. Also, it started with someone basing the population count difference in the infobox for "Disquiet" on "Enemy" rather than on "Sometimes", which was then inconsistent with the chronology section, so I changed the latter.

Nor, is it a recent trend; I can date the post star/pre-guest star credit thing back to a show from 1989 and few since. That's always been a thorn in trying to figure that out. I will say that if they're stars, then they're names wouldn't come and go based on an episode-by-episode basis like that seeing as how all the ones in the main credits remain regardless (with the exception of Katee's, but that was only to sell the whole "Kara is dead" thing). == Resurrection and the split of the 13th Tribe ==

The dialogue in this episode about the "Final Five"'s previous lives on Earth reminded me of what Virtual said to Baltar n [[Fragged]], about how anyone who was killed on Kobol was dead forever. At the time, it seemed like a throwaway bit of Virtual Six's usual religious zealotry, but after Ellen Tigh's remark in Tigh's vision/flashback about everything being "in place" for their rebirth after the holocaust, I'm no longer so sure.

So, here's a bit of speculation. We know from the advance buzz on ''[[Caprica (series)|Caprica]]'' that the origins of the Colonies' Cylons had to do with [[Daniel Graystone]]'s efforts to resurrect his daughter in an artificial body -- something that presumably would become a very, very controversial idea if applied on a large scale. Maybe that kind of controversy had something to do with the original departure of the Thirteenth Tribe from Kobol. Perhaps their resurrection system was outlawed on Kobol, leading to their exodus. Grin. I was thinking that an additional dimension to her authority issues was seen in the last few episodes. I think it would be interesting to integrate into this article if possible, but tonight's episode might have some more to say first. We know she had an abusive mother who served in the military, and identifies with her father. The Admiral is a positive father figure to her, but she's disgusted by Tigh, especially his drinking. (Was alcohol her mother's personal tinderbox?)
Enter Cain. On the one hand, Cain identifies with Thrace and gives her positive reinforcement: eg Do you always get what you want, I usually do. In my viewing, Sackhoff plays it as being both nervous and touched by Cain's approval. (Her mother had said she'd never account to anything: here's a much higher ranking woman claiming that she's capable of greatness.) Pretty clear that Cain wants to mentor Thrace, and sees a "younger self" in the pilot. At the same time, it's not a stretch to parallel the violent, volatile Cain with Thrace's absent, abusive mother. (Michelle Forbes would be a really interesting Medea.)
So Kara is being asked to choose between father figure Adama and mother figure Cain, and shooting Cain may feel like a kind of matricide.
Usually when TV shows or movies set up a young character against "two parents," one good, one bad, it's a young man torn between two fathers or father figures (witness "A Bronx Tale," "Platoon," "Star Wars", many others), so it's interesting to see that dynamic with a young woman. Right before Kara's Viper explodes at the climax of "[[Maelstrom]]", if one listens closely (on a DD 5.1 system or with headphones, if one has the iTunes download), one can hear the distinctive voice of an original series (or Guardian, as per the events of "[[Razor]]") Cylon Centurion say "By your command" (the word "command" is muffled by the explosion). At first I thought it was some sound effect used to illustrate the stress of the gas giant's atmosphere on Kara's Viper, but the words "By your" are clearly discernable. He stops to buy an avacado himself then continues walking. A massively bright flash of light appears as Tyrol shields his eyes--

* Elsewhere, Kara Thrace questions that, if her Viper is scattered about this planet, then who flew it here, and how did she herself get back to ''Galactica''. Leoben cautions her, telling her she may not like what she finds. Thrace is perturbed by his words as Leoben has been, typically, very optimistic in his words to her in the past. She questions if the news would be more disturbing to her, or to Leoben himself.

* In the [[ready room]], Lee Adama stands in thought as Dualla appears, asking him why he hasn't boarded a readied Raptor for his Quorum briefing on ''[[Colonial One]]''. Adama laments the many pilots that had once sat here, many of them lost forever over a dead dream. He doesn't want their sacrifice to be meaningless.
* Dualla tells him that his expression reminds her of what he looked like when his father said that he would [[Exodus, Part I|execute the New Caprica rescue with ''Galactica'' alone.]] When he wonders what to say to the Quorum, Dualla tells him to tell the truth. "If anyone can give them a reason to go on, it's you. Apollo." As he leaves, hesitant, he asks her to meet him for a drink later. She accepts.

A ring, her wedding band, is also attached to the chain. Leoben steps back in fear as Thrace asks for an explanation. "I--I don't have one," he says. She recalls what the [[Hybrid]] said, that she would be the "harbinger of death." She yells to the Leoben as he walks away, unable to answer her question, "If that's me sitting there, then what am I?!"

* [[Samuel Anders]] finds the remains of a stringed instrument, probably a guitar. He holds the neck piece, placing his fingers on it as if to play as he recalls a song: [[The Music|"So let us not talk falsely now, 'cause the hour is getting late."]]. He drops the neck and runs to find Tyrol, sitting placidly by the wall and the vision. They both share their visions, both realizing they lived there, in that area, once. Anders recalls that he played that song for a woman he loved. They are joined by [[Tory Foster]], who also recalls that he played that song for [[Final Five|all of us]].
* "That was me," Tyrol says, pointing to the flash-silhouette on the wall, the ashen remains of his body that were bonded to the wall with the force of thousands of degrees.
* Anders angrily questions the paradox. Why they were all still alive? How did they come to the Colonies, to believe they were human? "Two thousand years is a long time to forget!" he says.

* In Admiral Adama's quarters, Laura Roslin sits on the floor. She has set fire to one of the pages of the [[Sacred Scrolls]], specifically, the Pythian Prophecy, turning successive pages to burn each into ash, one by one.
* Adama arrives to ask Roslin to help figure out a way to shore up the Fleet's quickly sagging morale. She is passive. He tells her that she'd missed her [[doloxan]] treatment. Roslin "didn't feel like it," she says, refusing to reschedule. "You just gonna...lie down and quit?" Adama asks. She laments that he took her advice to leave their Colonial solar system, of all the men and women who had died for what appears to be a fruitless series of visions.

* In the twilight, Kara Thrace creates a funeral pyre, burning the corpse of herself found in the wreckage, sitting alone as the flames consume it.

* Lee Adama and Dualla come back from her date as he humorously (and drunkenly) recalls his report to the Quorum. "We are no longer enslaved to the ramblings of Pythia, no longer pecking at the bread crumbs of the Thirteenth Tribe...We are now free to go where we want to go, be who we want to be." Dualla smiles back warmly as they kiss. But Dualla holds him back from more than the kiss, enters her quarters and locks the door. Inside, [[Felix Gaeta]] watches her as she hums. "You're glowing," he says coldly. Dualla chides him. "I want to hold on to this feeling for as long as I can." She looks at a childhood picture of herself in her opened locker, taking off her dog tags. "She has no idea what she has ahead of her," she says of her younger self. Gaeta leaves as Dualla stops humming, calmly places her wedding ring on the locker hook.
* Without any hesitation at all, Dualla pulls out a sidearm from her locker, places it against her temple, and fires.
* [[Diana Seelix]] arrives inside first, with Gaeta not far behind. Both are aghast at the sight of Dualla's body, blood pooling around her hands. They call for medics repeatedly in fear and distress as the scene ends.

===Act 4===

* Lee Adama stands by the shrouded body of Anastasia Dualla in the ship's morgue as his father enters. "She kissed me goodnight 45 minutes ago, and there was joy in her eyes. So tell me why would she do this?" Lee asks. The admiral's stony face melts into a drunken expression. "I don't frakkin' know," he slurs out, taking out a bottle of alcohol to offer to Lee, who refuses it. Anger rising in his face, Lee leaves, passing by Gaeta outside without a word.
* Inside, Admiral Adama looks under the shroud momentarily, covers Dualla's body, as he cries, holding her head, asking to himself, "What did you do?" He kisses the body, saying, "I let you down. I let everybody down."

* Adama comes out into a corridor, demands a sidearm from one of the [[marines]] standing there. Adama storms down a corridor as other stand or sit expressionless. Two men are fist-fighting, crossing Adama's path. He ignores them as he heads to Saul Tigh's quarters.
* "Sit down, Cylon," Adama says angrily after pulling out Tigh's sidearm, arms it and drops it on a table. Adama pours both of them a drink, but Tigh slowly pushes it away.
* Tigh tries to apologize about his revelation of being a Cylon, but Adama is beyond angry. "Is that how it worked? They program you to be my friend? Emulate all the qualities I respect. Tell me jokes...and I laugh at them."
* Tigh counters that he wanted, chose to be his friend. Adama throws insult after insult about [[Ellen Tigh]], angering Tigh to pick up the sidearm to shoot his friend. "Do it! Or I'll do it myself!" Adama says, pointing his own sidearm to his temple.

===Act 5===

* Tigh's gun is pointed at Adama's forehead, but he hesitates pulling the trigger. Adama goads him, "Go on," but Tigh realizes, returning Adama's insult as he rips out the gun's magazine and safes the weapon. "I'm sorry, Bill, but this is the one time I can't help you." Adama drops his gun and reaches for a bottle, but Tigh tries to stop him.
* Adama drinks from a glass anyway as he speaks of his uncle as a kid in the summers spent there, of foxes that would attack his henhouses, of the dog hunts that chased down the foxes at night, forming into a team, forcing the fox toward the river. Half of the foxes would fight, the others would try to cross the river. But some of them would turn with the current, swimming away into the sea. "Because they wanted to drown," Tigh adds. "Maybe. Or maybe they were just...tired."
* Tigh, uncharacteristically, becomes the one that gives Adama a dressing-down, telling him that he can't be like the foxes lost to the sea, reminding him that he is the commander and Tigh is still the XO of the ship, that killing himself would not help himself, or the ship.

* On ''Colonial One'', Lee Adama slowly wipes away a numeral "1" from the [[Survivor count|survivor count]] board as Kara Thrace arrives. Kara tells him that she lost the signal. Lee tells her the news about Dualla. Both can only wonder why Dualla did what she did.

* Adama passes by more passive crewman and some graffiti: "Frak Earth", sprayed on the wall as he heads to [[CIC]]. Ordering [[Hoshi]] to Dualla's old communications station, he orders Gaeta to find any nearby stars compatible with habitable planets, and for Hoshi to invite the rebel Cylons to their next destination. Adama addresses the Fleet, telling them that, while Earth is no longer a choice, he will find them a new home. "This is a promise I intend to keep."

* Saul Tigh greets D'Anna Biers as others evacuate back to the Fleet. D'Anna doesn't want to leave, deciding to stay behind, believing that the cycle of life will keep going on as dreadfully as before. "...and it beats the hell out of being out there with [[Cavil]]. Gonna die in the cold and the dark when Cavil catches up with us." Tigh tries to give encouragement, but D'Anna asks if he ever wanted to just give up, reminding him of Adama's story of the penned-in foxes.
* Tigh later appears to be walking into the sea. Chest-deep in water and continuing down, he has a vision...of destruction in a building, a wall of apartment mailboxes behind him. He hears Ellen, finds her trapped under debris he cannot move. As his real body pulls debris out of the water, Tigh tries to clear the rubble around Ellen. She tells him, as more bombs go off, flashing bright, "Saul, it's okay. Everything's in place. We'll be reborn...again. Together."

* Leoben finds some wreckage and reads off the number on its charred skin: "8757-NC." Kara immediately becomes agitated. "The number on my [[Viper Mark II|(Viper)]] is 8757-NC," she says--the Viper that she flew back to the Fleet after she was [[Maelstrom|apparently killed]].

* On ''Galactica'', the Agathon family plays together happily as Dualla comes over to babysit little [[Hera Agathon]]. While Dualla says to the Agathons that she "looks forward" to spending time with the child, she later tells young Agathon as her parents leave, " You have no idea what's happened, do you? Today's just another day."

* On the planet, amidst some human skeletons dug up, [[Caprica-Six]] and others find something very unexpected: the remains of a head of what is obviously a type of Cylon Centurion, similar to the old [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005|original model]] from the [[First Cylon War]], but clearly not the same.

* Aboard ''Galactica'' in Baltar's lab, Caprica-Six confirms that other Centurion helmets were found with about 250 skeletons from four sites around the planet as well. A [[Number Eight]] confirms that, while the Centurion design is similar, they have never seen this design before.
* Roslin notes that, apparently, the [[Thirteenth Tribe (RDM)|Thirteenth Tribe]] created their own Cylons (paralleling what occurred in the [[Twelve Colonies of Kobol]]). Lee Adama completes her sentence: Like on the Colonies, these Cylons also rebelled against their masters.
*Baltar notes that they dug deeper to test the skeletons themselves. The astonishing fact, confirmed by his Caprica-Six, is that the every one of the skeletons themselves are also [[Humanoid Cylons|a form of humanoid Cylons]]. ''The Thirteenth Tribe were Cylons''.
* After the meeting, Lee Adama asks Roslin what she will say to the [[Quorum of Twelve (RDM)|Quorum]]. But a visibly disheartened Roslin has nothing to say at all. Admiral Adama tells his son to "carry the ball" for Roslin.
*As the admiral and Roslin leave, Tigh asks to speak to his friend, but the scene is unclear if Adama stops to listen.

*Back on the planet, [[Galen Tyrol]] is attracted to a fragment of wall. As he gets closer, he hears echoes of ghosts saying things like "Fresh fruit, get your fresh fruit!" He sees a human silhouette on the wall, looking as if it were painted there. Surrounding the silhouette is weathered writing, barely readable. Tyrol touches the silhouette--and is thrown into a vision of the world as it once was, and Tyrol as he once was, wearing glasses and a sportcoat as he passes through a bustling marketplace of open carts of fruit and flowers and other goods. He stops to buy an avacado himself then continues walking. A massively bright flash of light appears as Tyrol shields his eyes--
* Tyrol falls back to the dead planet, stumbling back, falling to the ground.

* Elsewhere, Kara Thrace questions that, if her Viper is scattered about this planet, then who flew it here, and how did she herself get back to ''Galactica''. Leoben cautions her, telling her she may not like what she finds. Thrace is perturbed by his words as Leoben has been, typically, very optimistic in his words to her in the past. She questions if the news would be more disturbing to her, or to Leoben himself.

* In the [[ready room]], Lee Adama stands in thought as Dualla appears, asking him why he hasn't boarded a readied Raptor for his Quorum briefing on ''[[Colonial One]]''. Adama laments the many pilots that had once sat here, many of them lost forever over a dead dream. He doesn't want their sacrifice to be meaningless.
* Dualla tells him that his expression reminds her of what he looked like when his father said that he would [[Exodus, Part I|execute the New Caprica rescue with ''Galactica'' alone.]] When he wonders what to say to the Quorum, Dualla tells him to tell the truth. "If anyone can give them a reason to go on, it's you. Apollo." As he leaves, hesitant, he asks her to meet him for a drink later. She accepts.

* Kara Thrace finds a large piece of wreckage, overturned. She and Leoben turn it over. It's a Viper cockpit, the burnt remains of its pilot still helmeted, still inside. Cautiously, she lifts the head to find it had blonde hair...''her'' hair. Thrace retches.
* As tears well up, she reaches inside the [[flight suit]] of the body to pull out the [[dog tags]]. In clear letters, the tags read "K. THRACE." A ring, her wedding band, is also attached to the chain. Leoben steps back in fear as Thrace asks for an explanation. "I--I don't have one," he says. She recalls what the [[Hybrid]] said, that she would be the "harbinger of death." She yells to the Leoben as he walks away, unable to answer her question, "If that's me sitting there, then what am I?!"

===Act 3===
* [[Samuel Anders]] finds the remains of a stringed instrument, probably a guitar. He holds the neck piece, placing his fingers on it as if to play as he recalls a song: [[The Music|"So let us not talk falsely now, 'cause the hour is getting late."]]. He drops the neck and runs to find Tyrol, sitting placidly by the wall and the vision. They both share their visions, both realizing they lived there, in that area, once. Anders recalls that he played that song for a woman he loved. They are joined by [[Tory Foster]], who also recalls that he played that song for [[Final Five|all of us]].
* "That was me," Tyrol says, pointing to the flash-silhouette on the wall, the ashen remains of his body that were bonded to the wall with the force of thousands of degrees.
* Anders angrily questions the paradox. Why they were all still alive? How did they come to the Colonies, to believe they were human? "Two thousand years is a long time to forget!" he says.

* In Admiral Adama's quarters, Laura Roslin sits on the floor. She has set fire to one of the pages of the [[Sacred Scrolls]], specifically, the Pythian Prophecy, turning successive pages to burn each into ash, one by one.
* Adama arrives to ask Roslin to help figure out a way to shore up the Fleet's quickly sagging morale. She is passive. He tells her that she'd missed her [[doloxan]] treatment. Roslin "didn't feel like it," she says, refusing to reschedule. "You just gonna...lie down and quit?" Adama asks. She laments that he took her advice to leave their Colonial solar system, of all the men and women who had died for what appears to be a fruitless series of visions.

* In the twilight, Kara Thrace creates a funeral pyre, burning the corpse of herself found in the wreckage, sitting alone as the flames consume it.

* Lee Adama and Dualla come back from her date as he humorously (and drunkenly) recalls his report to the Quorum. "We are no longer enslaved to the ramblings of Pythia, no longer pecking at the bread crumbs of the Thirteenth Tribe...We are now free to go where we want to go, be who we want to be." Dualla smiles back warmly as they kiss. But Dualla holds him back from more than the kiss, enters her quarters and locks the door. Inside, [[Felix Gaeta]] watches her as she hums. "You're glowing," he says coldly. Dualla chides him. "I want to hold on to this feeling for as long as I can." She looks at a childhood picture of herself in her opened locker, taking off her dog tags. "She has no idea what she has ahead of her," she says of her younger self. Gaeta leaves as Dualla stops humming, calmly places her wedding ring on the locker hook.
* Without any hesitation at all, Dualla pulls out a sidearm from her locker, places it against her temple, and fires.
* [[Diana Seelix]] arrives inside first, with Gaeta not far behind. Both are aghast at the sight of Dualla's body, blood pooling around her hands. They call for medics repeatedly in fear and distress as the scene ends.

===Act 4===

* Lee Adama stands by the shrouded body of Anastasia Dualla in the ship's morgue as his father enters. "She kissed me goodnight 45 minutes ago, and there was joy in her eyes. So tell me why would she do this?" Lee asks. The admiral's stony face melts into a drunken expression. "I don't frakkin' know," he slurs out, taking out a bottle of alcohol to offer to Lee, who refuses it. Anger rising in his face, Lee leaves, passing by Gaeta outside without a word.
* Inside, Admiral Adama looks under the shroud momentarily, covers Dualla's body, as he cries, holding her head, asking to himself, "What did you do?" He kisses the body, saying, "I let you down. I let everybody down."

* Adama comes out into a corridor, demands a sidearm from one of the [[marines]] standing there. Adama storms down a corridor as other stand or sit expressionless. Two men are fist-fighting, crossing Adama's path. He ignores them as he heads to Saul Tigh's quarters.
* "Sit down, Cylon," Adama says angrily after pulling out Tigh's sidearm, arms it and drops it on a table. Adama pours both of them a drink, but Tigh slowly pushes it away.
* Tigh tries to apologize about his revelation of being a Cylon, but Adama is beyond angry. "Is that how it worked? They program you to be my friend? Emulate all the qualities I respect. Tell me jokes...and I laugh at them."
* Tigh counters that he wanted, chose to be his friend. Adama throws insult after insult about [[Ellen Tigh]], angering Tigh to pick up the sidearm to shoot his friend. "Do it! Or I'll do it myself!" Adama says, pointing his own sidearm to his temple.

===Act 5===

* Tigh's gun is pointed at Adama's forehead, but he hesitates pulling the trigger. Adama goads him, "Go on," but Tigh realizes, returning Adama's insult as he rips out the gun's magazine and safes the weapon. "I'm sorry, Bill, but this is the one time I can't help you." Adama drops his gun and reaches for a bottle, but Tigh tries to stop him.
* Adama drinks from a glass anyway as he speaks of his uncle as a kid in the summers spent there, of foxes that would attack his henhouses, of the dog hunts that chased down the foxes at night, forming into a team, forcing the fox toward the river. Half of the foxes would fight, the others would try to cross the river. But some of them would turn with the current, swimming away into the sea. "Because they wanted to drown," Tigh adds. "Maybe. Or maybe they were just...tired."
* Tigh, uncharacteristically, becomes the one that gives Adama a dressing-down, telling him that he can't be like the foxes lost to the sea, reminding him that he is the commander and Tigh is still the XO of the ship, that killing himself would not help himself, or the ship.

* On ''Colonial One'', Lee Adama slowly wipes away a numeral "1" from the [[Survivor count|survivor count]] board as Kara Thrace arrives. Kara tells him that she lost the signal. Lee tells her the news about Dualla. Both can only wonder why Dualla did what she did.

* Adama passes by more passive crewman and some graffiti: "Frak Earth", sprayed on the wall as he heads to [[CIC]]. Ordering [[Hoshi]] to Dualla's old communications station, he orders Gaeta to find any nearby stars compatible with habitable planets, and for Hoshi to invite the rebel Cylons to their next destination. Adama addresses the Fleet, telling them that, while Earth is no longer a choice, he will find them a new home. "This is a promise I intend to keep."

* Saul Tigh greets D'Anna Biers as others evacuate back to the Fleet. D'Anna doesn't want to leave, deciding to stay behind, believing that the cycle of life will keep going on as dreadfully as before. "...and it beats the hell out of being out there with [[Cavil]]. Gonna die in the cold and the dark when Cavil catches up with us." Tigh tries to give encouragement, but D'Anna asks if he ever wanted to just give up, reminding him of Adama's story of the penned-in foxes.
* Tigh later appears to be walking into the sea. Chest-deep in water and continuing down, he has a vision...of destruction in a building, a wall of apartment mailboxes behind him. He hears Ellen, finds her trapped under debris he cannot move. As his real body pulls debris out of the water, Tigh tries to clear the rubble around Ellen. She tells him, as more bombs go off, flashing bright, "Saul, it's okay. Everything's in place. We'll be reborn...again. Together."
* The vision fades as Tigh realizes the truth. "Ellen...Ellen! You're the [[Final Five|fifth!]]"

== Biography ==

Dualla's father thought that her enlistment in the [[Colonial Fleet (RDM)|Colonial Fleet Reserve]] was crazy, and he viewed the military as a joke. She signed up anyway because she "wanted to believe in something." This rift with her father would continue throughout her service and the last time they spoke they got in a heated argument; three weeks later the Cylons attacked, and Dualla never got a chance to reconcile with him ([[Final Cut]]). His rejection of her career choice stems from traditional Sagittaron [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies#Sagittaron beliefs|beliefs]] in pacifism, which Dualla does not share ([[The Woman King]]).

At the time of the [[Cylon attack]] she monitors Colonial Fleet communications traffic. Dualla is among the first to notice the unusually high levels of [[CNP|shipboard malfunctions and failures]] aboard other battlestars ([[Miniseries]]).

After the Fleet's [[Battle of Ragnar Anchorage|initial escape and pursuit]] by the Cylons, Dualla coordinates Fleet activities such as [[FTL]] jumps with Tactical Officer [[Felix Gaeta]]. In this responsibility, she discovers that the ''[[Olympic Carrier]]'' fails to jump with the fleet after yet another jump ([[33]]).

Due to his attraction to Dualla, presidential aide [[Billy Keikeya]] "volunteers" her to join an off-ship mission to the ''[[Astral Queen]]'' ([[Bastille Day]]). Led by Captain [[Lee Adama]], the mission is to attempt enlistment of prisoners aboard the ''Astral Queen'' in resupplying ''Galactica'' with water following an act of sabotage ([[Water]]). During the mission, the team is taken hostage by prisoners during a jail break lead by fellow Sagittaron and political agitator [[Tom Zarek]].

Freed without personal harm during this situation, Dualla returns Billy Keikeya's affections, and they date during off-duty periods ([[Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down]]).

When a party of [[Cylon Centurion|Cylons]] boards the ''Galactica'', Dualla suffers a concussion, but survives the engagement ([[Valley of Darkness]]). Later, Dualla aids in [[Laura Roslin]]'s escape from ''Galactica'' after the President's arrest by covering up the tracks of their secret communications coordinating their movements in the Fleet, and getting Colonel Tigh to sign permission to close off a causeway which they use as an escape route. At this time, Dualla seems to take a greater personal interest in [[Lee Adama|Apollo]] ([[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]).

Dualla is assigned to give [[D'Anna Biers]] a tour around the battlestar as part of Biers' documentary of the ship ([[Final Cut]]). Lee Adama seems to return Dualla's personal attraction during a sparring exercise with the petty officer ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]).

Dualla's [[avionics]] training helps in building a stable communications package for the experimental [[Blackbird]] fighter ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]).

Keikeya, apparently attempting to solidify his relationship with the petty officer, proposes to Dualla, but she refuses. Keikeya later sees Dualla with Lee Adama on ''[[Cloud 9]]'' and accuses her of leading him on. Shortly after Keikeya's accusation, four terrorists commandeer the lounge and its occupants and demand the surrender of [[Sharon Valerii]]. When a ruse by Admiral [[William Adama]] is discovered, the [[Sesha Abinell|leader]] of the the terrorists orders Dualla's death. Keikeya intervenes and manages to shoot one of the terrorists, but Keikeya is also fatally wounded. In the same battle, Lee Adama is left severely wounded from a friendly-fire incident during an ill-fated reconnaissance by [[Kara Thrace]]. Dualla promises to watch over Lee Adama until he recovers in [[sickbay]]. When he finally regained consciousness, Dualla was so happy that neither of them noticed Thrace leaving the sickbay with a heartbroken expression ([[Sacrifice]]).

A few months later, still involved with Apollo, Dualla assists in the counting of ballots for the Presidential election. Dualla conspires with [[Tory Foster]] and [[Saul Tigh]] to rig the election in Roslin's favor, indicating that she comprehends the disaster that would follow if [[Gaius Baltar]] is elected. Though the plot initially succeeds, Lt. Gaeta's curiosity leads to Admiral Adama's discovery of the duplicity.

== Colonization of New Caprica ==

A few months later, Dualla has received a lieutenant's commission and is an officer now. Her transfer to ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'' was approved on Founders' Day - the official groundbreaking of [[New Caprica City]], but she is still trying to keep her relationship with Lee Adama from becoming too public.

On the night of Founders' Day, Lee Adama spends a night with Thrace. The following morning, however, upon seeing that Thrace and Anders eloped, Lee proposes to Dualla and holds her affectionately in public. Dualla is aware of his love for Thrace, but likely doesn't know that they slept together. However, she says that life is good at the moment and that they should make the best of it until the Cylons show up again. She tells Adama that this is the happiest state she has ever seen him in and agrees to marry him ([[Unfinished Business (Extended Version)]]).

She subsequently serves as communications and executive officer on ''Pegasus'', part of its skeletal crew in orbit around [[New Caprica]]. She answers the communication from Kara Thrace on New Caprica, who wants to ask Commander Adama for [[antibiotics]] for [[Samuel Anders|her husband]]. While Adama is on the phone, Dualla identifies sudden [[DRADIS]] contacts of a large [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] fleet ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]).

Four months after leaving New Caprica, [[William Adama|Admiral Adama]] decides to go through with a hazardous rescue operation. Dualla visibly disapproves of her father-in-law's decision to grant amnesty and a commission to [[Sharon Agathon]] and assign her as the liaison officer with the [[New Caprica Resistance]] ([[Precipice]]). Dualla tries to reassure her husband after Admiral Adama decides to take ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' alone on the New Caprica rescue mission ([[Exodus, Part I]]). She appears visibly pleased when her husband defies orders and sacrifices ''Pegasus'' to save ''Galactica'' and the reassembled Fleet ([[Exodus, Part II]]).

==After the Second Exodus==
Dualla returns periodically to her old post in ''Galactica's'' CIC after the Battle of New Caprica, but also has greater responsibilities in shepherding civilians on ''Galactica'' during a harrowing journey through a [[Passage (star cluster)|dangerous star cluster]] to a [[Algae planet|planet filled with edible algae]] ([[The Passage]]). Dualla and Samuel Anders are also witness to what appears to be both a feud and not-so-veiled affection between her husband and Anders' wife during a boxing match where Major Adama and Captain Thrace beat each other to exhaustion ([[Unfinished Business]]).

After Cylons arrive at the algae planet, Dualla must shift her time to coordinate a defensive plan for the mysterious [[Temple of Five]]. She is ordered by her husband to rescue Starbuck after her [[Raptor]] is downed by a Cylon missile. Despite being quite aware of her husband's affair with Thrace, she rescues Thrace, repairs the [[Computers in the Re-imagined Series#Avionics|avionics]], and, with Thrace's guidance, flies the Raptor back to ''Galactica'' herself despite her own lack of pilot training as Starbuck's hands are too badly burned for her to fly ("[[The Eye of Jupiter]]", "[[Rapture]]").

Dualla confronts her husband about their marriage and its problems. She believes it to be a lie, but indicates she will not interfere if Adama chose to pursue his relationship with Kara Thrace. Adama breaks off his affair and reconciles ([[Taking a Break From All Your Worries]]).

Dualla contracts [[Mellorak sickness]] as do many other fellow Sagittarons (housed [[Dogsville|as refugees]] on the battlestar). While Dualla does not share the same beliefs of other Sagittarons regarding medical care and the military, she seeks treatment from Dr. [[Michael Robert]], a civilian doctor, because her unspecified dislike for Doctor [[Cottle]]. A plot is soon discovered where the doctor is killing Sagittarons he treats, and [[Karl Agathon]] rushes in to save Dualla. Dualla's father thought that her enlistment in the [[Colonial Fleet (RDM)|Colonial Fleet Reserve]] was crazy, and he viewed the military as a joke. She signed up anyway because she "wanted to believe in something." This rift with her father would continue throughout her service and the last time they spoke they got in a heated argument; three weeks later the Cylons attacked, and Dualla never got a chance to reconcile with him ([[Final Cut]]). His rejection of her career choice stems from traditional Sagittaron [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies#Sagittaron beliefs|beliefs]] in pacifism, which Dualla does not share ([[The Woman King]]).

At the time of the [[Cylon attack]] she monitors Colonial Fleet communications traffic. Dualla is among the first to notice the unusually high levels of [[CNP|shipboard malfunctions and failures]] aboard other battlestars ([[Miniseries]]).

After the Fleet's [[Battle of Ragnar Anchorage|initial escape and pursuit]] by the Cylons, Dualla coordinates Fleet activities such as [[FTL]] jumps with Tactical Officer [[Felix Gaeta]]. In this responsibility, she discovers that the ''[[Olympic Carrier]]'' fails to jump with the fleet after yet another jump ([[33]]).

Due to his attraction to Dualla, presidential aide [[Billy Keikeya]] "volunteers" her to join an off-ship mission to the ''[[Astral Queen]]'' ([[Bastille Day]]). Led by Captain [[Lee Adama]], the mission is to attempt enlistment of prisoners aboard the ''Astral Queen'' in resupplying ''Galactica'' with water following an act of sabotage ([[Water]]). During the mission, the team is taken hostage by prisoners during a jail break lead by fellow Sagittaron and political agitator [[Tom Zarek]].

Freed without personal harm during this situation, Dualla returns Billy Keikeya's affections, and they date during off-duty periods ([[Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down]]).

When a party of [[Cylon Centurion|Cylons]] boards the ''Galactica'', Dualla suffers a concussion, but survives the engagement ([[Valley of Darkness]]). Later, Dualla aids in [[Laura Roslin]]'s escape from ''Galactica'' after the President's arrest by covering up the tracks of their secret communications coordinating their movements in the Fleet, and getting Colonel Tigh to sign permission to close off a causeway which they use as an escape route. At this time, Dualla seems to take a greater personal interest in [[Lee Adama|Apollo]] ([[Resistance (episode)|Resistance]]).

Dualla is assigned to give [[D'Anna Biers]] a tour around the battlestar as part of Biers' documentary of the ship ([[Final Cut]]). Lee Adama seems to return Dualla's personal attraction during a sparring exercise with the petty officer ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]).

Dualla's [[avionics]] training helps in building a stable communications package for the experimental [[Blackbird]] fighter ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]).

Keikeya, apparently attempting to solidify his relationship with the petty officer, proposes to Dualla, but she refuses. Keikeya later sees Dualla with Lee Adama on ''[[Cloud 9]]'' and accuses her of leading him on. Shortly after Keikeya's accusation, four terrorists commandeer the lounge and its occupants and demand the surrender of [[Sharon Valerii]]. When a ruse by Admiral [[William Adama]] is discovered, the [[Sesha Abinell|leader]] of the the terrorists orders Dualla's death. Keikeya intervenes and manages to shoot one of the terrorists, but Keikeya is also fatally wounded. In the same battle, Lee Adama is left severely wounded from a friendly-fire incident during an ill-fated reconnaissance by [[Kara Thrace]]. Dualla promises to watch over Lee Adama until he recovers in [[sickbay]]. When he finally regained consciousness, Dualla was so happy that neither of them noticed Thrace leaving the sickbay with a heartbroken expression ([[Sacrifice]]).

A few months later, still involved with Apollo, Dualla assists in the counting of ballots for the Presidential election. Dualla conspires with [[Tory Foster]] and [[Saul Tigh]] to rig the election in Roslin's favor, indicating that she comprehends the disaster that would follow if [[Gaius Baltar]] is elected. Though the plot initially succeeds, Lt. Gaeta's curiosity leads to Admiral Adama's discovery of the duplicity.

== Colonization of New Caprica ==

A few months later, Dualla has received a lieutenant's commission and is an officer now. Her transfer to ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'' was approved on Founders' Day - the official groundbreaking of [[New Caprica City]], but she is still trying to keep her relationship with Lee Adama from becoming too public.

On the night of Founders' Day, Lee Adama spends a night with Thrace. The following morning, however, upon seeing that Thrace and Anders eloped, Lee proposes to Dualla and holds her affectionately in public. Dualla is aware of his love for Thrace, but likely doesn't know that they slept together. However, she says that life is good at the moment and that they should make the best of it until the Cylons show up again. She tells Adama that this is the happiest state she has ever seen him in and agrees to marry him ([[Unfinished Business (Extended Version)]]).

She subsequently serves as communications and executive officer on ''Pegasus'', part of its skeletal crew in orbit around [[New Caprica]]. She answers the communication from Kara Thrace on New Caprica, who wants to ask Commander Adama for [[antibiotics]] for [[Samuel Anders|her husband]]. While Adama is on the phone, Dualla identifies sudden [[DRADIS]] contacts of a large [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] fleet ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]).

Four months after leaving New Caprica, [[William Adama|Admiral Adama]] decides to go through with a hazardous rescue operation. Dualla visibly disapproves of her father-in-law's decision to grant amnesty and a commission to [[Sharon Agathon]] and assign her as the liaison officer with the [[New Caprica Resistance]] ([[Precipice]]). Dualla tries to reassure her husband after Admiral Adama decides to take ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]'' alone on the New Caprica rescue mission ([[Exodus, Part I]]). Number Six also says they must find the humans because "The Mission, the Project, require it": this was probably Carver alluding to the human/Cylon hybridization project which began to be revealed by mid-late season 1 when he was writing the novelization. In interviews Ron Moore has actually confirmed that the Cylons are actively trying to outright destroy ''Galactica'' and the refugee fleet, and have no great need to capture them for their hybridization experiments, as they already have enough captured humans on the occupied Twelve Colonies. This seems to be educated speculation by Carver <ref name="page318"/>.

As you may already know, Battlestar Wiki covers all the ''Battlestar Galactica'' series from past to present, in addition to authorized merchandise. Presently, we don't cover fan fiction, but our sister-site, [[bsp:|Battlestar Pegasus]], does so. We're also not a discussion site, although we do have an ever-growing [http://www.battlestarforum.com Battlestar Forum] where people can discuss the various shows and non-BSG topics as well!

To get started on the wiki, we suggest that you check out our [[BW:TUT|tutorial]], experiment in [[BW:SAND|the sandbox]] (a test editing area for those learning wiki code), and review some of our basic [[BW:POL|policies]] (which have important differences from other SF wikis).
