During her tenure on ''Galactica'', she falls in love with her boss, [[Galen Tyrol]]. Despite this, she and fellow deckhand [[Socinus]], cover for Galen Tyrol on various occasions during Galen Tyrol's sexual interludes with [[Sharon Valerii|Sharon "Boomer" Valerii]], until Valerii is revealed as a [[humanoid Cylon]]. After this revelation, and a near death experience on [[Kobol (RDM)|Kobol]], Henderson's anger and hatred for the Cylons leads her to "kill" Valerii during Valerii's transfer to a newly constructed brig.

Given 30 days in hack for unauthorized discharge of a firearm, she is lauded by her fellow crew members as a hero after he release. A year later on [[New Caprica]], Henderson is married to Tyrol (taking his surname) and is pregnant with his child ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]). Their son, [[Nicholas Tyrol|Nicholas]] (named after her grandfather), is born and lives with the couple as of the 67th day of the New Caprica occupation by the Cylons ([[Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance#Episode 1|The Resistance, Episode 1]]). Knowing her husband's test of faith after discovering that Brother [[Cavil]] was a humanoid Cylon, Tyrol is pleased for plans of a [[dedication ceremony]] for her new son ([[Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance|The Resistance, Episode 4]]).

Following suicide attacks by the insurgency led in part by her husband, Cally Tyrol is picked up by members of the [[New Caprica Police]] in a night-time raid. [[James Lyman|James "Jammer" Lyman]], in his role with the NCP, discovers that she has been earmarked for execution, and asks [[Sharon Valerii]] to save her life. Valerii remarks that she does not know what she can do, as internal security is under the proviso of a different ministry. Henderson angrily tells Valerii to "go away and leave us alone" if she can't help her ([[Precipice]]).

Lyman later cuts her bonds and allows her to escape from the detention group slated for execution in a remote location. Chief Tyrol, arriving with a resistance sniper team, pushes his running wife out of the resistance's line of fire as they destroy the [[Cylon Centurion]] firing squad. She and her son hide in the resistance's underground bunker ([[Exodus, Part I]]).

==After New Caprica==

Cally Tyrol and her family are [[Exodus, Part II|evacuated]] along with most of the human population of [[New Caprica]]. She is next seen resting on a bunk with her son in a room overcrowded with refugees. Her husband visits her after he and the [[Circle]] secretly execute [[James Lyman]] for having collaborated with the Cylons. Before his death, Lyman tells Galen that he saved his wife on the planet. When Galen inquires as to how she escaped the execution and if anyone helped her, she replies that [[New Caprica Police|"one of these goons"]] set her free. She asks her husband how he knows about that, apparently unaware of his role in the Circle ([[Collaborators]]). Later she is working alongside Chief Tyrol on the hangar deck again. It is unknown specifically who babysits their son Nicholas when both parents are working ([[Torn]]), but formal daycare arrangements seems to have been established for families with dependent children ([[A Day In The Life]]) that the Tyrols use.

Tyrol attends the ship-wide boxing match with her husband and son and watches from the sidelines as her husband fights and defeats Admiral [[William Adama|Adama]] ([[Unfinished Business]]). She recovers from [[w:Decompression sickness|decompression sickness]] injuries sustained in an explosive decompression incident while being rescued from a depressurizing airlock along with her husband ([[A Day In The Life]]).

Tyrol's relationship with her husband deteriorates as he becomes consumed with his discovery, unknown to her, that he is a Cylon. She grows angry at his constant absence, some of which is due to his meeting with fellow Cylons [[Tory Foster|Foster]], [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]], and [[Samuel Anders|Anders]]. Moreover, she develops a sleeping disorder and becomes reliant on medication. Awakening one night to find him out of bed and out of their quarters, she finds him in [[Joe's bar]] with Foster and witnesses Foster making a pass at him. Tyrol confronts him in a rage, assuming that he is having an affair.

Later, she finds a note in their cabin with instructions for a time and place for a meeting. Thinking that it is a note from Foster, she goes to the place of the rendezvous, only to discover her husband, Tigh, and Foster going into a weapons locker together and closing the hatch. She opens a panel in the corridor and squeezes into a crawlspace where she can hear what her husband and the others are saying. To her horror, she discovers that her husband is a Cylon. She makes a noise, which the others hear. In her flight from the crawlspace, Tyrol leaves the wall panel ajar, which Foster discovers. When Galen returns to their cabin, she knocks him unconscious with a heavy wrench and then takes [[Nicholas Tyrol|Nicky]] to the [[hangar deck]], intending to commit murder-suicide by expelling him and herself out a Viper [[launch tube]]. Before she can do so, Foster shows up, convinces her to stop, and then offers to carry Nicky. As soon as Tyrol turns her son over, however, Foster knocks her down and takes Nicky into the control room, from which she expels Tyrol into space. The scene ends with a final shot of Tyrol's frozen, dead face drifting in space ([[The Ties That Bind]]).

==Notes==
*Cally's full name was not known during the first 2 seasons of the series (even though she is a character that has appeared since the opening minutes of the Miniseries), and during this entire time was known simply as "Cally". It was unknown then whether "Cally" was her given name or her surname; many assumed it was her surname and referred to her as "Specialist Cally" (in "[[The Farm]]", Chief Tyrol referred to her as "Specialist Cally"). However, actress Nicki Clyne, who plays Cally, has said she always thought of it as her character's given name. Her full name "Cally Henderson" was used in Season 3 to label props such as her locker, but isn't visible on screen. She took on Chief [[Galen Tyrol]]'s surname after marrying him. After the character's death, Henderson's complete birth name, Callandra, is revealed at her funeral service in "[[Escape Velocity]]".

However, the recovered medkit is too late to save Socinus, which greatly saddens Henderson ([[Valley of Darkness]]).

Henderson is so terrified that she freezes in place. Losing control, Crashdown threatens to shoot her if she does not obey. A year later on [[New Caprica]], Henderson is married to Tyrol (taking his surname) and is pregnant with his child ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]). Their son, [[Nicholas Tyrol|Nicholas]] (named after her grandfather), is born and lives with the couple as of the 67th day of the New Caprica occupation by the Cylons ([[Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance#Episode 1|The Resistance, Episode 1]]). Knowing her husband's test of faith after discovering that Brother [[Cavil]] was a humanoid Cylon, Tyrol is pleased for plans of a [[dedication ceremony]] for her new son ([[Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance|The Resistance, Episode 4]]).

Following suicide attacks by the insurgency led in part by her husband, Cally Tyrol is picked up by members of the [[New Caprica Police]] in a night-time raid. [[James Lyman|James "Jammer" Lyman]], in his role with the NCP, discovers that she has been earmarked for execution, and asks [[Sharon Valerii]] to save her life. Valerii remarks that she does not know what she can do, as internal security is under the proviso of a different ministry. Henderson angrily tells Valerii to "go away and leave us alone" if she can't help her ([[Precipice]]).

Lyman later cuts her bonds and allows her to escape from the detention group slated for execution in a remote location. Chief Tyrol, arriving with a resistance sniper team, pushes his running wife out of the resistance's line of fire as they destroy the [[Cylon Centurion]] firing squad. She and her son hide in the resistance's underground bunker ([[Exodus, Part I]]).

==After New Caprica==

Cally Tyrol and her family are [[Exodus, Part II|evacuated]] along with most of the human population of [[New Caprica]]. She is next seen resting on a bunk with her son in a room overcrowded with refugees. Her husband visits her after he and the [[Circle]] secretly execute [[James Lyman]] for having collaborated with the Cylons. Before his death, Lyman tells Galen that he saved his wife on the planet. When Galen inquires as to how she escaped the execution and if anyone helped her, she replies that [[New Caprica Police|"one of these goons"]] set her free. She asks her husband how he knows about that, apparently unaware of his role in the Circle ([[Collaborators]]). Later she is working alongside Chief Tyrol on the hangar deck again. It is unknown specifically who babysits their son Nicholas when both parents are working ([[Torn]]), but formal daycare arrangements seems to have been established for families with dependent children ([[A Day In The Life]]) that the Tyrols use.

Tyrol attends the ship-wide boxing match with her husband and son and watches from the sidelines as her husband fights and defeats Admiral [[William Adama|Adama]] ([[Unfinished Business]]). She recovers from [[w:Decompression sickness|decompression sickness]] injuries sustained in an explosive decompression incident while being rescued from a depressurizing airlock along with her husband ([[A Day In The Life]]).

==Death==

Tyrol's relationship with her husband deteriorates as he becomes consumed with his discovery, unknown to her, that he is a Cylon. She grows angry at his constant absence, some of which is due to his meeting with fellow Cylons [[Tory Foster|Foster]], [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]], and [[Samuel Anders|Anders]]. Moreover, she develops a sleeping disorder and becomes reliant on medication. Awakening one night to find him out of bed and out of their quarters, she finds him in [[Joe's bar]] with Foster and witnesses Foster making a pass at him. Tyrol confronts him in a rage, assuming that he is having an affair.

Later, she finds a note in their cabin with instructions for a time and place for a meeting. Thinking that it is a note from Foster, she goes to the place of the rendezvous, only to discover her husband, Tigh, and Foster going into a weapons locker together and closing the hatch. She opens a panel in the corridor and squeezes into a crawlspace where she can hear what her husband and the others are saying. To her horror, she discovers that her husband is a Cylon. She makes a noise, which the others hear. In her flight from the crawlspace, Tyrol leaves the wall panel ajar, which Foster discovers. When Galen returns to their cabin, she knocks him unconscious with a heavy wrench and then takes [[Nicholas Tyrol|Nicky]] to the [[hangar deck]], intending to commit murder-suicide by expelling him and herself out a Viper [[launch tube]]. Before she can do so, Foster shows up, convinces her to stop, and then offers to carry Nicky. As soon as Tyrol turns her son over, however, Foster knocks her down and takes Nicky into the control room, from which she expels Tyrol into space. The scene ends with a final shot of Tyrol's frozen, dead face drifting in space ([[The Ties That Bind]]).

*Cally's full name was not known during the first 2 seasons of the series (even though she is a character that has appeared since the opening minutes of the Miniseries), and during this entire time was known simply as "Cally". It was unknown then whether "Cally" was her given name or her surname; many assumed it was her surname and referred to her as "Specialist Cally" (in "[[The Farm]]", Chief Tyrol referred to her as "Specialist Cally"). However, actress Nicki Clyne, who plays Cally, has said she always thought of it as her character's given name. '''Louanne "Kat" Katraine''' was the assumed name of a young woman named Sasha, a drug runner on [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] with flying experience ([[The Passage]]). She is selected as a candidate pilot ("[[nugget]]") for [[Viper (RDM)|Viper]] training under the command of Lieutenant [[Kara Thrace|Kara "Starbuck" Thrace]] ([[Act of Contrition]]). == Biography ==

Katraine's real name is actually Sasha. She took the name "Louanne Katraine" from a girl who died two days before [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|the attack]]. She was a drug runner in the [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies]] working for a person named [[Enzo]] ([[The Passage]]).

Katraine is selected from relative obscurity to become one of ''[[Galactica]]'''s first intake of trainee pilots after 13 experienced pilots were killed in a freak accident ([[Act of Contrition]]).

Described as a "boonie jumper", Katraine is placed under the instruction of [[Kara Thrace]], alongside nugget pilots [[Brendan Costanza]] and [[Donald Perry]], with whom she forms a friendship.

Thrown in at the deep end - flying [[Viper (RDM)|Vipers]] on their very first day of training, none of the nuggets perform particularly well - Kat in particular fails to make a [[combat landing]] on ''Galactica''. Thrace washes out the entire group of candidates until Commander [[William Adama]] later forces Thrace to reinstate them.

Katraine's training continues until she is selected to fly with [[Lee Adama]] during a raid to secure a [[tylium]] mine from the Cylons ([[The Hand of God (RDM)|The Hand of God]]). Her fellow nuggets [[Donald Perry]] and [[Stepchild]] are killed in this action, but she and [[Brendan Costanza|Hot Dog]] survive and are greeted as heroes on their return to ''Galactica''.

Kat participates in the defense of ''Galactica'' when the battlestar becomes separated from [[The Fleet (RDM)|the Fleet]], and has to face down a Cylon [[Basestar (RDM)|basestar]] in order to relocate it ([[Scattered]]).

After Lee Adama's defection to the [[Laura Roslin faction]], his replacement, the newly promoted Captain [[George Birch]] negligently endangers Katraine during a training exercise. She is almost killed when Birch incorrectly directs her to attack an asteroid target as [[Brendan Costanza|Hot Dog]] fires a missile at the target. Katraine's improving piloting skills save her from a dangerous collision with debris ([[Home, Part I]]).

Kat is later promoted from cadet to the rank of lieutenant. She becomes increasingly exhausted with the mounting pressures of service in the Fleet with long hours, constant danger, and no possiblity of reinforcement. While trying to combat her fatigue, Kat becomes dependent on [[stims]], of which the effects of their overuse make her emotionally unstable. She "moons" a documentary crew for her "buddies" on [[Freighter 212]], berates Chief [[Galen Tyrol|Tyrol]] for mechanical failures that are beyond his control, and later crashes her Viper into the [[landing bay]], totalling the vehicle ("[[Final Cut]]", "[[Flight of the Phoenix]]"). She is pulled from flight status for some time, but is reinstated by the time that the advanced battlestar ''Pegasus'' joins the Fleet , when she flies wingman to [[Lee Adama|Apollo]] on [[Combat Air Patrol|CAP]] when first contact is made with ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]''.

In the wake of Admiral Cain's integration of ''Galactica'' and ''Pegasus''' officers, Kat appears to have been made the acting-CAG of ''Galactica'' flight team. With Starbuck and Apollo both transferred to ''Pegasus'' and the failure of Cpt. [[George Birch]] as [[CAG]] during Lee Adama's absence, Katraine appears to be the most likely choice to fill the command vacuum. She is flight leader of the Viper wing that stands off against the ''Pegasus'' Vipers. In spite of making repeated requests for firing clearance, she manages to keep the situation from degenerating into a fire fight, and avoids several collision attempts in the fighters' deadly "chicken" game, each attempting to force the other side to fire first ([[Resurrection Ship, Part I]]).

On day 189 of the human exodus, Kat is assigned CAP with [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]]. Kat's maturity and past insensitivity show growth when Starbuck orders her to stop her small talk about Starbuck's off-hours behavior, which Kat does so without skipping a beat and returns to business by requesting permission to do a weapons check. As Kat test-fires her Viper's guns, an ammo misfire destroys Kat's port gun and sends debris at Starbuck's Viper, cracking her cockpit window. The two declare an emergency and safely return to ''Galactica.'' The cause of the malfunction was soon determined to be sabotage later blamed on a civilian ammunition worker that is part of the [[Demand Peace]] movement ([[Epiphanies]]).

Katraine is more than personally upset with Starbuck's apparent behavior issues and doesn't really care. While Kat obviously admires Kara Thrace, she tires quickly of Starbuck's drinking and bragging, which is affecting her work, and in turn affecting the pilots, especially the [[nugget]]s. Fed up with Starbuck's lording over the "Top Gun" beer stein as well as the rampaging Raider ace known as "[[Scar (Raider)|Scar]]," Kat makes a bet with Starbuck on who will destroy the morale-sucking Raider first.

Kat manages pilot combat reviews, having become a highly skilled tactical pilot herself. She grimaces at Starbuck's inefficiencies and chimes in often to correct or chide Starbuck, much to Thrace's chagrin. Things come to a head in their rivalry when Kat openly criticizes Starbuck for substituting [[Jo-Jo]] for patrol rather than flying herself (she awoke that morning hungover and unable to fly). Jo-Jo and his wingman are both killed, and Kat is incensed. But instead of Starbuck delivering the first punch, it's Kat that delivers it. Their fight is interrupted by Captain [[Lee Adama|Adama]], who orders them on patrol near the [[Big Spud]]. Kat and Starbuck find Scar, and Starbuck's Viper is damaged in a near-successful ambush. The consummate wingman, Kat continually speaks to Starbuck to get a bearing, although Starbuck resists out of pride rather than working jointly to destroy Scar. When Starbuck realizes that because of [[Samuel Anders]] she doesn't want to die in order to take Scar with her, she guides Kat in to her position, where Kat delivers the killing blow to Scar.

Kat chides Starbuck once more in the pilot's recreation room as she holds the Top Gun mug. Starbuck pours champagne in the mug and tells Kat, "You've earned it." Kat's slight smile in response is not only that of smugness, but also that of honor - for Starbuck to tell her that she was (at least for the time being) the best - is pleasing as a master would compliment a student ([[Scar]]). Kat's smugness is short-lived, as Starbuck offers a toast to all the pilots who died during their flight from the colonies. Overwhelmed with the memory of lost comrades, Kat nearly bursts into tears.

By the time of the Cylon invasion of [[New Caprica]], with Lee Adama in command of ''Pegasus'' and Kara Thrace having left the fleet and settled planetside, Katraine has been promoted to ''Galactica'''s [[CAG]] ([[Exodus, Part I]]). During the [[Battle of New Caprica]], she leads a group of Vipers escorting decoy [[Raptor]]s, and presumably assists in the defense of ''Galactica'' in the following space battle ([[Exodus, Part II]]). Following the destruction of ''Pegasus'', Lee Adama returns to ''Galactica'' and replaces Katraine as the CAG, who in turn becomes a squadron leader ("[[Torn]]", "[[The Passage]]").

During a food shortage throughout the fleet, ''Galactica'''s pilots are tasked with safely guiding the civilian ships through a highly radioactive star cluster to a food source on the other side. During this time Katraine encounters [[Enzo]], who survived the attack and calls her by her real name, Sasha. Enzo confronts Katraine and threatens to reveal Kat's past to others unless she helps him. Thrace observes the argument and later confronts Enzo about it, who in turn reveals Katraine's secret to Thrace. Katraine confirms it to Thrace, who is angered over the secret, even suggesting that Kat could have possibly unknowingly aiding the Cylons in their infiltration of Caprica. Katraine begs Thrace not to tell Admiral Adama, saying that she wants to tell him herself.

Before the final trip through the passage, Katraine, who had already received a deadly dose of radiation on earlier trips, switches radiation badges with Helo. During the final trip, she loses track of the ''[[Faru Sadin]]'', but remains in the passage until she finds the vessel and joins the rest of the Fleet on the other side. Upon landing, Katraine is celebrated as a hero, but then succumbs to radiation poisoning and collapses on the flight deck.

On her deathbed, Katraine summons Thrace for a final reconciliation, and receives from Thrace an apology and a supply of [[sleeping pills]], enough for an overdose that would allow her to die painlessly. Admiral Adama also comes to visit Katraine and informs her of her promotion to CAG again. Kat tries telling him the truth about her past, but he cuts her off, saying he doesn't need to know any more than what she did while serving under him. He pulls up a chair to sit watch over her, and comforts her with how the sickbay reminds him of when his son, [[Zak Adama|Zak]], was born, and how he and Carolanne had wanted a girl. After Katraine's death, Admiral Adama symbolically replaces Lee Adama's name with hers in the pilot roster board's CAG slot while the pilots observe in silence. Thrace goes to the [[memorial hallway|wall of remembrance]] and adds Katraine's photo ([[The Passage]]).

Gaeta has a solution for the logic bomb: Wipe all computer hard drives and restore them from backups made before the Cylon attack. The problem in doing this is that ''Galactica'' will be completely vulnerable to attack, save for her Viper fighters, for several minutes as her computers are rebuilt.

Against his instincts and on [[Laura Roslin]]'s advice, Adama opts to use the unique abilities of the cooperative [[Sharon Valerii|Caprica copy of Sharon Valerii]] to aid them. Gaeta gives the humanoid Cylon a fiber-optic data link with access to the battlestar mainframe computer and the ship's communications. After a few tense moments, Valerii asks Gaeta to perform the computer hard drive wipe after taking into her computer/brain a copy of the Cylon virus. == The Presidential Election and New Caprica ==

During the presidential election, Gaeta is assigned to aid and oversee the ballot counting process on ''Galactica''. He also aids in thwarting Roslin's plans to steal the election (though he apparently never knew -- or indicates any knowledge of -- who exactly is behind it, other than Colonel [[Saul Tigh]]) by discovering the illegitimate ballots from the ''[[Zephyr]]''. The only reason he realizes that the ''Zephyr'''s ballots were tampered with is due to the fact that the ''Zephyr''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s original, valid ballots had misspelled Gaius Baltar's name -- the fixed ballots did not share this error. (Gaeta had authorized the go-ahead to use the misspelled ballots due to the lack of time to print new ones prior to the opening of the polls.)
Due to this happenstance discovery, Baltar, who had been rightfully voted as President-Elect, was sworn in as president and ordered the Fleet to colonize [[New Caprica]].

A year later on [[New Caprica]], Gaeta seems to be an adviser to President [[Gaius Baltar]]. His previous post on ''Galactica'' is assumed by [[Karl Agathon]]. While Gaeta is pleased that there had been no Cylon attacks during Baltar's presidency, he disapproves of Baltar's womanizing and is secretly infuriated at Baltar's devil-may-care attitude towards the New Caprica City Worker's Union and the Quorum of Twelve. Gaeta later brings news of the Cylon invasion to the president and is present when Baltar surrenders New Caprica to [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Number Five]] ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]).

Gaeta is also the [[New Caprica Resistance]] inside source into the inner workings of the Cylons. He seems to favor an assassination of President Baltar as he provides the group with information that he is going to attend the [[New Caprica Police]] force graduation, which is disrupted by [[Duck]]'s suicide bombing. However, upon learning that Baltar would not attend, he rushes to contact the group to warn them Baltar that is not going to be there ([[Occupation]]).

== Inside Man ==
Being the "inside man" allows him to help the [[New Caprica Resistance]] understand the inner Cylon related activities and security procedures on [[New Caprica]]. For him to contact the group, he flips [[Jake (New Caprica)|Jake]]'s yellow bowl upside down and leaves a note or information packet in a nearby tool bin for the [[New Caprica Resistance|resistance]] to find. [[Galen Tyrol]] does not know that he is the "inside man" and when they talk, Tyrol accuses him of being a collaborator ([[Precipice]]).

Around the same time, Gaeta is seduced by a [[Number Eight]]. Believing that he can trust her, he gives her lists with names of human prisoners. The Eight promises to do what she can to save them, but only has a few token humans freed and the rest executed for being valuable to the humans. Gaeta only learns of her betrayal much later (''[[The Face of the Enemy]]'').

== End of the Baltar Administration ==
As the Cylons are preparing to evacuate during the [[Battle of New Caprica]], Gaeta pulls a gun on a distraught President Baltar, clearly intending to kill him. [[Caprica-Six]] attempts to dissuade Gaeta from this course of action. In contrast to his companion's feelings, Baltar seems fully willing to die; but he tells Gaeta that he is the only one who could stop a [[Number Three]]-model Cylon from detonating a nuclear weapon hidden somewhere in the city of New Caprica. This convinces the reluctant Gaeta to let Baltar go, giving the disgraced leader a chance to redeem himself. Gaeta emerges from the same ship behind Colonel Tigh when Tigh asks Admiral Adama for permission to come aboard ''Galactica'' during the post-battle celebration ([[Exodus, Part II]]).

== Return to Duty ==
Gaeta is initially isolated from ''Galactica'''s crew and those who were on New Caprica. Because of his high position in the collaborationist government, they believe he carried out the will of the Cylons. When he arrives in CIC to help with repairs on the communication systems damaged during the recent battle, former resistance leader Colonel Tigh is openly hostile towards him. Gaeta attempts to defend his actions in a tense conversation with [[Kara Thrace]] by revealing himself as Tyrol's mysterious informant. Starbuck doesn't know about the informant, since she was a captive of [[Leoben Conoy]] during the four-month Cylon occupation. She mocks her crewmate and dismisses his revelation as a poorly fabricated lie.

When Gaeta's name comes up for review in the the [[Circle]], he is convicted of collaborating with the enemy and sentenced to death, despite the lack of evidence against him. The six-person tribunal takes him to a Viper [[launch tubes (RDM)|launch tube]] to face his sentence. When asked to defend himself, Gaeta says that he already had and refuses to beg for his life. This infuriates [[Kara Thrace]], who lashes out at him in a physical attack and resumes the mocking she started in the mess hall. Upon hearing Thrace repeat information about the [[Jake (New Caprica)|dog bowl]], Galen Tyrol realizes that Gaeta was indeed the informant from inside the Baltar administration. Gaeta is released and allowed to go. He resumes his duties as a lieutenant, still shunned by most of his crewmates except Tyrol ([[Collaborators]]).

After his recommissioning, he takes over Baltar's scientific duties, concentrating on deciphering his notes and determining the course to Earth. Gaeta appears to have a grudge against Tigh for his part in the Circle that nearly ended in Gaeta's death, as he wears a scowl while everyone else celebrates Tigh's return from his self-exile.

== Animosity towards Baltar ==

Baltar is aware of Gaeta's relationship with the Eight on New Caprica. During an interrogation, he whispers to Gaeta, "I know what your Eight did".. However, he is stopped and knocked out by Admiral Adama ("[[Taking a Break from All Your Worries]]", ''[[The Face of the Enemy]]'') <ref>In "Taking a Break From All Your Worries", Baltar's words can't be heard. This was originally the remnant of a subplot that was cut from the storyline and later retconned in order to provide an explanation for Gaeta's reaction. When he is relieved by Thrace, she appoints Gaeta as her new [[XO]] and gives him the same order. Like Agathon, Gaeta refuses to comply with the order, creating a standoff between the ship's officers which leads Agathon to relieve Thrace of command ([[The Road Less Traveled]]). During this standoff Anders shoots Gaeta in the leg before he can initiate a jump back to ''Galactica''. Having to wait 15 hours for a Raptor to return, Gaeta is worried that he will lose his leg because of the lack of proper medical treatement ([[Faith]]).

Returned to ''Galactica'', Gaeta does lose his leg. In recovery, he deals with the stress and phantom pain by singing a [[Gaeta's Lament|mournful ballad]] over and over ([[Guess What's Coming to Dinner?]]). Shortly later, he returns to duty, still in pain from his ordeal, but refusing to be relieved ([[Revelations]]).

Gaeta is among the tense officers and crew in CIC that witness a standoff between their battlestar and the heavily-advanced battlestar ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'', whose commander, Admiral [[Helena Cain]], has opted to execute two ''Galactica'' crew members after she tried them herself and against Adama's requests for the rights of his crew to have a fair, open trial ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]).

== The Presidential Election and New Caprica ==

During the presidential election, Gaeta is assigned to aid and oversee the ballot counting process on ''Galactica''. He also aids in thwarting Roslin's plans to steal the election (though he apparently never knew -- or indicates any knowledge of -- who exactly is behind it, other than Colonel [[Saul Tigh]]) by discovering the illegitimate ballots from the ''[[Zephyr]]''. The only reason he realizes that the ''Zephyr'''s ballots were tampered with is due to the fact that the ''Zephyr''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s original, valid ballots had misspelled Gaius Baltar's name -- the fixed ballots did not share this error. (Gaeta had authorized the go-ahead to use the misspelled ballots due to the lack of time to print new ones prior to the opening of the polls.)
Due to this happenstance discovery, Baltar, who had been rightfully voted as President-Elect, was sworn in as president and ordered the Fleet to colonize [[New Caprica]].

A year later on [[New Caprica]], Gaeta seems to be an adviser to President [[Gaius Baltar]]. His previous post on ''Galactica'' is assumed by [[Karl Agathon]]. While Gaeta is pleased that there had been no Cylon attacks during Baltar's presidency, he disapproves of Baltar's womanizing and is secretly infuriated at Baltar's devil-may-care attitude towards the New Caprica City Worker's Union and the Quorum of Twelve. Gaeta later brings news of the Cylon invasion to the president and is present when Baltar surrenders New Caprica to [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Number Five]] ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]).

Gaeta is also the [[New Caprica Resistance]] inside source into the inner workings of the Cylons. He seems to favor an assassination of President Baltar as he provides the group with information that he is going to attend the [[New Caprica Police]] force graduation, which is disrupted by [[Duck]]'s suicide bombing. However, upon learning that Baltar would not attend, he rushes to contact the group to warn them Baltar that is not going to be there ([[Occupation]]).

== Inside Man ==
Being the "inside man" allows him to help the [[New Caprica Resistance]] understand the inner Cylon related activities and security procedures on [[New Caprica]]. For him to contact the group, he flips [[Jake (New Caprica)|Jake]]'s yellow bowl upside down and leaves a note or information packet in a nearby tool bin for the [[New Caprica Resistance|resistance]] to find. [[Galen Tyrol]] does not know that he is the "inside man" and when they talk, Tyrol accuses him of being a collaborator ([[Precipice]]).

Around the same time, Gaeta is seduced by a [[Number Eight]]. Believing that he can trust her, he gives her lists with names of human prisoners. The Eight promises to do what she can to save them, but only has a few token humans freed and the rest executed for being valuable to the humans. Gaeta only learns of her betrayal much later (''[[The Face of the Enemy]]'').

== End of the Baltar Administration ==
As the Cylons are preparing to evacuate during the [[Battle of New Caprica]], Gaeta pulls a gun on a distraught President Baltar, clearly intending to kill him. [[Caprica-Six]] attempts to dissuade Gaeta from this course of action. In contrast to his companion's feelings, Baltar seems fully willing to die; but he tells Gaeta that he is the only one who could stop a [[Number Three]]-model Cylon from detonating a nuclear weapon hidden somewhere in the city of New Caprica. This convinces the reluctant Gaeta to let Baltar go, giving the disgraced leader a chance to redeem himself. Gaeta emerges from the same ship behind Colonel Tigh when Tigh asks Admiral Adama for permission to come aboard ''Galactica'' during the post-battle celebration ([[Exodus, Part II]]).

== Return to Duty ==
Gaeta is initially isolated from ''Galactica'''s crew and those who were on New Caprica. Because of his high position in the collaborationist government, they believe he carried out the will of the Cylons. When he arrives in CIC to help with repairs on the communication systems damaged during the recent battle, former resistance leader Colonel Tigh is openly hostile towards him. Gaeta attempts to defend his actions in a tense conversation with [[Kara Thrace]] by revealing himself as Tyrol's mysterious informant. Starbuck doesn't know about the informant, since she was a captive of [[Leoben Conoy]] during the four-month Cylon occupation. She mocks her crewmate and dismisses his revelation as a poorly fabricated lie.

When Gaeta's name comes up for review in the the [[Circle]], he is convicted of collaborating with the enemy and sentenced to death, despite the lack of evidence against him. The six-person tribunal takes him to a Viper [[launch tubes (RDM)|launch tube]] to face his sentence. When asked to defend himself, Gaeta says that he already had and refuses to beg for his life. This infuriates [[Kara Thrace]], who lashes out at him in a physical attack and resumes the mocking she started in the mess hall. Upon hearing Thrace repeat information about the [[Jake (New Caprica)|dog bowl]], Galen Tyrol realizes that Gaeta was indeed the informant from inside the Baltar administration. Gaeta is released and allowed to go. He resumes his duties as a lieutenant, still shunned by most of his crewmates except Tyrol ([[Collaborators]]).

After his recommissioning, he takes over Baltar's scientific duties, concentrating on deciphering his notes and determining the course to Earth. Gaeta appears to have a grudge against Tigh for his part in the Circle that nearly ended in Gaeta's death, as he wears a scowl while everyone else celebrates Tigh's return from his self-exile.

== Animosity towards Baltar ==

Baltar is aware of Gaeta's relationship with the Eight on New Caprica. During an interrogation, he whispers to Gaeta, "I know what your Eight did".. Baltar's knowledge leads Gaeta to try to kill him by stabbing him in the neck. However, he is stopped and knocked out by Admiral Adama ("[[Taking a Break from All Your Worries]]", ''[[The Face of the Enemy]]'') <ref>In "Taking a Break From All Your Worries", Baltar's words can't be heard. This was originally the remnant of a subplot that was cut from the storyline and later retconned in order to provide an explanation for Gaeta's reaction. See [[Taking a Break From All Your Worries#From the podcast]] for the original idea.</ref>.

During Baltar's trial for which he faces the death penalty, Gaeta commits perjury, claiming that he was there when Baltar signed the death lists and that Baltar offered no resistance in approving them ([[Crossroads, Part II]]).

== Member of the ''Demetrius'' Crew and Beyond ==

Later, Gaeta becomes part of the ''[[Demetrius]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s crew on its mission to find Earth ([[The Ties That Bind]]). After [[Kara Thrace]] orders [[Karl Agathon]] to jump to a Cylon [[Basestar (RDM)|baseship]] to retrieve information regarding Earth, Agathon refuses the order believing it to be too risky. When he is relieved by Thrace, she appoints Gaeta as her new [[XO]] and gives him the same order. Like Agathon, Gaeta refuses to comply with the order, creating a standoff between the ship's officers which leads Agathon to relieve Thrace of command ([[The Road Less Traveled]]). During this standoff Anders shoots Gaeta in the leg before he can initiate a jump back to ''Galactica''. Having to wait 15 hours for a Raptor to return, Gaeta is worried that he will lose his leg because of the lack of proper medical treatement ([[Faith]]).

Returned to ''Galactica'', Gaeta does lose his leg. In recovery, he deals with the stress and phantom pain by singing a [[Gaeta's Lament|mournful ballad]] over and over ([[Guess What's Coming to Dinner?]]). Shortly later, he returns to duty, still in pain from his ordeal, but refusing to be relieved ([[Revelations]]).

In the webisodes "[[The Face of the Enemy]]" it is revealed that Gaeta has been in a romantic relationship with [[communications officer]] Lieutenant [[Louis Hoshi]], though their relationship does not survive the webisode series.<ref>Writer's commentary to webisode 10; Gaeta ends the relationship in order to protect Hoshi from the fallout of what Gaeta is about to do.</ref>

*Gaeta does not wear any junior pilot wings on his duty uniform during the [[Miniseries]], but has flight wings in nearly every appearance since the Miniseries.
*While Gaeta is described as the "Tactical Officer", his role is closer to that of the US Navy's CIC Watch Officer (CICWO), combining it with elements of the Tactical Watch Officer (TAO), a role also partially fulfilled by Colonel [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]], both under the command of [[William Adama]]. According to the official SciFi.com character data file, Gaeta's title is "Senior Officer of the Watch", although the title of Tactical Officer may have a better "ring" to the ears of most viewers.
*The name "Felix" means "happy" in Latin; the connotations of the Latin word imply being fortunate, lucky, prosperous, or "favored by the gods". It first appeared in the episode "[[Final Cut]]".
