Why would they be casting "Head Baltar"? :That's probably why. I have a feeling that Baltar is going to be a bit of a "religious" personage, he'll probably be sporting quite the growth. == Seven of Nine ==

It seems like the name for this episode "Six of One" is a reference to the Star Trek: Voyager character Seven of Nine (another TV show that RMD had a hand in). On a personal note: I think that the name "Six of One" is about how Caprica Six will find true individuality, outside of the Cylon "Collective", or at least acceptance among the Galactica crew (like Athena). Any thoughts? Mishakal 00:20, 22 June 2007 (CDT)
:As noted on the page, the full idiom is "Six of one, half dozen of the other". The Cylons don't have that much similarities with the Borg and limited shared memories at most. --Serenity 01:14, 22 June 2007 (CDT)
:: True but it could also be an "easter egg" for the fans (like me) that have way to much time on their hands. Mishakal 01:35, 22 June 2007 (CDT)
:::There's also six known Cylons in the colonial fleet, and six unboxed Cylon models in the Cylon fleet. -- Gordon Ecker 20:00, 26 June 2007 (CDT)
::::What if they add a 13th Cylon to the mix? Just to throw us even more off than the whole "Saul is a Cylon". Mishakal 21:36, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
:::::There isn't any reason why there can't be another recently created Cylon model, but that falls under fanwanking rather than plausible speculation. -- Gordon Ecker 22:45, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
::::::I think its obviously based from the saying "Six of one, half dozen of the other". == Prisoner reference? ==

Given that Six's name is inspired by that very show, it seems it wouldn't be wholly off to say this might well be another reference. Anyone agree or disagree? DrWho42 23:35, 5 September 2007 (CDT)
* I'd be inclined to agree, but it might be best to leave it out unless the screenwriters say it was a reference, or the aired episode has more obvious Prisoner references (people saying "be seeing you", killer balloons, etc.) &mdash;Silly Dan (talk) 11:56, 17 February 2008 (CST)
If Baltar is really "the chosen one", Six Of One may be referring to his relationship and/or visions of Caprica Six. Xlynx
The Big Dee
Was that "getting the house" line from Lee an indication of a more permanent split between him and Dee? Or am I reading too much into it? --Steelviper 23:36, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
:Not sure, but the split seems kinda permanent now. And going back to Season 3, Dee entered the marriage fully aware that it might not last long, but is happy to be in it while it does. -- Serenity 23:42, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
:From the comments made in this episode, the split seems permanent. (Thank the Gods!) It is interesting that while Lee didn't have the balls to terminate the relationship, she did... But she knew that the relationship would've ended someday, so she was prepared for that possibility. I really, truthfully hope this means we'll get to see less of her this season, but given some of the comments about Dee having a "dark side" that'll come out this year, I sadly doubt it. -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 02:03, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
::I prefer that he made some effort to keep their relationship going in "Taking a Break...". Sure, Dualla is right, and the marriage was never a thing that could last for a long time, but Adama just dropping her when it isn't convenient anymore isn't any way to show "balls". == Questions ==

A few of the entries in the questions section seem dubious.
:"Why do the Raiders not want to destroy the Final Five, yet Number Ones, Fours and Fives do?"
IMO the answer is that Raiders don't have the intelligence or motivation to overcome their instincts / programming not to harm Cylons.
:"Will Tory Foster fall under Baltar's spell?"
She was crying in shame and disgust, so I don't consider this plausible.
:"Why was Foster crying during intercourse with Baltar?"
I think this question should be removed. In act 1, when Tigh suggested that Tori seduce Baltar, Tori was disgusted by the prospect, however she decided to go thorugh with the plan despite her revulsion. -- Gordon Ecker 23:59, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
:Having seen her with Anders, we definitely know the "always cries" line was bogus. --Steelviper 00:02, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
:I agree about the tears, but she seems to overcome that initial revulsion a bit, and even get into it at the end. Yes, the tears are probably from her disgust at the start, but that really changes and she even urges Baltar to continue and kisses him, instead of just leaving. And during the conversation, she seems to be captivated a bit by Baltar talking about music, before she leaves. The questions should be replaced by an analysis item or two exploring that. That's really more helpful and interesting than superficial questions. -- Serenity 00:08, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
::I've changed the first question, because the Ones, Fours, and Fives don't say that they want to destroy the Final Five. The others seem fair, as Tory seemed to be listening to Baltar. -- Noneofyourbusiness 00:41, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
:::If "fall under Baltar's spell" means "become another Baltar groupie", I think it's out of the question. If "fall under Baltar's spell" means "gradually become sympathetic to Baltar", it's plausible, but I think it should be rephrased. -- Gordon Ecker 02:06, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
::::I'll have to disagree, Gordon. There's more to Tory's crying than simple revulsion, although that's the feeling she had initially when Tigh proposed that she get close to Baltar. However with his mesmerizing bravo sierra about "music", his belief that Cylons are people, and that she doesn't quite know what to make of her "Cylon-ness", I have a feeling that she'll enter his cult, particularly since Roslin has one foot in the grave. Should be interesting how everything goes down, and I think we'll see more the next episode, given that Tory does something seriously bad ass for once. Bye, bye bitch. :D -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 02:11, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
:::::Joe's spot on. Baltar's never had any problems with the ladies, especially Cylon ladies. First of all, Tigh didn't suggest that she sleeps with Baltar. This should be corrected in the article. He said "You don't have to get on your back for him". She could have just flirted and strung him along until she found if he knows something.
Second, she really didn't have to sleep with Baltar, especially since he was talking anyway, without much prompting from her. And what does she do after his melody speech? Instead of staying and trying to find out more, she runs away, visibly shaken by what he said. And then she jumps in bed with him right afterwards?! If she were that repulsed by the idea of sleeping with him, why did she do it? Sorry, guys, but since their conversation, she didn't seem repusled by him, this is only your wishful thinking, I'm afraid. She was clearly touched by his words... it looks to me like Baltar might have just converted her, or at least started to, to monotheism...she may be the first of the Four to accept her Cylon nature.
Third, how is Tory "in the same place" as Gina?! Please explain! I don't see any similarity?!
I think the most dubious question is what will happen to the fleet's sewage. Does nobody else think this is just pathetic? MiAd
:Just like many of the overly technical and trivial questions. But we can hardly go around and remove everything we don't like, so only the really stupid stuff gets removed. -- Serenity 14:10, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
:: Well, we know that Galactica is capable of nearly 100% water replenishment. One would assume that the Bucket's own waste management system supplements that system... The ones that'd really need this ship are the other civvie ships, which aren't capable of long-term sewage. Further, the ship is reported to be submarine like, and thus small... which makes it easily expendable, since it doesn't have the living space to support the Fleet's citizens.
:: Besides, they could always rip a page or three from the Empire's handbook and just jettison their junk before they jump to lightspeed. :D -- Joe Beaudoin So say we all - Donate - Battlestar Pegasus 15:02, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
The question "Is the Eight dancing in front of Cavil Sharon Valerii? Does this signify anything?" is unimportant/answered. A dancing/training Eight appeared in "Torn" already, and the reason why Cavil watches is that she is nude. :This one: "With the Demetrius leaving under Starbuck's command, how will the Fleet's sewage be dealt with?"... The main question is, do we really care? What are the chances the writers are going to devote screentime to the dramatic tensions of sewage processing? OTW 21:46, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
::True, of course, but by the same logic we would have to remove about half the questions in most articles, because they will never be addressed or answered either. While not a small number of questions are indeed trivial and even groan inducing, there are some good rhetorical ones that just serve to get one to think about something. Tory Foster becomes President Laura Roslin's new aide and campaign manager following the death of Billy Keikeya. Prior to the Cylon attack, she was precinct captain for the Federalist Party in Delphi for five years, where she became proficient at taking polls (The Captain's Hand).

When President Roslin makes the decision to keep the new-born Cylon/human baby as far away from Sharon Agathon and the Cylons as possible, Tory creates a list of hand picked civilians who could be trusted with the baby. In the end a civilian named Maya is selected to take custody of the child. Tory makes it very clear that the child's mother's identity remain a secret (Downloaded).

Tory later conspires with Saul Tigh and Anastasia Dualla to rig the Presidential election in Roslin's favor. The ruse is uncovered and suppressed by Admiral Adama and Lieutenant Gaeta (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II).

During the occupation of New Caprica, Foster aides Roslin in compiling a list of humans who are in collusion with the Cylons. She is tasked, and fails, with ensuring the safe transport of Maya and Hera off the planet. Maya is killed trying to escape New Caprica with the child. Hera survives but is found by the Cylons ("Occupation", "Exodus, Part I & II").

Foster suffers an injury to one of her arms when a Raptor accidentally crashes into Colonial One after its main and RCS thrusters fail due to using impure tylium fuel (Dirty Hands).

Before and during the trial of ex-president Gaius Baltar, she is tasked with helping Roslin assemble a tribunal to bring charges against Baltar, as well as establish security arrangements ("The Woman King", "The Son Also Rises", "Crossroads, Part I") demonstrates an unwillingness to aid Romo Lampkin's defense case through initially stonewalling Lampkin's attempts to gain access to records on Colonial One (The Son Also Rises).

Some time after the death of Kara Thrace (Maelstrom), Foster began a sexual relationship with Thrace's widowed husband, Samuel Anders. Roslin apparently learns of the relationship and is displeased (Crossroads, Part II).

At the beginning of Baltar's trial, Foster begins to show signs of stress, possibly originating from a strange noise which she hears as the Fleet moves towards the Ionian nebula. Her lack of sleep and stress levels results in a damaging outburst to the press corps during Roslin's press conference, a press conference that covers the reemergence of her cancer. Roslin confronts Foster after this, threatening to replace her if she does not get back on her game (Crossroads, Part I). When the Fleet reaches the nebula, Foster (on Galactica) is drawn to Saul Tigh, Galen Tyrol and Samuel Anders, who also hear the now-coherent melody. Despite each of them realizing that they are Cylons, Foster and the others re-commit themselves to the Colonial cause. Foster returns to CIC and stands by Roslin, ready to aid (Crossroads, Part II).

The four newly discovered Cylons try to keep their nature hidden from those around them, while trying to come to terms it. When they brainstorm ideas about the still missing final Cylon, Colonel Tigh suggests that Foster flirt with Gaius Baltar to gain access to the knowledge he acquired while living among the Cylons. Although initially repulsed at the idea, she speaks to Baltar and is slightly captivated when he explains how he sees his new role as religious figure. Although at first she cries when eventually sleeping with him, she is further charmed when Baltar tells her that he thinks Cylons are people with feelings too (Six of One).

Overview
:Everything turns on its head as the survivors vote for a new president -- and vote for their fate.

Summary
On Caprica
*Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, the Marines, and the Caprica Resistance continue to take fire from Cylon Centurions and their artillery. They make their way up a hill, and hold their position.
*The Cylons hold fire, and Sharon Valerii remarks that the Cylons will attempt to capture them with non-lethal weapons, such as gas.
*Eighteen hours later, they emerge to find that the Cylons have disappeared. Cavil -- who suddenly appears behind them -- announces that the Cylons have left the Twelve Colonies and that humanity is spared.

In the Fleet
*Cally is cleared for duty by Dr. Cottle, despite having her jaw wired shut. Chief Tyrol visits her, apologizing for the attack. Cally forgives him, saying that she's always cared for him.

*Dr. Baltar continues to gain in the polls. On Colonial One, Tory mentions an alternative victory plan. Roslin later calls a private meeting with Dr. Baltar, asking to deliver a joint statement of tabling the issue of colonization until after the election. Baltar rejects the idea.

*Roslin, fearing that she has indeed lost the presidential race, confronts Baltar on whether he was with a copy of Number Six on Caprica before the Cylon attack. Baltar avoids answering the question and states that he may have saved her life, but he will not save her political life.

*Starbuck returns to Galactica with the resistance fighters, much to the delight of Admiral William Adama. She mentions the Cylon retreat from Caprica as Brother Cavil, leaving the Raptor, confirms it. He also says he has a message, but is attacked by Chief Galen Tyrol, who declares a "Code blue," claiming Cavil is a Cylon. Incensed that Caprica-Valerii did not reveal Cavil's true nature earlier, Admiral Adama orders both Caprica-Valerii and the second Cavil to the brig.

*The Galactica-based Cavil (from last episode) is brought to the brig, claiming he's not a Cylon, but changes his tune upon seeing his "brother", as he calls him. Caprica-Cavil then talks about the fact that the “war heroes” (Caprica Six & "Boomer" Valerii) have convinced their kind that the attack of the colonies and the pursuit of the fleet were mistakes. Caprica-Cavil's mission was to relay the message that man and Cylon will go their separate ways. Both Roslin and Admiral Adama are less than trusting regarding the message.

*In the brig, Caprica-Valerii is completely disillusioned and nihilistic, declaring that since her child's death, nothing -- not Adama's trust or Helo's -- matters to her. A frustrated Helo insists that he's not giving up on her, but she seems disinclined to listen.

*Thrace and Anders are getting extremely drunk when Apollo comes in to welcome them back. Starbuck makes a snide remark about Apollo and Dualla and goes back to drunkenly making out with Anders. Apollo, clearly upset with Starbuck, leaves without saying much.

*Election Day has arrived and Baltar has an apparent five thousand-vote lead over Roslin with only a five ships left to tally. On Colonial One, Foster activates her alternative victory plan with a call to Galactica.

*Amazingly, Roslin initially appears to have retained the presidency. While most are celebrating, Lt. Felix Gaeta discovers fraudulent actions in the vote, and informs the Admiral that Col. Tigh (who acts suspiciously when questioned by Gaeta) may be involved in a conspiracy to throw the election.

*Admiral Adama confronts Roslin regarding the conspiracy, saying that Tigh has confessed to rigging the vote. Roslin admits her involvement and Adama is disappointed. The Admiral indicates that, for good or bad, the people's vote must take precedence. Adama secretly buries the conspiracy itself while announcing the startling change in events to Dr. Baltar.

*Initially Baltar vows to have a full investigation on the vote count, but after Adama suggests that Baltar take his victory and leave matters be, Baltar relents and informs Adama that he can be quite generous in victory. President-elect Baltar then orders a course for “New Caprica.”

*Baltar and Gina consummate their relationship after Gina informs Baltar that she would not be part of the colonization.

*Gaius Baltar is sworn in as the new President of the Twelve Colonies, and orders the immediate colonization of New Caprica.

*Gina activates the nuclear warhead given to her by Baltar aboard Cloud 9. The nuclear blast destroys Cloud 9 and at least three other ships. Admiral Adama warns that this may be a prelude to a Cylon attack, but President Baltar ignores him and presses forward with colonization.

One Year Later
*President Baltar's administration appears to be corrupt, lax, and unresponsive. Mr. Gaeta, now the President's aide, reports issues with a worker's union. Baltar is upset, saying there have been no Cylon attacks but the people still complain. He has regressed, turning to alcohol, medication, and womanizing.

*Admiral Adama, now sporting a mustache, walks the corridors of a near-empty Galactica, which is quickly falling into disrepair. Over half of the crew have moved down onto the planet, leaving the ship so short on crew that they barely have enough pilots to fly training missions, much less form up Combat Air Patrols. The long absence of the Cylons has left both the remaining crews aboard the Pegasus and the Galactica rusty, causing them to take a long time to go to Action Stations. Adama asks Tigh to retire from duty to join his wife on the planet. Tigh reluctantly agrees.

*Anders, now Thrace's husband, has pneumonia. Dr. Cottle is unable to treat Anders because there are no antibiotics available. He can only advise Thrace to make sure Anders gets enough rest in order to recover.

*Thrace runs into the Tighs as Tyrol, now a union boss, is making a speech to begin a strike, with a very pregnant Cally by his side. Col. Tigh mentions to Thrace that Pegasus keeps a store of backup medical supplies and that Commander Lee Adama might spring some for her. Thrace disagrees, which prompts Tigh to state that Lee Adama should be over her harsh neglect of Adama's friendship after Anders' arrival a year before.

*Roslin returns to her teaching roots, teaching the settlement's children, and manages to find enjoyment in her new position. Maya is with her, as is the now one year-old "Isis".

*Thrace calls Commander Lee Adama aboard Pegasus to request the antibiotics. Dualla, ostensibly the Pegasus XO, notices something on DRADIS, to her horror.

*A massive fleet of Cylon basestars arrive in orbit around New Caprica. The Adamas discuss what to do in response, with Lee initially advocating that the remains of the orbiting Fleet jump away. Admiral Adama initially resists, but orders the Jump, vowing that they will return.

*A Leoben Conoy-model humanoid Cylon shows up at Thrace and Anders' tent, where he asks an ailing Anders about where to find Thrace.

*Mr. Gaeta informs the President of the Cylon approach. Later, before his assembled staff, copies of Numbers 5, 8, and 6 approach the President. The Cylons declare that as long as there is no resistance, no harm will come.

*President Baltar surrenders on behalf of the colonists after learning that the Cylons - scouting a star system one light year from New Caprica - discovered the planet because of the nuclear explosion set off by Gina. As Cylon forces occupy the planet, Thrace vows to resist.

Notes
* According to Ron Moore's podcast, although the SciFi Channel was willing to air this episode as a 90-minute special, there also exists an 60-minute version for international distribution. In some markets outside of the United States, viewers might only see the 1 hour version of the episode, which Moore regards as "almost incomprehensible". Many plot threads, such as the entire Cally/Tyrol subplot, were completely removed for the one hour version.
**In the United Kingdom, Sky One showed the episode as a 90 minute special.
**In Latin America, as aired by TNT LA, the 90 minute special was shown as well.

*In the podcast previous episode, he says that in early drafts of this special 90 minute long episode, the writers actually tried to make it a 2 hour special, but this was soon dropped (these times are including commercials).

*The election board appears to have a definitive list of the names of all of the ships in the Fleet. Not all of them are clearly visible, but this means that the writers do have an actual list that they get new ship names from.
**In fact, several ships from this list are mentioned by name in later episodes. For example Faru Sadin, Chiron, Thera Sita and Pyxis.

*Admiral Adama watches Pyramid games and was a fan of the Picon Panthers.

*The framed photo of President Roslin and Billy Keikeya is still on Roslin's desk during the election.

*When Roslin "won" the rigged election results, Roslin received 24,265 votes, while Baltar recieved 22,266. This means that the eligible voters in the Fleet number at least 46,531. In the podcast, Ron Moore explains that he quickly came up with these numbers, to try to reflect roughly how many survivors are below the voting age.

*Toward the end of the episode, President Baltar refers to a government body called the "People's Council". This may be the proportionally elected lower house mentioned by Ron Moore in his blog post on January 30, 2005.

*Hera is seen on New Caprica in the same white cradle that Baltar had a vision of her being in in "Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II" and "Scattered". According to Ron Moore's podcast it is actually the exact same cradle.

*Tyrol's union speech is an almost word for word quote of Mario Savio's address during the Free Speech Movement at Berkeley in 1964. According to Ron Moore and David Eick in the podcast, they even got permission from Savio's widow to use it (even though, due to the way copyright laws work from back then, they could have just used it without permission, they felt they should get it). As a result, it's even listed in the credits: "Mario Savio speech excerpted courtesy of: Lynne Hollander Savio". Actor Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) actually studied film of Savio, so all of the hand gestures Tyrol makes when he gives the speech are gestures that Savio actually used.

*Baltar's portrait of himself does not have the 'cut corners' as seen in almost all other papers and photos in the show. Neither do the other framed pictures in the presidential office aboard Colonial One, nor the papers in the classroom on New Caprica.

*Visible on the blackboard of Roslin's school are the French verbs aller, avoir, and être. Either English isn't the only language spoken on the Twelve Colonies, or this might be a goof by the set designers trying to make it look more like a generic school.
**French has appeared in the show before. In "The Hand of God", Six uses the French word for momentum or surge, élan. In "Pegasus", Captain Cole "Stinger" Taylor uses the phrase esprit de corps.
**There are also Chinese ideograms in an episode of the The Resistance webisodes.
* The story of the Fleet settling on New Caprica and being overrun by the Cylons is eerily similar to the story of the first episode of Singer and DeSanta's revival attempt. The shot of Roslin teaching kids the history of the Colonies is also a, possibly unintentional, reference to that.

Analysis
*According to Ron Moore's podcast, the events of "One Year Later" are real and were meant to solidify to the audience that the show is taking a path that cannot be reversed. In order to make the colonization of New Caprica real, Moore felt that the show would need to jump ahead in a span of year to show that indeed Baltar has followed through with his political promise.

*The events of the Cylon invasion of New Caprica parallel the German invasion of France, with the Fleet's escape a parallel to the Allied evacuation of Dunkirk and Baltar's surrender a parallel to Petain's surrender. The Cylons marching into New Caprica City is also reminiscent of German troops marching into Paris. If the parallel continues, Baltar will establish a puppet regime under Cylon rule akin to Vichy France while Colonials still loyal to humanity will establish a resistance movement.Ron Moore has actually said in the podcast for this episode that it is inspired by Vichy France.

*Baltar's arrogance seems to have led to corrupt rule during his year on New Caprica; he replaces Roslin's modest desk with a more elaborate one, replaces the population count whiteboard with a portrait of himself, and keeps a harem aboard the grounded Colonial One.

*After a year, everyone still lives in tents. Shortages of medicine abound, the military is of no use, and labor conditions are apparently intolerable. Baltar's administration is apparently as incompetent as Roslin feared, when she said he was ridiculously unqualified and had no idea how to be president.
**It is not clear whether these conditions are the result of administrative incompetence or the inherent difficulties of colonizing a marginally habitable planet.
***Of course, it was Baltar's idea to settle on a marginally habitable planet in the first place.
****...which the majority of the population voted for. Nobody forced them to colonize the planet. And considering the fact that the alternative was to continue living in ships in space, forced with constant lack of basic supplies, with a vague hope of finding Earth they were not even sure existed, let alone that they could actually find it, their decision makes sense.
***Tory Foster points out that Baltar was winning the election because he was "holding out hope for breathing real air, growing real food, sleeping in a bed instead of a bunk. Living in a house instead of a ship". Hopefully the irony of this wasn't lost on Baltar voters who even a full year later are sleeping in hammocks and living in tents.

*It is ironic that the obligations of duty keep Lee Adama aboard Pegasus while everyone else goes planet-side. He is a reserve officer, and promised to build his pilots a bar as soon as they found a habitable planet.
**It is possible the bar was built.
**A bar area is seen in "Unfinished Business".

*In the podcast for "Resurrection Ship, Part II" Ron Moore comments on how everyone assumed that Pegasus would be destroyed by the end of the episode, and thus he thought it would be a good twist to keep Pegasus alive as another ship in the Fleet. Speculators mistakenly assumed that the nuke that Baltar gave to Gina in "Epiphanies" would be used to destroy Pegasus (keeping in tune with the assumed destruction of the Original Series Pegasus).

*Twenty-nine people died between this episode and the preceding one. One or two Raptors were lost, and some Marines died on Caprica, but that doesn't seem high enough to account for this loss. Even if more people died during the attack on Caprica than shown, losses should be offset by the rescued resistance fighters.

* The Cylons were slightly over a light year away, according to the Number Five at the surrender. The radiation from the nuclear explosion on Cloud Nine would, of course, only be traveling at the speed of light. There is inconclusive evidence whether the Cylon download process is limited to the speed of light or not. While it is likely that it is, an FTL capability in this area would indicate that Gina didn't manage to download. It should be noted that comments by the writers and subsequent episodes point out that she is truly dead.

*The population of New Caprica City is given as 39,192. There were just under 50,000 people in the Fleet before establishing the settlement, so that gives a figure of roughly 10,000 accounting for the deaths on Cloud Nine, deaths due to accidents and the relatively harsh conditions on New Caprica and the people remaining on the ships in orbit (offset, of course, by births during the first year). At this point it can't be determined how many people died as the result of the nuclear explosion.
**Later it is established, that roughly 2,000 people escaped on the civilian ships and that both battlestars were at half-strength. This makes it possible to put the casualties of the explosion and the year of life on New Caprica at about 5,700 to 6,200 (net of births). See the "Precipice" section of Survivor Count for details.

*Any "industrial" vessels - such as the mining ships, tanker ships, repair ships, agricultural ships - would have landed on the planet and been debarked, dismantled, or converted to form the foundation for industrial efforts. Some of the vessels in the Fleet that left Ragnar Anchorage were not designed for prolonged interstellar journeys, and were basically running on a hope and a prayer, and would have been rendered promptly upon finding a more permanent home. The nineteen-or-so ships seen are, more than likely, the last space-worthy vessels in the fleet that are not needed (or capable of landing) planet-side.
**After a year, people are still living in tents and using landed ships as buildings, so it does not look like much has been dismantled or converted into raw production. Other than the miners, who are apparently extremely unhappy at how things have been run, we see little evidence of industry or production over the year.

*Apparently, Thrace's comments about Lee Adama and Dualla have taken their toll on their relationship. Whether the comments escalated is unknown, but, from Dualla's expression of annoyance when she hands the receiver to Adama when Thrace calls, it is clear that the three never reconciled with each other (See "Unfinished Business" for the answer).

*The Six and Eight that are part of the Cylon delegation that greets Baltar's cabinet are almost certainly Caprica-Six and Sharon Valerii. This is implied from Six's reaction upon seeing Baltar and her intimation that she knows who Baltar is. The two are also wearing the exact same clothes as in "Downloaded".

*Initially it remains open whether Roslin's threat to 'airlock' two Cavils was actually carried out. This is answered in a deleted scene. During their drinking scene, Tyrol tells Cally that the execution happened the previous night.

*In the Season 3 trailer that followed the end of the episode, Six narrates, saying that humanity has finally surrendered and the war is over. According to Six, the Cylons can finally fulfill their "true destiny" and take care of humanity. They desire to show humanity the "glory of peace," mercy; like God, their mercy can only be matched by their power and complete control. So apparently, the war heroes have indeed changed the Cylons' prejudices toward humans, but unfortunately this also means that the Cylons believe that the only way to care for humanity is to control it.
**This narrative sounds more like Baltar's internal Six (superior, controlling, zealous) than Caprica-Six (who is more of a people person).

Questions
*Who is Baltar's Vice President? (Answer)
*Has Gaeta's view of Baltar changed since Baltar's ascension to the presidency? If so, is Gaeta planning to do anything about it? (Answer)
*Where do the remains of the Fleet escape to?
*Where is Caprica-Valerii? (Answer)
*Why is Leoben looking for Starbuck, specifically? (Answer)
*Why has the population (until Tyrol's recent union speech) accepted Baltar's imperious rule? People were hardly so passive under Roslin.
*What were the workers being asked to do which was so "odious", "so sick[ening] at heart" that Tyrol was willing to call a general strike, and so important to Baltar that he was willing to use illegal imprisonment to break it?
*Baltar surrenders to copies of Six and Eight. Are these Cylons the reincarnated Caprica-Six and "Boomer" Valerii? (see Analysis)
*If "Galactica-Sharon" is present on New Caprica, will she attempt to rekindle ties with Tyrol? If she does, what kind of effect will that have on his relationship with Cally? (see "Occupation" and "Precipice")
*Where did the Cylon fleets go, after they left the Twelve Colonies? Cavil is deliberately vague when asked if they simply returned to the Cylon homeworld.
*Why didn't the nuclear device trigger the radiological alarms on either battlestar?
*How many people died in Cloud 9s destruction? (See the "Precipice" section of Survivor Count)
*Were the Quorum of Twelve killed on Cloud Nine?
*Were Shevon and Paya killed on Cloud Nine?
*When Gina was instantly vaporized due to being only two feet from a nuclear detonation, did she still transmit her consciousness? Was she even capable of transmitting considering that any internal hardware responsible for this task would have been instantly destroyed? (see Analysis)
*Given Roslin's memories of Baltar with Six, why didn't Admiral Adama suspect Baltar of handing over the nuclear warhead to the cylons? If he did suspect him, why not act on it? (see Analysis)
*Did Baltar's internal Six disappear at any point during the New Caprica year? If so, when and why? If so, did the events of her disappearance contribute to Baltar's regression?
*Why is it so easy for Adama to hide the collusion of the rigged election from the press, and why are there no consequences?
*If the Cylons really left the Twelve Colonies, leaving behind a nuked-out wasteland, what happened to all of the human captives in the farms?
*Why have the Cylons returned after suggesting that they were willing to go their "separate ways"?
*Will the Adamas resort to Cain's tactic of conscripting civilians to fill the gaps?
*What happened between Apollo and Starbuck? (Answer)
*What led to Starbuck's reconciliation with Col. Tigh after the two have been in conflict since the Miniseries. (Answer)
*When Adama informs Baltar that the nuke used to blow up Cloud Nine was probably stolen from Baltar's lab, why is he not suspicious about the fact that Baltar never reported that it was missing?
*Are the Cylons that appear at the end representative of the whole Cylon race, or are they a faction that broke off after the two "Cylon Heroes" began to speak out against the war on the humans?
*If it is true that the Cylons now believe the attack on humanity was a mistake, is the occupation on New Caprica viewed by the Cylons as an act of mercy and kindness vs. oppression from the human perspective? (see Analysis)
*Could it be the intent of the Cylons to actually help the colonization of New Caprica, helping with the construction of infrastructure, new homes, etc., in order to make up for the holocaust? (see Analysis)
**Could the Cylons be fortifying New Caprica to protect the humans from hostile Cylons? There should still be some, that Number Three in "Downloaded" was pretty fanatical, and if the political winds have changed as they so often do...
**Is there a Cylon civil "cold" war?
**Could the occupation of New Caprica be a compromise between pro-human and anti-human factions, with war breaking out between them after it fails?

Official Statements
From the official site (http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/):
When Baltar wins the vote, Roslin considers stealing the election because she believes he is a Cylon collaborator.

RDM's blog (March 28, 2006) gives details. (Due to article size requirements, the blog entry is not reproduced here.)
* Paul Campbell discussess his thoughts on the story post-"Sacrifice":

:MB/TSFW: So what do you think about the story after you left, and the trouble Mary’s character got herself into? After your replacement came in she kind of had a fall there. Do you think that would have happened if you were still there to watch her back?

: Paul: You know, I don’t know if they could have. Billy had so much integrity, that under his watch, I don’t think that would have happened. And maybe he would have had to step down, and Mary would have gone about that route with someone else. But I don’t think if he would have been in the picture, that would have gone down. Because that’s some shady crap, and I don’t think it would have cut it. We obviously butted heads on a few things like that in the past. In particular when I ended up leaving her at the ship. As it turned out, I had another pilot to go shoot. As it turned out, it was more my schedule that didn’t work out, but it worked in the writing. But no, I don’t think that would have flown had I been in the picture. So I don’t know what they would have done. I’m sure that was the story line from the beginning, but how they would have worked me into it, I don’t really know.
Webisode Anticipation
I think the Webisodes are a great idea that may expand the BSG Audience. Anyway, I can hope. --gougef 22:07, 27 May 2006 (CDT)

I really, REALLY dont like the idea of this. 'Caprica' was bad enough (but i'll begrudgingly watch it anyway cause you kinda have to) but the idea of filler really, REALLY sucks - why oh why cant RDM and Eick just put the events of whats happened into one/two/three regular episodes rather than put these up? No doubt there'll be wonderful nuggegts of info put into these eps, and references made to them in normal eps that people wont get unless they watch these little 'things'. Ron - if you're reading this - you're getting WAY too ahead of yourself - keep to writing BSG itself first, no fancy pants crap, drop Caprica cause its a dumb idea and focus on what people want more of - BSG itself, not a spinoff, not webisodes - JUST BSG!!! </rant> Grr! --Fordsierra4x4 03:47, 28 May 2006 (CDT)
::I know the Tardisodes are available - but for those of us without broadband (i will be sans broadband for a long time in the next month or so), web episodes arent a good idea. There are going to be plenty of people that dont want to be forced into watching something online, and with the Tardisodes that the BBC put up, they're totally self contained AFAIK, with no references made to them from other episodes, and they're non-important in terms of the overall storyline of DW, as well as being able to be viewed on the Digibox (digital terrestrial DVB-T or Digital Satellite set top box) by pressing 'the big red button'. BSG on the other hand, they're talking about a major part of the backstory which is hardly what i'd call trivial! Are they going to air the episodes on telly for those countries outside the US or will they just assume everyone has fast broadband and dont watch telly? --Fordsierra4x4 13:07, 28 May 2006 (CDT)

:::I just cant see why its necessary to split up a show into loads of different segments, have some aired on telly, some on the net - it just makes everything that more annoying - why oh *why* can't TV execs just get the idea into their thick skulls that people are happy watching telly AS IT IS!!! --Fordsierra4x4 13:30, 19 June 2006 (CDT)
:::: My guess is that it is a business decision. You can show an advertiser exactly how many viewers. Also, you get more opportunities to advertise per viewer. :This is not a bad idea at all. It's like a side project. Something that more than likely will have no tie-in to the regular series. Otherwise, why not call them teasers instead of webisodes? It's not featuring any of the main cast as far as we have been told. All the more interesting. Right now, Season 2 ends and proceeds to Season 3 in the template at the bottom of the screen: where's the page where I can add this webisode series into the succession?: I think it should be put at the beginning of Season 3 (or at least, after LDYB II clicking "next" would lead here, not season 3 proper). --The Merovingian (C - E) 18:13, 23 July 2006 (CDT)
In addition, I think the format of this page should be that of any one episode in the episode guide; that is, there won't be separate subpages linked for each of the 10 webisodes: ***Bradley Thompson, who co-wrote these, said he considers it one story, just broken up into 10 chunks, which I think is just like how a normal episode is broken up by commercial breaks. This really isn't a separate series, so much as a "special episode". It's not a separate series, but part of the series between Seasons 2 and 3 (we asked Thompson how we should consider it with that; waiting on answer). --->Originally I had thought this would be a parent series page that had episodes linked from it, but based on Thompson's comments it makes more sense just to put it in an episode format. --The Merovingian (C - E) 19:44, 25 July 2006 (CDT)
I'm confused about the last paragraph of the Contract Disputes... section. We say "several weeks" later from August, the tapes were handed over. (I assume that means at least 3 weeks.) The WGA/NBCU dispute became public on Aug. 12 and the NLRB greviance was filed on the 18th. It doesn't seem that three weeks have passed. Can that be clarified? Also, what changed or broke the stalemate? There has been nothing announced in Variety or elsewhere, at least in regard to The Office. How can the BSG producers turn over tapes without getting in trouble with the writers guild, of which Moore and Eick are presumably members. Obviously there is more than a little frustration over not being able to connect outside the US. I'm not sure about the UK and other countries, but I do know that Canada's Space Channel has bought the show to broadcast on pretty much the same dates as in the US. This makes the fact that we Canadians(and anyone else who is going to see the show boadcast legally on television on October outside the US) would really benefit from being able to access the webisodes...we will watch the premier on Space, just like everyone else, except we are forced to result to illegal means to see the webisodes. I know this is a novelty, and perhaps the websiode content won't greatly affect the regularly aired shows, but really, I truly feel that this is a bad mistake on SciFi's behalf...and maybe even on Canada's Space Channel's Behalf for not seeking to host the webisodes on their Canadian site. It'll be something that they can claim as "EXTRA SPECIAL" on the DVD releases perhaps..but I think that once that is done, it becomes "bonus material" for the DVD and no longer the exciting and unique experience of participating with everyone else, waiting expectantly for the next five minute morsel to whet our appetites for the coming season...instead we have to lurk around in the dark and worry that maybe YOUTUBE is going to cut us off. We are fans and we all want the same great experience.

Maybe this isn't the place to debate...but I think I'll be writing both SciFi and SPACE to see how they can make a better, more rounded fan experience for an evidently GLOBAL audience.
I'm not sure if the the content of each "webisode" is enough to merit a whole "episode" article. I like the fact that this current format maintains the standard layout (summary, questions, analysis, notes) and grouping them together gives it enough meat to fill it out. It'd be a harder call if each of the webisodes had a title, but lacking that they fall neatly into the current format. And everyone else I talked to heard Boomer. But I'll be damned if he's not saying "little bird". Dang, I really loved the implications of Boomer telling him. Which could definitely happen, as she's on New Caprica (Sharon's on Galactica). :I have a sample. Working on it now. --Peter Farago 16:14, 3 October 2006 (CDT)
::Okay. Let's do a quick run-through. A narrow transcription of "Boomer" reads pumɹ̣, "Rumor" reads ɹumɹ̣, and "A little bird" reads elɪɾḷpɹ̣d. "A little bird" in very fast speech would probably be realized as "Lil' bird", lɪlpɹ̣d, or maybe just "Bird", pɹ̣d. What are the salient differences here?
::*"Boomer" is distinguished from "Rumor" by a bilabial stop p vs. a retroflex approximant ɹ. The p is clearly audible to me in the recording, but unfortunately there's too much white noise to make it out in the spectrogram. However, we can ascertain whether or not ɹ is present, as that would drag down the second and third formants of the following vowel.
::*"Boomer" is quite clearly distinguishable from "Bird". "Boomer" has two vowels, high back rounded u and r-colored ɹ̣, interrupted by a bilabial nasal m. "Bird" has no nasal and a single vowel, ɹ̣. Thus, if we see a nasal and a vowel that is not r-colored, we can safely rule out "Bird".
::So, what we actually see looks to me like:
::
::There is clearly a nasal breaking the vowel formants into two regions. Thus, we can eliminate "(a little) bird" as a possibility. The first has a fairly low first and second formant, as we would expect for u, and its third formant, while barely visible, does not appear to be lowered be a preceding ɹ. Additionally, the bilabial plosive p is clearly audible in the recording. In the second vowel, the third formant can be seen to lower, which is suggestive of r-coloring. Thus, "Boomer" seems to be the only possibility. --Peter Farago 17:48, 3 October 2006 (CDT)
But the webisodes have been called episodes of the web series The Resistance and though they are much smaller and have a single storyline, they are in fact still called episodes of the web series Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance. "In particular the webisodes chronicle Duck's and Jammer's motivations to become suicide bomber and traitor respectively."
The word "traitor" is judgemental, too imbued with negative connotations, and, most importantly, a matter of the point of view. That's why I generally get annoyed with people using it. As Garak in "Deep Space 9" would say: "Treason, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder". Therefore I have changed it to "collaborator", which might be mostly used in a ngative connotation, but it is still more neutral and describes the situation more accurately.
}}Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance is an online series that aims to fill in the gaps between seasons two and three of the Re-imagined Series. The webisodes can be viewed through the official web portal at SciFi.com. An official FAQ deals with availability and technical issues.

The webisode series was written by Battlestar Galactica veterans Bradley Thompson and David Weddle, and directed by Wayne Rose. The entire series is 25 minutes long in total, divided into 10 episodes. While the Webisodes are scheduled to be included in the Season 3 (Region 1 DVD) Boxset, they were not included in the Season 3 (Region 2 DVD) version.

In particular the webisodes chronicle Duck's and Jammer's motivations to become suicide bomber and collaborator respectively.
Summary
Episode 1
* Running time: ~3:19

Tyrol and Tigh organize the budding resistance movement on Cylon-occupied New Caprica, but they find recruiting new soldiers is becoming dangerous and difficult. The Cylons have instituted a curfew. Violators go to jail, which is the first thing the Cylons built on New Caprica. New Capricans are shot on the spot if weapons are found in their tents. A stash of weapons belonging to Longo was confiscated by the Cylons, but the resistance was able to retrieve some of them which were hidden underneath his latrine. The Cylons are also setting up a human police force to take over for the Cylon Centurions, who are doing most of the police work.
*Release date: September 7, 2006
Duck has refused to work with the resistance, on the grounds of his relationship and intended child with Nora. Tyrol is highly displeased at this, particularly his reasons, as they parallel Tyrol's own situation; Jammer suggests respecting Duck's decision.

A ritual for protection of the crops from blight is said in the temple. As Sister Tivenan leaves, Jean Barolay abruptly shifts the conversation to the movement of the weapons stash into the temple; Jammer strongly objects, but he is overruled by Tigh.

Episode 3
*Release date: September 12, 2006

In the evening, Nora prays to Aphrodite to bless she and Duck with a child. He tells her his decision about joining the resistance. She is pleased that he refused Tyrol.

During the night, Tigh, Tyrol, Jammer, and Barolay move the weapons into the temple disguising them.

The next morning, Nora wakes Duck saying he will be late to work. She tries to convince him to go to temple after work with her. He refuses, saying he talks to the gods in his own way.

Episode 4
*Running time: ~1:57
At that moment Cylon Centurions can be heard outside, and a Number Five announces that they will enter the temple. Several men try to block them, but the Cylons force their way in and gunfire can be seen and heard. While trying to run away Cally falls to the ground protecting her baby, but Nora is shot and killed when she tries to retrieve her bag.
He becomes angry and demands to know if there were weapons in the temple. Tyrol tries to avoid the question, but Duck doesn't relent until Tyrol admits the truth. At that point, Duck orders them out of his tent.

Episode 6
*Running time: ~1:37
*Release date: September 21, 2006
Three days after the attack on the temple, Tigh, Barolay, and Jammer discuss the results of the attack, which has brought about positive effects for the resistance. The general population has started to side with the resistance and 1,000 people protested outside Colonial One over the attack on the temple. Since the attack, recruitment has become easier with 150 Colonials signing up. Tigh thinks that this was a good deal because the loss of a few weapons was worth the propaganda victory. However, Jammer is upset that the loss of 10 lives was not worth it. Tigh comes down hard on Jammer, stating that people die in war, nice people, and the resistance has no room for crybabies.

Episode 7
Tyrol and Tigh discuss the capture of Jammer by the Cylons. Tyrol insists that Jammer won't reveal the work of the resistance. Jammer is imprisoned in the New Caprica Detention Center and is visited by a Number Five, who frees him of his bonds and says he wants to talk to him about what happened in the temple.

Episode 8
*Running time: ~3:56
*Release date: September 28, 2006
Number Five proposes to Jammer that the massacre at the temple may have actually been planned by the Resistance. Number Five reminds Jammer of the good that has been accomplished by working together in peace. He offers Jammer the chance to stop further bloodshed by informing the Cylons of potentially life-threatening actions by the Resistance. Jammer balks at the idea of becoming a traitor to the Resistance, but accepts a key card which will let him enter the Cylon detention center to report the Resistance's secret plans if he chooses to become an informant.

Episode 9
*Running time: ~3:07
*Release date: October 3, 2006
Jammer is released from the New Caprica Detention Center and is met outside by Tyrol. Tyrol notes that he was informed of Jammer's arrest by Boomer, and then asks him what he told the Cylons. Jammer nervously explains that the Toasters questioned him about the temple massacre. Jammer reassures Tyrol that he did not tell the Cylons anything, but Tyrol appears doubtful.

Meanwhile, Duck returns to his tent and begins to clean up the mess from his earlier outburst. He bursts into tears while gathering up a broken picture frame and an icon of the Lords of Kobol.

Episode 10
*Running time: ~4:34
*Release date: October 5, 2006
After the dedication ceremony for Galen and Cally Tyrol's son, Duck approaches Tyrol in the temple. Duck informs Tyrol that he has joined the New Caprica Police, in hopes of finding out who tipped the Cylons off and is responsible for Nora's death.

Afterwards, Tyrol meets in the backroom with Saul Tigh, Jammer and Jean Barolay to discuss their next move against the Cylons. Tigh suggests hiding explosives in the grain silo, which Jammer points out is across from the hospital. When Tigh shows a lack of concern for the patients' safety, Jammer excuses himself "to patrol the perimeter."

Outside, Duck is smoking and examining his new NCP patch. He puts it away when Jammer comes out, and the two friends share a smoke together. Jammer notices that Duck said he was going to quit, to which Duck says "What frakking difference does it make now?" and leaves. Once alone, Jammer sits quietly, and reaches into his pocket to find the Cylon device Number Five gave him. <!-- After examining it, he rises and marches off toward the New Caprica Detention Center. -->
Notes
*The original title of the webisode series was "Crossroads".

*Three Chinese characters can be seen on a crate behind Tyrol at around 2:10 (in the countdown-style timer used by the SciFi.com Video Player) in the seventh episode. They are "盐", "油" and "姜", meaning "salt", "oil" and "ginger" (all cooking ingredients), respectively.
*Currently, for legal reasons, attempting to view the webisodes from outside of the USA will present you with a frozen video player stating either of two messages:
** "Your video will begin playing after a brief advertisement.", a message typically meaning that a brief video ad will play before the playback of the selected video.
** "We're sorry, but the clip selected isn't available from your location. Please select another clip." (if the user opens the video on Sci Fi's Pulse website)
:Users outside of America will have to wait until a DVD release, television broadcast, or some other legal means becomes available to view them. To date, the current, bare-bones DVD releases of season three do not have "The Resistance" content.
* In the sixth episode, Tigh states that 20 billion humans were "burned" by the Cylons. He also uses a new slang term for Centurions, "chrome jobs." This is likely inspired by the Caprica Resistance's calling humanoid Cylons "skin jobs".
*Number Five uses Jammer's real name for the first time: James Lyman.
*Other ideas discussed were a day in the life of Doctor Cottle, Gaeta working in Baltar's administration and the domestic life of the Tyrols (Battlestar Galactica: The Official Companion Season Three).

Analysis
*Jammer is unsurprised to hear that Tyrol and Boomer have been speaking. Apparently they have resumed some sort of contact since the occupation. How does this sit with other members of the resistance?

Questions
* Who tipped off the Cylons?

Official Statements
When Battlestar Wiki asked Bradley Thompson about the webisode series, he said:

:"It's true that David Weddle and I wrote the webisodes. Ron Moore and David Eick assigned them to us during the production of Exodus. The ten short segments combine to tell one story, which takes place during the Cylon Occupation that ended Season 2. The webisodes plant seeds that come to fruition in Season 3. They were all directed by Wayne Rose, the veteran director who's been doing 2nd Unit and 1stAD work for the series. The original title of the story was "Crossroads." The running lengths will vary with what's necessary to tell each segment of the story. The first cut I saw of all ten ran about 25 minutes. The run plan we were told was that they'd put up one a week as a countdown to the season premiere -- but SciFi may have other ideas on that by now."

"Nora is played by Emily Holmes. Longo is spelled the way you have it." -- contents of September 5, 2006 message from Bradley Thompson

"When they initially came to us we could have done just vignettes, and in fact the the staff thought of that approach to the webisodes. But when Brad and I got the assignment we thought, 'Let's just tell one story.' Network wanted it to play into the third season, so that gave us the inspiration to chronicle events that would pay off in the third season... [I remember Ron Moore saying] 'SciFi's ready to do it; they're ready to pay for them. You guys are doing it. Unless you don't want to. Have a story the day after tomorrow.' In a day or two Brad and I came up with the concept and a day after that we pitched them to SciFi. We wrote them in four days or something like that, and shot them the next week... The massacre in the temple has temp tracks we were going to loop and fix and make a lot better, but because we were forbidden to work on them anymore they went out as is. Of course people complained when they watched them and it just made us cringe because we very much wanted to correct that." -- David Weddle in a October 2, 2006 interview with CHUD.com.

"We said that we wanted a story that goes about a half hour -- we wanted ten three minute things. Then it was like where does it naturally feel like we're going to get something exciting you're going to want to see more of in future webisode... They told us was that we could have anybody that was in Canada. All of our Canadian actors... Duck and Jammer perform actions in those episodes. Ron, when he wrote those, hinted at what put the characters in place to do those things and we thought, 'There's the story.'" -- Bradley Thompson in a October 2, 2006 interview with CHUD.com.

"We came up with the idea of telling one story over the couse of ten webisodes that will fill in the motivations of some peripheral characters who nevertheless play pivotal roles in the opening episodes of Season 3. We wanted to tell the story of Duck and Jammer, who had become close friends while on New Caprica, and show how a single tragic event -- the temple massacre -- propels them on divergent paths toward actions that will affect the outcome of the battle to liberate the human race." -- David Weddle in a October 5, 2006 interview with SyFy Portal.

Contract Disputes and Production Delays
In an interview covering the WGA picket line on November 6, 2007, Ron D. Moore indicated that NBC-Universal had wanted to produce a series of online webisodes, but didn't want to pay anyone for it, seeing as they considered such things as promotional material and were not actually covered under the Writers Guild of America contract. The Battlestar Galactica writing team embraced the new story opportunity, but other NBC-Universal series such as The Office felt that webisodes were nothing but extra filler they were being forced to crank out.

Initially refusing to do them, Moore and NBC-Uni hammered out a deal whereby people would be paid. According to Bradley Thompson, the writing team was given extra pay for vaguely described "extra work" after but no long-term resolution was ever reached. However, while the deal for payment was made, Moore was later told that they wouldn't be credited for their work, and refused to hand over the episodes based on that fact.

According to Bradley Thompson, the webisodes were originally meant to be aired once a week (in much the same fashion as the Razor Flashbacks that precede the airing of "Razor"), for the 10 weeks preceding the Season 3 premiere on October 6th. This would have resulted in the webisodes premiering in mid-August. However, their release was delayed due to a the aforementioned labor dispute between the Writer's Guild of America and NBC-Universal regarding extra pay for the writers doing the webisodes, despite the fact that they were mostly completed.

The WGA is concerned about the long-term implications of online content: writers are not specifically compensated for their work on them, and NBC-Uni might argue that they have no claim on redistribution profits if they try to classify it as "promotional" material. By August 2006 the negotiations between the WGA and NBC-Uni broke down, and the WGA ordered all series producing webisodes (such as Battlestar Galactica and The Office) to refuse to physically deliver the webisodes to NBC-Uni for distribution online. NBC-Universal, who produces both shows, has filed a complaint with National Labor Relations Board, claiming that this writing is included in the current WGA contract and urging the NLRB to make the series release the material.

However, several weeks later the finished webisodes were taken by NBC-Uni, who did not resolve the issue of crediting the writers or people who produced the webisodes. Thus Ron Moore took it upon himself to credit the people responsible via his blog on the official SCIFI Channel website.

The first of ten webisodes were released on Tuesday, September 5, 2006, and subsequent installments were released every Tuesday and Thursday until the Season 3 premiere on October 6, 2006.
Noteworthy Dialogue
* From Episode One, Tigh and Tyrol discuss the remains of Longo's weapons cache:

: Saul Tigh: This is all that's left? This is frakkin' pathetic. This keeps up, we'll have nothing but rocks left to throw at the bastards.
: Galen Tyrol: Yeah, and nobody to throw them.

* From Episode 1, Tigh tells Lyman to be more forceful in recruiting Clellan:
: James Lyman: Duck hates the toasters, no doubt about that.
: Saul Tigh: He's also an ex-Viper jock with 40 kills. Talk to him. Make him understand that we need him. Throw in some poetic crap about the struggle for liberty against the Cylon oppressors—whatever it takes! (Lyman exchanges looks with Tyrol) We need more people or this resistance movement is gonna die in its crib.

* From Episode Six:

:Jammer: What about the ten innocent people? Why don't you tell Duck what a bargain you got for Nora's life?
:Saul Tigh: You got that ass-backwards, sonny. We didn't shoot those people, the chrome jobs did...
:Jammer: Because we hid weapons there!
:Tigh: Hey! We're not playing pattycake here. These bastards burned up twenty billion of us, you gonna say that's our fault, too? Instead of bawlin' like a little girl, you should focus on getting some payback.
:Jammer: Is that all this is about to you? Blood for blood?
:Tigh: We're at war! War is messy! People get killed—good people, nice people. Get that through your head, or get out! We don't need any cry-babies in this outfit.

<blockquote>All of the above people worked above and beyond the call of duty to deliver these Webisodes to you and they did it while also working to deliver the regular episodes of the third season. They did it without any template of how these things were to be done and they did it in defiance of a limited budget and a extraordinarily truncated shooting schedule.</blockquote>

<blockquote>I'm proud of them and proud of their work. I hope you'll agree.</blockquote>
