==Summary==
The story begins ''in medias res'', with the two Cavils from "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]" being escorted to the airlock. The two Cavils argue about the worthiness of their plan to destroy humanity, with Caprica-Cavil beginning to tell Galactica-Cavil why the genocide of humanity was a mistake.

From here, the tale begins as a single narrative, documenting the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]], before splitting into two distinct but related stories on [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] and ''[[Galactica (RDM)|Galactica]]''.

===Fall of the Twelve Colonies ===
*Two weeks before the attack, two [[Number One]]s in a [[Resurrection Ship]] near [[the Colony]] are standing over the [[resurrection tank]]s containing insensate copies of the "[[Final Five]]:" [[Ellen Tigh]], [[Saul Tigh]], [[Samuel T. Anders]], [[Galen Tyrol]] and [[Tory Foster]]. The Ones expect that the Final Five will be killed in the destruction of the Twelve Colonies and then resurrect into these bodies and apologize to the Ones for their former appreciation of humanity. One of the Ones plans on joining the active version of Ellen Tigh on [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Picon|Picon]] so that he can experience the holocaust in person, while the other One will go to [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] to make final arrangements with their contact.
*Fourteen hours before the attack, [[Gaius Baltar]] and [[Caprica-Six|Six]] walk through the Government Center Plaza in [[Caprica City]]. Shortly after their goodbyes, the Six meets up with One and passes off the access codes to the [[Colonial Defense Mainframe]]. One recommends she kill herself before the attack, suggesting poison as a relatively easy method.
*Shortly before the attack, Ellen is in the Club Pink Moon, a topless bar on Picon. The other One approaches her and strikes up a conversation, with Cavil introducing himself as a "mysterious stranger." She asks if he is a priest, and he ducks the question.
*At the Colony, the Cylon fleet stands in formation. The [[Hybrid]] gives the order and the [[Basestar (RDM)|basestars]] simultaneously jump to the Colonies.
*On Caprica, the [[Caprica Buccaneers]] are at a [[Pyramid (RDM)|pyramid]] training camp in the mountains near [[Delphi]]. Among the players are [[Samuel Anders]], [[Jean Barolay]] and [[Sue-Shaun]]. Watching from the sidelines is the team coach as well as the team doctor, a [[Number Four]] [[humanoid Cylon]].
*In the Caprican city of Delphi, Tory Foster is driving to the airport to catch a flight to Caprica City. In route, she is talking with a man on the phone about her government work.
*Above Caprica, dozens of basestars and at least one [[Resurrection Ship]] jump into orbit. Several of the basestars rotate around their axes to form a y-pattern, allowing them to enter Caprica's atmosphere.
*The Hybrid, presumably using the access codes given to Cavil by Six, infiltrates Colonial defenses.

*On Picon, Ellen and Cavil debate the ability of people to change. Ellen's flippant, rebuking response to Cavil's argument for others needing "correcting" visibly frustrates him. She later tells him that if someone were to make him change or apologize, that would be akin to him "selling himself out".
*In orbit of Caprica, three [[Valkyrie|''Valkyrie'' type battlestars]] led by the battlestar ''[[Yashuman]]'', along with several wings of [[Viper Mark VII|Viper Mk. VII]]s, move to intercept the Cylons. Caprican Control reports that they are unable to track and respond to the Cylons due to a system-wide crash in the defense mainframe.
*As the Cylons prepare to engage, the Cylons use the backdoors installed by [[Caprica-Six|Six]] into the [[Command Navigation Program]] to shut down the Colonial ships. The battlestars and Vipers drift helplessly in space, unable to speak to each other.

*The Cylons launch multiple missiles towards the surface of Caprica. As they approach the ground, the missiles open up to reveal over a [[w:MIRV|dozen independent nuclear warheads in each]]. The warheads separate, vector off in multiple directions and detonate.
*On Picon, Ellen and Cavil are startled as a nuclear shockwave hits the Pink Moon, indicating detonations on that planet as well. Cavil shields Ellen as the shockwave hits them.
*Delphi is hit, and Foster watches in horror as the shockwave consumes her vehicle.
*Anders quietly whispers to himself, "[[Earth (RDM)#Arrival and Ruins|This has happened before]]," as his teammates react to the several mushroom clouds seen in the distance. The Four secretly smiles at the destruction.
*The [[Scorpion Fleet Shipyards]], along with the docked ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'', are attacked by Cylon [[Raider (RDM)|Raiders]] as multiple nuclear detonations occur across the surface of [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Scorpia|Scorpia]].
*On [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Gemenon|Gemenon]], Cylon forces attack a city as several ships hastily take off. Onboard one of them, another Four carries a young girl through the crowds of evacuating people.
*A passenger ship in orbit of [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Canceron|Canceron]] is shaken by nuclear detonations on that planet. Among the passengers is a visibly happy [[Shelly Godfrey]].
*The Hybrid reports on the successful attack on all [[Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies]].
*Onboard ''[[Galactica]]'', [[William Adama|Commander Adama]] informs [[Saul Tigh]] of the attack as the ship enters [[action stations]].
*A wounded Foster crawls out of the remains of her car to find herself standing in the smoldering ruins of Delphi. Nearby, several [[SAR]] Raptors land, presumably evacuating Foster and any other survivors before rendezvousing with [[Laura Roslin|Roslin]]'s [[The Fleet (RDM)|fleet]].
*Several SAR birds also comb the wreckage of Picon. In the ruins of the Pink Moon, a severely wounded Ellen has a flashback to the Fall of Earth. Cavil stands over her, assuring her that she is not going to die yet because she has more left to learn. Both Ellen and Cavil are soon evacuated by the SAR Raptors, also presumably meeting up with Roslin's fleet.
*[[Lee Adama]] helps Caprican survivors off [[Sharon Valerii]]'s Raptor onboard ''[[Colonial One]]''. A distraught [[Giana O'Neill]] inquires about her husband serving in the [[Colonial Fleet (RDM)|Colonial Fleet]] on Gemenon.
*Adama enters his [[Adama's quarters|quarters]] to find a [[Miniseries, Night 2#Epilogue|note]] informing him that there are only twelve Cylon models. A cut to Baltar implies that he left the note.

=== On ''Galactica'' ===
*Five days after the attack, the Fleet is attacked by the Cylons as they have been every [[33|33 minutes]] for the past five days. Onboard the ''[[Rising Star]]'', a wounded and disoriented Ellen is lying in a cramped makeshift [[sickbay]] as Cavil watches over her. Ellen does not remember who he is, but begs him to find Saul. As she passes out, Cavil says that four of the Final Five are in the Fleet; only Anders is absent.
*The ship continues to be jolted by explosions from the battle. Cavil rationalizes with himself about the necessity of keeping Ellen alive, saying that she has yet to understand her mistake in loving an immoral and imperfect humanity.
*Eight days after the attack, refugees continue to board and be processed on ''Galactica''. Tigh remarks at the calm of the people, but Adama corrects him, saying they are just temporarily numb from the shock. As they walk through a corridor, Tigh accidentally bumps into Cavil.
*Cavil is carrying fliers, which talk about "the Plan" and encourage people to meet with him. A [[John (RDM)|young boy]] runs by and knocks the fliers out of Cavil's hands.
*Cavil bends to pick up the fliers and is helped by a [[Number Six#"Tough Six"|Number Six]]. Surprised but relieved, he hands her a flier as he notices a [[Number Four|Simon]] copy going around a corner.
*He asks [[Socinus]] if he may post the fliers in ''Galactica'''s restricted area, but Socinus offers to do so for him.
*In the chapel on ''Galactica'' given to Cavil, Shelly Godrey arrives with a flier to find the other Six, a [[Number Two]] copy and a [[Number Five]] copy assembled, all carrying fliers. Cavil notes that they are missing copies of [[Number Three]] and Four.
*Cavil reviews the original Cylon plan, which involved all the humans being killed, the Cylons [[download|downloading]] and the Universe "basking in [[Cylon War|justice]]." However, the survival of ''Galactica'' and the Fleet has prevented its success.
*Two proposes that they each work separately to sabotage the Fleet, but instead Cavil has assignments for each of them. He informs them that a [[Cylon Tactics#Sleeper agents within the Fleet|sleeper agent]], an [[Number Eight|Eight]], is currently within the Fleet and he will speak to her.
*Cavil tasks the Two with cracking the Colonial military's technology so that they can listen into the Fleet's communications and contact any basestars in the area.
*For Shelly Godfrey, Cavil gives her the mission of sabotaging Baltar's work on the [[Cylon detector]]. As he will simply build another one if they destroy it, Godrey is to [[Six Degrees of Separation|discredit him]] to prevent any future work.
*As the copy of [[Aaron Doral]] aboard ''[[Colonial One]]'' was discovered to be a Cylon, Cavil tells the Five that he is too recognizable to remain in the Fleet. Instead, he gives him a suicide vest to use.
*Onboard the ''[[Gemenon Traveler]]'', Leoben has successfully hacked into ''Galactica'''s military communications. He listens in as [[Kara Thrace]] and other pilots engage three Raiders. He is clearly intrigued by her.
*Cavil takes a small statue of an elephant out of his bag. As he leaves, he finds the boy that had knocked the fliers out of his hands sleeping in the chapel and kicks him out.
*In the tool room of the [[hangar deck]], the newly enlisted Giana tells Tyrol that she needs to change out the oxygen cylinders on a Raptor. Tyrol disputes that the cylinders need changing and playfully informs her that ''Galactica'' has no replacement parts.
*Valerii enters the room looking for the Chief, where she is introduced to Giana. As she leaves, Giana quickly deduces that the two are an item.
*Back in her [[duty locker]], Valerii finds the elephant statue that Cavil had been holding. The statue apparently unlocks Valerii's awareness of her Cylon identity, and she flashbacks to a conversation she had with [[Gina Inviere]] before becoming a sleeper agent.
*Meeting with Cavil, Valerii proposes that she sabotage ''Galactica'''s water supplies as a way to cripple the Fleet. Cavil agrees, but when he suggests that Valerii kill herself in the process, she is able to convince him that her cover is better than expected, referencing her relationship with Tyrol. Cavil laughs at the irony of her becoming romantically involved with Tyrol over all of the potential humans, then tells her to kill herself anyway.
*On the ''[[Cybele]]'', the ship that had carried the Simon copy and young girl off Gemenon, Giana is having dinner with the two of them. Simon had previously married Giana, without revealing his Cylon identity, and adopted Giana's daughter [[Jemmy]].
*During dinner, Cavil approaches Simon and introduces himself as Simon's childhood [[priest]]. Cavil excuses himself but asks Simon to come see him soon, giving the vague warning that he knows where Simon lives. Simon is clearly disturbed by the encounter.
*In a [[weapons locker]], a soaking-wet Valerii informs Cavil that the charges have been placed in the water tanks. When she expresses reluctance at destroying the Fleet, Cavil rebukes and uses the statue to revert her into sleeper agent mode.
*As a panicked Valerii discusses with Tyrol what to do about the missing [[G-4]] detonators, the charges are detonated, sending all of ''Galactica'''s water into space.
*Seventeen days after the Fall of the Colonies, the Five uses his suicide vest in an attempt to kill Adama. Only through Tigh's intervention is Adama saved.
*With Roslin's [[Litmus|subsequent announcement]] that the Cylons now appear human and the distribution of pictures of both Two and Five, Leoben hides from [[Colonial Marines]] in the ducts of the ''Gemenon Traveler''.
*Simon meets with Cavil in ''Galactica'''s chapel. While Simon proposes that he use his position as a medic to kill the humans off one by one, Cavil asks him why he won't do more.
*When Simon critiques this query by asking Cavil whether he actually has a plan, Cavil becomes frustrated by the failures of the Cylons to fully exterminate humanity. He tells Simon that they will later discuss a plan to have Simon blow up the ''Cybele''.
*Shelly Godfrey goes to Adama and accuses Baltar of collaborating in the attack on the Colonies, using a forged photo of him placing an explosive device on the Defense Mainframe.
*Leoben continues to listen to Starbuck's exploits, painting the [[mandala]] symbolizing the [[Eye of Jupiter]] on a wall as he listens to a recording of Starbuck's engagement with Cylon Raiders above the [[Red moon|red moon]].
*Valerii finds that someone has written "CYLON" on the mirror of her locker. Meeting with Cavil while out of sleeper agent mode, Valerii suspects that she wrote the message herself. Cavil comforts her and reminds her why humanity must be destroyed. The two then share a kiss.
*Baltar confronts Godfrey in the [[Galactica Crew Facilities (RDM)#Heads|head]] over her false allegations. Though she maintains her story, she seems reluctant to go through with destroying him.
*Leoben tries to convince Cavil of Starbuck's [[The Destiny|destiny]], referencing her ability to fly a downed Cylon Raider without ever having done so before, but Cavil refuses to listen. Soon after, marines capture Leoben.
*Baltar is arrested for treason but saved when [[Felix Gaeta]] proves that the incriminating photos are a fake.
*As marines follow Godfrey through the corridors of ''Galactica'', Cavil uses the other Six to make it seem as though Godfrey had suddenly disappeared.
*Cavil accuses Godfrey of failing to convincingly frame Baltar because of her love for him. She denies it, but Cavil has her kill herself by using an [[airlock]], reminding her to give the Fleet's position to the other Cylons once she resurrects.
*Twenty-five days after the attack on the Colonies, Starbuck is [[Flesh and Bone|interrogating]] the captured Leoben aboard the ''Gemenon Traveler''. He breaks free of his constraints and pins Starbuck to a wall.
*As he holds her, he sees prophetic visions of their experiences together on [[New Caprica]] and Thrace's [[Maelstrom|visions and death]]. The guards then restrain Leoben. Soon after, Leoben is airlocked on the orders of Roslin, with Starbuck showing him a moment of sympathy.
*Torn with grief and confusion over her identity, Valerii attempts suicide by shooting herself in the mouth.
*The young boy returns to Cavil's chapel. He tells Cavil that he is not a war orphan, but his parents don't want him anymore. Cavil tells once again tells him to leave.
*Giana returns to her quarters from work, where she and the rest of the deck crew had been analyzing the captured Cylon Raider. Simon becomes upset over how much she has been working, saying that since the Cylons are trying to kill them, they should be spending as much time together as possible. Giana is furious over his behavior and leaves with Jemmy.<ref>This scene comes after the scene where Adama asks Valerii to destroy the basestar. However, this creates a significant continuity error, as Adama asked Valerii to do so because Tyrol had been shot down over Kobol and Starbuck had stolen the raider, meaning Giana's statement as to her work that day is non-sensical. Hence, the scene is placed before the previous scene in this article for the sake of continuity</ref>
*Adama asks the recovering Valerii to take a Raptor armed with nukes and destroy the basestar orbiting [[Kobol]]. Valerii, along with [[Margaret Edmondson]], succeed in doing so and are greeted as heroes upon their return to ''Galactica''. As Adama thanks them for their actions, Valerii pulls a gun and shoots Adama twice in the chest.
*Simon informs Cavil that Adama is dying, and that he will blow up the ''Cybele'' on the condition that his family is kept safe. However, Cavil tells him that shouldn't happen, since they will never know his true nature if they die now.
*As Adama lays in sickbay, Cavil chastises Valerii in the brig for not killing Adama. She claims that she is not fully in control of herself, but later admits her reluctance towards continuing the genocide of humanity and her attraction to her human life. Wishing her well, Cavil reactivates her sleeper agent programming and leaves. Valerii is later assassinated by [[Cally Henderson]].
*Simon makes love to Giana and apologizes for his actions. Later, he is able to rig open an airlock on the ''Cybele'', crying and declaring his love for his family as he is launched into space and dies permanently, outside the range of any [[Resurrection Ship]].
*Drunk and lamenting the failures of the Cylons to destroy the Fleet, Cavil ponders the source of his bad fortunes. The remaining Six tells him the flaw in his plan: "You can't declare war on love."
*Giana is questioned by Tigh. Giana believes that Tigh thinks Simon was a Cylon, which Cavil denies. Giana shows Tigh the suicide note left by Simon, which reads, "Love outlasts death."
*Cavil finds the young boy and invites him inside, giving him food and shelter.
*Tyrol finds Giana in the corner of the hanger bay. Kara Thrace's return from her experiences with a Four copy on Caprica, along with a newspaper clipping of the Four acting as the team doctor for the Buccaneers, has proven to Giana that Simon was a Cylon. Both of them suspect that Valerii and Simon were being ordered to carry out their missions by someone else and deliberately failed.
*Giana says that were she to believe that she was a Cylon, she would climb to the top of the hangar deck and jump. Tyrol kisses her, but immediately says he didn't mean anything by it.
*After having assaulted Cally, Tyrol is being [[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I|counseled]] by Cavil. Tyrol admits that he is afraid to place his trust in others, to which Cavil tells him he should be given his experiences.
*While reading in his quarters, Cavil is again approached by the young boy, who offers Cavil an apple. Cavil takes out a knife and cuts the apple, giving it the boy. When Cavil asks what the boy's name is, he tells him it is [[Number One#"John" and the Final Five|John]].
*Cavil asks if they have become friends, and John responds that they have. Cavil tells him that "friends are dangerous things" and stabs John with the knife. He dies, and Cavil apathetically pushes his body off the bed.

=== On Caprica ===
*The Buccaneers panic as they listen to wireless broadcasts on the attack. Anders quickly takes charge, telling them that they have to stick together and learn more about what has happened.
*[[Centurion (RDM)|Centurions]] are placing their damaged and destroyed comrades in a large container. The Buccaneers sneak across a large bridge, hiding behind the railing and observing the centurions. After a Raider takes off and nearly spots them, they retreat.
*The newly-founded [[Caprica Resistance|Resistance]], made up of the Buccaneers and various hikers and survivalists, use [[Delphi Union High School]] as their headquarters.
*For their first mission, Anders uses inspiration from an old war movie, ''[[Arts and Literature of the Twelve Colonies#Visual Arts|The Tauron Line]].'' The Resistance will plant explosives on a severed Centurion thigh, wait for the Centurions to place the thigh in a recovery container and then detonate the charges.
*The Resistance quietly approaches their target and places the thigh near the container, watching from the tree line as Centurion picks up the piece. Before it goes into the container, one of the fighter slips on grave, and the Centurion kills him immediately. Sam detonates the charge, crippling the Centurion and partially opening the container.
*Despite Anders' insistence to retreat, Kai and the coach charge towards the door with an explosives-packed pyramid ball. The damaged Centurion aims at them, and Kai passes the ball to the coach before jumping on the Centurion, which shoots and kills Kai. The coach throws the ball into the container, and the explosion knocks him off his feet, presumably wounding or killing him. As one of the teammates runs to get the coach, a Raider appears and kills him; the rest of the group retreats.
*Anders walks away from the group, arguing that he has no idea what he is doing. Barolay begs him to stay.
*Some time later, Barolay and Anders view a group of Dorals burning human bodies in a mass grave. Barolay breaks down when she notices that all of the Dorals look alike, realizing that the Cylons now look like humans.
*Anders and Barolay return with armed reinforcements as a Cavil inspects the grave. The resistance fighters kill the Dorals, and as they approach the bodies they find Cavil, pretending to be a human, calling out for help on the ground. The fighters fall for the trick, and Cavil is stunned when he sees that Anders is the leader of the Resistance.
*As they arrive back at camp, Anders asks if Cavil hears confessions. Cavil says he does, and Anders tell him they will speak later. They exit the truck, and Cavil is "introduced" to Simon, who feigns ignorance.
*One week later, Simon and Cavil speak privately. Simon asks why Cavil has yet to follow through on his plan to inform the Cylon forces of their location. Cavil sarcastically responds that Anders had asked him to hear his confession and that, as a man of the Gods, he must keep his promise to do so.
*Several weeks later, Cavil is on patrol with Anders and the Resistance when he sees Starbuck and [[Karl Agathon]]. He tells Anders that he believes he has seen them before and, thus, they must be Cylons. As the two sides engage each other, Simon calls out Cavil on his lack of effort in bringing down the Resistance.
*The next morning, Anders and Starbuck awaken together. Starbuck promises to send a rescue party for the Resistance once she returns to ''Galactica''.
*Cavil and Simon are in the next room, where they can hear Starbuck and Anders speaking and having sex. Cavil asks why they are doing so, to which Simon responds that Anders love her. Cavil considers Thrace to be beneath Anders and conspires with Simon to the Fours' "[[farm]]" for experimentation.
*During a recon patrol, Starbuck is shot and taken to the farm. Anders returns to base with his wounded and tells Cavil the situation. Though Cavil attempts to convince Anders that Starbuck is likely dead, Anders insists on trying to find her, obviously irritating Cavil.
*The next day, Cavil joins Anders outside. Anders finally gives his confession to Cavil, where he admits his cowardice and vanity following the failed raid on the Cylon container. Cavil absolves him, then asks if Anders could forgive the Cylons considering the strength Anders have gained following the attack. Anders angrily rejects Cavil's argument and walks off.
*Simon approaches Cavil, who is upset over the fact that Anders continues to love humanity.
*At the Farm, Starbuck stabs a Four copy in the neck and escapes outside. The Resistance rescues her, and Anders orders Barolay to return to camp and kill Simon.
*Several months later, the Resistance has been heavily reduced by Cylon attacks. Anders, Cavil and the remaining survivors walk through the woods. Anders tells Cavil of his love for the people who have died under his command. Cavil angrily asks Anders why he continues to love the dead, to which Anders replies that death doesn't change love.
*Barolay tells Anders that a group of unknowns is moving towards them, and the survivors take cover. It is quickly determined that the unknowns are Starbuck, Helo and the marines ''Galactica'' has sent to rescue the Resistance.
*As Starbuck and Anders embrace, Cavil takes aim at Starbuck with a rifle from the distance. He prepares to fire, but then remembers Anders' insistence that death doesn't change love and puts down the rifle.
*The Cylons begin the mortar their position, and the humans take cover. The Cylons stop firing, and both Cavil and the humans wonder why. As the humans sleep later that night, Cavil ventures out into the woods, where he finds a Six. The Six tells Cavil that the Cylons have voted for a cease-fire with the humans, and Cavil elects to deliver the message to the humans himself.

===Epilogue===
*The Resistance survivors and Thrace's team return to ''Galactica'', where Caprica-Cavil reveals himself. The Chief identifies him as a Cylon, and Caprica-Cavil is taken into custody.
*In the [[brig]], Galactica-Cavil enters while denying that he is a Cylon. However, his protests cease when he sees Caprica-Cavil in the cell. Caprica-Cavil delivers the cease-fire to Adama and Tigh, who decide to airlock both of them.
*As they are escorted to the airlock, the Cavils see all of the Final Five Cylons watching them. They admit that this wasn't the reunion they had expected.
*Entering the airlock, and returning to where the story began, Caprica-Cavil asks if there is a resurrection ship in range. Galactica-Cavil says that there is one but adds that he is not looking forward to dying in a vacuum first.
*Galactica-Cavil asks Caprica-Cavil whether he truly thinks that attacking the humans was a mistake. Caprica-Cavil tells him he does. Their error was that they wanted to be loved by the Final Five more than the humans, but the destruction of humanity would only strengthen the love of the Five for humanity.
*Galactica-Cavil assures Caprica-Cavil that he will have him [[boxed]] upon downloading, then resume the task of destroying the Fleet.

This scene does not appear in the extended "Daybreak", but, as stated in Ronald Moore's commentary on that episode, it was moved to "The Plan". Thus, the Six seen speaking to Boomer in this flashback is Gina Inviere.
*The named locations on Leonis, Scorpia, Tauron, Picon, Aquaria and Libran evoke the zodiac symbols each is named for. Aerilon's association with agriculture and Caprica's association with sophisticated, urban life were established in "[[Dirty Hands]]" and "[[The Woman King]]".
*The jungles of Scorpia were also mentioned in the fourth issue of ''[[Battlestar Galactica: The Final Five 4|Battlestar Galactica: The Final Five]].
*Reveal: When Sam and his teammates are trying to listen to a radio broadcast after the attack, and before they decide what to do, the device they are listening to is marked 'Centrios' which is an electronics brand carried by the Canadian 'Source' electronics chain before it was bought out after its parent company 'Circuit City' went bankrupt.
*Cavil puts Shelly Godfrey through an airlock weeks before Roslin "invents" airlocking as the preferred method of disposing of Cylons.
**Cavil also seems to be able to activate the airlock very quickly and without anyone noticing, whereas later in the film it took Simon a long time to rewire the airlock in order to activate it.
***Simon may have been wiring the airlock to be able to operate it from the inside, rather than requiring an external operator.
*Several scenes from the first two seasons of the series are shown again in this movie, but in most cases are conveniently edited to fit the story.
**Baltar's role in Boomer's suicide attempt is omitted.
**When Tyrol visits Cavil in "The Plan," Cavil asks "What's on your mind chief?" which was never asked in "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I", and Tyrol's response in "The Plan" about how to know he is human comes much later in the actual conversation.
**Scenes on Caprica create extra moments for new dialogue to be inserted where it wasn't before. In "The Plan", a voiceover during Starbuck's rescue from The Farm has Anders ordering a resistance fighter to return to their basecamp and kill their doctor, whom they learn is a Cylon upon seeing the Simons at the farm.
**When Starbuck/Helo re-encounter the resistance on Caprica, the scene from "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I" has the question "Is Kara Thrace there" with Anders shouting "If she is she took her sweet time." In "The Plan", the dialogue is interrupted by Helo asking "Who wants to know?" after the question about Thrace. This scene also contains a continuity error during the switch from new footage to archive footage. As Anders and the resistance fighters are crouched behind a log, there is no one behind them in the new footage, but when it cuts to the old footage there is suddently a soldier behind them.
**When the Cylon attack on Caprica stops, Anders asks why. In "The Plan", he is answered by Cavil with "That's a good question," a line that obviously is not in the original sequence.
**The scene of the two Cavils in the brig from "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II" cuts most of the dialogue and rearranges it, leaving out most of Galactica Cavil's supportive statements of the new peace, and the implication he knew about the truce. Also, in the original episode, Roslin suggested throwing the pair out the airlock. Roslin does not appear at all in "The Plan" (other than a few strands of hair in archive footage of the Cavil interrogation scene), and re-dubbed dialogue has Tigh suggesting the airlock solution, with Adama agreeing.
* "The Plan" shows the end of the Cavil/Tyrol conversation from "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I". Picking up after Cavil tells Tyrol that his deck hands are his family and taps his hands on the table, "The Plan" shows Cavil asking Tyrol if he finds it difficult to trust others. Tyrol says yes, and Cavil sympathizes with him, saying that he trusted people and they all let him down (referring to his Cylon cohorts). Cavil says it will be tough, wishes the Chief luck, and leaves.
* The iconic Cylon catchphrase "[[By your command]]" is never used in this film.

== Analysis ==
*Given the ''Galactica'' copy of Cavil's comments in the airlock, his resurrected self is the copy that led the anti-human Cylon faction during the [[Cylon Civil War]] and later killed himself permanently in CIC during the [[Battle of The Colony]] (unless he is the One that [[D'Anna Biers]] strangles in "[[The Hub]]", which may very well be the case).

*It is likely that the device Leoben constructs to intercept Colonial military transmissions is a forerunner of the device he gave [[Laura Roslin]] to overcome the [[Gaeta's Mutiny|mutineers']] communications jamming in "[[Blood on the Scales]]".

*Number One's plan to make his creators repentant is inherently flawed due to basic differences in his thinking as compared to theirs. He believes that human life is terrible and just living among humans will make them see that - a belief they simply do not share - and he does not realize the fact that inflicting suffering on the humans will make the sympathy of the five original Cylons towards humanity grow, not diminish. This holocaust mirrors that which occurred on their own homeworld and is exactly what they were trying to prevent when they made a deal with the Colonial Centurions. Number One is therefore just as naive in his expectations at the outset of the movie as are his sibling models. At the end of the movie, the One that was on Caprica with Anders has realized these errors, and the One that was on ''Galactica'' has not.

*The main focus of this movie, which is the triumph of love, shows perhaps why the Cylons eventually split into two factions. Being that it is far easier to kill people you don't know, once they start getting to know humans they are obviously having a harder time killing them. This is evident in the split during the Cylon Civil War, the three models that take the most interest in, and have the most interaction with humans are the ones advocating peace and from their interaction with humans become curious about discovering their own natures while the three models that have the least to do with humans are far more machine like and less interested in self-discovery as a result.

*The characteristics of several of the Cylon models are further fleshed out.
**Number One/Cavil is clearly the leader as shown by his taking charge of the Cylons within the fleet and just like in the series this is often shown to be because his superior knowledge
**The Number Two/Leoben model is shown (as he is later in Blood on the Scales) as being very good at signal/communications cracking, this fits in well with his own obsession, and skills, with information and revelations. Two also seems to be fairly knowledgeable and Cavil seems to be slightly less derogatory towards this model, possibly because as the second model created he has known Leoben the longest.
**All the Number Four/Simon models seem to have very detailed medical expertise (enough to successfully be hired as doctors for both a pro-sports team and the military)
**Number Five/Doral is portrayed as being, as they are in other instances, very bureaucratic and obsessed with minute and unimportant details (like most bureaucrats) as well as being extremely zealous, although not particularly bright, and they seemed to be looked down upon by the other models.
**Number Six is once more portrayed as being the most varied, adaptable, and strong willed (regardless of which personality) of the Cylon models.
**Number Eight is shown being very skilled in military thinking and engineering as shown by her plan to blow the water tank but at the same time she is the most susceptible to emotions and outside influence.

*The Plan shows how Leoben knew Starbuck's name and that his belief that she had a destiny was based solely on his discovering that she learned how to fly a raider without being taught how, showing to him that she had some kind of special connection to the universe. The flashes he sees the first time he touches her, of their history together, also shows why he is so sure she will tell him she loves him and kiss him (although the flashes don't show him getting stabbed by her, hence his surprise) which also show her meeting her destiny(falling into the Maelstrom and encountering a version of him (possibly an angel) but it doesn't show anything after that, hence his surprise on seeing her dead body.

*A major plot point of "Six Degrees of Separation" was the baffling disappearance of Shelly Godfrey, seemingly into thin air. It is unclear whether or not the Colonials eventually deduced that she airlocked herself (the scene in which she is airlocked comes after the scene in which Adama is questioning her evasion of the guards).

* Tyrol's intense dreams of suicide by diving off the deck as related in "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I," are inspired by his conversation with Giana, as depicted in "The Plan." She said that's what she would do if she suspected she were a Cylon. The chief clearly had such suspicions, and his subconscious must have latched onto her suggestion.

*The Plan does not show whether or not Boomer left the hatch combing open for Doral as Tyrol suspected in "[[Litmus]]".

*The movie exposes Ellen Tigh's explanation in "Tigh Me Up Tigh Me Down" for what she was doing during the attack on Picon as a lie. In the episode, she says she was at an airport buying a ticket to return home, presumably to be with Tigh. The Plan shows she was at a strip club getting drunk and hitting on men. It is entirely possible, however, that she was awaiting her flight.

* Did Giana take her husband's surname? In other words, is the full alias of Number Four actually "Simon O'Neill"?
* Is ''Galactica'' Cavil really the same Cavil that leads one side of the Cylon Civil War?

Was the Cylon Civil war more widespread than believed?

===Fall of the Twelve Colonies ===
*Two weeks before the attack, two [[Number One]]s in a [[Resurrection Ship]] near [[the Colony]] are standing over the [[resurrection tank]]s containing insensate copies of the "[[Final Five]]:" [[Ellen Tigh]], [[Saul Tigh]], [[Samuel T. Anders]], [[Galen Tyrol]] and [[Tory Foster]]. The Ones expect that the Final Five will be killed in the destruction of the Twelve Colonies and then resurrect into these bodies and apologize to the Ones for their former appreciation of humanity. One of the Ones plans on joining the active version of Ellen Tigh on [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Picon|Picon]] so that he can experience the holocaust in person, while the other One will go to [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]] to make final arrangements with their contact.

Onboard the ''[[Rising Star]]'', a wounded and disoriented Ellen is lying in a cramped makeshift [[sickbay]] as Cavil watches over her. Ellen does not remember who he is, but begs him to find Saul. As she passes out, Cavil says that four of the Final Five are in the Fleet; only Anders is absent.
*The ship continues to be jolted by explosions from the battle. Cavil rationalizes with himself about the necessity of keeping Ellen alive, saying that she has yet to understand her mistake in loving an immoral and imperfect humanity.
*Eight days after the attack, refugees continue to board and be processed on ''Galactica''. Tigh remarks at the calm of the people, but Adama corrects him, saying they are just temporarily numb from the shock. As they walk through a corridor, Tigh accidentally bumps into Cavil.
*Cavil is carrying fliers, which talk about "the Plan" and encourage people to meet with him. A [[John (RDM)|young boy]] runs by and knocks the fliers out of Cavil's hands.

*Valerii enters the room looking for the Chief, where she is introduced to Giana. As she leaves, Giana quickly deduces that the two are an item.
*Back in her [[duty locker]], Valerii finds the elephant statue that Cavil had been holding. The statue apparently unlocks Valerii's awareness of her Cylon identity, and she flashbacks to a conversation she had with [[Gina Inviere]] before becoming a sleeper agent.
*Meeting with Cavil, Valerii proposes that she sabotage ''Galactica'''s water supplies as a way to cripple the Fleet. Cavil agrees, but when he suggests that Valerii kill herself in the process, she is able to convince him that her cover is better than expected, referencing her relationship with Tyrol. Cavil laughs at the irony of her becoming romantically involved with Tyrol over all of the potential humans, then tells her to kill herself anyway.
*On the ''[[Cybele]]'', the ship that had carried the Simon copy and young girl off Gemenon, Giana is having dinner with the two of them. Simon had previously married Giana, without revealing his Cylon identity, and adopted Giana's daughter [[Jemmy]].
*During dinner, Cavil approaches Simon and introduces himself as Simon's childhood [[priest]]. Cavil excuses himself but asks Simon to come see him soon, giving the vague warning that he knows where Simon lives. Simon is clearly disturbed by the encounter.
*In a [[weapons locker]], a soaking-wet Valerii informs Cavil that the charges have been placed in the water tanks. When she expresses reluctance at destroying the Fleet, Cavil rebukes and uses the statue to revert her into sleeper agent mode.
*As a panicked Valerii discusses with Tyrol what to do about the missing [[G-4]] detonators, the charges are detonated, sending all of ''Galactica'''s water into space.
*Seventeen days after the Fall of the Colonies, the Five uses his suicide vest in an attempt to kill Adama. Only through Tigh's intervention is Adama saved.

*Valerii finds that someone has written "CYLON" on the mirror of her locker. Meeting with Cavil while out of sleeper agent mode, Valerii suspects that she wrote the message herself. Cavil comforts her and reminds her why humanity must be destroyed. The two then share a kiss.

Hence, the scene is placed before the previous scene in this article for the sake of continuity</ref>
*Adama asks the recovering Valerii to take a Raptor armed with nukes and destroy the basestar orbiting [[Kobol]]. Valerii, along with [[Margaret Edmondson]], succeed in doing so and are greeted as heroes upon their return to ''Galactica''. As Adama thanks them for their actions, Valerii pulls a gun and shoots Adama twice in the chest.
*Simon informs Cavil that Adama is dying, and that he will blow up the ''Cybele'' on the condition that his family is kept safe. However, Cavil tells him that shouldn't happen, since they will never know his true nature if they die now.
*As Adama lays in sickbay, Cavil chastises Valerii in the brig for not killing Adama. She claims that she is not fully in control of herself, but later admits her reluctance towards continuing the genocide of humanity and her attraction to her human life. Wishing her well, Cavil reactivates her sleeper agent programming and leaves. Valerii is later assassinated by [[Cally Henderson]].
*Simon makes love to Giana and apologizes for his actions. Later, he is able to rig open an airlock on the ''Cybele'', crying and declaring his love for his family as he is launched into space and dies permanently, outside the range of any [[Resurrection Ship]].
*Drunk and lamenting the failures of the Cylons to destroy the Fleet, Cavil ponders the source of his bad fortunes. The remaining Six tells him the flaw in his plan: "You can't declare war on love."
*Giana is questioned by Tigh. Giana believes that Tigh thinks Simon was a Cylon, which Cavil denies. Giana shows Tigh the suicide note left by Simon, which reads, "Love outlasts death."
*Cavil finds the young boy and invites him inside, giving him food and shelter.
*Tyrol finds Giana in the corner of the hanger bay. Kara Thrace's return from her experiences with a Four copy on Caprica, along with a newspaper clipping of the Four acting as the team doctor for the Buccaneers, has proven to Giana that Simon was a Cylon. Both of them suspect that Valerii and Simon were being ordered to carry out their missions by someone else and deliberately failed.
*Giana says that were she to believe that she was a Cylon, she would climb to the top of the hangar deck and jump. Tyrol kisses her, but immediately says he didn't mean anything by it.
*After having assaulted Cally, Tyrol is being [[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I|counseled]] by Cavil. Tyrol admits that he is afraid to place his trust in others, to which Cavil tells him he should be given his experiences.
*While reading in his quarters, Cavil is again approached by the young boy, who offers Cavil an apple. Cavil takes out a knife and cuts the apple, giving it the boy. When Cavil asks what the boy's name is, he tells him it is [[Number One#"John" and the Final Five|John]].
*Cavil asks if they have become friends, and John responds that they have. Cavil tells him that "friends are dangerous things" and stabs John with the knife. He dies, and Cavil apathetically pushes his body off the bed.

=== On Caprica ===
*The Buccaneers panic as they listen to wireless broadcasts on the attack. Anders quickly takes charge, telling them that they have to stick together and learn more about what has happened.
*[[Centurion (RDM)|Centurions]] are placing their damaged and destroyed comrades in a large container. The Buccaneers sneak across a large bridge, hiding behind the railing and observing the centurions. After a Raider takes off and nearly spots them, they retreat.
*The newly-founded [[Caprica Resistance|Resistance]], made up of the Buccaneers and various hikers and survivalists, use [[Delphi Union High School]] as their headquarters.
*For their first mission, Anders uses inspiration from an old war movie, ''[[Arts and Literature of the Twelve Colonies#Visual Arts|The Tauron Line]].'' The Resistance will plant explosives on a severed Centurion thigh, wait for the Centurions to place the thigh in a recovery container and then detonate the charges.
*The Resistance quietly approaches their target and places the thigh near the container, watching from the tree line as Centurion picks up the piece. Before it goes into the container, one of the fighter slips on grave, and the Centurion kills him immediately. Sam detonates the charge, crippling the Centurion and partially opening the container.
*Despite Anders' insistence to retreat, Kai and the coach charge towards the door with an explosives-packed pyramid ball. The damaged Centurion aims at them, and Kai passes the ball to the coach before jumping on the Centurion, which shoots and kills Kai. The coach throws the ball into the container, and the explosion knocks him off his feet, presumably wounding or killing him. As one of the teammates runs to get the coach, a Raider appears and kills him; the rest of the group retreats.
*Anders walks away from the group, arguing that he has no idea what he is doing. Barolay begs him to stay.
*Some time later, Barolay and Anders view a group of Dorals burning human bodies in a mass grave. Barolay breaks down when she notices that all of the Dorals look alike, realizing that the Cylons now look like humans.
*Anders and Barolay return with armed reinforcements as a Cavil inspects the grave. The resistance fighters kill the Dorals, and as they approach the bodies they find Cavil, pretending to be a human, calling out for help on the ground. The fighters fall for the trick, and Cavil is stunned when he sees that Anders is the leader of the Resistance.
*As they arrive back at camp, Anders asks if Cavil hears confessions. Cavil says he does, and Anders tell him they will speak later. They exit the truck, and Cavil is "introduced" to Simon, who feigns ignorance.
*One week later, Simon and Cavil speak privately. Simon asks why Cavil has yet to follow through on his plan to inform the Cylon forces of their location. Cavil sarcastically responds that Anders had asked him to hear his confession and that, as a man of the Gods, he must keep his promise to do so.
*Several weeks later, Cavil is on patrol with Anders and the Resistance when he sees Starbuck and [[Karl Agathon]]. He tells Anders that he believes he has seen them before and, thus, they must be Cylons. As the two sides engage each other, Simon calls out Cavil on his lack of effort in bringing down the Resistance.
*The next morning, Anders and Starbuck awaken together. Starbuck promises to send a rescue party for the Resistance once she returns to ''Galactica''.
*Cavil and Simon are in the next room, where they can hear Starbuck and Anders speaking and having sex. Cavil asks why they are doing so, to which Simon responds that Anders love her. Cavil considers Thrace to be beneath Anders and conspires with Simon to the Fours' "[[farm]]" for experimentation.
*During a recon patrol, Starbuck is shot and taken to the farm. Anders returns to base with his wounded and tells Cavil the situation. Though Cavil attempts to convince Anders that Starbuck is likely dead, Anders insists on trying to find her, obviously irritating Cavil.
*The next day, Cavil joins Anders outside. Anders finally gives his confession to Cavil, where he admits his cowardice and vanity following the failed raid on the Cylon container. Cavil absolves him, then asks if Anders could forgive the Cylons considering the strength Anders have gained following the attack. Anders angrily rejects Cavil's argument and walks off.
*Simon approaches Cavil, who is upset over the fact that Anders continues to love humanity.
*At the Farm, Starbuck stabs a Four copy in the neck and escapes outside. The Resistance rescues her, and Anders orders Barolay to return to camp and kill Simon.
*Several months later, the Resistance has been heavily reduced by Cylon attacks. Anders, Cavil and the remaining survivors walk through the woods. Anders tells Cavil of his love for the people who have died under his command. Cavil angrily asks Anders why he continues to love the dead, to which Anders replies that death doesn't change love.
*Barolay tells Anders that a group of unknowns is moving towards them, and the survivors take cover. It is quickly determined that the unknowns are Starbuck, Helo and the marines ''Galactica'' has sent to rescue the Resistance.
*As Starbuck and Anders embrace, Cavil takes aim at Starbuck with a rifle from the distance. He prepares to fire, but then remembers Anders' insistence that death doesn't change love and puts down the rifle.
*The Cylons begin the mortar their position, and the humans take cover. The Cylons stop firing, and both Cavil and the humans wonder why. As the humans sleep later that night, Cavil ventures out into the woods, where he finds a Six. The Six tells Cavil that the Cylons have voted for a cease-fire with the humans, and Cavil elects to deliver the message to the humans himself.

===Epilogue===
*The Resistance survivors and Thrace's team return to ''Galactica'', where Caprica-Cavil reveals himself. The Chief identifies him as a Cylon, and Caprica-Cavil is taken into custody.
*In the [[brig]], Galactica-Cavil enters while denying that he is a Cylon. However, his protests cease when he sees Caprica-Cavil in the cell. Caprica-Cavil delivers the cease-fire to Adama and Tigh, who decide to airlock both of them.
*As they are escorted to the airlock, the Cavils see all of the Final Five Cylons watching them. They admit that this wasn't the reunion they had expected.
*Entering the airlock, and returning to where the story began, Caprica-Cavil asks if there is a resurrection ship in range. Galactica-Cavil says that there is one but adds that he is not looking forward to dying in a vacuum first.
*Galactica-Cavil asks Caprica-Cavil whether he truly thinks that attacking the humans was a mistake. Caprica-Cavil tells him he does. Their error was that they wanted to be loved by the Final Five more than the humans, but the destruction of humanity would only strengthen the love of the Five for humanity.
*Galactica-Cavil assures Caprica-Cavil that he will have him [[boxed]] upon downloading, then resume the task of destroying the Fleet.
*As they wait in silence, Caprica-Cavil offers his hand, which Galactica-Cavil takes. They are launched into space, and as they float towards a nebula, Cavil's speech to Ellen from "[[No Exit]]" about his potential as a machine is heard.

*The named locations on Leonis, Scorpia, Tauron, Picon, Aquaria and Libran evoke the zodiac symbols each is named for. Aerilon's association with agriculture and Caprica's association with sophisticated, urban life were established in "[[Dirty Hands]]" and "[[The Woman King]]".
*The jungles of Scorpia were also mentioned in the fourth issue of ''[[Battlestar Galactica: The Final Five 4|Battlestar Galactica: The Final Five]].

**When Tyrol visits Cavil in "The Plan," Cavil asks "What's on your mind chief?" which was never asked in "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I", and Tyrol's response in "The Plan" about how to know he is human comes much later in the actual conversation.
**Scenes on Caprica create extra moments for new dialogue to be inserted where it wasn't before. In "The Plan", a voiceover during Starbuck's rescue from The Farm has Anders ordering a resistance fighter to return to their basecamp and kill their doctor, whom they learn is a Cylon upon seeing the Simons at the farm.
**When Starbuck/Helo re-encounter the resistance on Caprica, the scene from "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I" has the question "Is Kara Thrace there" with Anders shouting "If she is she took her sweet time." In "The Plan", the dialogue is interrupted by Helo asking "Who wants to know?" after the question about Thrace. This scene also contains a continuity error during the switch from new footage to archive footage. As Anders and the resistance fighters are crouched behind a log, there is no one behind them in the new footage, but when it cuts to the old footage there is suddently a soldier behind them.
**When the Cylon attack on Caprica stops, Anders asks why. In "The Plan", he is answered by Cavil with "That's a good question," a line that obviously is not in the original sequence.
**The scene of the two Cavils in the brig from "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II" cuts most of the dialogue and rearranges it, leaving out most of Galactica Cavil's supportive statements of the new peace, and the implication he knew about the truce. Also, in the original episode, Roslin suggested throwing the pair out the airlock. Roslin does not appear at all in "The Plan" (other than a few strands of hair in archive footage of the Cavil interrogation scene), and re-dubbed dialogue has Tigh suggesting the airlock solution, with Adama agreeing.
* "The Plan" shows the end of the Cavil/Tyrol conversation from "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I". Picking up after Cavil tells Tyrol that his deck hands are his family and taps his hands on the table, "The Plan" shows Cavil asking Tyrol if he finds it difficult to trust others. Tyrol says yes, and Cavil sympathizes with him, saying that he trusted people and they all let him down (referring to his Cylon cohorts). Cavil says it will be tough, wishes the Chief luck, and leaves.
* The iconic Cylon catchphrase "[[By your command]]" is never used in this film.

== Analysis ==
*Given the ''Galactica'' copy of Cavil's comments in the airlock, his resurrected self is the copy that led the anti-human Cylon faction during the [[Cylon Civil War]] and later killed himself permanently in CIC during the [[Battle of The Colony]] (unless he is the One that [[D'Anna Biers]] strangles in "[[The Hub]]", which may very well be the case).

*It is likely that the device Leoben constructs to intercept Colonial military transmissions is a forerunner of the device he gave [[Laura Roslin]] to overcome the [[Gaeta's Mutiny|mutineers']] communications jamming in "[[Blood on the Scales]]".

*Number One's plan to make his creators repentant is inherently flawed due to basic differences in his thinking as compared to theirs. He believes that human life is terrible and just living among humans will make them see that - a belief they simply do not share - and he does not realize the fact that inflicting suffering on the humans will make the sympathy of the five original Cylons towards humanity grow, not diminish. This holocaust mirrors that which occurred on their own homeworld and is exactly what they were trying to prevent when they made a deal with the Colonial Centurions. Number One is therefore just as naive in his expectations at the outset of the movie as are his sibling models. At the end of the movie, the One that was on Caprica with Anders has realized these errors, and the One that was on ''Galactica'' has not.

*The main focus of this movie, which is the triumph of love, shows perhaps why the Cylons eventually split into two factions. Being that it is far easier to kill people you don't know, once they start getting to know humans they are obviously having a harder time killing them. This is evident in the split during the Cylon Civil War, the three models that take the most interest in, and have the most interaction with humans are the ones advocating peace and from their interaction with humans become curious about discovering their own natures while the three models that have the least to do with humans are far more machine like and less interested in self-discovery as a result.

*The characteristics of several of the Cylon models are further fleshed out.
**Number One/Cavil is clearly the leader as shown by his taking charge of the Cylons within the fleet and just like in the series this is often shown to be because his superior knowledge
**The Number Two/Leoben model is shown (as he is later in Blood on the Scales) as being very good at signal/communications cracking, this fits in well with his own obsession, and skills, with information and revelations. Two also seems to be fairly knowledgeable and Cavil seems to be slightly less derogatory towards this model, possibly because as the second model created he has known Leoben the longest.
**All the Number Four/Simon models seem to have very detailed medical expertise (enough to successfully be hired as doctors for both a pro-sports team and the military)
**Number Five/Doral is portrayed as being, as they are in other instances, very bureaucratic and obsessed with minute and unimportant details (like most bureaucrats) as well as being extremely zealous, although not particularly bright, and they seemed to be looked down upon by the other models.
**Number Six is once more portrayed as being the most varied, adaptable, and strong willed (regardless of which personality) of the Cylon models.
**Number Eight is shown being very skilled in military thinking and engineering as shown by her plan to blow the water tank but at the same time she is the most susceptible to emotions and outside influence.

*The Plan shows how Leoben knew Starbuck's name and that his belief that she had a destiny was based solely on his discovering that she learned how to fly a raider without being taught how, showing to him that she had some kind of special connection to the universe. The flashes he sees the first time he touches her, of their history together, also shows why he is so sure she will tell him she loves him and kiss him (although the flashes don't show him getting stabbed by her, hence his surprise) which also show her meeting her destiny(falling into the Maelstrom and encountering a version of him (possibly an angel) but it doesn't show anything after that, hence his surprise on seeing her dead body.

*A major plot point of "Six Degrees of Separation" was the baffling disappearance of Shelly Godfrey, seemingly into thin air. It is unclear whether or not the Colonials eventually deduced that she airlocked herself (the scene in which she is airlocked comes after the scene in which Adama is questioning her evasion of the guards).

* Tyrol's intense dreams of suicide by diving off the deck as related in "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I," are inspired by his conversation with Giana, as depicted in "The Plan." She said that's what she would do if she suspected she were a Cylon. The chief clearly had such suspicions, and his subconscious must have latched onto her suggestion.

*The Plan does not show whether or not Boomer left the hatch combing open for Doral as Tyrol suspected in "[[Litmus]]".

*The movie exposes Ellen Tigh's explanation in "Tigh Me Up Tigh Me Down" for what she was doing during the attack on Picon as a lie. In the episode, she says she was at an airport buying a ticket to return home, presumably to be with Tigh. The Plan shows she was at a strip club getting drunk and hitting on men. It is entirely possible, however, that she was awaiting her flight.

* The brand of "[[Tauron]] toothpaste" offered as a prize to the pilots is called "[[Felgercarb]]," a word used in the original series to mean "shit." Tauron comes from Taurus the bull. In essence, Kara is offering the pilot who finds a new planet "bullshittoothpaste".
* The collection of named [[Number Six]] models expands with the addition of [[Sonja]], who becomes the first Cylon to be elected to the Fleet's reconstituted Quorum.
*When Tyrol visits and talks to Boomer for the first time in the Brig, during the conversation Boomer calls Tyrol "Galen" for the first time, at least publicly and on screen. Previously she has only been known to call Tyrol "Chief", perhaps out of reflex action to keep their romance a secret, even though it was the worst kept secret in the fleet.

== Analysis ==
===The Galactica's condition ===
*FTL jumps appear to create spatial distortions that can seriously strain a ships hull. Although bad hull damage does not necessarily prevent a ship from jumping (as has been seen many times before in the seasons, for example ''Pegasus'' - which jumped after being hit by three nuclear missiles in [[The Captain's Hand]]) the threat to ''Galactica'' has been compounded by the added riddling of the entire aged superstructure with microfractures. Tigh expresses concern that a jump within the flight pod will seriously strain the internal integrity of the ship. Boomer's FTL jump does eventually appear to cause a chain reaction of hull collapses along ''Galactica's'' port side, a side visibly weakened by Cylon attack, and suffering general aging in the 50+ year old ship's structure.
*The port side of ''Galactica'' which suffers damage in this episode has been seen specifically to suffer major stress before now- particularly during the [[Battle of New Caprica]] when it was mentioned that explosive decompressions were imminent in that section. That side of the ship also saw the port water tank blow out in [[Water]]-and though this seemed to be repaired it no doubt contributed to the area's hull fatigue.
* Many individuals express fears of the damage an FTL jump can do to ''Galactica'', impying FTL jumps place serious strains on a ships hull–or even the hull of a ship nearby and a degree of hull integrity is important to allow a ship to continue jumping for continued periods. This appears quite a new phenomenon in the canon of the show and was not mentioned in previous seasons, though it of course makes for a convenient plot conceit now. Before this ships have frequently been seen jumping and exiting a jump close to each other in the series with seemingly no ill effects- though it is possible Boomer's Raptor was much closer to Galactica's hull than has ever been seen before. In the episode [[A Disquiet Follows My Soul]] the tylium ship jumped whilst surrounded by Raptors and Vipers and no ship seemed to suffer damage, although they were knocked back and sent tumbling. It should be made clear that smaller objects are proportionally stronger and that smaller objects should feel much less shear. It is also possible the stress of by being caught in the FTL field of another vessel rather than that caused by a vessels own, properly configured FTL drive is more powerful and dangerous.
*Given that ''Galactica'' has jumped hundreds of times whilst damaged before now, it is not explained why no damage has occurred before given it is assumed damage will be guaranteed by an unplanned jump in this episode. In the miniseries ''Galactica'' suffered a nuke hit and yet jumped several times later. Also despite falling through the atmosphere of New Caprica ''Galatica'' was able to execute an FTL jump despite the severe strains on the hull. Fears of FTL stress were not mentioned.
** ''Galactica'' has probably been taking damage over the years from multiple jumps and suffering combat damage. It's just that the extent of the damage has not become apparent until now.
** It is in part because of those actions, the atomic strikes and it jumping and falling though into a planet's gravity well and its atmosphere is why ''Galactic''a is suffering from massive metal fatigue, in addition to normal wear and tea of a 50+ year old ship and the fact that she hasn't had a major or even minor overhaul in years even before the the attack on the Colonies has taken their toll. In addition as discovered by Chief Tyrol the builders of ''Galactica'' "cut corners" with the building specifications of the ship. Ironically, if the ''Galactica'' was able to retire on schedule these issues of "substandard" construction wouldn't had come up.
** Further to the point above about small craft being subject to less 'shear', it stands to reason that the size of the disturbance created by a ship executing a jump might be proportional to the size of the ship itself. A large vessel such as the tylium ship may create a widespread but relatively smooth disturbance, so the nearby Raptors would have been like corks bobbing as a wave passed. Conversely, a small vessel such as a Raptor might create a localised but very sharp distortion that poses more risk of damage to a large ship close to it.
*The age of ''Galactica'''s FTL drive might explain why the ship's hull integrity is taxed so badly by her FTL drive - more modern drives might not cause so much stress, and might explain why other Fleet ships and the rebel basestar can continue to jump despite the damage their hulls have taken.
* ''Galactica'' is in very bad shape from the metal fatigue in the hull. It's so bad that Tyrol says that all the [[Cylon organic resin]] could do is buy a little more time, but not too much from the looks of it, and that the ship might only be capable of a few more FTL jumps, if that. The ship is dying of old age and abuse and there's nothing anyone can do save it completely. The damage Boomer created during her escape has no doubt worsened the ship's condition.

===The actions of Boomer===
* Adama has still not forgiven Boomer for shooting him.
* Ellen's escape from Cavil seems to have been orchestrated between him and Boomer in order to get Boomer on ''Galactica'' so she could kidnap Hera.
* The clear liquid substance that Boomer, masquerading as Athena gave Hera in her sippy cup and urged her to drink up was likely a sedative to keep her quiet in the equipment box she hid her in.
* It would appear that while Cavil was willing to let Ellen go in order to obtain Hera, members of the [[Final Five]] are still of some value to him, as evidenced by Boomer's offer for Tyrol to go with her.
**It is more likely that Boomer genuinely wanted him to come with her because she truly loves him. Bringing him back to John Cavil-if that is where she is headed-would be of no use to him because as Ellen stated he would need all Five of the Finals to recreate Resurrection. She has saw that it is possible for a Final Five Cylon to mate and have offspring with a Standard Model like herself even if Caprica-Six's pregnancy by Saul Tigh failed so the possibility of a family was open to her.
* Boomer has gone from being a conflicted sleeper agent to being a willing infiltrator and saboteur on ''Galactica''.
* The Cylons want Boomer tried for treason, with execution being a possible outcome, because her actions are linked to the permanent deaths of thousands of Cylons. This parallels the Colonial Fleet's own desire to try [[Gaius Baltar]].
* Boomer seduces [[Helo]] by pretending to be [[Sharon Agathon|Athena]]. This is ironic, as Athena originally seduced Helo on [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]], by pretending to be Boomer.
** Boomer's seduction of Helo - in the presence of Athena - may have been motivated by a desire to exact revenge on Athena for having effectively taken over her old life on ''Galactica.''
*It is very possible-but not certain-that the Cylon ability to recognize individual Cylons despite them looking exactly like each other (most of the time, the Sixes seem to have the most variants in hair color and use of makeup, both voluntary actions) relies on actually looking at the individual. In the lavatory where Sharon "Boomer" Valerii severely beats Sharon "Athena" Agathon, Athena initially mistook Boomer as a generic Eight when she saw her in the reflection of a mirror. It was after she stood up, turned around and looked directly at Boomer did Athena recognize her as Boomer. Admittedly however, it is possible that she would had recognized Boomer if she still only watched her in the reflection. Still, she said a full sentence while she looked at her in the mirror-"Great, I hope you are here to fix the frakkin' shower!"-but instantly recognized Boomer the exact moment she saw her directly and not reflected. Perhaps they also need to look the other Cylon square in the eyes, which is what Tyrol does in "[[Deadlock]]" before identifying Boomer.

===Starbuck's role===
* The mysterious piano player is Kara's father, which can be concluded by his sudden disappearance and by the flashbacks with both Kara and her father playing the piano when she was little. ** It will be difficult for him to deny involvement considering the presence of the unconscious Eight he substituted for Boomer in the brig.
***That assumes the Eight can identify him as the one that attacked her in the work area. It was coal pitch black dark when he knocked her out. Still, the circumstance of him being the one to restore power to the Cell Area and knowing how hard he pleaded for Boomer's life makes him a natural suspect. What could convict him beyond doubt is if people on the hanger deck remember him helping "Athena" - as everyone thought at the time - with that large very heavy equipment box. It is known that Cylons can tell each other apart on sight despite them being indistinguishable to humans. If someone recalls Tyrol helping so-called "Athena" that will be used as proof positive that Tyrol was complicit in her escape, Tyrol cannot plead truthful ignorance like Helo can when he thought Boomer was his wife and had sex with her.
* If Tyrol's treachery does come to light, how will others react? What would Athena do to him? Helo?
* Do all the ships in the Fleet - regardless of their relative crew and passenger size - get to send representatives to the new Quorum? (This is similar to the situation the Framers of the United States Constitution faced when trying to decide if state representation in Congress should be based on individual state population or restricted to the same number of representatives per state).
*If jumping in very close proximity to a ship is a very dangerous thing to do then why then in [[A Disquiet Follows My Soul]] when the tylium ship [[Hitei Kan]] jumped away form the intercepting and boarding Vipers nothing happened to them other than being upended?
** It was dangerous for ''Galactica'' because of its failing structure.
** Also, as noted above, the spatial distortion caused by the Raptor's jump, only reaching part of Galactica, would cause much more shearing force and therefore much more stress on the structure. Since the Raptors in "A Disquiet Follows My Soul" are much smaller than the tylium ship, they were pretty much 'bounced' off the spatial rift
* Why was Sonja elected to represent the Cylons?
** The Sixes appear to be the most influential leaders within the rebel Cylon society, and posess the most individuality. Caprica Six sowed the seeds of the Cylon Civil War, Natalie led the revolt, and Sixes generally were in senior positions in the occupation government of New Caprica.
* Did Boomer intentionally jump so close to ''Galactica'' in order to further damage the already weakened ship? Is this a prelude to an attack on the Fleet by Cavil's forces?
* Since Boomer was able to find the fleet, why doesn't Cavil just jump in and attack the Fleet? Surely he has superior numbers. Is it merely because of fear of death, since they can no longer resurrect?
** Cavil seems to want Hera- this would only be possible by using Boomer as an infiltrator rather than attacking ''Galactica'' outright. Attacking the Fleet would only result in them jumping away anyway.
*** Also, Cavil probably doesn't want to risk accidentally killing the Final Five, who he needs to regain the ability to resurrect.
* What is the current status of [[Caprica-Six]]?
* Where did the piano in [[Joe's Bar]] come from?
* Will the Helice Opera House have any connection to the visions of the [[Opera House]] shared by Roslin, [[Caprica-Six]], and Athena?

* With the ''Galactica'' in the shape she is in now, how are the civilian ships holding up? Are they in a similar condition? Could this explain why there is only 35 ships mentioned remaining in the fleet?
**Very likely much better since they don't take battle damage and generally don't maneuver wildly to attack or evade. However, yes they have been in space constantly for four years likely past several mandatory maintenance checks and overhauls, both minor and major. Still, most of the civilian ships would be in much better shape than ''Galactica'' because they run and don't stand and fight and take hits and many of them are newer than ''Galactica''.
** If 35 is indeed the correct number of ships in the Fleet, then nearly half the Fleet's ships have been lost. Given that few have been seen to be lost on screen, the majority of these losses probably occurred during the rapid evacuation of the settlement of New Caprica. Many ships would have either have been destroyed trying to flee, or left on the planet's surface. Outside of that, several ships might have been abandoned off screen due to deteriorating conditions- presumably after being stripped for parts with the civilians moved to other ships or ''Galactica'' herself.

After watching Scattered again recently (my I got my new girlfriend hooked on BSG so I am rewatching all the episodes with her) I noticed that Gaeta refers to himself as the OOD, or Officer On Deck, in the head with Dee. (PS by the way, why were they in the same head? Dee is enlisted, Gaeta is an officer. Moving on.) So here's my question: Is OOD a position or a status? ==Flight Wings==
In all the episodes where we see Gaeta wearing the colonial uniform (blue, duty), he's wearing a set of wings which would indicated to me that he is a qualified pilot. :It's a bit weird, but I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that all officers have at least basic Raptor training. Maybe not enough to use them effectively in combat, but to get from A to B in a shuttle flight. Though I'm not sure if that should warrant junior wings, which I'd reserve for combat qualified pilots.

Very, very (very) minor point... Looking at the name 'Gaeta', I always saw it as Latin-esque (whatever the Colonial equivalent of historical Latin would have been - 'Gaius' would be from the same culture, presumably). In Latin, the '-ae-' part would make the name 'GY-ta' rather than 'GAY-ta', and in the Miniseries that seems to be how it was pronounced. Now that Part 9 of Face of the Enemy reveals what Baltar whispered to Gaeta that got him stabbed with a pen, the Animosity Toward Baltar section (and the accompanying footnote) obviously needs to be updated. Since I haven't done much around here, I didn't want to just go in and mess with what was done previously without discussing it first. Should the footnote be deleted, or just amended? Lieutenant '''Felix Gaeta''' ({{IPA|ˈgeɪ.ɾə}} or "gay-tah") is a young, capable officer in the Colonial military. For the three years prior to the [[Cylon attack]] on the [[The Twelve Colonies (RDM)|Twelve Colonies]], he has served as [[William Adama]]'s Senior Officer of the Watch aboard ''[[Galactica]]''.

Prior to the attack, he was studying biogenetics and planned to get a degree through the military extension program ([[Water]]).

He exhibits a strong attention to detail and is highly efficient. These tendencies and his overall ability have led William Adama to rely heavily on him as a member of ''Galactica's'' command crew, despite his relative youth and junior rank.

As well as performing the role of Tactical Officer, Gaeta also manages the ship's [[FTL]] systems, including the calculation and initiation of jumps. Gaeta also manages the needs of the various primary [[Computers|computer systems]] used on the battlestar.

==Remarkable Brilliance==

As a result of his studies in biogenetics, Lt. Gaeta is selected by Adama to assist Dr. [[Gaius Baltar]] in the development of the much-needed [[Cylon detector]] following the Cylon attack ([[Water]]). During his time working with Baltar, Gaeta develops a certain respect and liking for the doctor - despite the latter's apparent eccentricities. When a woman called "[[Shelly Godfrey]]" arrives aboard ''Galactica'', Gaeta works hard to prove Baltar's innocence of the charges leveled against him ([[Six Degrees of Separation]]). Although he is ultimately successful, Gaeta fails to follow-up on the fact that the photographic evidence supplied by Godfrey looked as if the evidence itself had been faked in a way that ensured it was exposed as a forgery.

Gaeta shows his remarkable brilliance after ''Galactica'' mistakenly jumps to a different set of coordinates than the rest of the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] to escape a Cylon attack ([[Scattered]]). The [[FTL]] computers compensate for spatial changes, but due to the chaos after Commander [[William Adama|Adama]] is shot by [[Sharon Valerii|Boomer]], Gaeta forgets to synchronize the spatial positioning with the rest of the Fleet, whose FTL computers had collectively different information. Complicating the issue, if ''Galactica'' returns to their original position, the Cylons would destroy the ship before it could recalculate the correct Fleet coordinates using standard procedures.

Gaeta blames himself (although [[Saul Tigh]] does not), but later realizes that by networking four computers of the ship (something Commander Adama may never have approved), he could reduce the coordinate calculation time from hours to minutes. Knowing the Cylons would try to crack his ad hoc network, Gaeta sets up five [[Wikipedia:Firewall (networking)|firewalls]] in the network to slow their progress while the ship's guns and Vipers buy the time required for the calculations. Unfortunately for Gaeta, the firewalls are not completely effective. Without him realizing it, the Cylons break through the last firewall before he can disconnect the network. As a result, many vital systems are disabled throughout the ship while [[Cylon Centurion|Centurions]] board the battlestar ([[Valley of Darkness]]). At the end, he manages to purge the systems of any remaining traces of the [[Cylon computer virus|virus]].

==Under Pressure==

Gaeta's calm exterior shows signs of wear when his interview with [[D'Anna Biers]] shows him somewhat drunk, smoking, and brandishing a rather garish [[tattoo]] of a tiger. Viewers learn from the footage that Gaeta's first name is Felix ([[Final Cut]]).

The Cylon virus rears its ugly head once more a few weeks later when shipboard malfunctions increase to a point where consoles begin to sputter and short out. Gaeta confirms that the same virus they thought they had removed from the formerly-networked computers had metamorphized into a heuristic program--a [[logic bomb]]--that studied and probed flaws in the battlestar's computers and the hardware that each system manages. The logic bomb threatenes to disable the ship's human control on a Cylon fighter's command--and a Cylon attack is imminent.

After Colonel Tigh's command to perform the daunting task of inspecting many lines of computer code for a Cylon virus, the young lieutenant completely loses his cool:

Everyone on the bridge, especially Commander Adama, is shocked by Gaeta's highly uncharacteristic outburst, but Adama is not particularly surprised, knowing that everyone on ''Galactica'' has low morale after working for months with no relief or change to their routine.

Gaeta has a solution for the logic bomb: Wipe all computer hard drives and restore them from backups made before the Cylon attack. The problem in doing this is that ''Galactica'' will be completely vulnerable to attack, save for her Viper fighters, for several minutes as her computers are rebuilt.

Against his instincts and on [[Laura Roslin]]'s advice, Adama opts to use the unique abilities of the cooperative [[Sharon Valerii|Caprica copy of Sharon Valerii]] to aid them. Gaeta gives the humanoid Cylon a fiber-optic data link with access to the battlestar mainframe computer and the ship's communications. After a few tense moments, Valerii asks Gaeta to perform the computer hard drive wipe after taking into her computer/brain a copy of the Cylon virus. She manipulates it and transmits to the massive incoming Cylon fleet, disabling the entire Cylon fleet in the same way that the Colonials suffered in the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies]]. The Colonial forces [[Great Cylon Turkey Shoot|destroy the entire Cylon force]] without a single Colonial casualty ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]).

Gaeta is among the tense officers and crew in CIC that witness a standoff between their battlestar and the heavily-advanced battlestar ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]'', whose commander, Admiral [[Helena Cain]], has opted to execute two ''Galactica'' crew members after she tried them herself and against Adama's requests for the rights of his crew to have a fair, open trial ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]).

== The Presidential Election and New Caprica ==

During the presidential election, Gaeta is assigned to aid and oversee the ballot counting process on ''Galactica''. He also aids in thwarting Roslin's plans to steal the election (though he apparently never knew -- or indicates any knowledge of -- who exactly is behind it, other than Colonel [[Saul Tigh]]) by discovering the illegitimate ballots from the ''[[Zephyr]]''. The only reason he realizes that the ''Zephyr'''s ballots were tampered with is due to the fact that the ''Zephyr''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s original, valid ballots had misspelled Gaius Baltar's name -- the fixed ballots did not share this error. (Gaeta had authorized the go-ahead to use the misspelled ballots due to the lack of time to print new ones prior to the opening of the polls.)
Due to this happenstance discovery, Baltar, who had been rightfully voted as President-Elect, was sworn in as president and ordered the Fleet to colonize [[New Caprica]].

A year later on [[New Caprica]], Gaeta seems to be an adviser to President [[Gaius Baltar]]. His previous post on ''Galactica'' is assumed by [[Karl Agathon]]. While Gaeta is pleased that there had been no Cylon attacks during Baltar's presidency, he disapproves of Baltar's womanizing and is secretly infuriated at Baltar's devil-may-care attitude towards the New Caprica City Worker's Union and the Quorum of Twelve. Gaeta later brings news of the Cylon invasion to the president and is present when Baltar surrenders New Caprica to [[Caprica-Six]] and [[Number Five]] ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]).

Gaeta is also the [[New Caprica Resistance]] inside source into the inner workings of the Cylons. He seems to favor an assassination of President Baltar as he provides the group with information that he is going to attend the [[New Caprica Police]] force graduation, which is disrupted by [[Duck]]'s suicide bombing. However, upon learning that Baltar would not attend, he rushes to contact the group to warn them Baltar that is not going to be there ([[Occupation]]).

== Inside Man ==
Being the "inside man" allows him to help the [[New Caprica Resistance]] understand the inner Cylon related activities and security procedures on [[New Caprica]]. For him to contact the group, he flips [[Jake (New Caprica)|Jake]]'s yellow bowl upside down and leaves a note or information packet in a nearby tool bin for the [[New Caprica Resistance|resistance]] to find. [[Galen Tyrol]] does not know that he is the "inside man" and when they talk, Tyrol accuses him of being a collaborator ([[Precipice]]).

== End of the Baltar Administration ==
As the Cylons are preparing to evacuate during the [[Battle of New Caprica]], Gaeta pulls a gun on a distraught President Baltar, clearly intending to kill him. [[Caprica-Six]] attempts to dissuade Gaeta from this course of action. In contrast to his companion's feelings, Baltar seems fully willing to die; but he tells Gaeta that he is the only one who could stop a [[Number Three]]-model Cylon from detonating a nuclear weapon hidden somewhere in the city of New Caprica. This convinces the reluctant Gaeta to let Baltar go, giving the disgraced leader a chance to redeem himself. Gaeta emerges from the same ship behind Colonel Tigh when Tigh asks Admiral Adama for permission to come aboard ''Galactica'' during the post-battle celebration ([[Exodus, Part II]]).

== Return to Duty ==
Gaeta is initially isolated from ''Galactica'''s crew and those who were on New Caprica. Because of his high position in the collaborationist government, they believe he carried out the will of the Cylons. When he arrives in CIC to help with repairs on the communication systems damaged during the recent battle, former resistance leader Colonel Tigh is openly hostile towards him. Gaeta attempts to defend his actions in a tense conversation with [[Kara Thrace]] by revealing himself as Tyrol's mysterious informant. Starbuck doesn't know about the informant, since she was a captive of [[Leoben Conoy]] during the four-month Cylon occupation. She mocks her crewmate and dismisses his revelation as a poorly fabricated lie.

When Gaeta's name comes up for review in the the [[Circle]], he is convicted of collaborating with the enemy and sentenced to death, despite the lack of evidence against him. The six-person tribunal takes him to a Viper [[launch tubes (RDM)|launch tube]] to face his sentence. When asked to defend himself, Gaeta says that he already had and refuses to beg for his life. This infuriates [[Kara Thrace]], who lashes out at him in a physical attack and resumes the mocking she started in the mess hall. Upon hearing Thrace repeat information about the [[Jake (New Caprica)|dog bowl]], Galen Tyrol realizes that Gaeta was indeed the informant from inside the Baltar administration. Gaeta is released and allowed to go. He resumes his duties as a lieutenant, still shunned by most of his crewmates except Tyrol ([[Collaborators]]).

After his recommissioning, he takes over Baltar's scientific duties, concentrating on deciphering his notes and determining the course to Earth. Gaeta appears to have a grudge against Tigh for his part in the Circle that nearly ended in Gaeta's death, as he wears a scowl while everyone else celebrates Tigh's return from his self-exile.

== Animosity towards Baltar ==
Baltar seems to know a secret about Gaeta from their time on New Caprica. During an interrogation, he whispers to Gaeta, "I know what your Eight did," in reference to Gaeta providing lists of names to an Eight, ostensibly to be saved (but in actuality killed by the Cylons). <ref>This was originally the remnant of a subplot that was cut from the storyline, and retconned in order to provide an explanation for the scene. See [[Taking a Break From All Your Worries#From the podcast]] for the explanation</ref>. Baltar's knowledge leads Gaeta to try to kill him by stabbing him in the neck. However, he is stopped and knocked out by Admiral Adama ([[Taking a Break from All Your Worries]]).

During Baltar's trial for which he faces the death penalty, Gaeta commits perjury, claiming that he was there when Baltar signed the death lists and that Baltar offered no resistance in approving them ([[Crossroads, Part II]]).

== Member of the ''Demetrius'' Crew and Beyond ==

Later, Gaeta becomes part of the ''[[Demetrius]]''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s crew on its mission to find Earth ([[The Ties That Bind]]). After [[Kara Thrace]] orders [[Karl Agathon]] to jump to a Cylon [[Basestar (RDM)|baseship]] to retrieve information regarding Earth, Agathon refuses the order believing it to be too risky. When he is relieved by Thrace, she appoints Gaeta as her new [[XO]] and gives him the same order. Like Agathon, Gaeta refuses to comply with the order, creating a standoff between the ship's officers which leads Agathon to relieve Thrace of command ([[The Road Less Traveled]]). During this standoff Anders shoots Gaeta in the leg before he can initiate a jump back to ''Galactica''. Having to wait 15 hours for a Raptor to return, Gaeta is worried that he will lose his leg because of the lack of proper medical treatement ([[Faith]]).

Returned to ''Galactica'', Gaeta does lose his leg. In recovery, he deals with the stress and phantom pain by singing a [[Gaeta's Lament|mournful ballad]] over and over ([[Guess What's Coming to Dinner?]]). Shortly later, he returns to duty, still in pain from his ordeal, but refusing to be relieved ([[Revelations]]).

In the webisode "[[The Face of the Enemy]]" it is revealed that Gaeta is in a romantic relationship with [[communications officer]] Lieutenant [[Louis Hoshi]].

Humanoid Cylon speculation

The [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylons']] transformation into twelve distinct [[Humanoid Cylon|humanoid forms]] introduces serious problems for the remnant of humanity known as the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] to identify Cylon operative from human. At the beginning of their journey it seemed that anyone could be a humanoid Cylon, causing doubt and suspicion within the human populace (as evidenced in "[[Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down]]").

In the real world speculation about who could be a Cylon infiltrator in the Fleet has also been rife among fans of the show. Over the course of the miniseries and the first two seasons viewers were introduced to the "[[Significant Seven]]", however the natures of each of these characters were all revealed shortly after the characters' introductions.

In season three the nature of speculation for both the characters and the fans turned to the [[Final Five]], enigmatic, almost-mystical figures who seemed to have a [[The Temple of Five|link]] to ancient colonial history. The nature of the five, according to [[Ron D. Moore|Moore]], is "fundamentally different" from the other seven models<ref>{{cite_rdm_podcast|episode=Frak Party Q and A|act=|id=ffdifferent|timestamp=19:05|totalrunning=78:27}}</ref>.

At the conclusion of "[[Crossroads, Part II]]" four recurring characters are revealed to be Cylons. The revelation that long standing characters such as Colonel [[Saul Tigh|Tigh]] and Chief [[Galen Tyrol|Tyrol]] were Cylons blew the field wide open, if they could be "[[toaster]]s," then ''anyone'' could be the last Cylon. In particular, Tigh has a long and well-documented character history dating back to the first [[Cylon War]].

==General factors for consideration==
In terms of narrative, to prevent an anti-climax it seems likely that the final Cylon would probably need to be a more prominent character than those of the Four. This centers the spotlight in the central "human" characters ([[Roslin]], [[William Adama|William]] and [[Lee Adama]], [[Gaius Baltar|Baltar]] and [[Kara Thrace|Starbuck]]). However, there is still an entire season for characters to develop and gain significance with viewers.

With the Final Five being "fundamentally different" from the Seven, extrapolating any characteristics we learned of Cylons from the Seven (including physiology, loyalty or self-awareness) is of questionable validity.

Colonel Tigh has a well documented history stretching back at least to the first Cylon War. Also considering the [[Temple of Five]], Final Five Cylons, somehow, significantly pre-date the Seven.

It has been seen that Cylons can start families, however it is unclear how the Five came to exist. Having known natural parents would ''seem'' to preclude one being any more than half-Cylon.

Of the 11 so far there have been only four female models (and [[Number Three|one]] has been [[boxed]]). The final Cylon being female would serve to equalize this gender bias.

The [[first Hybrid]] gives a monologue about his knowledge of the Final Five in the extended version of "[[Razor]]". It states that "...the fifth is still is in shadow, drawn toward the light, hungering for redemption, that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering."

The colonies' president has been unquestionably a boon to humanity's search for earth, indeed the two times she has been removed from office have been the two greatest setbacks in the journey. Though her loyalty is unquestionable, her past is more difficult to ascertain. Roslin has never discussed her family in any way.

Roslin has also experienced prophetic dreams and visions (those induced by [[chamalla]], and a dream she shared with the Cylons [[Caprica Six]] and [[Sharon Agathon]]). She fits very well the profile of the [[Sacred Scrolls|scroll's]] dying leader, the scrolls also having links to other more mystical elements of the series, including the [[Temple of Five]].

However her dying nature, from an aggressive form of breast cancer is also the biggest cause to doubt Roslin being a Cylon. It is unknown whether the Final Five can succumb to cancer, but Cylons seem to be generally tougher than humans. Baltar's cure in "[[Epiphanies]]" was probably designed based on the assumption that Roslin's physiology is human.

===[[William Adama]]===

If William Adama were revealed to be a Cylon, it would be one of the biggest shocks the series could produce. Overall Adama appears to epitomize a very human set of strengths and weaknesses. Nevertheless, he does experience hallucinations in the fifth [[Razor Flashback]], although he sees and hears people in his environment instead of seeing himself in a different one. The experience could also be explained by stress or other factors, however.

The Adama family is well documented. His father, [[Joseph Adama]], was known to [[Romo Lampkin]]. The proposed spin-off ''[[Caprica (series)|Caprica]]'', would have featured the history of the Adama family. This may have been difficult to square with any revelation about William Adama being a Cylon.

William Adama experiences guilt for actions he believe may have triggered the war ([[Hero]]). This could be the "hungering for redemption" that the [[First Hybrid]] talks about (see above).

Could Lee's chronic angst be partly due to guilt at his Cylon nature? Was the [[Leoben]] who said "Adama's a Cylon" ([[Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down]]) referring to Lee? (note: the writers hadn't decided on the identity of the final Cylon at that point). He might project in "[[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]", although this is more likely an oxygen deprivation induced hallucination.

In his defense, Lee is also a member of the well-documented Adama family. A "switched at birth" scenario could explain this.

Lee is characterised by near chronic angst for various reasons. Could he be the one "hungering for redemption"?

Lee is told that he is "a son trying to flee his father's shadow" by [[Romo Lampkin]]. This conceivably could link with the description of the final Cylon as "still in shadow, drawn toward the light."

===[[Gaius Baltar]]===

Baltar's vast intelligence, weak character and lack of loyalty to anyone but himself have made him ultimately humanity's (unwitting) betrayer. Baltar himself longs to be a Cylon as this would absolve himself, however comes to the conclusion that he is human after all. Baltar certainly has a lot to be guilty about, but whether he has enough of a conscience to be truly "hungering for redemption" is questionable.

There are good reasons to suspect Baltar. He exhibits vast intelligence that may be superhuman in nature. His [[Virtual Six]], her precognitive abilities, and the apparently projected environments they often co-experience are suspicious, as well as the fact that both Virtual Six and later the [[Hybrid]] tell him that he is "chosen".

In [[Caprica Six]]'s final vision in "[[Crossroads, Part II]]" she sees the hooded figures of the final five staring at her from the upper level. Baltar is standing next to her in the vision as well.

===[[Kara Thrace]]===

Kara Thrace's path towards her destiny has involved many strange, perhaps supernatural events. Whether this destiny involves her being a Cylon is a matter of speculation (indeed members of the [[Significant Seven]], who do not know who the final five are, tell Starbuck she has this destiny), but it is certain Thrace is ''something'' special.

Certainly Thrace exhibits phenomenal natural skill as a pilot, and manages to learn to fly a [[Cylon Raider (RDM)|Raider]] exceptionally quickly ([[You Can't Go Home Again]]). From childhood, Thrace has been drawing the mandala from the [[Temple of Five]]. However she was also physically abused as a child and still carries the scars; Cylons seem to be more robust than humans and possibly may not carry such long-term injuries. The same may be said of the knee injury which put a stop to Thrace's [[Pyramid (RDM)|Pyramid]] playing ambitions.

Most strikingly, the ace pilot apparently dies in "[[Maelstrom]]" but returns ([[Resurrection (RDM)|resurrected]]?) in "[[Crossroads, Part II]]". Furthermore, not being on ''Galactica'' at the time, Thrace is the only major "human" character who has a reason for not reacting to the [[The Music|music]] which, to the "four", reverberates around the ship. However the final Cylon may, for some reason, not have heard it, or may have ignored it.

Based upon the mutterings of the Hybrid in "Razor", as well as Ron Moore's claim that he has already left clues to the final Cylon, one may assume Tom Zarek is the last Cylon to be found.

Tom Zarek likes to move from second-line positions, is not big on being in charge but always craving to be noticed and understood, is constantly trying to make people understand why he did the things he spent time in jail for, and has the "cleanest" past (no known relatives, etc.). His criminal background and political ambitions fit with someone "hungering for redemption."

The January 2008 edition of [[w:Entertainment Weekly|Entertainment Weekly]] showcases a two-page photo of the cast for [[Season Four]] posed in a manner similar to Leonardo DaVinci's ''[[w:The Last Supper (Leonardo)|The Last Supper]]'' with an explanation of each character's pose/position provided by Ron Moore. Near the far left of the table a space is left vacant and a cup sits on the table marking the absent character's intended place. Moore tells EW that "We have not yet revealed the final [unknown] Cylon." and when asked if there was a possibility that the final Cylon was indeed ''not'' seated at the table Moore notes "You ferreted that out pretty slyly. However, the importance of this photo is seriously put to question given [[Aaron Douglas]]' comments on the photo. According to the actor, he was unsure that Moore had anything to do with the photo, given that Moore was not present for the shoot. The virtual beings (possibly including the [[virtual Leoben]]) may actually be a single entity, the final Cylon being more spiritual than corporal. Virtual Six claims to be an angel from the Cylon God, which could be roughly correlated with the "the five priests devoted to the one whose name cannot be spoken" from [[Pythia]]. The overall actions of these beings seem to be neither pro-Cylon or pro-human, which fits with the Final five being a third party in the dynamic of the battle.

None of the other final five have shown similar characteristics to this, and there is no particular reason to suggest the final Cylon is greatly different from his or her four "siblings". When Number Three sees her vision of the final five in the [[Opera House]] (a vision repeated for other characters, thus not simply in her mind) they are five humanoid figures in white robes, at least one of which is known to her.

During their forty years of isolation, the Cylons developed or evolved into a ''humanoid form''<ref>The idea of Cylons in humanoid form in ''Battlestar Galactica'' is not new. This concept appeared over 25 years earlier in the episode "[[The Night the Cylons Landed, Part I|The Night the Cylons Landed]]" in the short-lived spinoff of the Original Series, ''[[Galactica 1980]]''. Unlike the humanoid Cylons, however, [[Andromus]] was an [[Wikipedia:Android|android]], akin to the character of [[MemoryAlpha:Data|Data]] from ''[[MemoryAlpha:Star Trek: The Next Generation|Star Trek: The Next Generation]]''.</ref>.

The creation of the humanoid Cylon is left to speculation based on series events. While the opening credits claim that the Cylons "evolved", the concept of biological evolution (in the [[Wikipedia:Darwinism|Darwinian fashion]]) is impossible with mechanical beings. The "evolution" is obviously a planned architectural change from the mechanical to the biomechanical for the inherent Cylon design.

The first step in their evolution from pure machines to organic beings was known as the "[[First Hybrid|Hybrid]]." Other [[hybrid]]s were later created to control [[Basestar (RDM)|baseships]] ([[Razor]]). Exactly how the original Cylon, the [[Cylon Centurion Model 0005]], a sentient robot "evolved" to the humanoid form is uncertain.<ref>Information noted from the start of [[Miniseries]] (the existence of the [[Armistice Station]]) indicates that the original Cylons were not only sentient, but capable of intense emotion. [[William Adama]] confirms that the new robotic successor to the Model 0005 were built by the humanoid Cylons without sentience to avoid the possibility of the new [[Cylon Centurion]] from creating an overthrow attempt at their humanoid masters.</ref> Saul Tigh, a humanoid Cylon, has an apparent age that would place his birth (if he was born) well before the first Cylon War, and possibly even before the creation of the original mechanical Cylon. His military record documents his existence during the war. [[Number Three]]'s conversation with [[Cavil]] immediately before she was [[boxing|boxed]] indicates that the humanoid Cylons do not know who programmed them or why.<ref>The final scene of "[[Rapture]]".</ref>

Series information shows that the humanoid Cylons existed in secret for at least two years prior to the [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|Colonies' destruction]]. This information does not provide concrete evidence as to when the first models were created or how long they have been among the human population. [[Final Five|Some of them]] were among the human population for at least several decades prior to the war.

==Physiology and Psychology==
Humanoid Cylons are visually indistinguishable from humans, down to the cellular level, but not completely at a molecular level. Dr. [[Gaius Baltar]] is able to create a [[Cylon detector|detector]] that can distinguish Cylon from human, but rarely used the device to a positive end ([[Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down]]).

Each humanoid Cylon has the same face, stature, hair, eye and skin color, gender, apparent age, and other biometrics as all the others of his or her model. This point technically makes each copy a twin of itself, but there are some models that choose to make cosmetic differences. Examples include [[D'Anna Biers]], [[Gina Inviere]], and a Number Six model with black hair ([[Torn]]). In addition, each copy appears to start with the same basic personality, but each personality grows more distinct due to their individual experiences.

Humanoid Cylons can be programmed as 'sleeper agents', who appear to have a low-level Cylon personality that can conduct operations while placing the human sleeper personality "on-hold." [[Sharon Valerii (Galactica copy)|"Boomer" Valerii]] was one such agent ([[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]). Most agent copies, particularly [[Number Five|Numbers Five]] [[Number Six|and Six]], assume a human persona but are fully aware of their true nature and behave more or less as a human "spy."

They are susceptible to the same emotional traumas and joys that their human counterparts are, further proving that personalities are a realistic part of their psyche. A case in point is a copy of Number Six, known as [[Gina Inviere]], who is physically and sexually assaulted repeatedly by the crew of ''[[Pegasus (RDM)|Pegasus]]''. These repeated assaults lead to Inviere's near-catatonic state at the time ''Pegasus'' discovers the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] ([[Pegasus (episode)|Pegasus]]).

Humanoid Cylons can dream, a process that appears to be natural to them<ref>A Number Three speaks casually to Doctor [[Cottle]] about her [[Dodona Selloi|prophetic dreams]] of the child [[Hera Agathon|Hera]] in "[[Exodus, Part I]]".</ref>.

Some or all Cylon female models may have the capacity to bear children seeded by human males ("[[33]]", "[[Flesh and Bone]]", "[[The Hand of God (RDM)|The Hand of God]]", "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]"). The Cylons tested numerous methods of sexual reproduction, yet these failed due to a known flaw in their design. Humanoid Cylons cannot reproduce with each other biologically, so in an attempt to subvert this deficiency, they try to interbreed with humans, creating hybrid offspring. "[[Farms]]" were set up across all the occupied Colonies where survivors, specifically, young fertile women of child-bearing age, were rounded up, placed under heavy sedation and turned into "baby machines" through artificial insemination<ref>Ron Moore said there are presumably also farms for male humans, plus ''in vitro'' experiment labs, etc.</ref>. However, this methods have been unsuccessful thus far. Another drastically different approach is taken by attempting to conceive a child through a bond of love. To most of the characters it seems that [[Karl Agathon|Helo]] and [[Sharon Agathon|Athena]]'s love-child, [[Hera Agathon|Hera]] is the lone success story of the relatively short history of Cylon sexual reproduction ([[The Farm]]), with the hybrid nature of [[Galen Tyrol]]'s child [[Nicholas Tyrol]] unknown to anyone but the four recently revealed members of the Final Five.

The bodies of humanoid Cylons sometimes appear to have tremendous stamina and strength, and appear to be designed to destroy or resist commonly dangerous human diseases<ref>The blood from [[Hera Agathon|Hera]]'s fetus destroys the cancer within [[Laura Roslin]]'s body in "[[Epiphanies]]".</ref>, although they are not immune from all contagions<ref>An infection ravages the Cylons in the episode, "[[Torn]]".</ref>. Upon the death of its body, a humanoid Cylon's consciousness is automatically transferred into another copy of itself. This "[[Resurrection (RDM)|resurrection]]" is limited by signal integrity and proximity to the Cylon homeworld or a [[Resurrection Ship]] ([[Miniseries]], "[[Flesh and Bone]]", "[[Resurrection Ship, Part II]]").

It appears that all humanoid Cylons share a ''collective knowledge base'' of data from other active or deactivated humanoid Cylons, regardless of their model.<ref>A collective knowledge base works more like an internet chat forum, or even a wiki, which differs from the concept of the collective consciousness as seen in SciFi species such as the Borg in ''Star Trek.'' Writers of the show have indicated this type of "hive mind" is ''not'' employed. Many Cylons are seen describing or detailing events that one of the models experienced but did not participate, such as [[Sharon Agathon|Caprica-Valerii's]] description of meeting Kara Thrace for the first time--a memory physically experienced not by that Number Eight copy, but [[Sharon Valerii|"Boomer" Valerii]], in "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]". When under duress, "Boomer" Valerii is able to tell [[Gaius Baltar]] the number of remaining humanoid Cylons in the Fleet. Their psychology is based on what they simply refer to as "[[projection]]". Essentially an enhanced form of a self-induced and controlled hallucination, projection is how they choose to see the world around them, in any form they wish, whenever they wish. For example, if a Cylon were standing in a hallway, they could choose to see it as a forest filled with birds, trees, and sunlight. This mode of visualization is pleasing to humanoid Cylons ([[Torn]])<ref>[[Gaius Baltar]]'s dreamlike interactions with his [[Virtual beings|virtual Number Six]] is strikingly similar to Cylon projection. Although they cannot do so remotely or wirelessly, humanoid Cylons can interface with a [[Computers in the Re-imagined Series|computer system]] or computer network by photo-electrical means. They can perform this through subdermal physical contact if required ([[Flight of the Phoenix]]) or, preferably, through a [[Cylon data port]]<ref>[[Sharon Agathon]] steals back the Fleet's [[launch key]]s by infiltrating a Cylon base by using a Cylon data port. Humanoid Cylons are seen operating a basestar in the episode "[[Torn]]" by touching an optical pad that illuminates these arm interfaces.</ref>. This might be possible through the use of bio-luminescent and photosensitive cells in their hands.

The presence of a water-like fluid as an integral part of the basestar, the ability to interface photo-electronically through subdermal and dermal contact, and the fact that humanoid Cylon are anatomically indistinguishable from human beings, implies that the techniques used in their creation are advanced enough to incorporate cybernetic functions into their design without the use of specific internal structures other than human-like organs.

After being "stared at" by a [[Raider (RDM)|Cylon Raider]], [[Samuel Anders]]'s right eye briefly flashes red, the Raider responds to this apparent [[IFF]] procedure by flying away, and a Cylon fleet attacking the Colonials retreats ([[He That Believeth In Me]]).

These can be divided into two separate groups, the "Significant Seven"<ref name="sign7">{{cite_rdm_podcast|episode=Frak Party Q and A|act=|id=Sig7|timestamp=19:14|totalrunning=78:27}}</ref> and the "Final Five".
According to show producers, the two groups are "fundamentally different." Material above only applies to the Significant Seven. The religion, origin, physiology and cybernetic properties of the Final Five remain largely unrevealed.

The twelve models have numerical designations, however only four of these have been revealed so far. With the exceptions of Three and Six, most models are referred to by their "human names", even by other Cylons. There appears to be no significance to any of the specific numbers assigned to the different Cylons.<ref>On [http://blog.scifi.com/battlestar/ Ronald D. Moore's blog on Scifi.com], he stated that "Number Six was specifically a homage to 'The Prisoner,' but the rest [of the humanoid Cylons] were assigned their numbers randomly."</ref>

Seven models revealed to the viewers as Cylons have also been revealed to the central Colonial characters within the first two seasons. There are many copies of each model, although the specific number of copies per model has not been specified.

First seen posing as a reporter from the [[Fleet News Service]], this model is revealed to be a Cylon at the end of "[[Final Cut]]" when a second copy is shown living on Caprica. Threes seem to be the most calculating and duplicitous models shown to-date, even manipulating and deceiving other models if they feel warranted. The copy that tried to [[Boxed|box]] Sharon Valerii exhibited these characteristics strongly in the episode, "[[Downloaded]]".

This model's status as a Cylon is unknown to the Colonials until either shortly after the rescue of the surviving members of the [[Caprica Resistance]] ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]), or after the Cylon occupation of [[New Caprica]] ([[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]].)

After the Threes defy other Cylon models in their attempt to discern the identity of the [[Final Five|five missing Cylon humanoids]], the other Cylons conclude that the Three model has an inherent flaw that threatens their overall reliability. After the failure on the [[algae planet]] to gather information on the path to [[Earth (RDM)|Earth]], the Cylons have all Number Three models [[boxing|boxed]] indefinitely.

This model attempts to sow the seeds of discontent or confusion, particularly during crucial life-threatening situations, and endeavors to undermine authority that threatens his objectives ([[Miniseries]]). Number Five models are more covert, assuming an ordinary "everyman" appearance that's blended in what may seem to be insignificant behind-the-scenes issues (such as converting ''Galactica'' into a museum). Of all the models thus far, the Number Five models are the most militant, fanatic and consistent in message and objectives to the Cylon objectives, whether he is dispassionately discussing the fate of humanity with his comrades or attempting to kill or maim Colonials in a suicide bomb attack ([[Litmus]]).

Viewers first meet a Number Five during a tour of ''Galactica'' with other Colonial citizens (possibly the press) at the start of the Miniseries, but are not sure of the Cylon's true identity until the Miniseries' conclusion.

This is the first humanoid Cylon model shown to viewers at the start of the [[Miniseries]].

Stunningly beautiful, promiscuous and sensual, this model utilizes the human need and desire for sexual relations to her advantage. She tends to be very religious and monotheistic. Number 6 desires to know what it is to be alive. There is something inherently enigmatic about her, more so than with the other models. Sixes have been described as "usually so hardcore", referring to their tendencies towards violence.

Copies of this model have appeared under the aliases "[[Shelly Godfrey]]", "[[Gina Inviere]]", and "[[Caprica-Six|Caprica]]" (in honor of her work on Caprica towards the destruction of the Colonies). A [[Virtual Six]], whom only [[Gaius Baltar]] can see is a mainstay of the cast, and is clearly the dominant party in their "relationship".

Number Eight is generally a saboteur designed to infiltrate Colonial military units and is likely programmed to use any Colonial munitions to cause havoc ([[Water]]). The Number Eight model is the closest witnessed humanoid Cylon model to show its abilities as a soldier. This model has shown naiveté in many matters. She is apparently not as religious as other Cylon models, but has demonstrated that she can love, and is capable of being impregnated by a human ("[[Six Degrees of Separation]]", "[[Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II]]").

She may be "defective", as the Cylon programming within the sleeper agent known as "Boomer" on ''Galactica'' conflicts multiple times with its human personality ([[Water]]). Also, the fully aware Sharon Valerii found by [[Karl Agathon|Helo]] on Caprica switches alliances from Cylon to Colonial after falling in love with Helo and aids the Colonials [[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II|for a time]] (several episodes, most notably "[[Flight of the Phoenix]]"). Number Eight is the third humanoid Cylon introduced during the [[Miniseries]]. However, viewers do not discover her true identity until the very end of the Miniseries when a second copy of Sharon Valerii appears at [[Ragnar Anchorage]] while retrieving an abandoned copy of Number Five.

A copy of this model has appeared under the name "[[Sharon Valerii|Sharon "Boomer" Valerii]]." One copy, [[Sharon Agathon|Sharon "Athena" Agathon]], has defected from the Cylon and has joined the Colonial Fleet, generally replacing her "Boomer" counterpart as a [[Raptor]] pilot.

Leoben Conoy (model number unknown) is the fourth model seen by viewers (although viewers would not know until the end of the [[Miniseries]] that they had already seen the third introduced humanoid Cylon, Sharon Valerii). The Conoy model has shown to be mystically oriented--making references to the oneness of the universe, the illusion of time, etc.--and claims to be prescient on some level, albeit with a known propensity for intermixing truth with falsehoods. He is first discovered on [[Ragnar Station]], claiming to be a scavenger and arms dealer ([[Miniseries]]).

The Conoy models also appear obsessed with matters of mating, bonding, and reproduction, as demonstrated by a particular model's fascination and obsession with [[Kara Thrace]] ("[[Flesh and Bone]]", "[[Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II]]", "[[Occupation]]", "[[Precipice]]" and "[[Exodus, Part II]]").

Conoy can be likened to the serpent of the [[w:Genesis|Genesis]] tale in the Earth [[w:Bible|Christian Bible]], taunting people with knowledge, then watching as the negative consequences come into devastating fruition. Leoben copies have likely been encountered by the [[Caprica Resistance]], as [[Samuel Anders]] recites in jest some comments made by another Leoben copy captured in the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] ("[[Flesh and Bone]]", "[[The Farm]]").

The Simon model (model number unknown) is first encountered by [[Kara Thrace]] on Cylon-occupied [[Caprica (RDM)|Caprica]]. Posing as a doctor, this Simon is actually involved with the Cylon hybridization program. Simon resembles a tall, somewhat thin middle-aged black man who speaks in a comforting strong voice ([[The Farm]]) Unlike other models, Simon does not seem to have many military aspects to his physical or mental configuration, and is easily overcome by a wounded Thrace. Simon may be a model based primarily on human intellectualism and logic<ref>A Simon expresses the moral dilemmas of rescuing a crippled basestar as having no scientific answer in "[[Torn]]".</ref>. It is unknown if a Simon model infiltrated the [[The Fleet (RDM)|Fleet]] prior to the occupation of [[New Caprica]]. In any case, the model is now known to the general populace, many humans likely saw a Simon model during the occupation.

One of the Cavil models (model number unknown) poses as a Colonial [[Religion in the Twelve Colonies (RDM)#Brothers|brother,]] a lay clergyman in the Fleet.

Cavil models do not appear to subscribe to overall theology of the Cylons, but adhere to group consensus, and often are persuasive leaders. Cavils have displayed a condescending attitude toward the beliefs of the other six known Cylons at times.

In several instances, the Cavils advocate dark, draconian solutions to the insurgency on [[New Caprica]] that reveal a militant zeal equaling that of Numbers Three and Five.

The identities of the remaining five Cylon models remained a mystery long after the revelation of the identities of the "Significant Seven".

In "[[Torn]]", [[Caprica-Six]] mentions to [[Gaius Baltar]] that the Cylons do not talk about the missing five humanoid Cylons. In the same episode, Baltar confirms that, during his time with the Cylons on occupied New Caprica and on a basestar, he only saw the first seven models. It is later revealed that the Significant seven themselves do not know (or have repressed) the identities of these final five models.

In "[[Crossroads, Part II]]" four major characters discover they are Cylons: [[Galen Tyrol]], [[Saul Tigh]], [[Samuel Anders]] and [[Tory Foster]]. They were previously unaware of their nature, and this information is limited only to themselves. While shocked by their discovery, they all remain loyal to humanity.<ref>Ron Moore noted in his podcasts and interviews that these characters are "fundamentally different" Cylons, where much of what was defined as a humanoid Cylon may not apply to these models.</ref>

==Human/Cylon Hybrids==

Conceived by the Eight believed to be [[Sharon Agathon|Sharon Valerii]] and [[Karl Agathon|Helo]], the infant [[Hera Agathon]] is the first known human/Cylon hybrid<ref>These beings should not be confused with the living computer of a [[Basestar (RDM)|basestar]], also called a [[Hybrid]].</ref>.

[[Gaius Baltar]]'s internal [[Number Six]] regularly insists that Hera is actually the child of herself and Baltar, though there is no physical reason yet presented to justify that claim.

For some time Hera was hidden away from both humans and Cylons, and believed to be dead by her parents. President [[Laura Roslin]] had the baby hidden with [[Maya]] as her adoptive parent. Despite Roslin's attempts to protect the child on [[New Caprica]], Hera is later found by the Cylons ([[Exodus, Part II]]).

After Hera's mother discovers that her daughter is alive, she uses her ability to [[Resurrection (RDM)|download]] to transport to the Cylon ships, and manages to convince [[Caprica-Six]] to return the child to ''Galactica'' for medical treatment for a possible intestinal blockage, which the Cylon doctors, lacking pediatric knowledge, were unable to comprehend ([[Rapture]]).

A child, [[Kacey]], is presented by a Conoy model to [[Kara Thrace]] as an hybrid offspring purportedly created with their genetic material in the episode "[[Occupation]]". The Cylons' ruse is revealed when Kacey's human mother later claims the child ([[Exodus, Part II]]).

[[Nicholas Tyrol]] is also a Cylon/human hybrid ([[Crossroads, Part II]], <ref>{{cite_rdm_podcast|episode=Frak Party Q and A|act=|id=hybridnick|timestamp=22:41|totalrunning=78:27}}</ref>).
