"The Face of the Enemy" is a webisode series featuring Felix Gaeta and two Number Eights who, along with a handful humans, are stranded on a Raptor and mysteriously begin to die one by one. These events take place six to nine days after "Revelations".

Summary
Episode 1
* Release date: December 12, 2008
* Running time: ~4:11

A blood-covered Felix Gaeta is in a Raptor adrift in deep space, nine days after the events of "Revelations". Flashbacks of a list of names being written on a pad, a Number Eight cutting into her palm, a pair of needle-nose pliers, and a struggle inside the Raptor segue to three days before (six days after "Revelations").

Over his protests, an exhausted Gaeta is ordered by Colonel Saul Tigh to take a week's leave aboard the Zephyr to recover. On his way to the hangar bay, Lt. Louis Hoshi catches up with him in the hallway, gives him morpha for his pain, then kisses him goodbye, evincing a romantic relationship. Joining Gaeta on the flight are deckhand Brooks, two Number Eights, and the Raptor shuttle flight crew, Lt. J. "Shark" Finnegan and "Easy" Esrin.

With the Raptor 15 minutes away from the Zephyr, DRADIS picks up hostile Cylon contacts and the Fleet is forced to make an emergency jump. The Raptor completes its jump, but discovers that the Fleet is nowhere to be seen.

Episode 2
* Release date: December 15, 2008
* Running time: ~3:42

Shark broadcasts on wireless to any ships that might be nearby, Easy says she entered the right coordinates, and Gaeta's stump starts to act up. A worried Brooks suggests jumping back, thinking the Fleet might have left a Raptor behind for a little while, but the Eights don't think so, since that could give away their position to Cavil's ships. Gaeta is sure that the Fleet knows that they are missing and sent someone back to look, but that they can't find out because the jump drive isn't responding. Brooks begins to pray to Poseidon, puzzling the Eights since they are a long way from water, but Brooks replies they are in a ship after all. Shark discovers that the drive isn't responding because they have jumped over the red line and are thus unable to jump back to their starting point. The Eight in a Cylon flight suit ("Hard Eight") says she suspects as much, since she doesn't recognize the star patterns. Gaeta sits at the aft workstation and determines that the FTL computer's calculations were corrupted. Shark reasons that getting back to the Fleet is not impossible, just harder, and as Hard Eight and the others continue their discussion, the other Eight ("Sweet Eight") asks Gaeta if he recognizes her.

Back on Galactica, Hoshi is clearly worried for Gaeta. The DRADIS contact was a false alarm, the Fleet has jumped back to their original coordinates, and there has been no sign of the missing Raptor for two days. He asks Tigh for a Raptor and a pilot to search for the missing Raptor, explaining that just as something in the universe led them to Earth, he knows he can find them. He stops short of revealing just how close he is to Gaeta and instead asserts that there has been too much loss already. Tigh agrees to Hoshi's request, but will have to run it by Admiral Adama.

Back aboard the Raptor, Shark determines how long they can last out there. The limiting factor is the air supply; since the Raptor was on shuttle detail, the CO2 scrubbers were not fully functional. They have only 20 ½ hours with the air thinned out to 68% of ship-normal O2, so everyone must limit their exertion and sleep as much as they can to stretch out the supply. Easy points out that at that oxygen level people experience memory loss, irrational behavior, depression and dizziness.

Episode 3
* Release date: December 17, 2008
* Running time: ~2:42

Brooks offers to take a look at the Raptor's CO2 scrubbers and opens a side panel. Meanwhile, Gaeta recognizes Sweet Eight. A flashback to 15 months earlier on Cylon-occupied New Caprica shows the two meeting in a tent, with Gaeta looking over a list of names and handing it to the Eight. Gaeta looks concerned as Sweet Eight leaves the tent.

Brooks finds a loose connection, but has trouble reaching it. Hard Eight offers to take over, and Brooks hands her his pliers. She reaches it, then stiffens as she is electrocuted. Esrin kicks her free, and Gaeta checks for a pulse before declaring her dead. Brooks is stunned, exclaiming, "My gods, I was just doing that! I was just doing that same thing!" Sweet Eight calls attention to the pliers. Gaeta finds that the insulating grip has been stripped off and asks, "Who did this?"

Episode 4
* Release date: December 22, 2008
* Running time: ~3:12

Shark examines the pliers and observes they are old and that the grips wore off, but Sweet Eight suggests that it wasn't an accident, that "someone didn't like the idea of a machine breathing their air." Brooks points that the pliers were his and he was the one who was supposed to have been killed, but Sweet Eight replies not unless he was the one who stripped the grips and questions how he could not have noticed the bare metal. Gaeta quashes the growing argument, saying it was an accident, and asks what to do with the corpse. Sweet Eight wants to jettison her, noting that she will otherwise begin to decay and corrupt the air, and that the oxygen in the cabin can be sucked back into the tanks with only a little loss. As flight suits are broken out and put on, Sweet Eight whispers to Gaeta that she has an idea how to get them home, that she will tell him when the others are asleep, and asks her him to trust her.

In a flashback to New Caprica, Gaeta writes down a list of names and what look like serial numbers for Sweet Eight. He tells her he hasn't seen some of these people in a long time, and they may already be dead. Sweet Eight reassures Gaeta that the Number Ones keep good records, and if some of them are locked up, she can find them and get them out, and reassures him that they can do this.

Back in the Fleet, Lt. Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson and Hoshi launch from Galactica in Raptor 1029.
Episode 5
* Release date: December 24, 2008
* Running time: ~4:42

The crew jettison Hard Eight's body. Afterwards, they settle down to sleep. Gaeta, apparently in pain, touches his stump and injects himself with a dose of morpha. Sweet Eight sees this but pretends to be asleep. Gaeta falls asleep as well and flashes back to New Caprica again, remembering Sweet Eight telling him she managed to get some of the people on his list out of detention. Others, she says, were already dead. She is particularly upset about a child whose fate is still a mystery and begins crying. Gaeta reassures her that they've done good and slowly leans in to kiss her.

In the present, Sweet Eight wakes Gaeta while the other three still sleep and proposes her plan. She will hook into the Raptor's systems much as Sharon Agathon once did on the rescue mission to Caprica (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I), in order to determine the corrupted memory address that made them jump to the wrong location. However, she is afraid that the others will think she is sabotaging the ship, so she asks Gaeta to cover for her while she works. Gaeta accidentally jars Brooks, who doesn't move. The two notice that Brooks has died of an overdose of Gaeta's morpha. Shark and Easy wake up and accuse Sweet Eight of having killed Brooks. Easy aims her pistol at Eight, who is shackled. Gaeta protests, but Eight tells them that she understands.

Episode 6
* Release date: December 29, 2008
* Running time: ~4:06

Raptor 1029 jumps into empty space on the first leg of Hoshi and Racetrack's search for the missing Raptor. They are disappointed to find nothing within DRADIS range, and make a second FTL jump to continue the search.

Back on the stranded Raptor 718, Easy and Shark are apparently asleep in the cockpit with the chronometer between them indicating the occupants’ available air supply counting down from nine hours and twenty-five minutes. A sleeping Gaeta dreams of Hoshi, then of his recent experiences aboard the Raptor. He awakes to find that Sweet Eight has freed herself from her bonds. When she asks if he’s going to restrain her again, he says his intention was to free her. After Eight cautions him against waking Shark and Easy, Gaeta hands her a scalpel and agrees to her earlier plan to physically interface with the Raptor’s systems. Eight slices open her palm and Gaeta helps her plug a data cable into the wound. Once Eight is connected, she says that the low oxygen levels in the compartment are making it difficult to project. When Gaeta asks what she is projecting, she replies, “You know where I am.” A flashback shows Gaeta and the Eight back on New Caprica, where the Eight gently kisses Gaeta. Back in the present, Eight attempts to do the same, but Gaeta interrupts her by saying he’s involved with someone. Though Eight tells him that she’s pleased and that he deserves his current happiness, the two kiss passionately until the Eight abruptly gasps, saying that she has found the Fleet. She then tells Gaeta to prepare for a jump, as she is about to take the Raptor home.

Episode 7
* Release date: December 31, 2008
* Running time: ~2:06

Aboard Raptor 1029, Racetrack mentions to Hoshi that she had hoped he and Gaeta would get together and was glad they finally did. Hoshi mentions Gaeta’s drive to do the right thing, which Racetrack inadvertently makes an offhand remark in response about the rarity and mortality attached to such a well-developed moral core and quickly admonishes herself for it. Hoshi absolves her of her slip of the tongue and encourages her to continue the search.

Raptor 718 completes its jump. The countdown on the occupants’ air supply reads eight hours and eleven minutes. Gaeta checks the rear console and finds to his chagrin that not only did the jump drain nearly all of the Raptor’s power reserves, but that neither the Fleet nor any other vessels are in DRADIS range. Gaeta surmises that the Fleet may still be nearby, but out of the Raptor’s DRADIS radius. Eight says she will send a pulse that will alert the Fleet to their position and estimates a ten-hour window for rescue. Gaeta heads to the cockpit to wake Shark and Easy, but is horrified to find them both dead, their throats slashed open. His hands are covered with their blood from his attempts to wake them. Gaeta then looks accusingly at Eight, whose only response is to silently meet his gaze.

Episode 8
* Release date: January 5, 2009
* Running time: ~3:06

Raptor 1029 completes its third jump, and, again, Racetrack and Hoshi see no sign of Raptor 718. Racetrack offers to plot another jump, and Hoshi agrees, but then asks Racetrack if she thinks it's crazy to continue the search. Racetrack reluctantly says she does, and adds that if Gaeta was in their position, he would also call off the search for Hoshi once it became clear that further searches were futile. After an uncomfortable silence, Racetrack finally asks if Hoshi wants to call off the search and return to Galactica. After a few seconds of pained consideration, Hoshi says yes.

Back on Raptor 718, Gaeta begins to piece everything together, realizing to his horror that Sweet Eight was responsible for every single death, an accusation Eight responds with sedate confirmation, claiming that she did it to give the two of them more air. She then says to an increasingly frantic Gaeta that she killed them all to protect him from his own desire to kill them all. Gaeta angrily denies Eight's words, tearing the data cable out of her palm. She then affirms that Gaeta is a killer at heart, that he was when she gave her the list of names.

Another flashback to the tent on New Caprica shows a sleeping Gaeta oblivious to Sweet Eight handing the list to another Eight, instructing her to kill everyone on it.

The flashback ends, as the realization draws over Gaeta's face.

Episode 9
* Release date: January 7, 2009
* Running time: ~3:41

Gaeta listens in horror as Sweet Eight reveals that she had most of the people on the lists he gave her killed, leaving only enough of them alive to make him think she had saved them all, fooling him into thinking he was doing some good by collaborating with her. She states flatly that in a war, a basic tactical maneuver is to kill the people your enemy values. She also forces him to acknowledge that Baltar knew what Gaeta and "his Eight" were doing all along. In a flashback to the Season 3 episode "Taking a Break From All Your Worries" where Gaeta interrogates Baltar before his trial, the words Baltar whispered to him which triggered Gaeta's attack are revealed: "I know what your Eight did." In a rage, Gaeta in the present mimics the Gaeta in the flashback -- he picks up the nearest thing that can be used as a weapon (in this case, a scalpel) and stabs Sweet Eight in the neck just as he stabbed Baltar.

Episode 10
* Release date: January 12, 2009
* Running time: ~5:36

As the last survivor aboard the ship, Gaeta tries to kill himself with an overdose of morpha but fails to inject the second dose. He starts to sing when suddenly the cabin is illuminated from outside. He is hailed by Raptor 1029.

Back on Galactica, Tigh tells a recovered Gaeta that the incident will not be investigated, as Admiral Adama does not wish to jeopardize the alliance with the Cylons. Gaeta bluntly asserts that the alliance should not exist at all, and requests to speak with Admiral Adama directly, on the grounds that the Colonel is a Cylon. Tigh agrees reluctantly. Gaeta leaves the CIC and meets Hoshi in the corridor. Gaeta insinuates gloomily that he has a plan and that something important will happen soon.

Notes
*According to Jane Espenson's writer's commentary, Gaeta and Hoshi's relationship ends at the end of episode 10.
* Felix Gaeta has a metal prosthetic leg.
* The two Number Eights are nicknamed "Sweet Eight" and "Pilot Eight" in the commentary by Jane Espenson, the latter being the one in a Cylon flight suit. However, the script for this webisode lists "Pilot Eight" as "Hard Eight."
Analysis
* The rebel Cylon basestar is still with the Fleet.
* Saul Tigh has returned to duty, despite being outed as one of the Final Five Cylons.
* It now does not appear unusual to have Number Eights (besides Sharon Agathon) aboard Galactica, or for them to be riding aboard Colonial shuttles.

"What The Frak Is Going On?" is a humorous but impressively concise 8-minute recap of the 2003 Battlestar Galactica miniseries and the first three seasons of the Re-imagined Series.

Created by the Sci Fi Channel, the recap uses a series of clips from practically every episode of the Re-imagined Series to illustrate and connect the central plot points of the series for new viewers in preparation for the series's final season.

The narration, provided by a woman's voice, speaks with colloquial tones about plot points that include:

* Helo and "Good Boomer's" adventures in season 1 and 2
* Kara Thrace finds the Arrow of Apollo in the Delphi Museum of the Colonies where a Number Six approaches ("Girl-fight.")
* The enmity, friendship and romance between William Adama and Laura Roslin (A sequence of clips from "Resurrection Ship, Part II" shows Adama receiving his promotion and giving Roslin an improvised kiss in return as the narrator quips: "Roslin promotes Adama to admiral. He promotes her right back.")

Certain events that do not play a significant element to the central plot of the show to-date, such as most of the battles, are not discussed. Events from the special season 4 episode "Razor" are also omitted.

If the video is meant to be a chronological summary, it has minor story inaccuracies such as:

# Leoben Conoy is not found first aboard Galactica, as the video states, but rather on Ragnar Anchorage. The Cylon found on Galactica is Aaron Doral, who is later abandoned on the munitions depot (Miniseries, Night 2).
# The claim is made that "they (the Colonials) think Boomer is a Cylon". This is not the case. The only one who really suspects this is Galen Tyrol, only after "Litmus". However, the same explanation is given in The Story So Far to account for the "Cylon" writing on Boomer's mirror.
#Later, the narrator connects William Adama's fight with Conoy to Laura Roslin's announcement that the Cylons look human, but Roslin's conference does not occur until "Litmus", some days or weeks later.
#It is claimed that Lee Adama "wants to be a lawyer", when in fact he joins the defense team in the belief of justice and the rule of law. He was a child when he briefly toyed with the idea of stepping into his grandfather's footsteps.

In addition to these, a small mistake is made when Saul Tigh is identified as "Commanding Officer Tigh".

The producers of this recap video also assembled "Lost in 8:15", a similarly humorous recap of Lost commissioned by ABC shortly before that series's season 4 premiere. Both videos are narrated by Mary O'Brien, a senior writer and producer at Met|Hodder, the company that produced the video.

As with much of the video content on the USA Sci Fi Channel web site, "What the Frak" will play only for United States residents. However, for everyone all over the world (with special thanks to the Sci Fi Channel), Battlestar Wiki now hosts the complete 8 minute recap video below. (To view, your computer may require QuickTime for Mac or Windows or similar software.)

A newer version was also made including new material from the first half of the Fourth Season. This video is also available from iTunes.
Overview
Kara Thrace learns that the dire predictions of the Cylon Hybrid might be correct, and a devastating discovery plunges the Fleet into chaos and despair.

Summary
Act 1
* The episode skips a teaser, beginning with the "Twelve Cylons" opener and the cast credits appearing as scenes of the devastated Earth appear.
* The leaders and central staff of both the Fleet and the rebel baseship wander about aimlessly on the surface of a planet whose surface has been utterly destroyed in a nuclear conflagration for some time. Saul Tigh stands on a desolate beach, staring out at the ruins of buildings, their mangled shortened skeletons jutting up from the lands ahead in jagged spires. Gaius Baltar and Samuel Anders stand about the ruins in confusion, as does Anastasia Dualla, who stoops at the water's edge to mournfully examine it.
* Lee Adama grimaces as he looks about the dead landscape as Laura Roslin picks up a short rounded prickly plant, the only visible life found on the world.
* Helo reports to Admiral Adama: Other scouts report in from around the planet. The destruction is the same all over. No signs of human life and no responses to any hails. D'Anna Biers confirms her rebel Cylons confirm the same result.
* Kara Thrace stands on the surface holding her Viper's Colonial emergency locator beacon, with a Leoben, trying to home in on the signal only it can read, the signal that lead them to this world. The signal of the transmitting beacon is fading from a low battery. Leoben believes it must have been transmitting for a long time.
* Baltar has a team confirming that the radiation from the holocaust has embedded itself in the plant life and water chain. Helo gives a more detailed version of Baltar's findings: the planet was nuked over 2,000 years prior.
* Roslin quips, "It's perfect. We traded one nuked civilization for another." Adama orders his Raptor to leave.
* Dualla is near a breakdown as their Raptor returns to Galactica.
* The hangar deck is filled with people, anxious for any news on the new world. But Roslin, typically someone who can manage to say anything in the darkest times, can only mutter to Adama, "Get me out of here." Lee Adama tries to placate the crowd's confusion and questions, shouting that the news will be revealed in due time.

Act 2
* Kara Thrace and Leoben continue to narrow in on the Colonial signal when she finds the beacon: a standard issue Colonial device used for all aircraft, part of their inertial navigation system.
* Leoben finds some wreckage and reads off the number on its charred skin: "8757-NC." Kara immediately becomes agitated. "The number on my (Viper) is 8757-NC," she says--the Viper that she flew back to the Fleet after she was apparently killed.

* On Galactica, the Agathon family plays together happily as Dualla comes over to babysit little Hera Agathon. While Dualla says to the Agathons that she "looks forward" to spending time with the child, she later tells young Agathon as her parents leave, " You have no idea what's happened, do you? Today's just another day."

* On the planet, amidst some human skeletons dug up, Caprica-Six and others find something very unexpected: the remains of a head of what is obviously a type of Cylon Centurion, similar to the old original model from the First Cylon War, but clearly not the same.

* Aboard Galactica in Baltar's lab, Caprica-Six confirms that other Centurion helmets were found with about 250 skeletons from four sites around the planet as well. A Number Eight confirms that, while the Centurion design is similar, they have never seen this design before.
* Roslin notes that, apparently, the Thirteenth Tribe created their own Cylons (paralleling what occurred in the Twelve Colonies of Kobol). Lee Adama completes her sentence: Like on the Colonies, these Cylons also rebelled against their masters.
*Baltar concurs but notes that they dug deeper to test the skeletons themselves. The astonishing fact, confirmed by his Caprica-Six, is that the every one of the skeletons themselves are also a form of humanoid Cylons. The Thirteenth Tribe were Cylons.
* After the meeting, Lee Adama asks Roslin what she will say to the Quorum. But a visibly disheartened Roslin has nothing to say at all. Admiral Adama tells his son to "carry the ball" for Roslin.
*As the admiral and Roslin leave, Tigh asks to speak to his friend, but the scene is unclear if Adama stops to listen.

*Back on the planet, Galen Tyrol is attracted to a fragment of wall. As he gets closer, he hears echoes of ghosts saying things like "Fresh fruit, get your fresh fruit!" He sees a human silhouette on the wall, looking as if it were painted there. Surrounding the silhouette is weathered writing, barely readable. Tyrol touches the silhouette--and is thrown into a vision of the world as it once was, and Tyrol as he once was, wearing glasses and a sportcoat as she passes through a bustling marketplace of open carts of fruit and flowers and other goods. He stops to buy an avacado himself then continues walking. A massively bright flash of light appears as Tyrol shields his eyes--
* Tyrol falls back to the dead planet, stumbling back, falling to the ground.

* Elsewhere, Kara Thrace questions that, if her Viper is scattered about this planet, then who flew it here, and how did she herself get back to Galactica. Leoben cautions her, telling her she may not like what she finds. Thrace is perturbed by his words as Leoben has been, typically, very optimistic in his words to her in the past. She questions if the news would be more disturbing to her, or to Leoben himself.

* In the ready room, Lee Adama stands in thought as Dualla appears, asking him why he hasn't boarded a readied Raptor for his Quorum briefing on Colonial One. Adama laments the many pilots that had once sat here, many of them lost forever over a dead dream. He doesn't want their sacrifice to be meaningless.
* Dualla tells him that his expression reminds her of what he looked like when his father said that he would execute the New Caprica rescue with Galactica alone. When he wonders what to say to the Quorum, Dualla tells him to tell the truth. "If anyone can give them a reason to go on, it's you. Apollo." As he leaves, hesitant, he asks her to meet him for a drink later. She accepts.

* Kara Thrace finds a large piece of wreckage, overturned. She and Leoben turn it over. It's a Viper cockpit, the burnt remains of its pilot still helmeted, still inside. Cautiously, she lifts the head to find it had blonde hair...her hair. Thrace retches.
* As tears well up, she reaches inside the flight suit of the body to pull out the dog tags. In clear letters, the tags read "K. THRACE." A ring, her wedding band, is also attached to the chain. Leoben steps back in fear as Thrace asks for an explanation. "I--I don't have one," he says. She recalls what the Hybrid said, that she would be the "harbinger of death." She yells to the Leoben as he walks away, unable to answer her question, "If that's me sitting there, then what am I?!"

Act 3
* Samuel Anders finds the remains of a stringed instrument, probably a guitar. He holds the neck piece, placing his fingers on it as if to play as he recalls a song: "So let us not talk falsely now, 'cause the hour is getting late.". He drops the neck and runs to find Tyrol, sitting placidly by the wall and the vision. They both share their visions, both realizing they lived there, in that area, once. Anders recalls that he played that song for a woman he loved. They are joined by Tory Foster, who also recalls that he played that song for all of us.
* "That was me," Tyrol says, pointing to the flash-silhouette on the wall, the ashen remains of his body that were bonded to the wall with the force of thousands of degrees.
* Anders angrily questions the paradox. Why they were all still alive? How did they come to the Colonies, to believe they were human? "Two thousand years is a long time to forget!" he says.

* In Admiral Adama's quarters, Laura Roslin sits on the floor. She has set fire to one of the pages of the Sacred Scrolls, specifically, the Pythian Prophecy, turning successive pages to burn each into ash, one by one.
* Adama arrives to ask Roslin to help figure out a way to shore up the Fleet's quickly sagging morale. She is passive. He tells her that she'd missed her doloxan treatment. Roslin "didn't feel like it," she says, refusing to reschedule. "You just gonna...lie down and quit?" Adama asks. She laments that he took her advice to leave their Colonial solar system, of all the men and women who had died for what appears to be a fruitless series of visions.

* In the twilight, Kara Thrace creates a funeral pyre, burning the corpse of herself found in the wreckage, sitting alone as the flames consume it.

* Lee Adama and Dualla come back from her date as he humorously (and drunkenly) recalls his report to the Quorum. "We are no longer enslaved to the ramblings of Pythia, no longer pecking at the bread crumbs of the Thirteenth Tribe...We are now free to go where we want to go, be who we want to be." Dualla smiles back warmly as they kiss. But Dualla holds him back from more than the kiss, enters her quarters and locks the door. Inside, Felix Gaeta watches her as she hums. "You're glowing," he says coldly. Dualla chides him. "I want to hold on to this feeling for as long as I can." She looks at a childhood picture of herself in her opened locker, taking off her dog tags. "She has no idea what she has ahead of her," she says of her younger self. Gaeta leaves as Dualla stops humming, calmly places her wedding ring on the locker hook.
* Without any hesitation at all, Dualla pulls out a sidearm from her locker, places it against her temple, and fires.
* Diana Seelix arrives inside first, with Gaeta not far behind. Both are aghast at the sight of Dualla's body, blood pooling around her hands. They call for medics repeatedly in fear and distress as the scene ends.

Act 4
* Lee Adama stands by the shrouded body of Anastasia Dualla in the ship's morgue as his father enters. "She kissed me goodnight 45 minutes ago, and there was joy in her eyes. So tell me why would she do this?" Lee asks. The admiral's stony face melts into a drunken expression. "I don't frakkin' know," he slurs out, taking out a bottle of alcohol to offer to Lee, who refuses it. Anger rising in his face, Lee leaves, passing by Gaeta outside without a word.
* Inside, Admiral Adama looks under the shroud momentarily, covers Dualla's body, as he cries, holding her head, asking to himself, "What did you do?" He kisses the body, saying, "I let you down. I let everybody down."

* Adama comes out into a corridor, demands a sidearm from one of the marines standing there. Adama storms down a corridor as other stand or sit expressionless. Two men are fist-fighting, crossing Adama's path. He ignores them as he heads to Saul Tigh's quarters.
* "Sit down, Cylon," Adama says angrily after pulling out Tigh's sidearm, arms it and drops it on a table. Adama pours both of them a drink, but Tigh slowly pushes it away.
* Tigh tries to apologize about his revelation of being a Cylon, but Adama is beyond angry. "Is that how it worked? They program you to be my friend? Emulate all the qualities I respect. Tell me jokes...and I laugh at them."
* Tigh counters that he wanted, chose to be his friend. Adama throws insult after insult about Ellen Tigh, angering Tigh to pick up the sidearm to shoot his friend. "Do it! Or I'll do it myself!" Adama says, pointing his own sidearm to his temple.

Act 5
* Tigh's gun is pointed at Adama's forehead, but he hesitates pulling the trigger. Adama goads him, "Go on," but Tigh realizes, returning Adama's insult as he rips out the gun's magazine and safes the weapon. "I'm sorry, Bill, but this is the one time I can't help you." Adama drops his gun and reaches for a bottle, but Tigh tries to stop him.
* Adama drinks from a glass anyway as he speaks of his uncle as a kid in the summers spent there, of foxes that would attack his henhouses, of the dog hunts that chased down the foxes at night, forming into a team, forcing the fox toward the river. Half of the foxes would fight, the others would try to cross the river. But some of them would turn with the current, swimming away into the sea. "Because they wanted to drown," Tigh adds. "Maybe. Or maybe they were just...tired."
* Tigh, uncharacteristically, becomes the one that gives Adama a dressing-down, telling him that he can't be like the foxes lost to the sea, reminding him that he is the commander and Tigh is still the XO of the ship, that killing himself would not help himself, or the ship.

* On Colonial One, Lee Adama slowly wipes away a numeral "1" from the survivor count board as Kara Thrace arrives. Unaware of Dualla's fate, Lee tells her the news.

* Adama passes by more passive crewman and some graffiti: "Frak Earth", sprayed on the wall as he heads to CIC. Ordering Hoshi to Dualla's old communications station, he orders Gaeta to find any nearby stars compatible with habitable planets, and for Hoshi to invite the rebel Cylons to their next destination. Adama addresses the Fleet, telling them that, while Earth is no longer a choice, he will find a home. "This is a promise I intend to keep."

* Saul Tigh greets D'Anna Biers as others evacuate back to the Fleet. D'Anna doesn't want to leave, deciding to stay behind, believing that the cycle of life will keep going on as dreadfully as before. "...and it beats the hell out of being out there with Cavil. Gonna die in the cold and the dark when Cavil catches up with us." Tigh tries to give encouragement, but D'Anna asks if he ever wanted to just give up, reminding him of Adama's story of the penned-in foxes.
* Tigh later appears to be walking into the sea. Chest-deep in water and continuing down, he has a vision...of destruction in a building, a wall of apartment mailboxes behind him. He hears Ellen, finds her trapped under debris he cannot move. As his real body pulls debris out of the water, Tigh tries to clear the rubble around Ellen. She tells him, as more bombs go off, flashing bright, "Saul, it's okay. Everything's in place. We'll be reborn...again. Together."
* The vision fades as Tigh realizes the truth. "Ellen...Ellen! You're the fifth!"

Notes
* Katee Sackhoff noted that this episode could have served as the series finale had the WGA strike gone longer. However, the strike ended with sufficient time for production to resume; the previous episode was aired as the mid-season finale, with this episode airing in the first quarter of 2009.
* This episode will have scenes between Kara Thrace and Leoben Conoy set in a forest, which (according to Jamie Bamber) is set on Earth.
* The scenes were among the last shot and were shot during the crew's shut down party due to the 2008 Writers Strike, so Sackhoff was unable to attend.
*The title of the episode comes from the blues song "Goodnight, Irene", in which the singer contemplates suicide: "Sometimes I get a great notion / to jump in the river and drown." Sometimes A Great Notion is also the title of a novel by Ken Kesey and a film adaptation of the same name.
*Based on the YouWillKnowTheTruth viral site, the final clue will be revealed on the same day this episode airs.
*The last Cylon is finally revealed in a vision Colonel Tigh has of the past: its Ellen Tigh, his wife.

:This article involves the fleet of faster-than-light-capable civilian ships in the Re-imagined Series.
The Fleet is a convoy of ships sheltering the human survivors of the Cylon attack. The Fleet forms the backdrop of the drama of the Re-imagined Series.

Overview
"The Fleet" originates as a convoy of about 60 commercial and civilian ships in the space surrounding Caprica. Laura Roslin - with the aid of Sharon Valerii - initiates the clustering of stranded vessels in the aftermath of the Cylon invasion of the Twelve Colonies, thus forming the convoy. Twenty of these ships are abandoned to a squadron of attacking Raiders because they either lack FTL drives, or are damaged, like Gemenon Liner 1701. The remaining vessels join battlestar Galactica - the only Colonial warship known to have survived the Cylon attack - in the upper atmosphere of the gas giant Ragnar. From here on, Galactica shoulders the role of the Fleet's protector (Miniseries).

Anastasia Dualla explains in "33" that 53 ships have jumped away from an attacking Cylon baseship, with 10 still reporting trouble with their FTL drives. Adding Galactica to this tally, results in a total number of 64 ships. Saul Tigh's statement in "The Farm" that the 24 ships departing with the Laura Roslin faction represent "almost a third of the fleet", implies that the number of ships in the Fleet is approximately in the mid-70's. By "The Passage", there are likely fewer ships left in the Fleet because of the Cloud Nine destruction (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II) and the settlement and emergency exodus of New Caprica (Exodus, Part II).

The political and social troubles befalling the Fleet as it wanders through space, serve as a metaphor for all of humanity, since the Fleet literally is what is left of humanity in the television series.

The phrase "the Fleet" functions not only as a signifier for the actual ships of the convoy, but as an indicator of the people on board, and therefore for mankind. Often the term is used to refer to the civilian populations, as opposed to the military personnel of Galactica and Pegasus. Usage of the term "the Fleet" has not gained more than an informal acceptance, as can be seen by President Roslin's continued use of the term President of the Twelve Colonies. This may be interpreted either as an expression of hope that the people of the Fleet will re-establish themselves on a new world, or a psychological inability to accept the Fleet as the only home that humanity will know for a long time.

After three years of searching the Fleet eventually reaches Earth, but are disappointed to find it a devastated wasteland as a result of a nuclear holocaust (Revelations).

Ships
* Colonial ships use launch keys to activate the ship's systems (Precipice). The keys are unique to each vessel and are extremely difficult to copy.
Non-canonical
Initially, it appears that the production did not have a master list of ships in the first season, as evidenced by the numerical discrepancies to the later retconned numbers in Season 2. The following is a list of ships that have been mentioned in deleted scenes exclusively.

Name                !! Notes
|| Coronis is mentioned in a deleted scene in "Litmus", as a ship carrying people who are unhappy about being last in food ration distribution. However, it is not present on either the master tally board on Galactica or the whiteboard tracker on Colonial One in "Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II". As Coronis has not been mentioned in any canonical capacity, it is considered totally abandoned by the producers .<br/>
In Greek mythology Coronis is the name of several figures.

Demographics
A few points of information are available concerning the demographics of the Fleet. In "33", before the destruction of the Olympic Carrier, there are 5,251 survivors from Sagittaron and 49,998 total survivors. In "Home, Part I", the Laura Roslin faction leaves the Fleet with 18,000 individuals, of which 9,500 ware Gemenese and 6,250 were Capricans. At that time the total population of the Fleet is 47,857.

This information is sparse, but it gives a general idea of the population breakdown of the Fleet if a few assumptions are made for the sake of argument.
*Note that Gemenon and Caprica have more citizens in the Roslin faction alone than Sagittaron has in the entire Fleet. The Twelve Colonies are clearly not represented in equal proportion.
*Before the destruction of the Olympic Carrier, Sagittaron natives make up 10.50% of the Fleet. Solely for the purpose of argument, it is assumed that the Olympic Carriers population breakdown was identical to the rest of the Fleet's and that Sagittaron continues to make up 10.50% of the Fleet's total population.
*The figures from the Roslin faction can be interpreted in several ways:
<div style="float:right; margin:10px"></div>
:*ASSUMPTION 1: All Gemenese and Capricans jump to Kobol with the Roslin faction.
::*Caprica: 6,250 persons (13%)
::*Gemenon: 9,500 persons (20%)
::*Sagittaron: 5,026 persons (11%)
::*Others: 27,081 (57%)<br clear="both">
<div style="float:right; margin:10px"></div>
:*ASSUMPTION 2: All Gemenese jump to Kobol with the Roslin faction, lured by the "religion card", but the Caprican portion of the Roslin faction is representative of the Fleet.
::*Caprica: 28,204 persons (59%)
::*Gemenon: 9,500 persons (20%)
::*Sagittaron: 5,026 persons (11%)
::*Others: 5,127 persons (11%)<br clear="both">
<div style="float:right; margin:10px"></div>
:*ASSUMPTION 3: Caprican and Gemenese portions of the Roslin faction are representative of the Fleet.
::*Caprica: 16,617 persons (35%)
::*Gemenon: 25,258 persons (53%)
::*Sagittaron: 5,026 persons (11%)
::*Others: 956 (2%)<br clear="both">
*Although it is plausible that the Caprican population is substantially larger than the other Colonies, as Colonial Heavy 798 is in the vicinity when the attack begins, and is the nucleus around which the Fleet rallies, it is unlikely that the populations of each colony are grossly unequal, or else the Quorum of Twelve would be a very poor system of government. The likeliest scenario is therefore somewhere in between assumptions 1 and 2, with nearly all of the Gemenon population (drawn by the "religion card") and a large portion of the Caprican population leaving with Roslin.
*Alternatively, it is possible that the population of the Colonies are grossly unequal. Although the structure of the Quorum of Twelve appears to maintain at least a fiction that the Colonies are roughly equal, next to nothing is known about how the governmental system of the Colonies was established or how it evolved over time. Indeed, the United States Senate, for example, by design expressly assumes that the various states constituting it are 'equal' even though this is clearly not the case in terms of their respective populations. Furthermore, the fact that a system of government is 'poor' or else not representatively proportional does not mean it cannot actually be implemented and even survive for long periods of time.

As for the population distribution, the population of several ships is known: Galactica (2,693 as of "Water"), the Olympic Carrier (1,345 as of "33"), Astral Queen (1,500 as of "Bastille Day", retconned up from 500 in the Miniseries) and Pyxis (600 when destroyed in "He That Believeth In Me"). There are 176 civilians in the cargo hold of Colonial One in "Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part II". The Fleet is stated at about 75 ships in "Resistance", retconned up from 40 in the Miniseries.
*Going by the 75 ship count, the remaining ships besides Galactica and the Astral Queen each carry about 600 persons on average.
*The 23 ships that leave with the Laura Roslin faction, apart from the Astral Queen, would have an average population of about 720 persons per ship.

The Fleet's population has declined by about 8,000 since the above.

Notes
*Unofficially, many viewers refer to the Fleet as the "RTF"; "Rag Tag Fleet", or more fully, "RTFF." These nicknames come from the term "Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet," a name used in the opening credits voice over of the Original Series (performed by series creator Lorne Greene), describing the civilian refugee fleet.
* In the Miniseries, astute viewers may recognize three spacecraft with notable resemblances of ships from other SF universes. The first two of these ships aren't considered a canonical part of the series or the Fleet, but their appearance adds a bit of humor and pays homage to other notable science fiction and their creative staff.
:* Serenity, the central ship from the TV series Firefly and the motion picture Serenity, appears briefly in the sky outside the window of a doctor's office where viewers first see Laura Roslin. The ship does not appear in the Fleet.
:* The original USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) from the original Star Trek TV series makes a cameo in the last shot of the Fleet as Elosha chants a prayer in the memorial service near the end of the Miniseries. Look to the upper right corner for the ship in a still frame. All Season 1 opening credits use this shot, so Enterprise makes a very quick appearance with each of the first 13 episodes (This is best viewed from the Season 1 DVD set).
:*The ill-fated Botanical Cruiser in the Miniseries was added in homage to the Agro Ship from the Original Series, which in turn were the re-used models from the SF film Silent Running, a Universal/MCA movie that special effects guru John Dykstra worked on a few years prior. At least one FTL-capable version of this ship survives and exists in the Fleet (The Passage).
I'm interested in buying it. Is the theme from Adama's atmo hyperjump when invading New Caprica available? It's pretty much the only reason why I would get this soundtrack. Lork
I think its going to be part of Storming New Caprica (7:48) but my copy should be either waiting for me when I get home or come tomorrow so i'll let you know then. --Mercifull (Talk/Contribs) 07:37, 24 October 2007 (CDT)
:I got my copy of it yesterday at Best Buy and yes, the Adama manuver music is part of track 4, "Storming New Caprica". :The soundtrack really has a lot of other great stuff besides that track and the way, way overrated "All Along the Watchtower". "Admiral and Commander" (the Adama goodbye from "Exodus, Part I) for example has a nice guitar part in the middle that's not on TV. "A Distant Sadness" (opening of "Occupation"), "Refugees Return", "Violence and Variations", "Adama Falls", "Battlestar Sonatica", "Kat's Sacrifice", "Temple of Five" and "Gentle Execution" are top tracks too. ::I love "Admiral and Commander", that's my favorite track on the cd, especially since it incorporates my favorite melody, all the way back to "A Good Lighter" in the Season One OST. "Adama Falls" and "The Dance" from Unfinished Business were good too. It seems with each successive album, I enjoy more and more of it. I listened to it again during my hour long commute to college, I'll be listening to it on the way back too. --Talos 09:54, 24 October 2007 (CDT)
:Thanks for the swift replies! I just had a chatter with a friend of mine over icq and recently, he let me listened to that Storming Caprica music over teamspeak2. Hmm... First off, that track does indeed have the theme, but the end of it sort of "branches" off. It's not like the scene when the galactica emerges from hyperspace/from the hyperjump. Using audacity, I recorded it and compared it with the clip at youtube - They differ from each other :( I asked my buddy to check further, but just by skimming that track, he said there were none of the themes alike the youtube clip! :( Following the icq chat, he said around and between 2:09 and 2:28 is where the different theme is heard. Not going to stop me from getting the soundtrack, but I'm a bit disappointed that it sounds different... or is this theme heard in previous soundtracks?! Not sure if it is allowed to post youtube links. Lork 10:42, 24 October 2007 (CDT)
::Nothing new there. That happened earlier as well with some tracks. They don't simply take the music from TV and put them on CD. Some things are re-recorded, or sometimes they were cut down for TV in the first place, thus making the CD version the original one. Usually that's for the better; for example the full version of "Black Market" or the addition to "Admiral and Commander". The only time I was really annoyed was the added guitars to "Lords of Kobol" because they change the whole tempo and feel of the track. "Storming New Caprica" is really similar enough that I don't care.
::The fanfare at the jump is really the Starbuck theme which appears a lot in the series. Sometimes it's also used for triumphant moments in general. --Serenity 10:46, 24 October 2007 (CDT)
:Darn, better or not, wish I could have it ;p. Yeah I heard that fanfare theme a few times in such victorious scenes. Nonetheless, does the theme I'm referring to exist in previous soundtracks then - since it's more or less Starbuck's theme? Lork
::It exists as leitmotif in variations, played with different instruments. Most notably in "Starbuck on the Red Moon" where it originated, "Forgiven" and "Flesh and Bone". It also make a small appearance in "Prelude for War". --Serenity 08:07, 25 October 2007 (CDT)
Theres a few of them now on the site and they take up a lot of room. I was wonderinf if perhaps we should create a template so that they are more easily distinguised from text written by us? Here is an example of what it might look like.
PRESS RELEASE XX OCTOBER 2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: SEASON THREE SOUNDTRACK TO BE RELEASED BY LA-LA LAND RECORDS ON OCTOBER 23RD

Soundtrack includes a new interpretation of the classic "All Along The Watchtower"

(October 8, 2007- Burbank, CA) - The soundtrack from the standout third season of the Channel's critically acclaimed television series, Battlestar Galactica, will be released by La-La Land Records on October 23, 2007. Composer Bear McCreary, who scored the first and second seasons of the show, composed the score for the third season as well. In addition to McCreary's score, the album also features McCreary's new interpretation of the classic Bob Dylan song, "All Along the Watchtower," whose themes featured prominently in several episodes and in McCreary's score.

Considered one of the top 10 shows currently on TV by Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and TV Guide, Battlestar Galactica also won the prestigious Peabody Award in 2005.

The television series stars Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff. The third season began by launching the characters' lives a year ahead of the second season finale. As it the action unfolded, viewers discovered how each of the backstories evolved over the past year. All the while, more light was shed on the inner workings of the mysterious Cylons.

Towards the end of the season, a familiar musical theme was heard. By the final episodes it all became evident, these melodies were part of what would be a total re-imagination of the 1967 Bob Dylan classic "All Along the Watchtower," performed by BT4 and featuring former Oingo Boingo musicians John Avila on bass and Steve Bartek on guitar.

"It was a daring idea by Ron Moore, and at first I thought he was crazy," confessed McCreary. "It's a classic song that was completely redefined by Jimi Hendrix. But, Ron told me to make it my own and gave me total creative freedom to re-invent this song for Battlestar Galactica. And when the episode came together, I knew it was the right choice."

The song's lyrics, including "There must be some way out of here / Said the joker to the thief / There's too much confusion / I can't get no relief," perfectly reflect what the human race is going through in their battle with the Cylons through the series. Both the song and the show raise questions about the very nature of humanity and our struggle to survive against what holds us captive.

In addition to the new performance of the song, the soundtrack album features the original score that McCreary wrote for the season. "The show is evolving," describes McCreary. "And the music is evolving as well. It is head and shoulders above anything that I've done before."

Bear McCreary's feature film credits include Wrong Turn 2 and Rest Stop. He also scores the hit series Eureka for Sci Fi Channel and the upcoming Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles for Fox. McCreary was among a handful of select protégés of late film music legend Elmer Bernstein (THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN) and is a classically trained composer with degrees in Composition and Recording Arts from the prestigious USC Thornton School of Music.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor will be released on DVD December 4. The fourth season premieres on January 11, 2008 on the Sci Fi Channel. The Battlestar Galactica: Season Three soundtrack will be available in stores or from www.lalalandrecords.com on October 23, 2007. The soundtrack from the Battlestar Galactica mini-series, the Season One and Season Two soundtracks, and Wrong Turn 2 are also available from La-La Land Records.
