*Gaeta's invisible ghost is damned to walk the decks of CIC for all eternity, observing Adama finally succeeding in bringing humanity back from the brink, thus totally discrediting Gaeta's mutinous ideas. == Boomer's motivations ==

I think it's really premature to state so conclusively that Boomer's kidnapping of Hera was ordered or orchestrated by Cavil. If the upcoming episodes confirm that, okay, but right now, it is only speculation. Just because Roslin says it doesn't mean it's true.

My impression is that Boomer's actions were more selfish than that. The rebels want to kill her as a traitor, and if Cavil DIDN'T authorize her freeing Ellen Tigh, Cavil is not going to be happy to see her again, either. Hera is the one thing that both sides potentially want, and thus a lever Boomer can use to save her own ass.

Unless the next episode sheds more light on this, I think it's more appropriate to frame that point as a question, e.g., "Did Cavil orchestrate Boomer's 'rescue' of Ellen in order to get his hands on Hera?"

--argentla 18:59, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

*Canonical evidence from the TV interview states Boomer's mission was to get Hera, and that "escaping" with Ellen to the Galactica was a good cover for that mission. Cavil was/is behind it all. With respect to Tyrol, Boomer had originally intended to just use Tyrol to get Hera. However, during the mission she discovered she still had feelings for the Chief. It didn't stop her from completing her mission, though. My guess is Cavil intends to use Hera as a hostage to bargain with the Final Five. Cavil seems genuinely terrified of dying now that the Resurrection Hub is gone. He knew he had no leverage with the Final Five to get them to redevelop resurrection technology. Now, he just might...assuming Adama & Co. weigh Hera's life sufficiently. I'm not so sure Adama does, so Cavil's position is anything but assured.--Prisoner881 21:34, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

*Another angle: Cavil probably knows (and has known) the exact location of Galactica and the fleet. He probably knows (and has known) the location of Earth. He probably has enough firepower to destroy the fleet without too much trouble. Doing so, however, would destroy any chance of getting resurrection technology back. Thus, despite having all the destructive power he needs to fulfill his dream of eliminating humanity, he can't use it. I'm sure it frustrates the frak out of him to finally have Galactica in the palm of his hand but being unable to crush it out of a need for self-preservation. The kidnap ploy is a weak play, but it's the only one Cavil really has.--Prisoner881 21:34, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

**Well, [Islanded in a Sea of Stars] (and RDM's commentary track for [Someone to Watch Over Me] made my point irrelevant. Although from Cavil's behavior in Islanded, I wonder if he has something more complicated in mind for Hera than just a hostage to convince Ellen and the others to rebuild resurrection technology. --argentla 10:43, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Timeline?
Currently there is a note that:

"Weeks have passed since the end of the mutiny, as evidenced by Cottle's comment about how long Anders' EKG readings have remained steady."

Cottle's comment is about Ander's "unprecedented, and frankly bizarre" readings which "haven't changed in weeks", which occurred at the end of episode 16, but later the comment is made that Thigh's "just lost his child", which happened around the same time.

Is this a contuinuity contradiction or am I missing something? The other dave 10:55, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
:Take Cottle's statement over Ellen's. Cottle' statement is a clinical statement of how long Anders has been under even if it is an imprecise measurement of "weeks". Ellen's statement is a statement on the emotional feelings of Saul Tigh. If your son died you would probably feel that he had "just died" even if it was three months ago, six months ago, a year ago. Hunter2005 18:42, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Speaking of Anders' readings, I would say they are definitely, in fact, All Along the Watchtower. ZeldaTheSwordsman 01:04, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
The Piano Player
Although it's quite possible the piano player is Starbuck's father, we don't know this for certain. And this show is known for sending out false signals. (Exhibit A: Tigh being a Cylon). I reworded it slightly, but I would recommend we hold off making such an absolute statement until it's confirmed in one of the remaining episodes. It could be just as possible that Starbuck was projecting. 23skidoo 15:48, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
:RDM, Bear McCreary and the writers have all confirmed that Slick is indeed a vision of Kara's father. And how is Tigh being a Cylon a false signal? Ausir 16:06, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Kara Thrace/Father
Just a hunch.. there was talk that the #7 Cylon (Daniel) was a musician or artsy kinda guy. Kara's apparent father is a musician... had to leave his wife and Kara... (his death, by the cavil's).

My Theory ... Kara is an offspring of a Cylon... could explain her resurrection, father, mysterious knowledge of the music... and her connection to final 5/Hera.

I THINK I'M ONTO SOMETHING!!!

*Welcome to the other side of the looking glass! It would also explain her tendancy to draw things that she has never actually seen...another talent she shares with Hera. --Xenophon10k 20:46, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

*I have to agree. Kara being a Cylon/human hybrid would explain much. Her art. Her precognition. Her missing father. Her misfit personality. Her preternatural prowess in the cockpit. It still leaves open the question of how (if?) she resurrected. If I had to bet money right now, I'd say she resurrected in Ellen's as-yet-unseen lab. Wonder where she got a factory-fresh Viper, though?--Prisoner881 03:06, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
**I agree with the notion that Kara is Daniel's daughter and being only half Cylon. Perhaps they needed Kara's ovaries to clone Kara in the way we understand cloning. In otherwords Starbuck has more in common with Dolly the Sheep than the Final Five and Significant Eight. Still, her new body must have been grown much like a "regular" Cylon in a vat and of course (I think) her conscious downloaded into that Cylon Heavy Raider that was seen near Kara's Viper just before it imploded in the atmosphere of the Gas Giant (I would think). As for the viper, a souvenir from the first Cylon War? I have this feeling that there are a lot of Daniels hiding out in order to pull this off LOL!
The Dying Galactica
Although I obviously can't say it with 100% certainty, I think it's a foregone conclusion at this point that the "dying leader" mentioned in the Pythian texts is the Galactica herself. The last few episodes have gone out of their way to stress the point that Galactica is dying, and rather rapidly dying at that. Tyrol states she only has a few jumps left in her even with the help of the Cylon goop. The teaser for next week essentially shows Adama writing off the old girl. I get the feeling the call for "abandon ship" can't be far behind with only four episodes to go. I don't think Roslin is the "dying leader" for one simple reason: it's too obvious. RDM has a propensity for giving us false "obvious" answers in the past. I think it can't be Roslin (despite her collapse) simply because that's too tidy of an answer.--Prisoner881 02:59, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
*Well, I can only say it's moving closer and closer to that 100% certainty. "Islanded" just finished with Adama ordering a general evac of the ship. Adama speaks to Tigh of "sending the old girl out in style". The teaser for next week shows what appears to be Adama asking for volunteers for a one-way mission. My guess: Starbuck will get the location of the colony from Sam, Adama will assemble a skeleton crew on Galactica to go get Hera, and we have all the pieces in place for a final, glorious duel to the death between Galactica and Cavil -- one where Galactica will serve some important sacrificial role that allows the rest of humanity, the rebel Cylons, and Hera to forge some kind of new future. I'm going to further bet that the Battle To End All Battles is saved for the final episode, that we only see its beginning at the very end of next week's ep. After all, if Cavil's forces are destroyed, Hera recovered, and the Galactica is trashed next week, what could RDM & Co. possibly show us in the final episode?--Prisoner881 05:03, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Interesting goop theory
Tell me what you think of this theory of mine:
Daniel is indeed Kara's father, and it's current organic form is the goop used to strenghten the Galactica itself, derived from his degenerated regeration fluid.
This would explain why both Hera and Kara are influenced by music just now, as the goop matures and increase in mass, and why Adama has been saying for weeks that Galactica will be the same on the outside, but what will it become?
Daniel in this form could have been watching over humans and every cylon faction, since the goop is used in starbases and it obviously had at a time a human form, and so be in a position to be in more places at once too, giving him the seemingly omniscent powers needed to close the series ...
Organic non human cylons are a fact (raiders)
If the Galactica becomes an embodiement of Daniel's, raiders probably won't attack it also if Cavil orders it ...
Imagine the Galactica growing a glowing mono-eye? :)
*Interesting theory, but I hope they don't go down this road. Omniscient starships make for bad drama. As for raiders being unable to attack a goopified Galactica, I imagine Cavil could easily blow the Galactica to smithereens using just baseship weapons. And we know the baseships can fire on other baseships due to Cavil blowing away several at the start of the Cylon civil war. The idea of a Galactica with a glowing eye...creepy. Kind of like having a having a dead loved one raised from the grave as a zombie, shambling around. I certainly hope they don't go this route.--Prisoner881 12:58, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

anyway Kara's ancestry is demonstrated also by her ability to pilot a raider from the inside, she was the only one to be able to do it
*This last one isn't true. Bulldog stole a raider and piloted it back to Galactica when he escaped the Cylon cell he was being held in.--Prisoner881 12:58, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Bulldog didn't "escape", he was let go by the Cylons making it seem that he escaped, similar to Boomer! Oh and I don't believe the liquid cartilage has anything to do with Kara's and Hera's visions and drawings. And I believe that the Dying leader prophecy could be coming true with Roslin, but Adama could be the dark horse with all the booze and pill popping he's been doing.

::Could it be assumed that it is a largely marine world? Or similar to the one in "Water". Lots of clues lead us to this 1)Cylon bodies can withstand immense water pressure 2)Cylon Biomech appears to derive certain aspects from deep sea marine life, including, probably, its independancy from solar energy I dunno, just a suggestion, cuz its hinted I believe. Also their tech looks very marine as well.--Sauron18 20 February 2006

:::The homeworld's specific location isn't known, but we take Gaeta's comment that the Colonials had a general idea. As far as the "marine world" idea: It's likely as hospitable as they needed it to be. Remember that the original Cylons that the humans fought were mechanical; they could use practically any planet that their hardware could withstand; it need not necessarily be an Earth-like planet just because the Cylons also have humanoid models (which likely appeared long after their migration). Further, we know that the Cylon agents can do superhuman feats such as strength, so while their bodies appear human, there is still a machine element there that gives them superhuman abilities; no water necessarily required. I don't know of any solar energy requirements either noted in the series inferred or expressed; the Cylon agent appears to work with the same foodstuffs as humans, and Centurions are powered on whatever they're powered on. --Spencerian 22:37, 20 February 2006 (EST)
:::I see no reason to think it's a marine world whatsoever; they can withstand high water pressure just because (it's already been established) they're stronger than humans, and the other stuff is just speculation. We can't really make any productive speculation on the Cylon homeworld at this point. --The Merovingian 23:05, 20 February 2006 (EST)
::The resurrection ship that was destroyed could have been around the Twelve Colonies until they set up facilities on the colonies (which seem to be there based on Downloaded). The idea they made it on the fly after the battlestars went far out seems farfetched to me based on design and construction times, even for Cylons; the idea they foresaw the flight of the battlestars seems unlikely to me as well. --CalculatinAvatar 13:51, 1 April 2006 (CST)

:::::Baltar is known for not exactly talking too well. There is no clue to suggest that the 12 colonies are near the Homeworld. In fact, the distance from it is probably why they built the ship in the first place, for the attack. They wouldn't build an uber ship with thousands of spare bodies for around a dozen Cylons. They now download in Caprica because they probably established centers there now. --Sauron18 7 April 2006
::::::We have no idea if there are download "centers" on Caprica, "Downloaded" didn't describe the process well enough, and they could just as easily have been transmitted back to the Cylon homeworld (transmitter source), then back to a new body in a basestar near the colonies or whatever. I understand your opinion Sauron18, but as Peter has agreed, the evidence supports the view that it is near the Colonies. --The Merovingian (C - E) 22:27, 6 April 2006 (CDT)

To add further proof that it is not a safe statement:

"Baltar: The Cylons call this their resurrection ship. At the moment, we are too far away from the Cylon home for the normal downloading process to work, which is why they built this ship. It contains the entire apparatus necessary for Cylon resurrection. Now this ship has been traveling with the fleet trailing Galactica for the last several months "

1)Gina has been on Pegasus since the attack, yet she recognized the ship, this wouldn't be possible if it is as you say.

2)Gina fully expected to have been reborn in the Resurrection Ship. For all she knew they could be within a few miles of the Colonies, and yet said the Ship would revive her.

3)Baltar said that it had been trailing the fleet the last several months, leaving even less time for the Cylons to build a ship this size, which is, inevitably, quite impossible.

4)The only thing that suggests he's talking about only the fleet being too far away is "at the moment", and that is simply to obscure to assume it means the Colonies are close enough.

5)In "Downloaded" we see Six download into a chamber. RDM has stated we won't see their homeworld in a while, eliminating that location, and it was too soon to have a chamber in Caprica. This leaves only the option of the Resurrection Ship, since it would act as the safety net for the Cylon Attack.

These are my 5 main proofs against the assumption that they are close enough to the colonies. Aside from this, I can only ask that you use logic, which would dicate that a ship this size would not be created:

a)In a matter of 1 or 2 months.

or

b)Solely for around 12 Agents (carrying the bodies of thousands)

I hope you see what I see--Sauron18 7 April 2006

:1) As we've seen in "Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down", etc. The Humanoid Cylons actually can communicate with Cylon ships using those high-frequency little transponder devices they have (they mention a signal being sent out or recieved). <br>2) Gina was in her cell and didn't know exactly where they were, but she was aboard Pegasus for week possibly months before being found out. During that time, Cain could already have established that they were running away from the colonies to fight a hit and run war. Thus, she could pretty well assume that they weren't near the Colonies, as this would mean Cain would be singlehandedly taking on the entire Cylon fleet (which even Cain only contemplated when she got reinforced with Galactica).<br>3)I really don't see the logic in this: The Cylons control the resources of an entire planet at least (their own), and they are advamced machines with advanced manufacturing. I think they could build this in a matter of a few months (two or three) if they really needed to.<br>4)This point doesn't make much sense: "Simply too obscure"? At the moment, they are not near the Colonies. They keep saying "out here", deep space, etc. Not in range. <br>5) You're combining two statements there: we won't see the ENTIRE Cylon homeworld, but that doesn't rule out to me at all that that particular scene took place in an "isolated room" on the Cylon homeworld, that is, we don't see a skyline and such but it's "on" the planet. Meanwhile, RDM's statement that we won't seen the homeworld for a while was made in mid-Season 2.5, but now it looks like he's planning to jump back to Number Three doing stuff on the Cylon Homeworld.

:Using logic, I hope you can all see the truth. --The Merovingian (C - E) 22:39, 6 April 2006 (CDT)

I think we should just delete that last sentence. It's not extremely necessary and it's better if we leave it unmentioned until season 3, rather than being proven wrong (either way) and having that embarassment. An omition of the Homeworld and the Colonies would be the best thing right now. --Sauron18 7 April 2006

Season Three's "Cylon World"
After the revelations of Sometimes a Great Notion, I was really wondering about this. The Colonials have always assumed there was a Cylon homeworld somewhere beyond the Armistice Line, but has any Cylon character ever confirmed that fact? (All the dialogue references I can remember were made by human characters.) Maybe the Cylons just wandered in space, the way the Fleet is now. Perhaps the Plan referenced in the first two seasons' credits had to do with conquering the Colonies so they would have actual homeworlds again. (Why else would they go to such trouble to clean up Caprica -- and presumably the other Colonies -- after nuking them?)

The dialogue in this episode about the "Final Five"'s previous lives on Earth reminded me of what Virtual said to Baltar n Fragged, about how anyone who was killed on Kobol was dead forever. At the time, it seemed like a throwaway bit of Virtual Six's usual religious zealotry, but after Ellen Tigh's remark in Tigh's vision/flashback about everything being "in place" for their rebirth after the holocaust, I'm no longer so sure.

So, here's a bit of speculation. We know from the advance buzz on Caprica that the origins of the Colonies' Cylons had to do with Daniel Graystone's efforts to resurrect his daughter in an artificial body -- something that presumably would become a very, very controversial idea if applied on a large scale. Maybe that kind of controversy had something to do with the original departure of the Thirteenth Tribe from Kobol. Perhaps their resurrection system was outlawed on Kobol, leading to their exodus. The existence of the ancient probe in Torn supports the idea that resurrection technology may well have existed thousands of years ago; that episode really made the virus seem like a biological weapon, and the fact that it infected Cylons through the resurrection process may not have been accidental. Was it created to prevent the Thirteenth Tribe from leaving Earth to return to Kobol? (In that case, maybe what Ellen meant when she said "Everything is in place" was that some of the Thirteenth Tribe had figured out a way to circumvent the various defenses/mechanisms preventing them from rejoining the Twelve. Argentla
Cylon Homeworld
The revelations of this episode also raise another provocative question: IS there a Cylon homeworld (other than Earth, thousands of years ago)? At one point, RDM mentioned that we would probably never seen the Cylon homeworld, because he felt it would be creatively problematic, but now I wonder if it exists at all. The Colonials have always assumed there was one, somewhere behind the Armistice Line, but my recollection is that all the dialogue referring to it comes from human characters (Baltar, Gaeta, Kara). In Downloaded, both Six and Boomer are resurrected on Caprica, not elsewhere.

After the Armistice, did the Cylons just wander in space the same way the Fleet is, occasionally taking resources from the planets they encountered (just as Galactica has), but not actually settling anywhere specific? Maybe their original motivation in attacking the Colonies -- the original Plan alluded to in the early seasons' credits -- was Lebensraum, claiming the territory of the Colonies for their own expansion. (That would explain why they were going to so much trouble to clean up Caprica (and presumably the other Colonies, even if we never see it for budgetary reasons) even after nuking it.)

Has any Cylon character explicitly confirmed the existence of a Cylon homeworld? Three's comments in this episode about wandering in space make it seem like she doesn't have a home to return to; Cavill's belligerence might make it impossible for her to return to the Cylon homeworld if there were one, but if that were the case, wouldn't she say so?
